***** REVIEW MAY HAVE SOME MINOR SPOILERS ******* Okay going into this anime I gotta say that the story at the beginning amazed me the characters looked interesting and the overall storyline was great . So of course with the ending of the first season i thought that the sec on is bound to clear some things up and give us the development of the characters that was expected . The first thing that annoyed me is the fact that the first 3-4 episodes were overly repetitive the same dialogues and certain ways of thinking were constantly being shown in a way that was just pure irritating . The fact that all of the characters suddenly forgot what happened in ep 25. and the fact that Rin actually made a step in turning his destinies gave off the vibe that something is bound to change in characters perspectives in the second season . The fact that everyone was so stuck on the fact that he is related to Satan made most of the characters look rather irrational .Moreover when we look past the repetitiveness we can see that there were certain things ( at least to me ) that made no sense what so ever . First the main goals and motives of the villain were not explained i feel like the events were wither too rushed or took too long so the key points were lost. I get that the creators wanted to focus on the background stories of other characters then the main once but the character development could only be seen in Suguro and his 2 sidekicks other than that Rin found out that he now can control the flames but other than that he remained the same . In the last episode they present another '' grand enigma plan " which is I guess the material for 3rd season but again the whole point of the series was all in all unclear . I hope that if the creators decide to make the 3rd season they can bring back at least the part of the enthusiasm shown in the first season and finally give some answers as to : What is exactly Yukio ? Rin and the growth of his ( how will he reach the title of paladin ? ) . What is the plan in which Rin is involved ? Vatican's objective ? What is with Satan and why don't the characters at least conceder the Satan's ideal world and so on .

The only thing I feel is disappointment. Like I watched the first season and then, the second, and I truly expected more. I feel like they could have done much more with the story, but they really didn't. I also hate almost every character on the show, like literally, almost everyone mistreated Rin in some sort of way and it's so annoying, it isn't even funny nor does it help the story at all, it just makes the viewer feel annoyed honestly. Like, going back, Rin just discovered he's the son of a demon, his father died and everyone has been lying to him almost all of his life. Then, when everyone discovers he's a demon, people reject him and fear him, even his own little brother. It's just plain sad and I didn't like seeing that. Also, last season, the characters supposedly resolved all their issues with Rin, but this season, it all came back and it's just sad. Nobody even tries to comprehend Rin and just rejects him and makes him feel bad about things he didn't even do. For me, it would have been better to talk about Yukio's personality and give more depth to his character, because there was more to him than they showed on the anime (although he is a piece of sh-t). At this point, I found more interesting the side characters than the main ones, like the only ones I actually like on this show are Rin, Shura, and Izumo, because everyone is plain annoying. Also, I'm tired of people using Rin for their own agenda, like what... He's just being used by everyone who sees him and it's annoying. I also feel that we haven't gotten to a point with what Mephisto wants to do, honestly, there isn't something that makes me attracted to keep reading/watching this story. I'm going to read the manga to see if it's better, but honestly, this is disappointing.

Ao no Exorcist was a very mediocre show it has nothing really to make it stand out and be a great show. The story was decent nothing too complicated but nothing too interesting either. The minor villains weren't really that interesting or rememberable (The finale might've been the only rememberable thing). I do feel like the duality of the brothers Rin Okumura and Yukio Okumura was very well made. I liked to see the interactions had with each other since they were opposites in personality. I also do like all of the other characters such as Rin's friends they do provide a well needed comic relief. I think that this show isn't really worth it to watch because there are much better 1 season animes to watch that will actually stick with you. I would not recommend Ao no Exorcist.

The manga was really good and I was excited when I found out it had an anime adaptation, however, I was disappointed, to say the least, due to the poor animation quality and mediocre soundtrack. Not to say that this season was bad, in fact, it's ten times better than the first and that is because it stuck to the source material. Maybe if this anime was animated by another studio, I would have given it a higher rating. I do recommend this to anyone who has seen season one but to those who haven't and are trying to get into it, I'd say, don't waste your time, read the manga.

Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen (2017) A continuation of sorts to the first season with a replacement of the events around about episode 16 and 17 with a more expansive story. Based on that they have only just found out about Rin's powers leaving most of the group scared of him with some exception. Rin must prove to everyone he is not bad whilst also preparing to take on a deadly foe. Art Same as before. Slightly more refined in areas so ultimately as great. Sound Epic as before and done really well. Me & Creed is a new favourite song for me. Characters Rin gets more development in the sense that some of the events in the first series either haven't happened or are playing out differently. Yukio is going down a dark path it feels in his future. He is developed more but is still a confusing character. The main group all develop steadily with Shiemi near the end doing something brutal to Rin which we can only pray for resolution of a fallen brother if you get the drift. That said I am still absolutely on team Izumo. We get some new characters in the Kyoto area to do with the sect of the area including a set of passive aggressive sisters in their trio are pretty cute. Enjoyment This is enjoyable. Although I did love how the season 1 ended I do appreciate this one too. It has more of a feel good factor and leaves a bit less of a cliff hanger and could be ended here nicely if a season 3 doesn't come along. Love seeing Kuro in giant cat form too. The marriage situation towards the end was so obvious but I am so glad it happened because they suit each other. Overall Another great season with a great set of unexpected situations within the expected story line. Some nice revelations and happenings make it joyous to watch. Would definitely recommend and hope for a new season to continue. Shall be reading the manga for sure.

Whether it’s a book, a movie or an anime, I always love it when there’s supernatural theme in them. So after crying my eyes out watching Your Lie in April, I decided to look for some supernatural anime and tadah! I came across Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist). It’s honestly my first time hearing about this anime so I don’t really know what to expect. But when I watched its very first episode, I was really surprised how it easily captured my attention. As usual, for this review, I am going to break up my thoughts through the following points: Plot I absolutely LOVE the plot plus I love that it was straight to the point and gave me what I wanted. There’s no dilly dallying and Blue Exorcist gave me action as early as its first episode. We can already guess that this anime is going to include some praying and chanting so I kind of anticipated some boring chanting scenes in this anime, but surprise, there’s none. There was obviously some chanting and reference about Vatican and church and things like that, but for me I guess that made this anime even more interesting. Plus the exorcists here we’re kind of badass, *wink. There are only 12 episodes in each season but it felt enough for me to get to know the important characters especially, Rin. Personally, I prefer season 1 from season 2. The second season was kind of a letdown for me, there’s some slight difference from the first season plus I wasn’t a fan of the drama. But it was still a decent watch though, plus the final episode was really cute. Characters I absolutely love the main character. It also didn’t help that he has a twin brother (I’m a sucker for twins!) but unlike him, didn’t inherit their father’s power until on the last few episodes in season 1. The character development was good too and I love seeing how Rin is improving in controlling his power. He’s troublesome alright, but he genuinely like to help everyone and doesn’t want anyone to get hurt. His twin brother on the other hand is alright. Well, he was actually alright in the first season but he started to get under my nerves in the second season. His issues are warranted but it’s just annoying to watch, that’s all. And speaking of annoying, there’s this 1 particular character that I learned to hate when I watch season 2. She’s so annoying that I just mentally erased her entire existence in this anime, haha lol. Excluding her, I actually think that Blue Exorcist has some great character line-up plus I love Kuro! Animation/Graphics I absolutely love the animation and think it was of high quality. From facial expressions to background scenery, everything is just so pleasing to look at plus the character designs are also excellent. The animation studio should be proud of their work in this anime. Soundtrack The first time I heard Blue Exorcist’s OP and ED songs, I didn’t instantly became a fan. But as I get to listen to them everytime I watch a new episode, I learned to really appreciate the music. I guess you could say that it’s one of those that gets better everytime you hear them, *wink. Plus, didn’t I tell you that Blue Exorcist is one of those rare anime that I watch from the very beginning ‘til its closing song in every episode? So yep, I guess that speaks a lot from this anime eh? Voice Actors I actually don’t have any complaints at all. I think the voice actors were able to portray each character so well, there’s no need for me to elaborate more eh? Overall Despite the letdown in season 2, overall, Blue Exorcist is still a very enjoyable watch for me. Haven’t read the manga counterpart yet but I’ve been hearing that it suffered from the usual adaptation pains, with a rushed ending and lack of power development which is quite unfortunate but luckily not enough to ruin the experience. It may not have reached greatness, I still think that Blue Exorcist is a good series to watch. Rating: 8/10 – Very Good Movie – I’ve seen it right after watching the first season and some may say it was more of the same but I genuinely enjoyed it. If you liked Blue Exorcist, be sure to check out the movie once you finish the series, *wink.

