Youjo Senki: Senkyou Houkoku
幼女戦記 第6.5話「戦況報告」
Saga of Tanya the Evil: War Report

Do you need a recap of Loli Senki? Here goes: An asshole businessman gets out-assholed by another asshole and talks to some sort of God just before his inevitable death, which leads to a reincarnation as a little orphan girl named Tanya. She joins the military as a child and proves to be the very best like no one ever was, rises through the ranks, gets a small army of mages by impressing them with how much of an asshole she is, and together they fuck up some other armies. That's pretty much it. Recaps are nice for more complicated and plot-heavy series with many characters, such as last year's 91 Days. Youjo Senki basically has one character and the plot can be further condensed into one sentence: "A little girl becomes Hitler." Recaps are also nice if you're a brand-new studio making a high quality anime and suddenly realizing that making high quality anime is rather difficult, so you need to stall for time until the next episode to get production slightly back on track. That's basically it. Studio Sex Jokes apparently ran into some "uh-ohs" and needed some room to breathe, so someone stitched together some clips and scenes over the first six episodes. Nothing new was added, with the exception of a few quick narration lines from Yuuki Aoi. It's only worth watching if you want a free entry to your MAL list so you can impress people with your number of completed shows. Otherwise, feel free to say "fuck recap episodes", not watch it (don't forget this step, it's important), and blame the entire thing on Being X. All things aside, the recap episode is at least slightly amusing to me, as someone who believes Aryan Senki to be quite enjoyable as a whole. Without much of a plot to lean on, it has highly thrilling action pieces with god-tier sound effects and mostly good animation. And without the need for a supporting cast, Tanya hogs the spotlight and makes every minute count with her devilish ideologies and twisted antics. All of this is showcased in this recap, but the series doesn't have enough excessive length to warrant a condensed version. I would recommend watching the anime in full as opposed to this. It's certainly not a bad recap. It doesn't come off as a cheap advertisement to the series or anything, it just replays scenes. I mean, I'd rather watch this than another episode of Rewrite. It merely serves its purpose: to stall time for the production team, and to quickly feed information to possible newcomers and confused individuals, however unnecessary those tasks may be. Bottom line: not important. Don't watch it. Fuck Being X. Bye.

I mean it's practically annoying to see a recap episode, when you literally waited for the next episode, of new content, to appear as you waited for it. And it may seem possible as well, that the reason for this anime to do such a thing may be due to some conflicts that some viewer may have with understanding what's going on in the story, to the point that we're at right now. Or they're just lacking the budget or time to actual animate and finish everything accordingly. But I mean why are we even complaining? We watch their shit for free. And they're not profiting from our money. Aside from that, the anime is actually pretty simple to understand, the difficult part that some people might have a tough time understanding would be some language used, like German food, wurst (the sausage). Or just some military like strategy and logic involved in the show, if you are unfamiliar with civilization like games or study history passionately, then it's going to be kinda tough to understand those part without reading it carefully. Aside from that, this shit was unnecessary.

Recap episodes for 12 episode series are the devil. I always think maybe they'll reveal some new content at the end of the episode or something, but am always let down. This show is no exception. This is unfortunate because Studio NUT (cuz you really have to put emphasis on that) was actually providing an enjoyable show for their first outing. Episodes like these really add nothing to the discussion because it's just scenes from previous episodes stapled together into an unholy abomination. Maybe it's just an allusion towards Frankenstein's monster that these episodes are paying tribute to. I'm just kidding, they're not that deep, they're just a time saving move for when a studio runs into production troubles so that they can get back on track on a release schedule. The show, however, is a pretty good watch, but this special is nonsense.

This is pretty much the definition of filler. I believe that the general explanation for this recap was just because there were 13 weeks in this cour where Youjo Senki had to run, so the studio used the opportunity to splice something together since they didn't have the budget, or enough story material, to make an actual episode of new content. I suppose that's better than a situation where they just ran behind schedule and had to scramble, but it's not much of an excuse even then. I like Youjo Senki a lot, but the story isn't all that complex, and the animation isn't that amazing, that some kind of clip episode was warranted. There's zero reason to waste your time on this.

