((SPOILER FREE)) This is my first review ever, I hope you like it! I give this anime a 9 out of 10. I think Donten ni Warau story is very well constructed and the characters have amazing personalities but the animation itself is poor which is sad... Also, I think the story is complex enough to have more episodes, with only 12 everything happens too fast. I wish there was more mistery and I would like to have more time to meet the characters. I should probably have read the manga instead, but well, I prefer to watch anime. Still, I strongly recommend it :)

This anime is really underrated. I just don't think many people know of it. If you happen to be lucky enough to stumble upon it, you'll be happy you did. The story is exciting, full of intrigues, and has a great historical japan setting full of imagination. The characters are well thought out and you definitely find yourself invested in all of them, including the ones you wouldn't expect to. As for the animation, it was done very well. I'm not a huge snob when it comes down to all that, honestly, i find most anime extremely impressive. But, that being said, this really was done well and you'll be able to enjoy this great story line to the full extent due to it. Give this awesome anime secret a shot and you'll see just how underrated it is. You won't regret it.

I didn't expect so much about this anime at first actually. But as the story progressing, I started to like this show. At first, I read the synopsis that this anime tells about feodal era or something like that. But I was glad this is not your typical feodal era theme. The story is amusing. The art is good. Yeah, since this is a modern anime that came from 2014. The music is decent, I think. The character is interesting. Even there are so many plot twists involving any character. Fighting, drama and tragedy mixed into one. There was intense fight yet also emotional backstory. The Opening and Ending are good and suit with this anime, I think.

Karakara-Kemui's manga first published by Mag Garden on March 2011 with a rather unique story. Mixed by those aspects I mentioned above, it turns out to be a heart warming and bittersweet plot and hits the entire of it. It's started 600 hundred years ago, Orochi~the name of huge snake~, rose and bring the destruction to the whole area where the heros live now. Its resurrection haunts the villagers and the government itself, the Orochi places himself to a human which later becomes one w/ Orochi when the resurrection time comes. 300 hundred years ago, Orochi's resurrection is a failure, and he was defeated by two guys and a woman. Now, the present is haunted by its resurrection, and those who capable to defeat this devilish creature are youngsters and emotionally upset by the current situation~conflicts, losses, and distances. Will they overcome their nightmare and sleep peacefully, laughing under the clouds? I'm quite energetic as I make this post, the most entertaining anime on Fall 2014. Curious about the reason I could say so? Well, it's simply because the story takes place in a unique era, but never-ending laughs and bitter moments will catch your attention. Powerful meaning brings the series much more enjoyable and heart-throbbing at the same time. Not too catchy plot, but try to watch it and you'll know the different of it, even if there are also series takes place in somewhat Meiji Restoration. It's like you can find every taste in a dish, sour, spicy, bitter, sweet, and pungent. In short, the story will give you tons of laughs while can make you feel sad or bitter, yet it can boil your blood like a madman and finally sweeten the problematic plot. For the music, I can say it really fits the story, especially the rhythm. I found the singers voice astonish me. Well, let's spare some of your time to listen it by yourself. firstly the first opening theme Biran no Kaze by Ryuuji Aoki, secondly Ruten no Hi by Ryuuji Aoki, and ending theme Attitude to Life by Galneryus. I can't say much about the graphic. It is around average, but not bad actually I really enjoy the battle scenes, even the beautiful scenery of the villages here. It looks really like based on long-time-ago era. The color is not too bright, quite deep! and when it comes to characters, they are so many personalities there, range from the quiet yet mysterious, cheerful, sarcasm but so lovely, pessimistic also prayer, both temperamental and sweet, sweet and calm, and so many...uh~can't explain all of em. It gave me pleasure to observe how the characters express themselves. Since, I never gave "10" as a rate~because it's simply impossible to assume series can get the perfect score~ so I will apply 9+. (You can consider it 10 by the way, wwwwww~乁[ᓀ˵▾˵ᓂ]ㄏ) Pros: Picturesque plot a lot of meaningful message Unique graphic

Another anime with potential that got butchered by bad pacing, forced/unrealistic interactions, emotions, resolutions, and poor character and story development. The writing felt both good and bad at the same time—the overall concept and story arcs are solid, but the way they're executed, at least in the anime, is just very underwhelming. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s better in the manga. The animation is okay nothing worth pointing out. Overall, it’s just alright. Could be worse, but I bet this could’ve been far better with around 24 episodes or so... but oh well, it is what it is. Still dont know how this got arount 7.50 score Here tho xd.

Donten ni Warau is like a snack. Does not taste bad, gives you some kind of enjoyment but does not satisfy your hunger. It is not a bad anime and it is not a waste of time but at best, I guess it is only a little above the average. The story is pretty mediocre and since it only lasts for 12 episodes, there is not much time to build a world around this story so most of the stuff is left at the dark but I get it. Story is the most mediocre part of this anime, goes like "there are bad guys and there are good guys, fight and save the world!" so don't expect much. Art is also mediocre but once again, I get it. Did not expect much from a low-budget anime. It's not beautiful but not bad either. For the sound, voice actors are decent I guess and there were few tunes I liked throughout the show (some succesful tunes to reflect the era) other than that nothing caught my attention. And for the characters, I can say they are pretty stereotyped. They are not interesting or anything but the oldest brother is more enjoyable to watch than the others. If you have a day-off and you don't know what to do, Donten ni Warau is a good snack. It tells you its story without boring you too much and comes to an end. It is an enjoyable anime if you don't expect too much from it. 6/10

SPOILER FREE - This is one of the most underrated anime ever. I was browsing the samurai section the other day but didn't find anything of interest until I found this rare gem hiding at the bottom of the list. If you're a samurai anime type of guy this one will be worth watching for sure. The story is interesting, the art is beautiful, the sound effects are great, character design is great as well overall I would give it an 8/10. Hopefully, I stumble upon a rare gem like this one day. This anime shows you that the amount of members doesn't tell you precisely how good the anime is but rather watching the anime for yourself is much better than relying on the amount of members.

Donten Ni Warau is a good anime and i would recommend it to friends and others who enjoy anime. The story is pretty okay but it had me all over the place, crying tears only to find out that the tears were useless, loving a character dearly only to find out i shouldn't, hating a character profusely only to find out that i shouldn't, and losing a bit of my sanity around the end. The anime isn't bad at all, infact i enjoyed it. It had alot of things most anime doesn't have which was brotherly love, plot twists that were not really expected, plot twists that could be guessed, and a conflict that lasted through-out the series and resolved with the help of loved ones and family.