Boy oh boy will this season be confusing if you didn't read up on the manga. Here's the thing: the first season's technical non-canon conclusion was better to me than this whole second season. I really wanted to see where the story was going to go from the end of season one. That being said, this season was still very good. I just wish it had been placed prior to the story of season one so that we could've had the best of both worlds. Nonetheless, some of the threads I loved in the final episodes of the first season seem like they'll be touched on in the third season (like Yukio's character development and Rin and Shiemi's relationship), which is nice. Overall, I look forward to what's to come.

((I have marked sections that have spoilers and which do not have spoilers read at your own risk)) Very excited to see a second season of Blue Exorcist. I have no read the manga, but have only watched both seasons 1 and 2 and here is my full review. Apparently this season takes place after episode 17 in season 1, and everything after that was filler, filler that I quite enjoyed and wrapped up the season quite nicely, the anime follows the manga very closely besides that. Season 2 is a full manga adaptation. Art 10/10 *Spoiler free* The animation quality from the 2011 season 1 to the 2017 season 2 looks improved with detail, you can see blush on the character's noses that didn't exist in the first season, and you can see that in a few flashbacks, during the first couple of episodes. Story 10/10 *Spoilers* I enjoyed the story, and we learn more about Bon and his friends characters are more developed in this season from the first season. Also Rin Okumura learns to control his blue flames in this season. In season 1 he was still trying to master them, throughout the final episode of season 1. We learn that Mephisto is still plotting at the end and there is a hint if there is a Season 3 we could learn more about Takara who I am interested in, he hasn't done anything in both seasons, but recite a quote which raises more questions about him. Also Mephisto also recites a strange quote near the end of the fight of the impure king, notice a theme? Sound 10/10 *Spoiler free* It's the same from season 1, and it isn't bad. I enjoyed the rock track near the end of the season, that was also in season 1. Character 10/10 *Spoilers* I enjoyed the new villains, and how the villain was similar to Yukio even though Yukio denied it. We learn that Yukio does hate himself. The Impure King reminded me of a villain from Naruto. I enjoyed Mamushi Houjou's character design and her purpose she controlled snakes! Enjoyment 10/10 *Spoiler free* I enjoyed this. Overall 10/10 *Spoilers-minor* YES PLEASE WATCH THIS AND SEASON 1 TOO. If you enjoyed the first season and wish to follow the character's stories even more I recommend this season, it has lots of action and development. I hope there is a season 3 soon so we can learn more about what Mephisto is planning and the rest of Blue Exorcist.

FIRST THINGS FIRST THIS DOES NOT CONTINUES ON SEASON 1!!! I was confused as hell. I didn't wanted to read more reviews about season 2 due spoilers, but the first few episodes I didn't understand at all, so my focus was more in trying to figure out what the hell is happening. When I finally realized that the ending of season 1 never happened I started to notice how bad season 2 was. Story: Apparently this season is true to the manga. That's not a problem, but I wished they just continued with the story, because some quotes were being repeated in in such a cringey way. Also because you know how season 1 ends, it really spoils a lot of things for season 2. The plot of the story is not bad, but the ambiance is very different from season 1, The overlap between them can be clearly seen. Character: What I liked about season 1 was the brotherbond between Rin and Yukio. In season 2, their bond seems really off. It focusses a lot on Yukio's resentment towards Rin, which you barely saw in season 1. In season 2 they do show more personality of the supporting characters, but somehow managed to make Rin waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheesier. Like they didn't put enough effort in him but more on the others. Overall, I did not enjoy this season as much as season 1. Purely because the transition between the two seasons was not smoothly. I also didn't liked how they portrayed Rin. It looked like he was a supporting character. It's not worth the watch. If you're satisfied with season 1, then keep it that way.

