My Hero Academia Season 4

I used to be quite harsh on Boku no Hero Academia simply because I am not a fan of it, but I still need to follow the episodes so I know what I should talk about this anime without people bashing me out for criticizing it without watching. I have followed season 1, 2, and 3 and so far I was pretty satisfied only with season 3 due to all the fight scenes (especially when All Might up against All for One) were breathtaking; at least for me. Hereby, this is my very first review on Boku no Hero Academia! Story 10/10: Come to season 4, it is very emotional to watch season 4 because there are a lot of things that happened during season 4. It is very rare for a shounen movie to portray emotional moments and the story is getting more intense more than ever. This season arguably has the best story compared to all of the previous seasons. I believe this season is the most underrated season of the Boku no Hero Academia. I cannot literally see any mistake that I can pinpoint in this season. Art 8/10: For art and animation, I believe it requires some enhancement. In the Overhaul arc, some people might find (include me) to follow the fight scenes in the manga. However, I believe it was pretty much well-animated so people can enjoy it a lot better. But, I personally observe the atmosphere of the fight needs to be enhanced to display better emotions of the characters during the fights (especially during the Overhaul Arc). I might assume the animation was not made really that complex to avoid everything goes over the top, because, yes, Overhaul arc is one of the most difficult parts for me to follow, but the animation makes me understand the arc a lot of easier. Thus, I think the art and animation are pretty decent but not perfect, still enjoyable. Characters 8/10: I don't really have a great connection with the characters. I always think Boku no Hero Academia is very boring in terms of character development, the only one is granted with character development that's really crazy is Deku and nothing more. But now I understand why character development is not the forte of shounen animes. When I saw the big three of U.A. I see a lot of passion of the characters, from different background, what are their struggles, the anime has successfully portrayed all of those things. In the hero license-thingy test, I see how the friendship between the U.A. students is created, their chemistry is growing, Deku and others have more understanding in terms of becoming a hero not merely just fighting against the villain and win, which is good for the character development of the characters since I believe this is the weakness of Boku no Hero Academia in general. But, yes, it takes 3 seasons to see decent character development in my honest opinion, which is very sad. Sound 10/10: I do not need to comment much on the sound because the opening and ending were very on point, in accordance with the theme of this season. For the scoring, it creates the scenes to become more "alive" and it is pretty much expected because if we see from the manga, the fighting scenes are super intense (despite the art that makes me hard to follow the manga) and the sound enhances the scenes and make it more alive. Enjoyment 9/10: This is the first time I really enjoy watching Boku no Hero Academia, it makes me change my skeptical thoughts about mainstream shounen anime like Boku no Hero Academia because actually this show can show me some of the good elements of shounen anime! All the time that I have spent watching this show is finally worth it. Despite my favorite fight scenes exist in season 3, but hey, season 4 has its own forte which is the amazing story and I think it truly delivers! Overall 9/10: I think Boku no Hero Academia starts to grow much more in a great direction and I hope they will be more consistent because I cannot wait to see season 5! Best season so far!

This season of My Hero Academia really split me on the review. The first half of the season was absolutely terrible, while the second half was amazing. Let me explain more. Before you read on, there are some minor spoilers for the every season of My Hero Academia. For the past 3 seasons, MHA has been building up the league of villains as the main antagonist in the show. For this season, they introduce a new villain called Overhaul. The introduction of a new villain undermines everything the show has been building up until now. Not just the villain, but important character moments undermine important character moments in past seasons as well. Some characters some character development where they confront fears that us, the viewers, didn't even knew they had, but the show treats it as if it was there in the past seasons. The entire arc with Eri and Overhaul doesn't fit right with the past seasons. Removing it entirely wouldn't change much either. This arc really had no impact on the larger story. That was my thoughts about the first half, but for the second half, I absolutely loved it. The reasons behind most fights/moments in My Hero Academia are usually this: Hero has to fight, or people die. Most fights have lives on the line, and that's it. Moments in the second half of the season were more than that. Rather than the lives of people that was on the line, it was other stuff. For example, their hope for the future. After being really disappointed with the first half of the show, the second half was able to get me emotionally invested again. There were meaningful character development, and new characters were written very well. The second half did everything the first half should have done. My review for the first half would be a 6/10, for the second it would be a 10/10. Just cause I'm lazy, I'll put my overall review in the middle with an 8/10.

This was so awful that I am no longer willing to review this in any intellectual manner. BNHA was absolute gunkus ballsack smegma cake tik tok reddit wojack big chungus goo goo ga ga garbage. There are no stakes, the charaters are bland and uninteresting, and the only people that can genuinely enjoy this are probably just starting out or complete beginners in anime. That, or they've been living under a rock as they are completely oblivious to actually good shows. If you want an actually good shounen with STAKES and interesting characters, please just watch Assassination Classroom. The only thing that could redeem BNHA is if everyone got merked, probably.

