I absolutely loved Kamisama Hajimemashita! I loved that the characters all had very different personalities instead of the usual boring main character who falls for someone cool. The story was well done and I highly recommend reading the manga, it continues much further and it's just really awesome. It has a good amount of comedy and I'm a sucker for romance so this was a perfect anime for me. I really hope they make another season of this.

You can read the basic outline of story from synopsis itself. I need not write it. Now coming to how the story felt, its light and very nice. There is nothing complicated to think about how someone did it or anything, no great super fights with action, don't expect that. There are but nothing too serious. The lead characters Nanami and Tomoe, and their of life and obstacles after Nanami becomes a God, very nice and very well shown. Very nice, light and hearty story. The music, the ending was too too too good. Once you hear it, its like you go into a trance "ah ah ah ah." You have to see it to appreciate it. Story: 9/10 Art: 9/10 Sound: 10/10 Character: 9/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

LOL I really enjoyed this anime! :D Because it's the same director as Fruits Basket, it has the same humor going on (if you know what I mean). The story is pretty interesting and if you're an uber shoujo manga/anime fan like me, don't worry about it xD This anime isn't cliche like any other shojo manga/anime. They do things that you would least expect! All in all: really good, funny, and randon anime!

I know that many people only take into account how good the story and animation are when choosing their favorites, while others take into account how relevant the authors, studio and team involved in the work are, even basing themselves on past works made by them, and I also respect these criteria very much. However, Kamisama Hajimemashita is my favorite because of several other factors that can't even be catalogued or placed as a conventional parameter of choice, because it was something very unique. This anime wasn't recommended to me, but one day, when I was younger, I was watching it on giganima (an app I used at the time in 2014/2015) and guided by the curiosity that the cover generated in me, I decided to do the 3 episode rule, but I ended up getting carried away and watched it all during the early hours of the morning, then something very unusual happened, whenever I finished an anime, I felt a sense of relief, like that feeling of accomplishment when you finish something important, but with Kamisama Hajimemashita it was something different, it was like a feeling of lack, incompleteness, I got so attached to the story that I was sad that I didn't have more of “that” at the same time as I was extremely excited and restless, in a good way, with what I had watched. A while later, when I got older, I was able to see more clearly why this anime had such an impact on me, and the answer, if I were to try to explain it in just one word, would be “adolescence”. It's not that it was one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, but because it came at a time in my life when I still couldn't deal with or understand certain feelings, being more open, at that time I had only watched fighting and action anime, such as naruto, bleach, knights of the zodiac, dragon ball z, among others. ... I'd never had any contact with anime more focused on drama and romance, and guess what, I started watching this one right after my first heartbreak. My point is that, no matter how good or bad an anime is in terms of story or animation, people will always choose their favorite anime based on what phase of their life they were in at the time and how much a particular work was able to fill that moment in their life. When I watched this anime I was helpless, needy and bored with shoonen works, and it just so happened that it was Kamisama Hajimemashita that got me out of it, but it could have been any other anime with a similar premise. This wasn't a critique or review of the work, it was more like an open letter. but if you've read this far, thank you very much for your attention! ^^

