Why a full 10? Because I haven't had this much fun watching anime in a long time and unapologetically cool shows make me very happy. It's a break-neck paced medieval mecha anime that doesn't waste any time in getting to the fun and it feels refreshing. Don't look for any character development or complicated sub-plots, this is entirely a 'what if' scenario of what could happen if a gunpla nerd got isekai'd into a fantasy world where magic mecha technology has stagnated for hundreds of years. The story has plenty of developments and never gets boring. You have your friends, your highly entertaining 'you'll rue the day' villains, new mecha nearly every episode and best of all a one-and-done season with a conclusion. There are plenty of references as well, as well as a cheeky remark on how stupid it is to overload your mecha with a bunch of swords and the retort that it's just cooler that way. I'm sure Setsuna "I am Gundam" Seiei would approve. I'm surprised at the negativity of other reviews. These are the sort of people who walk into a butcher's shop and expect to get vegetables :)

This show was an insult to the mecha genre. I've never wanted to punch a main character in the face so badly as much as this one. The best thing to come out of this anime were the robots, which to be fair, had incredible designs and animation. Unfortunately, the awesome mechas are overshadowed by the most annoying characters imaginable to man. I have never had so many migraines while watching a child stomp through adult military personnel with such ease. I understand the appeal of power fantasies, but it is so overblown in this show that I cannot even recall a moment when the protagonists struggled or actually faced off against someone or something they considered an actual threat. Again, I like the mechas, and I thought the action cinematography was adequate. But I just couldn't stand the characters piloting them. Even the supporting characters are forgettable. I can't even name more than one character from this show. The worst part about this show was the main character. Halfway through the show, my hatred was so strong for this character that even the mere presence of them irritated me. I never thought I would get so mad watching a show, but I guess there's a first time for everything. The design of this character is also questionable. There were many opportunities to offer challenges that this MC would face simply because of their physicality, yet those problems are either brushed away or resolved within literally 15 seconds. I myself have no experience when it comes to making a show, but I believe the point of entertainment is to provide enjoyment to its viewers. Shows should make you happy, and in the special case of isekai, even disconnect you from the hardships of reality. But this show somehow just makes me plain angry. I don't even know how I was able to finish it. Maybe I was in such disbelief at how little conflict there was that I made myself think that MAYBE, just MAYBE, the last few episodes may give the protagonists a challenge. Of course, that wasn't the case. I feel like this show can even be an insult to mecha enthusiasts. It's one thing to know your stuff, but it's another to actually be on the field. This MC had so much ease designing and constructing mechas and gaining the trust of adult officials that it is beyond unrealistic. The worst is when this kid pilots a mecha for the first time and does as well as the pilots from Pacific Rim who spent years training. I just didn't get anything out of watching this show. It is an insult to mecha, an insult to isekai, and an insult to its audience. The opening is pretty good, though.

a computer programmer is ieskai by reincarnation into the body of a young noble boy in a world of giant demon beast (monsters) that are fought off with magic and huge robots called knight runners. As a major mecha otaku this cause them to throw himself to magical and combat training so he can pilot on of these robots. this light hearted isekai series with minor drama and darker moments it. it has a one side romance and two beta romances. This is a light hearted with little to no fan service, a high medieval fantasy action/adventure, and minimal political drama with an overpowered ditzy genius mc give this a shot

