Watching Utsu Musume Sayuri was an excruciating, exhausting experience. I thought it would be funny to watch something so notoriously bad, but I was horribly mistaken. Nothing positive could ever come from forcing oneself to endure this short film. It's almost thought provoking in that I can't help but question the creator's mental health. What is the anime about? – I honestly couldn't tell you. I've seen the terms "coming of age," "family," and "surrealism" tossed around, but those imply artistic value. I refuse continue thinking about "what the author intended." It's a bad joke. What is there to lose in watching this? – Several painfully long minutes of your time – Your sanity What is there to gain? – Depression/ thoughts of suicide – A cynical worldview – Stomach ulcers

It is very grotesque and makes me nauseous. It's impressive that 3 minutes could make me feel so many negative emotions at once. If you want to simulate rapid-cycling bipolar then this is the anime for you. Earlier magical girl anime such as Madoka Magica are obvious influences. Utsu Musume Sayuri takes the subversion then subverts it. It is subverception. Not only is Sayuri controlled by dark forces but she is the dark force. A god-like being who toils with inner conflict. When she used her vestigial black horror dildo to strike the quivering gimp creature I felt sick masochistic joy. It was the hottest thing I have ever seen. Sayuri isn't your typical bubbly, air-headed protaganist waifu. She's a dominatrix who wants to spank the hope out of weaker humans' souls. She is utterly captivating but so domineering. This is such a startling subversion of the magical girl genre. While most magical girl anime feature innocent girls fighting evil...Sayuri IS the evil. She is an anti-villain that wields great power and is tempted by her sick perversions to slap the butt of every mere mortal. This isn't helped by her parents' insistence that she must "strike". They utter to her like demons shrouded in darkness "It is time to strike Sayuri. It is the time. You must strike". Although this anime fills me with dread I couldn't pull my soft, inoccent virgin eyes from the screen. It touches on so many philosophical questions. 1) After witnessing the psychological abuse inflicted on Sayuri by her parents I asked myself if her subsequent actions of sadism were nature of nurture. Was she melded into a deity of destruction or was her true nature finally revealed during the ritual striking? 2) Her mother was obviously forced to submit to her father as we can see by the fleshy tentacle of nightmares gagging her mouth throughout act 1 and 2 of the anime. Was Sayuri's decision to strike a show of power because she was sick of seeing her mother degraded so? Was this an attempt to overcome the submission she witnessed on a daily basis? Did her attempt to overcome said submission unwittingly turn her into the very thing she despised?...her father? 3)Does her big eye represent the world view forced on her by her parents? We see her mother popping out of her eyesocket and whispering to Sayuri to proceed with the striking. meanwhile the little eye is free to flit every which way. 4)Was the striking destined to happen? This calls into play the concept of freewill. If our lives are pre-determined then are we really choosing our own actions. This concept is also a nigh-debated part of the bible. Does God grant us freewill? If not then can we really take credit for our good deeds and should we atone for sins God willed us to commit? If the concept of God exists in Sayuri's world then assuming Sayuri chose to strike does that make her her own God? TL;DR- Does God exist?

At three minutes long, Utsu Musume Sayuri is unquestionably one of the most bizarre and fucked up animations I've ever seen, but it is assuredly worth a watch. It's nonsensical, I think incestuous?, and awful in every sense of the word, to the point where 1/4 of the anime is taken up by intro and outro credits and they are the most traditionally enjoyable portions of the entire thing. That said, this absurdly crosses the line of incoherency and sanity to the point where I can't hate it. It's below average, quite possibly even very bad, using the traditional rating a piece of media on a 1 to 10 scale, but it's not just some boring bad anime that happens to be surreal and incoherent. It's propelled into something that makes absolutely no sense, can not be made sense of, or even accurately described. For this reason, it's arguably a treat to watch, and I still remembered how this shitty beast of an OVA went more than two years after first watching it. The worst sin it commits, honestly, is not being longer. I never plan to watch it in my life again, as two viewings is enough to burn its horrendous image in my head.

