If there was one word to describe this anime, it would be: ADORABLE!!! This is a kind of slice-of-life anime, but with some harmless action (however weird that sounds) and harem. Story: There isn't much of an overarching story, just people living their lives in this beautiful and (for the most part) always peaceful world. There is a bit of an underlying plot where one character has to do things that they don't want to, for the sake of another person. But other than that there's nothing much to it. But I think that's what makes it so enjoyable-you get to enjoy the world of Biscotti, with its cute characters and amazingly beautiful world. However, I do think they could have focused more on the world- maybe the main character could have gone on quests throughout the world so we could see different parts of the world, but as it is, I guess we can ope season 3 has more of the world. Sound: I enjoy the music quite a bit- especially the openings. Art: The world is gorgeous, and the characters are adorable Character: I guess a lot of people would argue that none of the characters go through any real struggles, and therefore they come off as not having characters in the first place. And while there is one character who does go through some change, and there are characters affected y that, for the most part those people are right that there is no change. But in this show, there doesn't need to be- all the characters are innocent and adorable, and the world is peaceful for that. I feel like having this kind of perfect world shows that we don't NEED to have wars and fighting and death- it is POSSIBLE for people to live in peace.

When I first saw this anime I thought, "Who would watch something like this? it looks stupid." But I still gave it a shot, and am now a major fan. This anime is great for first time watchers because it has a little bit of everything, without going overboard. Cinque is a gymnastics master, athletic in every way possible. And he is also a hero. Not by choice of course. Princess Milchore of Biscotti summoned him to their world. A happy world that anyone would want to live in. In Biscotti, everyone is part animal, with little ears and tails for everything from rabbits to dogs. And every single one of them is adorable. Even their wars are adorable. The enemies line up to fight one another, but instead of dying, when 'killed' they turned into little fluffy animal plushies and are revived later. Their is no hate between countries. So why do they need a hero? Because not everything is going well. Milchore's close friend Leonmichelli, Queen of Galette, a city where everyone is part cat, is constantly fighting against Biscotti. And Biscotti always loses to the Cat Queen. In hopes of finally winning a war game, and making up with her old enemy, Milchore summons Cinque to fight for her in the games. It manages to have a tone of seriousness, without being violent, but rather adorable. Even without hate, or malice, this anime managed to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time i watched it, and I am anxiously awaiting the next season of this amazing anime.

Before watching Dog Days you have to drop the notion of battles/wars being about bloodshed and violence. You must also be willing to drop any harem related tendencies that you have accumulated throughout your past anime experiences. All emptied out? good. Dog Days is a lot different then your typical action/warring nation based animes. Wars are waged for pure entertainment and fun for both commoners and royalty. Wars are not meant to steal or harm each other, it is for pure bliss and thrill. Story: 9/10 Personally I want to give it a 10 but seeing how I only write reviews for the animes I truly enjoy I can't just give every category a 10/10 so I'll cut back here and art. The story revolves around our MC being summoned from earth to a foreign land where a desperate princess needs help to save her kingdom from losing any more wars. Through various trials (not many seeing how he ends up being there for 16 days and yet masters advanced seal techniques that knights/soldiers have been practicing for years) he winds up assisting the princess in various wars and helping her reclaim lost ties between her and another ruler. If you liked Isekai No Seikishi Monogatari (which of course I did since I tell everyone to watch that since it's my fav anime :3) then you will like this anime. Strong human gets summoned to a faraway land and winds up becoming a powerful cause for whichever side they are fighting for. Art: 9/10. Can't give it a 10 since it's a bit dated (or at least I think so) but it is not crazy old so the cute anime factor is still there. Vibrant colors and what have you. Sound: 10/10. Ahh the sound. The princess's concerts have really good music. Really good. Didn't care much for the OP ED (never really watched the ED since I just wanted to watch the next EP) but do yourself a favor and enjoy the Concerts. Character: 10/10 Characters were great. Tsundere Knight captain, cutesy princess, kind/gentle/caring ruler who doesn't care that she will be the bad guy to save her friend, and the usual other characters (crazy strong samuari along with ninja companion, etc). Honestly there is NO BAD GUYS in this anime. None. Even the war hungry general for Gallat (I think that's how you spell it) is a really kind guy. No one wants to break the century long "peaceful" truce war pact where wars are meant for fun and not hurting each other so everyone gets along. Enjoyment: Great anime. I dropped it in the past because at the time I was more into the harem aspect of animes and upon seeing practically 0 harem aspect I dropped it. That and the fact that I wasn't really digging the whole "peaceful war" aspect. Honestly if you drop this because of those reasons I highly recommend you pick it up. The last 2-3 episodes are really touching (especially poor Rico :[ ) but I can't wait to watch season 2 tonight. Hope this review shed some insight for anyone reading. Enjoy

