Koyomimonogatari or for me Kokomo for short is a compilation of short stories that are not necessarily integral to the plot. For the most part if you really want to you could only watch episodes 11 and 12 as they are the only episodes that are plot heavy and relevant. the story is fine because most of these episodes are short yet tolerable, the only bad part about the story is the fact that nothing really matters in the grand scheme of things for this plot. while it is nice to see some characters that we as viewers might not have seen much. Im talking about the sisters, and the snail specifically, it does get rather boring some times. the last two episodes are great and are a treat, though they mostly serve as a cliff hanger for Owarimonogatari 2nd Season the music is bad. well the only reason why its bad is because they reuse the same music every season. the characters are fine as usually the art style hasn't changed much. if your a fan watch it, but if you just want to get to Owarimonogatari 2nd season then just go too episode 11 and 12 and watch the other episodes later.

Gotta be the worst part of the entire Monogatari series so far, but that was to be expected since it's a miniseries of short 12-minute episodes and all but two of them are completely irrelevant to the main story. More character interactions with good jokes and thought-provoking puzzles are always good, but some of them have very underwhelming endings. The final two episodes, though? They are very important to the main story and feel almost out-of-place, though I guess technically they are also thought-provoking puzzles as well. This miniseries, since it was released online, has a noticeably lower budget; its OPs reuse songs from previous story arcs and slightly-remixed animation, and the soundtrack seems to include no new tracks. However, the animation and direction are still up to SHAFT's high standards (well high for the BD release) and won't disappoint. Obviously, it's a must-watch if you are going through the various Monogatari series and miniseries and movies, but go in expecting some pleasant filler, because that's what you're going to get.

Well, to be honest I kinda enjoyed Koyomimonogatari, each episode tells a different story (sometimes very very short), but it was like short break before Owarimonogari s2 (last ep. of Koyomimonogatari is closely connected to owa2 so to me is very interesting and importan to see this series even if it's not part of the 5 main parts (Bake, Nise, Mono2, owa,owa2). Sadly sometimes I noticed that arts especially in the first 2 episodes were not the best in some frames, but that was fine. as mentioned I also liked it because you don't have to understand various things you can just watch this part in a very calm way without any pressure..I mean compared to the 5 main parts where sometimes there were long monologue and you had to be focused to understand. Here of course is very different. YAY

Meh. I've just finished Owari yesterday, so I figure I might write something for this which is relatively fresh on my mind. Honestly, the last two episodes weighed heavily on my score, because really, they were the only good ones. It was certainly interesting to see the various pins which each episode adds to the overall fabric of the saga, but they aren't all that necessary, and the mysteries itself weren't interesting at all. The impression I get is that Nisio needed to tell the Koyomi Dead tale in some way to create a cliffhanger for the series finale in Owari, but had not enough material to stall us for a whole book, so his ingenious decision was to write several unrelated stories, since by now he is so stablished as a cult writer that he can do anything he wants because a big part of his fans is certain to swallow it. The only thing it added was a bit to Sengoku's character (which didn't really made me like her), but Owari did enough to make Koyomi unecessary. Despite having all (most) these characters close to my heart, I really prefer when they do things in order to advance the plot in some way instead of just chatting around, because since SS these conversations unfortunately became more and more lacking of a subject. I don't believe he is just milking it at this point, he seems to really care about those characters, but some aspects of it are obviously just to beat around the bush. Now that we are done with the first part of the story, I really don't know what to expect of this new age of the Monogatari series.

Koyomimonogatari is the weirdest entry thus far for Monogatari. Each episode goes forward in time by about 1 arc, so you start the season with Bake, and end off in the current timeline, with each episode only running 10 mins The first half is snooze-fest short stories that are incredibly forgettable; pretty much filler bits of knowledge that can add depth to the already told stories. Most of these filler bits are incredibly inconsequential, unremarkable and boring, so much so that it takes effort to remember what happened in this half despite watching it 1 day ago. However once you catch up to the main story and season 2 at episode 7, Ougi shows up, and it instantly gets interesting. The season ends off strong too with a really good climax+cliffhanger which was unexpected given the lax, filler nature of the season up to that point. Overall since the beginning is a boring 6-7 out of 10 and the last half is a pretty good 9ish, this is a solid 8

