I want to keep this short. Firstly thank you for this amazing anime 'Mainichi Broadcasting System, Kodansha, NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, Avex Pictures, Q-Tec, East Japan Marketing & Communications, GYAO!' I had a blast watching this, i laughed so much sometimes it hurt. it saddens me that its not ended and i don't have much hope in a season 2. This anime is one of a kind for me, an anime with actual legal age students basically living the life. no dark twists, no sad back story. it really is unique to my knowledge. I don't actually know how well this anime did in japan, and i doubt they care that much about its popularity in the west, but if we could please have a season 2 it would make my anime year. This anime isnt great for its story, it's great for the way it makes you feel.

What a class act this show is. Such a crazy good time. I don't think there was a single bad episode. Some better than others obviously, but all of them had me rolling more than a few times. This show had me hooked from the word go, ngl. From the first episode until the finale credits I was enthralled, this show is without a doubt one of the best anime comedies I've ever seen. It's really good. This show is something else. Gonna be high up for AOTY in my book. The characters were so much fun. Everyone at Peek A Boo was such a blast to see. Iori was an awesome lead whom I connected to more than I expected I would. He's actually a genuinely good guy, who also knows how to cut loose and have fun when the time calls for it, and sometimes even when it doesn't, haha. Him and Kohei are such bros, I love their constant bickering and "fighting", great friends all around. Of course the ladies of the show were awesome too, Chisa is a great tsundere and I wuv her, Aina was a sweety who made me laugh a ton, Azusa is a sexy minx who has a good heart too, and of course the siscon Nanaka was great. The club elders were awesome too. I don't think there'd a single character I hated or even mildly disliked. They were all great in some way. The strength of this show for me was absolutely it's writing and comedic timing. It was just about perfect. Everything clicked with the comedy really. I laughed more here than I have any other anime comedy I think. Every episode was so good with that. From oolong tea to vegetables up butts, it was hilarious to see every week. It's hard to describe comedy in a bubble but Damn this one had me rolling way too many times to count or get across as well at it deserves. Overall I loved this show, that's no surprise really though. Been gushing about it every week. It's amazing really. Easy giving it this score. 10/10.

Four words: "WTF am I watching right now?!" That's what you are going to think while you watch this series. [Only ep 1 spoilers on the review] The central part of this anime is the comedy. If you are not interested in funny moments, don't watch this. But if you want a random anime with a lot of funny moments, this is your show, so drink this Oolong tea! Every episode shows the spectator how the characters gain confidence with each other and do the craziest things in a university setting (nudes in class, escaping from the police, parties with a lot of alcoholic drinks). Of course, there is the story of the scuba diving club, the main plot of the anime. The members make the main character, Iori Kitahara, join and party with them throughout the show. Iori starts university and comes to live with his uncle and cousins at a scuba diving shop (Chisa and Nanaka). Chisa studies the same major as Iori and she is part of the scuba diving club. For some reason, she hates the main character, which gives the viewer a lot of comedic situations. In the next episodes, the spectator meets new characters with different personalities, creating many entertaining circumstances. If you don't have any better show to watch or you don't want to watch a serious show, go ahead and watch Grand Blue. It will help you relax.

The reason for the 10 rating is the Absurdity of Grand Blue and I don't think many would argue on this....The most hilarious anime I have ever seen.... This is an anime where you don't look for logic and story but just enjoy whatever is going on...There is no story and no character development but only chaos and Absurdity, and that is what makes Grand Blue so special..they took responsibility for one thing (making the viewers laugh and Forget the tension) and they completely nailed it... Really one of the best humourous anime out there... And surely this is an anime which you can never watch in public or on a big screen because the nudity is the very essence of this anime which adds to the Absurdity..

