Dragon Ball Super
ドラゴンボール超(スーパー)
hxhbestshow93
Story: 2/10. The story of DBSuper is uninteresting and aimless. There is no cohesive goal or narrative other than 'get stronger', so every arc just feels disjointed and doesn't seem to serve any greater purpose. This would be fine if each arc was individually strong with its own strong sense of story, themes and characters, but alas there is nothing compelling about DBSuper in any of these areas. The characters are bland, there are no themes to be had in the plot and the story of every arc never extends past "fight this strong villain and try to win". Even though DB and DBZ employed this same formula to its arcs, there were still stakes aside from saving the world/universe/whatever that really helped make the story; whether it was personal character goals and aspirations or the coming of age of certain characters, these two shows really nailed not just focusing on bigger and badder stakes to tell a story (for the most part). Unfortunately, DBSuper thinks bigger stakes = better story and fails as a result. As an aside, there is little to no tension in the story regardless of how big the stakes are. I felt more tension in DBZ watching two non-Super Saiyans fight each other than I did watching literal god-level beings clash in Super. Art: 6/10. Everyone knows DBSuper had its fair share of problems when it was coming out in terms of art and animation. But the series does get way better as it progresses. I'd say starting out the art/animation was maybe a 2 or 3/10 but by the end of the series it's probably a 7/10. Sound: 9/10. Pretty great soundtrack. Character: 1/10. The worst written characters I've seen in literally anything, not just anime. The depth every character had in DB and DBZ has been extracted out and all we're left with are shells of characters, caricatures of what they once were. Everyone you knew and loved in DBZ is either ignored or reduced to one or two personality traits. DBZ was guilty of doing this to a degree, but DBSuper takes it to a whole other level. In terms of development, it seems Super equates changing one's hair color with substantial character development. There is not an ounce of interesting development in any of the characters excluding one villain who is mediocre at best. Watching DBSuper is like watching a bunch of cardboard cutouts fly and punch each other really hard and then end the day screaming really hard. Enjoyment: 4/10. Some fights are ok to watch, I also had nostalgia-feels watching the sequel to one of the first animes I was exposed to and have rewatched several times (DBZ). But even then there was clearly something off with DBSuper. I felt no tension in any of the arcs, and most of the fights did not captivate me the way even the simple, inconsequential fights of DB and DBZ did. I couldn't even turn off my brain to enjoy the fights because the fights weren't even choreographed well. If you're going to write a story that doesn't have interesting characters, themes or plot, at least make it fun to watch. Overall: 2/10. DBSuper is a contender for the worst battle shounen of all time. It is a shameful legacy to DB and DBZ and I'm surprised it's so popular when it just does the bare, BAREST minimum (not even) in terms of its story and characters. I would give this a 1/10 but the soundtrack is pretty good and the last arc of the series does have 1 or 2 good fights, so +1 for that I guess. Other than that watch literally anything else for a better time.

I can't see how anyone can loath Dragon ball GT, yet adore Dragon ball super. I grew up watching Dragon ball and Dragon ball Z, while these anime are far from perfect, especially with childhood nostalgia removed from the equation, they still possess qualities which make them enjoyable in their own right. I went into Super wanting to enjoy it, to be filled with warm and fuzzies as I reminisce. What I got was a rerun of the latest films, only less enjoyable and with worse animation, which is to be expected given the budget and time a film has when compared to the average series. Followed by a frivolous tournament arc, which i can't even remember. Now time for Goku black, probably the highlight of the series. Jiren, a character written for the purpose of giving Goku some competition in the tournament of power, to basically stop Goku dominating. A character with a single dimension and cliche, crappy back story. Every other Dragon ball character we have known over the years is cast aside to let Goku be the raving center of attention, no body else matters any more. Power scaling is completely thrown out and remember how long it took our main protagonists in DB and DBZ to increase their power? pfft forget that, now anyone can make exponential LEAPS in strength in a few episodes. Remember when Goku first achieved SSJ, how much of an achievement that like, the legendary transformation. Well forget all that, now all you need to achieve that is a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast. Want that new form? Don't need to train for it, just dig really deep, okay? Granted this started in the Buu saga in DBZ, which I also didn't enjoy. To conclude what has been a pretty messy review, I wanted to like super, but everything was against me: - Bad writing - Bad continuity (Character development from the previous series gone) - Bad pacing - Power scaling

I remember when I was like 10 and I dreamed fighting bad guys alongside Goku, becoming a powerful super saiyan and marry Bulma. This is what Super is, a Dragon Ball fan fiction written by people who think they understand DB perfectly but have no idea what the series is really about, exept marrying Bulma, that was my thing. I remember when everybody was hyped for the Dragon Ball Room team leading the writing of the series, but as it's finally over I think I appreciate the Black Goku arc more and more by contrast. The tournament of power arc is probably the best antithesys of Dragon Ball Z as a whole, where every single trope that Z established is done as worst as it could. Ultra Instinct is literally a "I win anyway" wih no explanation or build up to it whatsover, and if you think that's how power-ups work in DB you're a fucking retard, both the super saiyan and super saiyan 2 were built up for the entirety of their respective arcs and the super saiyan 3 and the fusion were not used only for ending the Buu arc so stop saying that please. Oh yeah, and Vegeta also gets an unexplained power up, except it's totally useless and raises more questions than it should. The villains of this arc are total garbage. Let me teach you how to find out who is the villain of any episode is: if he/she laughs maniacally it's the villain, good job Dragon Ball Room, I can see why you guys were trusted with the most influential series in Japan history. They have zero depth and when they try to make them look interesting it's just ridicoulus. Jiren's backstory is probably the worst I've ever seen in long time, and for a show like Dragon Ball it's a disgrace. Take Frezeer: he doesn't have a lot of depth as a character that's for sure, but he still managed to be intimidating and fun to watch and to hate, he's a simple villain but there's a reason if everybody remembers him, unlike Jiren who doesn't say a word for 30 episode, when he finally does he sounds like the douchiest jerk there is, and then they give him a tragic backstory, how the fuck am I supposed to connect with a character like that? But Kale and Caulifla are the worst thing in this shithole of an arc. It's literally written how I thought of myself in the DB universe as a kid, they are random dudes, a super saiyan walks to them and they become super saiyan in a day, what the fuck, no really what the fuck? Remember when Goku had to watch his best friend blowing up by a guy whom he couldn't defeat with his most powerful weapon? When Trunks couldn't fight alongside Gohan because he was too weak? How Gohan saw his former enemy who turned out to be a gentle and innocent man crushed to death after he made an encouragement speach for him turning his morals upside down? That's called character build up. Cabba turning into one was pretty weak by itself, but Kale and Caulifla didn't even justified it, and people like them anyways beacuse they are cute girls with a hint to be gay, that's sexist and they knew it when they wrote them like that, the fact that they are bishoujos make up for how stupid and sloppy they were written, I think it's disgusting. The only reason that I and many MANY people stick out for this pile of trash is because we are nostalgic fucks, we like Goku and watching Goku every week, doesn't matter how badly written he is, and I'll miss him a lot. That's pretty much everything that Super is, a bad show written by incompetent writers that only lives up to the heritage of one of the best anime and manga there was, fuck you Dragon Ball Super, see you in 7 months.

