I wasn't expecting much going into "Thus Spoke" but I'm happy to say my expectations were for the most part fulfilled. This is a very short OVA series so I'll try to summarize my thoughts in a short manner. Story - 7 TSKR's story goes completely unaffecting the rest of the Jojo canon, so it's easy to see how many fans may have skipped out on it. However, the story is largely focused on local mysteries which surprisingly don't have much to do with stand powers. Art - 10 The art style in each OVA is very reminiscent of Araki's current manga style - from my understanding, these OVAs are adapted from a standalone manga. Araki's current style is by far my favorite of his work, and seeing it in animated form is wonderful. Sound - 7 Not much to talk about here. It's passing, nothing stood out to me but the music fit the vibe of mystery. Character - 7 Aside from the stoic and brave personality of Rohan, not much is introduced here that we haven't already seen in other JoJo archetypes. The runner dude was kind of cool, though. Enjoyment - 8 I had fun watching this bite size trip through the life of Kishibe Rohan. I'm a huge JoJo fan and it was gratifying to see these OVAs come to life.

I can't help but feel that Araki-sensei, the author of Jojo, has a bit of a particular liking for this Rohan character of his. Perhaps it is Araki's way to insert himself as a character in the Jojo universe and have his own adventures. This OVA series contains four individual stories of Rohan, happening shortly after Jojo Part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable. And while it's a different context, it's still the same Jojo vibe and universe. Each of the stories features Rohan in various adventures, as he perpetually looks for inspiration for his manga. Yet the law of attraction between stand users never sleeps, and he ends up again and again in the most bizarre situations. If you've loved the Jojo series, you'll also love this, just like I did.

When I first saw Rohan Kishibe and his Stand, Heaven's Door, in JoJo Part 4, I thought, "This guy sucks!" After that, though, I grew to love him. For that reason, I was very happy to get into the OVAs dedicated to him. I was admittedly a bit disappointed by some elements of it, but it was a very good concept - an "Illustrated Man"-like account of the many experiences of and stories surrounding Rohan's everyday adventures - and I enjoyed it a lot. STORY I very much appreciate Araki delving more into horror for this series, and it makes for some engaging well-executed moments (e.g., the ending of "The Run" and almost the whole of "At a Confessional"). That said, there were other moments that I thought were a bit too ridiculous (e.g., Gunpei's death in "Mutsu-kabe Hill") as well as some hard-to-understand moments (e.g., the ending of "At a Confessional" and the climax of "Millionaire Village"). That said, it was overall presented very well. ART The artstyle across the entire series was great; everything splashed greatly with color. One thing I feel I should bring up that didn't actually bother me so much but may bother others is the inconsistency between each episode's artstyle (as these OVAs were produced over a few years); by "At a Confessional", it appears like something straight out of Part 5 (not a bad thing, again, but possibly jarring). In general, though, the art looked excellent, as JoJo always does. SOUND When beginning the series, I was under the impression that Vic Mignogna was still voicing Rohan, but it was actually another VA, Landon McDonald. It should be obvious why this is the case, but we're not here to talk about that. Landon did an excellent job portraying Rohan if you ask me. Outside of that, though, no new voices stood out to me (although I quite liked Aleks Le's voice for Youma in "The Run"). CHARACTER I think Rohan was the perfect character to base an OVA series around. He did appear quite a bit already in Part 4, but I felt that one could always use more of him. Dare I say, he was even better here than in Part 4. Besides Rohan, all of the characters from Part 4 have good roles here (except for Josuke, who doesn't even say a single word). On the other hand, none of the one-off characters stuck with me. ENJOYMENT Although some aspects of the stories were ridiculous (even for JoJo standards), I still had a great time watching this series. I always particularly looked forward to seeing the other characters at the end of each episode (well, 3 out of 4). CONCLUDING THOUGHTS Overall, I think this OVA series is totally worth a watch. I implore everyone to at least give it a try after finishing Part 4; even if it isn't exactly to your liking, it's a great opportunity to see one of the best characters in Part 4 and a nice anime to watch in one day (even though I didn't do that myself). I do hope they make more episodes someday. Overall rating: 6.7/10

