I came into this one with very high hopes and expectations. I left feeling happy that it was over. I honestly expected a lot more from this one. Aside from a chuckle here or there, the jokes fell completely flat. The humor was barely palatable and was for the most part unrefined and obnoxious. Actually, obnoxious is the perfect descriptor for Kamisama Kiss, the first word that springs to mind if asked to describe the series. The romance, if you could even call it that, was contrived and was as tropey as they come. Absolutely nothing in this series felt original. What can I say nice about this series?.. The art was nice I guess, although nothing special for the era. The OST fit the mood pretty well. But seriously, nothing about this show was well written.

I recently gave this one a re-watch over a couple days, and, well... it's okay-ish. Honestly, though, it just falls into the same trap of just being another not very memorable shoujo anime, in the end. Nanami is actually pretty tolerable for a main character- she doesn't fall to pieces without her love interest around, and once she gets her feet under her, she's actually pretty capable. Her LI familiar is okay-looking, I guess, but he slowly warms to her over the series, and the rest of the characters seem to fit in well- even if they aren't very memorable, either. The plot is also really nice, if just a tad donr-to-death. While the supernatural aspect sets this one apart slightly, it's really just "shoujo harem anime #8364 but with yokai". If you're looking for a fun, easy watch to kill a few hours, I'd say it's not a bad selection- there are better, too, but there are still plenty worse!

Kamisama Hajimemashita or Kamisama Kiss was made over a decade ago, but that’s not enough to compensate for how cliche and typical it was. There have been several shows that feature a headstrong lead woman who believes if she tries to do her best, she can do anything; and in effect, other characters find themselves drawn to her. I guess the plot line was somewhat different - I mean, it’s not everyday that an ordinary high schooler is chosen to become a god out of whim. However, for something released after the likes of Kachou wa Maid-sama and Special A, it was just okay. Appeal for the series probably comes from the so-called forbidden master-servant affair; supernatural taboo making it all the more sweet. It could have been more enticing if the romance were less forced and the two actually had chemistry. What’s more is that the presumed charisma from the main character caused an unnecessary, nonsensical reverse harem. Many things that are unexplained are either attributed to the magic/other worldly powers or left up in the air. At the end, the anime can be described as, well, cute. Adorable, sure. Good, though, I’m not so certain.

I watched this anime because I thought it was the same or similar to InuYasha, Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, Toradora, Kaichou wa Maid sama, Lovely Complex, etc... Sometimes it's similar to some anime I have named before. This anime is unexpected about reactions or action scenes. The main character is Momozono, Nanami; and the other main character is Tomoe -a guardian of a sanctuary, called 'family'-. The plot is simple but very entertaining, I had fun watching this anime. -It's normal when the genre is romantic comedy-. The serie is about a deity (Nanami-chan) and her family (Tomoe) -as I said before-. I really liked the animation of this anime, so detailed and lively expressions. The anime is so colorful, It has a lot of colours all the time -clothes, body, hair, landscape, etc...- The personality of Nanami-chan is so confused about all, she thinks it's useless all time, because Tomoe is always helping her. She has a lot of self-esteem and she is to easy to motivate. Although she wants to help in everything she can. The personality of Tomoe is so particular, because he is so introvert, impolite, unkind, but sometimes with Nanami it's just the opposite, he is friendly, worried about her 24/7, modest, responsable, etc... The relationship between them is so strange, sometimes both are thinking about 'x is asshole', but sometimes they are so kind and funny. Thanks for read it.

Before I start this review I must say that I quite like this anime even though it doesn't seem like anything special. My suggestion for this series is that if it interests you even a little watch the first few episodes and if you don't like the characters, go ahead and drop the series. Story(6): There really is nothing in the way of an overall plot. This is to be expected as it is only 13 episodes. The anime is just an average shojo, romance, comedy type show. This does not make the show bad, as it is still enjoyable watching the lives of the characters. Characters(6): I found the characters in this series to be enjoyable(I must also admit that I have a soft spot for characters such as Nanami). However, weather you like the characters or not depends on what your looking for in a character. Art(6): The art serves its purpose in telling the story, it it's pleasing to look at just not something you would look at and say, "What a masterpiece of artwork!" (if you know what I mean) Sound(7): There's nothing much to say about the music, except that the songs were cute and fit the overall tone of the anime quite well. They were also fun to listen to. I would recommend this anime to those looking for: -A short anime(though it does have a 2nd season if you liked the 1st season) -Some romantic comedy -Shoujo -A little bit of supernatural elements

