spoiler free review Story: 9/10 For a comedy show, the premise is just right: an innocent sweet young man who listens to Swedish pop goes to Tokyo and becomes the lead singer of the most popular death metal band in Japan. If just the idea seems incredibly amusing, imagine the anime! The story is amusing and very enjoyable. It is a bit forced at time, but the humor used in this anime is absolutely amazing. The dialogue, the awkward situation that characters are put into, the visuals, all of them make up a good comical story that you will laugh you ass of at. Art: 5/10 This art fits the anime very well, but it is not outstanding or beautiful. It is a different kind of artwork, a type I do not quite enjoy. Sound: 10/10 It may not be a great soundtrack, but oh boy, it fits this anime so well. The ending theme and the opening theme are so different from each other, mirroring the two sides of the main character, Negishi. And I enjoyed the DMC songs, even though death metal is not my cup of tea. Character: 10/10 Surprisingly enough, I loved all characters because most of them have some sort of character development, even though the anime is mostly focused on Negishi, the main character. Involuntarily and voluntarily, he helps the other characters grow as people, while he barely changes, even though he goes through difficult times in this anime. And I gotta say, they portray the death metal fans as some of them are in reality, which is one of the aspects that makes this anime so great and much more than a simple comedy anime. Enjoyment: 10/10 DMC is a great anime, that makes you laugh every episode, while developing a great story, so it is extremely enjoyable. Overall: 8/10 It is indeed a great anime that should not be missed by any comedy fan, and not only.

TL;DR: Beneath the crudeness, this is an amusing and absurd show which is worth watching at least once. The secondhand embarrassment is strong and the story is quite unique. Detroit Metal City-- not going to lie, the name made me think it was some sort of mecha. With cars. Because I don't listen to KISS, and I had no way of knowing the song this was based on. BTW, the song by Kiss is quite good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZq3i94mSsQ So, going into this anime with no sense of what metal really entails, I've come out much the same. But it was an enjoyable ride. People will tell you this anime is crass and vulgar. They're right; it is, and I nearly dropped it because I dismissed it as having nothing to offer besides shock humour. But that's where I was not quite right-- it's just that the shock of it temporarily blinded me to the genuinely funny aspects of the show. Negishi Souichi is an average music graduate whose dream is to write those fluffy cupcake pop songs which are super cute and catchy and diabetes inducing. Unfortunately for him, he earns his bread in the role of his alter ego Krauser II, lead of Detroit Metal City, an up-and-coming metal band on the indie scene. The humour in the series arises from his conflict at being the enemy, with his friends and family having no idea of his double life and his own urge to leave the terrible world of metal behind for more pleasant pastures. The secondhand embarrassment in strong, especially when bowl-cut, round-eyed, bashful Negishi interacts with Aikawa, his longstanding crush who loathes metal. It's an Id and Super-ego sort of situation, with Negishi's rational, traditionalistic side wanting to move away from metal while his inner Krauser emerges at the most inopportune moments, usually around Aikawa. She and the rest of the supporting cast are fairly run-of-the-mill; part of me questions why Aikawa even tolerates Negishi when he acts crazy, but then the point of this show isn't really making sense. Everything related to metal music is exaggerated to absurd propotions, with Krauser's crazy fans taking the erratic and murderous aspects of his persona in stride and praising accidents as deliberate showmanship. This is all made funnier by the VAs for Negishi and Krauser, who do an excellent job narrating events. I have to attach a warning though: the word rape is thrown around a lot and until you get used to it in the context of the show, you might have a hard time ignoring it. In my opinion, the show isn't misogynistic, merely absurdist to the extreme, and it makes fun of rape jokes as it does patricide and the image of violence attached to metal culture. Detroit Metal City isn't something you really understand, just something that you half-laugh, half-cringe at but can't look away from. As for the technical aspects, the music is quite decent. The OP is very catchy and I can't stand the ED because the lyrics are too cheesy. The art style is very...unique, with a combination of stills, jerky motion and flash-style movements that suit the narration. Overall, I think the creators wanted a memorable, absurd anime and they succeeded. Definitely a one-time watch for me, but an interesting one.

