I think the most important thing to explain about this anime is the format it takes. The show is split into three arcs at four episodes a piece with each arc representing a different continuity where the main character ends up with different girls. What I liked about the show: The format of the show was a breath of fresh air for me. After watching other romance animes it's nice seeing a show that explores all the options the main character has. Speaking personally, I've seen other romance shows where you know who the main character is going to pair up with and while you may wish for him to be with another character to see that relationship develop it ends up being all for naught. This show is good for those that feel similar in that regard of wanting to see the main character with some of the other heroine options he has and seeing how those relationships develop. I also liked the drawing for the characters. Each heroine has her own look and feel to help distinguish them and I like the individuality. The music was good. The opening and ending tracks were nice to listen to but nothing to write home about either. The individuality of each ending track corresponding to the girl the arc was focused on was a nice touch. What I didn't like about the show: While the format of the show was a breath of fresh air it also worked against it considering you only had 12 episodes to work with. Since each arc is only 4 episodes long you have to build the relationships up very quickly. Most of what you end up see is pre-relationship feelings that climax with the two either coming together or not and then a time-skip showing how they progressed. This personally left me with a feeling of wanting more from some arcs and not being fully invested in the relationships as they developed. I would've loved to see the show have more episodes so that each relationship had a bit more time to develop and you more reason to be invested.

TL;DR: No real depth but likeable characters, if you want some short cute romance, watch it. Seiren explores 3 different scenarios all revolving around the same male character, so instead of some Harem or love-rivalry, it shows you how it could play out with each of them separately. Now, that of course means that there is not much time to explore the characters themselves, but nonetheless I found every one of them to be quite likeable. After all, I don't see the reason why a story revolving around romance should always contain characters with some crazy backstory, looks or personality. Most people are absolutely normal and not standing out, so shouldn't that be something many people can relate to? None of the girls were like completely crazy over him, and he wasn't depicted as a stuttering pussy who can't say a word around girls either. He's an ordinary guy, a bit shy in some aspects but takes action when it's needed. The girls and the way the 3 arcs play out are pretty different, made it interesting imo. Overall it builds up a nice atmosphere if you just want to see some romantic development between people without much drama or tragedy attached to it, and without much depth to think about. Shut down the brain and enjoy. All 3 arcs also show their future, jumping 5 / 10 years into the future at the end of their final episodes, basically giving you 3 happy endings in one show.

I get why this anime isn't universally beloved, but I seriously don't understand why it gets so much hate. Maybe I was just in the perfect mood to watch it, but i found it to be very enjoyable despite it's downsides. It has a better than average soundtrack and about what you would expect from the genre as far a animation goes. What makes it really great to me is that the jokes are few, but often times they hit like a ton of bricks and they are extremely memorable. I doubt anybody who ever watched this show is going to forget that scene inspired by "The Ring" or the bath scene i the first chapter. Speaking of that, the biggest downside of the anime by far is the ending of the first chapter. Everybody knows Tsuneki is best girl, but the anime doesn't treat her like the top-tier waifu that she is! Another big problem is that the side characters are for the most part utterly boring. Other than that though, it's a decent anime. Nothing anywhere near as low as a 3.

Guys, I'm gonna tell the truth. This anime is very good, and I recommend this to you guys. I believe that those people don't have the right to insult this anime. If they think its bad, say nothing. Like, I've been watching anime for years now. In my opinion, I think that you have to watch more anime to understand what is it actually like, for example, when I first watched 'Relife' for the first time, I was bored in the first 5 episodes. But after some years, I watched it and it was fantastic like best ending ever. So what I'm trying to say is that we have different mind/anime sets, and when years have passed, we would change our thoughts of it. (HAVING MORE EXPERIENCE DOES MATTER IN ANIME)................

To me, this is one example of a high school story that could have based in real events. Given its a story about 3 different girls, the character development needs to happen fast, but it is done in such a way that it doesn't feel rushed. You can see why they all grow closer. The main character is likable because it's not a total wimp. Many of these kinds of Anime have male characters that are incapable of moving the story forward on their own and it annoys me. One of the things I like the most was the peek into the future after each girl's arch. It was a very nice touch. In the end, I thought it was a very balanced show. Very well animated, characters I think could exist in real life and a likeable lead. Lengthwise it's short enough to still see the character development and not long enough to see filler episodes without any kind of substance.

