The first season, (have only watched this one so far) feels like a super high quality shitpost. I love it in every ways, it's so absurd, so violent, just satiates my primal masculine urges. Everything is possible if you imagine hard enough. High entertainment value, might not be as well written but I got a good laugh out of the show,(I mean it in the most loving way). The story feels legitimately unique, it starts off in a very interesting way. Characters are well written I think and some interactions were interesting (great character development for some). The plot might not be the best written though but the absurdity is what I love about the show. I loved this show, and will consume other seasons soon :) . (edit) wording

The first season of the Netflix Baki anime has a fantastic plot that kept me engaged from start to finish. The animation, while not the best, is still good enough to be enjoyable. The art style is not my favorite, but it doesn't take away from the overall experience. The characters in this anime are well-developed and have their own unique personalities and backgrounds. The English voice acting is top-notch and really brings the characters to life. One of the strong points of this anime is its diversity. It features a wide range of characters from different countries and backgrounds, which helps to create a more interesting and dynamic world. Unfortunately, the enjoyment factor was not as high as I would have liked. The pacing can be a bit slow at times and the story-telling could be improved. The music and sound effects are decent, but the openings and endings are forgettable. Overall, while Baki is seen as a masterpiece to many due to its unorthodox method of storytelling, this was not the case for me. While the action and shounen elements were strong, the drama and mysteries could have been handled better. I was initially interested in the anime, but the first few episodes did not resonate with me and I ended up putting it on hold. Despite its flaws, I am still curious about the next season of Baki and will be watching it.

Baki is a very unusual show. The story is that 5 of the most dangerous criminals, all on death row, decide to go to Tokyo in search of someone who can defeat them. It's a very interesting hook for a story, but it has a lot of issues that start becoming more apparent the further into the show you get. The main problem I'd say the show has is a bloated cast of characters with no main focus on any one of them. More characters get introduced faster than others are defeated, causing even more bloat later on. Baki is not only not the main focus, despite the show being named after him, but most of his little screen time tends to be uninteresting and feels like it is the worst part of the season. There was also a handful of uses of CGI that looks mostly unremarkable and messes up the momentum of the fights. I would say the show is a 6/10; if the story was more concise with a more focused cast and shortened by about four episodes, it would be a contender for a 9/10.

I hadn't consume any Baki related media before this. So if you are thinking about entering just as myself two months ago, I hope I can help. Baki is a action thriller anime based in punch-to-punch fights, in its essence. The anime plot isn't really its best part, although we can find some very remarkable moments due to various secondary characters. It isn't much about Baki, in my point of view. The anime is sustained by the great and diverse character design present in the Baki-universe. Almost all the characters have their own unique mysteries, charism, personality and it is all shown in fights. Dialogues, flashbacks. And they are almost all very well design to the purpose of never-ending bloodshed, sense of danger and unpredictability fights. The series has its strong sides in its 80's-90's martial arts shonen design. It is all about fights between fists. Not barehanded, of course, and with some detailed strategies and characters' attributes. It is very much a stereotype of martial arts shonen, yes. But different, sometimes. Violence really takes a place and is the reason for the violence & profanity tag. Character's abilities are somewhat insane and far beyond human capacities in very specific points so it doesn't really feel like a excess to the audience (I personally think the gore can be hard to hard for most foes as it was for me in the beginning and learned to handle it). The plot is basically about five death row murderers that felt inside them the urge to find their death in a fight. They escape, at the same time, from differents high-security prison in bizarre and absurd ways. Their design are pretty much revolved in a cloudy bizarre, unique and absurd ways. The animation is ok, sometimes being kind of lazy but not that much. The muscles are very well detailed and it can be all it is about in insane moments. The openings can be as freaky as the series, but it lacks the image in my opinion I really enjoyed watching Baki since it is clearly a type of anime that lacks in our modernity. It is visceral. It is about strength, as it can be a encyclopedia and hot-blooded moments.

