I usually hate the romantic triangle type anime because you end up screaming "JUST TALK ALREADY, USE WORDS DAMIT" for a majority of the time, yet this series was great. I saw the description for this, and the Film Making aspect of this was the reason I finally got around to watching it. Was pleasantly surprised. After watching I went to make a review because this a really well done animation, and I learned that the people who did this also worked on another previous animation and similar story. I have not read this, nor have I watched the previous work. (like I said, I tend to shy away from this genre) The story/plot could have gone wrong in so many way's, but the direction and animation executed this amazingly. Shots are placed and cut beautifully, and the animation (while not SS rank) is great, and kicks up during amazing/important parts of the show. The soundtrack is not obtrusive at all. I loved the story, and the animation and direction made sure I loved it. The summary sounds super played out and old, but the experience of this was great.

I'm an 18 year old man but I will admit to shedding some tears from this anime. Ano Natsu de Matteru will take you through a very standard anime style story while adding an incredible amount of Depth. It blew me away and has become one of my favourite animes. Story: The story is amazing. It begins and ends on the most hyped moments for each episode and the inbetween builds up well for the climax of the episode as well. Its like being hit with three big wows for every episode. Something you don't get alot of with this type of anime. The story actually goes somewhere in terms of romance as well. The whole concept of the film making is not very tangible besides the fact that its what gets everyone together, but later on in the series it becomes more clear what filming and the movie symbolises. 10/10 for story, it brought something new to the slice of life romance anime and it moved quite fluidly. Art: Art was outstanding. I love the kind of artwork that this anime brings. I can only maybe compare it to Chuunibiyou another one of my all time favs. Its not an old style of anime art which is nice and the drawings are crisp and modern. Overall enjoyable. Sound: The sound is one of the main feels catchers. The music will have you wanting to join in on the excitement or feel the pain of the characters as well. It was climatic and cinematic as well as being soft on the ears too. Character: Probably my own gripe with the show is that you never really end up seeing what happens to Tetsuro and Mio or even Kanna in fact. I wish Kanna would have made peace with her rejection from Kaito but thats just me. Overall the character ark was good but the story itself really carried the anime not the character development. Kaito was a pretty bland guy but I do like how he was somewhat different the typical anime protaganists in SOME ways. The characters are well done just not the best but again the story really carried this anime. Voice acting Japanese dub was excellent though i have to say. ITS A GREAT ANIME WHICH WILL MAKE YOU CATCH THE FEELS. Its so short that you will not sleep the night you finish it. Like all great animes you will feel a hole in your heart and thats just how it goes. But if you have that hole right now then please take a look at this anime and prepare for one epic journey :) cheers.

This anime, is annoying as f*ck and let me explain why. I had to do homework you hear me!? But noooo of course not, this anime just had to leave the best cliff hangers EVER and forced me to watch.... but truly, this was a great anime. It's hard really, to explain it, but it has that Toradora feel to it, you know at the beginning of the episode? When delinquent looking dude and taiga were talking like as if they came from the future, yeah, Ano Natsu has that mostly towards the beginning and I like that kind of stuff. It adds a psychological view on the anime and a sort of suspense that you can look back upon once the anime is over. One thing I liked about this anime is that the romance had a progressive flow, it didn't just take a halt and you know WAIT TILL THE LAST EPISODE JUST FOR A CONFESSION... just had to get that out there. At the same time it feels very natural though, like as if nothing was contrived or forced, well, maybe a little. This anime will get you laughing crying smiling kyaaaaing and many things will happen to you. Apparently yall like summaries so here's mine; This boy has a camera, he meets this girl and it's nearly love at first sight, she has a secret about her though! It involves this boy and blah blah JUST WATCH THE ANIME ALREADY. *Recommended for those who are looking for a light hearted deep plot but also a turn off your thinking caps lovey dovey story with a combo of anohana and toradora, cus you know, those guys who made those animes made this anime. This anime had sad parts but also a happy side perfectly combining the two and I promise, you will be left satisfied to the end of this very short but amazing anime.* (It's so short just watch it already, oh yea one more thing.) Remember how I told you about all those cliff hangers and such? If you're an anime fan like me that just can't stand to leave the anime at a point like that and must watch the next episode at hand, make sure you have 7 hours straight on your hand cus this anime just gave me a D in Biology, PEACE OUT