[Minor Spoilers Ahead] Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen (Which I will refer to as BE2 from now on) is a sequel done right in my opinion. They took the ideas from the original, and just improved upon them all-round. Rin, while still being juvenile, is a lot more fun this time around. With his dialogue written more like a confused teen then an angry 8 year old. They've trimmed back the amount of characters, but in return given them all little subplots in the final 5 episodes. In works out well in the end. The main story is actually quite good, despite turning to sequel bait near the end. It feels much more well paced then the original, which felt like it was trying to fit 60 episodes into 24. BE2 otherwise felt like part of the original series. The animation and voice acting all matched perfectly, and everything was really the same. If you enjoyed the first season, which I did, you're going to enjoy this aswell, maybe even more. If you didn't, I'm sorry to say you're probably not going to change your mind. I'd advise against starting with this, however, as very little is explained, and it's presumed you watched the first season beforehand.
puppetmaster123
It feels like a long intro arc into the main story with characters re-unlocking powers or getting new ones but then it ends. It makes sense with the timeline but very unsatisfying with no closure which will make you wonder why they chose this as a story and the story just sucks in general. Rin's friends and family feel like they are in the way of the story rather than adding to it. The only emotional thing you will feel is sadness realizing this is probably it for exorcist. Exorcist first season was created and introduced us to a new world but this failed to expand on it and brought us to a pointless story with a message of friendship

Spoilers ahead I was waiting for the second session for a long time with high hope but it didn't give any. I am not saying it is bad, but average. Average is ok because it not bad but it doesn't give the impact like the second session was awesome. It was more like a filler episode then continuing the main story. The characters were not reletable to me, especially Shiemi Moriyama was so unrealistic and not enjoyable. I understand that they tried to make her like cute girly kind of character but it didn't work for me. It's just my opinion. The final battle was not even nice. It was like normal boss fight. When i say Normal, i don't mean it is bad and also i don't mean great. It is 2017 and only something new and exciting will make us enjoy, if the same old similar stories try to continue it will not give a impact to the audience. Even then i recommend it ... Art - Anime is always good at art.. So awesome japan

So I complained a lot about the first season, but this one wasn't bad at all regarding it's accuracy to the manga. This arc was a good arc, the only thing that was a bit annoying was the very dramatic use of the power of friendship trope near the end. Yeah this series isn't my favorite, I like the characters a lot, but the storyline isn't the most amazing thing in the world, it's just that season 1 made me so mad because of that ridiculous ending. But anyways I have no complaints with season 2 regarding that, so yeah thats all I gotta say.

(Reviewing both seasons) Blue exorcist is the epitome of mediocre. I was drawn to the show via the premise. Demons are often used in Anime as an enemy group, but very seldom do anime tie that in with religion and specifically Christianity/Catholicism. I quite like history and topics related to this (Dantes inferno, Renaissance paintings, etc.) However, blue exorcist is a complete let down. The main reason being that the show has nothing particularly noteworthy, especially the story. -Story: 4/10, The story uses the "Fight of the week" style progression which bores me to death. Easy to follow true, but lacking in complexity and depth. Predictable, Unintuitive, and Slow. -Art: 5/10, Typical mid to late 2000s shounen art, need I say more? Its not bad, but I cant give it a good score if it is just average -Sound 5/10, Again, typical. I'm willing to give it more leniency depending on preference, and the fact that I'm basically tone deaf. However, the sound in Blue Exorcist makes me think the audio team just downloaded the first free "Swords Clashing" or "Fireball" sound they could find. Also the OSTs were terrible, I try and listen to the OST every episode of every anime I watch, but for this show it was a definite skip after the first two listens -Character: 4/10, Second worst aspect of the show. All but a few lack depth whatsoever, and their motives are rarely explained, and in the case they are explained its often confusing and ridiculous. I feel like characters having goals provides more light into them. I counted two that had thoroughly explained goals -Enjoyment, 5/10: The concept was the tugboat that pulled this sinking ship to shore. I enjoyed watching the show at its peaks, enough to not make want the episode to be over so I could get back to my day at least. If you enjoy the concept of the show I assume it will also pull you along Overall I give the show 5/10. Boring, Mediocre and, seemingly low effort. If you told me the show was an Animation student's grad project I wouldn't doubt you for a second. If you enjoy constantly wanting to look at your phone for 20 minutes, but convincing yourself not to because you need to pay attention to the show, this is for you. I have higher expectations for the next season(s) of the show. If the mangaka hadn't perfected his craft when he wrote this story arcs, then I'm willing to forgive and forget. The show has so much potential to be something much more, something I'm excited to watch. Until then, no thanks 5/10

For me, Season 2 is quite good. For me, the quality of the animation is great too. The character faces are really handsome and beautiful. I love the action. It backs to the original story and has a smooth storyline transition. I really enjoyed it overall! I hope season 3 for Ao no Exorcist. If you haven't even read this manga, I recommend you to read it. Hope you all enjoy the anime and manga as well. I score the story for the manga is 10 out of 10! Sorry for my bad English. Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys! Happy watching guys!