This show is reminiscent of American sitcoms: characters get together inside a space, and the plot revolves around either setting up a joke or delivering a punchline. There are some more serious moments, but they’re few and far between. There is a vibe of an instructional video sometimes because there are scenes of straight‑up diving talk, but they are integrated into the comedy, so it does not overwhelm you. Characters are mostly caricatures of different stereotypes that are prominent in anime. The sense of humor is, of course, subjective, so if you enjoy the play on stereotypes and gag humor in a show about college kids getting together to have a drink and get up to all sorts of shenanigans, then you will enjoy this show.

So listen to me guys, its not the heart breaking comedy as GTO but this is the funniest shit after... NO NOT AFTER IT IS FUNNY AS PRISON SCHOOL ILL PUT MY LIFE ON YHE LINE FOR THAT, this is the funniest anime I ever watched after so much time like this is the comedy gem of animes, the character relationships are good, character design is good besides those friends of main character group but the problem is this is a full comedy anime only focus is comedy and they did it really fine but there is no other feelings maybe getting hyped up is the second feeling that this show gives me but nah it cant make you sad it cant give you romantic feelings it cant give you fulfillment. In the end this is the stomach aching anime that you should watch. Besides Nanaka every single one of the characters are sick in their minds and when this people gets in the same room man this is funnier than anything

*A Hilarious and Lovably Absurd Masterpiece: Why You NEED to Watch Grand Blue!* "Grand Blue" was a name whose hilarious meme-like images I'd seen all over social media for ages, without ever knowing their source. Finally, I got the chance to watch this incredible anime, and what an incredibly enjoyable and laugh-out-loud experience it was! If you're looking for an anime that will make you forget all your worries for a while and just immerse you in pure laughter, "Grand Blue" is definitely your go-to. It's delightfully absurd, incredibly funny, and utterly entertaining. Story and Comedy (Story Score: 8.5): The primary goal of "Grand Blue" is to deliver comedy in its purest form, and I must say, it completely nails it. The story revolves around Iori Kitahara's college life and his chaotic entry into the insane world of scuba diving and his bizarre friends. While comedy is the main focus, this simple premise is more than enough to create endless comedic situations. The anime cleverly uses even the scuba diving training scenes to generate incredibly funny moments that genuinely had me bursting with laughter. Although the romance element is subtle, its presence adds to the story's charm, striking a good balance between hilarious moments and a touch of sweetness. Characters (Character Development Score: 8.25): The characters in "Grand Blue" are one dumber than the next, yet at the same time, incredibly lovable! The interesting, friendly, and often quarrelsome relationships among the diving club members are the core appeal of this anime. These "idiot friends," despite all their madness, share a genuine and strong bond, which makes even the most unbelievable characters endearing. I personally really enjoy absurd and funny characters in anime, and "Grand Blue" certainly delivered on that front, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. Animation and Design (Animation Score: 8): Considering its production year, "Grand Blue"'s animation is genuinely good and fluid. The character designs, and especially the meme-like animations used to enhance the comedic effect, significantly elevate the anime's humor. This visual style perfectly complements the anime's frantic and hilarious atmosphere, making the funny moments even funnier. Sound and Music (Sound Score: 8): The music and background scores of the anime fit its mood well. The opening theme has a great song, though its visuals could have been more creative. The ending theme is also genuinely amusing and memorable. However, what truly stands out in the sound department is the extraordinary performance of the voice actors. The cast members in this anime are among the elite and most famous in the voice acting industry, and their professional and incredibly engaging performances breathe new life into the characters. Their ability to convey the characters' humor and madness is truly commendable and adds immensely to the anime's overall appeal. Points That Could Be Improved: Honestly, "Grand Blue" doesn't have any major flaws that would significantly detract from the viewing experience. However, I can point out a few minor things: * The amount of fan service might be a bit much for some viewers, though in my opinion, it fits the comedic content of the anime. * Some behaviors, like excessive alcohol consumption, might be perceived as unpleasant by certain groups. * The opening visuals could have been more dynamic and engaging. * The somewhat underdeveloped romance might be a slight disappointment for fans of the genre, though I don't think it harms the overall story. * The ending of the first season could have been a bit stronger, but since it seems the manga hasn't concluded and we're eagerly awaiting a second season, it's not a major drawback. Conclusion and Recommendation (Overall Score: 8.2): "Grand Blue" is an incredibly well-produced, lovable, and endlessly hilarious anime that is by no means cliché. If you're looking for a "complete break" from the hustle and bustle of the world and want to enjoy a series that brings no worries to your mind or heart, "Grand Blue" is an excellent choice. I highly recommend this anime, especially to those who, like me, enjoy comedic and absurd anime and are looking for something to just laugh at and enjoy. I am immensely excited to see the next season of this anime and re-experience the incredible joy of watching such a good series and a strong comedy anime!