>>> How was the main character ? ⬤ A reincarnate and a pre-adolescent schooler with high magic stats just like Tanya but with mix of Rimuru and Armin's attitude. This one is even more optimistic and always hyped up. He also doesnt give a shit about the fact that he was reincarnated. I guess it is slightly different than reincarnation, more like he is carrying the will of someone else, instant brain overwrite..poor boy..lol ⬤ Again his gender is open to discussion...Like its not enough he is wearing some type of shoulderless dress, whatever.. >>> How was the world ? ⬤ I liked it. As expected of creators of Slime, theres lots of greenery in K&M world but its also infested by demonic creatures. Humans somehow managed to survive. As the name implies the countries are of medieval western sterotype ⬤ You get to extract stuff from monsters, it is almost like Pacific Rim. >>> How was the side characters ? ⬤ I grew liking to most side characters. They are all serious and assess the situation they are in humanely enough, I enjoyed their screentime. Only the dandere queen made me cringe because she is too dandere!.. >>> How was Fanservice ? ⬤ There was only a side character, no biggie ( I mean they were big...) >>> How was character designs ? ⬤ I was expecting to see some thicc robots like mechwarriors or dreadnoughts which was the reason I hyped. Instead I got to see typical Gundam robots. Thats fine too. At first, the derpy run of robots at the end credits put me off but after few episodes I got used to them. Those robots not only come in humanoid shapes and swords, they also carry wands instead of miniguns! Robots are under constant development which is main point of the anime. The cgi quality was... bearable. It is actually too good for a medicore show. I knew it would happen, digital effects have been the selling point of 8-bit productions so far. ⬤ There are traces of quality drawing but it feels like facial animations lack the required attention and framerate but character designs are nice. As for races we got to see dwarves and elves but they arent of important matter its stil la nice touch to have them. The evil faction also had its own unique hellish design. It kind of reminded me Last Exile for some reason >>> How was pacing ? ⬤ It was fast from the very start. Isekai transformation was already done in first 30 seconds. Then we got to see the main character gradulate through grades rapidly just like Tanya. The constant development of robots and technoogy wars probably kept the tension high. After first half, we were introduced to other good and bad factions. I wouldnt mind fast pacing. This one is a half season anime anyway. >>> How was the plot ? ⬤ I didnt put too much thought on it but I think it has too many plotholes. Im getting "just watch it dammit" vibes from K&M. One of the things I like about this show is that there arent many GAGs which makes the tension of worldbuilding constant. It can be considered a military anime but unlike the most it doesnt involve much drama, not with that happy face...It only involves robots and wands.. >>> How was ending ? [SPOILERS] ⬤ In the end everyone became couples and main character ends the wand wielding robot age and starts spaceship age. I dont know how cheesy it is but I really appreciate that they wrapped it up. >>> What made you watch it ? ⬤ Aside from 2 animes Summer 2019 is a poor season... I needed fillers. Since Knights & Magic is a 8-bit production I wanted to watch it. I even got to hear King Dwargo's voice actor! So it is basically "Reincarnated as a Slime" + "K&M wallpaper" + the cool name "K&M" >>> Do you recommend it ? ⬤ Quality-wise and emotionally, with all the cheap writing it wont give you the same taste compared to hyped seasonal animes with +8.00 score. A medicore anime about Robots and medival stuff. A decent filler, a little escape route for mecha fans and wand lovers. It gets a flashy [[7/10]] !!! If you have too much free time go and watch it. My score: Story: 6/10 Art: 7/10 Sound: 6/10 Character: 5/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Overall: 7/10

In an era were the mech genre has faded and the isekai fantasy genre is thriving here is a show that combines elements of both in order to try and bring a story to watch, emphasis on the word try. The biggest problem this series has it that put to much focus on the mecha enthusiasm and mech action that everything else seems so bland or just average. The Story focuses on our main protagonist a mecha otaku who died and is reincarnated in a fantasy world were giant mechs are used to combat giant beasts that plague the land and using his knowledge from his old world use his knowledge to further improve the current existing technology and to improve and fight them while constantly obsessing about his hobby. That is pretty much the gist of the series, it is a ln adaptation but it is very fast paced that it almost never gives u time to slow down you do not even need to read the original source to realise it is a rushed adaptation, The characters are mostly one dimensional from the side chraacther to the villains who follow stereotypical roles and cliches, however everything is not all bad. The animation is pretty solid especially the cgi mech designs there fluidity is blended well with the traditional animation they make for watch, especially in combat scenes. as i have mentioned anyone who is a big mech fan will truly relate with this series especially the main character and the action scenes make for a great watch and while a lot of the jokes are cliche they can give u a good chuckle and is a good show to watch without thinking to hard. I recommend this series who is either a mech fan or if they want some sold action and battle scenes i give it a 7/10