its for sure one of the best anime i have ever seen the people who are not giving that anime a 10/10 rate dont know whats good. i really hope this show will continue soon. The characters are so well i can't find an example of what's on this level. The animation and the fight scenes is the best in all of anime (in my opinion). so everyone who did not see this masterpise should really take time to watch that anime and have a great time with it. The anime is not like all the other new gen anime which are all almost the same. it brings a lot of variety in the genre. Fazit I dont think i need to say a lot about the sychro because its nothing outher then perfect. (i watched it in german and japanesse). its for sure the best synchro i heared so far the voice actors are doing it with such a passion like i never saw it befor. I would invent a whole new price for such good vioce actors like a voice actor oscar or so. overall the anime has a great writhing and knows how to make every scene legendary . The voice acting is just insanely good, the animation and fight scenes are the best i know. i hope everyone can have the experience to watch that anime and have a nice time. have a great day.

Dragon Ball Super makes GT an even better anime. The plot is a complete mess with no logic at all, showing villains that are empty. I wasted my time watching it, they just recycle things and add nothing new or something that is remotely interesting, the plot is hey new enemies just because The animation in the first episodes was really bad, the BSO is okay. Overall I think they just try to squeeze the anime and making it super simply I guess that's why more people like it... If you love Dragon Ball I would highly recommend to avoid it at all cost and pretend this doesn't exist