tl;dr: A series of decent but mostly insignificant Monogatari side stories. Koyomimonogatari is a series of half length episodes that take place throughout the series. The majority of them are simply short stories that aren’t that significant. Rather, they just highlight a single trait in a character or tell a small amusing tale with a punchline. None of these stories are that great, but they’re interesting enough and due to the half length to the episodes the pacing is pretty fast so overall I’d say they’re pretty enjoyable. Plus, these stories span the entirety of the series so they’re a nice tangent that goes back through memory lane that allows viewers to see characters from throughout the series and in effect see how they’ve grown over the course of the series. For example, I noticed yet again how much Senjougahara has changed from how she was in the beginning, and I’m baffled on how she changed so much considering it really doesn’t feel like it was really shown at all and happened entirely offscreen. Lastly, I will note that though the majority is just side stories without any significance that you could honestly simply skip without it having any sort of major effect on the narrative, the last two episodes and the last episode especially are incredibly important as they very clearly and explicitly set up where the next season will start. So even if you’re going to skip this for whatever reason, make sure to watch the last two episodes. Each episode uses a different OP corresponding to the character it focuses on and thus it was nice to see a lot of the old OPs again. The ED was original and standard as far as Monogatari goes in terms of style and quality. In terms of production values it felt somewhat weaker than the usual, but I suppose since these are side stories this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

Overall definitely not one of the best monogatari anime series and while all but the last two episodes don’t really do much for the series they are all entertaining and fun to watch. Plus it’s the same unique animation and visuals as the rest of the series and has the same goofy characters and abstract interactions that I love and haven’t consumed much of in the past month or so. Last episode is probably one of the best episodes in any of the series and is one of my favorite. It sets up the next arc very well and I can’t wait to continue.

Koyomimonogatari is essentially a collection of side stories featuring the girls we've met throughout the series. These stories are set in different parts of the story; some taking place near the start of the series, others towards the end of Owaramonogatari Part 1. While it is nice to see some characters we haven't seen in a while, many of these stories are inconsequential. Compared to the rest of Monogatari, this one is probably the weakest. That being said, the last two episodes are essential to the series. I'd give this a 5 but it also is a borderline 6; if any of the episodes aside from the last two have any impact on Owarimonogatari Part 2, then I might give it a higher score after watching it. One saving grace is that the episodes are only around fourteen minutes long. That's still ten fourteen-minute episodes where the stories often revolve around Araragi and his friends/harem vastly overestimating the importance of small things around town. It can take some heavy suspension of disbelief to get through these. Overall, the most important episodes of Koyomimonogatari are the last two. In fact, I might even suggest just watching those and maybe the first two as well to understand the structure of the episodes. If you really love the Monogatari characters, then there's no harm watching the whole thing. I enjoyed seeing some characters who'd fallen by the wayside, even if I thought the episodes themselves weren't much in terms of story, comedy, or drama barring the finale.

As a fan of the Monogatari series, this is most likely my least favorite entry. The direction style, art, soundtrack, and characters are the same ones we have come to know over several seasons, and this is still without a doubt a studio Shaft anime, but the format of this series is different. Monogatari has always been fairly episodic, but Koyomimonogatari, with its 12 minute run time per episode, is in its own league. The timeline of the episodes is not completely chronological, and there is not enough time for events to really build up, so the plot takes a backseat. Each episode is entirely standalone, apart from the last two, so the plot is not continuous enough to leave much of an impact. Most of the episodes can be summed up as a few minutes of problem solving followed by the problem's solution and some light philosophy to wrap it all up. The condensed format did not take away from the usual banter and light philosophy in my opinion though. If you enjoy that part of Monogatari, I think you will enjoy this. Just do not expect a lot of action from it. The season operates in a way that assumes the viewer has seen the previous seasons, and given that this series can be a bit confusing in general, I do not recommend that anyone watch Koyomimonogatari without watching the others first, unless of course being confused is your goal. I'm not sure exactly what the purpose of this brief season was, but it felt like the series was being milked to me. By no means was this a bad show, it just didn't stack up to my expectations.