Go watch it then come back. ....Well then if your are still here, this the review, also it may have some spoilers(go watch it, please): Detroit Metal City is everything that i would haven't expected. From the get go i just though it was weird, but then i saw the first episode and notice how wrong i was. I truly could not stop laughing and not only that but the show its self is completely original in the anime realm. Its pure gold, pure unpolished dirty rich gold. Its filled with really good satire. Story 6 First the story is pretty generic, yet unexpected, as its about a college graduate who wanted to be come famous singing love songs and ends up being the main singer in a heavy metal band, and has to portray very dreadful yet humorous character. Forced to say and do things that are outlandish, s the main singer, he brings most of the laughter in the series. Also its popular culture shaming its what makes this series so funny. Art: 6 Well there isn't much to say since is a low budget ova series. It's not impressive in any since, its not memorable in any faction, yet it has its charm and uniqueness that helps with the comedy itself, so overall its fair. Sound: 9 Well, the music in the series was good and also the voice acting was good. Now i give it a 9 because as a fan of heavy metal and soft music and everything in between i found it amusing and the lyrics of the songs funny. Now if you don't like your favorite genres being made fun off, or if as a musician you believe it wasn't impressive you can lower the score your self, but to me it did great and felt that it was refreshing. Character: 6 The characters where amusing yet not progressive, if anything static for the most part, except for the MC, as he descends into madness. The MC its complicated individual ans i loves soft pop music and his forced to make dead metal music, which hates, and end up creating a second personality that he uses with the dead metal costume , which in the long wrong causes problems as he starts to blend personalities and such, but i wont say much more. Saying whats about will ruin the comedy. Enjoyment: 10 IT is really fun to watch, the comedy is outstanding, and full of satire. I could not stop laughing, its just comedy genius. Though if it may make some people offended since it just makes fun of pop music cultures and take them to the extreme, which i find amusing, but i know that others wont. Overall: 7 It is a good series, yet it is not with out flaws, which i forgive, since its point is made. Its a fun short series full of satire and crazy characters. Its really worth your time as long as you enjoy good original comedy filled with satire.

FIRST REVIEW ALERT! DMC is different from anything else I have ever seen in the medium. It is one of those rare series that leave you yearning for more. Oh, and I probably should mention this; I hate death metal and the culture surrounding it. Story/ 8 The premise itself is intriguing. Negishi deals with dilemmas caused by his double life as metal band frontman Krauser. This makes for a fairly interesting supervillain slice of life scenario, as Krauser has all the makings of a comic book villain and kind indieboy Negishi himself is the polar opposite of one. The story unfortunately progresses in a very 'problem of the week' sort of way, which feels very monster of the wek-ish and leaves all of the key plotpoints (i.e. the love story) unresolved. That being said, the series is very entertaining and down right hilarious. Art/ 8 The art is unique and purposefully shitty. It looks a lot like the Beavis and Butthead cartoons did back in my childhood and thus fits the mood of the show perfectly. Sound/ 10 I would be a fool not to give the sound a perfect score. The voice acting is simply wonderful and so are the songs from Negishi's retarded indie tunes to DMC's rape the world-anthems. Character/ 10 Every character has a distinct personality, and even most of the sidecharacters are pretty fleshed out. Negishi/Krauser and the band manager are real standouts, and so is rapper Kiva who makes a brief yet hilarious appearance. Enjoyment/10 Haven't laughed this much in a while. Purely awesome, comedygold. Overall/ 9 The story being cut short is what kept DMC from scoring a perfect 10 in my book. Everything else is wonderful and you should already be watching.

Story: The story is nothing amazing. He moves to Tokyo trying to be musician in romantic pop but ends up in death metal indie scene which his other personality Krauser kicks in and he goes full death metal mode. Art: The art is good when Negishi is on stage or doing stunts as Krauser. Sound: I loved the sound from the intro song that does sound like something that should be death and the crude songs he sings. The voice acting of Krauser with his special singing moves was a highlight for me. Characters: Negishi is just a shy boy trying to still achieve his pop singing dreams but on stage he becomes demon emperor Krauser who will use any foul language and constantly be trying to rape things. The rest of the cast are supporting roles so not know is said about the cast. Enjoyment: Detroit Metal City is only 12 minute long episode's that brought a smile or make me laugh least once every episode. I would recommended DMC to anyone who want a laugh.