What the fuck is pacing? What is non-repetitive dialogue? If I had to take a shot every time someone said "We'll save her...for sure this time", I'd have died of alcohol poisoning. This show is a far cry from what it once was. The writing formula is so offhanded. It's an endless cycle of flashbacks and needless backstory surrounding 30 seconds of actual action. It's getting old. I'll give you an example. Hazukashi. Don't know who that is? Good, you shouldn't because he had literally 37 seconds of screentime. Writers had the audacity to give him flashbacks and backstory, just to instantly get foiled by Hawks. Why bother? Why even spend ten seconds on the guy if that's all he's there to do? But wait, that's not all he's there to do. Hawks apparently heard him say one thing that kind of had something to do with the current "metahuman" Nomu problem. Now what you're probably thinking is, "So what you're saying is that they introduced a new character and gave him 37 seconds of screentime just to flimsily further the narrative?" And the answer is yes. That's the narrative device they decided to use. This is likely the most egregiously lazy writing of any scene I have ever seen on television. It's unbelievably offhanded. Aside from that, there were like six fights, and all but two were okay at best. They're getting in a bad habit of injecting flashbacks during their fights and it ruins the moment. The only fight in this show where interspersing flashbacks worked was Deku v Bakugou in S3. Fights are painfully short, the most offensive example being Deku v Overhaul. What a waste of potential that was. The ones before that have moments (the Suneater fight and the Red Riot-Fat Gum fight for instance), but they're marred by flashbacks that are inexplicably in the middle of each of them. There were only two decent fights: Endeavor v High-End Nomu and Deku v Gentle. Gentle's fight in particular is fantastic because they didn't overly rush Gentle's character. He's instantly become one of my favorite characters and I hope they use him more. It pisses me off that they brought in Nighteye just to die. Can't have anyone important dying, right? But boy did they make it feel like viewers were supposed to care when he bit it. Man, they really milked that for all it was worth. His quirk is ridiculously powerful, but nope, dies within a season. More offhanded writing. I've heard My Hero being called the next generation's Dragon Ball. Are people really dying on that hill? That's an awful comparison, it's just a cringier knock-off. Oh, and the disco theme is insufferable, glad they're done using that forever. Kind of a nitpick, but I hated Eri's dub voice. It was...overly precious, I guess. It was annoying, Eri's sub voice was far more bearable. All in all, mostly bad.

WOW! This season was SHIT. I usually like this show, but holy fuck this season was bad. -[25 Episodes of Absolutely Nothing]- There were two arks covered in this season. One was moderately interesting, the other was complete filler bullshit. Both arks were lame, played-out, and melodramatic. The interesting ark had a neato concept, but the execution was majorly lacking. The other ark was, well, not so interesting. I'll spoil it: it was a cultural festival ark. Maybe a UA festival would be interesting, right? Nah. Unlike season 2's sport festival ark, this one had almost nothing to do with quirks. Instead, this ark is dedicated to a side character who nobody cares about at all. Basically, this was a really fucking slow and boring season. From start to finish, the status quo didn't change at-fucking-all. -[Sakuga?]- So, how about that sakuga? Well it was pretty good- for the 4 times it actually happened. The fight scenes in this season weren't bad- they just weren't plentiful in the slightest. The rest of the art, though, was dogshit. Really. This season looked terrible. The animation quality was utter trash. There were very few good-looking scenes in this entire season. Dialogue scenes were horribly generic, with eyes following the sound of a character's voice, and everything else remaining completely motionless. Obviously, the whole budget was spent on the sakuga scenes (as well as hookers for the staff), because single other frame was 3/10 at best. -[Characters]- The new characters introduced this season were just okay. One was interesting, and all of the others were pointless. None of the characters will be recurring in the major story, so in reality, even the good character is worthless. There were like, 4 instances of character growth in this entire 2-cour season, so there isn't a whole lot to talk about in this regard. The growth was mostly believable, if not a little sappy. Honestly, the longer this show goes on, the less of a fuck I give about any character who isn't All Might. Even Midoriya is getting old at this point. He's fucking static and uninteresting. Back when he was growing during the first 2.5 seasons, he was tolerable, but now he just feels like any other shounen protagonist, who only exists to spout out garbage about the power of friendship and shit. -[Comedic Value]- The little enjoyment I derived from this season was from watching it with my friends. It was fun to laugh at how terrible this show has become. Other than that, I barely enjoyed anything about this season. It was bad. If I hadn't already read ahead in the manga, I probably would have just dropped the show after the first arc finished. -[Overall, Plus Ultra]- My Hero Academia is empty now. After the fall of All Might, this show lost all of its appeal to me. All-dude was such a great character and his dynamic with Deku made the show thoroughly entertaining. Sure, I'm invested in Midoriya's character, but he can't carry a show by himself. He isn't an interesting enough character. In the seasons to come, this show is gonna get fucking dumb, so get ready for it. The author knows how fucked he is at this point, so he's just pulling things out of his ass to drag this show on as long as possible. I just hope the next season looks good, cause if not, I'm out for good. 4/10