This should be watched in a "so bad, it's almost good" type of vibe. For some reason people chose to unload their frustration and intense anime knowledge on this 3 minute short that was actually meant to be an art/school project, making it one of the worst rated anime on the site - this might have to do with the fact that the resources used to create such a work were overdone, creating the illusion that this 3 minute short is meant to be watched seriously. The problem is that this is obviously not meant to be taken seriously. This was probably made by a team of 2 or 3 people or maybe even put together by one guy alone and you don't even know why it was made like this or even why it was made. In our daily lives it is often more beneficial to laugh at such things, then to get frustrated over them. ----- Should you watch it? ----- To sum it up, you shouldn't. If you haven't watched it and you are actually browsing reviews about this 3 minute short, then maybe it would be a better use of your time to actually watch it, instead of reading other people's opinion about such an unimportant and ridiculous anime. When you hear/think the word 'anime', what comes to mind generally is fluid artwork that is drawn like a cartoon, like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra, with a good plot and a wide variety of well-written characters. The LAST thing that comes to your head when you think of the word 'anime' to is choppy, CGI-like artwork that personifies a mashup of random creatures and objects put together (read: tentacles and a rectangular flask or vase?) without any substance that forms a cohesive plot, if there is any to begin with. Without a doubt, Striking Daughter encapsulates all of that. But somehow, just somehow, it managed to become that one video that feels THAT mentally violating to even watch. And yes, THAT mentally violating. Art - 6/10 Sound - 6/10 Plot - 1/3 Charac- No, no just, n. This is a 1 by default, and up til now, on the date of 17/01/2017, I have never given an anime a score of 1. Striking Daughter has now claimed the record for the "First Anime that received lowest score ever!'. I can not, in any way, bring myself to critically analyse this 'anime' in any way possible. There's just no way. In summary, don't watch this. Just don't.

This. This is the pinnacle of Japan's dark side of anime. There's dark, as in serious and often visually graphic dealing alot with death and suffering, and then there is Dark, where you dont even know what your watching because its so weird and screwed up that your mind can't even comprehend what it is. Utsu Musume Sayuri is about a "girl" coming of age and her "parents" holding a ceremony to celebrate. at first, this sounds normal and doesnt seem like it would be that bad, but OMG there is so many things wrong with it. First of all, the "girl" is a blob attached to the face of her husband. Yeah, a blob. with a tentacle attached to her face. Then her parents. oh my god her parents. Creatures is the only word that i can think of to describe them. Second is that the story isnt set in any kind of "place" but what appears to be some kind of dimension between dimensions where everything is screwed up and distorted. Third and last is that there is no deep meaning behind its surrealism or story. it is just straight up creepy and trippy and messed up. There is no underlying theme or secret message. There is only the story that you see in front of you. If you still want to watch it, I warn you. Your mind will melt. It was given the dementia genre for a reason. As you watch it, you will feel your mind slowly melting and then just stop working for about 20 mins after you finished the show trying to comprehend what you put it through.

Damn. I thought I had hit rock bottom with Shitcom but then I saw this pile of garbage. Needless to say I was shocked. It left me thinking "Who's idea was this? Who in their right mind gave them funds for this shit?" and mostly "Why?". If you enjoy disturbing images and absolute shit "anime" watch this. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Just...uh, well, you're here. And you're probably here for a reason, so just watch it and get it out of your system. If I'm going to come up with one redeeming feature, it's the length. It IS only 3 1/2 minutes of your life after all. And who knows, maybe we all just don't get it. Maybe it's actually brilliant. Was I the only one who found it sexual? Maybe that's the brilliance! This anime actually shows us a reflection of our inner selves...we see what we want to see! And since most people feel so little of themselves, that's why the score on this is so low...it all makes sense now...at least that's what I'm telling myself so that I can go sleep in peace. No one would make something this weird and also make it just bad, would they?