I really love this anime! I was waiting so much for it to finally come out! The story is great. Basically it is about an athlete boy who is summon to a fantasy world by a dog princess to help fight against the cat people. funny thing is the people don't die they just turn into little sqishy things which is humorous. And the last third of the show the plot takes a twist! (sorry not going to tell you cause that spoils it. you'll have to watch it yourself.) What i didn't expect from show was the fanservice. I mean WOW it surprised me! since this anime isn't listed in the Ecchi genre. Thats what i like about these kind animes. they do things that you least expect. Awesome characters Awesome action this is an anime to watch 10 of 10.

Overview: 5/10 story 5/10 art 5/10 sound 5/10 character 6/10 enjoyment 6/10 overall. Summary: This is a silly, lighthearted and almost kids friendly anime, with some very light fanservice and nearly no darkness in it. It is by no means exceptional, but watching it leaves positive impression. So, it is not a masterpiece, but it is worth checking out. Summary: 5/10 The story is about athlete school boy that is sumonned into another world to fight in a war.... except the war is different from the one we're used to, it is fun and not bloody, and resembles sport tournament. And the world is populated with beast-people meaning cat-eared and dog-eared characters all around. There's some minor drama in it, with a hint of darkness, but the anime doesn't really go too far from light hearted nature. Still, the story is amusing, but not exceptional. Art: 5/10. Designs are fairly typical - a bit simplified characters more on a cute side, with fairly low amount of detail. The art is quite average and does not really stand out, but character designs are attractive. Amount of detilas on characters is fairly low, and people in crowds are a bit simplified compared to protagonist and the main cast. Sound: 5/10. Decent song/music, good voice acting from characters other than the lead, but the lead has slightly annoying voice. Character: 5/10: The anime is focused more on comedic aspect, so characters are not incredibly deep, meaning there's no significant depth to them. Still, they play their roles and act according to their archetypes and are entertaining enough. So while they don't really stand out, they're believable enough. Enjoyment: 6/10: This is actually fun. Lightheartedness of the anime works, and this kind of non-dangerous world can be a welcome change after too many grimdark titles. OVerall: 6/10: I would recommend it. However, do keep in mind that this is a "light" title, meaning it is a fairly entertaining fun ride, but no masterpiece. Its comedy sorta reminded me of Galaxy Angel, although Dog Days stories are not as ridiculous as Galaxy Angel scenarios were. But the tone is slightly similar, I think. Anyway, it is worth checking out, if you want something lighthearted and somewhat relaxing and a bit silly. Despite few dramatic moments, the anime is mostly bright/fun type, without horrible events or terrible drama. It is worth checking out.

I love this anime, and I might even classify it as my favorite anime as of the time I'm writing this. So why would I give a show I love a 7? Simple, as much as I love this show and as many times as I've re-watched it, I'll be the first to admit that it's objectively flawed, and for the sake of actual criticism, I can't just ignore those faults. Let's begin with the most common complaint I've heard about this show, the huge missed opportunity with the "Warfare Economy" that is explained in episode 3. They never actually explore this idea which makes a lot of people I showed this series to (and myself on my first viewing) wonder why it was mentioned at all. This did kill the show pretty quickly for a few of those people, so I will agree that this claim has a degree of validity. The main characters are all very archetypical and don't receive much, if any character development. This also applies to the supporting cast, many of whom do barely anything on-screen despite being high-ranking military officers. So, yeah, these are both big problems, at least for most people I know who have seen it, so why do I love this show despite that? What makes it good to me? Well, a lot of things. First, we have the action sequences. Flonyard is a world where war is quite literally fun and games, with commentators, points, various special actions (like summoning a hero), and people turn into these cute animal ball things when they would get hurt. The smaller fights in particular are fun to watch and very well animated, especially in episodes 4 and 5. No fight lasts too long, there are smaller attacks that give the bigger ones real impact, pretty much everything I could want from a melee fight. There are even characters who specialize with bows or guns, and our protagonist wields a quarterstaff instead of a bladed weapon. The animation as a whole is really good, with very well designed characters who are all visually distinguishable from each other, lots of amusing chibi moments, beautiful looking magical attacks, and the occasional use of CG is generally pretty good and never really distracting. The movements during combat were all very fluid, I could practically feel every weapon clash and seal spell. The world of Flonyard as a whole is a very pretty setting, with 2 moons, floating islands, a gorgeous skyline, lush landscapes, wide, blue oceans and lakes, the list goes on. It's a world I'd love to live in and just bask in how beautiful everything is. And while I said the characters are all archetypes and don't get much development, I honestly don't think they need to. This show isn't concerned with stuff like that, nor do I think it needs to be. Everyone is fun to watch, both when fighting and bantering. I did like a lot of them, with my two favorites being Eclair and Leo. Leo is probably the most interesting character in this show, but I won't say why, otherwise it'd be a spoiler. I will say that she, and pretty much everyone else are all great fighters in their own way, so that's a plus. They also have a pretty all-star cast for this show, and while people like Norio Wakamoto are unfortunately underused, most of the VAs have plenty of time to shine and put on what looks to be a good performance. I also feel a special mention should go to the opening, which is well animated and is made all the better by Nana Mizuki's lovely singing voice. It's one of the few openings I don't skip when watching a show. Overall, I think Dog Days is a fun time and I absolutely love it, but I realize that there are plenty of people who can't get past episode 3 or 4 because of one or both of the major flaws with the show. I'd say watch up to episode 5 at least, since that's where things really get going. Who knows, you might end up loving it like I do.