I really love the story of DMC and so far it's been great. What gets me about the show is that it really just takes the images from the manga and adds movement to them. I don't know how standard this practice is because I haven't seen a ton of anime, but it there was nothing new to the show from the manga. I understand that the manga is the anime's source material, but at least some production value and giving the show some decent animation would have made it tons better for me.

A Metalheads review of Detroit Metal City 🤘 What does Corpsegrinder, Chuck Schuldiner, Alex Terrible, Will Ramos, Phil Bozeman have in common? They're all frontmans for legendary Death Metal bands and on stage they're batshit insane. This anime captures that exact over the top stage persona of these frontmans through the daily life of Soichi Negishi, a shy, soft-spoken guy who loves gentle Swedish pop music and dreams of becoming a pop musician. But instead of that life, he ends up as the flamboyant death-metal frontman Johannes Krauser II — lead singer and face of the vulgar, over-the-top metal band Detroit Metal City. The comedy centers around the clash between his gentleness and his outrageous stage persona. And somehow the anime never fails to deliver a punchline through it's grotesque sense of humour and over the top portrayal of extreme Death Metal scene. This animes main charm is it's use of Metal scene norms and stage persona to elevate a joke into a visual satirical piece of gem. The pacing is solid and the characters do not drag down the storyline. All of the major characters live and die for the pit and the DMC fanbase takes every misunderstanding to a ritualistic act of serving their one true Emperor from Hell. It's a great watch if you're looking for a gag humour parody type of show. The only thing I would say to keep watch for is the repetitive jokes on sexual harassment and abusive behaviour but if you've been keeping up with Metal scene you'd know that these things aren't too uncommon in Metal industry. The anime takes these sensitive issues and presents them in a comic relief trope. And also the music, specially the guitar riffs in this anime is disgusting (a compliment). It's a must watch if you're a fan of Extreme music and weird Japanese humour.

"My c*nt is soo wet." Detroit Metal City, a series that's one of the funniest. It will have you rolling around with laughter (even potentially dying). The main character is very interesting, he really shows off the duality of the nature a human has. From the sweet boy from the country-side to the public rapist of Tokyo,Negishi never fails to amaze. The show has an AMAZING soundtrack. The animation suits the show perfectly, it exhibits how simplicity can be good if applied properly. The musical references in the show itself is also quite good. Overall, if you looking for a show that is short but impactful, check out Detroit Metal City. You'll definitely be shedding tears(of laughter). 10/10. (6'4"btw)

Detroit Metal City surprises, shocks, and cracks us up. Anime heavily uses dark visual gags, offensive dialogues, and slapsticks. It employs a stereotypical image of death metal to satirize people’s perceptions of the musical genre in the society. But what defines its humor is Negishi’s sense of embarrassment and lack of self-acceptance towards his inner self. Negishi is a college graduate who loves Swedish pop and is passionate to pursue his dream of starting a pop band. Events take a different turn when he ends up being the lead vocalist of Detroit Metal City, a Death Metal band. He undertakes the stage name Krauser II and portrays a polar opposite persona of him. Krauser II is expected to be obnoxious, violent, abusive, and a misogynist. Krauser II is not just a band persona but also a part of Negishi’s hidden personality. Anime begins with Negishi’s guilt of joining a death metal band. He is constantly soaked in shame and embarrassment for making this choice. Throughout the anime, he is conscious of what people are thinking about him. He is aware of people’s perception towards Death Metal and his strong people-pleasing tendency makes it harder for him to accept his reality. Negishi’s dual personalities are always in conflict with each other. He tries to suppress his emotions during tense situations. In most cases, he fails and his personality switches with that of Krauser hidden within him. Krauser’s violent and abusive behavior makes situations unpredictable, hilarious and at times worst. In certain moments, there is a deliberate switch between his personality, especially when Negishi feels hurt, he lets Krauser take over him. But what generates humor is Negishi’s complete denial of Krauser within him. He is constantly covering up for Krauser’s behavior to avoid judgments from society. Negishi has an intolerance towards grotesques, wild and ugly. However, such intolerance contradicts when Kauser takes over and this forms the crux of humor within the anime. But what’s truly humorous is that anime satirizes human urge to fit into the society. Negishi is one single face representing every other face that tries to suppress its inner self which consequently comes out in inappropriate times.