Not a cornerstone series in the Monogatari archseries and one might think that based off of the title of this anime, that it is centering on the character of Araragi Koyomi, but in hindsight, that is a very linear and very surface level appearance of the anime and it is more than that, it is actually really epithetical of the essence of monogatari which is investigating supernaturalities and anomalies. This is because of what unravels being series of recaps just like previous monogatari series in the form of clips being sprinkled in the events of the this particular monogatari series. To speak more without any spoilage, the arrangement of the events and plot devices within this particular monogatari series is such that Koyomimonogatari versus others is quite emphasizing on the part of contributions to Araragi Koyomi by others characters whilst consolidated each's connections to some supernaturality or anomaly. As a result, the rating of the anime attached to this review is based on its ability to fill in where prevvious monogatari series have not.

It's that time when the non-chronological narrative of the Monogatari series, and the ambiguities and plot holes that come with it, reach a critical level. Even though I watch the series in order, it's incredibly hard to keep track of what's going on or what the status of the characters is. And normally I wouldn't have a problem with that (I'm a huge NGE fan!), but here there's so much of it that I had to watch the last episodes of Koyomimonogatari and Owarimonogatari twice. I've watched it because I want to finish the whole series and see, where it will go, but I really don't know what to think of it.

8.5/10. Short and humorous half-episodes. It follow the general, fun monogatari formula; the plots are episodically and aren’t too complex. It’s just a bunch of stories. Watch it for more of what you already love, the last two episodes will be crucial to the plot that connects Owari. The first half was more humorous and was pretty damn funny. The latter half had a lot of smart behind the scenes explanations; I really enjoyed all the extra screen time from Oshino and Kaiki, and really all the characters. Soundtrack was mainly from the Bake. Pleasant and nothing too thought-provoking. Good watch for some extra backstories or mini side stories

Koyomimonogatari is what I consider to be the skippable filler-season of the Monogatari series. Unlike the more intricate televised seasons, this ONA season consists of much simpler 10-minute long short stories that take place at different parts in the series. While I do think that the more devoted fans will enjoy these cute little side stories and seeing more of their favorite characters, there are only a couple episodes that actually tie to the main overarching narrative. Many of the episodes feel rather pointless. As such, Koyomimonogatari is pretty underwhelming compared to the level of storytelling fans are used to. This entry is definitely for existing fans only who enjoy the less substantive character interactions of the Monogatari series. This is just a side-rant, but the fact that the Blu-Ray for Koyomimonogatari costs 70 dollars is just criminal. I know Aniplex is known for their ridiculous pricing, but for a 12-episode mini-series with 10-minutes per episode, that price tag seems way too steep. Of course, like a sucker I bought it anyway because I happen to love this franchise. Koyomimonogatari recycles its opening themes from previous seasons, which is a shame. They're nostalgic call-backs, but I personally would have liked to see new opening animations. Luckily we get a brand new ending theme, "Whiz", which is awesome. Overall, I'd say that this ONA series is worth watching if you really like the series and don't mind some filler episodes that are light on substance. Just don't expect the same level of story depth as the other entries.

Koyomimonogatari was a fun, although pretty meaningless venture. The small stories that make up this series don't really hold up too well in my opinion (other than the last one), and are mostly just short little bits. Its not amazing, but it isn't really bad either, its a pretty ok out of ten. The whole quick side story nature of Koyomimonogatari was pretty inferior compared to the longer episodes and arcs of the rest of the series. It's really hard to tell a good story when you have ten minutes as opposed to the 1-2 hours you have for your average monogatari arc. The one major exception to this rule is the final story, which is the main reason you need to watch Koyomimonogatari, and was pretty interesting compared with the rest of this series. The way it spans across the entire established timeline up to this point is also pretty fun, and it was nice to see all those old OP's again. The ED was also pretty great (although its not on spotify outside of Japan) and the overall series used the classic songs I've come to love. All-in-all Koyomimonogatari isn't anything too amazing but its still pretty fine.
