Big Windup!

This is a solid anime. Take it for what it is, a slice of life sports anime about first year high school students, and you will like it. I would categorize the feeling of it as "cute" in a young teen boys and their enthusiasm for a sport. The story is simple, it follows the main protagonist, a first year baseball club member, and his team. I like it because they act like first year students. The athleticism, isn't over-the-top completely, unbelievable (though of course it is not realistic, but what sports anime has realistic athleticism?). You will find out a little back story for the main characters, but not too deep. It mainly focuses on them playing baseball. It's a simple, but enjoyable story.

So fun!!! I'm surprised this isn't more popular as it is. Following the protagonist, and the pitcher, Mihashi Ren, Big Windup starts as he enters high school and onto a new baseball team after having a horrible experience in his previous one. He is fidgety and looks down on himself but oh so talented. The team and their bonding is so fun to watch since they all differ individually but pair well with one another as a whole. I absolutely love the style so much!!! Wish all shows still looked like that. Also, I hate to say it but I must,,,,, this feels so much like a romance, it's painful!!! Any and all friendships in this are so sweet and nice so even if you don't see it that way, it's equally as enjoyable. I'm going to start the next season as soon as I finish writing this.

I am not a huge fan of sports anime, but i do watch the good ones. I was first skeptical of getting into this anime and even in the first 3 episodes I was still doubting this anime because I don't play baseball in fact I am a basketball player. But then I reached the part where (Spoiler ahead) Mihashi meets Abe and they become friends. I have really never seen a friendship like this before. Let me give you a brief background: Mihashi is a socially anxious shy kid who thinks he is a failure in baseball, Abe motivates him and becomes best friends with him over time. But Mihashi and Abe's friendship is not the only great thing. OMG MIHASHI'S SHY FACE! I am a guy, no homo but MIHASHI'S SHY FACE IS SO CUTE!!!!!!! Give this anime a try, even if you are not into sports anime this anime offers way more. 10/10 Masterpiece

I was surprised by Oofuri. I'm not a sports person at all and before I started watching the anime, I knew strike, run, fowl, and that was about it when it came to baseball. However, I enjoyed the series and found myself engulfed in the excitement of the story. The story follows classic shounen tropes. An underdog team shocks the high school baseball world with it's ragtag gang of lovable misfits whose oddities are their strengths. The main character, the pitcher for the team, wanted to be a pitcher all his life, but he is convinced that he is no good. Similarly to "Suzaku", he had a traumatic experience that convinced him of his athletic inadequacy, even though he had a great deal of talent. He attended a middle school that was run by his grandfather, so when he got on the team, the other players assumed it was nepotism and refused to animes play with him. The catcher, in particular, wouldn't signal to him, which resulted in the main character trowing nothing but fastballs for his entire high school career. When he entered high school, he found out that he was actually an extremely talented pitcher, and this began the long journey to self esteem. The set up is similar to like Bleach, only instead of battles that last 7 episodes, it's baseball games that last 7 episodes. Unlike Bleach, however, the 7 episode arcs are actually gripping and engaging. You actually cheer and get excited for the characters and I again say that I'm not a fan of sport.

In my opinion this anime is great. I am not a big sports fan and thought this wouldn't be as enjoyable, but it was. The games and the plays that were made me more interested. Also it wasn't just about sports, but teamwork, friendship, and it was funny. For anyone who hasn't seen it and thinks they won't be interested, they should it a try because they never know if they will enjoy it.

When I first saw this, I knew nothing about Baseball. Like, nothing. And when Mihashi looked for the sign in the first episode, I thought he was staring at the catcher's crotch. Wow, I was stupid, wasn't I? xP And after the first two episodes, I was hooked. I loved the story and the characters and everything...~~ All in all, it's an amazing series ofr anyone interested in sports, or anything that gives off the "Slice of Life" vibe.