Holy cow, Grand Blue is an absolute riot! This "diving" anime (yeah right, more like a drinking anime with occasional diving scenes 😂) had me crying with laughter even on my third rewatch. The way it portrays college life is hilariously over-the-top - from the spontaneous stripping contests to the increasingly ridiculous drinking games. Every episode is packed with perfect comedic timing and facial expressions that just kill me. Whether you're into college comedies or just need a good laugh, Grand Blue delivers. Just don't expect actual diving lessons... unless your diving instructor is a half-naked dude trying to make you drink "water" that's definitely not water!

Laughing is the best way to fucking forget you're problems. This anime makes my humour broken, choking on air, making people get ear cancer by my laugh. This anime shows you that you'll get a fun life when every thing is fucked up. Grand Blue is one of the best comedy anime I've watched. In the anime it tells you the main protagonist, Kitahara Iori (20). Moves to his uncle place, Diving Shop Grand Blue. Iori is a collage freshman, he is very sirious about collage. But apparently Iori got forced to join a Diving club, and the members are just alcoholic people stripping around. It's crazy to think that thers many members. Iori eventually starts to drink and strips with his club members and partying all day, it became his daily life drinking and stripping all day. Well yeah they still dive tho. And let me tell you.. when they get mad or laugh they're face looks like a titan and it's hilarious. The voice and the facial expressions paired well. The anime was really entertaining for me. For those who enjoy comedy animes should really try it

I watched this anime in 2017. The first impression when I saw the key visual of this anime I immediately thought this anime is an anime with a serious drama genre without comedy. you know what I mean something like: Yuri!! on Ice, Kuroko no Basket, Ahiru no Sora, and Free!. because basically i don't like sports anime, so i kinda doubt this anime. Plus, in the key visuals, there are many naked muscular male characters (Tokita and Kotobuki) that make me even more doubtful hahaha. To answer my curiosity about this anime, I tried watching the first episode. and it turns out that this anime is different from what I thought. After watching this anime I immediately thought that I had found a masterpiece. the crazy comedy in every episode always makes me laugh. this anime can change the mindset for you anime lovers who are only looking for anime with stories centered on kawaii characters or moe heroines. I will not spoil this anime, so please watch this anime. my rating: 1. Stories (10) This anime is actually a comedy genre anime with a diving theme. The comedy presented by the author is insane, beyond reason and hard to predict. the comedy does not arise from one character, but from all characters. 2. Art (10) Why did I give 10 to art when the graphics are not as perfect as other anime? try to imagine, comedy anime with graphics like Kimi no Nawa or Tenki no Ko. it would definitely detract from the comedy. I think the art in anime is not just detailed graphics. but the point is the match between the story and the visuals. I like when they are angry or fighting, their faces change instantly to be weird hahaha especially Tokita's face when serving a tennis ball turns 180° 3. Sound (10) I won't go into detail about the sound, the opening music fits perfectly with the anime. the ending music is also very funny, kawaii idol songs are sung by naked men (Iori and Kohei) and cheered by muscular men (Tokita and Kotobuki). 4. Characters (10) Each character in this anime has their own characteristics. ah, maybe not the characteristics but the uniqueness. each character has its own uniqueness. 5. Enjoyment (10) of course I really enjoy it, I will not praise at length if I feel I do not enjoy this anime. 6. Overall (10) Story + Art + Sound + Characters + Enjoyment = 10/10 I highly recommend this anime. thanks for reading, see you!