Fuck I love this anime. I can't even begin to think how much I've rewatched it with various friends. It's just got such a unique feel to, the music is great (that OP gets me EVERY TIME), I really just love the whole story, and my only complaint is that it is too short without a fulfilling ending (though an awesome one, regardless). The characters are fucking unique (I love the president xD) the... you know what.... see it for your damn self, watch this shit or Krauser-san will come from Hell and rape and murder your family while he forces you to watch. xD

As an ex-metalhead, I'd adore such a show back in high school. DMC is a shining example of over the top, violent and vulgar humor. Plain and simple, it's on your face! Show doesn't even care about making some character development or creating an interesting plot, which is understandable because it's pretty short. Just 12 episodes and each episode consists of 10 to 12 minutes. The protagonist is as bland as you can get. He's a shy and naive guy who wants to be a pop singer. However, he has a secret life that he despises, which is being an underground death metal god. Our guy is a frontman in a metal band called DMC and his stage name is Krauser. Krauser is more than just a name though, it's a persona. Unlike his original personality, he becomes the personification of chaos who's against everything humanity holds dear. His songwriting revolves around two themes, rape and murder. Yeah, this show doesn't shy away from making jokes about these concepts. Be aware of that. Even though how Souchi, the main character, hates his career, he cannot abandon this life because Krauser is much more than a stage show. He's the mere display of his inner anger and frustration. Whenever things don't go his way, Krauser comes out of nowhere like an alter ego and literally fuck shit up! It's one of the funniest aspects of this show, how hilarious and random it is. Also, what I love about the anime is the fans of the band. They remind me of those nutjob Slayer(my favorite thrash metal band) fans that literally carve the name of the band to their arms and backs. These die-hard fans glorify and praise every demented act of Krauser, also explain and analyze it. Krauser frantically humps something, or anything, even the fucking Tokyo Tower, fans are there by his side and astounded by what he does. They shout "Krauser-san!" at the top of their lungs all the time and it's such a comedy gold. Both Krauser and his fans are such a funny, exaggerated and ironically accurate representations of some of the extreme metal bands in real life. These metal bands desperately try to become so extreme, just for the sake of it and they end up being hilarious. I'm looking at you, most of the black metal bands. By the way, I love metal music and metalheads are wholesome people. Just to clarify. There are some memorable characters such as the drummer, punk girl band, rapper guy and so on. However, my favorite is manager of the band. She's an aggressive sex maniac that loves violence and death. She literally gets wet when Krauser unleashes his full potential but not like having a crush on him, just with a kick-ass pleasure. The way she says "fuck" gets me every time. After all this praise, why it's not a 10/10 show? Because it's way too short and not that impactful. Rather than a main course, it feels like a sweet snack. It's good but doesn't leave you a lasting impression. And I think that was the intention of the creators of this show. They just wanted to make this anime as a love letter to the metal music and the fanbase. Nothing more than that. I respect that. Still, it does what it does best. Which is fucking shit up! Stay strong fellow metalheads!

WATCH THIS. I AM SERIOUS. JUST DO IT. Boy has dreams of making happy pretty music. Boy ends up in KISS-ish face paint and sings songs of Satan. INTRIGUED YET? This series made me think of cheese tarts, dry humping the Tokyo Tower, checkered shirts, orgasms, cows.. COME ON ALREADY! WATCH THIS. I tried watching the live-action movie. I came back to the anime almost immediately and re-watched it twice. This one makes me LOL. So good. "Amai amai amai amai.. ko hi bi to.." will be stuck in your skull for a while. Or in my case, forever I think. And I ain't mad about it.