I wrote a review for My Hero Season 4 back when it first aired its first few episodes and gave it an 8 out of self spite. Now that we have reached the conclusion I thought that I would update this review for all 25 episodes. My Hero Season 4 is a curveball. I think for the most part we can all agree that this was probably the weakest season to date so far. Yet for some reason looking back at it, it has some pretty damn good moments. Which makes me question why I didn't like it. Deku vs Overhaul and Endeavor are the bright spots that make this season any less than a 7. I think the reason I dislike it is because the previous seasons was mostly based around the class and their interactions with situations. However in Season 4, Bakugo and Todoroki were merely subplots rather the main characters. This season was hyped up to the max from manga readers and after finishing it, im a little disappointed. Story : 8 The beginning to this Season was the dreaded Overhaul Arc. An arc that was framed from the manga readers to be Dark, Grueling and Awesome. Now it was all those but merely with lowercase letters. My main gripe with the arc was the lack of a good villain Overhaul was. I wanted him to be a Shigaraki (Long Time Villain) but instead they made him an arc villain and from what i've heard from manga readers he hasn't been mentioned since. Honestly, I'm pretty sure he was only made just so Deku could use 100% on someone. Throw in a plague mask and a cool character design and give him a villain motive. Then let Deku pound him to the ground while Bones does it's thing. Overall, my score for the arc is: Lazy. Next up we have the "should be filler but isn't" School Festival Arc. Once again manga readers overhyped Gentle and La Brava who ended up being subpar as well. I wish they put more time in the actual School Festival. Instead it felt like Gentle vs Deku was the main course and the School Festival was just filler to get to it. My score for that was: Boring. Art: 9 Bones doing what they do best. Animation was top damn notch this Season and I hope Bones keeps at it next Season Sound: 8 Nothing to complain about here either, everything matched up and felt smooth throughout. Characters: 7 Once again as I said in the beginning. This season was largely based on Deku and The Big 3. Now, I have an unpopular opinion about the Big 3 and that is that I don't think they were necessary for the story nor do I like them that much. Mirio is ok but sort of stale, and I already forgot the names of the other 2. It's not that the characters were bad this season it's just they focused on characters I didn't particularly enjoy watching. However, Hawks/Endeavor was eye candy and I love both of them. I like the direction Endeavor is going in but I wanted more of 1A which they barely gave during the School Festival. Enjoyment: 5 The course of this Season was being hyped up for moments and being disappointed time and time again. Only Endeavors fight at the end actually gave me goosebumps. Other than that this season really doesn't have a ton to offer. Overhaul Arc was overrated and the School Festival was borderline filler. If it wasn't for them actually setting up Season 5 pretty damn well I would have considered a 6 for this season. Its sad too. I have Season 2 and 3 both 9's and here Season 4 sits at an average 7. Overall: 7 I've said what I needed to and TL:DR: This was a disappointing, overrated season that made up in a few areas. I'm hyped for Season 5 but dang, this is not what I was hoping for.

What can be said about My Hero Academia that hasn't already been said? We all know that people who are die hard MHA fans will defend the show and people who aren't those will criticize the show for its faults. It's undeniable that MHA is the most popular shonen of the past few years (aside from One Piece) and over it's now 88 episode run it seem that we're only getting started, but in there lies to issue with MHA. I'm going to divide this into two parts and talk about the pros and cons of each part. First part- the rip off of the Chimera Ant arc To the surprise of no one we've now reached the point in the run time of this show that we get it's attempt at a Chimera Ant Arc (from HunterxHunter for those who have yet to see a good shounen). To be honest with you I had so much fun watching this arc. It felt like the show had come back to being on par with season 2 (after the train wreak that was season 3). The animation was consistently enjoyable which lead to some of the coolest fights we've seen in MHA sense the tournament arc back in season 2, and the writing was tight and never felt dragged out over the 14 episodes, Sadly thought the lack of character development for the majority of our cast (from the villains motivations being shown in flashbacks to our main heroes getting tragic backstory = New Power up) it just comes off as lazy. The only exception to this is the episode Lemillion in which I would argue MHA has finally made a 10/10 episode. If season 4 was just these 14 episodes (maybe a 15th to wrap up and tease) then this would have been great, even for all it's fault it was fun and showed the best parts of what makes a good shonen work. But...... Part two- The Clusterf@#$ Arc I don't like festival arcs. I think the majority of them a lazy and pointless from a writing perspective and just serve as filler, so that we can have a "break" from the action, but with MHA it seems like taking a break from the action means spending 11 episodes ramming as many sub-arcs as we can into this space. The first 4 episodes are about Bakugo and Todoroki (because those are the only two characters the show cares about) teaching preschoolers not to be little monsters and listen to their teacher. The biggest issue I had with this arc aside from the boring drag it it so watch is how CRINGE it can be. From the children to the forced "look at how nice they are to children" moments, theirs not a single part in these 4 episodes worth watching. Next Arc is the festival arc. When you came into MHA didn't you want to see our class in 1-A spend 5 episodes learning how to play a jamming rock song and dancing and doing "what kids do" because hey they're normal high school kids to! Right? I can't answer that for you, but for me all these episodes boil down to are a waste of time. Nothing interesting happen. The new mini villains feel rushed and don't present any threat which leads to the majority of the time spent with them feeling pointless. If you wanted to say the point of these episodes were to show Eri (the loli girl I'm sure you've seen) what it's like being a normal kid then show it through her eyes. Have her be our main character. Instead she's not and she's just turned into a side character. Finally, the last 2 episodes move away from the children and instead move to Endover and the world of the superheros. It's in these 2 episodes that MHA shows us once again what make the show good. You know, THE SUPER HEROES. Looking into the ways the hero world moves and functions is entertaining and even thought it just serves to introduce us to Hawk it's still interesting to see the world through the eyes of characters who aren't our main kids. All I really wished was that we would get a good foreshadowing of our next villain, but at this point I'll take whatever positives I can get. My Hero Academia season 4 is a mess. With a great first half and the worst second half I can't help but wonder why this show is 24 episodes long. At 12 episodes the first season was fantastic and season 2 worked at 24 episodes because it had enough story to support the amount of episodes. As for season 3 and now 4 all this show feels like it's doing is building up to 1 or 2 amazing moments and then padding out the run time with nothing but filler. My Hero Academia season 5 needs to change this trajectory or all we'll be left with is a never ending cycle of mess.