WARNING: This review is only from my point of view, although there are cons apologize if there is a pro thank you. There are many users who review "Ano natsu de matteru" gives the value of 8-10 and moreover much recommend this anime equivalent of "Ano hi Mita hana" which is an my favorite anime, that's the reason why I decided to watch this anime and hope to feel it the same again and find new things about the "friendship" but I was wrong. I should compare with the "Asobi no ike yo" or "To-Love ru" the same time there is an alien and a love triangle as well as easy to guess. There are many users who say the unique story and to always development, but for me there isn’t progress or a unique story because since episodes 1-3 all the way the story unfolds and the story is similar to the style of the aliens who came to earth and falls in love with protagonist. At first I guess the story that "Ichika love with Kaito and vice versa, kana who also likes Kaito will struggle to get love from Kaito but failed because Kaito chose ichika ". Apparently the story is just that, a big mistake because of stories like this "classic" and has a lot of adapting. Remon's what I thought was a secret agent because she mysterious and seemed to know all the secret characters, it is true. "Mio obvious that love tetsurou, because she always wanted to be close to tetsurou and wanted to make him happy by saying" what you will not be lonely if Kanna with Kaito ". The director should have slightly changed form of the story, for example, the protagonist who hates aliens and the aliens trying to convince that he is also worthy of love, secret agent should be more energetic and a bit stupid because this is an attempt to hide his true identity. If only it might be applied to any development of the story, a little more unique and there is the impression of surprise. For more details, I will explain the reason why I only give the value 4 (bad). Genre: Comedy Total failure, there is almost no humor either words or actions, but at least I can feel a little humor through imagination Kaito and ichika. Drama Perhaps this is the genre that had brought the "Ano Natsu de matteru" because a lot of drama scenes started coming ichika to earth and falls in love with Kaito, Kanna is trying to express his feelings on Kaito, mio who tried to approach those moments tetsurou and immortalized through film. Romance Failed but at least there is something not all that romantic Kaito struggle for ichika could live on earth despite the failure, and even then had a lot of anime classic that has been adapted. Sci-fi Alien, modern aircraft, strange creatures. That's all well displayed and that too many have adapted. It would be interesting if the alien can be added to bring the character to another planet and see the modernization of another planet earth that is not owned. Shounen I think this is more appropriate shoujo than shounen, shounen then spoke as if the protagonist (male) strong and has a special ability to protect the other characters. In this anime is all just love to tell about the characters, it was clear the story is more devoted to the shoujo Now I will discuss the overall Story (+) A remarkable friendship (-) monotonous predictable boring classical Many fans of service (harem, big breast, male and female live together) Art (+) Coloring and lighting is good Overview of the amazing outdoor (-) Less attractive in the character creation Whereas the lack of CGI Sci-fi theme Sound (+) Fits with the theme of "drama" good lyrics (-) Lack of sound effects Instruments less attractive Character (+) No excessive Solidarity and loyalty is high (-) Tetsurou should be the protagonist, because he is wiser and more reliable than Kaito, if tetsurou the main character it will be more lively The main character (Kaito) are weak in everything ranging from the act, take decisions, and to the feelings of others. Throughout the episode made a lot of ignorance of this figure. Ichika which has a human nature like the earth to make her role seem unattractive and there is no force in the genre of "sci-fi" Kaana who easily give up and doing nothing to make Kaito impressed and realize her feelings of love even as she said, her expression is very flat and clearly rejected. Mio is just a follower of his, as if she was just a walk-on and not fit to be a major figure at least she can make changes to the story. Remon is not reliable play secret agent, because she has shown since the beginning of the original nature of an agent that is mysterious, intelligent, versatile and most advanced. Enjoyment Not at all enjoyed. Since from episode 3 to stop watching this anime because there is not anything that interesting but I am trying to maintain hope as "Mahou shoujo Madoka Magic" that could make a breakthrough in the middle of the last episode and make a distinct impression. Overall Failed in terms of story and character appreciation, impressed anime classic. There is not anything memorable. Creating memories to make a film that was used to even have a lot of adapting. About Ending not currently Ichika go, the narrator says that all the good memories ichika and Kaito and the others will be deleted and not remember anything. But the fact they still remember after many months. Not only is it as ending Ichika by the use of Bolivia, which means that the memory of them is not cleared and ichika can come and go into the earth at will. From here I get confused with the storyline of this anime, it felt too forced. Advice Attendance: you should consider again, if you are a fan of anime or anime unique tremendous better reconsider. But for those of you who like drama or romance would not hurt to try. Director: more on improving story and characters. Especially if you can make the story a little different from most anime is similar to the experience of the audience can enjoy the anime.