The anime sets a light mood to viewers. It was never a type like other yokai series which deliberates a heavy atmosphere throughout the entire stretch of the series. Rather, it sets a light mood and humorous story line which fascinates me as a anime lover. The chemistry between these 2 protagonists is typical, i should say... But to the very least, they had showed a good-vibes type of team-up... This is one of the anime i would recommend to be watched... i hope that the creators would maintain such mood of the story so that it will never be a classical type of yokai stories as i had read to other manga series. It is pretty inviting in its own way...

Konnichiwa! Mina! It's 9:30pm as I'm typing. Just finished this hilarious anime and it deserve a review so here i go. I thoroughly enjoyed this anime. The personalities of all the characters really shine through and you can almost feel the connection between various characters. It finished on a happier note which is not often usual for animes like this! (I won't say too much) It also shows not to judge a book by it's cover, people can me more powerful and braver than first assumed. I would definitely recommend this anime, especially if you enjoyed Fruits Basket, this is similar in a few ways, but there is a bit more action rather than comedy, but there are still some funny and enjoyable parts, I also thought it would've been better with a little bit more romance between the two main characters other than just a small part, like the usual cliché where pretty much all the romance is in the last episode. All in all, it's a great anime! 9/10 Enjoy!

This would be my first review ever done so don't expect it to be perfect T_T ~No Spoilers!!~ I don't know what's will all the reviews giving it a 6 out of 10 .__. First of all, I honestly always judge a book by its cover, so when i saw the overall reviews, I didn't want to watch it. Also the cover wasn't very appealing but I decided to watch it because I had nothing better to do. So I gave it a chance. I LOVED IT! n__n Honestly if you love comedy with a bit of comedy and romance this anime is for you. It was a perfect balance for me and who knows, perhaps its same for you. Don't make my same mistake and give it a chance. What could you lose? like 25 min? :p

Although many people disliked it. I personally love it so much, and here is way. Story: (7) A homeless girl met a guy who told her that she can live in his house. She finds out later that his house is a shrine and she's the new God of that shrine. She meets the two shrine spirits and then seals a contract with the familiar. So what else a normal girl should do after becoming a God? watch and you'll see. The romance is the first reason why I fell in love with this series, and it's also what made me want to wait for the second season, and watch the two OVAs too! Art: (9) I think the drawing was really great and well done! The colors were really comforting for the eyes. neither too dark nor too bright. the movement of the characters and the backgrounds were also beautiful. Sound: (9) The soundtrack and actors voices were just amazing! Especially the closing song. a a a a~ a a a a~ it's so catchy! I even caught myself listening to it many times. it's so beautiful and enjoyable. Characters: (10) Maybe here I'm being so different than everyone. I know many people disliked the characters. But to me, the characters were well written and developed. From the perspective of a person who's into astrology, I'd say, they were so realistically made. Especially for the familiar "Tomoe", keeping how did his character change from how he was in the past is why everyone is so excited to watch the next season. His character was very mysterious and cool and funny! The main character "Nanami" I loved how you can listen to all her thoughts and understand the way she felt and developed feelings and ideas. Enjoyment: (10) I enjoyed this anime so much. I enjoyed the story and the characters, both were very well done and it made me want more and more of this anime. Overall: (10) I really loved the whole thing so much. I have so many feelings and I felt involved in the story to the point where I fell in love with whatever "Nanami" fell in love with. Very exciting and funny. A great why to spend time. I think an anime is good if it made me get attached to the characters, and this is exactly what's going on.

Kamisama Hajimemashita or A homeless girl becomes a land deity. By sudden circumstances the heroine inherits a rundown shrine and encounters spirits and a grumpy familiar. Then begins her new exciting life as a goddess. The animation is pretty good, fluid movements and lively backgrounds. The characters are very likeable and well-written. My favorite is Mizuki, his playing of the flute, by example, in the last two episodes is simply hilarious. The story develops itself well. What I don't like, is that there are too little episodes in my opinion. The character development is mostly successful, but Tomoe's change and the conclusion of the story seem a bit rushed. I think, that is because of the shortness of the anime. Overall a very good show and definitively worth watching. One of my all time favorites. As for the soundtrack, the opening and ending are very good ( one of the few I don't skip after the first episodes ) and the BGM are also good. The VA did a good job.