"Humans are weak; they break easily. If they are broken, it means everything is over". I just finished this anime, and wow, it became one of my favourites. I'm in love with the soundtrack, the first time I listened it was like omg I really need this as my ringtone. I'm in love with the characters too, the art is so nice and the story is very interesting. [Story] 9~ A young girl, Nanami, lost her house and met a strange man, Mikage, who was hanging from a tree. She saved Mikage and told him her story. He gave his house to Nanami as a thank you. She accepted the offer because she was homeless. When Nanami arrived at Mikage home, she learned Mikage used to be the Earth Deity of the shrine and he gave her his mark so that she was the new deity. At first Nanami is reluctant, but as she lives with Tomoe, Onikiri and Kotetsu she begins to understand and works hard in her new position as the Earth Deity. As the story progresses Nanami finds herself falling in love with Tomoe, but he rejects her because the love between a human and a yokai is taboo. Despite saying that, Tomoe finds himself falling in love with her too. [Art & Sound] 9~ As I said, the soundtrack is awesome, both opening and ending sound really good, I can't remove it from my head... "nee kamisama, warui ko ni naritai yo...". I found the art so beautiful, it reminds me to the art that Noragami have. [Characters] 10~ I love the way that all the characters have it point. All of they are so funny but they have an history that can hit your kokoro. Tomoe: It's one of the main characters. Is a fox. It has a difficult temperament and is very strict, but he's also friendly and obedient. Momozono Nanami: The other main character. She is warm, friendly and gentle. Despite her human condition, and little spiritual power in the beginning, she is able to change people with great determination and kindness, making them see the right way and helping them with their problems. [Enjoyment] 10~ I really enjoyed this anime. I can't wait to see the second season.

WHY DO PEOPLE SLEEP ON THIS ANIME?? it's so heartwarming... As a huge fan of shoujo, this is probably one of the best shoujos I've watched. The story is catchy, and the romance scenes between Nanami and Tomoe are so cute...(I can't stop watching a part of episode 9) Not to mention, the soundtracks are so well composed, matching the scenes, while maintaining the spiritual theme of shrines, and incorporating Japanese nature into it. for the main couple: while Nanami can be quite stubborn at times, it is this personality trait that pushes her to strive for things she wishes to obtain. She has a very positive personality :) I did find Tomoe kind of mean, although it makes their chemistry very funny and cute which is delightful to watch. A funny, cheerful and warming anime - a nice cup of tea.

I really enjoyed Kamisama. It really sparked a happiness in me and I finished it pretty quickly. It was so much fun to watch and the characters were so attachable. The story line also hooked me pretty quickly, and though I have incredibly low standards for anime (lol) I think this one is pretty good. I was intenstly invested in Tomoe and Nanami's relationship, and the heartbreak of the taboo was hard for me to handle. I think that the really good anime are the one that make you feel as if you were in their shoes, and feel emotional over the characters and their story. The ones that can make you cry and laugh and cheer and feel what the characters are feeling. This show definitely did that for me. Sometimes my heart was breaking, other times I felt anger or humor, just like Nanami. It was really sad in some ways, and comedic in others, but the characters, their troubles, and their relationships will steal your heart if you give it half a chance. I highly recommend this anime, it's a good one. I really enjoyed it and if you like a good romance with lots of sadness and some comedy, I think you'll like it too!!

[STORY] ----------- Overall, this season of Kamisama Hajimemashita was very interesting. I for one really enjoy romance and shoujo, and this anime really hit the jackpot. Even though it was really center around only one male protagonist, it was still very enjoyable for me. [ART] ----------- The graphics were fantastic, and it was really high quality, adding that the scenery was well detailed as well. [SOUND] ----------- I have watched both dubbed and subbed for this anime, and the voice actors / actresses really did a fantastic job of showing emotions in their character, especially Tomoe, Momozono, and Kurama. Even so, I don't remember hearing much background music when it was really needed. [CHARACTER] ----------- The characters were extremely cute, especially Tomoe and Momozono. They both had cute chibi moments and romantic moments. Even when they are serious, the producers really did a good job of showing their emotions that they want to show. Kurama was an interesting character. He had this very 'dark' appearance, making me think that he'll stay an antagonist throughout the whole series, but I was wrong. I guess you really can't judge a character by their looks. [ENJOYMENT] ----------- The story had a really good plot, and they really did a good job when it came to the main characters by passing their obstacles and adventures. The love Momozono had for Tomoe really made me want to keep watching the whole series, including season 2 and the Kako-hen as well. Their romantic scenes really made me hope that they would eventually fall in love with each other and have a happy ending of this series, but you'll have to watch yourself what really happens. [OVERALL] ----------- I wrote this review after I watched the whole series, including the Kako-hen and the Kamisama, Shiawase ni Naru part, so I don't really remember which events were in this anime of the series, although, I do prefer the 2nd season over the 1st, because it had a lot more interesting plots on the story, although season 1 was still fantastic and enjoyable. FINAL SCORE: 9/10