Seiren is a spiritual successor to Amagami SS, and holds many similarities. It features a male Japanese high school student who meets a series of girls and establishes formal relationships with them, with different episodes dedicated to different arcs, much like a Visual Novel (which Amagami was, but Seiren is an original work). Due to the fact that it was released in 2017, the animation and sound are much better than its 2010 counterpart. Its characters, however, which were what made Amagami the hit that it was, fall short. The 12 episodes of Seiren are divided into 3 arcs, 4 episodes each. They belong to Hikari Tsuneki, a cheerful tsundere, Toru Miyamae, a quiet but passionate girl with an interest in video games, and Kyoko Tono, a childhood friend of Shoichi (the main character) with a rather childlike personality, and the 3 girls have their arcs given in this respective order. Hikari's arc was very strong, and when I first saw it, I had high hopes for Seiren, thinking it'd be of equal quality to Amagami, a show I hold dear to my heart. After her arc ends, it really doesn't warrant watching because the other girls are too uninteresting to keep me interested, and, due to the genre, it has no redeeming factors as a result of this. At the end of the day, Seiren isn't a Birdemic, but it really wasn't what I thought it would be. None of the side characters are note-worthy, and neither are all but one of the main ones, which is a strong disappointment considering how memorable Amagami was. It's not bad, but I would have greatly preferred a season 3 to Amagami.

Hi, here's another review, I just completed watching the anime, and I'll tell you my conclusion here. This review will have spoilers, although I doubt it matters, but you never know, but I already said it. Music As for music, I really do not remember anything except the OP. I think it's monotome in general, except the OP, I love it ... unlike other romance anime, that fill the OP of hearts, to make you vomit .... I really liked the OP of Seiren, .. has that Romance effect cute and melancholy. Strokes and drawing As for the art of drawing, I liked that the characters have different features to that of other animes, there were areas that seemed to be drawn quickly and a bit neglected, but they were generally not good. I do not say more, because this point is very subjective. Characters and history As for the protagonists, the one that I loved most was Tsuneki, like most, his personality makes you enjoy the "arc of Tsuneki" has a personality more worked. Although the conclusion is daunting, (unlike the other 2) I guess they wanted it. Tooru, on the other hand, seemed more unreal and complex,. I know a lot of gamer girls, from amateur to professional, and even so, the character of Tooru, looks pretty unreal, something that is very shocking after Tsuneki, but what I really think was wrong here, is that the complex personality of Tooru , It needs more than 4 chapters to develop, everything was very fast and incongruous in this arc. She is very shy, unlike the other two girls (Tsuneki and Kyouko), so you have to give her more time to get things done. I think that forced her personality, so that its history reaches into 4 chapters. As for Kyouko, it is true that his character is generic in several anime, but I seemed, very tender the "Arc of Kyouko", was predictable, but tender. The youngest girl, whom you have to protect because of her lack of maturity. As for Shouichi, his opaque personality seemed to me okay, .. WHY? ... because Seiren is an anime style "adaptation of romantic Visual Novel". And several guys feel that they "are in the place of Shouichi", it is for this reason that their personality is opaque. But this leaves out, the guys with strong personality, (who have seen this anime) .. if unfortunately it is so, and surely they hate the personality of Shouichi. --------- In if I do not call much attention to "Romances for Arcs" because they involve many emotions, which are truncated at the start of a new Arc, and that to me is very tiring. But hey, that's part of it. The worst of Seiren, in my opinion, are all fucking fetishes, which seemingly integrate all animes Shounen and Seinen of romance. That is, I am also a boy of 20 and a little more, and I also like the scenes risque, like the upskirts, attractive girls, and situations like that, in the anime. But to put so many disgusting fetishes and banned parafilias (referring to lolicon, etc, ....), just because yes, I think that ruin any Anime. It becomes vomiting, I think I speak in the name of the vast majority of guys who see anime "romance, or harem", that this is disgusting, I do not know what shit happens with Japan. Let's be honest, we are men, and we like girls, and see anime with pretty girls, and comic and perverted situations, but there is a limit. And that's why I say: I do not know what the fuck happens to Japan. The best I would say, is the romantic setting (excluding the above), especially the first 4 episodes. Anyway, it is not an anime to see again, because you are enchanted with the story and want to repeat it ... Since it sins of the same as the horror films of USA., "Terror, .. terror .. terror ... pornographic scene that ruins the story and plot. " I would have preferred 3 romantic arches, with better developed history. Which is what Seiren painted at first. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