Like the previous review written before this one, i was also pleasantly surprised by how much i liked the music throughout the anime. The story was good. Half the time I drop anime out of boredom, but this on pulled me in from the beginning. And I fell in love with the characters in this anime, especially Tomoe (fox demon). The art in this anime is very simple but very good. I really liked the character animation. Overall, i will just say that i thoroughly enjoyed this anime and will add it to my recommendation list.

Kamisama Kiss is one of those anime that becomes impossible not to get attached to. The story itself is ACTUALLY pretty simple, but the way the series handles it's characters, comedy, romance and atmosphere makes everything feel so memorable. Every episode has this cozy magical vibe that makes it really easy to keep watching 'just one more episode ' until suddenly the season is over... I wonder why. The biggest reason the series works so well is definitely Nanami and Tomoe's chemistry. Their relationship doesn't feel rushed or forced since it develops naturally through all the teasing, arguments, interactions. NANAMI ALSO DESERVES MORE CREDIT because she NEVER feels like a week or annoying protagonist. Even while dealing with literal supernatural chaos, she still stays determined and honestly REALLY LOVABLE. The animation itself is not anything groundbreaking, and some side characters could have used more screentime... But the overall charm of the anime easily makes up for it.

Three years ago, I gave this time a 10. After re-watching 3 years later, I still think it deserves a 10. It IS quite childish, especially since Nanami is in her first year of high school, but the romantic moments between Nanami and Tomoe are mature and pure and they make my heart flutter! Although Nanami's character is quite simple, Tomoe has a complex history and his character is really great. I do wish we could've seen more romantic moments between the two, but the scarcity is what makes it so special. Their relationship really developed nicely and the story flowed nicely. I REALLY loved the anime, it's literally one of my all-time favourites!! I've re-watched it 3 times at different ages and it hits every time

This is my kind of romantic comedy. The supernatural element is a perfect ingredient to push the storytelling wheel in motion. How does a mortal take on a godly responsibility? That was one hook that kept me wanting to see the show. The dynamic dialogue/relationship between Nanami & Tomoe keeps the story lighthearted and it makes me want to see til the end expecting a happily ever after between them - that's a formula you need for any romantic comedy kind of story. The sound is incredible. Every effect increases the comedic storytelling impact plus the punch lines were on point - you will always get tickled by the show with no fail. I have seen some romantic comedies go sideways and may go tragic but this one's the cake. This is a feel good show all through out. Nanami and friends overcome obstacle after obstacle in practical and efficient ways. You can put yourself in her shoes. You could wish god like powers are real and Nanami would be you go to girl for advice and apprenticeship.

This anime was pretty relaxing to me, for some reason. It gives me the feeling of peace. I think it's entirely the art affecting all the rest. Between cute animes, this one actually gives me good vibes that don't upset me in any point. It's just really soft. The love emotions in general, the ways the protagonist express herself. I like it. The relationship between her and the male protagonist gives me cute soft love vibes. They're really fun but they like each other. It's a perfect mix. It's a small anime, and i's light, so I feel like I could watch it again and again easily without feeling too bored. And without giving up (most of the times, at least, cause sometimes it happens even to my favorite animes, sadly, and God knows why). Seven is a good rate, right? I think it is (laughs nervously). It's a soft anime, and maybe i'm just a "hype anime" person. So even if it was good for me, I couldn't give much more than this. But it's good, for sure.

Well... I enjoy the comedy a lot. I've seen this one, and the sequel, and there's really only a few things I want to mention. One, the animation. There isn't much animation, a lot of pictures and still frames, but the art looks awesome and I don't care as much about it. ;) The second is... I don't really like the whole romance thing. I couldn't care less about romance. But I'll still watch the anime because I enjoy the comedy more than I hate the romance. (I swear, if Tomoe and Nanami end up together.... WAIT, spoilers, I THINK THEY DO) I'm just going to pretend it never happens, and then, everything will be great! The characters are fun and amusing, so it's enough for me. Mikage is voiced by the same voice actor who voices Zeref (from Fairy Tail), so that's a reason I started watching the series... haha... There isn't really much story or plot, more like a slice of life style one episode one story thing. I really like the music, as both the opening and ending are fun to listen to. The main OST, or at least what I think is the main OST, sounds beautiful. [it's not bad]