I was excited to watch Ano Natsu de Matteru, because it looked like I would like the characters, and even though the plot seemed boring, I decided to give it a chance. But, to me, it was a disappointment. The only reason I even decided to finish the series was because of how hilarious and entertaining one of the supporting characters was. And for that reason only. STORY: It's boring, I'll admit. There isn't much going on. The only thing "going on" is the fact that it's about a group of high schoolers stuck in the midst of a massive love triangle. You know, the whole: she loves him, but he loves someone else, and that someone else is in love with another person, and that other person is in love with some alien chick. After about 2 episodes, it's pretty easy to determine who is 'crushing' on whom. But what surprised me the most about the whole plot is that we actually got some confessions every couple of episodes, instead of the writers waiting until the last episode and making everyone break down and confesses to their love against the picturesque sunset backdrop. That's one thing I was happy with about this plot. But, still, the plot is lackluster. After a few episodes, I found myself saying, "Ugh, come on!" And then finally around episode 8 or 9 we get some motion going, but it's kind of too convenient, in my opinion. All of a sudden, we have a dangerous situation that gets resolved in a "oh wow, that's convenient" manner... All around, plot could have been better and needed some more motion to pick up that feel of dragging feet. CHARACTERS: I loved most of the characters. The main guy, Kaito, is as loveable as a fluffy teddy bear that was rolling around in chocolate; and all the other supporting characters each had their own loveable personalities and quirks, which made me really enjoy their presence on the screen. Especially Remon, the suspicious upperclassman who pretty much forces her way into the group of friends, and takes over the roll of making the summer movie. She is the sole reason why I continued this series, because her antics are so highly entertaining. But then there is the main girl, Ichika. Oh, how she annoyed me. It's probably just me and my own personality clashing against hers, but she is the main reason why I did not like this series. Pretty much, if you do not like her, then you will not like this show, because who ends up with whom depended on her and her indecisive ways. Further more, she's one of those characters who finds it appealing to constantly apologize for everything that she does, which just added to my dislike of her. All around, loved the main guy and the supporting characters; hated the "heroine" of the story. SOUND: The opening was okay. I only listened to it once and then skipped through it for the rest of the episodes. The chorus was slightly catchy, but nothing fantastic. The soundtrack was nothing memorable, either. Just some relaxing background music that played up the motionlessness of the whole show, in my opinion. I loved the ending, however. Very soothing and catchy. I always looked forward to hearing it at the end of an episode, which is the main point of an ending, am I right? It closed out the episodes quite nicely, if I do say so myself. OVERALL: Like I said earlier, this series disappointed me. If the main girl had been more likeable, then I probably would have enjoyed this series more. But I just couldn't. Furthermore, the plot was lacking, and in the end, nothing is really resolved except everyone has a broken heart but they're hiding it like pros. The only reason this gets a 7 is because of one of the supporting characters, which I think speaks volumes about how little I enjoyed this show. While I sound like I absolutely hated this show, I did not. It does have some cute and adorable moments, and I don't feel like I just wasted several hours of my life. However, it's flaws outweighed those cute moments, in my opinion, and overall I would not watch this series again. Long live Remon.

I stumbled upon this anime when browsing through the drama genre on kissanime. I didn't expect much at first, but I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did. If you enjoyed Angel Beats and/or Clannad, you'll love this anime. It's a story about a group of friends who decide to film a movie together. Like any drama anime, there are love triangles and, well, drama. But it's all done right, in my opinion. There are hardly any misunderstands, and if there are the characters sort it out within five minutes instead of over whole episodes, which is refreshing. The characters feelings and actions aren't forced and realistic. The story moves along at the appropriate speed. Nothing seems too fast and the plot is spread out over all the episodes instead of being forced into the last few episodes. Not only are the characters and story well done, but the art style is very good. The characters are very well designed and distinctive. Not to mention, everyone is cute. Overall, Ano Natsu de Matteru is a short, well-paced anime with interesting characters, story, and art style. I highly recommend to any anime-fan who enjoys the drama genre!

Heard of Anohana? Loved it? Then you'll love this too. I LOVED IT. Everything was perfect. The soundtracks and OP/ED were beyond ezpeztations. Yanagi-san 's lovely voice coincided naturally, complimenting the story. It is one of its kind. It maybe in the same genre but it definitely has its own taste to it. There are no cheap shortcuts or princess-like endings, only much realism when alien meets earthling. Character development went pretty smoothly. The story is actually pretty funny, however it touches your heart even more. You would be shocked. Surprises will pop up from time to time. Live to learn experience through the eyes of young love-struck youths. Cry when you need to cry. Move on, a future awaits you. Share a shoulder to lean on. Never ever give up. Warning: Don't Rub Your Eyes Too much They so those who die go to heaven. I don't think so. I think when we die, we live on in someone else's heart. We live on in their memories. Just like how our parents stay in our hearts. But with time, memory fades. That's why people wish to leave something behind. They don't want to be forgotten. Nobody wants to be forgotten. — Kaito Kirishima

Well, this is not AnoHanna. There's not enough story for twelve episodes. Things start out ok but they get boring after the characters and setting are presented. The two beach episodes could easily be dropped and the only two events that seem to happen in them would fit elsewere. There's even a festival with yukatas and impossible-to-catch fishes which do not add very much to all. Things can get a bit tiring as you see that there are a number of scenes which are telling you the same continuously. Something was told to me four times at the beginning of episode eleven. Characters are pretty plain appart from their love affairs. It seems their only hobby is being in love and not doing anything. One of them seems to build models, but he could have been watching TV and nothing would have changed. Particulary the female protagonist seems preety dull for an extraterrestrial being capable of space travel. And... why is she wearing glasses? Duh. Even the mascot is pretty average. Probably the best character is the less visible: Yamano Remon. Seems to be the only one hiding something and has the most personality of them all, even if it is for being somewhat evil. On the other hand, the last two episodes are slightly enjoyable. Also, having some love stories, the resolution for most of them is... mostly void.