You know when an entire season feels like it's just a setup season, but then the finale makes you so hype about everything related to that anime that you kinda forget the slight blandness of the rest? That's what happened here. So, yes, this season of Boku no Hero wasn't my favorite thing in the world, I have to say. The stories that we got out of this season, if I'm honest, felt a little bit too disconnected from everything else that we've seen so far. Don't get me wrong, I understand that, in the future, it'll be important that we saw what we did in season four; however, watching this week-to-week wasn't the most exciting thing in the world. That being said, there were still some stellar moments throughout this season-- certain battles, certain injuries (or even deaths), the finale-- that made the overall experience pretty badass. Two things I've always got to mention about Boku no Hero are the animation and the sound. I don't think it's a secret by now that BNHA has one of the best anime soundtracks out there, but this season really didn't disappoint. Well... okay, if I'm being 100% comprehensive about this, there were some background songs that they used a couple of times that were absolutely wrong for the scene, and I found myself wishing they would've just stuck to the OSTs. That being said, the OSTs are awesome. As always. The *animation* though. BNHA never ceases to blow me away, and this season, dare I say, did better than previous ones. Maybe my opinion is just colored by the finale, I don't know, but I felt like the effects, the movements, and the colors were so much better. I don't know that I can say much more about this season, which is odd for me to say. Normally, I'd have a lot to say about character developments or the progression of the story, but the reality is that this season was just a build-up-- maybe even partly a filler-- for what's to come. There wasn't a whole lot by way of character development-- though Midoriya did experience a lot this season that I think will change him for the better in the future-- and really, we didn't even see enough of the other main characters this season to even have development. As I've said, the story was more of a setup rather than progression, although some things did change in the world of the heroes. All in all, I still enjoyed this season nearly as much as the other seasons of BNHA, it's just that I understand that season four was meant for groundwork more than anything else. Nonetheless, what I've seen for the past 25 episodes has got me excited for what will come in the future (especially because of that finale!). So, I'll look forward to then. Plus Ultra!

5.5/10 ~ meh MHA at this point just feels like a whole lot of nothing for build up into big spectacle climax that are all pretty showy action scenes 1-2 per season. The show started off pretty meh, had some great highlights through season 1-3, Season 4 forsure seems like a step down but not really by much, maybe .5 to a whole 1 point down from the rest. Im not really sure why people either praise or hate on this show, its just fine. Slain is still the best part of MHA and all the other villains are just dumb or feel like they are from a diffrent show entirely. Tournament arcs, invading the basement of a villain base are all so getting old, it almost feels like these are prerequisites for being a shonen, its so tiresome. This is the part where I found most people started to drop the show when i was airing, but from what I can tell I think the mediocrity started to finally creep in. lol The best part of MHA is between the moral choices people have to make, and the emotional developments the characters of varying ages make, neither of which is done particularly well. The third best thing is the action scenes and really people just cling onto this aspect and ride out the mediocrity. On to the next season in my quest to Finnish everything while I work

after watching season 3, now I watch season 4, in terms of the story of boku no hero academia it's a bit boring sometimes in an episode I feel sleepy, in this anime it's just an epic scene that is very spoil the eyes, the character I like the most is overhaul ( kai chisaki) where the mask is shaped like a bird's beak (Dr. Pleague) and the scenes when Endeavor against High End Nomu, there are very epic lots of great explosions that amaze me, for the story itself is pretty good it's just not as good as the previous season