Okay so I am writing this while I let the last episode load up. Seiren is one of those hidden gems in the romance genre. With a low score of 6.33 (20170619), my best guess is that it did not live up to anyone's expectations. However, this is my first time watching a show where the MC develops relationships with 3 different female characters (not a harem) that are 4 episodes each. To summarize it up the MC develops a relationship with a female character to push, encourage and motivate them to better themselves. While the two start off as strangers, the relationship builds and the emotions of love do as well. The greatest strength of Seiren is the development of the female characters. While they are not perfect, the MC helps them strengthen their weaknesses and find their path in life. While the time with each female protagonist is short, Seiren makes good use of that time to develop them. Really my only issue with this show is the MC. The dude is a giant cuck. I am not saying that the MC needs to be all that is man. His lack of development is what brings this show down. I would have liked to seen a more balanced MC. This is the kind of guy that is too good, to the point where it is a fault. While the pure romance genre typically is not something I enjoy, this is one I would highly recommend to others.

Seiren is a Romance Anime that goes through a different path compared to other Romance/Harem Animes. The show goes through 4 episodes dedicated to one of the girls that the MC deals with and it left me with pretty good impressions. Story: 6/10 The story deals with a high school guy named Shouichi who deals with different girls in various timelines. The episodes deal with how he gets to be in a relationship with each girl, which takes, as I mentioned, 4 episodes to show this development. While the formatting of the episodes is something different, there wasn't anything new in terms of character development or massive, plot-changing development. Art: 7/10 The art style was alright, I enjoyed the character designs, even though it isn't the greatest art style I've seen. There was some fanservice that made me groan, but it was tolerable enough for me. Overall, it was pleasing enough for my tastes. Sound: 7/10 The OP and ED were alright, but nothing memorable out of the two, and the songs played in the episodes weren't very memorable. Character: 6/10 The main character is a guy named Shouichi who is your average guy, but only that he's a bit more timid than the average harem MC, as well as he tends to have some odd peverse thoughts (You'll understand this if you see his dream with Hikari). Hikari is pretty much a popular girl who over time warms up to Shouihi (Kinda like a Tsundere) during their timeline, although I felt she was a little too bitchy and spoiled of a character. Tooru is an upperclassmen who spends time playing video games, whether it be in school with friends, in an arcade, or in her house, but she's a friendly person who enjoys the company of others. Finally, Kyouko is the childhood friend and neighbor (if I remember correctly) of Shouichi who is a little naïve, but wants Shouichi to see her as a growing young woman and not as a childhood friend. There are also some characters that were okay, but nothing very noteworthy of them to be mentioned here. Overall, Tooru was my favorite character since I personally could relate to her for the love of video games. Enjoyment: 7/10 I enjoyed the show pretty well, I liked some of the funny scenes in the show, some of the fanservice made me groan, but I thought it was pretty well done for a Romance Anime. The characters could've been fleshed out a little more, but I think they were good enough for my taste. There's nothing really big that changes the genre of Romance, except the format of the episodes, but it was a pretty good anime. This isn't the type of anime for everyone, and I don't recommend it, but I don't think it should be completely avoided. Watch if you want to, but don't expect anything revolutionary to the Romance Anime genre. This is just another anime that views a part of everyday adolescent romance.

I was really anticipating this anime when it was announced. I saw the cover art and was really anticipating some really ecchi stuff which I enjoy (Porn sells). But instead got a bit disappointed with the lack of everything. 6 for the story. Meh rushed because of the constant change of a girlfriend and holy shit shoichi is a tryhard. 8 for the art I mean you cant not love dem thighs 7 for sound opening good nothing else really. 3 for character these were the most shallow, uninteresting ,clichéd and underdeveloped characters ever.Shoichi had NOTHING going for him and he has a boring hairstyle and is just all around annoying weeb. The girls in this series are the same too with a bitch, a shy gamer grill and a childhood friend... Meh still was looking foward to what happends on the end so 8 for enjoyement. 6 overall because sure I was watching the show every week bu still didn't like it that much and wasn't that rememberable after only couple of weeks.