The MC looks like he might be a little more introspective from the first scene, giving the occasional wistful internal monologue, but he quickly becomes dumb, oblivious as your thickest romcom main. Worst of all, he's generic in his I WUVS you dynamic with his alien waifu, having nothing else to his character other than being a jittery mess (until he isn't) and wanting to preserve these precious memories, since there probably isn't a heaven or D-g or whatever. Most of the characters are shown to be pretty damn stupid and oblivious by episode 3. Those are some intense misunderstandings and a much-too-tangled love geometry. Of course, Kanna will eventually confess to the MC, and, despite the obviousness of her interest in him—implicitly announced by the dialogue and reactions when Remon is filming them; learn to read the room, moron—he'll be surprised (peepers going wide), and say, "W-w-what, you like me? N-no way, but, ah, um, I actually love someone else, sorry, Kanna-chan." They might seem tolerable from the beginning, but almost all the characters are dull and one-note: whether it's the nerdy alien love interest, the feisty tom boy who "secretly" loves the MC, the girl, Mio, who doesn't wear underwear and is a bit shy and likes the horse-faced guy who likes Kanna, or the horse-faced motherfucker who has a barely concealed mommy complex. It's so predictable, and if you've seen any romcoms, you'll know exactly how this tangled love geometry will untangle itself. The writing would have to be far deeper to muster something so predictable and the characters more dynamic or compelling. Despite one character being an alien, Remon is the biggest weirdo of the bunch (her fufufu laugh is better than average, but it was a wasted opportunity when the MC imagined them laughing behind his back, and she didn't do the fufufu laugh...), who obviously knows more than she lets on, but no one really pauses to take note. She's the only memorable character, being cute and manipulative, having actual awareness, a mysterious background, an amusing demeanor and laugh and being one of the few sources of humor, along with the mascot character. Might as well have made a show about her instead. There's also the cute Pokemon-like critter, Rinon, acting as Ichika's pet; she's clearly not a terrestrial life form, yet no one seems to pay any attention? Ichika doesn't try to hide him, make excuses, or use some kind of illusion or cloaking device to make her look like a Chihuahua. Of course one of the plot points is that Ichika thinks that the sex-crazed Kaito figured out she is an alien, and it frightens her that he might turn against her. She's trying to blend in rather than act as a mischievous alien, like Lum would, so how does she not think them seeing her Pokemon might be a tip leading to her hidden identity unraveling? It's like they needed a cute mascot quota to be met but didn't feel like going through any added hassle for her, which kind of breaks the writing. It actually worked when Rinon showed up for a comedy scene because Remon was handing out her spiked drinks beforehand, and they blacked out all their memories. Yet a later scene has Kaito feeding her Pokemon ramen casually? The guy is so eager to stick it in whatever hole he can find that he doesn't care that this suspicious girl who lives with him, after knowing each other for only one day, has a Pokemon? By this point, the MC should realistically know she's an alien and is trying to conceal her identity (either to protect her from the MIB or get a chance to try out his anal probe fetish), or they should make a better effort to not give huge hints to the cast who will take every chance they can to double down on being dumbasses. The writer simply does what he wants instead of making the characters seem like they have a thought process. The aesthetic and 8mm film framing device make the series a lot more compelling than it otherwise would be, and it's decently fun in spite of the flawed writing and tedious drama dumps. During the beach episode, another grill from childhood is introduced to further complicate and dramatize the dull convolution of the love geometry, which is terribly forced and without any real buildup or emotion. Even most of the comedy is eventually strangled by the sappy drama we've all seen hundreds of times. "Be prepared to work your fingers to the boner" (as opposed to bone) was a line I wanted to point to to give an idea about the comedy, but it seems that's a crass localization, and the series tends to be more tasteful, instead being tasteless in the sense of having no flavor. The animation is used decently when it comes to providing varied facial expressions and accentuating a few moments, and there's a small amount of physical and visual humor. Most of the decent parts come from Remon or Rinon, but there's a touch of weirdness early on that has even the main couple providing a few laughs, like the delusions of the MC, which are largely dropped after only a few episodes. The plotting is so convenient with different characters running into each other all over town, activating plot forwarding or exposition and relationship or feelings dumps. In the span of 1-2 episodes, the MC goes looking for Ichika. Gets stuck. Runs into Remon at "random" (like anything is random with her), who gives him a pep talk. Next scene, Kanna sees MC from afar. Kanna runs into Ichika at MC's house. Kanna runs home crying, and Ichika sees everything about her romance and purpose from a new angle. Kanna runs into horse-face, who is waiting along the way, leaning against a telephone pole. He comforts her as she cries. They cut to a shot of Mio crouched behind the bus stop, crying, while neither Kanna nor horse-face know she's there (seriously, wtf?). Horse-face confesses to Kanna a few days later. I'm like, "Let me guess, Mio will be there to kiss his booboos." She appears out of nowhere to hug him from behind, and he was standing at a kind of overhang area with fencing behind him, so you have to ask where she even came from, as there's no way she could sneak up on him. Other than a few of the anxious earlier moments, the series seems so predictable and by the numbers to the point that none of the interactions feel real or have anything compelling about them. Ultimately, while I'm thankful it was there because it added a touch of mystique and variety, it's questionable if there was even a point in bothering with the sci-fi at all, other than to make a rather dull romance more intriguing and colorful, and maybe present some silly metaphor about the difficulties of forging an enduring love, but the series fails to exploit the sci-fi elements to their fullest. Ichika's reason for coming to the earth boils down to an ancestral blood memory of no importance rather than insightful or well integrated, and the story doesn't have any of the usual tropes about uniting interstellar races or ending conflict. While I'm in no way wishing for those cliches, what I am saying is that the writing was half-baked and sloppy because most of the plot points and ideas feel like they are simply there and not tethered together in a truly meaningful way. There seems to be a muddled nod to the "human condition," and, as far as I can tell, the "aliens" are just more technologically advanced humans, who likely have some connection to the earth in the first place, though that isn't explored. The focus on love geometry, and all the old hat and syrupy drama with these one-note characters that that entails, over the filmmaking and sci-fi plot, is what renders this title as seemingly well-received back when it aired but a forgotten dud today. The filmmaking framing device feels secondary for most of the run, but it's used in a decent manner to reinforce what's going on in the main plot, emphasizes the nostalgic tone well, and provides a decent-enough ending. The sci-fi is similarly shoehorned at the beginning for light mystery elements and…