My Hero Season 4 was a good season! I like My Hero a lot, and this is a great addition to the series! With new characters, and better animation, the Season seems interesting. Let’s find out! The story is pretty good! The League Of Villains were met by some other villains called The Hassaikai, and The Nighteye Agency was shown off in all it’s glory. The Hassaikai adds a lot to the story, such as a whole season’s worth of fighting, as Nighteye sets up a plan to stop The League and The Hassaikai from getting the power gone gone juice and get a child away fro mother bad men. Deku and Lemillion find the child and Deku makes the bad man think something is going on. A few thugs tried to erase the rock hard teenager’s quirk and successfully erased the yummy yummy weird food guy’s quirk for a little bit. 30 or so heroes show up to a meeting and discuss the bullets that temporarily erase quirks, and the child, which is named Eri, if you needed to know. The heroes fought with the Hassaikai and (HUGE SPOILER WARNING) Nighteye gets impaled from Overhaul’s ground spikes or whatever and then Nighteye is brought to the hospital to die with All Might, Lemillion, and Deku by his side. It was a good story with new arcs and storylines to follow, with some parts feeling a little dragged on. 7(.5)/10 The art and animation are great! A lot of flash and color make the show look really good, and not too many animation tricks that make the shots of the characters look worse. Not many mistakes with the drawings, and the shots of backgrounds are consistently beautiful. 9/10 The music is good, but nothing outright amazing, more so just generally good. The music works when needed and sounds very nice, but the theme is only okay. The sound quality is fine, it works, and is very well made, and the sound effects are great with the fight scenes and character movement. Also, the OST is good, again, nothing too special. 7/10 The new characters are great! The Hassaikai and The Nighteye Agency are full of interesting and memorable characters. Although (HUGE SPOILER AGAIN) Nighteye dying was saddening, it worked really well and progressed the characters very well. 8/10 I enjoyed this Season a lot, not only for its great story, but amazing art, music, fights, characters, pacing, sound quality, Generally interesting development, and sound effects too! 8/10 This Season is an 8/10

This is my favourite season of this series thus far. You experience long and hard battles, as well as happier times like the school festival. The series has you in tears for every reason and you start and leave the series with a smile on your face. The art style was improved even further from the previous seasons and you can see how much love and care was put into this. There is a closeup shot of Chisaki looking up, and that one frame has more detail than what seems like the entire third season of Nanatsu no Taizai. The music sticks to the classic theme, but with two new openings and endings, which are all amazing and you can't help but bob your head/sing along to. The voice acting, as well as the sound effects, are top-notch and realistic - it feels like I am actually there!

So sweet! MHA always makes me smile. I've never liked the character designs much, I think it's all too flashy and weird. But they keep surprising me with fun, realistic little character moments that makes the show so endearing. The first episode is a recap of what happened before, and where we are now. You can skip it, but it's actually told in a nice way - via a reporter doing a study on the school. Then, we get into some super serious stuff. A new, super cool villain, backstory for All Might, and so much more. There's a few cliches like Midoriya taking the cake, gaining a sudden interest in a new character, and a lot of flashbacks, but in the end, it's beautiful and inspirational. There's time for some new characters, too, most of which I like. I just wish frog-girl and gravity-girl got some more to do as well. There's a scene that is somewhat unrealistic at the end of the first arc, but then the league of villains is just too scary! After that, we get into some slice of life. Some of it drags a bit, but some of it is also really nice, leading into the festival, and a somewhat random villain that's not the best, but not the worst, certainly. Then, out of the blue, at the end of the show, some screentime with Endeavor as he's taking the role of number 1. Super hype! Plenty of tropes, and the pacing is a bit weird, but if you liked MHA before, you'll like it once more!

I've always been a fan of the shonen series, but this series hit different. The first 3 seasons are great, but season 4 is for me at the moment the second best! (Because I love those first seasons, where they do the character building) I've read some bad reviews and damn, who has hurt you?! Prepare yourself for a review about the things I noticed and really loved in this season! Tiny note, I rank series not always on their looks and story, but more on how much I've enjoyed it. This rank, is of all those together, because I love the style, I love the story and I've enjoyed it to its fullest! [Upcoming Spoilers] There are a lot of things I loved in this season. I loved the part about Krishima's past. It made him feel more like an important person, just like Ashido. Her tiny part in Kirishima's past, gave her so much more personality and made me appreciate her even more. The part where Mirio saved Erii, causing him to loose his quirk and loosing Sir. I personally don't care that much about Mirio and Sir, but it still had some bit of an impact on the story. One of my favourite parts in the season was actually the part between saving Erii and the school festival. I enjoyed it in the manga and I enjoyed it even more in the anime. Just seeing Todoroki and Bakugo having difficulties with those tiny children, was right up my alley. To me it showed the little character development of Bakugo, and as him being my favourite character, it just felt really good to see him think a little different. And then the festival, damn did I like Gentle criminal. He wasn't a really dangerous criminal, but having a little past and his teamwork with La Brava, made him feel real. Which is exactly why I love BNHA so much. All these characters have a background, they're not just some empty characters in the background. They all have their own little story. The song at the festival was a little more disappointing for me. I understand why they chose it, but I personally wished they would used a japanese song. Still, it was a really fun performance. Horikoshi really chose well with the characters for the instruments. And those last two episodes. Damn that had a big impact. It left a mark. They've chose well with these episodes at the end. The fight of Endeavour, is so incredible animated. That little fanboy at the camera, is just a fun tiny detail, which helped Endeavour with his current hero number. For me, this season is just incredible and I will think about it a lot. I hope this will help you all with feeling enthousiastic about series, eventhough it's a really personal review.