Welcome to Flonyald! The land of the furries, and cities that are named after desserts! As a bored teenager looking for entertainment anywhere, I browsed through possible animes and found this, and looked at the art, then the tags, finding "shounen", questioning everything I thought that was in a shounen anime in the first place. This review is about Dog Days, and anime that I found to be...interesting. Story (7/10): With the story being about a boy getting sent to a magical land of the furries where the main source of capital and entertainment came from wars, I was pleasantly surprised, as I had genuinely never though that such a plot could exist. While this idea was just amusingly strange to begin with, the story itself never really stood out as a focal point. There were times where the plot changed completely and turned into a slightly darker version of itself, as well as rushing with information that you would just need to go along with due to the lack of information. Yes, there were some flaws with the execution of the story, but it didn't seem like too much of a hinderance. Character (7/10): The characters for the most part, are furries. Specifically, dogs. We have Millefiore, the main heroine, Eclair, Rika, and so on and so forth. As well as the main character Sinque, who is more agile then any normal 14 year old boy should be. And yes, we have furries of different factions and species as well. The characters are sort of bland, to be honest. They have their specific character traits, and that's all well and good, but they never put too much emphasis on the character growth or anything. The whole cast basically just has fun with life in this magical realm riding Chocobos (if anyone gets that reference). While character development was lacking, again, this wasn't too much of a hinderance either. Art and Sound (8/10 and 7/10): The art itself is pretty damn good. The colors are extremely vibrant, and the character designs are nicely detailed. The scenery is pretty average, and the art in general isn't nothing to shy away from. It's no SAO quality stuff, but it's still pretty good. The sound I felt was a bit generic. The tracks were nice to listen to, but they weren't so good that you would listen to them on repeat, as most fans of certain animes do. They weren't that memorable, but they were nice to listen to, (that is if you can get through that annoying vibrato in the OP.) All in all, the art and sound were pretty decent, and not that bad. Personal Enjoyment (7/10): At first, I questioned myself why this was a shounen in the first place. It was a magical land that was filled with humans of various hair colors and species, and a main character that was more gymnastic than hero. That was until the fanservice started. Almost every female character in this anime, gets stripped by an impossible means throughout the whole series. It's absurd. It was then, that I realized how this was rated as a shounen. In any case, I found Dog Days to be, a relatively nice series to watch. It wasn't the best, but it was nice to pass the time. The story didn't hook me that much, the characters were eh, and the art and sound were all average. But this anime doesn't take itself seriously, which is probably why it's so enjoyable. All in all, I was looking for entertainment, and that's what I got. If you're looking for something that will hook you like a fishing hook, this definitely isn't what you should watch. (I would suggest something called Nagi No Asukara.) However, if you're looking for something to just sit down and be entertained, then this show would definitely suit your tastes. As long as you like furries and exploding clothing.