This is a good overview if you have already read it! It was fun seeing the characters I've come to know and love in action, but it was difficult knowing all that was pushed aside. The book shows depth of character and knowledge of things that you don't even grasp as you watch. Putting my comparisons as a fan aside... This anime focuses on fighting. It masterfully adds in bright and fun characters throughout while hinting at romance but there is no changing the fact that this is over all a mecha. A full-on robots vs. robots. If you are one who enjoys things such as this and doesn't care about going to in depth about the characters, mechanics, or politics then this is certainly something you should be able to enjoy! If you are a fan of the novel/manga I fully intend to steer you away from this anime. It's rushed and, likely, pulls out many of the little things that you love so much about the story you know. OVERALL: Alone, this was a good action mecha anime. As a fan I am disheartened. I hope you fans heed my warning.

This show was a lot of fun to watch. I rated the show based on my enjoyment level, although if you break it down and start analyzing things there are a lot of potential weaknesses. Your enjoyment level will depend on what you're expecting from it. This is a fairly one dimensional kind of series. Genius kid tries to make better and better mechs and gets to test them in battles. Throw in magic and a good dose of humor and blend until well mixed. That's it. If you're looking for depth, character development, plot development, you won't find much. This is about action and humor and pretty much nothing else. For me there was plenty of both to keep me entertained and keep my interest. The art was well done and the animation looked fluid. I Really liked the battles. The characters may not have had any development but they still had personality. FYI I watched the English dubbed version and I liked what the actors did with the characters. This isn't thought provoking or emotionally gripping; it's just meant to be fun.