This review contains slight spoilers for previous seasons. -- I look at numbers of MHA and see big sales and high MAL scores. I read what people say about MHA and it's mostly negative stuff. It's really weird. And the stuff they say is really weird. The thing that has been bothering me all these years when MHA was airing is that people seemingly don't even understand what is the MIGHT of this show is. People need high-speed plot, hype moments, stylish, absurd and BIZARRE moments and crazy powers. Which are not a whole lot in MHA. And the plot isn't even the central element here. The point is - all these things are just a facade. People who only need this facade can enjoy shallow shows like Black Clover, Fairy Tail, etc. And I think this lack of facade is what makes people not like or even drop MHA, makes them say - "hey, it's just another Naruto rip-off" without looking closer. But MHA has always had the strongest fundamental element possible for a literary fiction. And it's the character writing and themes. These two are the thing that completely separates MHA from Black Clover, Bleach and other low-tier shounens that rely on facade to arouse emotions. MHA is different. There was a lot more thought put into its themes than any of those shows I mentioned. And it still great in that department up to this day. The latest episode that depicts the change of "symbols" is a clear example. You wouldn't get such a theme in Black Clover or Bleach or Fairy Tail. There would be a blank space. You wouldn't get a small detail like Deku saying farewell to his mother when he's on the brink of death, you wouldn't get such theme as having sharp, but indecisive mind that fails you, you wouldn't get a theme of how superheroes influence society and what it means to be a symbol to people around in different times, etc. You wouldn't get any of those and of such a high insight in the psychology of characters. I didn't even think abouth some of them before watching MHA. I compliment Horikoshi for delivering them at the level that high and deep. -- Another strong point that is connected to the first one is practical battles. By practical I mean fights that rely not only on your power levels. For instance, fights in Dragon Ball Z only had one factor that decided the outcome of a fight - your power level. The same happen in Bleach, Fairy Tail, etc. But practical fights are the fights where your thinking is necessary and where you positioning and timing are important. I first noticed that when the fight between All-Might and Nomu was decided by a single moment when Deku managed to distract Nomu's attention for a second, thus allowing All-Might to deliver a critical blow. That little psychology trick and that small moment played a crucial part in the fight. And that's what great about these fights - every detail matters, every thought you come up with can win you a whole fight. This creates even more character depth by providing an immersion not only during the dramatical parts, but during battles as well. You can see the thought process behind every step (of lack of it if there's a total chaos around), you can undestand the rules and you can FEEL the stakes. And thus you can feel these characters. You don't need extreme power level to be useful and relevant. Momo gathering her last strength and attaching the tracking device to Nomu CHANGED the game completely - thanks to her "little" contribuion it became even possible to track down villains. And yet she still blamed herself for being useless and not having done enough. To which All-Might replied: "That's what a true hero should feel". Midoriya coming up with a plan that first came to his mind and might not be that effective - which he completely realizes, yet he still has courage to execute it because no plan would be even worse. Because even a second of advantage can be victorious in MHA (unlike DBZ). Just like in real life. And due to this you really perceive the experience our hero gain. You FEEL their growth. You feel how characters who went through serious stuff (like one of the first ones in Kamino) are now different from other characters in their calss who are still inexperienced almost regular high-schoolers. Every arc is an episode from characters' life, which brings them closer to becoming true heroes - not only physically (quirk-wise), but more importantly - mentally. It's completely natural that Bakugo and Todoroki would fail hero exam in Season 3 because of their personalities (in other shows they would certainly pass based solely on their power and skill, but being cool and strong isn't enough to be a hero). Yes, not every character is developed in a serious way. But that's how life works. Not everyone is super interesting or have some impossible goal and an incredible journey of achieving it. This is again very practical and realistic. Not everything goes the way you like it. And yet there may be some pleasant surprises on your way. -- All in all, people should pay more attention to fundamentals. Character writing is what classic literature was based on. And it's indeed the most powerful thing you can find in fiction. Imaganary worlds' purpose (like that of MHA) is just to give us a setting where we can observe humans placed in unsual circuramstances. These shows are still about humans and the deeper these humans are depicted the more I value these shows. Let's not look at facade.