Ano Natsu de Matteru brings out nostalgia in the most elegant and seamless way possible. The art is so warm and comfortable, I just fall in. The sound design is as close to perfect as I've ever heard. In fact, for me that's the defining characteristic of the series. From the clicking of the camera to the sounds of glass gently hitting glass, everything works perfectly and adds immensely to every other element. Not to mention the VAs (or their audio engineer) knocked it out of the park, at least to my non-Japanese ears...there are quite a few ASMR-worthy moments. Like most other things in Ano Natsu de Matteru, they are warm and simply on point. The characters are fine and adequately developed for the genre, but from a storytelling perspective no one is particularly remarkable. In fact, the story itself isn't really worth mentioning, but much like Toradora, this proves that excellent execution is more than enough to make up for a bit of a weak plot. This actually works to its advantage in my case, since consuming this kind of plot is so central to my past, and in an anime so dependent on appealing to sentimental emotions, it just whisks me away to that old world. As for complaints, reactions to large events are often very unnatural, though I'll stop there as to avoid spoilers. Again, the plot isn't particularly great on paper, and the romance definitely falls into very trope-y and melodramatic territory, though it does switch things up a bit, it isn't entirely formulaic. In general, you'll have an idea of where things are going, but there are still surprises along the way. The sci-fi elements are masterfully interwoven into the narrative, never becoming overwhelming or alienating to the viewer. Ano Natsu de Matteru has its flaws, sure, but they're hardly in the areas that matter. Evoking nostalgia in a subtle manner that doesn't involve just showing images from the past is rare as hell in anime, and this series achieves that wonderfully. ...and I'm not even from Japan. It's just universal, I suppose. Give it a try, though avoid if you don't like tearjerkers.

