SUPER LOVERS(スーパーラヴァーズ)

After I watched the first episode I was enchanted. The animation and sound was good. The story of a man bonding with a damaged child was sweet. I was ready to love it. If saying this series is about a pedophile is a spoiler then so be it. It's about a pedophile This anime should have been good and would have been very good if Ren was 18 instead of 13. (Episode 2 starts 5 years after they meet and later Ren says he was 8 when they met). Take away all the justification of loneliness, etc. and in the end it's about a man grooming a child to be his lover and assaulting him. Adding to the horror is the many adults that witness it and do nothing. I love BL and rom-coms but this is something else entirely. Making an anime cute does not hide it's sleaziness. No adult should be okay with this.

I was enjoying the brotherly love and his elder brother instincts. But then...it got gross (I am sorry, but my opinion). And honestly it ruined the purity of sibling relationship It wouldv'e been a great anime if it were just slice of life and comedy. Moreover, the age gap is huge and the whole story is very very unsettling. Not a great bl anime. I am not gonna recommend ANYONE to watch it if u don't support incest. Thank you. I started watching this anime in search for some delightful fluff. Like in other godd shounen ai anime. Its certainly didn't meet my expectations. Rather it grossed me out (No offence )

The first time the two main characters meet, the brown-haired boy is only eight years old while the older character (who very much acts like a groomer) is already sixteen. That’s an eight-year age gap introduced at a point when one of them is still a literal child. The story treats this dynamic as if it’s completely normal or even wholesome, which is honestly shocking. I’ve never encountered another anime that presents grooming in such a romanticized and positive light, and it left me deeply uncomfortable. What frustrates me most is that the art style is genuinely good, but it feels completely wasted on a narrative like this. The show keeps trying to frame their relationship as sweet or touching, even though the underlying premise is inappropriate and disturbing. If your idea of entertainment involves watching a relationship built on grooming and a bizarrely normalized stepbrother romance, then maybe you’ll enjoy this anime. As for me, I was just disturbed, uncomfortable, and honestly regret watching it. I would prefer to forget the whole experience. It’s not something I’d recommend to anyone.

Weird, creepy, and very strange. Those are my thoughts in a few words. Its sad really. The characters themselves aren't so bad, other than being the classic overdramatic, attempting to set up a dynamic anime 'couple'. This anime would be a lot better if it were a brother-brother dynamic, because that setup was what i was expecting, but for some reason the author just decided to fuck up what could have been a good anime. The animation is pretty average but decent enough, and the voice acting was also good. This really could have gone far. The story is pretty bad, from something that looked to be a brotherly story turning into some incest-ish illegal minor-adult love relationship. The main character is a child who is in love with his brother, and his brother, is in love with him. HUH? WHY! Just make it a bromance or something, i would have enjoyed it more. They just....do things? then the odd overdramatic 'Oh....i never loved you anyway *crying commences' which ends in them making up, with sometimes sexual looking scenes and references sprinkles in their, love paedophilia i do yep yep.......its just so awkward. And the people they live with don't see a problem? i remember a scene when the child was sitting on the brothers lap with his ass out, and the brother was feeling it up. Someone walked in, noticed it, and said ''Im sorry to disturb you'' LIKE WHAT? CALL THE POLICE! I think if i ramble more it would get repetitive, and you probably know my thoughts by know huh? Its a paedophile anime, weird, creepy, and...very strange... goodbye!

One Word : Fantastic! I've seen many yaoi anime ; they're all good but for Super Lovers, I feel something new. I like how the story isn't too rushed and just play swiftly. Haru and Ren didn't instantly fall in love to each other and even as Ren grew up as a teenager, their feeling is still ambiguous ; either it's platonic or romantic. THE MORE FORBIDDEN THE RELATIONSHIP IS, THE BETTER. This yaoi anime may prove too taboo for some. It illustrates a "more-than-family" relationship between Haru and his younger adopted brother, Ren. It begins as an innocent quest to bond as brothers and to accept each other as family, but with Haru's doting ways and Ren's attachment, the bond between them begins to skew. Ren is desperately trying to understand what he means to Haru, and more importantly, what Haru means to him. This need to understand the complexity of love and what they mean to each other guides them into interesting situations. After all, being adopted isn't the same as blood-related! And it's not everyday you see yaoi with lots of comedy in it. Note : This is not like Boku no Pico. If you love yaoi who likes exploring 'forbidden relationship' in fiction, THEN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU THIS! DEFINITELLY ONE OF THE BEST YAOI ANIME EVER. I understand why, while most bl series only have 1 season or no more than 4 volumes, Super Lovers have many fans and is proven to be successful with 2 seasons and 14 volumes as I wrote this review. Note 2 : I want to criticize those who leave bad review on this anime. I don't recommend this series if you're not a BL fan, still new at BL anime, a minor or someone who applies morality in real life into fiction because you won't enjoy this anime as much as I do. Seriously, I've seen many people who are not the target audiences bother themselves watching this series only to be upset that the series was not what they expected. To put it simply, imagine this anime as a peanut and you have allergic with it. Of course, you have to avoid any anime/food where it'll make you sick. But remember, not all people have allergic to peanut so you can't just say, "this anime makes me sick, don't watch it."