Please note this review is intended for those that have finished watching Knights & Magic and though great care has been taken to reduce story spoilers there might be spoilers within character and story analysis. What happens when a mecha otaku gets reincarnated in world where mechas really do exist and when his memories and hobbies can be of use in a war between monsters and nations. Knights and Magic is a mecha anime that is based on the light novel of the same name. The anime itself is set in a fantasy world where both magic, monsters and mechas exist. This is a bit unique as most mecha anime’s are set in a science fiction setting. The anime’s overall plot follows the life of Ernesti Echevarria a young noble who was reincarnated from a mecha otaku from the future and his friends as they learn to become knight runners and help protect the country from beasts and hostile nations. As Ernesti grows in skill his intelligence and dedication to the robots would see him forever change the nature of mecha design and combat use in the fantasy world forever. Ernesti Ernesti Echevarria played by veteran seiyuu Rie Takahashi of Re Zero and Battle Girls High School fame is one of the main characters of the series and is the main protagonist of the show. Before his reincarnation into a noble he was originally a talented programmer from the future and a a mecha otaku. In the beginning of the series Ernesti’s initial personality can be described as that of innocent, smart and kind. As Ernesti grows older however and his inborn desire to learn more which is reinforced by his hobby starts to change his personality. While retaining his trademark intelligence and kind nature Ernesti also becomes more motivated, positive and develops a calmness that is rare for someone of his age to have. Ernesti’s personality after meeting with his future best friends Adeltrud and Archid also prompts his personality to change even further becoming kinder, considerate and also more loyal to them. Ernesti because of his unique origin has a number of personal traits that truly define him. The first of these is the fact that since Ernesti’s memories and the skills that he gained in his previous life remain within him he’s able to use this to help him better understand the concepts and knowledge at an astonishing rate. The second is that by using this advanced knowledge Ernesti is easily able to come up with new inventions that includes weapons and armor that this world has not seen before. Arguably the trait that makes Ernesti such a great character and such a fearsome opponent to his enemies is his ability to use his knowledge and memories to not only create new equipment and weapons that no one in this world has seen, but also adapt existing equipment to deal with deal new situations. This shows that not only does he have excellent perception skills but also deduction and problem solving skills as well. A notable trait of Ernesti that is only visible in combat is that he can get rather excitable in combat which I think stems from his dream of becoming a mecha pilot something that I think most fans of mecha anime like myself can relate to. In terms of character development Ernesti as the series advances becomes smarter, and more motivated as previously noted but also becomes somewhat bolder and more willing to take risks something that I did not expect from him given his personality. While certainly smart and brave beyond measure this habit of always wanting to improve his knowledge by putting himself at risk also creates a lot of worry that his friends and comrades have for him and creates one of the few flaws that exist within Ernesti’s personality. A surprising element of Ernesti’s personality that I think really defines him and puts him in good stead in my opinion is the fact that Ernesti has is that Ernesti does not bear any kind of ego or arrogance in him that most inventors have and rather cares little about fame, glory or riches and preferring instead to design new mecha and their equipment and testing them on the field. As a character, I felt that Ernesti was a well-designed one that best showed that might alone does not win battles but creativity and the ability to out think your opponents and pre-empt their moves will. Rie Takahashi I felt really did an excellent job portraying the character of Ernesti. Adeltrud Adeltrud played by veteran seiyuu singer Ayaka Ohashi of Masamune Kun’s Revenge and Re Creator’s fame is one of the main characters of the series and is one of Ernesti’s childhood friends alongside her brother Archid. Adeltrud who due to her long name prefers to be called Addy is a member of a noble house though only in name only and as a result is often looked down upon by others especially by people from other such houses. As a result, the closest relationship that she had in the beginning was with her brother. Initially Addy’s personality was that of a quiet girl that was also guarded around strangers and was not someone that trusted easily. After she met Ernesti however Addy’s true personality began to surface due to the fact that Ernesti treated her and her brother like normal people and didn’t look down on them. Addy’s personality become one that was kind, positive and cheerful but also loyal to Ernesti and her many new friends that she made at the academy. Addy as a result of meeting Ernesti also become quite attached to him and has a tendency of getting jealous when other girls like Stefania her elder sister gets close to him which perhaps indicates that she may have feelings for him. As a result of this Addy can be seen to be very loyal to Ernesti and will do everything in her power to help him even if it meant fighting on the frontlines itself. As a character, I thought that Addy was an interesting character that though mainly limited to a support role did a great job of bringing in some humor to the series. Ayaka Ohashi I felt did a great job portraying the character of Addy. Edgar Edgar voiced by veteran voice actor Yasuaki Takumi is one of the main support characters of the show and is one of Ernesti’s main allies. A veteran pilot that alongside his fellow pilots Dietrich and Helvi were senior students at the academy that Ernesti and his friends attended in the beginning of the series and later joined Ernesti’s new order becoming one of its key members Even before meeting Ernesti Edgar was someone that was noted and seen by many to be an exceptional pilot and seen as a model example of what a knight should be. Personality wise Edgar is a kind, polite and caring person that cares a great deal about his friends and allies whether on the field or not. Unlike most archetypical elite pilots that we see in other forms of media Edgar’s personality is that of a humble person and has little ego that get in his way traits of which allow him to bond easily with people that he meets. Indeed, it is a result of these traits and the respect that he earned that allowed him to meet with the strange kid that was Ernesti on the dawn of their first serious battle in the series. As a knight runner Edgar takes his duty as a defender of the people pretty seriously and will always try to protect those people that are weaker than him a trait that puts him in good stead in my book. Edgar’s most prominent trait that I find the most admirable is trademarked calmness that he displays in battle. Even when confronting the most powerful of enemies or the most unexpected of events Edgar is able to face each situation with calmness analyzing and discerning the best path possible while remaining cautious of what may lie ahead traits that I think are important for any soldier. Yasuaki Takumi I felt really did a great job portraying the character of Edgar and did a great job as acting as the bulwark that the enemy’s tide will break upon. Eleonore Eleonore Miranda Qsperka voiced by veteran seiyuu singer Yukari Tamura of Naruto and Akame ga kill fame is one of the main s…

I've never experienced a show that had so much going for it and fail so miserably. Apparently the source material is amazing, which is why there was a decent amount of hype for this anime, but that makes it all the more confusing as to why this ended up being such a disaster. It did start off okay, and then after 3 or so minutes the story...it just took off. Story: Things happen at such a breakneck speed that you cannot connect or invest any sort of feeling towards what's happening. Ernesti, our leading man, learns everything within seconds. There's no struggle, there's no dramatic storytelling, there's nothing. A problem happens and it gets solved within two seconds of it being revealed. Then the narrator tells us that two months have passed since then. Had they slowed things down, the show would have been better. Art: Best part of the show Sound: Second best part of the show Character Since the story moves at a pace that would make Usain Bolt jealous, you can't really get much of a feel for the characters. Ernesti is the most developed, but even he feels lacking. Everyone has their trope and they stick to it. Things happen to them, but why worry or care when it will be solved within seconds. At this point you might be asking yourself, "MonoJumal, you're exaggerating about the two seconds." But I'm not. Unfortunately, this really ruins the show for me. It has a lot of potential and the source material is good (allegedly), but the studio seemed to care more about the mechs fighting and less about the ways to tell a story.