I did a bit of research before watching this anime and after finding out that this anime was directed by the same guy who directed "AnoHana: The Flower We Say That Day", I got excited. Too excited, perhaps because I thought this was going to be another drama. Turns out, it was another one of those Rom-Com anime. [Story]: (7/10) During summer, a group of friends decided to make a movie. However, while making the movie, they end up learning more about their feelings towards each other. What begins as a simple way to avoid the summer doldrums quickly turns into something much more complex, intimate and revealing The story is basically a young high school teenager called Kaito who witnessed an alien girl crash landing on his planet (called Earth). There, he meets the hot alien "human-like" girl called Ichika. At this point, you already know that they're going to end up together. All you need to know is how they ended up together. Kaito and Ichika ending up together could have been done in a few episodes but they decided to add in the bullshit love triangle that is so common in today's Rom-Com anime. Honestly, I wouldn't mind as long as it's done right but it's not. It just ended up as being too laughably melodramatic. Anyways, after the meeting, Kaito and his group of friends; along with Remon and Ichika, they decided to make a film that is going to be directed by Remon herself. You don't need to know about the movie because it's not that important. What you need to know is the feelings the group of friends realized towards each other while filming. This is actually one of the best part of the show (except the love triangle). It further developed the characters and we get to know more about why said character gained feelings towards that character. I just want to get this out of the way.. There is a very short arc in the show and it only lasted for 2 episodes. It is the most stupidest arc I have ever seen. Not only is it a filler, it's also goddamn unnecessary. I wouldn't call it completely unnecessary though because we get to learn more about Mio and her true self in this arc. What this arc contained is the cliche "male protagonist meeting his childhood friend" who is a female by the way. *wink wink* more love triangle and her friend that no one really cares about The show is a Rom-Com meaning the story is about romance but as you can see; the show also has a "Sci-Fi" tag but don't think the story is heavily focused on sci-fi too because it's not. It's just a minor plot device. The sci-fi will, however, play a role with what's going to happen to both Kaito and Ichika but I won't spoil it. Just don't expect too much futuristic 2100 technology. I was somewhat disappointed at the fact that the "alien" species, especially Ichika were not given too much focus. I really wanted to learn and know more about this so called "Federation", more about Ichika's alien species, their technology, etc. For a 12 episode series, I guess it would be too hard to incorporate all the points I just mentioned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Art/Animation]: (9/10) If you've seen a J.C Staff anime before then you should be familiar with the animation of the show at first glance. It looked fairly similar to their past works like Index, Railgun and Toradora but a bit better because of increased lighting. The character designs looks pretty good but there is one character who looks very similar to J.C Staff's anime characters. I'm talking about Remon. She's a goddamn hybrid of Taiga from Toradora and Kuroko from Railgun. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Sound]: (9/10) Ano Natsu De Matteru offers an almost perfect soundtrack. From great OP and ED theme songs to awesome background themes, the show nailed it. The soundtrack fits with the corresponding scene that was currently playing. The OP theme song "sign" by Ray and the ED theme song is "Vidro Moyou" by Nagi Yanagi. The OP theme song sounded great in my opinion but it did have some similarities with Railgun OVA OP. The ED theme sounds damn awesome. It's very rare to see an anime to have an ED theme song that's actually better than the OP theme song so great job Ano Natsu. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Characters]: (7/10) In my opinion, the characters were pretty decent. They weren't that bad but they weren't the best either. I mean, they're teenagers. Their actions can sometimes come off as idiotic or whenever they're involved in a dramatic stuff, they get way too melodramatic. I guess it's time to introduce the characters. Kaito is the main protagonist of the show who has a likable personality and fell in love with the alien girl rather quickly. Ichika is an alien girl who crash landed at Earth. She has a 99.9% human-like appearance and she is a very polite girl. She's also one of those girls that takes care of the male protagonist. In other words, she's part of the "girl takes care of male protagonist" cliche. Then we have Tetsurou, this guy is one of those dependable best friends that you'll want in your group. Then we have Kana, a strong and independent female character. To be honest, I saw a bit of potential in her. Then she ended up as a "third-wheel" female character. Why you make strong female characters useless anime?! Then we have Mio, a calm, shy and overly polite girl. I'm telling you right now, this is the only character who got the most development out of the group, thus making her a likable character in the end and she also has some secrets that I don't really want to spoil. And finally, we have Remon, a mysterious senpai, a very funny girl and an annoying girl at the same time with her goddamn "fu fu fu" laugh. Revealing more about Remon will ruin the "mysterious" part about her. What I do like about her is the fact that she forces the characters to drink the "lemon juice" that she serves. And that lemon juice is actually alcohol. Ahh, I can watch the joke play for about 500 times and it will never get old. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Enjoyment]: (8/10) Despite the melodrama scenes that maked me want to punch the screen and the last 2 or 3 episodes that really felt weird and cheesy, I still enjoyed the show nonetheless. Especially the romance between Kaito and Ichika and the funny-ass comedy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [OVERALL]: (8.2/10) "Ano Natsu De Matteru" is a pretty good Romantic-Comedy anime but I wouldn't call it the greatest. It really felt generic and the concept of "boy meets a mysterious girl" which in this case is an alien girl has been done many times before. The show also didn't try to surprise the viewers when it comes to who the male lead is going to be with. Despite all that though, the show delivered a good and heartwarming romantic story. Pros: +Good Romantic Story +Great Visuals and Animation +Great Soundtrack +Balanced Pacing +Characters did their job fairly well Cons: -Some unexplained plot points -Some repetitive jokes. -Melodrama scenes -Ending felt weird and cheesy

Ano Natsu de Matteru is a unique anime that, in my opinion, everyone should watch! The story isn't all that new BUT the creators of the anime did a great job on how the story unravels! Although everything is almost obvious from the beginning, the anime does a great job at making us hold our breath in most of the scenes. The most unique feature of the Anime is the way it deals with the characters' feelings, and that's because most of the people can relate to the characters, their weaknesses, their fears, their flaws. I should also mention that it is one of the few anime I have seen that have what I should call an ending that ''completes'' the viewer, and I won't say more! It will definitely cause you sadness and maybe bring you thoughts of some of your experiences but it's really worth it!

This is what i want my summers to be like. It is the ultimate representation of a perfect summer. The premises seems a bit contrived in that yet again it is another Alien comes to Earth story that has become quite a common theme since To Love-Ru popularized it. What sets this show apart is the relationships between the characters. These guys are not stupid or stereotypical, they are capable and they show initiative. That alone is reason to watch this show, but to top it off, it has a intriguing and engaging story that makes me feel euphoric by the end. I won't spoil anything but the ending is one of the most satisfying i've ever seen in a while. They did a wonderful job and i loved every second of it.