If you want to watch a lighthearted and feel-good anime to help brighten up your day.. then make sure to watch Kamisama Hajimemashita! It will fill your tummy up with good vibes and make you feel warm and fluffy inside-- like swallowing a puppy. lol :P STORY - 10 I don't want to put any spoilers here, I want you to discover for yourself why this anime is special. To be honest, at first I thought the storyline was simple, but then later on in the series it became more complex and unique. ART - 10 The art is amazing. The characters were beautifully drawn, they all look picture-perfect. SOUND - 9 I watched the english dubbed version (please don't judge me.. I'm still pretty new at the anime scene and I have yet to master the art of reading-the-sub-while-watching-the-animation technique). The character's voices are nice. They made the characters' persona more solid and their acting made me connect with the show more. CHARACTER - 10 The characters were relatable and I really like that in the shows that I watch. They have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and the struggle to make things better for themselves and the people around them it very touching. ENJOYMENT - 10 I bindge-watched this anime all night, I didn't expect to be hooked after just one episode! OVERALL - 10 I didn't expect to like this show as much as I wanted to when I first started watching this. I usually shy away from ultra-cheesy stuff.. but this one is sweet without being overly-sweet to the point of getting cavities. It's a feel-good aniime about love and friendship, and I like it a lot.

This is a lighthearted romantic comedy with magical/spirit elements that you should watch if you like that sort of thing. This anime is great because of the kind heart and thoughtfulness of Nanami, her good mood puts you in a good mood, but she has flare too which is fun. Tomoe's past keeps it interesting. Basically the humor and build up of the characters is what makes this anime 9/10, it's not like the greatest story ever told, but who cares, it's funny and keeps you coming back for more. Also, they mostly wrap up everything with explanations, unlike most other anime I've seen. I might be under the influence of the opening song but I thought this anime was totally awesome!, anybody who doesn't like that song isn't awake when its on.

First Impression: The first thought that came to mind when I started watching this anime was, “Cute”. It is mainly a romance and comedy anime. You can tell by first glance that this is an anime directed toward a more female audience. The plot is revealed rather quickly and is easy to understand. It doesn’t leave room for confusing and makes for a more relaxing watch. The only ‘First Impression’ down side I had was the the lack of an ‘originality’ vibe. Though I have not seen an anime with this particular storyline, it feels slightly played out. Despite the lack of this vibe, however, I did enjoy this anime. Enjoyments: What I enjoyed, and you might as well, was the expressions of the Genre(s). The romance was well paced and enjoyable as well as the Comedy. I, personally, am very picky when it comes to what makes me laugh, however this anime did have me laughing time and time again. I also enjoyed the two main characters (though my favorite is Tomoe) as well as the storyline/plot. Despite it lacking the ‘originality’ vibe, it was still a very appealing plot to me. I enjoyed the struggles that the main female character had because of her humanity, as well as the pace of the entire anime as a whole. Last but not least, I also did enjoy the animation style. It wasn’t too extravagant and yet it was well done in its own simplistic way. Downsides: I have already stated one downside which was the lack of the anime feeling original. Aside from not feeling very original, it also lacked suspense. It did not seem to have that gripping sensation that some animes have. You might know the ones I am talking about; the ones that cause you to keep saying, “Just one more episode” after every single one you watch. Though I did enjoy the anime’s romance, which I thought to be cute, was a little cliché. It was mildly predictable; part of that simplistic aspect I mentioned previously. The last downside I have to mention is the lack of brain power it takes. I, personally, like an anime that takes a little more time to be figured out. Despite this, as well as the other mentioned downsides, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime and these ‘downsides’ weren’t all that large of an issue. Don’t let them get in the way of being what makes you enjoy a little gem like this. Other Information: Overall I truly loved this anime. I thought it was adorable and will definitely be watching the second season. I enjoyed it so much that I am actually reading the Manga. It is within my taste (though I know everyone has different ‘buds’). Though I give this anime an eight out of ten, you should decide for yourself if you enjoyed(will enjoy) this anime.