I understand what all the 1/10 reviews on this OVA are saying. This is utter trash. But all in all, I didn't really hate it? Art - 8/10 The imagery was weird but oddly cool to me, I have no clue what it is about weird shit like this that I dig so much. I just really like the artistic vibe it has to it? I dunno if that even makes sense, everything is so damn weird in this THING. Story - 1/10 Utsu Musume Sayuri is a weird short film with a family who seems to be doing some weird incestuous stuff for the first 30-40 seconds. Nobody in the OVA even looks human so it was even weirder. It progresses to a person asking Sayuri to spank them? Character - 3/10 Basing the score off their designs alone, they all look unnerving. I think that adds an extra layer of surrealism to it. Sayuri's design specifically made me feel freaked out. Sound - 2/10 The voice acting was terrible and the sound effects were a little off at times. All I really gotta say. Enjoyment - 5/10 Not gonna lie, I thought this was an entertaining watch. Overall - 5/10 While I do understand what all the 1/10 reviews are saying, I just found this short film oddly enjoyable. It's not for everyone, and if I weren't interested in intensely weird films, I don't think I would've found this enjoyable. Anyway, I'm a fan of the movies Tetsuo I and 964 Pinocchio. It's rare for me to not like weird things.

The only thing keeping this from being a 1, is this is truly one of the most horrifying experiences ever, it's 3 minutes of pure WHAT THE CRISPY KENTUCKY FRIED F#CK IS GOING ON. The audio was completely indecipherable, but totally unforgettable, this episode is just now permanently burned into my brain, the very being before me has been soldered into my DNA and I will never forget what I have seen. The fact that this is most likely someones kink has completely destroyed my hope in the human race. We are doomed as a species, and I am glad to say that this is the reason why.

This "Anime" prompted me to create my very first 0 rating. It begins with the most disturbing nature documentary I've ever seen on Sayuri's family. It transitions into Sayuri's dad creeping on Sayuri, and then finally to the biggest offender: some masochist who wants to get slapped on his ass. This goes on for 3 MINUTES. At least the "Anime" I rated a 1, at least put in SOME effort. This has none; it's almost as if some 13 year old kid got together with his friends, and created this monstrosity. Humor is a downright joke, I'd rather laugh from being hit with tear gas. I can't make this up, it's 3 minutes just go watch it.

People are being such sissies about this anime! It's just a bad anime! I went to watch this expecting absolute depravity and degeneracy - i was very disappointed - and all i got was mediocre poor storyline and just weirdness and surrealism. idk if i'm scarred or not but it isnt as bad as they say. i was even scared to watch it with my bestie, afraid that it would fuck me up and make me afraid to sleep at night. man, this ois overrated. the animation wasn't so bad, but it wasn't decent either. the audio sounded like some guy in his bedroom, and everything feels like a surreal trap to scare people or whatever. definetely not as bad as people say and totally worth the watch, just for the lolz. 1/10

As funny as it may be to say, I honestly felt this is a pretty artistic films that very effectively captures the original creators vision. In 3 short minutes, this short manages to portray a scene which inflicts all the right emotions for a "wtf" type of film like this, confusion, disgust, maybe even a bit of fear? As famous filmaker Sam Esmail once said, "plot is just a tool to explore tone." The story for this 3 minute short may be almost incomprehensible, but I honestly don't think that matters as it succeeds in its atmosphere and nature. The entire film is basically just an extremely complex and grotesque 3d model performing weird acts on what I guess is canonically its mother. Not deep, not groundbreaking, this film doesn't make me rethink life or teach me a new lesson. All it does in such a short amount of time is set up an extremely bizarre scene, employs crude animation and hellish sound design to give the viewer a disturbing feeling. This film perfectly utilizes animation, sound, and a vague enough description to create a solid scene that can hold an uncomfortable atmosphere for its entire length, as well as effectively creep out the audience for a solid 3 minutes. Good film

So recently a friend of mine was going into the worst rated anime (every category) Long story short, he found this anime and we watched it together At first we were like "wtf are we watching", after a few more worst rated anime I decided to re-watch this over and over. The only thing I enjoyed is how we managed to make the line "yes, yes" a meme and its fun to say it in Sayuri style I might've also memorized the entire script of this anime apart from the mother's line since its really inaudible All in all its really creepy and it does speak for its category which is in dementia 10/10 would show this to friends to traumatize them