So this is my review of Dragon Ball Super. First off, I’m doing this out of obligation, as any real DB fan would. I normally don’t leave reviews, and wasn’t going to say anything.. But seeing people giving this series a 10 out of 10, I couldn’t just sit back and hold my tongue without telling the truth. I created an account just to post this review. That’s how serious I am. Here is the objective truth Dragon Ball Super - all favoritism, personal bias, opinions, and prejudices put aside. Dragon Ball Super is easily the worst piece of fiction ever created. Anyone who tells you otherwise either, has no knowledge of DB, has an IQ of 62 or below, was never taught Critical Thinking, or is a delusional child who’s brain hasn’t developed yet. The most obvious assumption is probably all the above. The Anime and the Manga both do not deserve the slightest bit of praise in any way, shape, or form. Akira Toriyama has shown his ignorance and successfully destroyed every aspect of Dragon Ball’s existence. The only reason anyone likes DBS is simply because it has the name “Dragon Ball” stamped on it. In fact, I’ll even go a step further; DBS doesn’t even need an argument made against it to express how foolishly retarded it is. But for the sake of context, and low IQ people, I’ll present one anyway... Dragon Ball Z was originally intended to end after Goku defeats Frieza on Namek. But it became so popular that the fans demanded it continue. So the creator did just that. Toriyama did not want to continue after Frieza. Now I will admit that Dragon Ball and Z are not perfect. Mistakes are present for sure, but nowhere near to the extent DBS has. I have never in my entire life, felt more disrespected when reading/watching this series. Everything that you ever knew about DB and DBZ is completely irrelevant in DBS. All the characters, power scaling, and comedy are completely gone. Nothing of what made the epic moments of Dragon Ball can be found in this pathetic excuse for a sequel. Did the people producing Dragon Ball Super even read the Original DB Manga, watch the Anime at all? How did this writing pass quality control? Or was there any? The writing feels like it’s done by preschool kids. Yet all DBS fans consume it like it’s a full course meal! Any character can suddenly be the strongest fighter ever if the plot demands it. There are no consequences, stakes, or point of anything in DBS. If DBS never existed, nothing would be any different after the events of DBZ. DBS turned out to be a typical corporate, low quality cash grab. It took Goku many fights and training to achieve Super Saiyan. For everyone really, it took a lot of work. Now Super Saiyan has been reduced to a tingling feeling in the back. What a joke! They don't give a shit, all the characters’ images are flushed down the toilet. Vegeta becomes a funny, obsessed with food persian cat’s lapdog, trains with Goku like they were good ol’ buddies, becomes a regular, tamed family man. This is truly something a DB hater would come up with to trigger its fandom. Vegeta also gets a silhouette of a woman. Being a saiyan lost its meaning, previously creators made us believe that they really were a legendary, feared throughout universe warrior race, through their bulky design, fear-inducing and prideful attitude, and their thirst for battle. Now we have Vegeta becoming submissive, Gohan going full human, and new Saiyans being gentle and friendly with childlike bodies. Goku becomes such a massive and egoistic fool that he’s hardly a likeable character anymore, and starts treating his family like garbage. What Goku used to be like is especially showcased in his relationship with Gohan, he would always encourage him, he made it clear that while Vegeta’s pride was a wicked obsession of self-worth, Goku’s pride was his son. In super? When Vegeta suggests getting Gohan to help them fight, Goku refutes the idea because Gohan is too rusty, where did all the confidence in his son go? Goku doesn’t react at all when Gohan tells him that he will be a grandfather, at some point Goku forgets that Gohan even exists. Goku now enjoys playing games that remove billions of lives from existence with satisfaction on his face, heck he even takes part in organizing them. Where is that Goku that becomes super serious and legitimately scary when innocent beings are threatened? Goofy or not, selfish or not, Goku was never the kind of person to observe others getting slaughtered (with that 1 “exception” where he watches his son getting beaten up due to misunderstanding of his character, gets enlightened by Piccolo and immediately asks Krillin for a senzu bean to intervene), let alone take part in it. Goku’s intelligence, regular and emotional lowers to levels that shouldn’t even be possible, from not very bright, but still family loving man he turns into a rock, he’s now the kind of person you try to avoid in real life because of how obnoxious his behavior is. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta in super might look (a bit) like them, they might have the same voices, but they’re not even close to actually being them. And those are just main characters, other ones also do get treated badly, Videl, Fat buu and Piccolo lose their charm, Goten and Trunks are completely ignored. They include new, insanely overpowered, comical characters, gods of destruction, even stronger angels, and the one above all, a toy robot god with a mind of a three year old child. This really is the pinnacle of super showing how non serious and parody-like it is. The entire concept of Zeno is the most horrible story telling ever. A Toy Robot that has the mind of a 3 year old is the most powerful entity in the multiverse? Am I supposed to take that even remotely seriously? What’s more ridiculous is they start including scenes to make everyone beerus' or zeno's (the overpowered characters I spoke of above), How can you take anything, any villain, any fight, any emotional scene seriously in a setting like this? Everyone can just be removed by a touch of Beerus’ finger or Zeno’s thought. Whenever super tries to get serious it just can’t because of all these design mistakes. The final arc of super is a war between universes, but it feels like children flinging sand at each other in a sandbox, nobody takes it seriously with Zeno chanting how cool it is. When you watch it, you just want it to end because of how unintensive, casual and forgettable it is. Give all the shit you want for staring contests and grunting noises in Z, but they knew how to make things dramatic and intense. Screaming and getting blond hair with blue/green eyes was always a bit cheesy but they kept it consistent so it was acceptable, but now they started throwing in random colors and transformations one after another, pink, blue, red, green, white, what's next, rainbow saiyan? And all those transformations are reached on a whim, struggle and emotional trauma are not required anymore. There’s no sense of power scaling whatsoever, when you recall scenes like Goku and Gohan training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber it made sense that they came out much stronger. In super anyone can just jump over a colossal power difference with no effort, Android 17 hunts poachers for a while or Frieza trains for 4 months and they jump over 4 Saiyan Transformations. There’s no emotional side to super, with all characters being infantile and dumbed down versions of their previous selves, universe becoming a parody of itself, bonding replaced with weak gag scenes, you will feel absolutely nothing, any emotional scene in super feels forced and usually is a fan service like Piccolo dying for Gohan against Frieza in the same pose he did against Nappa years ago. Even in the more comedic setting in the original dragon ball, Goku and Krillin’s friendship/rivalry and their student/mentor relationship with Roshi were believable and grew on you, in super there is nothing like this, it’s all low quality gag scenes with food. You know t…

I've seen all the episodes and I loved watching them! Trust me, I was waiting to watch the latest episodes being awakened whole day/night. The animations were so good with those power boots. Moreover, the last episodes of Goku & Jiren were so good. I would watch this my entire life. Apart from this show, I even watch the anime war that is made by master media on YouTube. That's so fascinating as well. I wonder how many of you loved the fight between Jiren and Goku. And.... how many of you wanted to see Vegeta kicking out Jiren? Did you really miss their fight?

Honestly, I did not watch the anime before that. I intend to read the Classic manga. Dragon Ball was an anime that I appended all of it without watching, but that does not make me able to comment on the work as a whole as if it had that ability. History: Well what to talk about it, only part 2 of the anime there is a story (Arc of the Trunks of the Future), the rest? Not Speaking of this bow, he has a good development of history, well done, without many thefts, that is, it is medium and legal. That simple. Art: Good art, keep what we know of Dragon Ball, characters with good traits, many people could give a smaller note by preferring the old one, but this does not happen to me. Nothing to complain about about art, note 8! Sound Production: In most anime? Bad, in the Power Tournament? Well done Nothing much and different, just action songs for an anime fight. Characters: My 4th note is only for one character: Zamasu. He was the only personage developed throughout the anime. It was a character with an interesting plot, which combines with Dragon Ball, in addition to a legal development! Only this. Dragon Ball Super is a weak anime, where the focus is on fights, transformations, and the protagonist. Only one bow was decent and well worked, the rest is dispensable for the whole story. As someone said in a review, just take a bow that will not make any difference, I think this is the biggest problem, an anime made to get fans nostalgia, and money, that's all.