Art: As indie as the bands featured in the series, lo-fi but in a dope way, love the band’s costumes & corpse paint (but what’s the character on Soichi/Krauser II’s head mean?) Sound: Brutal Characters: Soichi Negishi, known to Tokyo’s Independent music scene as Krauser II of DMC, juggles life in the mosh pit with his bandmates, violent manager, and hordes of devoted fans with the pursuit of love interest and former classmate Yuri, who finds DMC “scary”. Story: Since this is a character-driven show, the story revolves around Soichi’s double life. Misc: Given that the topic is DEATH Metal, the content of this show will NOT sit well with everyone. From the lyrics involving dismemberment, murder and rape, to scenes involving bodily fluids, this IS a rather vulgar program. View at your own risk. Overall: It’s like a Japanese version of Metalocalypse, if Nathan Explosion was a self conscious hipster underneath the Corpse Paint; A strange, wild, brutal experience. 9/10

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT UP DONE BEFORE I MURDER YOUR FUCKING FAMILY AFTER THIS REVIEW. IF YOU WANNA WATCH DEATH METAL ANIME THEN HERE YOU FUCKING GO. THIS ANIME IS NOT FOR PUSSIES WHO GET SCARED OF HEAVY DISTORTION AND EAR RAPING OR EVEN ACTUAL RAPING. SO GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS PAGE IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE ANY OF THAT SHIT. THE REASON WHY I'M TYPING ALL CAPS IS BECAUSE THE ADRENALINE FROM WATCHING THIS SHOW HASN'T STOP UNTIL NOW. IS THAT BAD? GOD DAMN I'VE NEVER FELT ANY BETTER IN ANY OTHER FUCKING SECOND OF MY WORTHLESS LIFE. THIS SHOW IS FULL OF PROFANITIES SO YOU BETTER NOT COVER YOUR PUSSY EARS WHEN WATCHING THIS. IF YOU WANNA HEAR 10 RAPES IN ONE SECOND, THEN THIS ANIME IS FOR YOU. NOW GET ON WATCHING BEFORE I MURDER YOU AND GRAB YOUR FACE FROM THAT FUCKING SCREEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT. ... ... ... Well I'm really sorry for that violent and profane review or something. Well that's a symbolism of what this anime is about. This is what happens when you have a job that you don't really want to do and is contrasting on what you really want to do. Alter-egos are one of the funniest sketches in comedy and that's what this show is about. If you want to have a good laugh and don't really mind heavy metal or death metal music, then this show might be one for you to watch. The episodes are short so you don't have to waste too much time on this series. The animation is kinda wack but I think it fits the comedy genre really well. DMC is very enjoyable so don't forget to have fun watching.

Detroit metal city is a succinct piece of comedy that leaves no time wasted to meaningless fluff, as it uses every minute possible to give the audience a hell of a performance from beginning to end. It has production values that work well within the shows parameters giving it a feel of a manga that has come to life, or an anime that looks similar to a manga. It has directing where the aspect ratio of the shows is constantly fluctuating ethier to give it a manga feel or the director really wanting the audience to only focusing on the important thing, and leaving everything else ass pointless fluff not worth putting in the show. While metal might be in the name if the show, it’s not the only music genre the show puts out as it has a mix of rap, punk, pop, and several other genres to have a more broader scope about music. The plot may at times come off as predictable but it doesn’t take away to how haywire the show becomes. The characters can also come off as being flat which could be because most of it is happening from the main character's perspective, and/or it’s short run time so there’s no real point in adding any more to some of the characters as it would take away from other parts of the show. Of course the main draw of this show is its comedy which it waste no time on doing. The show has its fair share of vulgarity and slapstck which is expected from a show such as this. However what had me most intrigued was its satire on performing arts in music especially focusing on that of metal. While this first part is more of a parody its more of a stepping off point, and that’s how it’s very similar to the band Kiss. it’s very apparent from the way the band members dress for the show, the name of the band being a spoof of one of their songs, and the crazy performances that they do which Kiss is very well known for. The real satire comes from the separation of the art (the band members personas and performances), and the artist being the actual band members themselves. Because on stage the main character is known as Krauser some hardcore metal player who has probably done many terrible things in his life, but outside that persona Negishi a dopey boy who grew up in the country with a good up being who aspires to make light pop songs. The show makes it clear by these two distinctions as Negishi has to juggle his two lives like some weird version of hannah montana. It just a fun look at how most people especially performers aren’t really who they present themselves to their fan to be, almost like a facade that some of them buy into and the bizarre performance only heighten that idea. Not only is this presented on negishi, but also to other performers that are present in the show as well. However it’s not like the show is mean spirited and that everything you like about this is phony. Instead it has sentimentality placed within the show via some of the characters from the people making the music to the fans themselves. Even Negishi at moments will get caught up in certain moments and become krauser showing that even if he believes it may be a facade there is still a part of him that is the character at heart. Sadly the show ended and while it did leave a good enough end, there was still stuff worth examining in the show that is worth an encore. However that never came to be. Nonetheless the show is good enough for anyone's time if they are in for a good laugh, and short enough that it doesn’t go dry by the end