Picking up where the original series diverged from the manga, Kyoto Saga manages to remaster my interest in the series ENTIRELY. While at first, I was content with the first series ending, watching this and reading the manga past changed my view of it. This brings back all of the dropped character developments and rehashes that occurred in the first series and sets itself back on the right path to potentially continue to bring the manga to an animated light. The only downside to this series is that it does not make it obvious to an outside viewer that it follows the manga instead of the anime. It gives an idea of where it leaves off from the original series thanks to a few flashbacks, however, it is not clear enough and left a confusing taste in my mouth. It's also not clear that the rest of the first series is no longer "canon", which again left it a wee bit confusing.

WARNING: There may be minor spoilers. *** I enjoyed the Kyoto Saga. It has high stakes, decent character drama, and awesome battle moments. The way it addressed Rin and his friends' strained relationship due to the discovery that the former is the son of Satan was well done. I can't help but root for Rin while at the same time understand where the others are coming from. As a result, I hoped the they can resolve it somehow. Yukio's character arc was also great to watch. That bring said, if I take the first season into account then the Kyoto Saga feels disjointed or out of place. For context, the first season strayed from the manga since the characters discovered Rin's connection with Satan. The deviated anime version isn't bad, but the ending is pretty unsatisfying. The Kyoto Saga, on the other hand, is based on the manga and what's supposed to happen after Rin's identity as the son of Satan is revealed. As a result, it not only feel like an alternate universe but it doesn't add anything new to build up what's shown since season 1. Another issue with the Kyoto Saga is that it brought up mysteries and foreshadowing that requires the viewer to either hope that a new season would come up to reveal them or buy the manga. That being said, the anime is enjoyable. While it will not answer the clues it brought up, it nonetheless ended in a positive note. The animation and artwork are as superb and the OST is a smashing hit. The OP in particular is my favorite out of all the Blue Exorcist OPs. Kyoto Saga is not perfect, but it's an enjoyable ride as long as you watch season 1 first for context and cut the second half of it from your mind so that you can piece season 1 and the Kyoto Saga together into something cohesive.
madmojoman
It is very much a kids show with a really excitable main character who does not really achieve much but sneakily gets the right skillset off screen and then saves the day...kind of. The art shows its age and the randomly weaved in CGI is shabby at best. The soundtrack is solid, not quite on FMA level but solid nonetheless. The main selling point is the fan service aspect in Shura and the rare time when the main character is presented using some unorthodox thinking to solve certain situations. Warning! With the above in mind Rin can be excessively dumb. If you are looking for an action anime or fantasy, there are better titles out there, especially as far as the maturity of the content is concerned.
beaverofpeeps
For starters, this season, as I will call it, was very short. Where the original anime was 25 episodes, this one was a sad 12. In the original series we went through several arks. In this series we went through 1 very drawn out ark. This made me quite sad. Now, they made it seem as if the final episode of the previous season did not exist, which is fine, but they made the season that many people (including myself) had been waiting for only 12 episodes. Now, I went and waited 2 weeks before realizing the season had ended on a pretty terrible note. I was hoping that the season was going to be continued this "season", Spring 2017, but nope. I just hope that season 2 for the other shows are not as bad. They did do one thing right. They updated the art. The art was already beautiful. The flames, which were already beautiful, became even more beautiful. They changed Rins' face up a bit, but that could just be not seeing the first season in 2 weeks. I am just incredibly disappointed.

Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen, a season that reconnects with the manga. I find that this second season is slightly better than the first season. It's always a pleasure to find the protagonists of the series, even if I admit that it's not easy to follow from episode 17 of the first season while knowing the filler episodes. But I quickly got used to it. On the other hand, Shiemi Moriyama is still quite annoying. The animation and character design evolve and remain pleasant and enjoyable to watch. In terms of the soundtrack, I love the opening even if I prefer the opening of the first season. The ending is magnificent and the OST is consistently good. In short, this season is always a pleasure to follow!