Just gonna make it quick, I feel like I have a lot to say, but can't find the words. It doesn't feel like mha anymore, and I mean that in both a good and bad way. The first 15 episodes or so are so dark compared to the rest of the show, and there was mainly focus on a handful amounts of characters, allthough the show for me has always been like everyone is a main character. Last episode was pretty crazy too. I really liked and didn't like it at the same time. It's like I'm watching a completely different anime, but it's still very good though! I feel like that's the easiest way to say it, or else I have to write a 100 page essay and I'm too lazy for that haha. Still awesome tho

Masterpiece. People that actually watch a lot of anime, complain about this season because (they say) is slow. But deeply, I dont understand what they think entertainment is. In any case, I know about cinema is and I know how to understand when the climax, the emotions are flowing and needs to come. If you share that thoughts with your audience at the right moment you will remember it all your life, means you created a bond and thats what happened with Boku no hero this season. You can see perfect examples when one of the climax arrives in the 13th episode, a trully well directed episode with emotions flowing everywhere, a masterpiece soundtrack and an impresive fight really well animated. But is not everything, if you reach the ending of the season goes even farther with a more dark upcoming season and more dark chars coming up right the corner. Believe me I was waiting something like this from season 2. In resume, the show is maturing and probably for people that watch average animes, they just want to stay in that average anime essence. This one is starting to evolve in something more complete more adult, with better written characters, better scripts, and breaks the "typical anime feeling", so maybe thats why you see people complaining. Amazing season, don't start slow, starts with a normal rythm, accelerates and explodes, later goes down for some episodes, basically because Deku learns something new and when it comes the last episode...puf, perfection. I still have goosebumps with some episodes, so don't even waste your time reading negative thoughts, the complains are nonsense. Believe me, I know what im talking about.

*** Spoilers Ahead *** My Hero Academia: Either you love it or hate it, there's no in-between This season was a mix of emotions for me. On one hand, the Overhaul Arc was dark and had a good storyline to it. On the other, it took about 9 episodes to finish, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Regardless, the animation, art, and sound were phenomenal and really show why BNHA could be the next One Piece or Fairy Tale. I will break this review up into three parts for the arcs. Overhaul Arc - 7/10 A nice introduction into the 4th season that overstayed its welcome by one too many episodes that could have been skipped or were not needed. The overhaul arc had a dark, depressing tone that was highlighted by the death of Sir Nighteye. Although there were a lot of good fight scenes, most of them were not needed. Gentle Criminal / School Festival Arc - 8/10 Gentle was a bit of an oddball villain since he doesn't really have intentions of killing or theft, but rather for popularity and fame from his youtube page. He and La Brava were an interesting pair that had pretty morbid backstories. Gentle being neglected and rejected from the hero course, along with almost murdering a dude while trying to save him, and Brava being on the verge of suicide after being made fun of by her high school crush. This arc was a nice breath of fresh air and introduced a new perspective of how villains can be portrayed (rather than the Nomus and Overhauls of the world) Endeavor Arc - 9/10 Although a short arc, it was a nice transition for the next season. Endeavor has been a fairly unused hero that only had the "2nd best" title going for him. I like that they are giving him more depth and showing that he is the next symbol of peace (especially that last episode, it almost had me shedding a tear). It's also worth mentioning that Deku's one for all interaction with one of the former holders is interesting, and could lead to more conversations with them in the next season. Overall, if you are a fan of BNHA, this season will be a nice watch and has a lot to offer. Thanks for reading!