So, my rating when writing this review takes into account both Season 1 and 2 (I hardly remember what happens in S1, so no point in writing a separate review). S1 itself was a 6/10 for me. I had to force myself to continue, and even though I liked Tomoe and Nanami, the plot and everything else wasn't to my taste. That being said, S2 and the OVAs (which I will do an actual review on) is where it starts to get good. This is the reason why I finish all animes I start. Kamisama Kiss has been labelled underrated, and are loads of people's favourite romance anime, so I had to see where the hype was at. And I'm glad I continued. Although S1 was a little slow (for me) and lowkey a bit cringe, I never failed to enjoy Tomoe's character. Nanami as a God and her development as a character (in terms of being a God only) felt so insufferably slow I almost quit multiple times. She never annoyed me as a character, it just felt like she never did her God duties or even acted like a proper one. She was constantly being saved, and I'm glad she realised that. S2 was SO MUCH BETTER. Not only do hers and Tomoe's relationship develop, so does her independence as a God. I actually recognise her as one now. Aside from that, the OP and EP in S1 is so catchy. I almost hate it, but love it at the same time. All the other characters introduced were fairly interesting (I have a favourite from S2, but no spoilers). The story itself was different to the usual high school romance, and I'm kinda glad. Although it took me a while to properly get into Kamisama Kiss, it was refreshing how different it was. As a romance, Kamisama Kiss absolutely nailed the slow (and not excruciatingly slow kind) progression of the MC's relationship. Plus, they work really well alongside each other, it's super sweet. It was funny too, so even though I had to force myself to finish S1, it wasn't a total pain to do so. Overall though, I'd give the anime a 8/10. S1 by itself was a little bit of a let down considering how so many people hype it up, but S2 and the OVAs really picked it up. I wouldn't say it's up there in my top 5 romances, but it was very satisfying. And the ending didn't leave you on a cliffhanger, so it's nicely tied up in a bow (somewhat).