This might be one of the worst shounen out there. None of the charm and essence of DBZ is in this cash-cow milked sequel. It's clear this series was just made to take the DB trademark and ring all the money it could from it; and since fans of DB get hyped if Goku is taking a dump, you can bet they succeeded in making money off this sequel by putting in the least work possible. Story: 1/10. First off, the entire world of Super feels so contrived and bland for how much the show tries to expand it. There's all this talk of multiple universes but nothing interesting comes from it. There was a DB fanfiction manga, DB Multiverse or something, that made more out of the idea of universes and parallelism between universes than this show did. None of the characters among the universes are interesting, and the actual fact that other universes exist is trivial because we never see how these universes evolved or if there are Goku/Vegeta/Gohan/etc - counterparts within these universes. The writer could've easily said "these fighters came from other planets" and nothing would've changed; the word 'universe' is thrown around to artificially have stakes that don't really amount to anything. In general, the story of Super isn't really deep or profound. You could say the same of Z, but I'd disagree there. At least Z had a coming of age story with Gohan, or Goku avenging his people and proving Saiyan dominance over a tyrant in the Frieza saga. With Super, you just get linear fights for the sake of it, with no depth to the story at all. It's all about changing your hair color to win. Of course Z established that precedent, but even then it tried putting layers to the idea with Saiyan transformations paralleling a desire/emotion for success, and the Cell saga imposed limitations on the SSJ transformation that warranted the saiyans trying to find new ways to surpass their power. Super doesn't do any of that, and is probably the worst shounen to date in terms of power scaling. Art: 3/10. Inconsistent and lazy. The ToP does have better art though. I'd say the first 2/3 of the show have a 2/10 art rating but the ToP has around a 5 or 6. Sound: 5/10. The soundtrack has a few good tracks but overall nothing memorable. Character: 1/10. Every character you loved in Z is either irrelevant or stripped of his dimensionality and turned into a caricature of his former self. Vegeta is just a grumpy dude, and Goku is idiotic and naive but of course is able to get all the special powerups because he's the main character. There was a certain wittiness and determination to Vegeta in Z that made him likable and strong-willed which is just gone now. Likewise, Goku was naive in DBZ but not as dumb as he is now. Enjoyment: 2/10. Turn your brain off and you'll get some ok fights, except not really because somehow the choreography and direction of Super is miles below Z, which came out 30 years ago. Overall: 2/10. Only thing good to come out of this show is the FighterZ videogame and even then that game got old real quick. +1 for trying though.

As a child Dragon Ball Z was among some of the first anime I was ever introduced to, along with the rest of the shows that aired on the toonami back in the day. I still have such fond memorizes of forcing myself to stay up on Saturday nights just to watch DBZ, Naruto, One Piece, and even Prince of Tennis of all things. So like most I got very hyped when we all learned that Dragon Ball was coming back with a new entry into the series...unfortunitly the hype didn't last as the first two arcs of the show were poor rehashes of the last two movies. A bit of promise showed in the Universe 6 tournament, but quickly burned out mid Goku black arc and eventually died out at the tournament of power. So that's my quick run down of DBS if you don't feel like reading any more of this, but for those who wish to stay I'm gonna go arc by arc explaining my likes and dislikes of them. Battle Of Gods & Resurrection F: What's not to love about having your show start with a slow, unenjoyable retelling of the last two DBZ movies. honestly a lot of my gripes just come from the fact that these two arcs are a bit one the redundant side for anyone who's seen their movie counterparts. I understand that not every might have seen them but when the animation is as awful as it was for both arcs, I'M LOOKING AT YOU EPISODE 5, then why bother animating them at all. Along with Toei animations inablity to animate these arcs there was a lot of fluff added that didn't need to happen. The best example being the return of Captain Ginyu, while I'm not saying Tagoma was this super interesting character that I hated to see go, this just felt like a shameless attempt to spark some nostalgia for fans of DBZ. The fights in these two arcs just feel so lifeless compared to their movie versions, with the only on close to being as good as the movies being SSG Goku Vs Beerus. On the brighter side of things the more light hearted episodes were a treat to watch, and felt like I was watching the OG dragon ball with their emphasis on Dragon Ball's more comedic half. Universe 6 Tournament: Everything this arc does makes me wish the rest of the series was more like this! The world building knowledge bomb that is the fact that there are multiple universes opens the door for all sorts of possibilities, making me at first think DBS might take a more GT style story where goku and the gang would go from universe to universe meeting new allies and fighting strong new foes, but boy was I wrong. The cast of U6 charaters we are introduced to are all a treat, with the exception of Botamo and Magetta. From the hillarious duo of Champa and Vados, to they plucky young saiyan Cabba, the dirty cheat Frost, and of course my personal favorite character from all of DBS the hitman Hit. While the first matches against Botamo and Magetta were pretty much just warm ups for Goku and Vegeta the action starts to pick up with the fight of Piccolo Vs. Frost and they only get better and better with the peak being the fantastic fight of Goku Vs Hit. This fight is personally the best fight in the whole of DBS for me, it reminds us that Goku is a talented fighter who is quick to adapt to Hit's OP Time Stop ability. Though Hit is just as skilled of a fighter and still continues to put the pressure on Goku even in SSB, leading to the amazing return of the Kaioken which helps push this fight up to one of the best fights in all of Dragon Ball. Most importantly GOKU LOST A FIGHT, a rarity for Dragon Ball, which left the impression that while Goku has grown the other universes could be filled with fighters who are as strong if not even more powerful than him. Needless to say I could go on till the cows come home about how I love this arc but I'll do us all a favor and move on. Goku Black: So back when I watched DBZ Trunks was my favorite character, like come on the dude had a sword whats not to love. So hearing that this arc was gonna mark the return of Trunks I was pretty excited, that was until I saw that he had blue hair instead of its usual lavender color. I know this is a really nitpicky sort of thing but in scenes that have both version of trunks it's extremely annoying to see kid Trunks with the right hair color and then future Trunks has that damn blue hair color. Of course with future Trunks back that means so is the time machine, and good kami do they use and abuse that poor time machine for this arc. With there being no minions for Goku and Vegeta to fight it means all fights have to be against Goku Black and/or Zamasu so when one side is one the ropes they just jump to the present or future to stretch this arc out far too long. On top of that since these villains are as strong as they are it means Vegeta has to do a lot of jobbing to show off the strength of these foes which is a real shame since it only gets worse for Vegeta from here. The arc could have been resolved easily since Trunks learns and uses the Evil Containment Wave on Zamasu, but Goku being Goku accidentally left the seal for the container back in the present. Thankfully this blonder on Goku's part leads to the return of the mighty fusion fighter Vegito, which you quickly find out is just another nostalgia trip when he is gone almost as quickly as he came. Only to give the win to Trunk with an admittedly super cool final clash using the spirit sword, but my big grip is how is there enough people left on earth in the destroyed future to give any meaningful amount of energy to the spirit bomb turned sword. Even still that doesn't kill Zamasu and he has to get ctrl alt deleted by Zenoh because this arc has gone on for far too long. This arc could have really been better if there wasn't so much time line hopping and Vegeta jobbing. Tournament of Power: THIS ARC IS WHY THIS SERIES DROPPED FOR A 6 TO A 4 FOR ME! For one we already had a tournament arc two arcs ago, but more importantly this tournament was just poorly done. With this tournament being an 80 person 8 way team free for all with a 48 minute time limit, it was clear from the start that it was going to be a hot mess. We have to get introduced to 75 new fighters and 10 sets of god of destruction, angel, and supreme kai's and almost all of them are gone before we even learn the most basic things about them, and those that we do get to learn about are awful, with the exception of of the delightfully bombastic Toppo. Seeing as each universe is a team of 10 lets talk about them. Universes 9, 10, 4, 3, and the majority of 2 are irrelevant and only exist for the big players of Universes 6, 11 and 7 to beat senseless as a warm up for their later fights between these three universes. Speaking of universe 7 lets talk about our 10 fighters, while the majority of the team makes a lot of sense it's a bit odd that the human fighters are here since they are unfortunately highly out classed by many of these higher tier fighters. While Krillin and Master Roshi are given their time to shine in this tournament, one questions why Tien was included if he was only going to get eliminated in the most unceremonious way possible(see Plague of Gripes video on Tien for more info). To avoid this part of the review being me complaining about every fight I hate and just simply say that 90% of these fights are awful and only get good once the only universes left are 6, 7, and 11. unfortunately for U6 almost all of the time spent showing their fighters is spent on the highly controversial saiyan duo of Kale and Caulifla(that's a rant for another time). Once these fussed together saiyan ladies get a hot load of kamehameha to the face, we can get to the real fight Goku Vs the buff ayyy lmoa alien...I mean Jiren which was honestly a cool fight but it just dragged out way too long. OH MY KAMI DOES JIREN"S MOTIVATION SUCK. It's not like it's impossible to make a motivation like seeking power to avenge your family only become power hungry good, just look at Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho for a perfect execution of that very same motivation. It was…

