Well... those classic beach and fanservice OVAs of the time. After watching the main Code:Breaker series, I expected the OVAs to perhaps expand on some story elements, delve deeper into the characters, or bring some interesting supplementary content to the universe of the work. Unfortunately, that's not exactly what I found. The three OVAs follow a very different path from that presented in the main anime. Instead of the dark atmosphere, the discussions about justice, and the conflicts involving the Code Breakers, we get episodes focused almost exclusively on comedy, absurd situations, and, of course, fanservice. One of them even follows that extremely common formula of anime from that era: the famous beach episode. Not that there's anything wrong with lighter episodes. Many works use OVAs precisely to explore the more relaxed sides of the characters. The problem is that, in the case of Code:Breaker, the change in tone is so great that it feels like we're watching a completely different series. One of the things I liked most about the main anime was precisely its more serious atmosphere and its protagonist with that cold and intimidating demeanor. Ogami was practically the definition of an "edgy" character, and the work embraced this style fearlessly. In the OVAs, however, much of this identity ends up being sidelined to make room for jokes, misunderstandings, and situations geared solely towards casual entertainment. The result is a set of episodes that add practically nothing to the main narrative. They are stories that could be removed from the franchise without causing any impact. They don't develop the characters significantly, don't expand the universe of the work, and don't present events relevant to the plot. On the other hand, they're not bad either. The episodes are short, have a light pace, and manage to elicit some occasional laughs. The problem is that nothing there remains in the memory after the end credits. It's the kind of content you watch today and will probably completely forget a few weeks later. Visually, the OVAs maintain an acceptable standard. The animation remains competent, the characters are still well-designed, and the technical quality doesn't suffer a drastic drop compared to the main series. Still, there aren't any particularly impressive or memorable moments from a visual standpoint. Ultimately, my feeling was one of complete indifference. I didn't hate the OVAs, but I also didn't find any reason to strongly recommend them. They fulfill the basic role of delivering a few more minutes with the characters for those who enjoyed the series, but that's about it. If you're a huge fan of Code:Breaker and want to consume absolutely everything related to the work, it's probably worth a look. However, for most people, these episodes are completely dispensable. They add nothing relevant and end up weakening the more serious identity that the anime had built. In short: it's neither here nor there. It just exists. Apenas existe. Nota: 5/10