Well basically as soon as I started the first few episodes it looked a LOT like 'Onegai Teacher'. Story, environment and to some extent even the characters like 'Remon Yamano' who looks and also behaves a lot like the 21 year old senpai from 'Onegai Teacher' and also 'Ichika Tatsuki' who looks like the teacher from [OT]. It had a slightly different story but I still enjoyed it... Character art looked like something from 'Toradora' On finishing it and checking some info about it, I found out it was made by the same writer as 'Onegai Teacher' and 'Onegai Twins'

Waiting in the Summer (あの夏で待ってる Ano Natsu de Matteru) What I loved about this anime is the love story between all the characters and the friendship they all built in one summer of their life. Truly, it was a remarkable anime for me, I don’t know but there is something surprising in the story. To be honest, I really laughed and cried a lot while watching it. And actually this anime also inspired me while I learned several things in relation to friendship and love. *PERSONAL IMPLICATION* It is really true that nobody wants to be forgotten, we create memories but with time, memories fade. That’s why people wish to leave something behind. Ano Natsu de Matteru made me realize how significant to be with your friends and desire that it will never end, also with those memories to remain And of course, As long as you love someone, there will always be a way. No matter what happen, we leave or not still we live on in the memories of the people who greatly love us.

📹ABCs As Dull As You Please °tepid° 💯%🔍only minor spoilers 🔠B likes A; C likes B; D likes C; E likes D; A likes B; & F gonna film it all. Sadly, overall, the show gets a "C" at best. 🚀In WITS a hot bimbo crashes to 🌍 on top of our ML, Kaito. It follows a group of school friends as they venture into amateur filmmaking, while at the same time, they're discovering eachother 's secrets. This is a man's (anime nerd's) idea of a romance. We've got the blushing-maiden-teen-boy and the gorgeous-open-and-over-sexualized-yet-unaware-and-innocent girl who is also quite available. Unfortunately, WITS has no wits about it. It's thoroughly room temperature and as captivating as a middle school paper on the history of home 🎥movies. 💕Inane shilly-shallying over relationships, simplified characters (though I do like Remon), witless dialogue, and a tepid plot characterize WITS. It isn't the worst. Some viewers will enjoy this show, but there are many better things to watch. WITS is in a large pile of anime that would be perfect for ages 11& up, but for the sexualized content such as panty peepin, bouncing b👀bs, and bawdy references. It isn't difficult to imagine that kids in the 10-12 year range are this show's primary audience, inappropriate as that is. ⏳Yes, this writer watched the whole thing. I did, so you don't have to. I'm at a juncture where there's not much happening right now, so I have time, and with 13 24-minute episodes, WITS is a small 🕐-investment for me. For a busy person, though, WITS is a waste of 5.5ish hours. It's categorized as a romance on the streaming service that currently airs it exclusively, but it is not a good fit with that genre. For the 14+ crowd, other choices such as: Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon-8, Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple-7.7, Edens Zero, and even Chivalry Of A Failed Knight are far better time spent in the Male-teen-twit-encounters-innocent-(or otherwise)-sex-kitten(s) category, which is the Twinkie bin in anime's pantry. Each of those shows is probably bawdier than WITS, though. 🎨There's scenes here and there with beautiful artwork. Unfortunately, the writing, directing, music, & sound are all merely adequate - Not horrible; just nothing special. Don't wait for WITS to get any better; if anything, the quality declines in the latter episodes. WITS is dubbed, and the English actors are good - they always are. These guys are pros, and they are much appreciated, as dubbed anime is the best (the exact opposite of foreign language live action, for which subtitles are a must). 🙈Ova is the 13th episode that takes place 2 years later in their last summer break. Just when I thought the drudgery was over, 27 more minutes are dumped out like space junk. As it starts they find the first reel they shot together in the course of the previous 12 episodes. We revisit their first meeting in which Remon brought some funny bug juice that elicited some elicit behavior from the group. It is all a pile of nauseating nostalgia. It's worse than the first. Even if you enjoyed episodes 1-12, the Ova is on a lower level. 🚧Now you know the ABCs of WITS. Watching it isn't as bad as reciting the alphabet backwards during a traffic stop, but it's close enough to another thing-to-be-avoided. Pull over and make a u-turn before you do something you'll regret. QUOTES📢 How am I supposed to compete with such a perfect Airhead like that? Q. Do you even have a license? A. Yes, most of them. 〰🖍 IMHO 🎬67 📝 59 🎭70 💓58 🦋45 🌞50 🎨72 ⚡35 🎵/🔊60 😅36 😭15 😱15 🤔25 💤50 🔚70 Re-📺? Ano Natsu de Matteru - A Mediocre Blend of Romance and Sci-Fi Rating: 5/10 Ano Natsu de Matteru is an anime series that attempts to intertwine elements of romance and science fiction, but unfortunately falls short of creating a truly engaging and memorable experience. While it has its moments, the overall execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a mediocre offering. The story follows a group of high school students who come together during their summer break to create a film. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when they encounter an extraterrestrial being, leading to a series of events that challenge their friendships and complicate their budding romances. One of the shortcomings of Ano Natsu de Matteru lies in its narrative structure. The series struggles to find a cohesive balance between its romantic storyline and the sci-fi elements. The plot often feels disjointed, and the pacing can be uneven, making it difficult for viewers to fully invest in the characters and their relationships. Additionally, the resolution of certain conflicts and plot points feels rushed or contrived, leading to a lack of satisfaction in the overall storytelling. The animation quality of the series is decent, with pleasant visuals and character designs. However, it lacks the visual flair or standout moments that could elevate it to a higher level. The sci-fi elements, while present, are not particularly impressive, and the focus on the romantic relationships often takes precedence over the exploration of the sci-fi aspects, leaving them underdeveloped. The characters in Ano Natsu de Matteru struggle to make a lasting impact. While they possess some endearing qualities, they often fall into predictable archetypes and lack significant depth or growth. The romantic relationships portrayed in the series can feel contrived and lacking in genuine chemistry, hindering the emotional investment from viewers. Despite its flaws, Ano Natsu de Matteru does have its redeeming qualities. The nostalgic atmosphere and themes of friendship and summer memories may resonate with some viewers. The series also delivers a few heartfelt and emotional moments that add some depth to the overall narrative. However, these moments are not enough to salvage the shortcomings of the series. In conclusion, Ano Natsu de Matteru falls short of delivering a compelling blend of romance and science fiction. While it has its occasional moments of charm and emotion, the overall execution feels lacking. Its disjointed storytelling, underdeveloped characters, and uneven pacing hinder its potential for a more engaging and memorable experience. Therefore, it receives a modest 5/10 rating on my anime list.