[Watched Only In Japanese] Its no secret that I think that Dragon Ball is spiraling down an eternal hole of darkness, one from which there is no escape. Goku has descended into a caricature of his former self, Vegeta has reversed all of his character development, Toei has more-or-less forgotten how to treat Gohan, and the plot grows more and more ridiculous. The series started off at a terrible point by adapting the two most recent films in the franchise. The show would have been better off not retreading this familiar territory, but it doesn't really get much better after that. The Universe 6 tournament was a mediocre arc with a pretty cool end, made worse by mediocre animation. The Goku Black Arc was interesting and fresh for the first half. Toei had successfully turned an idea as dumb as an evil Goku into an interesting concept. However, the arc then fell to pieces in its ending and left an all out bitter taste in my mouth. The Tournament of Power had the potential to be an incredible return to form for the franchise. Throughout the preparation episodes, the anime was bringing back the ideas of strategy, and removing the idea that power is absolute. However, the arc ended up heavily dragging and ruining itself. The 40 minute tournament took forever and came choke full of missed potential. With a villain so basic he makes Broly seem deep and fascinating, the tournament finished off in a predictable and sad way. You could get the same information and enjoyment out of a compilation fo some of its best moments. The highs of this arc are amazing, but the lows are so awful. All of this combined with a lame narrative through-line and the dragging plot result in a lackluster overall arc. I wasn't particularly a fan of the soundtrack either, save the second opening and Ultimate Battle. There were a few other notable themes, but many of them aren't ones I'll ever listen to in my free-time. Yamamuro's character designs just hurt me at a personal level, and make me yearn for the days of old. Along with this, while much of the animation is gorgeous, the rest ranges from ugly to awful. A lot of the characterization falls flat, and Goku has ascended into a full on caricature of himself. I yearn for the days where Goku could be a hero who protects those in need AND a goofy uneducated child who just wants a simple fight. Speaking of the overused main character, the voice of Nozawa Masako doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I now feel weird returning to Schemmel's portrayal. However, I can see why someone wouldn't like her, and I can respectfully not try and argue that point. This poor series embodies some of the worst elements of Dragon Ball, the bloated muscles and constant transformations and alien bull. I can see why someone would like those things, but that isn't what Dragon ball is for me. Personally, Dragon Ball started its descent during the middle of the Freeza Arc, and just cascaded from there. While I didn't hate GT, it definitely wasn't a positive time in the franchise, but for me, Super is about as low as Dragon Ball has ever been. Unfortunately, I don't see Dragon Ball ever regaining the glory it had before the introduction of Super Saiyan. Still not as bad as Dragon Ball Minus.