In this shounen ai anime, Haru’s mother adopts a psychologically damaged orphan named Ren, and Ren and Haru form a special bond over one summer in Canada. Later when Ren is older, he moves to Japan to live with Haru and Haru’s two half-brothers. While they work on sorting out Ren’s psychological issues stemming from his past as an orphan, Ren and Haru slowly develop romantic and sexual feelings toward one another. The art here is undeniably lovely, crisp, and clean, and the slice-of-life elements are soft and sweet. However, though it doesn’t use many of the typical problematic yaoi tropes, the anime still falls apart on its core romantic relationship. Partially because they first meet when Ren is so young and such an unusual child, everything the older Haru does feels really manipulative and inappropriate. Even though they aren’t related by blood, Haru is still in a position of power over Ren as his guardian, which makes everything have a very awkward and uncomfortable overtone. They even discuss this element repeatedly throughout the anime but somehow aren’t ever able to come to the obvious conclusion. What’s worse is that everyone around them can see what’s going on and essentially enables the ongoing relationship instead of interfering to protect Ren, who is still a child. While it’s clear that Ren and Haru certainly care for each other, the anime would have worked better if the romantic aspect of their relationship had waited until Ren was older, with time to come to terms with his own sexuality, and then chose to pursue Haru, but it doesn’t work as it is and just feels unpleasant instead of the cute and funny tone it was going for.

Listen, I am as conflicted as you are. Is it good? I don't know, you tell me. Is it bad? I don't think so? Is this incest? I mean, I think no buy lowkey yes? Is this fucking pedophilia?!?!!?! YES BUT NO! I feel very conflicted and I feel even more conflicted because this was so good, oh my god kill me but listen up, listen. When I first watch this shit I was just getting into yaoi and anime. I had just watch two animes which were Junjou Romantica and Hitorijime My Hero and I wanted more, so I looked online for some good Yaoi recommendations and this fuckery appeared. It look sus, it look weird, and there was a little child and a whole grown ass man in the cover but I though "I am blind and I do not see anything wrong" For my surprise, all the chapters were on facebook and then my trip began... STORY 9/10 Putting aside the fact that yes, yes baby girl, this is incest and you have to admit it. They do not share blood but surprise, surprise, by law Ren is Haru's brother and they share a surname so they are brothers. AND THEY EVEN CALL EACH OTHER BROTHER WHICH IS SICK. Also, I didn't want to talk without knowing my facts so I investigated a little bit about Japanese laws an according to the penal code of Japan the age to have a consensual relationship is 13 years old but we have to keep in mind that this does not apply to every single type of relationship. As an example, a 13 year old can date a 20 year old and it will be legal, but if that 13 year old has a sexual relationship with his partner that is seemingly older than him it will now be illegal and it will be punish with 5 years of prison. But they can have sexual encounters except intercourse. So yes, I guess this is technically not pedophilia in Japanese culture but let's not play to be blind, this is fucked up. But a good fucked up and let me tell you why. Putting aside everything that I said before, this is a slice of life anime of a family which adopted a little kid that acts like a dog which is trying to adapt to society. It is funny, it has good characters, it has situations that will make you laugh a lot and you will have a good time. You will, be sitting there seeing this brothers fighting over something absurd and then BOOM a child groping his brother. Hey, it's a joke, but it is not a joke. ART 8/10 Pretty decent for Yaoi, but, not amazing, that is all. SOUND 10/10 Pretty good CHARACTER Now the intersting part. If I could dive the characters a 10000/10 I would. And let me tell you why. I has some of the best supporting cast that I have ever witness in Yaoi. We have the Kaidou brother's which are Haru, Ren, Aki and Shima. We also have Haru's bestie Iku and Haru's high school friend, Kiyoka which is our trans icon, Juuzen which is Ren's bestie and other members which names I don't remember. But I found all the character pretty easy to like and enjoy the little moments that they had in the anime. But it did stress the hell out of me why no one called the fucking police on Haru. But well, I guess everybody makes mistakes. ENJOYMENT 10/10 Hella funny and I hate that I enjoy it this much because say no to incest and pedophilia but technically it is not pedophilia so I have decided that I will make a blind eye on the incest part and pretend that it is not happening, trust me, do the same, you will not regret it. OVERALL I give it an 8 out of 10 because I can not make a blind eye. This is illegal territory, but if you don't have a lot of limits and really little morals, you will really enjoy this. So I guess... give it a chance? Oh I don't know, can we just make a a jump in time and make Ren 18 please? Is the only thing I ask. Thank you all and have a nice day.

Okay, guys listen up. I started this anime without knowing the plot. I finished it just out of curiosity. I am not gonna lie, I'm really into BL stuff but when it comes to the relationship status of the main "couple" its very weird. I was questioning myself if it is okay to watch such things. If there wasn't the age difference and their "family' relationship it would be fine I guess. I was really enjoying the ship between the main characters but I kept reminding my self those disturbing details and I just couldn't bear it. I can't deal with the fact that Haru is actually a pedo, I really can't. I gave it a 5/10 because I am confused.