The Tomoe Show! An observation: almost every self-proclaimed Kamisama fan I've come across just so happens to also be a gigantic Tomoe fan. This begs the question: are there that many fans of the SHOW, or are there just a lot of Tomoe fan(girls)? It's definitely the latter. And therein lies the problem with Kamisama. If you're like me, who is very much outside the target audience, and doesn't have cartoon hearts appear in my eyes every time Tomoe is on-screen, this show is probably not going to blow you away. I've seen plenty of good shoujo, but I cannot in good conscious add this particular entry to the list. Let's start off with my largest grievance of the show: the main character. The primary reason I think shoujo does high school romance anime better than their non-shoujo counterparts is because there are so many excellent leads in the genre (see: my favorite character list). Nanami, however, is not one of them. The fact she starts off homeless and is sort of "rescued" by a fox familiar and they form this unusual duo is somewhat compelling on the surface; but unfortunately that's where the praise stops. So she quickly develops feelings for our fox-boy, and that's when things really go awry for her character. Anytime Tomoe as much as looked at another girl, it's like "here we go again". The jealousy, the attitude, the pouting. Ugh. All for someone who you are not romantically involved with in any way. When she learns that he once loved a human, despite him telling her he could never do such a thing, she basically uses that information to BLACKMAIL him into going on a date with her. (btw, there's a good reason he didn't tell her). Ugh. For the most part, Nanmi just came off as a childish, selfish, petulant brat who had a school-girl crush on the hot fox-boy. Not only that, but she more or less lost all sense of self or individuality, as this crush consumed her. She simply became, like most of the audience, "the girl that liked Tomoe". Nothing more, nothing less. Now, onto Tomoe. It's tough to render an opinion when he's a character that was very clearly not made with me in mind. In a way, I feel like he's the male version of Holo from Spice and Wolf. Half-animal? Check? Hot? Check? Slightly tsundere? Check. Deity? Check. Basically created for the sole purpose of being the perfect anime waifu/husbando. None of the other characters really stood out for me except for possibly Mizkuki . He's definitely quite a bit more whimsical than Tomoe, which I actually liked, because Tomoe was kind of a sour-puss for the most part. As far as the other stuff, like the story, visuals, and sound, I don't have a ton to say. There wasn't much "meat" to the story, and the visuals/sound didn't stand out to me in any way, bad or good. But again, that's not really the headliner here. This is very much a show that was going to live or die on the strength of the two main characters: Minami, the self-insert character, and Tomoe, the ultimate husbando. If those two things are enough for you to rate this pretty run-of-the-mill shoujo a 9 or 10, then by all means, do that. Because there's just not much of actual substance besides that. Having said all that, it is not awful, just slightly below average. There are some funny moments in the show, as despite its "demons" tag, it's actually a very light-hearted series. As mediocre a main character as I thought Minami was overall, her interactions with the familiars were at times were entertaining. TL;DR: There are no Kamisama fans, just Tomoe fans (ok that's hyperbole, but you get my point)

- English Review (Translated version) I had quite a few hopes for "Kamisama Kiss". Seriously. I was attracted to the atmosphere and the thematic: traditional Japanese folklore, a pinch of real world mixed with legends, divinities, spirits... Doesn't sound bad at all, right? Saving the distances, its bases reminded me of "Noragami", an anime that I have enjoyed quite a lot (without being a masterpiece). Okay, where's the problem then? Maybe I should intone the "mea culpa" in this case. Maybe I should have informed myself a little beyond the environment of "Kamisama Kiss" to understand that it's basically a romance story, a shojo. A pure and hard shojo, I might add. Excessively shojo, probably. I am not against the inclusion of love in anime (or in any audiovisual piece). On the contrary, I think it is something natural and basic in life and as such should be shown. I insist... Where is the fault then? On which "Kamisama Kiss" bases its plot so much on the romance between the protagonists, and it forgets everything else and ends up clogging up. A lot. As if you eat tons of chocolate every day and finally you hate it for having insisted so much. "Kamisama Kiss" has a lot of totally wasted elements, which is very sad thing. As I said, it has a japanese folklore based atmosphere, full of supernatural creatures. Yes, a ambience that is not taken advantage of at any time. Let's be serious, if this packaging were removed, the whole plot could be exactly the same with a couple of arrangements. This is very frustrating, because this japanese background of legend is really taken care of and well accomplished (the music is great, for example), but everything is for nothing. And we come to the characters. There are two main characters, Nanami and Tomoe. Nanami is the typical girl inclined to fall in love, clumsy, but with a good heart. Tomoe is the typical attractive, with a stormy past, but he hides kindness inside. Well... they are not the most original thing in the world, but at least the secondary ones will be more varied. Secon... what? "Kamisama Kiss" starts and ends in both of them. There are a short group of minor characters that appear from time to time, whose transcendence is really null and they are there because of the demands of the script. Stop counting. As I said, the lack of use of resources is maximum and in the section of characters is no different. Not everything is bad. The technical section is a great result and the music have a quite high level. And I suppose that whoever likes pure and hard romances, without any kind of variety or nuances, will enjoy this anime, but this is not my case. I won't stop complaining about what might have been, but it wasn't. A pity. - Spanish Review (Original and faithful version) Tenía bastantes esperanzas puestas en "Kamisama Kiss". En serio. Me atraía la ambientación y la temática: folklore tradicional japonés, una pizca de mundo real mezclado con leyendas, divinidades, espíritus... ¿No suena nada mal, no?