Teenagers fall in love easily, for flimsy reasons and love feels like the fate of the world will rest on every decision on the way. And while this Anime certainly captures those kinds of feelings, it also unwillingly portrays just how shallow many of these feelings ultimately are. To start off with a compliment, Ano Natsu has a very pleasant aesthetic and is a pleasant watch. The characters all look pretty and distinctive, and their design match their personalities great. The use of filters, colors in general as well as summer imagery (watermelons, the beach...) is very well-done and does evoke summer feelings - and maybe a little bit of longing - in me. The Animation on the other hand might not be exceptional, but every character gets a lot of varied fun facial expressions that don't resort to SD/Chibi-style either - so on mute, it's a nice enough experience. But then on the other hand we have the story. And what a boring, generic teenage lovestory it is. Everyone is in love with someone they can't have while someone else has their eye on them. It's not as frustrating from a structural perspective, since all misunderstandings that come up are resolved quickly and even deepen some of the bonds of these characters. But you still are left with the feeling that aside from small moments - and aside from the best girl - nobody has much else to do with their life. They're making a film together, but it doesn't seem like any of them has any other hobbies or friends. Granted, the bonds they form are nice, but the characterization is super weak. They all can basically be narrowed down to an archetype and thus, none of their relationships feel real, warm or earned. We're told who is childhood friends with whom. We're told when and where the individual crushes formed. But we learn nothing else. Eventually, here and there couples begin to form, but even those feelings feel kind of arbitrary. And with characterization this weak, the pathos many of the confessions in the show - and there are a lot - just falls flat and feels unearned. Likewise, the plot is mostly driven forward by sheer coincidences. Often times, key developments between the characters happen because one happened to run into the other, or interrupted a scene with another character. And all of the key moments in the story - like the event that initially leaves Ichika stranded without a home on earth, or a similar sci-fi-related event to kick off the final portion of the plot - just feel like things that happened so the story could continue somehow, not like something that was the logical consequence of something else. You were not following a story, you were always kinda just [i]waiting[/i] for the story to move on. And that is kinda just like waiting at the bus stop - necessary, but you could do so much better stuff with your time. In the end, the show isn't that bad. It's a romance with a very pretty aesthetic you can watch on the side, or when it's winter and you really need some of that sweet watermelon. But it's by no means engaging in a genre that has so much more to offer.

Imagine every cliché in the romance genre ever done, now multiple it five-folds and you'll get 'Waiting in the Summer' the anime. You've must have been an angsty teen to enjoy this or perhaps a legally blind romantic fanatic. Its flaws and lackluster characters can't seem to carry the anime's weight. We start our story with a film-maker, Kaito, going every day to school recording things and scenes. while having a love interest known as Kanna - yet he doesn't acknowledge her in this way. Moving on at the end of the day, he finds himself at a bridge were a catastrophe occurs. Almost costing him his life and having to live with Ichika from now on. When it comes to the animation, it's splendid to watch; over-top with an amazing color-palette. Every character is so neatly drawn out, each being memorable in there own way. Someone could be the main character in a different anime entirely. The music is fitting the overall slice of life theme of the anime as well. My problems start to stem from these segments they play in their minds. Were they think one character is thinking in this manner; when it doesn't even seem to fit the personality provided beforehand. Furthering the issues is the interactions each play with one another. Another example was when Kaito was with hanging out Nanami. Before Kanna caught wind of it; thus seeing the two made Kanna jealous, leading to having these awkward and cringe-worthy interactions. This octagon love triangle doesn't assist the anime; the fact remains these characters are oblivious and ignorant, it makes these characters non-likable and unbelievable. Anytime anything happens with these characters someone always happens to be there, being there to move the plot. It is as if they have tracking devices. Any time some event, confession, or heartbreak occurs, there's always a third party watching from the sides. Just so you can sympathize with them. Having one drama appear out of nowhere and wanting to sympathize with other members of the group even though they hold no screen-time. This anime didn't have much going for it. It didn't do anything new, nor did it do a good job at doing what's already considered the norm. It had flat characters that feel even more flatlined in its story.