Short one, as this is a recap: Basically, then animation was good and up to scratch as per usual (they did take the scenes from the anime), music choices were good, they included all necessary story (but cut out a couple of my favourite scenes for time, although they were not really important to the plot) and everything was basically the same. All-in-all, it was a well-done recap episode, even if it shouldn't really be needed in a one cour seasonal at the 6 ep mark. It wasn't really needed, and to be honest I'd only recommend it if you needed a quick refresher for the movie, are low on time and want to rewatch but don't have time for all 12, or maybe as a trial for the series (?? [probably not though, just watch the first couple eps]. 7/10 overall score for how it was done, not for my personal feelings towards it.

Guys, we could have atleast had a beach episode, but instead we get this crap, biggest letdown thus far this year. The following text you are about to read is complete filler because they wouldnt let me submit such a short review but you can look at the filler I'm writing as a comparison to the Recap of Youjo Senki. Also what do you guys think about Wargaming releasing the Object 252U Defender? I already have an IS-6 so I'm already on the paintrain but seeing as how good the IS-6 is on its own really helps me handle the reality of this bullshit. TLDR We didn't need a recap and we certainly didn't want to wait an entire week to see an episode only to find out we have to wait TWO weeks. Object 252U is op but the IS-6 is ok so its all fine.

I mean to be Honest the review was done in an entertaining way but it was unnecessary since the anime is only 12 episodes so the it comes off as incredibly repetitive which makes me give it a lower score but it is better than usual recaps. But once again I think the enjoyment that you make get from this recap depends on how much you enjoy the anime itself. Also I believe since the story itself does not contain many twists and turns requiring you to need a recap too (though in my opinion a recap is pointless unless a new season comes out more than a ear later) so once again comes back to my point that its very unnecessary which ruins watching it so you might as well just watch the first six episodes instead of watching this recap.

Was a recap necessary for 6 episodes? At least the recap is well done, if you actually forget everything and don't want to watch the first half again, it's a good thing, and they cover basically everything important on that first half, it was even good to me, who watched the anime late at night and forgot a lot of stuff, so that's a good point. But in general, it was actually really unnecessary for a 12 episodes anime, they could've made 13 episodes with more content. Well, it's an average recap, you can skip it if you remember everything.

Short and unnecessary. Seriously? Recapping practically half the anime? It’s hard to understand the need to turn a show that could have simply moved forward into an entire episode dedicated to retelling events the viewer has already seen. A recap is usually dispensable on its own, but the situation is even stranger here because the production chooses to summarize only a portion of the season without presenting truly new content or adding anything relevant to the narrative. The impression left is that this episode exists more to fill a slot in the broadcast schedule than out of any artistic or narrative necessity. Instead of advancing the story, developing characters, or following new conflicts, we are simply made to watch events we already know all over again. For those who have just finished the season and have everything fresh in their memory, the experience is even more tedious, as practically nothing here justifies the time invested. To make matters worse, the recap doesn't even try to do anything different with the material. There is no fresh approach, significant depth, or new perspective to make old events interesting again. It is basically a straightforward recap that consumes the viewer's time without offering a proportional payoff. It feels much more like a way to buy a week while preparing the next episode than a production that actually needed to exist. It’s a shame, because Youjo Senki has elements that could easily sustain an interesting episode. The main series features a great setting, compelling military conflicts, an extremely peculiar protagonist, and, above all, striking technical quality. Unfortunately, none of that is enough to turn a recap into something truly necessary. Even so, I can't say the episode is completely bad. It retains some of the main series' visual qualities, particularly the excellent animation and competent direction. From a technical standpoint, it remains a well-made production. The problem is that a polished presentation cannot compensate for the lack of new content. You might watch it and be reminded of how interesting the series is, but that only raises the question: why am I rewatching all this instead of getting something new? Ultimately, "Senkyou Houkoku" is one of those episodes that could easily be skipped without the viewer missing anything of importance. If you have watched the anime recently, there is practically no reason to spend your time on this. It is content that seems to exist more for production convenience than out of narrative necessity. It is a visually competent episode, yet narratively useless and completely dispensable. My rating isn't lower only because it still retains some of Youjo Senki's technical qualities. Rating: 4/10. =================================================================================================================Versão em Português===================================== Curto e desnecessário. Poxa, recapitular praticamente metade do anime? Nota: 4/10.