The story was truly fascinating and interesting to watch. The first episode greatly captured my attention. Thus, I kept on watching. The storyline keeps you entertained. It is very rare to find such a good anime as this! I am completely in love with everything in this anime, both the manga and the series were masterpieces. The story is extremely cute and fun 9/10 Characters are drawn very neatly and enjoyable to look at. All the characters are beautiful and unique in their own way. Plus, all the boys are either hot or cute. Heheh 10/10 The music in the series is quite good and I liked the voices of the characters. They were very calming and sweet. The voices showed just the right amount of emotion the character felt at that moment. 9/10 The characters are one of the most important things that make this anime so good. Their pasts are all very mysterious. The characters themselves are very unique and fun. There're not a single character that is boring in any way. All of them are very worthy and should be protected at all costs. 10/10 This anime gave me a lot of feels. The small feels were just as important as the major ones. It is a very heart-warming anime. It has a lot of cute moments, comedy, action, and more. I wish the next season would come out faster. I can't wait for it!! The enjoyment is 10/10 of course. So my overall of this anime is 10/10. I recommend it all the people that are romance, comedy, and fantasy lovers, because this anime will be your paradise! I want to write in caps, but i am not supposed to smh

My friend introduced me to this anime, and to be honest, after listening to the opening song I thought that this anime would be really cheesy. I'm usually very picky about what I see and read, meaning I drop anime/manga rather quickly and easily. Two days later I was done with the anime. A day later I started reading the manga and finished within a week. Yup, I was shamelessly addicted. The story (9/10): I believe the story is original. Of course it has its archetypes and cliches but it isn't like any other anime that I've seen. Furthermore, there aren't many plot holes (at least I couldn't find one)...rather, it's the complete opposite! Anyone who has read the manga would agree with me that the story is really well planned out. I'm looking forward to what will happen. I'm pretty excited because I can trust that the writer will do a good job. The art (10/10): This is one of the rare anime that has art that beautifully preserved the style of the manga's. The sound (9/10): Dat Tomoe's Soundtrack. The characters (9/10): I absolutely adore all the characters of this anime. Nanami, the protagonist, isn't some weakling who relies on handsome men to do all her work. No, no, Nanami knows how to stand up for herself, voices her opinion, and isn't afraid of being different. I also like how Tomoe and Mizuki develop throughout the anime. As the anime progresses (and will continue to do so in Season 3) little bits of their pasts are revealed, but at the same time their mystery, which is what keeps them interesting, is kept. The enjoyment (10/10): This anime is a drug. It's one of those anime that takes you on a violent emotional rollercoaster ride, makes you feel all the feels, and then leaves you with this massive hole in your heart when it's over. There isn't a single boring moment in the anime. Overall (10/10): In my opinion, this anime would mostly interest girls (not trying to be sexist. Just sayin'). Anyone looking for gory, complete action-packed anime probably wouldn't enjoy this. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this anime and strongly encourage others to give it a shot. Watch at least the first 3 episodes!

I'd just like to say that I really did enjoy this anime. I was laughing so much through out the series because the comedic timing is great. The music was also, in my opinion great, the op and ending song were pleasant, but the background music was outstanding. It fit Kamisama Hajimemashita like a glove. I also really liked the art. The characters were nicely done, and it was nice to see their personalities come through their appearance. AND DAMN, TOMOE IS A FINE PIECE OF EYE CANDY. I also felt that the voice actors were chosen well.^^ I do have a few complaints though. The story was very very rushed. If you guys have read the manga, you would understand what I mean. Tomoe's and Nanami's relationship grew at an unrealistically fast rate in this anime, but none the less, it was still enjoyable to watch. The plot is interesting and will pull you in right from the start. I'm hoping for a second season ^^