Warning possible Spoilers As I've said in the past, I'm not a person who listens to a specific music type so after watching anime's that focus on Orchestral, Jazz and Rock music it was time to try out Metal. Story (8/10) Since this an OVA there isn't really going to be a strong story, but for what this anime offered it was actually pretty damn good since it focuses on Souichi Negishi, who wanted to become a musician, but ended up being in a heavy metal band which he hates being in. The interesting thing about the story is Negishi himself, true there is other aspects, but the focus on his character was really well done, mainly because of his different sides since his normal side doesn't want to be in the band and instead he wanted to make more cheerful music, but he has played in the band so long it has created a split personality within him, which during some points in the show make him do horrible things although luckily he immediately apologises and gets away with his actions. I liked how it also focused on the fierce competition that different musicians have to overcome like popularity, criticism and other rival musicians including their own fanbase, these instances did lead to some pretty epic standoffs especially the finale standoff with Jack ILL Dark however I felt like the standoffs were lacking in length because they would begin and end very quickly. The story does in some way lead to an endgame point, but it makes me want more, because some things felt like they were unfinished or just hadn't been focused on. Characters (8/10) Now as far as characters go the main focus is on Negishi, who outside his alter ego Johannes Krauser II he is really a sweet and nice guy who just wants to make his own music, sadly though must people don't like it and over time he starts to become more focused on the DMC, making his alter ego take over more and because of this it has caused a few problems, however he still hasn't lost track of who he is and still wants to make his own music someday. Masayuki Wada, Terumichi Nishida and Keisuke Nashimoto are the other band members, sadly this is pretty much all you know about them because they don't get that much focus in the show I mean Nashimoto gets half an episode for himself, mainly due to his masochism, but Wada and Nishida really don't get anything other than Wada being a ladies man and Nishida being a creepy pervert which is all you'll know about this two. Death Records Manager otherwise known as President is alongside Negishi the best character of the show, mainly due to her vulgar nature since she doesn't care about what the boys do as long as it gets her money or makes her feel wet, everytime she's in a scene she makes the whole show 10 times funnier. Yuri Aikawa is a girl who befriended Negishi in College because she liked his music, however she doesn't like DMC which makes Negishi incredibly worried if she ever finds out his alter ego, overall there isn't much to say about her character other than being used for a romance sub-plot. Art (9/10) What I most definitely like about the art is the design of the characters especially their costumes, they really resemble the heavy metal band Kiss which is probably what the costumes were based on, it definitely captures the image of a classic heavy metal band and I like the style of the art too mainly because it captures that grim, dirty look which fits the show perfectly. Sound (10/10) Despite the lyrics of DMC being pretty vulgar and weird I really liked the tune of the music, it felt real and captured the true essence of a heavy metal band plus I also liked how it also had a bit of rap in there too along with other musical elements. The op wasn't too bad either considering it definitely shows what you're getting into. Extras: Now if there was one thing that definitely surprised me throughout the whole show is the comedy, it was funny, weird, vulgar and really unpredictable and the best example has to be when Negishi/Krauser snorted up a giant loogie and spat it into someones mouth, what's even worse though is that the guy ate it which made me cringe out of my seat, yet another great example for the comedy is the President herself who always keeps creating crazy situations or saying weird stuff that just made every scene she was in pure gold. Enjoyment (9/10) Overall this was a surprisingly fun and entertaining OVA, it had great music, good characters and fantastic comedy so if you're someone looking for a short OVA with some heavy metal to listen to then get this on you're to watch list.