Seiren is one of the two animes of this anime season that are not based off an established source such as a light novel or manga but are rather based on an original story that was created for this anime. Seiren is a romance/ comedy anime itself a genre hybrid that I rarely see in animes. Apart from the genre another reason that this anime drew me in was because of its somewhat unique story structure in that the anime itself is actually three different story arcs that are combined into one anime. Usual practice within not just romance animes but also animes in general is that there will be a main plot with several subplots that are contained within it. The fact that Seiren opted to make use of this approach instead was surprising and made it somewhat unique. Story and setting The story of Seiren revolves around the life of the main character Shouichi Kamita a second-year high school student who is in the middle of preparing for his university entrance exams and the next step in his life. Amid this phase of his life and his upcoming departure from his school life and into higher education begin to think back of the things that he hasn’t managed to do in the past that he may not be able to do when he’s in university because he will be too busy with his studies. Foremost among this is establishing a relationship with a girl that he likes and spending his life with her as they both step into the next part of life. To not have these regrets Shouichi plans to spend his remaining time in high school to not just keep up with his studies but also to enjoy the remaining years of his school year and make some good memories of the relationships that he both established and will establish. As stated earlier Seiren itself a 12 episode or a half season anime makes use of a rather unique story structure in that its self-divided into three different story arcs that form part of the overall plot. Each of these story arcs has its own heroine and each is a self-contained story which means that the events and conclusions of one arc will not spill over the other arc with each new arc rewinding to before the previous arc started. With some exception, each of the heroines are present in each of the arcs along with the support characters that support the arcs main heroine. Seiren has three main heroines so each has a set number of episodes that are assigned to them. I feel that this form of storytelling was unique as it allowed the story to focus on one heroine at a time and allow us as the viewers to see how the relationship between the anime’s respective heroines slowly develop. Shouichi Shouichi voiced by veteran voice actor Atsushi Tamaru of Asterisk wars fame is one of the main characters of the show and is the protagonist of the series. A second-year high school student Shouichi is an earnest, honest and kind person that is nonetheless a bit of a pervert as he often has the tendency to think rather impure thoughts when meeting girls. Despite that Shouichi is a rather down to earth character in that he that he cares about the feelings of others and always consider them before making any rash decisions. Shouichi is also the type of person that would never leave a person that’s in trouble alone and would always try to help them whenever he can. Character wise Shouichi changes quite a bit over all three of the story arcs becoming braver and determined and focused not just on his future but also in trying to understand the feelings that he and the respective heroines have for each other as their relationship changes. As characters go Shouichi was an interesting character in that though he started the series by having a rather bland and care free personality but later developed into a caring and dependable person that was also understanding and kind. The tendency of him to think impure thoughts when he’s with the girls is more comical than serious more so when the respective girl figures out what he’s thinking and punishes him for it. I felt that Atsushi Tamaru did a pretty good job portraying Shouichi. Hikari Hikari voiced by veteran seiyuu Ayane Sakura of Charlotte and Trinity seven fame is one of the main characters of the series and one of the series three heroines. An attractive and somewhat willful girl Hikari is the class idol of class 2-B which is also the class that Shouichi is in. Though Hikari is aware on how pretty she appears to others Hikari isn’t arrogant about it or haughty and indeed Hikari’s personality is the opposite of what a typical class/school idol should be like. Personality wise Hikari is a cheerful, positive and spirited young woman that can given time get along with most people that she can meet. Unlike the typical school idol type of character Hikari has little in the way of ego besides what girls her age would have. Although appearing to enjoy high school life and not appearing to be worried about either her grades or her future it’s the opposite. Below her positive and cheerful personality Hikari really has no idea on what she wants to do in the future and though her grades are average they are not high enough for her parents tastes. As a result, it can be said that Hikari has many worries and problems that normal people would not be able to see due to her cheerful face that she puts up as a shield to protect herself. As members of the same class Hikari and Shouichi do know each other but mostly as people from the same class as neither had the time to really talk to each other and establish a proper friendship. However, it is apparent from early on that Hikari does like to tease Shouichi usually by sitting on his desk when he’s away. Whether this is due to her playful nature or whether it’s just for fun is anyone’s guess. The friendship between the two ultimately start when they both found themselves forced to attend summer classes as both had failed to attain high enough scores in the preceding exams. The process in which the two began to slowly establish their friendships I felt was good as it felt natural and gradual. Because of the friendship and bond that they had managed to forge Shouichi was able to understand some of the insecurities that Hikari felt and help her find something that she likes and use that as a basis for creating her future path. I felt that the romance and the bond that Hikari and Shouichi managed to establish over their arc was well done as it developed from the respect that both have developed for each other as they listened to each other’s problems and helped suggest ways to solve them. I also liked how Hikari’s future was established after an observation and suggestion from Shouichi after seeing her cook just once. All in all, I felt that Ayane Sakura really did a great job portraying Hikari. Tooru Tooru voiced by new seiyuu Shino Shimonji is one of the main characters of the series and one of the three heroines of the series. A third-year student and thus Shouichi’s senpai within the school Toru is a quiet, shy and awkward girl that finds it hard to talk to people that don’t share her interests. Toru is both an avid gamer and an excellent crafter able to create many different types of goods that includes key rings. Toru and Hikari are old friends in that both attended the same middle school and were both avid gamers back in the day however because of their move to high school their relationship soon become more withdrawn. Because of her quiet nature and her rather introverted personality Toru can be hard to know and as a result she is a bit of a loner within her loss with only a handful of friends. In her story arc Toru and Shouichi met by chance and swiftly become friends as they both share a common interest which in this case is in gaming. As a result of the common interest and the easy-going nature of Shouichi and his friends Toru was able to find a place where she could belong and talk to people about things that they both care about. Like the rest of the story arcs Toru has her own problems a…