Lowkey one of the best animes out there. The comedy is just so good and the characters are awesome as well. The only negative thing is that there's no second season. The story is.. good, but there's sometimes not much progress, although no episodes can be counted as a filler, as all the characters come back later on and are important. Besides, the show is so much fun I wouldn't mind watching some filler. Now, the art. The art is very good in some scenes like the ocean diving ones and the faces are just hilarious. I wouldn't say it's exactly "unique" as Iori sometimes looks like Eren in his titan form, but that can hardly be considered not unique. Thankfully, the manga is still on-going so I can still enjoy some.. *ahem* naked men partying and some... "water".

(Honestly, I'm not too fluent in English and this is my first review of any anime, so do not expect much from me.) So Grand Blue is an entertaining comedy anime about a guy who just enrolled in college and moved to his uncle's house after graduating from high school. He expected college life to be great. However, things went wrong a little bit. I mean, walking into your new house, you saw a bunch of naked men. That seems fairly normal, right? That is certainly how Grand Blue is best described. I enjoyed the story and animation immensely. The voice actors did a wonderful job, especially given its ridiculous nature. This is one anime that truly made me laugh to the top of my lungs. This is the best comedy anime out there in my humble opinion. Probably gonna read the manga soon. Overall enjoyment: 10/10

Grand Blue ... what to talk about Grand Blue ... Besides that it is one of the best animes of its kind that I have watched this year! The anime is simply incredibly well produced, with a very, very well done comedy. I would say that this anime has 3 points that support this anime as one of the best of its generation. First, Comedy, which is really good, is very well done with hilarious and unexpected situations that simply can't help but laugh. These situations are generated by the second point, the Characters, who are really good. The interactions between them are so natural and funny that the viewer simply cannot dislike them. Be it for Chisa's indifferent way and the funniest moments possible with Iori, or for the inseparable friends of Iori, Shinji and Ryuujirou that right after the first episode, as soon as they meet him, that chase scene happens or even because of the incredible friendship of Iori and the kouhei! That same friendship that is one of those classic anime friends that fight, compete and scold each other all the time, but that deep down they love being friends with each other and having a good time in their lives doing things more fun as possible. Characters very well placed in the anime, each with their unique and incredible personality, I just can't find a character in this anime that I didn't like only very good and funny characters like Azusa's relaxed and extroverted way, the shy way of Aina, the funny, strange and passionate way that Nanako looks at her sister Chisa or besides Kouhei, the way the rest of Iori's friends, almost kill him whenever they suspect that he has advanced with the relationship with Chisa. The characters are very good, but going back to what I was talking about before, the third point that makes this anime a grade 10 anime, is the approximation of reality. It is amazing how much the creators of Grand Blue manage to mix comedy with reality so naturally in an anime. For example, anime as everyone knows is focused on a diving group, and diving is not cheap to do, there are many expenses, many expenses, a lot of money involved. And what do the characters do when they have no money? They will work, of course! All the time in this anime we see them getting part-time jobs or even when they run a contest to raise money. They are very much in line with reality in a way that not many anime can recreate. In short, Grand Blue is an anime grade 10, which manages to explore its genre and initial idea wonderfully, it is not one of those anime that has a very good idea at the beginning and then gets lost in the script itself, quite the contrary, they manage improve the comedy and interactions of the characters with each episode. Simply a work of art.

It's very good. I came from a place of seeing only clips of the silliness, thinking it might be another mindless show with great art, but.. it blew me away. Sure, it's very silly at parts, but it's balanced with moments of focus to re-ground you. As a big ++ it's not based in high school. It's also only one of few shows I actually watched the intro and outro on; the singers really capture the carefree spirit well. The overall story slowly works towards an end goal, while not a grand world- shaking one, it is realistic and things play out as naturally as possible through an anime. The characters are a bit deeper than skin- level, have defining personalities, and truly feel like different characters. I would highly recommend this.