Spoilers incoming. Story: 3/10. The extent of DBSuper's narrative is basically "Villain appears, Goku fights but loses, Vegeta gets time to shine, Goku comes back and puts up a good fight but loses again, world is saved". Most of the arcs within Super are predictable (excluding Goku Black, which tried to be something different but fell short as well), and most of the characters are shafted or given superficial moments of 'character development' to make it seem like they're relevant. Don't let this fool you: DBSuper is solely about Goku, and everyone else is just there to make Goku shine brighter than ever. If you're a Goku fanboy, you'll LOVE Super; if you wanted to see other characters get their time in the spotlight, or wanted an interesting narrative filled with deeper themes and good character development, you're fresh out of luck. Although, the latter really never was a staple of the DB franchise, but Super definitely manages to be the worst of the three in presenting superficial plots and characters. Art: 6/10. DBSuper had a pretty rough start in terms of animation and art; in fact, DBZ's Saiyan saga fights had more intensity and action than Super's, where the fights in the former were only on the planetary destruction level while those of the latter involve beings that can destroy galaxies. The animation prior to the ToP arc is janky, save for the few episodes where Takahashi came in to animate; DBSuper's fight scenes are actually a step down from its predecessor's, which aired nearly 20-30 years before its onset. The ToP arc does fix this problem and present us with pretty good animation and art, but it's hard to forget the mediocre at best artwork prior to this. Sound: 7/10. Great soundtrack, although not much diversity. You won't get Falcouner-level music here, but some of the tracks can get you pumped. Character: 3/10. Every character is a caricature of what their personalities were in DBZ, and most are ignored just to have Goku in the spotlight. The ToP tried to insert some superficial development within our characters (both old and new), but this is, as stated, SUPERFICIAL at best. Jiren comes off as a knock-off Toguro or space Batman rather than an actual original character; he is probably the most one-dimensional character ever presented in DB to date. In DBZ, we got some pretty great character development, namely from the likes of Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, heck even Mr. Satan even though he was a joke character. Here everyone is, for the most part, ,static, and Toriyama tries to put on the facade of development by having a cliche scene where Goku thinks about his friends and family and gets stronger or the like. Granted, DBZ was never about profound character development or a mature handle of themes; it's basically mindless fighting with characters we love. But those characters I loved in DBZ ended up as characters I can't even respect in DBSuper; there really is no personality to be had in any of these characters other than some singular sentiment that doesn't even spark the driving force of change. Toriyama plays it safe here and doesn't want his characters to change, which makes Super just consist of a series of events rather than an actual engaging narrative where I care about what happens and who's involved . Enjoyment: 6/10. If you shut off your brain and just watch for fun, you'll have some good times. The ToP specifically has some great fight scenes, and whenever our main character Goku takes the spotlight, Super is sure to be at its best in terms of animation, art, sound, etc. Other than that, you'll get somewhat interesting fights, nothing too noteworthy. If you're a fan of plot armor powerups and multitudes of super saiyan transformations, you'll be in love with Super too; pretty sure we have atleast 5 of the 7 colors of the rainbow in super saiyan transformations at this point. Overall: 4/10. Some say the hate at Super stems from DBZ fanboys who watched the show as kids and are blinded by nostalgia. I only watched DBZ in its entirety a few months ago, and having watched through DBSuper, the same charm and intensity is completely absent from the sequel. This is probably one of the more subpar shonens I've watched so far, and the only reason it's as popular as it is isn't due to any good writing on Toriyama's part, but rather from Toriyama riding on the coattails of his past work's legacy.

Dragonball Super has successfully managed to destroy all my interest and future expectations towards the franchise. Nothing what made the Dragonball Z enjoyable can be found in Dragonball Super. The most basic things like character development, animation and story are god awful and leave way too much to be improved. But don't worry the series are still circlejerking around Goku through the entire series. Goku is "the man" he will always save the day and I mean ALWAYS. I am so tired of seeing this overused plotmachine called Goku. Don't even dare to give any excuses how this is acceptable. Goku is running around with godmode on and isn't even interested what he is facing more than half of the time. There is never any sense of danger or trouble because he exists. Lets talk more about character development in Super. ITS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. Any character can suddenly be on the level of Goku if the plot demands it and apparently writers thought this was a great idea. Its not. Not only does this type of writing make the story and the past events completely meaningless it makes characters that worked their way to the top weaker than most of the other characters that were lightyears away from reaching others. Animation. My god this awful animation. It gets better eventually when the show goes further but it has become meme at this point because of how bad it was at the beginning. There is really nothing to say about this show or maybe I just don't feel like writing any longer than this. Dragonball Super ruined my childhood memories and Im never forgiving these writers for doing so.

After a long time Dragon Ball finally gained another anime series. The last one, Dragon Ball GT, was an absolute disaster, and Dragon Ball Super, although is better than the first one, is not far in terms of mediocrity. To begin with the first two arcs are merely the repetition of the movies Battle of Gods and Ressurrection of F, but with a terrible animation and a very slow pace. These arcs contrast deeply with the nature of Dragon Ball Z, with a less serious story. This is not necessarily bad, but this was a radical change, not to mention that the characters were infatilized to fit in this new perspective, in a totally arbitrary way. Vegeta is undoubtedly the most tragic example of this. The change was so radical that there is no more any sense of menace in the anime. Goku, even if he is a funny character, was serious when his friends and the Earth were in danger, not only in Dragon Ball Z, but also in the original series. This problem is present not only in the beginning, but almost in the whole Dragon Ball Super, with the exception of the Black saga. Other chronical problem is the chaos that power levels became. Dragon Ball, since Z, is all about encoutering stronger enemies, training, and then defeat this new enemies. This formula cannot work if the power levels are not clear, and the progression is not logical. This series is completely confuse in regards to this: Goku without any transformation can fight Hit, and Vegeta in super saiyan blue form is easily defeated. This not to mention absurds, like Android 17 that is years without any training, having a power level similar to super saiyan blue(in the android saga he was weaker then Cell, that was weaker then super saiyan 2 Gohan). Some people can argue that these are just small plot holes. The problem is that Dragon Ball Super relies on the formula of surpassing stronger enemies, on superation. This needs clear power level rules to work, or everything will be only arbitrary. Also, the series not only is very bad, but also undermine Dragon Ball Z. Vegeta losed completely his personality, and Freeza, the most iconical villain of the franchise, is turned on a charicature, loosing everything that characterizes him as an incredible antagonist. Talking briefly about the arcs that are not movie adaptations, the universe 6 saga had potencial to have better fights, against more interesting opponents, but had a good ending and a nice final battle. The Black arc had a good idea, but in the end the power levels did not made any sense, and the explanation for the events were filled with plot holes. The final saga, the Universe Tournament, was completely stupid, made no sense, without any sense of danger, character development or anything interesting at all, with the exception of some fights. In conclusion, Dragon Ball Super has a terrible animation, is filled with plot holes, a very slow pace(with even "fillers" in a anime that is not based on a manga), distorts completely iconical characters of the franchise, destroys completely the power levels logic, and lacks any sense of danger and menace, what make the battles void of any type of emotion. However, there is an important positive aspect in the series: Dragon Ball Super is not Dragon Ball GT.