This is one of those anime that I found on Facebook whose visuals made me want to watch. This I did despite negative reviews. Seiren is a sequel to the anime Amagami SS, which I haven't watched as of this writing. It's said to be similar in format, namely an Omnibus, which is similar to different paths of a visual novel. Each arc, though it has the same characters, is from a different timeline. The MC will end up with a different girl per arc. In the case of Seiren, each arc is made of 4 episodes, so there are three girls in total. It's not actually too bad that I think it's a wasted time. You can be quite amused playing the episodes. But it's not exactly great either. The MC is forgettable. In fairness to it, one of the good things to come from watching it is making me interested in watching other anime that uses the Omnibus format, namely Amagami SS which is said to be more decent. It has a few fanservice, but it's more on innuendo. It's not blatant such as too many boob and panty shots, but it can get steamy. Let me talk a bit about the arcs. Arc 1: Same year as mc. The best girl but with a weak arc. She is the most attractive, but it's ambiguous if she ended up with him or not. The first three episodes are so-so, but I loved the last episode because she had a hot, steamy scene. But this can also be annoying because of the weak mc. This arc deserves 12 episodes to fully flesh out. Arc 2: A year ahead of the mc. The coolest girl you can hang out with. She may have a better figure than the first girl but does not have the same sex appeal. She has the best arc, but it seems that the romance between her and the MC is forced. Arc 3: One year the MC's junior. The cutest girl but her character design is generic. She reminds me too much of Nayuki from Kanon and Akebi from Akebi's Sailor Uniform. Her arc is mediocre but executed so well. It's the only arc that I think is best fit for the 4-episode limit. She has the most chemistry with the MC. As an individual, she is not as great as the first two girls. But if she can vibe well with the MC, it also means that she is the only girl that the MC can realistically handle. Conclusion: It's a so-so-watch but not something that I would caution others not to watch. It's okay to pass the time, but if you are bothered by weak male characters, this is not for you.