SPOILER WARNING: I know people will disagree with this, but season four is my favorite season in My Hero Academia. Although the events that occurred wasn't as intense as the Hideout Raid arc, it still featured some moments that I enjoyed a lot. The plot continued off from the third season as usual, but the events that occurred were my favorite. This season taught me how the Yakuza would function in Japan but in terms of what they would be like as villains in anime. That arc, which is known as the Shie Hassaikai arc had its emotional moments and showed how much everything improved during the time My Hero Academia aired since the previous seasons. Then it features a nice break from all the action with a musical-like event, which I give bonus points for that, and then continues with the last few action scenes that end in a cliffhanger. With all of them combined, it made this season my favorite. The story continues from the third season and takes a little break from what happened in the previous arc. The Shie Hassaikai arc had its moments but didn't impact much of the story, but towards the end, it gave new introductions that would later have their importance in the series. That and the School Festival arc were good, but towards the end, the Pro Hero arc stood out the most. With the character development for Endeavor, it would make others start to accept his redemption arc and see how he'll lead as the current number one hero. The characters introduced the yakuza group, the Shie Hassaiki, and a young girl named Eri. The Shie Hassiakai is one of my favorite villain group designs as they have the theme of plague doctors and it looks so good on them. It also introduced three new UA students that would also begin to become fan favorites. Seeing how they were able to become great even with a rough beginning makes me impressed to see how cool they are. Finally, it introduced a character that appeared for a short time but had an emotional death in the series. Although it was short, gave an influence as a great character among Deku and Mirio. The animation continues to be at its peak, especially with the fight scenes. When the Deku vs. Overhaul fight occurred, I was in awe at how well animated it was, along with the incredible visuals. The music itself had an important role this time, and it's not just the openings and endings. But first, the sixth opening and ending felt like the stakes were high, and they were working hard to save a young girl while showing what she's like as a character. And it even goes through her character arc. The seventh opening described how to chill the next two arcs are, and the seventh ending was more emotional while giving hints about the theories, but they still sound amazing. The song played during the school festival, "Hero too," was the best part of that arc, combined with a spectacular performance, it made me smile so much, and even teared up when it made Eri smile. Overall, I loved the fourth season, so much action, and it balanced out everything I love about watching anime. The new characters introduced were so well-liked, the animation was done well, and it brought on much excitement from the various arcs. This was one hell of a season, and I'm so glad that I got to watch this far into My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia - Season 4 (Review): Jesus, people are harsh with this show aren't they? I've checked out a few of the top reviews for this show from season to season and it's plagued with negative reviews. Now I understand if you don't like the show but people seem to want to look at things objectively and while MHA isn't the best anime, or even the best shonen mind you, I definitely don't think it deserves the disservice of the 3/10's and 4/10's I've seen people gibing it - those kind of horrible rating should honestly be saved for the truly awful ones, ones with lazy writing or really terrible animation or something, which MHA doesn't have at all. Sure, it's a little generic but it's not awful at all. The writing is decent, the fights are fun and the show is overall pretty enjoyable. It even has some really great moments here and there too, at least one or two every season. Anyways, now I'm done with that little rant, I'll say what I actually thought about the fourth season of My Hero Academia. I'm not going to do the usual arc by arc review structure I've done for season 2 and 3 for the sole reason that this season's arcs are a little jumbled and less impactful for the most part. I believe that season 4 is more on the same tier as season 1, 2 was overall the best and 3 was pretty close but I think MHA's quality has done this sort of up and down thing for a little while now - hopefully the fifth season goes up in quality. To be honestly, I do technically like each arc of the season, I like how it carries straight off where season 3 left and the new characters introduced are really great too. Specifically Togata and Sir. Nighteye. The only downside of having these band of new characters introduced into the mix is that already established characters get seriously pushed to the side-lines. I think that's this season's biggest flaw - it just neglects most of its already pre-establishes characters and refuses to further develop them like, at all. Aside from that, the raid of the Yakuza base was great, probably the best part of the season. We get development on some of the characters, Red Riot, Lemillion, Deku and Sir. Nighteye to be specific. And the show finally had the guts to kill off a character! Granted, it was someone who had only just about existed for like half a season, but it's a step in the right direction in My Hero being ballsy and having the guts to kill characters off instead of having them miraculously survive everything, like Best Jeanist and Aizawa for example, the latter of which has actually become quite a fairly good character so I'm not too bothered about his survival anymore to be honest. The provisional training arc kind of sucked here honestly. I barely remember it and it did literally nothing. The only good part I can see from it is that Bakugo has a teeny tiny little bit of development, he's softening up ever so slightly. Still, a waste of space arc to be frank. I liked Gentle Criminal and the school festival. I added some emotional weight to season 4 and I'm not even going to lie, Class 1-A's performance at the school festival made m tear up, but I guess I was feeling somewhat overly emotional that night too. Still, for a show like My Hero Academia to make me get close to crying, I'd call that an accomplishment. Finally, the Japanese Hero Billboard Chart stuff. I really like the attempt to strengthen Endeavors character. His relationship with Shoto is improving and the fact that they've taken time to develop him a little is greatly appreciated. The last episode especially was great. I'd say that overall, season 4 of My Hero Academia was a little weaker than the previous seasons, but it's not bad. There is a sucky arc and it is a little more tedious and boring but the school festival arc and everything with Eri and the Yakuza was pretty damn great honestly. There's not all too much for me to write about it, but I did enjoy it honestly. I'm looking forward to seeing what season 5 does with the show and the characters. The only big negative I can really see with this season is that it side-lined and neglected a lot of its main characters, even All Might to an extent. But I guess the new characters are pretty good too and as long as they devote some time to all of the characters further down the line, then it's okay in the long run. Anyways, good season. Not as good as the last and definitely season 2, but I'd say it's somewhat similar to season 1's quality. And the enjoyment factor is always a plus with this show - it's kind of comforting. I think people judge it a lot for it's sometime unoriginality and toxic as hell fanbase. But I'm trying to look past that a little and rate it based on how much I liked it personally. And while other anime are far superior, (I save my 9's for the really good stuff and 10's for the masterpieces) I definitely don't think the sub 5/10's are warranted, I save those for the awful shows, not the mediocre or just plain shows. And I think MHA isn't even mediocre overall, it can be, but it's really fun and I'd say it's more of a decent show, which is why my scores for it have been totalling around 8, it's a consistent show in terms of quality, I'll give it that. Anyway, fun season, I liked it. I hope season 5 knocks it out of the park though, maybe get a little more serious and stop just dipping your toes. Bring back old characters and villains too. 3.5/10 8/10 Overall - 7.66/10