Dragon Ball Super is a series produced by Toei Animation and created by Dragon Ball legend, Akira Toriyama. The series, which first aired July 5th, 2015, is a sequel series to Dragon Ball Z, a standout series that continues to be the most popular anime’s worldwide. Dragon Ball Super follows Goku and the Z Fighters and brings many new enemies and adventures in their path. Dragon Ball Super has had ups and downs in 131 episodes. When the series first began, it was met with a rushed production schedule and had episodes of poor animation and uneven writing. That being said, the series bounced back and had moments that reached the greatness of the series before it. The anime went from July 5th, 2015 to March 24th, 2018 and had 5 Sagas within it. As a series review, I will individually score each Saga and give a final series score at the end. Dragon Ball Super was an overall joy to watch and while it had sagas that could have been better, it equally had sagas that were epic. Battle of Gods Saga The Battle of Gods Saga lasted the first 14 episodes of the series. A retelling of the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, this saga did not bring much new to the table outside of fleshing out plot points and providing a slightly alternate scenario from the film. Overall the Battle of Gods Saga was one of the weaker arcs of the series solely because it was a retelling of a feature film. One might consider even skipping these 14 episodes and just watching the film as it hits on all the major plot points needed for the series. 2/5 Resurrection F’ Saga The Resurrection F’ saga was another retelling of a Dragon Ball film. Based around the events of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F’, this saga provided a similar experience to the Battle of Gods arc. Bogged down by subpar animation and a rehashed plot line, the series was still struggling to come into its own and failed to captivate audiences the way Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z did in years past. While there are certain elements of this saga that I personally feel were benifited with the extra episodes, overall, the saga was satisfactory at best. 2.5/5 Universe 6 Saga The Universe 6 Saga of Dragon Ball Super was when the series finally had a chance to shine. With an original story outlined by Akira Toriyama and crisper animation, the series finally started to get comfortable under its own skin. This saga was the first time Dragon Ball Super felt like DRAGON BALL SUPER. The saga follows Goku and Vegeta as they continue to train under the Gods of Universe 7. In this saga, Universe 6 and Universe 7 are set up in a tornament for the control of Goku’s Earth. This Saga brought many great action set pieces and introduced the characters of Universe 6, including Champa, Hit and Cabba. The tournament reaches a strong climax with Goku and Hit battling with the high if their powers. The saga was much more enjoyable than the previous two and gave the characters great motivation and provided a dynamic direction for the Dragon Ball franchise. 3.5/5 Future Trunks Saga The Future Trunks Saga was the peak of Dragon Ball Super in my opinion. With incredible animation, arguably one of the greatest villains in Dragon Ball history with Goku Black, and a strong, engaging plot, The Future Trunks Saga was classic Dragon Ball goodness. The saga follows Future Trunks, last seen in the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z, who is being threatened by Goku Black. Trunks travels to the past to find the help of his old friends and the mystery of Goku Blacks kicks off. This saga does a spectacular job developing Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, creating a captivating villain in Goku Black, while also developing the mystery of Zamasu. The saga features amazing fight scenes and dynamic choreography, mixed with the right amount of fan service, nods to the great moments of the past and creating excitement and engagement for the future. The Future Trunks Arc is where Dragon Ball Super officially earned its place to stand with Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z. 4.5/5 Universe Survival Saga The Final Saga of Dragon Ball Super was the Universe Survival Saga. The finale for the series, the Universe Survival Saga was a story that Toriyama that had been building up to since the Battle of Gods Saga. It is worth nothing that this arc also had the most beautiful animation of the series by far, with art direction by animators like Yuya Takahashy leading the way. The Tournament of Power is held by Zeno and gathers a multiverse of the greatest fighters, worriers and beings whose only goal is to strive. Teams of fighters from 8 of the 12 universes gathered in a battle royal to see who is the strongest and also who deserves to survive. Goku gathers some of the most powerful and memorable characters in Dragon Ball history to help him. With a team of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, Android 17, Android 18, Piccolo, Tien, Master Roshi, and Frieza, this saga provides memorable callbacks to past arcs, creates unforgettable character moments between familiar faces while also creating new and engaging characters from multiple universes. The arc also sees Goku find his ultimate form and power, Ultra Instinct, which gives him instantaneous control over his body and makes him virtually invincible. Universes 7 and 11 end up being the final two as Universe 11’s Jiren, the strongest mortal fighter in the history of Dragonball faces off against Goku, who has achieved an unimaginable power. It’s truly a battle of the titans between them and the series ends on a spectacular note.

Dragon Ball Super is a sequel series to the iconic action anime Dragon Ball Z, continuing the story of the Z fighters. It completely ignores the now non-canon sequel Dragon Ball GT (thank goodness), and takes the narrative in a new direction involving Gods and alternate universes, all the while still delivering the same quirky humor and mind-blowing battles that made me a fan in the first place. Even though Super features the same cons as its predecessors – pacing issues, filler arcs, convenient power-ups, and the occasional plot hole – I was never really that bothered by them. That’s probably because the fights (i.e. the series’ main draw) are still insanely epic. In fact, Super‘s final battle might be my favorite anime battle ever. Watching Goku and Vegeta power up and throw down got me just as hyped as it did back in the day when I was ten years old, and the show is more than worth the time of any Dragon Ball fans.