This is my first review, so bear with me, I am also new to anime in general, so pardon if my review is not couture enough to anyone. Anyway, the story get's a 9: Mainly because the story was engaging enough, it showed the persona of a boy who is a fan of Light hearted melodies, whilst actually being the front man for a hardcore, brutal death metal band. However, I found that the first two episodes were more a chore and seemed to drag on, not to mention misleading. Art also get's a 9: Mainly because there are moments where I couldn't help but think "This seems badly misconstructed" or "The background just didn't fit the purpose" whilst a lot of the scenes were like that, the purpose was fit, there were situations where it felt really was out of place. Sound get's a 10: I have to say, I am not a huge death metal fan, but this anime actually felt good, despite my distaste for death metal, I enjoyed and actually wished I knew Japanese so I could sing along. The voices at the first episode happens to be very misleading, but those are just two voices at a small part of the episode. Character happens to get a 9: I found the characters were all really great, well constructed, and didn't have too much backdrop to it, considering it's a 12 episode story and no one likes entire episodes just lazily constructed on past events (Example being: Deathnote episode 29) . However, I had to give this a 9 because the protagonist of this story just can't help being a whiny bitch, he doesn't seem to quit at one point and become the death metal god he is destined to be, he just lazily bitches, and moans. The enjoyment get's a 10: I have to say, I don't laugh at a lot of "comedy" anime's, but this one is special, I couldn't help but laugh at the weird combinations that were beset when it came from persona to persona, but the constant swearing, and the weird antics of everyone, got fresher per episode (except the manager). Overall, I give it a 10, despite the outweigh of 9 being 3:2, I just enjoyed it to a level that I didn't expect, at first I thought "Oh geez, this sure looks amateur" but later into it I realized the art and the fact that I was like that.

Detroit Metal City: The Best Comedy Anime Ever! Absurd Humor and Sharp Satire: Detroit Metal City is one of the best comedy anime I've ever watched. Its absurd humor and sharp satire had me laughing out loud. The anime doesn't shy away from poking fun at everything from the music industry to fandom culture. Engaging Story and Memorable Characters: The story of Detroit Metal City is not only funny but also engaging and thought-provoking. We follow the adventures of Souichi Negishi, a quiet young man who secretly has a brutal alter ego named Johannes Krauser II, the famous death metal vocalist! The characters in this anime are just as interesting as the story. Each character has a unique and unforgettable personality, especially Negishi/Krauser II. His interactions with his fanatic fans and eccentric bandmates always make you laugh and are full of unexpected funny moments. Conclusion: Detroit Metal City is a must-watch comedy anime for anyone looking for entertainment and reflection. It's funny, entertaining, meaningful, and unforgettable! Recommendation: I highly recommend this anime to anyone looking for entertainment and critical reflection. It is suitable for adults and teenagers who enjoy absurd humor and satire.

I like to keep my reviews short and sweet. The anime is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Most anime don't dare to use vulgar language or sexual innuendos in such a bold way. This anime throws all of that out of the window. There are references to sex, violence, drugs, and everything in between. The characters are funny, and the main character is absolutely hilarious. The best part is watching the main character trying to balance everyday life with his heavy metal alternate persona. I highly recommend this anime for anyone trying to have a good time.

DMC is the epidemy of all-metal band's normal concerts, the obsess fanatics with the band. The comedy of the anime is over the top it has a few outdated jokes that would be too much for new generations but is still very enjoyable the dark humor and insensitive jokes. The duality of the main character is the best, throw out the anime he was a denial of he's real self follow a long lost dream of being a pop artist when in reality he's a metal artist piece of garbage. It was a great time for such short anime the music was amazing and the characters very over the top with unique personalities
