This is a great little add on to the Ao Haru show, it literally "wraps" the main story with episode 1 being a prequel of sorts and episode 2 being an add on after the occurrences in the main title. It definitely feels just like the parent show- simple and sweet. I recommend watching this after the main show, even though chronologically the first episode of the OVA comes first, because it messes up some of the foreshadowing and character exposition in the main show. Animation: Not too much to add in this section, feels just like the main show. I'd forgotten that Futaba's hair has so much volume! Expressions and emotions are great in this show overall, middle school Futaba's innocence is really well represented. Sound: There aren't any OP/EDs in this OVA, there are end credits but it's just played over BGM. The background music is identical to the parent show, some of the tunes are instantly recognizable; it was utilized to outstanding effect to end the prequel episode. The VAs are identical to the main show, expect a strong performance throughout. Maaya Uchida sure can go through her hiragana tables quickly... Story: Unlike a lot of run of the mill OVAs, this is not a filler between seasons; it actually adds substance to the show as a whole. The first episode recounts how Futaba slowly and innocently falls in love with Kou. The second episode adds on to the ending of the parent show. Remember how Yuuri said she was going to get serious in the summer? Well, this episode takes place in summer. In addition, there are some really nice atmosphere scenes in this episode, some of which are ironically funny for the viewer. If you're looking for more of the pure, innocent hatsukoi story that is Ao Haru Ride, you've found it. Character: We know a lot about our characters by this point, yet this still manages to add on quite a bit more. Even though I knew exactly what was coming in the first episode, the last scene with Futaba still caught me off guard, a brilliant way to round out the episode. The second episode was equally impressive as the dynamic character relations continue to evolve. Expect some rather bold advances and surprisingly a lot of screen time for Touma (the guy that Futaba "molested"). Value: This is an absolute must watch for those who enjoyed the main show. It adds valuable content and further cements this show as one of the outstanding examples in the genre.

Part 1 English Part 2 Bahasa Indonesia -------------------------------------- Well, well, well, what do we have here? It's the Ao Haru Ride OVA, or as I like to call it, 'The Ride That Goes Nowhere.' This anime is like a romantic comedy on a merry-go-round. It's cute, it's sweet, and it's going in circles. The characters are charming, but the plot just keeps spinning its wheels. Don't get me wrong, there are some heartwarming moments and plenty of laughs along the way. But if you're looking for a satisfying conclusion to the story, you'll be left disappointed. It's like a car with a fancy paint job and a weak engine. Sure, it looks nice, but it's not going to get you very far. Overall, I'd give a score of 7.375/10. It's a fun and lighthearted anime that's perfect for a lazy afternoon, but don't expect it to take you on a wild ride -------------------------------------- Baiklah, kita memiliki Ao Haru Ride OVA di sini, atau yang saya sebut sebagai 'The Ride That Goes Nowhere' ('Perjalanan yang Tak Berujung').

Ao Haru Ride OVA should be definitely watched right after season 1, but the most important part of it is ep. 2. From my experience, the first season ended with a cliffhanger and of course as a viewer I had a lot of questions, which got answered here. Nevertheless, they give u another cliffhanger right in the end (that's why you should watch the last episode till the very end and pay attention to what they say). Atm (2021) there is no season 2 and I don't think there will ever be, so the best option would be to pick up the manga and start from the chapter that they finished on.

Cute, very cute. This special is a really interesting addition to the Ao Haru Ride story, especially thanks to the first episode, which delves deeper into the protagonists' pasts and shows events that help explain much of what we see in the main series. It’s one of those cases where the extra content actually adds something to the experience, rather than just feeling like material created to cash in on the series' success. I particularly enjoyed the first episode. Seeing a bit more of the characters' pasts and better understanding the situations that shaped who they are makes the experience even more engaging. It’s cool to see how certain feelings and behaviors we were already familiar with gain more context when we get a glimpse of these moments. Even though it’s an OVA, there’s a sense of progression and character development that fits perfectly with the tone of the main work. The second episode, on the other hand, feels more like a bonus feature, delivering that classic romance anime scenario involving fireworks and a summery atmosphere. Yes, it’s quite cliché, something we’ve seen countless times in other shows, but honestly? It didn’t bother me one bit. The execution is lighthearted, fun, and, above all, very cute. Sometimes you don’t need something groundbreakingly original; a good cliché scene, when done well and featuring characters you like, can still deliver a delightful experience. I actually rewatched these episodes with a special fondness, precisely because of the memories they stirred up. Revisiting events from the main series reminded me of how I discovered Ao Haru Ride in the first place. I started watching the anime after stumbling upon clips from the first episode in one of those cute anime crack videos, and rewatching those scenes now brought back a strong sense of nostalgia. It’s fascinating how a show can hold onto those kinds of personal memories and, years later, draw you back simply because of a few scenes. Beyond that personal aspect, I think the OVAs work well because they keep pace with the story's narrative evolution. Ao Haru Ride features an emotional progression that is truly delightful to follow, and that sense of continuity is present here as well. The characters continue to mature, and their relationships gain new layers, even within a short story like this. I also have to highlight the animation. Visually, it remains beautiful and retains the series' signature style. The lighter colors, soft tones, and heartwarming atmosphere pair perfectly with the romance, helping to convey the cozy feeling that defines Ao Haru Ride. It is a very pleasant watch, simply because of the mood it creates. Ultimately, these are simple episodes, but they serve their purpose admirably. They aren't essential for understanding the main story, but they make for a lovely addition for anyone who already loves the characters and wants to spend a little more time with them. I really enjoyed revisiting them, and, above all, I appreciated the nostalgia the experience evoked. Give them a watch; it’s worth it. Rating: 7/10. Assistam, pois vale a pena. Nota: 7/10.