From the series Dragon Ball, this sequel is about our protagonist GOKU who finds fun in fighting strong/powerful opponents. This time, Goku is fighting on a universal level (not much of a spoiler). The ART style may have changed, but it's still the same Dragon Ball to me. This series is also popular for its action scenes, & one can expect lengthy fights, so it may seem slow paced to some. The fights are exciting as always and one can expect occasional GOOSEBUMPS, as in that "Ultra Instinct" scene. :D GOKU is my favorite character in DRAGON BALL series. He may not know much about worldly business, but his dedication in getting stronger, putting his entire being onto the task is the reason he is close to my Ideal character. There are many other strong characters in this sequel ; WHIS, BEERUS & VEGETA, beings from other universes, etc. and beating them may not be easy for GOKU. Without a doubt this sequel will receive (10/10), for it is special to me, just like every other season of Dragon Ball. Thank You :)

Theres gonna be some spoilers. It just isn't good. Maybe it just isn't for me but I enjoyed all the other Dragon Ball series this one just has so many shortcomings that it is hard to sit down and have the dumb fun that the rest of franchise offers. Super took all the worst qualities from Dragon Ball Z and made a show out of it. Before I just berate this show it did do a few things right. The addition of Beerus as a character was not bad, he is an enjoyable character and his relationship with with his brother is a little cute, but Beerus opens a whole can of worms that still hurt this show drastically, more on that later though. Super also tried to make a psuedo deep villain, they failed miserably at it but Dragon Ball never really had an equivalent to someone like Pain and with Zamasu they at least tried. Bringing back Frieza in the long run may have been the best move made in the entire show, granted I am biased as he is my favorite villain in all of Dragon Ball, but Frieza while starting off very weakly written ends becoming probably the most developed character in the show by the end and he is like the only guy every doing anything clever. The story is very weak, just about every arc has zero stakes, nothing is at risk, or if there is the villains or the narrative do an awful job at making it appear meaningful at all. Whatever happens to be at risk is usually something of little to no personal value to any of the protagonists and because its Dragon Ball death is practically meaningless, not that this is necessarily anything new with the franchise but in this series it becomes overwhelmingly obvious. So with death being meaningless and no villain threatening any part of the cast on a personal level every battle and hardship starts to just feel meaningless. Many of the battles especially early on hold literally zero weight because Beerus and Whis are always just watching over every outcome ensuring that the protaganists cannot actually ever really lose. The points where Beerus isn't ensuring victory aren't any more intense though as they are either set in an tournament that is either meaningless or just completely littered with pointless fights against countless no names for literal hours. There are only three arcs in the entire show where if the protagonist loses something bad MIGHT happen, which are the Battle of Gods arc, The Zamasu arc, and the Tournament of power, and still none these create any suspense. Yes Beerus is a good character in a vacuum but he just doesn't work as the primary antagonist in a long episodic show like Dragon Ball, yes he says he will destroy earth but he never gives off any sense of malice, he isn't really a villain he is just so much stronger than anyone that he has no reason to care or regret his actions, he is literally a god after all. The only reason Beerus even shows up in first place is because he is looking to have a fun fight with Goku. Zamasu had the most potential to be something really memorable and they just completely missed the landing on him. Say what you will about how poorly written his arc was, at least he created suspense. His views and goals were just disgustingly evil, he is literally the only antagonist in the entire show that isn't just there for the sake of having a fight *cough* Frieza and Beerus *cough*, Zamasu at least has an actual motive besides just becoming stronger or having fun. He is honestly the only real villain in all of Super but he is just ruined by how weak his development is, faulty logic, and just bad story telling. There are so many plotholes in his arc that it just begins to make the whole story fall apart. Then halfway through watching his arc you're going to realize that there aren't actually any stakes or anything at risk in this arc either because it is all taking place in an alternate universe that none of the primary protaganists live in. RIP Zamasu you had potential but it was just never realized. Then there is Jiren, and good god what joke of a character he is. His only personality trait is that he is strong, and yes I know that strong isn't even a personality but somehow the writers wrote him so unbeliievably bad that it is his personality. All he is is just strong nothing else. Is he evil? Not really, I mean he is kind of a selfish dick, but no not really. What is his motive? To become stronger. Why is he so strong? Because one day he was weak and then he got strong. Is there any reason to root for this guy? Not at all. Is he at least relatable? Not in the slightest. I have honestly never seen a worse excuse for a antagonist than this. He hardly talks if at all for most of the episodes he appears in and for 90% of his own arc he just sits there saying and doing literally nothing. If he wasn't in the show I would have thought he was satire. Well maybe the beloved and iconic Dragon Ball characters make the show worth watching, right? Not at all, if you aren't Goku or Vegeta you are relegated to sitting on side lines shouting exposotion while they fight. This is pretty much the Goku Vegeta Show with a slint hint of Frieza. The show just isn't good everything wrong with previous Dragon Ball series just gets far worse, just don't watch it.

Where do I even begin? Dragon Ball Z honestly got a somewhat decent sequel. As you may have heard, the animation during the first 2 arcs can get pretty piss poor and is the reason why many people were turned off from super. From there, it only does get better. The Universe 6 tournament was a fun but short-lived tournament arc featuring interesting characters, to say the least. The Future Trunks arc was probably the best part about Super, with mystery, and amazing fight scenes. The music is also amazing, such as limit break x survivor. Overall, Dragon Ball Super could have been a lot better, such as giving more focus to characters other than Goku. But, on the other hand, it could have been a lot worse too.