My review will cover both the first season and second season and as always you can skip to the end for a quick summary. Story: 10 The premise itself isn't terribly extraordinary or unique, similar premises have been done but it takes interesting turns and how far it develops each aspect is what really sets this anime apart from others like it. The romance goes really far here and is super satisfying. The goddess premise isn't forgotten at all which was what I really feared, but instead it's heavily developed which already puts this in a level above A LOT of anime with these kinds of stories where the MC is caught in something else besides a budding romance lol. For the most part the story consists of more or less unrelated conflicts that develop Nanami's character, the world she finds herself in, and most importantly her romance with Tomoe. Despite being unrelated arcs each one build on top of each other which is really awesome to see. Art: 8 Art is pretty good in my opinion it has a kind of has a traditional japanese aesthetic to it. The animation could be better but this is a romance anime primarily so animation isn't as important as lets say an action anime and the few action scenes in the anime are garbage, but then again, it's not an action anime so I don't expect much in the animation and you shouldn't either. Sound: 9 I loved the soundtrack here, similar to the aesthetic, it's kind of tradition japanese sounding (hope I'm not being offensive lol) which really help boost that japanese kami theme. The OPs and EDs are fucking amazing, visuals too not just song, and isn't that usual jpop stuff that we hear for most anime which is incredibly refreshing. Character: 10 Where this anime really shines. Tomoe is an incredible love interest and the supporting characters are all pretty likable, special shout out to Mikage who feels like a genuine father to Nanami. Nanami herself starts out as a typical useless shoujo protag but as the series goes on she really shines, going from not knowing a thing about being a goddess to seriously feeling like one with purpose and serious power. More fundamentally, she just becomes a really strong shoujo protagonist. Enjoyment: 10 What can I say? I seriously can't find any real faults with this anime, everything is super developed from not only just the romance but also the other half of the show, the goddess story. Even if you don't like these kinds of shows you should still watch it you won't regret it lol. Overall: 10 WATCH IF YOU WANT -A developed romance -A weak female growing into a strong lead -Excellent characters -Awesome OP and ED's and a good OST in general