It's a story of one very confused relationship. My main issue with it is that the pair of protagonists would have made a fine cast for a drama even without added dimensions of same-sex relationship and relationship with a minor. With it in the mix it feels like nothing is (or could be, really) satisfactory explored nor resolved. You are given ten snapshots and are left to make a story out of it for yourself. A pity that it wasn't presented better, there is plenty of meat to chew on in this setting. If you are into dissecting characters' mental issues and speculating what could have happened to cause such a mess -- sure, go for it. In a way the premise and exposition are very interesting. In a macabre "let's dissect an animal" way. If you are looking for enjoyable relationship, romantic or otherwise, I can't recommend it. It's heavy, full of confusion, misunderstanding and all sorts of abuse. A few funny moments or cute faces can't save it. Well, unless you are extremely good at ignoring elephant in the room. Then it's fine. There are some good parts.

Super Lovers was certainly an interesting watch, not something I would usually choose because I don't watch a lot of BL anime. I started it because I really like shonen voiced by women and it featured 2 of my favourite voice actors. First, the plot is definitely quite interesting though some parts felt a little out of place. The pacing didn't feel off, nothing feels too stagnant. It's kind of like a slice of life with BL elements sprinkled in. The BL element to all this is perhaps the most controversial part of this anime. Though Ren and Haru's relationship would certainly be uncomfortable and discouraged in real life, I found it interesting to delve into it in a fictional setting. Though it may not be intentional, I found it interesting the more subtle ways their relationship could be considered unhealthy. For example, Haru's treatment of Ren depends on his own mood and feelings at the moment-- he'll shower him with affection when he feels like it, and neglect him if he's not feeling up to par. He doesn't show signs of being ready to be a guardian figure for him. Their relationship can almost be described as codependent; it's clear that Haru clings to him for his own self-fulfillment, and he likely needs Ren more than Ren needs him. It's much like "throw a dog a bone once, he'll guard your house for life". He formed a bond with Ren during his formative years, which established a foundation for this relationship. Ren is definitely susceptible to manipulation, and quite accepting of Haru's antics. He is utterly devoted to his wants and needs. In short, he's a very convenient person for Haru to lean on and take what he needs from him. While Haru does care for him and spoil him, it does seem like he's doing it for his own benefit just as much. Super Lovers has caused divide among the anime community for its controversial elements. I personally find this anime interesting yet average. I found the plot quite uneventful and sometimes dry, but there were cute moments and the relationship between Ren and Haru was incredibly fun to analyse.

The show is awesome. This show is outstanding and fantastic and mind blowing. Every little detail shown in the show is great. I really enjoyed this show. This show breaks the chains of old orthodox society and really such shows should be made so that people can truly understand themselves and what they want. The teens shown looks like minor characters but the task the do is that of main characters sometimes and the way they perform on screen is awesome. Haru our hero and Ren the second protagonist of our story are in the world of their own an di truly enjoy watching them. It feels like I am there in the scenes and am seeing with my own eyes and experiencing the exact things that are happening on the screen. The entry of Haruko the mother was really great and funny. This is among the few shows where I remember the names of the cast and that is really awesome and tells how good this show really is.

*Slight spoilers* TL;DR --- this anime can be enjoyable for some, but if you're not a fan of the shounen ai genre or if you're not okay with incest or pedophilia, don't watch. This anime made me super uncomfortable. Call me a hater, but I don't support pedophilia- nor do I support incest. I just felt like Haru was taking advantage of Ren's innocence. Story- 6/10 The only reason the story was a 6/10 for me is because its creative in it's own way. It's a bit of a complex plot when it comes to their family... sooo it's a 6 for me. Art- 6/10 The art is also a 6/10 because there wasn't anything special about the art style of this anime. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't outstanding or unique- like Violet Evergarden or Devilman Crybaby. Sound- 7/10 I did enjoy the opening and ending. It was catchy. So, that's why its a 7. Character- 5/10 Now- the characters weren't awful, it just felt a bit unrealistic to me. The twins especially. It's not normal to just see your adopted brothers just start kissing and just be okay with it. I get that they're used to Haru's behavior-- but it just didn't sit right with me. Also, there's Haru. I really don't like him. As I said previously, I feel like he's taking advantage of Ren's innocence. He's a freaking pedophile. Enjoyment- 3/10 I feel like I've gave enough reasons as to why I didn't enjoy this. However, if you're looking for a good shounen ai, watch Doukyuusei (classmates),, its so good!! Overall: no❤️

I will go over more technical things when it comes to this anime. First of all, the OST is quite well picked. Makes a mood, brings atmosphere. Well, I'd found myself laughing every episode just because of the musical choices... I haven't read the manga yet, but I suppose it might be less comical than anime. The animation has its charm to it. I won't go over the plot, but just the setup, even though it's predictable and cliche (your typical bl romance anime setup), I still find myself enjoying watching the anime and not getting bored in the middle. Characters are interesting, likeable, can be related in some ways. Some. If, knowing the plot on some general level, you're stilling willing to give it a go, you might enjoy this anime, perhaps. It can be quite funny sometimes. I don't know about the manga but I am willing to give it a go.