Note: This Review acts as a Review for the entirety of Baki thus far, as I feel pretty indifferent about most arcs. Baki is just the perfect Anime/Manga if you want to turn your brain off and just enjoy some Gore and over-the-top fighting scenes. The writers are fully aware of that not everything should be taken seriously but the trivia knowledge you get about a lot of different fighting styles and how they developed in the course of history is still pretty interesting. In fact, Baki got me quite hooked on martial arts like Muay Thai where I previously didn't have any interest in. So despite the fact that you could rid of Baki as a "Meme" for being so exaggerated it still has some redeeming qualities in that department. The most important part about this Show is obviously the fights. What makes them so fun to watch is always the build-up towards them. Be it a tough Opponent for Baki to get to the next level or even the occasional absolute destruction of his Father beating up some poor guy it always is a pleasure to see how they prepare for a fight. The fights themselves also score in all of the good categories for never being too long and not having a lot of "in-betweens" aka Dragon Ball Z syndrome. I personally would even give the series a higher score just for that but my gripe with it is, that it is in fact way too long for its own good. Also since it only offers good entertainment in fights I would never give it anything higher than a "7" because of the lack of interesting Story/Characters.

If you want a concise review that isn't riddled with vague pseudo-intellectual nonsense, read this one. It's Street Fighter in the format of an anime. You see fighters with their own unique abilities go up against each other, with mundane story elements that justify the fight taking place. A fictive example: one fighter works for the police and another one deals drugs, they meet on a drug-busting operation and fight. There's also a main tournament where they'll eventually all meet again. All fighters are extremely caricatural (in a good way). They're all distinguished from normal humans with their abnormal muscle anatomy and strength. Similar to Broly from DBZ. Their personalities are also extreme (criminals, mentally challenged, blood-thirsty fighters, etc.). The fights are very eccentric and very technical. Movements and gore are amplified, with various cinematic and dramatic visuals. Some fighters have techniques that are very specific and "scientifically" grounded, and in many cases they're explained in full detail.

Baki, in my opinion: Close to a masterpiece. It would have been awesome if there was an episode with a training montage. Every fight anime needs a training montage. What i really liked was the behavior of some characters. The 'bad guys' act like they are bad guys but some of the 'good guys' also do that. What i also really liked was that there are many fight styles in this anime and they all have there own disciplines. Too bad i can't spoil because i have so much awesome things to say about the characters and some parts of the story. I really enjoyed Baki!

I watched Baki years ago when it first came out, and while the first season rocked, the second season was straight trash. So, when I saw Baki had made a comeback, I didn't know if it would be great or terrible. Fortunately, it leaned more towards great. The return of Baki sees a more unhinged version of the anime, at times feeling like it wants to be a bit JoJo-esque by blending insane brutality (which it always has had) with a new comedic twist. Basically, 5 death row inmates have escaped prisons around the world and have come to Japan to face Baki and the Underground warriors in a desire to "taste defeat". This leads to basically just constant fighting. Literally, non-stop fighting at almost all times. If you sit down for dinner? You're going to get into a fight. If you go shopping? You're going to get into a fight. If you're trying to "have the day of sex" with your girl? You're going to get into a fight. And, with this being a martial arts anime, there's nothing wrong with that. And the fighting is BRUTAL. Prepare to see chunks of face go flying. They seriously had some preoccupation with mutilating faces. It's like a competition was going on to see who could brutally scar someone for life. Hands get severed, chunks of skin get torn off, there's even a guy who gets shredded by teeth lying on the ground. It's nuts. This isn't for the squeamish. But, if you don't mind that, the fights were awesome. The comedy was hit or miss. They tried to pull off the Jojo style, where they blend absurdity with deadly seriousness. It mostly missed, but sometimes it really, really hit. (Small spoiler: There is a moment when Baki's dad shows up in his bedroom to give him some "encouragement.". It was so dang funny and awkward.) But, most of the attempts at comedy weren't that funny. Fortunately, they didn't seem to go for laughs until the second half of the anime, so it didn't ruin the anime or make it cringeworthy. The characters were surprisingly good. I had forgotten most of them after so many years, but there was quite a few intriguing guys. My favorite had to be Biscuit, the convict brought in to hunt down the death row inmates. However, as this is an anime about mindless violence, you can expect plenty of faulty logic and storytelling problems. People do things without much reason, just to start a fight. People make odd decisions that doesn't seem to have any meaning or make much sense. This was especially true with any event surrounding Doyle. Both he, and the people around him, continually made decisions that went against their characters, common sense and the nature of the show. The logic at the end of the anime is also sketchy, but I won't say anything about it, so as not to spoil anything, other than: "This is not how you save a man's life.". But, in spite of the sketchy logic at times, there were some great and entertaining moments. If you love martial arts and constant action like I do, this anime is for you. This was a really fun anime to watch and I'm going straight into Season 2.