Playing Sports? The worst. Watching Sports? Boring.... This anime? Surprisingly satisfying. The story wasn't too unique-there's a lot of sports anime out there but, even so it had it's own original twist too it and as a whole I throughly enjoyed it. Art could use some improvement, it was very simple but it wasn't bad to look at either. I liked the sound pretty well, especially with the band. It gave a really good feeling. All the characters had all there own originality to them too even though Mihashi tended to piss me off an incredible amount. Than again, that is what made him so unique. ;D I hate sports an every aspect but, this anime made me actually really enjoy it. I didn't know next to nothing about baseball before this and it actually made me excited even when I had no clue what was going on! Even if you don't like baseball and have no clue about the game is not an excuse not to watch this-it really isn't. I would honestly recommend this to others despite what they like in an anime-it was just that appealing to me. :}

I don't know how I came across this anime but after watching the first episode, I was hooked. Big Windup has such kick-ass characters (Mihashi, Abe, Tajima, Momoe and etc.) that you'll love them after 1 or a few episodes. Each character has a different personally that helps drive the story and keep it interesting. You don't have to be a sports fan to get into this anime, but Big Windup is a sports anime. So it might not satisfy everyone, since one game can last more than 10 episodes. But if you love baseball or sports in general, you'll get so into this anime. Because I did, and i was cheering for team Nishiura. For the art, this anime is pretty top notch. Art direction and style is very loveable, and the sound is awesome too. Great sound effects that make you feel like you are at a real baseball game. This anime has plenty of funny moments too and you'll love them. Overall I love this anime, it made me realize how important team work is. And the only bad thing that I can think of about this anime is that it ended. Even though the manga is still going on. In the end I give this anime a 10 out of 10. So watch Big Windup!

Story: Gotta love the sports based stories. I've watched many in my years and this one came and popped out of nowhere! It whipped up a different set of characters that gave new life to the baseball boy story. If you love Major and Cross Game you'll appreciate this one. Art: Felt no details were missed and that they didn't skimp on the effort. Character: Biggest notable point. Instead of a charismatic main char. we get a shy, non-confident, skinny boy that has no real strong pitch, just a love-able personality and a lot of control with the ball due to lots of hard practice. This gives the entire story a more realistic feel compared to story's like Major and Cross game. Character development was given where needed without filler help. Assisting characters were love-able as well. Enjoyment: NO REAL FILLER POINTS in the story!! Was able to stay focused and interested and was able to watch within two days. Overall: Season 2 will be on my must watch list.

I'm not a big fan of baseball, the anime is also very entertaining. The anime is a spokon, from baseball. So far everything normal but what is not normal is the protagonist, from the first moment they show you that he has several traumas caused by his former teammates. The animation is very good, the only thing I don't like is that in the design of the characters' faces there are some red stripes that they always have, as if they were blushing. Taking that out, the animation and the character design seem very good to me. The development of characters is excellent, they take advantage of the protagonist very well to improve him and that is a point very much in his favor. The soundtrack is very well done in the games. One thing that bothers me a lot is that we only see 2 games in 25 chapters, so the anime doesn't go much further, unfortunately. It also has a second season but only 13 chapters so I don't know how much more the series has left. In short, a very entertaining baseball anime, I recommend it if you like spokons.

General: 8,35 The truth is I am very satisfied to have found this title and give it its corresponding opportunity since it has no waste, at least from my perspective as a lover of the spokon (sports genre). It is a very rewarding series because you quickly get into the main characters, as well as their team growth and the way the coach and sensei prepare them, it is very fresh, because it seeks to go beyond the usual physical training and the character of the talent, but they touch more emotional and psychological themes of the athletes that always seemed to me a key factor in the field but that few anime touched in such a subtle and pleasant way. Now it must be said that the greatest sin of the work also ends up being its duration, since it is difficult for me to think that there are only 12 more chapters remaining with the potential that is observed, but anyway we enjoy the journey that we have left for the moment and more We will analyze it in depth later.

I can only say that I loved it. I've seen sports anime before, but none like this one. What makes it so special is its protagonist. He's not the typical protagonist who thinks he can defeat everyone and conquer the world; quite the opposite, he believes everyone hates him and is always against him. But watching him grow is fantastic, largely thanks to his teammates, especially the catcher, who can't stand Mihashi's behavior at first, but eventually comes to understand and help him. Another thing I loved was the cheerleading squad, which really draws you into the games and makes you feel like you're right there in the stands supporting the team. Without a doubt, this anime is a hidden gem. I'd love to tell everyone it exists. If you have the chance to watch it, do it!