This anime had THE GREATEST POTENTIAL of all to become something better than "yet another steaming pile of crap that's stuck in the otaku loop." It had the useful, athletic, and otherwise awesome male protagonist (voice my a Mr. "Bust Out In A Fit Of Laughter, That's Right. I'm Kira"). It had the team behind the Nanoha series. It had COLORS all up in dey art and animation. And it had some "stealth panty shots." But then... As if the "LeBron James Hate Plague" spread from Cleveland (or its basketball team) and managed to revitalize the otaku-base's hatred against those better than themselves... It pulls Dog Days right back down. If it's not Eclair attacking Shinku through the main chunk of the series, then it's during the previews for the next episode where he's suffering whatever the company behind this title throws at him. It's a good show overall. But even grown-ups expect their kid(s) to grow up and leave behind their obnoxious behavior. And the people who grow up watching anime expect that from the anime industry which, for too long, caters to "grown-ups who haven't grown up at all." I was also expecting a little more "venom and blood" between the races of cats and dogs since, you know; it's a "battle" between cats and dogs. But it's from the "Nanoha Team." So I'll give 'em points up for that.

DOG DAYS: Loved by most in the anime community and critiqued by few- Thus making it a highly recommended anime. I will be doing a fair review of it along with my up's and downs for the show. Story-6.5/10 The story is so pure and even with amazing character's but the main problem most have with it is the lack of "danger" though rarely spoken about, along with it's "Slow" beginning were people- even me! expected a full-blown harem. Art- 5.5/10 Bright and colorful with a typical animation rate. though it doesn't bring anything new to the table like NGNL. but it's familiar and doesn't put you off. The character's design's however are absolutely amazing. In my honest opinion, this color scheme fit's the world of Dog Day's with a pure sense of moe from the masses of essentially furry-half human's. Sound-5.5/10 The opening's specifically turned me off due to their plain normal mildly catchy nature, my favorite is the third one the beginning makes it seem more "Let's get ready!" than the other's. But in my opinion their both rather...Plain and the ending's are pretty normal as well. But their's not much negative or positive so 50/50 rating Character's 7/10 This is were dog day's mainly shines the character's are varied and with wide array of them, they at least don't get boring, all characters are rather normal spare the main and main support. I don't really have much to say other than that im sick of Main character's who are pussies in the sense that none of them get LAID! all jokes aside though. Enjoyment? well...7/10 it as rather nice in the sense that it had some good moment's and the "Ecchi" if you could call it that was rather well placed out. and the story was interesting and wanted you to keep watching it through the slow and fast pace's. Overall it comes down to a even 6.8/10 The show had it's fault's but it wasn't encumbering in the "sexual scene's" though it was heavily cliched. but it's harem anime, Honestly.

Now so many magical girls anime are around and about these days But how about something that can be classed as "magical boy" anime? It's a rare occurrence and Dog days is one such. The story of dog days is kind of forced on the viewer with not much of a proper explanation at first. It explains itself as it goes and you learn more and more about it as things unfold. However it does create many plot holes and loops in the differing worlds' stories as to how events in the real world are immensely unrealistic and utterly unexplained. That being said, Dog Days seems to focus not so much on the male protagonist but more so on the events happening in the alternate world and they do convey the story of such relatively well. Art style is very cutesy. Some times too much so considering the type of anime it is. It does make for good entertainment but also makes it very had to even attempt to take seriously because its so bright and candy colored. This does not however limit the effects and battle scenes as being the "magical" feel it has really makes for some interesting action scenes even if it does feel like you're watching a Japanese Wipeout competition... until later on (So hard trying to avoid anything even slightly spoilerish) Music for actions and suspenseful scenes is used quite well as even the times you can see whats going to happen, you are still enticed because even if it goes unnoticed by the viewers, the music adds the sense of engulfment into the action where you want to see more. There are only a few times during the entire 13 episodes where is no music playing and even during those times the sounds effects used are what creates the scenes atmosphere whether its from simple foot steps to wind blowing in the background. Character seems to be like a coin that's had one side word down in the fact of, in the alternate world where the story takes place, you can see the development between the characters slowly getting better even if its not admitted. Meanwhile in the original world its almost as if it skipped a few beats as its not referenced to or the friends and family are only mentioned on a rare basis. Even still, the world where everything takes place for some characters a bit more development wouldn't have hurt either as I myself (slight bias here) was wanting to know more backstory on a few characters on either side of the battlefield. Overall enjoyment was kept fairly steady throughout the entire season with it hitting a peak in the final 5 eps before, just while the hype slowly dies down, kicking you with a feels moment before rising it back up again. This feels moment is both expected in some ways but executed in others you wouldn't expect. However overall it does leave something to be longed for. There is fan service within the first few eps but it's not rolled upon every episode and is actually kept rather tame while the humor card is constantly played well to the point where it will gather a chuckle or too even in the feels moments.