For anyone that doesn’t know, this is a spinoff for Jojo Part Four starring Kishibe Rohan. To be frank this wasn’t a character I was necessarily interested in but decided to check it out anyway since it’s only four episodes. Honestly, it’s pretty fun and while it’s nothing groundbreaking, it doesn’t really need to be. Firstly this has a very different vibe than what your used to when it comes to Jojo. While Jojo revels into the action space more, this deals with more mystery/horror elements which I can appreciate it. Every episode was just fun and never felt boring. This review is going to be pretty short since there isn’t too much to talk about, it being four episodes. If you like the character and want a nice spin on things, I would say this is worth the watch. I mean I’m honestly not the biggest fan of Kishibe but him and his stand going around for new stories was just fun for me and I enjoyed it. Again, nothing ground breaking, but a worthwhile watch nonetheless. Overall Score: 68% on the moist meter 🎨📕🖊️

"goddamn, you see that shit? that was fucking crazy. anyway, i'm kishibe rohan." this is a hell of a fun little miniseries if you like horror, standalone short stories, and rohan in weird gay little outfits. and it is horror! i could find mutsu-kabe hill or the run next to a collection of ito shorts and wouldn't even bat an eye. i love it when araki makes me cringe and feel more dread in a 24 minute animated television episode than like, any given blumhouse film does. personal highlight for me was the running theme of getting really, inconceivably stressed about having to eat food around other people, he's so real for this. kyoka is also incredibly cute.

The character kishibe rohan from jojo bizarre adventure Diamond wa Kudakenai now get his own ovas narrating his bizarre adventures that use as inspiration for his manga, kishibe since his appearing in the series i found him an really interesting and really well rounded character that to me ar least was oustanding from many others of the cast, this time we can get a little more in depth an handful of stories in which our main protagonist is kishibe itselft this time takes the spotlight. To me the atmosphere , direction and the stories were top notch it actually to me was to an certain degree so much more enjoyble that Diamond wa Kudakenai BUT its not the same at his core if we compared both of them, though it still hold the same values. In this ovas we see the stands making his appearances but like i said the misteries and suspense that build up as we move foward in each episode make more than clear that the action its not the main focus and to me here its where the beauty is, kishibe not only in personality but as an protagonist fits perfect for this kind of narrative. Diamond had some hatch of episodes that was to some extend episodic ones while was building the main plot from time to time, and had his own bizarre miteries as we move in the series, but the overall atmosphere that was going for in this case it was different, feels and from the firts episodes i think we can realize that. Im not wanting to trash Diamond wa Kudakenai because that is not my objective i actually like it , just wanted to aclare the differences in between both. The animation was where it was slacking a little per say, sure doesnt looks bad , but i dont know why it felt that was lacking some frames in between to add more movements in some scenes, the quality of the drawing looks really nice though, sound wise has a couple of amaizing track that really sets each situation. The only really negative point that i found to these ovas is that are only 4, when you finish the last one you stay wanting more , for what i have undertand there are still left more one-shots of manga that can be adapted so i really wish this could get fully adapted. RESUME If you so far until now enjoyed each seasons of jojo bizarre this series of ovas doesnt gonna dissapoint even more if you (like me) really liked the character of kishibe rohan in Diamond wa Kudakenai, the only downside of it is that are only 4 of them, you are gonna end up eager for more (which its possible based in the on-shots avaible)

i am a simple woman. i see rohan kishibe and i must consume the media. i have made this man my entire personality and i am simultaneously in love with him. but seriously, this ova is so cool. i honestly found parts of it more bizzare and disturbing than most of the actual anime. i love that it's just rohan telling stories of things that happened to him, from his perspective. i might be biased because im obsessed with rohan and jojos in general but i would definitely reccomend this it was super cool and ive rewatched it a few times

If you liked Rohan from part 4 then this is just some more of him. I would say the 1st 3 episodes are pretty mediocre but the finale episode out of the 4 was a lot better and probably because it was the only one that Araki fully wrote already. I would say you could skip this one if you want but if your bored and waiting for part 6 this could do for now. Not much to say on this one because its soo short and describing everything just takes the fun out of it. I would say I can easily give this a 6/10 nothing crazy but nothing amazing....
