Watching this in year 2020, I honestly feel this series age quite well as a Harem anime. The story is decent but need to switch off the brain to really enjoy. Even for a year 2012, it is cliche. Most of the characters simply lack of development and I really don't like how they portray the hero, Godou. What's with these dense hero in Harem anime although he's much better when compared with others (Yes Infinite Stratos, I'm looking at you). What really makes me finish this series is the beautiful, elegant, full with mojo, Erica Blandelli. Yoko Hikasa play her so well that I will definitely remember her for years to come. For her sake alone, I would give such high rating. The rest of the character is decent at best and easily forgotten. Overall, this is a harem anime and I'm enjoying. Erica makes it worthwhile and would recommend it for anyone who want's a trashy mindless show as they eat their lunch/dinner.

I will start by saying, if you are a fan of harem, romance, etc. then look no further! This anime is given an overall eight because this is one of those animes that you can say when you're finished, "damn, that is a good harem anime". It stays true to nature, the ecchi is not as bad as it seems( Rated PG compared to HOTD) but it only further emphasizes the romantic scenes. Story 7: could have went so much more in depth, i got confused for a bit, very fast paced and a lot of knowledge being thrown. Art 8: Standard up to date animation, if not a lot more color. Sound 8: Went with the scenes especially the battle music. Character 6: Its a harem action romance, who cares. Enjoyment 10: This is really all that matters, grab some food and just watch the time fly by. Overall 8: You'll remember this one but not for the OP intro. Lol.

Going into Campione! I wasn't really expecting much from it. I'm not a particularly big fan of the harem genre, but the mythology angle of the series intrigued me. While I can't say it's a great show, I will say that it was better than I expected in some ways. That said, it still falters in the areas I expected, namely story and characters. Story - 4 Simply put, Campione! has no central story. The show relies completely on episodic plots; the most you get is a arc that spans 2 episodes. Normally I'd be fine with that, but there needs to be some kind of over-arcing story behind what's going on here, and that's what Campione! fails to deliver. The closest thing to this you'll get is in the romance aspect of the show, but even so, it still feels loose and disjointed. It's all very unfortunate too since the premise of the show had so much promise for a truly epic tale. Art - 8 I actually liked the art and animation a lot in the show. It's all very bright and crisp; very pleasing to watch. Particularly well done are the battle scenes. The many different attacks the characters use are flashy, but generally not too overbearing. Particularly spectacular are the various powers the main character GoDo uses...though the whole golden field of swords thing is a bit overused...I understand that it's an important part of GoDo's abilities, but it's a very baren, featureless place. Regardless, art is definitely one of the shows strongest parts. Sound - 8 Sound here is also pretty well done, once again, shining brightest in the battles taking place. The sounds of the weapons and attacks are all fitting and do a good job of representing the power behind them. I don't do subtitles so I always watch dubbed versions, and in here it's good, but not really amazing...though I was impressed with Monica Rial, who does a really good job in making Erica sound like the Italian she's supposed to be. As far as music goes, nothing really stood out as being particularly impressive aside from the Opening song, BRAVE BLADE!, which is pretty cool. Characters - 7 For the most part, characters here are pretty run-of-the-mill. The male lead is some hapless nobody who stumbles upon some kind of power that makes him special. There's the overbearing family member, the innocent girl, the bossy girl, the stuck-up girl, etc. There's nothing really new, and hardly any character development aside from Erica, who's assigned the role of GoDo's primary love interest, or at least that's the impression I got from a hilariously awkward fully clothed "sex" scene. The only reason I don't rate lower on this is due to the antagonists of the show who are all pretty cool, especially those introduced in the latter half of the show. Enjoyment - 8 Again, given my dislike of the harem genre, I wasn't expecting much from this show. As it turns out, the show didn't really try to push that as its selling point. The biggest draw for this show is in the fights, for sure. Everything about them is just really fun. They're where the animation and sound are at their best, and the dialogue is surprisingly cool to. Throughout the most climactic parts of the fights GoDo will start relaying his foes backstories while preparing to finish them off in a pretty epic fashion. I know that sounds kind of gimmicky, but it's pulled off really well. There is ecchi in the show, but short of the first few episodes it's used pretty tastefully, only happening when it would be sensible given the situation. In the end, I'd have to say Campione! was an unexpected pleasant surprise to me. I wouldn't call it great, but it's certainly worth your time.

Campione is about a world where gods exist and seem to roam free. If you are able to defeat one of these gods, you gain their power or "authority" and are labelled a Campione, and a king. The story itself is about an individual who managed to become a Campione without really meaning to in a "chance" battle. As a Campione the protagonist then gets forced into battles with other Campiones and gods, with a strong harem overtone. It would be a great anime if the writers didn't swing more and more ridiculously towards the harem side, and fan service. With extremely explicit kiss scenes that make less and less sense why they are even necessary as the anime goes along; it really starts to ruin the anime. So if you can deal with that I'd recommend this anime; the god inclusion is quite cool, and the characters are very likeable, and art style is really good.

Campione!: A Divine Premise, a Mundane Execution Campione! is a work that starts with a spectacular concept: what would happen if a normal boy killed a god and gained their powers? The story follows Godou Kusanagi, a young man who, after a chance encounter in Italy, manages to defeat the god of war, Verethragna. In doing so, he becomes a "Campione" or "God-slayer," acquiring the ability to steal the "authorities" (powers) of the gods he defeats. This throws him into a world of mythology, magic, and battles, as he tries to deal with the various mages and priestesses who seek to serve him. The main strength of the anime is, without a doubt, its high-concept premise and its strategic action. The idea of using mythologies from all over the world is fascinating, and the power system is engaging, since Godou must use his abilities in a specific way, which makes the combat not just a matter of brute force, but of wit and strategy. However, the potential falls short. The series suffers from a lack of character depth. Godou is a generic harem protagonist, and the heroines, despite their interesting mythological origins, often feel like flat archetypes whose sole purpose is to serve and glorify the protagonist. The romance and emotion are superficial. Furthermore, the plot becomes tremendously repetitive. The pattern is predictable: a new god appears, a girl gives Godou the information he needs, they fight, Godou wins (sometimes after a girl gives him a kiss to activate a power), and the cycle repeats. Verdict and Rating Campione! is an anime with a great idea that fails in its execution. Although the action is fun and the mythological concept is attractive, it is hampered by a repetitive script, underdeveloped characters, and an excessive use of fanservice that constantly interrupts the narrative flow. It is a series that prioritizes spectacle over a coherent story, which makes it an entertaining but, ultimately, disposable work. I give it a 4/10. Recommendation Yes, but with a strong warning. I recommend it if you are looking for an action series with an interesting fantasy premise and you don't mind a superficial development, a repetitive script, and a lot of fanservice. It is not a good option if you are looking for a deep plot, complex characters, or a narrative that evolves in a significant way.
