I have to explain that I watched this in french dub because it heavily impacts the grade: In France, this anime is called Nicky Larson, and the whole anime atmosphere is goofed up like a 4kid dub would do and it has a legendary opening (sing it and everyone will sing along) in fact, the anime is so goofed up that when a character gets shot he will be saying out loud "ouch ouch! you hurt me, meanie!" I'm not making this up it's 100% real. Hearing this you'll think that it ruined the atmosphere and it kinda did but surprisingly it transformed it into an incredible comedy gold anime and a lot of people loved it, many people of my age will remember they liked this anime as much as dbz or naruto, this anime is fun, beautiful for your ears and your eyes well deserved 10/10.

This is the 1st time, I'm reviewing an anime. I believe, that City Hunter is by far the best anime series I've ever watched, and enjoyed. I want to thank the makers, cast and crew for making the show. This goes for, not only season 1, but also for seasons 2 & 3. All the characters - Saeba, Kaori, Saeko, Umibozu, Miki - so beautifully created. The episodes are funny, lovable and even the 1st end credits' song, is too good. Truly, who wouldn't GET WILD after watching this masterpiece of an anime series I hope that City Hunter can be continued / remade, in the future.

I had wanted to see this anime for a long time, because the synopsis is interesting. An excellent hired gun who takes jobs only from pretty women. At first I was quite impressed by how perverted Ryo Saeba is, it was a strange thing but as I progressed in the series I came to find him somewhat funny thanks to Kaori who was always there to control Ryo's impulses. I really liked that it is an episodic anime, each episode a new adventure for Ryo and his weakness for women, still retaining his skills as a hired gun, a great combination of comedy and action. For now I only watched this season and I hope to continue advancing with the following ones, overall I give this season a 10.

Overall, I'm pretty mixed on the show. The first few episodes got me hooked and the ending was satisfying, but the middle was a pretty mixed bag. The biggest issue with this series is the lack of variety in jokes. There is 1. Ryo is a perv! 2. Kaori slams Ryo with a hammer for being a perv and 3. Kaori is a tomboy! There tends to be some variety with Ryo's perversion and how Kaori is bullied for being a tomboy, but the hammer joke gets real old real fast. There is only a handful of times they shake up the hammer joke, but a vast majority of the time it is the same stale punchline. The show can have some interesting set-ups and funny jokes, but the hammer joke just felt like a crutch for the writers when they didn't have any ideas, and it was the main reason it took me so long to push through all the episodes. With that said, if you can look past the occasional episode that abuses the hammer joke way too often, you'll sometimes be rewarded with other episodes that use it sparingly and are often the more memorable episodes in the series. If you don't feel too annoyed or underwhelmed with the hammer joke, I'd easily recommend the series. However, if you do find the same exact joke used over and over, I wouldn't force yourself to watch through the show in its entirety. Other final notes: The intro for the first half is very stylistic and is backed with a real distinct song, while the second half of the series' intro was something I eventually skipped. It has the style visually, but the song is lacking. GET WILD AND TOUGH was a great outro though. It's not an intentional joke, but spotting the mandatory M&Ms advertisement sparkled in every episode starting in the second half was pretty funny. Sometimes it'll make sense being a literal packaging of M&Ms, but other times it can be found in strange spots seeing that the creators had some contract they had to fulfil.

This is my first review of an anime series it maybe look different from what you see in other reviews so forgive me if my review is not as good as others. So this last year I tried to watch some of the good old animes and one of them is the city hunter season 1, Looking at the story is a bit cliche since its really an old anime and the art style is kind of reminds me of some western cartoons in the 70s shows like the old G. I JOE ish except it has more details but what separates it from being a western cartoon show is that it has mixed of what is currently the anime has it has fan service. And also what makes me hooked on this anime is the character designs of female characters it is somewhat closer to reality (body structure) but on the male characters, it's a different story. Also, season 1 itself has some of the best songs even now I enjoy most of this anime it gives me a kind of nostalgic feeling, and the ending song delivers some serious vibe which is what I love in season1. overall the city hunter season 1 for me is the best city series around because of the elements I mention and also because it sets a standard on what will you expect when you watch the whole series of city hunter.