This is the first review I have ever written on myanimelist, and probably the only one I will ever write. Grand Blue is the most enjoyable and uplifting anime I have ever seen. It exudes this great relaxed vibe which I cant find in any other show. Most people review this anime conforming to their western, physical notions of anime. Most comedy anime are confined by the pace of the plot and the confines of 2-dimensional media, it is extraordinary how this show has done so well in this regard. I could compare it to Asobi Asobase and Prison School with its genre of comedy. Grand Blue's source material is my favorite mangaof all time and ranks among the most enjoyable series I've consumed. I would recommend it as a continuation to this series.

How could I forget to write a Review of one of the best Anime of 2018?!. To me that is. But hear me out before you remove this from your List's. Grand Blue is not like any other anime out there, Actually it kinda is. It is set in a diving place where you will live and get into wholesome diving while enjoying College Life! IS what the synopsis made me think, but boy was I wrong! Iori is immediately met with such misfortune, witnessing several naked men in his new abode, and the worst part was that he was swept up with their tomf*ckery and got drunk on power... Literally that is, he literally woke up in his new school somewhat naked. Does that sound like a bad revenge anime to you? Not to me. The comedy isn't light, but the Humor suits the show extremely well, you could almost say that the jokes were meant for this anime. But that's not all. The Characters were a delight to witness, they were extremely dumb, but they was a bit of realism in their dumbness, like a certain amount of stupidity that a regular human could pull off. Each person in this show has their own motives, and they make it very clear the longer you watch it. College life is tough, this show has shown me that side of it. But College can also be fun depending on if you have the right people hanging around with you. The Senpai's may be drunkards at times, but they are also people, they have jobs and future careers to think about, yet they still have the time to oblige their Kouhai's to make sure they have a great college life despite theirs ending. Seeing this show from beginning to end, it made me love the show every episode of the way. I have a newfound respect for the Seniors who I only saw as nuisances at first. But I never disliked any of them. The Comedy is around the same as Gintama in that level, I nearly choked from laughing. The anime will also sometimes make you see friendship in a better way. Because some bonds will never be broken. Buuuut than again, I wasn't wrong when I said there was naked men and Tomf*ckery soooooo. 10/10. Some emotions just can't be expressed through words.

I found it hard to find, but one I found it truly is a 10/10. (it's on amazon prime btw) It was an amusing show and would well suggest a watch. it was a very fun anime to watch and (me being a teen) I enjoyed the sexual humour in the show. now the site is asking me to add a longer review so imma just ramble. the lads are funny and relatable, but you may be abruptly shocked when they get serious for diving safety. I think that the girls could also be relatable to the girls out there but I am a man and cant really relate to some of the girls, although the show is still very funny
CrackisBae
This show really caught me off guard. Not only did it somewhat accurately explore relatively common experiences within collage life, but did so with a great twist of humor. Going in, I thought that only brief portions would be funny. "Oh how wrong I was". With optimistic outlook on drinking culture, combined with a story covering a wide arrange of topics and plot points. All adding together to create a great piece of satirical comedy. Keeping you laughing the whole way through. Characters each developed throughout the show really helped cover the wide array of people you may find in such a area of life. While overall sound design may not be the greatest, voice acting for each character helped capture the vibe of the show. Art style is well done in terms of what the show is trying to achieve. Catching you off-guard many times for a cheap laugh. This show is a great, relatable show that can be enjoyed by anyone of a relevant age. Truly encapsulating the overall feel of collage life with a comedic tone that could only ever exist in anime.