Day 4/1/2021 Time Zone - GMT Time - 1:08pm *Goes on YouTube* *searches for Utsu Musume Sayuri* Sorry, this content is age-restricted. *OPM ok face* *expects very very disturbing stuff* Time - 1:12pm *finds video* *watches it* *OPM ok face as I finish* *rethinks life* ----- I must say I went into this thinking I would experience one of the worst things known to anime, but with my tolerance of cursed images and other strange figures I have seen on the internet, this did not phase me one bit. People said Metamorphosis was bad. Came out disappointed as I was not phased at all. People said Mars of the Destruction was bad. Came out disappointed as I was not phased at all. People said Nami was bad. Ok, that one was actually kinda weird. Maybe I am not human, maybe my soul is dead, but I will say this isn't even that strange if you live in very questionable subreddits from time to time. God, what have I done to myself? 10/10 originality though. 10/10 outside the box. 10/10 based content. 6 overall.

Wtf did I just watch-everyone that watched this show For this review, I will be focusing on story, art, sound, character and enjoyment, although I will be wondering why I will even be focusing on those. there may be spoilers ahead? yeah, probably no... Story: This beautiful piece's story may be interpreted with several different ways. Some may think it is about a naughty child who is being spanked for some reason, some may think it's a hidden message about depression or abuse, and some may simply think it is about, huh? what was it about again? If I hadn't read the synopsis I wouldn't have known. But hey, credits to them for having a story, at least I think it has a story. Art: Masterful, beautiful, gorgeous looking aesthetically pleasing visuals with the finest art anime could ever even think to produce. Except it's the complete opposite of that. Or is it? Sound: Straight up disturbing. They weren't even trying to even make it good. It feels like something that a group of pre school children recorded in hopes of becoming a hentai voice actor some day Character: Dildo san, butt chan and elephant chan? Are these even considered characters? Enjoyment: No, I did not enjoy it. Overall: This is hentai but only with worse art than it already has. I can't begin to explain what's wrong with this anime. I am 10 days late from april fools, but hey I can still make an april fools review.

I'm someone who doesn't understand most of the review for this short. Most people say you "shouldn't waste your time" on something that's just an odd experience that lasts around 3 minutes. It's stupid and practically incomprehensible, but is it really worth warning people about. This is the kind of thing that you need to see to believe. You may think it's dumb, you may think it's funny. This isn't Citizen Cane, it's more like an SFM video that was made in 30 mins. The whole point of this is being weird for the sake of it. Odd designs, dialogue (in English for some reason), and voice acting all make it a tad disturbing yet oddly engaging for its short run time. Try it out. Send it to a friend, you'll know if it's for you halfway through.

The entire three minute animation is entirely nonsensical with no substance to it. While it's not the worst thing ever conceived of. It gets a low rating not because it was offensive, but because it was really boring. It was not disturbing at all, instead it was rather grotesque and could be comparable to a YouTube poop or a baby sensory video. The entire animation could be summed up as colorful blobs that babble nonsense and perform some weird fetish ritual. The only redeeming aspect is its "creativity" I guess, so it has something going for it. Besides, it's only three minutes, so I only really recommend watching it if there is a reason its "disturbing nature" didn't drive you away.

what did i just watch. why did i watch this. i just made this account to review this and jesus it definitely deserves the 1 it recieved, but damn, it was really weird and extremely hilarious. i honestly don't know what to say about this, there's no explaining this really. the person who made this is clearly a nutjob but in the most funniest and messed up way. i wish the creator a good therapy session bc he and i sure need it. if you are considering watching this, probably don't but if you do, be prepared to have an experience.

I first watched this short about ten years ago, and rewatched it over and over again because it stuck with me. I'm a big fan of creepy, strange, uncanny animations and this one is no exception. It's surreal and the art style is really interesting. The characters are simple but bizarre, the plot is confusing but intriguing, the song at the end is great. I found it to be very entertaining to watch and rewatch, as I noticed many funny little details the more i looked. It's very short but does exactly what it seems to be made for: to bewilder the viewer and leave them with questions. I think that sometimes people react negatively to things they are unable to understand, and I don't think this short is meant to be understood. If you're into weird art, I think this is worth watching.