It is good and refreshing romance anime!! Three female protagonists have their own attitudes, behaviours and characters. I love how the author match the MC with these three different female protagonists, with different story-telling. The 1st female+MC ending seems "oh okay" but then with the rest 2nd and 3rd female+MC, there you go, happy-ending! The MC not so exaggerates and boring like previous seasons MC, Junichi Tachibana. This one atleast he is improved. I'm type of romance-anime-lover and to be honest this anime deserves 9/10. Overall, I recommend you watch this light-hearted and light-minded anime first for the refreshing/warm up/starter for romance-lovers, then you may proceed watch the Amagami SS and the rest because watching Amagami SS and the rest are tiring and your mind will exhausting (processing this and that) compare to this anime. *Spoiler Warning* So to start this off, I am a bit biased towards the genre that Seiren is considered to be. I am a sucker for romance so this anime was a shot in the face in a way. It's what we would call a multi-timeline "harem". The main character, Kamita, goes through relationship building with multiple female characters. The only issue is, they are all on different timelines, which means the previous relationship encounter never existed when you move to the next arc. This is a recipe for disaster in an anime that is supposed to convey relationships and how they are built. Kamita goes through three 4-episode arcs in which each arc is about a different girl. Each arc is focused on the same exact characters just a different timeline and a different girl that he chooses, but they all still exist together in the same world. Confusing, right? This just sets up a serious issue when you see Kamita build a relationship with a girl and then after the 4th episode of the arc the whole situation never even really existed and is never revisited. This is a mess because a romance is about connecting with the characters and wanting something good for them in the end, but that never surfaces and you are only left empty with this anime. It's one of the biggest contradictions of all time. I will say, the writing is fairly accurate to that of quirky high school students, so that's a plus side. The character development wasn't bad either, which is why the idea of different timelines is even more bothersome. It all seems so useless to even get somewhat attached to a character because you know that none of it will matter in 4 episodes. Also, the best character, Tsuneki, the only one worth mentioning had the most open and empty feeling ending of all the girls. It was very frustrating. Her and Kamita decide not to get together because she wants to go far away for school. She leaves for her culinary arts school, comes back 5 years later to see Kamita, they say hey, and the END. Completely pointless to even show that scene with no implication of anything happening afterwards. It just moves straight on to the other arc like nothing ever happened. Very frustrating as someone who really liked Tsuneki's character. Also, character design was flawed. Every girl that Kamita liked was so similar in physical appearance that it hurt trying to figure out who the hell he was even talking to. Hair color and length were the same. Facial features were way to similar. The only recognizable differences were bust and eye color. It completely takes you out of the moment and just leaves you wanting to see Tsuneki and Kamita's arc continue. Honestly, this could've been a decent anime as it has some relieving comedy and it has decent character development that helps you to actually enjoy the relationship building. If they would've just stuck to a regular harem formula the anime wouldn't have fallen so short. The method of timelines just seems like a way to enjoy a harem without the conflict of the girls fighting over the main character together, but it makes the most important part of romance useless because it throws development out the window after 4 episodes. I don't necessarily recommend this anime. If you are dead set on watching it. Go in with the knowledge that none of the girls will matter in the end and hopefully you can at least get some comical enjoyment and maybe even fawn over some of the cute moments.

It seems unfair to pit Serien against Amagami, given it's ultimately its own show, but since it's a good point of comparison and perspective, I'll do it in this case. Seiren is essentially a continuation of the Amagami SS experience, with its own cast but the same setting, yet it feels lacking in comparison. The pacing of Amagami was fairly fast in order to accommodate the use of different character arcs, yet whether it's Seiren's pacing or just what feels like longer build ups to romantic developments, something about each arc's progression here makes them sort of tedious to watch, in a way. [mild spoilers in this paragraph] As an example, the ending of the first arc subverted the expectations I held of a show succeeding Amagami in that the protagonist and romantic interest did not end up together etc etc, but more than that, their reunion after the typical Amigami-style time skip, usually used to present developments in the characters' relationships later down the line, seemed to instead be used to inspire some vague hope of romance between Shouichi and Hikari, and felt incredibly underwhelming, certainly considering the earlier scenes seemingly building up to some sort of payoff. Amagami had a second season furthering the relationships in the various routes, which felt like a nice bonus, but Seiren is a show that would benefit more fundamentally from something like that, almost needing that kind of development. It's almost a given that an anime revolving around separate short arcs would struggle a little when it comes to fleshing out and developing characters, and this is something that's not only particularly noticeable in Seiren, but also to the detriment of the investment I could find to offer each arc. One thing I'd say is that the animation, maybe more specifically the characters, was pretty good. Characters look like they have a bit of dimension to them, and there's more of a style to them than can be said for other anime, their faces having a slightly 'natural' edge to them, if that makes any sense at all. By and large, Seiren is pretty unspectacular, but if you're not too fussed about character development and just want some short slice of life ish stories to put on, then it might be worth considering. I have to say, though, I'd recommend watching its predecessor first or instead, even if they aren't fully linked, as it tackles the same style, only more effectively.

Right, let's get straight to the point here. It's a very forgetful anime. I watched this about a year ago I think, and I can't remember any part of it even when I watch a few clips of it, I don't remember it at all. I only know that I've watched it all the way through because I marked it as watched on my anime list on my phone. I tried rewatching the first episode. Boring. The characters are very plain and have no outstanding features about them. I was getting bored just from watching the first few minutes of it, god knows how I managed to watch it all the way through but after trying to rewatch it, I am glad that I don't remember it. The sound quality is alright I guess. Nothing too good. The art style is quite plain. The characters offer no brightness or refreshment to the boring backgrounds. So yeah, If you wanna watch it, be my guest but in my opinion it lacks a lot of things.