The show has a lot of great characters and its a good show to get into. The animation itself if nice, and the fighting itself is good although sometimes the fights do end quickyly in the show. My issue though is show lacks developments of characters and story telling as well it can be a little confusing to follow and it does not always make sense, how ever i found after season 1 their was more improvement in this aspect regardless i did enjoy the show and i am glad i came across it. I will say i do not think it is a show everyone will enjoy but i do suggest people to give it a try maybe try to watch a couple of episodes to see if you can get into it.

Are you into senseless, brutal violence and nothing else? Then this is the show for you. This was my first exposure to Baki and I have to say that this is very disappointing and felt like a waste of time. I just pulled through the show to finish it and to give it a shot after it was hyped so much. This is not even a good action anime there are way better shows out there you can invest your time on. The anime is very inconsistent. There are 5 criminals who are dangerously strong and are held at high-security specialized prisons (the prisons are specialized to hold them) they all break out and come to Tokyo to find Baki Hanma and defeat him. A couple of episodes in one of the criminals finds Baki and completely annihilates him. Later, about midway into the series, Baki is able to defeat not only him but another one of the 5 criminals. While this is a common trope in action anime, there is nothing that shows how Baki got stronger. Don't even get me started on that weird love story that came out of nowhere and Baki only seems to care about sex. There is nothing likable about Baki as a lead character that the show is named after and none of the characters is likable or memorable. The art in the show is another downfall, although it is consistent the animation itself is weird and doesn't flow well. I'm a strong believer that action anime use the platform to its maximum potential, with great angles and dynamic camera work and character expressions of which none are seen here, there are a couple of close-ups and so on but, it's more childish than impressive. This is one of those shows that people who don't watch action anime watch and use as an example to generalize and complain about all action anime, which I don't blame them for but, triggers me. Kengan Ashura is a better show compared to this and it is just as senseless and violent. It is also CGI which I was skeptical about. While it has a lot of its own downfalls and is not a great show in any regard. It has a simple premise that holds the series together and gives it structure, whereas Baki is just all over the place and doesn't know what it's doing due to the lack of any structure or a clear story. Final verdict, looks buff and strong but, Baki throws a weak punch, just dodge it. You're better off watching any other anime.

So ... Let's start out with that i haven't yet watched Baki The Grappler but i'm starting it right after i finish this review. The Opening is really nice, could be perfect if the screaming was a little bit less. I needed a little bit more explanation on who Baki really is and on his past but maybe i will see this in the 2001 series so i can't really talk about this. I see logic in him becoming a lot stronger after he did sex but i also don't see it. He was way too different after this and the love story was a lil bit cliche in my opinion. Im totally into the blood scenes and especially the scene where Sikorsky peed on Igari Kanji and i liked how they connected the story after those 5 criminals died with this new tournament and the whole poison stuff. It left me really hyped for the 2nd season thats coming this year!