Kamisama Hajimemashita, or Kamisama Kiss is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Julietta Suzuki and serialized by Hakusensha in the shoujo manga magazine called ‘Hana to Yume.’ An anime television series adaptation of Kamisama Kiss was produced by ‘TMS Entertainment’ and directed by Akitaro Daichi (Fruits Basket, Kaleido Star). It began airing on October 1, 2012. There are also two OVA episodes, which first aired on August 26, 2013, bundled with the 16th volume of the manga. One of the included episodes is based on the story from the 15th volume, while the other contains an all-new original story. The 17th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine announced on August 2014 that the manga series inspired a second anime season, which began airing on January 5, 2015. Momozono Nanami is only 17 years old, but she has never felt lucky. She has quite an average academic progress and boys do not think that she is cute. She would love to fix her school problems and spare more time for the girls’ stuff, but she cannot do that, since her father is a big gambler, who always causes her daughter a ton of problems. Too bad, but her misfortune only continues: she is evicted from her apartment, because of her father’s debts. However, Nanami does not curse her misfortune. One day, she saves a good-looking young man in a park from a huge phobia he has; he is afraid of dogs. After a small talk, the young man listens to Nanami’s problems and offers her to live at his place, which he abandoned 20 years ago. In addition to this, he also kisses her on the forehead to express his gratitude. It turns out that Nanami is invited to live in a God’s shrine and that the young man that kissed her actually passed her the mark of the area’s deity. The unfortunate girl is no longer unfortunate, but her life has not gotten any easier, too. She now should take care of her academic progress, as well as of her deity’s duties. While Kamisama Kiss’ story-line does look generic, it still manages to show its uniqueness. The story-line does a great job explaining characters’ motives and their backstories, but the most important thing about it is, of course, the fact that it manages to keep the viewer interested. Kamikiss is a romantic comedy, however, sometimes it gets very dark and it also focuses on some philosophical topics. And after some time you will surely appreciate the fact that the creator of Kamikiss understands that watching a pure romantic comedy for two seasons is just boring and that she can also make you forget about the romance and to make you simply worry about the characters of Kamikiss. However, after 19 minutes of fear you hear the anime’s ending song and understand that it is all over. The visuals are not great, but there is nothing to complain about. Backgrounds are often gorgeous and the anime also pays attention to many important details. Sound wise, it is quite difficult to say if this anime should be watched in English, or in Japanese; they both are good, so feel free to watch it in whatever language you wish. The anime has also a very calming OST; whenever you hear the anime’s ending, it just warms your heart. Character wise, there are two main characters and also a big supporting characters cast. The first main character, she is voiced by Mimori Suzuko and Ballard Tia, is Nanami Momozono. She is a teenage girl, who is having quite a difficult life. Thankfully, a young man listens to Nanami’s problems and offers her to live at his place, which he abandoned 20 years ago. In addition to this, he also kisses her on the forehead to express his gratitude. After some time, it turns out that Nanami is invited to live in a God’s shrine and that the young man that kissed her passed her the mark of the area’s deity, which changed her life a lot. The second main character is Tomoe, who is voiced by Tachibana Shinnosuke and Tatum John Michael. Tomoe is a fox yokai, who serves as the familiar of the land God Mikage. However, one day, Mikage leaves his shrine, leaving Tomoe alone. After 20 years, Mikage makes Nanami the new mistress of the shrine, and so it makes Tomoe her familiar now. At first, the fox youkai does not appreciate the fact that he now has a new master, who is just a schoolgirl and, of course, a human. However, because of something, he changes his opinion about Nanami and starts to care about her. That being said, both main characters receive good character development. Though, you will only find out more about Tomoe in the second season; it is not that important. I guess you will surely appreciate the fact that both main characters change as the anime progresses. You will also like the fact that there is a huge supporting characters cast, which will not make you feel bored. If you want to know my personal opinion on this anime, I would say that it is one of the best romance anime I have ever seen in my life. I am not a fan of that genre, and ‘ shoujo’ is definitely not my favorite genre. However, Kamikiss, somehow, won my interest. It manages to keep you interested, because it has a very misleading first episode, which will surely form a very wrong opinion on this anime. However, the more you watch it, the more you understand that this anime is not that simple. It tries to make you feel secure, but then it says ‘hey, you cannot feel relaxed yet, we have plenty of ways to make you worry about the characters.’ Overall, I cannot say that Kamisama Kiss is an absolute masterpiece. However, as a romance it did manage to keep me interested. I would not recommend this anime for someone, who does not like romance; just avoid this anime if you are not a fan of the genre. However, if you are a big sucker for a good romance anime, then you should definitively give this show a try; it will not disappoint you.

Began: 10/2/17 Completed: 10/28/17 Hey, everyone! It’s the last day of 2017 and I wanted to go ahead and finally do my “Kamisama Kiss” review. Thanks for being patient and also for following my reviews this year..there will be more to come in 2018. Let’s get to it! Story: I enjoyed the storytelling! Each episode had a different focus while still sticking to the main plot. This was a very fun show to watch. Art: The artwork was beautiful, very clean and easy on the eyes. I loved the choice of colors and the use of cherry blossoms...what a vision. Sound: I love Dubs from Funimation because the cast does an AH-MAZING job with the characters. I give it a 10/10. The music was enchanting and each opening and ending theme was catchy and they’re in my playlist (previously mentioned in my reviews and will be listed in my profile). Character: The relationships were nice, but the ambiguity of the relationship status of the two man characters bothers me and that’s why I plan to read the manga. Enjoyment: I am definitely going to rewatch this show in a few months, this is just SUCH a cute anime. Overall: I highly recommend this as a cute short show for those who love comedy, romance and English dubs done by Funimation. Thank you so much for your patience, your support and your overall awesomeness. Please continue to rock with me in the upcoming year. Happy New Year and I’ll see you next time.

Kamisama Hajimemashita, Is an anime that is based on era back then and now, and also shows some fantasy. Kamisama hajimemashita is an anime many people including myself, enjoy, this anime focuses on action, romance, and comedy. The only problem in this is that there are many fillers. The sound track on this anime is really great and has some fun song choices that they use for the ending and opening, as for the characters they themselves are perfect roles to represent the animes meaning (if that doesn't make sense then... idk). The art on this anime is very beautiful and detailed.. I don't really have much problems with the anime or the story itself. i would definitely recommend this anime! Have fun watching! Janee!! Overall Rating: 9.2/10