I was expect something similar to Amagami, after knowing there is something related I start the anime right away. The story disappointed me so much that aside from character appearance, I can't find what I like . The story which is the strong part of this type of anime (amagami, photo kanon, etc..) was so unimpressive. What should be best romantic moment, couldn't really give you what you expect. The ending on the first part was also very unimpressed. The animie which released after Amagami should let me see the improvement, yet I couldn't. There were many confusing parts and was kinda only understand if you've played game or read some source before watching. The other woman in the story, which should show some interaction to each other did not appear. If you like sweet, romantic (I mean really romantic) and similar thing like Amagami, you better skip this anime.

A “sequel” divided into routes First, I want to mention something I only discovered while rewatching this anime for this review: Seiren is considered a sort of spiritual successor to Amagami SS, sharing the same universe and even the same school. I say “spiritual” because, despite this connection, there is practically no direct link between the two works. The anime doesn't rely on prior events, doesn't bring back the protagonists from Amagami SS, and, as far as I recall, doesn't even make a point of mentioning characters from the previous series. So, if you, like me, came into Seiren without knowing this, rest assured: there is absolutely no need to watch Amagami SS beforehand. Moving on to the anime itself, one of Seiren’s main features is its route-based structure. Every four episodes, we get a different story that focuses on a specific character and presents a sort of “alternate ending” for the protagonist. It’s a format quite common in works inspired by visual novels, strongly resembling the mechanics of franchises like Fate, where different paths can lead to different developments and conclusions. This structure ends up being both one of the anime’s greatest strengths and one of its limitations. On one hand, Seiren avoids that feeling of the story dragging its feet to get to the next event. Since each route spans only four episodes, the anime has to be relatively direct about the story it wants to tell. Relationships progress quickly, conflicts arise and resolve in a short time, and we soon move on to a new story. This creates a constant sense of novelty and makes it a very easy show to binge-watch. On the other hand, precisely because there is so little time to develop each route, some things happen too fast. Relationships, in particular, can feel like they’ve evolved at an accelerated pace, as the anime has to condense events into a few episodes that could easily fill an entire season. It doesn't quite ruin the experience, but it is noticeable that Seiren could have made better use of some of its characters and situations. Even so, I consider it a good decision that each route focuses almost exclusively on the characters who truly matter to that specific story. Instead of trying to give screen time to the entire cast, the anime directs its efforts toward the current heroine and the development of her relationship with the male lead. This keeps the narrative simple and focused, avoiding the common romance anime trope where numerous secondary characters appear merely to fill space. It is also worth noting that, despite being classified as a romance, Seiren doesn't seem particularly interested in crafting an epic tale or presenting something overly complex. It functions much more like a collection of short romantic stories, each with its own distinct premise and personality. Consequently, depending on the route, you might end up really liking one character while finding another merely average; the experience varies significantly based on how much you connect with each of them. Visually, the animation is average. It isn't impressive or technically memorable, but neither is it problematic. It serves its purpose well and conveys the story without being distracting. The same applies to the audio: while not a standout feature of the production, it works well within the show's scope and complements the scenes without drawing negative attention. Overall, Seiren is a simple, lighthearted, and relatively entertaining anime. It lacks an intricate plot or major twists and likely won't revolutionize your view of the romance genre, but then again, it doesn't seem to aspire to that. Its route-based structure is interesting and helps maintain a good pace, especially for those who prefer shorter stories that don't drag on for dozens of episodes. Despite being a spiritual successor to Amagami SS, Seiren works perfectly as a standalone series. You can start watching it without knowing anything about its predecessor and still follow everything with ease. All in all, it is a middling yet enjoyable experience, worthwhile primarily for those who enjoy this style of visual novel with branching routes. Raiting: 6/10. Visualmente, a animação é mediana.