Knight's & Magic features the combination of technology and magic. Commonly, the intertwining of magic and technology results in contradiction. However, Knight's & Magic is successful in molding the concept of "Magitech". Story - 7/10 Knight's & Magic fits the definition of typical cliche anime. The story is predictable because every plot devices and events are cliche. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike cliche anime. Cliche anime can be great if every detail is conveyed with passion and effort. The production team did an astounding job in transforming dull and cliche event into interesting and mesmerizing event. The pacing of the story is mediocre, not too fast, not too slow. The mediocre pacing is great to introduce the concept of "Magitech". The concept is easy to digest, they are explained in layman language. Unlike some Sci-fi anime the explains Photon Cannon from a scientific perspective, the explanation are simple and easy to understand. However I am not satisfied because I find the explanation to be incomplete and insufficient (Maybe some facts were removed when it was adapted from LN). Art - 10/10 There is nothing much to say about the character design. They are pretty mediocre. As a mecha fanboy, I rate the art to be 10 out of 10. In my opinion, the art is second the Sunrise, the mother of Gundam. The robots design is epic and cool, even cooler when supported with "Magitech" concept. Ikaruga, the edgiest and overpowered robot in the series, revealed in the opening song is the main reason I binge watch the anime. What I was looking forward the most did not let me down. Ahem...going back to the main topic. Although being second to Sunrise, 8bit's design is unique in terms of colour. The blend of colour and colour choice brings out the "personality" of the robots. For example, Ikaruga with bluish-purple frame and golden edges depicts takes the center stage as the overpowered robot (alongside with it's "Magitech" concept). Sound - 5/10 The intro of the opening is ear-catching but is just lost its oomph in the latter half. On the other hand, the ending did not leave much impression. As for the insert song and BGM, they are mediocre too. Well, that is just my taste for music. You, who is reading this review might like the song instead. Character - 6/10 The main character, Ernesti Echevarria is a quick-witted, overpowered, badass and oblivious, the quality we tend to see in cliche anime. There is only one thing that I couldn't stand. He, I repeat, he is a trap. Joining the team of Haku, Totsuka, he is one of the being that has cheated and played with the innocent heart of millions of virgin. Ernesti Echevarria is the reincarnation of a programmer/mecha fanboy that existed in the modern era. After meeting his demise, he is reincarnated in a fantasy world. To my surprise, he inherited the programming thinking and mecha love from his previous life. Perhaps, human nature remains stagnant eventhough we are embarking on a new journey. What he had inherited leads him to take the center stage of the story. The MC steals the spotlight in the anime leaving the lack of characterization in other character. They were introduced superficially and ignored until they are used again as plot device to proceed the story. A twin siblings that has close relationship to with the main character, supposedly to be introduced with more depth as they grow up together with the main character, are nothing but BFF superficially with nothing to back it up. The emphasis on knighthood is lackluster and mundane. It is pretty much a "touch and go" situation. Overall, I rate the anime 7/10. Although I did mention Knight's & Magic is a typical cliche anime, that is not the deciding factor for this anime. The "Magitech" concept and new creations is what you should be looking forward to in the anime.