English. A pretty interesting first part, in my opinion. If you've already seen the previous anime about this protagonist, you'll love this new one. It has the same aesthetic of strength and martial arts that many will love, along with a bit of a crazy and unreal story that fans of the series will love. Now, if you want to start with this anime, watching Baki isn't a bad idea. All the fighters are explained, and while you won't understand many things, it's not entirely necessary. The plot here is one where different fighters from around the world go to Japan to lose something they've never experienced, each with different abilities that will help them. A story that, in my opinion, has a lot of potential, and here they were able to demonstrate it. We see all the criminals, and specifically two of them, in depth, where each fight will have a consequence that may or may not last. If you like martial arts or the fighting genre, this is an anime I think you shouldn't miss. However, I don't think it's for everyone. There will be many unrealistic elements, but that's the essence of anime, so if you don't like those, this isn't the anime for you. If you're a more casual viewer, I think it will entertain you, but you won't find much consistency in the story or understand many things because, as such, this isn't the character's first anime. A second part of the season that ends and begins with something interesting. Here we see the last fighters imprisoned, and we realize how weak some were and how strong others were. For me, the most relevant or funny part of this second part was episode 20 of the season or episode 7 of this second part. I think they reached such an absurd level that I loved it. You truly become convinced that what happened in this episode was relevant to our protagonist, to the point that it changed something in him. But focusing on the main points of this part, I really think it wasn't that bad. They gave us a satisfactory conclusion and also showed us what the next season of the anime will be about, which truly promises a lot. I will emphasize what I said in my previous review of the first part to conclude: "If you like martial arts or the fighting genre, this is an anime that I think you shouldn't miss. That said, I don't think it's for everyone. There will be many unrealistic elements, but that's the essence of the anime, so if you don't like them, this is not the anime for you." Also, if you watched the first part of the season, I think it won't disappoint you at the beginning. After the middle of the season, I think it will be the case. It kind of plummets, and the fights aren't as unexpected or spectacular as we saw before. I still recommend it because it delivers on what it promised and is entertaining. Bonus: I loved the intro to this second part.

Right then, this one was a shame. It's started with much promise, lost its way and finished in a little bit of a mess. That's the summary here is a little breakdown. What really does shine in this show is the music. It's excellent. Less of a score and more of a series of bangers that appear at the perfect moments. Even the intro music is great. It add a great deal of excitement to fights that honestly, the further you get into the show, are really anything but exciting. The music at times really keeps the show afloat. Animation wise, it seems to be in line with all 'Netflix Original Anime' (NOA), it's ok, bit of a cheap copy of Jo Jo style. Seems every NOA has the same weird look to it. Everything is over the top and I'm not sure it is in a good way. Not quite as good damn awful as Record of Ragnarshite, but it's not the best. The actual fights seems to get more boring on animation as the show progresses too. Had some high hopes in the begining, the hope quickly subsided. Now for the story. It's starts ok to be honest, it gives these death row inmates a lot of hype. Gets you excited to witness some destruction from them. It also doesn't disappoint for maybe the first ten episodes. It then just gets really predictable. You think the inmate has lost and POW, no he hasn't, he has ANOTHER trick up his sleeve....of course he does. Once these convicts start losing, pretty much from the first time one loses, the story goes all over the place. Characters are introduced in a rush job kind of way, with no relevance to the actual plot. They come out of nowhere. The writing of the story gets more and more rushed to the end as well. The effort in the writing that you enjoy in the begining is none existent towards the end and when you finally finish this 26 ep season which feels twice as long, you are glad it's over. I'll be honest, the writing in some of the fights in the later half, specifically the final two, is awful. Given its starts well, despite it ending terribly, the animation is JUST ok and the music is solid, it's a 6/10. Only just a 6 for me sadly, yet to be impressed by a NOA and I doubt I ever will be.

I'm going to be one of those guys who say, please, watch the OG Baki Anime. Baki is a weird case of an identity crisis. The show has been in the dark for decades before a continuation was announced, yes, you heard it, this is a sequel to a two seasons series from the early 2000s, the dated animation might scare some people away, but please, give it a chance before proceeding to watch this season. That aside, if you just wanna jump in to get a better grasp of the memes, then knock yourself out, this show is a minefield for memes, almost every line of dialogue mocks common sense in all sorts of metrics until you realize you're watching Baki, a show that invites you to open your head, grab your brain out, seat it next to you and shares a bowl of popcorn over a streamline of episodes, it is that simple and unassuming. From a personal telescope, it appears that Baki, as a character, loses a lot of character that you see him develop in the earlier two seasons, he's a walking empty sell, hungry for fights and lacking principle, slowly falling under the emo trend that carries no special depth, which is a shame considering the character development he received up until this point, it's almost as a soft reboot for his character. What's better than Baki though, is the return of all of the loved familiar faces, characters we thought were one-offs make a comeback and fill you with joy and excitement every time they are on screen, making you sheer for them and care about them more so than you'd do about the main character. In addition to that, some of the newly introduced characters make for some of the best ones in the entire series, it's shocking how a show that doesn't take itself seriously like Baki is able to flip the switch in an instance and present a rooster full of strongly willed, interestingly conflicted characters that waver between good and evil, making it easy for the viewers to sympathize and like them. Probably the most visible enhancement from this sequel is undoubtedly the animation, although the arc looked a tad weird coming from the older seasons, they still pay a huge deal of loyalty to the original art of the Manga. Although I'm still raising an eyebrow over some questionable CGI placements, that brought about nightmarish memories of that opening from the older seasons. It's very known that Baki is not the type of show that might have you reflecting upon life, praise for masterful writing, or make examples out of, and even if it was, no judging you, but one can't deny how entertaining this airhead of a show can really be most of the times. Which all of its drawbacks, it hosts some of the most hype fights in anime, and this is no overstatement. Overall: 7.9