I watched Seiren. Here are my thoughts: Seiren is the spiritual sequel to Amagami SS. The stories of the two series are apparently unrelated aside from some character cameos. I can't verify this because I've never seen Amagami SS, but I enjoyed Seiren enough to consider picking Amagami up. Seiren is an anime original but it very much feels like a VN adaptation. The 12-episode series is split into thirds, each of which is devoted to one story arc. These story arcs each involve the male MC making a romantic connection with one of the girls in his highschool. Seiren is a romance show and the vast majority of its runtime is devoted to that purpose. The MC is your typical meek spineless loser – this is particularly annoying in this context because he never initiates anything and it's nearly always the actions of the girl that move the scene/plot along. It's hard to get into the romance when the MC has the pickup game of a limp noodle (probably not the only area he doesn't perform in). The writing quality of this anime has prominent highs and lows – there are moments when the show really shines, but also some unnatural awkward-feeling scenes. It can be cringe-inducingly corny. Some of the drama in this is totally banal; entire scenes are devoted to insignificant highschool gossip. The story is sometimes convoluted, hamfisted and dumb. However, I enjoyed the romantic scenarios themselves – they felt natural and organic, as if they were a fond memory of your adolescence. At first glance, Seiren seems like an utterly forgettable garbage anime; my expectations coming in were very low. What surprised me is that the scriptwriting is often exceptionally well done. Although there isn't much explicit nudity, this is a sexually charged show. However, most of that manifests itself through the dialogue. I appreciated that this anime creates eros through the power of suggestion, dialogue and context, rather than lazily relying on sexual visuals like so many other trash anime. In this sense, it is a well-crafted show. Seiren's greatest strength is the way it sets up romantic tension. It doesn't really deliver the goods in terms of romantic climax, but it does an excellent job of teasing you. It does this with minimal use of fanservice and sexual visuals – it's all in the story and dialogue, which is actually quite impressive. The girls are usually wearing these hideous conservative school uniforms, yet the sexual tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife – this speaks to the impressive scriptwriting and direction quality of the series. The romantic scenarios are lifelike and believable – I've found that's fairly rare in anime, so this is noteworthy. To be clear, eros is not the only selling point here – Seiren is also sweet, wholesome and innocent in some ways. I often felt like this anime was cuter moreso than romantic; it has a borderline 'puppy love' feeling. Similarly, Seiren never really delivers romantic climax; it just sets up romantic tension but doesn't follow through. This is hardly uncommon in romance anime, but even so, the lack of satisfaction is palpable for most story arcs, and some viewers may find this disappointing. The visuals in general are low quality. The character animation is pretty bad, and I often felt like the facial expressions lacked detail. However, the character designs are more realistic than typical anime, which I appreciated in this context, although those atrocious pale-yellow sweater vests belong in a tire fire. Similarly, I found the soundtrack to be mediocre and low quality. None of the voice actors impressed me, although some of the character songs are not bad. My overall rating: 7/10 Seiren has many flaws: an annoyingly meek impotent MC, corny dumb storylines, and overall low production quality. Regardless, there are many exceptional romance scenes in here with excellent scriptwriting and tons of intimate tension. Seiren delivers the 'girl-next-door experience' and feels quite lifelike and believable; it is a great adolescent romance simulator.

No spoiler ahead, but a little bit of backstory, and a necessary one before you proceed to watch the series. Let's just say most people rate this anime this low because they are not aware of this, but it is totally understandable, at least to me, because I thought the series did not do enough to address this too. The anime is set to be running in 3 different timelines or universes every 4 eps, in each universe, the protagonist made different decisions and things are different in each universe, and with this piece of information, you should be able to watch this series with less confusion. (you should treat each chapter as individual chapter otherwise this anime will be the worst one, but you should carry forward the information from the previous chapter as you venture into the new one, as there are a lot inside references and joke). I was not sure if I should spend my time on this anime as I saw such low rating, but I was looking for a new series to binge through so I just watch it, and to my surprise, it is pretty good. You will feel emptiness and confusion when you reach the next chapter and I was as confused as well. The anime however should do better at telling viewers this "Multiverse" thing that is a huge thing in this anime. I have not watched a lot of anime as the others did, but I thought Seiren is pretty easy to watch, as there are no big dramas occurring, and everything works out *in each chapter*. It is hard for one to switch from one timeline to another as time goes by, and I guess that is why most people rate this anime this low and it is totally understandable. This review is based on my experience, so different people may feel differently. When they watch anime in this kind of format, I guess anime in this format is not super popular. This anime I believe also referenced a lot of other anime, if you watched a lot of anime, you will probably understand these inside jokes and references better than I do. Overall, this anime is not as bad as the review written, but I should say, if you are not very open to the genre of the harem, and takes these anime too seriously, I advise you not to watch it then, you will hate it. Otherwise, with an open mind to accept the multiverse thing then it is worth a watch.