6/10. Nothing special at best and inoffensive at worst. The premise is the run-of-the-mill isekai slop, though the harping about programming like it’s some superpower and the clear ‘literally me’ MC can get a little eye roll-y. The mech designs, at least are pretty cool and the Ikaruga makes for one of the more memorable things the show has to offer. The episodes blaze by events, often to the story's detriment. But that same fast pacing is a bit of a catch-22. There's never any time to develop strong attachments to anything, nor is there a chance for anything to overstay its welcome or for you to dwell on the show's flaws. The ones who often suffer the most from this are the characters. The cast is so large and events fly by so fast, aside from some notable ones like Dietrich they blend together. Knights & Magic would definitely benefit from reserving some time to focus on some members of the cast more, flesh out their thoughts, their drives, and how they react to the world around them. I am, at the very least, grateful that on the flipside doesn’t ever fall into the trap of an episode-long internal struggle about killing. All this sounds terrible in a vacuum, but it’s really not when you’re experiencing it. It’s just the way the show goes; bouncing between scenes that range from mid to fun. The sort of show that you can sit through in a single sitting and walk away from feeling kind of satisfied but retaining no real lasting impression. Given what the show sets up, there are interesting places it could go by giving the MC a revolutionary rival to help push the bounds of the Silhouette Knights and warfare across the setting, but the season concludes before it can truly enact upon it outside of giving you a taste of it in the final arc. I can honestly recall nothing about the soundtrack. Save Knights & Magic for your mecha binge and give it a watch when you’ve finally worked through the really good stuff and need something to dull the edge before it's time to start dumpster diving.

Another Isekai that involves Mecha but It was short lived for its time. Story Japanese man Salaryman who dies in a car accident and reincarnates as a young boy name Eru in an alternate world where magic and giant robots is the way of a medieval world. He is obsessed with Silhouette Knights that are Giant Robots since childhood and wants to become a designer and build his own Silhouette Knight as a Hobby. He gets his wish and must put his designs and builds to the test against an enemy that threatens the Kingdom.According to a Source. " Knight's & Magic was originally a Web Novel published by Hisago Amazake-no on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō Web Site in October of 2010. By 2016 seven novels had been published with 107 chapters between them. In January 2013 it was made into a Light Novel with six volumes released from 2013 to 2016. In April of 2016 a Manga adaptation of the novels in Square Enix's seinen manga magazine Young Gangan was introduced. " Animation Eight Bit Co., Ltd. which is now own by wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Filmworks best known for animes like Infinite Stratos,That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Blue Lock. At the time of this anime they used 2D and 3D animation while watch this that coloring kind of good and shiny. Music The opening Hello! My World!! is a song by fhána was a nicely down song. The ending song You & I by Ayaka Ohashi It try to hit but miss. Overall Its a good anime, it could've been good the problem was it didn't get much traction for a 13 episode anime that ended in a Cliffhanger which left the anime in Limbo not getting a second season. The rumors has it that they were considering making a second season of this Anime for a long time but it didn't get much attention. I would give this anime 7 but If... it got another season sadly this anime only got 13 episodes. It was entertaining showing really cool mecha and action but it wasn't enough.

The truth is, this show is okay, definitely of 'okay' or 'fine', nothing particularly stands out at all, the core theme is mecha fights, but the mecha fights aren't that intense or have any interesting plot driving it home, very basic overall story, characters, plot, pretty much everything. You 100% know the main character's group will never get defeated in a bad way, even if they lose, everyone stays alive despite being in a war. This can be a good pastime, however as I was watching this, in the back of my mind I thought; why not finish the entire Gundam series instead as it is superior in every way, which is what I am about to do now.

Knight's & Magic If I had to describe the show with one word it would be: Competent The world-building is fundamentally a baseline on how to do a fantasy setting right, everything is correctly built up, we get more than enough info of both the world and the magic-system so it is fully logical, understandable and intriguing. I made fun of the base premise*, but it was an effective and necessary setup for the story to be told this way. The characters are really well done, all have their agencies, several of them have their own arcs, and even their own lives and thinking are completely logical and intelligent so they feel relatable and human, even their flaws come from their base character so even when they fail it is sympathetic. For the plot I just go back to the word of today's review: competent. Sadly, it is mainly the base element I can criticize, especially as it felt like the story, they wanted to tell would've needed more than 13 episodes, but as they only got that many, they tried to cram everything into those 13 episodes, which contributed to a lot of time-skips and rushed plot-lines. The story was kind of predictable for a more experienced eye, but it might just be a routine issue. [When a racer can predict the second half of a racecourse, just by how the 1 half went.] Still, it was really engaging and full of twists and turns that kept the interest always high, with new elements and challenges for our heroes to overcome. To summarize I'd say that competence is the main element, but it does feel as if it was written by an AI. Everything is designed to a mastered textbook level, but there were really few peaks of quality. In numerical terms there was no moment that went below a 7, but there was no moment above a 9 either. 8.6/10 Subjective parts: I don't like CG, but it was nothing egregious, and maybe it is a hot take, but although I like Rie Takahashi, and she did manage to make a 10-12yo boy voice, for the latter part it was really weird having a 15-17 boy/man still having Rie as a voice actress. *2017 isekai show about a successful company-man getting reincarnated into a young fragile body, where he uses his knowledge from his previous life and integrates it with the magical elements of the new settings, because of that he quickly climbs the ranks and becomes a child prodigy, but with every promotion the situation just gets more and more dangerous for both him the team he gets to lead [which was specifically granted/created for him by the country's leader].

