This is everything the main anime should've been but wasn't. I actually feel like this author could've made a way, way better manga if he had all the characters from the current one, removed their edgy pasts and inserted them into a weird high school setting like this OVA had. Seriously, the main story is pure, unfiltered garbage. Well, this OVA isn't that good either, but at least it's much better than the real deal. For starters, it properly knows it's a gag comedy and nothing else. If the author had kept true to the premise of his own story without edgy, half-arsed dark pasts and subpar drama mixed with boring comedic relief and dragged-out battles, it would've been so great, prison setting or not. So, what is this OVA about? Well, nothing much, as it should be. It's all just for laughs. Nothing complicated going on as it parodies the main anime by putting similar events and the same characters into a high school setting where prisoners become students and guards/prison staff becomes teachers and school staff(although there are exceptions to this rule, like hajime being a student instead of a teacher, not that he acts differently from his guard self). I wouldn't say it's hilarious, but at least it managed to make me smile and rinse away the bad taste of the butchered and minced main anime. A good ending to a crappy experience. Recommended watch, although I will never watch or read anything by this author again. Once is enough to know the style of the author and I personally find his style to be almost offensive(things like not staying true to the setting it was supposed to have is something I despise, especially if the author isn't talented enough to connect the parts properly).

OVERALL: 4/10. Nothing too special. It\s a random one-shot that doesn't cover any new content, but just goes over the plot of season 1... as a high school AU STORY:3/10. it's just the 1st season of the anime if it took place in a school of delinquents rather than a prison, focusing on "Seitarou Tanabata" (who I only recognize as the cyan haired childish guard and needed to look up his name) making it weaker than the original story. ART: 7/10. Same art style and animation as the main anime. Animation is pretty good for a show this bad. Characters still look like a child's first OC, but you grow immune to it. SOUND: 5/10. Again, nothing too good, nor too bad. CHARACTER: 4/10. The same 1 dimensional characters we know from season 1, this time in a school setting... wow! ENJOYMENT:4/10. Not fun, more of a confusing chore since Chrunchyroll placed this right after the end of season 2, making me think was the finally or the start of season 3. I ended up skipping through since you'd already know all what's going on from season 1... ugh

Another completely crazy episode of Nanbaka, and honestly, that's exactly what I expected from it. "Shusseki Bangou no Tsuita Baka-tachi!" doesn't try to advance the main story or develop major conflicts. The goal here is simply to deliver a few more minutes of the chaotic comedy that made the series win over its audience. The special is practically a sequence of absurd situations involving the characters we already know. The jokes arise all the time, whether through exaggerated interactions, the completely eccentric personalities of the cast, or the nonsensical situations that end up happening. It's the kind of episode that doesn't need to be taken seriously at any point, serving only to entertain those who already like the work. One of Nanbaka's greatest qualities continues to be its cast. Each character has such a caricatured and exaggerated personality that any simple conversation can turn into a hilarious scene. The humor isn't always sophisticated, but it works precisely because it embraces the absurd without any shame. It's hard not to laugh a few times watching the idiocies they commit throughout the episode. Visually, Nanbaka remains extremely unique. Even though it's just a short special, the animation and especially the art design remain the franchise's biggest differentiator for me. The vibrant colors, exaggerated effects, and almost brilliant style of the characters give the series a very distinctive identity. It's a visual style that immediately catches the eye and greatly helps to make the comedy scenes even funnier. For a long time, I considered the animation the main reason to watch Nanbaka, but rewatching this special, I realize that the humor also deserves considerable recognition. The combination of such a distinctive visual direction and totally nonsensical humor creates a very fun and lighthearted experience. Overall, I recommend Nanbaka to anyone looking for an unpretentious work focused on entertainment and comedy. This special doesn't add anything essential to the story, but it delivers exactly what fans expect: more funny moments, charismatic characters, and a good dose of craziness. It's simple, yet fun, extra content that manages to capture the essence of the series well. Rating: 6/10. Nota: 6/10.