Honestly, I went into this anime with decently high expectations after having it recommended to me, and seeing it rated an 8.5 on MAL, and well, those expectations certainly weren't met. However, I'm not going to attempt to bomb it with a 3 or lower (like some individuals on this site) just because my experience with the show wasn't indicative of the score I saw on it. No, in truth, I did find Grand Blue decently enjoyable, and while I wouldn't give it anything above a 7, I definitely don't want to attempt to turn you away from it. Story: 6, Honestly, this score feels a bit generous, however it's a comedy that is focused on being a comedy, so I'm not going to be overly critical on the story, as comedies are more concerned with their ability to make you laugh than getting you wrapped up in some incredibly intricate story. There's a story here, its about a freshman in college getting roped into a diving club, where they dive into bottles of alcohol more often than they dive into the ocean, and while its not anything of great significance that's going to blow your mind, it does a good job to set-up the jokes. Art: 6, I have mixed feelings about the art in Grand Blue for a few different reasons, and let me start by pointing the finger at my own bias, that being, I am not a fan of the art used in most seinen anime. Personally, Shounen art-styles tend to be more up my alley, and I don't find the styles used in seinen to be very pleasing to the eye, and Grand Blue likes to (for the sake of comedy) make their characters into quite the grotesques from time to time. I don't have the biggest problem with grotesques (I mean, I watch One Piece, after all), but there's some genuine displeasure I feel when I see some of the faces the characters make. In most shows, it would make me laugh when there are shifts in art style shifts to bring comedy out of the characters faces, but it just looks gross and doesn't do it for me in Grand Blue. Sound: 7, I'm not going to focus too much on the VA cast. I tend to be pickier in English dubs, but this is sub only, and for me, as long as nobody sounds like the Japanese VA for Goku, I usually don't have problems with Japanese voices, but at the same time, I don't feel like the voice acting was necessarily anything to write home about. The OP and ED were both solid, and really matched the show well. Out of the two, I preferred the OP, but felt that the ED did a better job of matching the general goofiness of the show. None of the OSTS stuck out to me at all, I can't recall a single one. Character: 7, I'm giving this a 7 because I genuinely enjoyed a lot of the characters, but I feel that this score is still slightly generous as the majority of the cast has little to no depth. The problem is that there are only 12 episodes, but a much larger cast than what could have any hopes of being characterized in that time. The result is that all, but Kitahara, Chisa, and Kohei, end up feeling pretty flat. I feel like I could say maybe Asuza and the two big guys have a little more depth than some side characters, but the rest are definitely flat as hell, and really run completely off the first introduction of them, without anything ever building. I could go on about all my complaints, but at the end of the day, I did enjoy the cast, even with their undeniable flaws. Enjoyment: 7, It was a decently fun ride, but I definitely wasn't rolling on the floor with tears in my eyes from laughter. I can't really say much more, this is a pure comedy, and by that I mean, its primary focus is making you laugh, and whenever it fails to deliver on that it ends up being pretty boring. On average I'd say I got a couple laughs from every episode, but I was definitely hoping for more than what it delivered. Overall: 7, My general take away would be, don't take this show for the score that MAL users have given it, and just go in and try to enjoy. Typically when I recommend a show, I tell you to check it out or not to waste your time, but in this case, I leave that option fully up to you. I'm not going to tell you to check out Grand Blue, but I'm also not going to tell you to skip it. Why? Because honestly, I don't think I'll ever rewatch Grand Blue, but I'm not upset that I spent my time watching it either. I'm completely indifferent to it, because I honestly can't say I would've cared either way if I had never seen it.
yusufkagekira
I'm going to be fair, this is one of the funniest anime's I've seen. The plot of a guy moving for college and joining a club about diving was decent. I honestly didn't like the ending, especially since there aren't any plans for a new season, but despite that, I still think it's a funny anime. Fav scene was when the guys visited one of their friends while he has someone over, and they got pissed so tried to ruin things for him tbh. Totally suggest if you're looking for a good laugh, but not if you're looking for a good plot. Doesn't take long to finish.