Knight's & Magic (2017) Who just stands still when a car is hurling towards them, like literally take 3 steps forward or just don't stop? For a show made in 2017, it honestly feels much older than that in the way it looks. Also using the Infinite Stratos style ending with the running is classic. The show whilst entertaining completely moves away from the monsters quite quickly. Instead of an amazing protagonist, you have your normal Isekai with many holes. The main character was a programmer, not an engineer, designer, or someone particularly knowledgeable of combat, and yet here he is the master of everything and still a young child. Imagine going to a race with hundreds of years of history and suddenly uprooting it all like nothing. This is that sort of anime. The main character is the generic child who is able to do more than he could ever do before without any real explanation. The art is the biggest issue since it looks so very old, I could have seen this being around the days of shows like Infinite Stratos in 2011 and fitting in nicely. It just feels very dated and I don't know why that was a benefit in this case. The characters are fine, no one is really particularly memorable but then no one is particularly bad. You get some cases of a character turning a new leaf and then just fade into obscurity. Overall, it is fine as a whole show but feels like it could have been better. The combat is good fun and so is the storytelling when you get past the amazing amount of cringe. I do dislike a show that says it involves school but then moves away from it almost immediately. 5/10.

Mecha Otaku who earns a living as a programmer, gets a kiss from Truck-kun, and ends up Isekaid in a world where steampunk interior, scifi outerior mecha robots powered by magic are used to fight off monsters and wage war. Animation / Art / General Visuals - 9/10 ----------------------------------------------- The visuals are pretty damn good. The mecha design and animation is beautiful. Smooth and subtle 3D usage makes the mechs look absolutely amazing and the combat between them and monsters feels visceral. Non-mech aspects are pretty good as well, with clean designs and animations. The show is certainly enjoyable to watch visually. Sound / Music / Voice Acting - 7/10 ------------------------------------------ Opening track is pretty cool, but beyond that nothing particularly noteworthy. Story - 6/10 ------------- Unfortunately there isn't much of one. The show touches on some aspects of other shows like Code Geass and Gundam 00 where there's a technological race between opposing forces, but there is no real substance behind it. The entire story revolves around how one Isekai'd Mecha Otaku just can't help but to use their modern day knowledge and skills to improve on the existing mecha designs. Creating ever more powerful robots. At some point some of that new tech gets stolen, and another force appears who starts a war with them, which is basically the extent of the story. Characters - 6/10 --------------------- Like the story, the characterisation is pretty weak. The MC is extremely single minded, and it's a bit silly how their background as a programmer apparently also makes them a god tier tech engineer. I've seen more than one anime that equate the two fields and it's honestly rather annoying. Writing lines of code is pretty far removed from high tech engineering. Side characters are walking placeholders with barely any personality. All villains but one are forgettable. Attempts were made to flesh out some characters, even shoehorn a side character romance into the show, but it all falls pretty flat. 13 episodes just isn't enough time to have much anything other than non-stop mecha combat. In fact I would have preferred them to drop everything else and go even deeper into that. --- Total - 7/10 --- "Playing with mechs" is a rather enjoyable anime as long as you don't expect much from its story or characters. The meat of the show is all in the robot battles. Go in expecting that, and you'll have a good time.