I want to start with a back story: I first watched Baki when it came out in 2018 and I didn't like it at all and I thought that it is a garbage anime. Four years later I visited my friend and he offered that we watch the first episode of Baki again and I was very skeptical but I gave it a shot and I found it quite surprising that I liked it a lot. Back in 2018 I searched deep plot on every anime that I watched and searched for logic explanations in bizzare scenes and when I didn't found an explanation I claimed that the anime is shit. As the years past I learned to let go my mind and taught myself to just watch and enjoy the anime whether it's logical or not and that is why when I rewatched Baki again in 2022 I looked it in a positive way. The plot of Baki is not deep with twistis and moments that make you cry. It is PURE action scenes as simple as that and watching it again with my new mindset view on anime made me really enjoy watching it! Every episode you wait for the next punch , the next kick, the next headbutt , the next bone crash, the next bloodshed, who cares about plot? who cares about characters buildup? who cares about twists? who cares about shedding a tear in emotinal scenes? just give me pure action in a way that only Japanese people can animate, and that is EXACTLY what Baki gives us! Note that the serias is a sequal of the serias "Grappler Baki" that came out back in 2001. Won't watching it dosen't keep you with plot holes so don't worry about it. Because the anime is pretty simple, i'm keeping this review simple as well without expanding it more. I'll finish this review by reccomending you readers to go watch Baki and just enjoy primitive action scenes without deep plot and twists, trust me that altough the irony, watching action packed non-stop scenes with high adrenaline actually make you really relaxed because you don't have to think too much and just enjoy the scenes.

This was one of the best animes I have watched and probably the best martial arts, fighting, hand-to-hand combat type anime. If you love those types of animes which has an overpowered character, you will love this anime. There are so many characters in this that have the capacity to become your favorite. There's not much of a plot for this. But every character has a background story and good ones. It has every type of martial arts included as well as some weaponry. Filled with passionate hand-to-hand combat. If you love hand-to-hand combat with overpowered beings, with someone who can be called "Strongest Creature on Earth", or with a convict who has enough power to go in and out of the safest prison whenever he wants, or with someone who can tear a chunk from a deck of cards effortlessly with his fingers, You will love this anime.

Full Disclaimer: This is review is about the series as a whole from S1-S3. The beginning really had me hooked, badass fights with badass fighters. I gradually lost interest when I began to think about how the fights happened and how the story was going in-between fights. that really took a toll on me but I pushed through and wanted Baki to achieve his goal. The ending of the 3rd season is what really did it for me. I felt like it was such a huge waste of my time. So much so, I turned on my computer and signed into my account just to make this review. I took great displeasure on how the story ended. If I was asked if I would recommend this show to others, the only way id recommend it is if they watch its purely for the fights and not to care about the rest of the story. The story is bad but the animation, the art, and the sfx are pretty good. I'm just very disappointed in it, it had so much build up for nothing. Don't waste your time and finish another show.

I dont remember what i actually gave this. The prisoner arc was fun, then it was boring. yep. It said to enter a longer review, yet i have nothing more to add. this show was pretty nice I guess. I've watched 5 shows I think, animes i mean... It still tells me to write a longer review. I'm not an actual reviewer, nor do I want to spend the time to actually write an anime review for random people online. It still has to be longer... seriously guys, I just wanted to leave a short, funny joke review on Baki the Grappler, but now I have written far too much. Hopefully it lets me post this now... again, I liked the show.