Before we proceed to what I can say about this anime, I would like to remind all of you that we have our own tastes. Some may have hated it, some says its an average for them, while some and for me it's a great anime. Straight 10 out of 10 It was interesting to watch. If you are into anime with a losing arc. this anime isn't for you. There are scenes where they somehow lost and rose up however it is not that typical anime where they really are in despair because of losing. If you are looking for an anime with a lot of fan service, this isn't for you also. This is a good anime, it's worth giving a try, it's interesting, and I had a lot of fun. If you're against my review, I don't care. Spread love, no hate.

I'm ashamed to say this but, this anime needs MORE EPISODES AND SEASONS, here's why: Well this anime is one of the best isekai anime of all time, let me tell you why So this anime has literally everything a kid and an adult would ever want for in an anime. For most it's this indescribable phenomenon of goodness. For me I avoided this anime because it looked bland, but that was a mistake, it infused elements of SA, Code Geass, Log Horizon and Drifters too. The characters just resonante, someone who is great at their field and has been transported to another world,to some how find happiness again after death. This anime makes you feel joyful and like you and the main character Ernesty Eschevalier, I might be spelled that wrong but who cares, and relatable. This makes adults feels nostalgic about the good memories they had about a simpler time in life, this anime has everything we ever wanted and it gives us a fulfillment of joy, and for kids it's obvious because it has everything they want right now. The storyline, plot and character development are all one of the best I've seen so far, although the quality and sound could be a bit better, but you get used to it, it's still pretty good.

I don't usually leave scores on anime that I watch and I've never written a review for one. That being said there's not much to say about this one, the story is just poor, there's little to no character development and it was just a painful experience trying to finish the last few episodes. STORY: 3/10 The story was ultimately rushed and not allowed to develop as it should have. There were a few good ideas and concepts that I liked but were never developed upon and wasted. The story could have been so much more than it was. The outcome was just average and uninteresting. ART: 7/10 I liked it, the art style was ok. The style is more on the average side but wasn't bad all things considered. The scenes were drawn well and the CG mechas could have been much worse. SOUND: 6/10 I don't really have much to say about the sound. It was ok. I wasn't too fond of the OST in this one though. It wasn't bad I just felt that it didn't quite fit and was out of place. Other than that it was fine. CHARACTERS: 3/10 The characters are just bland and boring. Everything about the main character and supporting characters is just way too undeveloped. One thing that was actually surprising about this anime though is the almost nonexistent fanservice in it. That was the only surprising thing about it. ENJOYMENT: 4/10 I went into this thinking it wouldn't be too bad and that it might actually be good. In the end, it just wasn't enjoyable for me. I lost interest halfway into it as the story wasn't really going anywhere and neither were the characters.

K&M is almost aggressively average. It is in many ways a victim of its genre. The "isekai" i.e. reincarnated in another world genre tends to have a ubiquitous and critical flaw. The main characters are generally ridiculously (too) powerful. The better ones avoid this entirely or in part, or they account for it and use it as the basis for the story. Unfortunately K&M does neither. Which reveals the shows biggest flaw. A complete lack of tension, there is never any fear of defeat and it robs the action sequences of anything beyond interesting spectacle. "Interesting" is probably the best word to describe the series, well, perhaps not the series but the setting. The idea of codified magic is surprisingly rare, or at best given lip service, but to its credit K&M goes all in on the "magic as a programming language for reality." Now it's not the first to do it, Rick Cook explored similar territory in his 1989 book "Wizard's Bane". But again its rare enough so it deserves kudos for that. It is also a fairly acceptable explanation for how and why the protagonist becomes so powerful so quickly. Though apparently it should have made it more explicit as it seems to have escaped several other reviewers, or perhaps more charitably they arent familiar with how programming works? In short general coding concepts are eminently portable from one language to another. Unfortunately beyond the setting and the exuberant love for giant robots this show doesnt have a huge amount to offer. Which is perhaps unsurprising given its origin. As the name of medium explicitly informs you light novels are meant to be an idle diversion and that phrase sums up Knights & Magic perfectly. It's a light distraction, it won't change your life but it also wont waste your time.
