Darwin's Game

Just finished the series and found it to be amazing. It is by far the best "Death game" anime I have every seen. I won't go into subjective reasons for why this show is great, such as the incredibly likeable characters. However, I think we can all agree that the action scenes have great animation (or at the very least, not low-budget), the power variety is deep and unique, and the pacing is efficient and consistent. No wasting 50% of screen time on filler (looking at you Fate series). My favorite aspect of Darwin's Game is how they use their powers in creative and realistic ways to get out of daunting scenarios. No deux ex machina "let me just go super saiyan 500" to get out of this situation. The MC's power level is perfect. The useless wimp trope is seemingly beloved by the anime community, yet overpowered characters are seen as unfair. Kameme is at a perfect balance where he has a power with OP potential, but it's up to him to develop and utilize this power in unique ways. I cannot stand the refusal to kill trope in anime, but the writers of this show seem to be self-aware of this, and there are constantly satisfying moments throughout the plot. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I do not understand critiques of this show that it is just "braindead fun." This just seems like a circlejerk opinion passed around by reviewers to make themselves feel big-brain.

Just like any other survival game animes i feel like they have rushed with the climax ,the story was not too strong to start with. The animation is very sloppy, (many scenes where they could have done better ) and the male characters faces are animated very asymmetrically ,like wtf is wrong with that wang guys face ,how bad can you do it .It is not just wang but every time they have to animate a yakuya or i dont know what they are called but they always spoil it The main characters kinda reminded me of light yagami and amane misa ,especially shuka gives of misa vibes(appearance as well as personality). But the flow of instances made it enjoyable ,at least. I really enjoyed the first episode even though every survival game starts the same ,the background score was just fitting into the scenes ,which is not that bad The opening and the ending are nice . Iwouldnt ming adding the opening into my queue Even though the art was dissapointing ,it was a well made anime ,the characters kinda fit through in didnt feel like there are too many unwanted extras are added Worth watching once

So this series would have to say was one of the better for its seasonal release counterparts, but not all that great or rememberable. I have to say that the characters are about average, the same stories that we have always had. The MC oh my gosh comes off so bland serving no general purpose. This character looks like the guy in a side character that was being given a chance to have his own show. It felt like this was the Cleveland brown show to family guy, it's ok but there's better. This show doesn't really pick up till the last few episodes honestly. I did honestly try to get into this show, but started to feel more like a chore watching it, hard to recommend, but if you have nothing better to do give it a try great for white noise.

Title, Summary, Episode Pro, Con Draw Darwin's Game is a survival game anime with a MC that is forced into situations where he must resort to violence with his newfound power. It is definitely a great survival game anime, and capitalizes on its power system that has nearly no limits in terms of possible powers, and instead relies on having powers that are logically balanced (i.e. cooldown, limitations, conditions, etc.) It is pretty great with its fight scenes, and the MC does seem to have a lot going for him. However, much of the story's flow follows that of a generic survival game, which is really too bad. All in all, if you like survival game anime you will like this! It will help if you are a fan of powers and such as well, and get ready for some edginess and gore.

English Version General: (7.45 / 10) Personally I take this adaptation of the Darwin Game as one more of the many "Game of Death" anime that affected in recent times, thus having a regular / acceptable performance from my point of view. Since it was a show that began with great strength and solids, but unfortunately as we enter this world more and more, it was when the failures in history began to stand out. The mayor's breaking point was during the outcome of the "event of the jewels" and from there he did not do the same again, he cut scenes again to simply advance the plot more and more and everything became too forced, both the battles as character development and what would eventually lead to the clan fight, although it was not wrong to see that carnage by "Sunset Ravens", I did not feel justified the hatred of our boys and leaving that plot egg plays against the hour to give it more epicity. But of course, if the creators are only looking to promote their manga, the result may be convincing if we don't get too picky. As characters I liked them relatively well. However, I felt them too shallow and not seeking too much development on them, an exception from Kaname. Finally and I want to be concise the visual section impressed me gratifying that everything flowed enough and did not leave a bad impression. And as for sound, I don't complain so much the OST and its OP / ED approved.

After finishing the show, I can honestly say that this is a new concept to me - at least from what I’ve experienced. Instead of being brought into a different world like isekai, all the battles happen in real life, in his world, where he actually has to face other people who’ve also incidentally stumbled upon the game! I really liked it and actually started and finished this anime in a single day! The main character has one of those personalities that you can’t help but love! This is also involves one of my favorite things - an OP main character! I’ll give this a rating of 9/10 Overall, if you like animes with game concepts and a strong main character(s), I recommend that you watch this! I write reviews like this on my Blog when I finish an anime, check it out if you want @ animeplug.tumblr.com

Warning: Spoiler for the last Episode Im not totally sure how I should rate this anime. On one hand its not that bad and interesting to watch, on the other hand its a lot like Mirai Nikki and could be considered even a copy. This anime is about people getting special abilities named "sigils" (sounds a lot like the Mirai Nikkis/Future Diaries, right?) after they enter the survival game "Darwins Game". You dont necessarily have to kill other players outside of events (if an events rules are that you have to kill a certain amount of people to achieve something than of course you have to kill them to survive) but most of the players do so because of the money you recieve or other kind of reasons. If your smartphone gets destroyed you die too, just like in Mirai Nikki. Kaname the main male charakter at first doesnt want to kill anyone but in the end (last EP) something dramatic happens and he starts killing the Eighth clan (even though he still seems to think that they should avoid killing and just use it as a last resort in the end). Its just like Yuki from Mirai Nikki. The main female charakter Shuka is just the kinda crazy charakter who is madly in love with the main male charakter, so just like Yuno from Mirai Nikki. Other stereotypical aspects are for example Kaname turning his enemies into "good people" who join his clan after he defeats them. As for those aspects I would have rated it 6.5 (selecting 6 in the dropout menu) but considering I still found it interesting and the story still gets you invested to want to find out how it will go on and if Kaname will be able to find and defeat the "Game Master" , bringing an end to the "Darwins Game", I rated it 6.5->7 (6.5 to 7, so I selected 7 in the dropout menu). So in the end it will be listed as a 7 on my list because decimal places aren't a choosable option but I hope you understand my reasoning behind all of this.

Darwin's Game is for anyone who's looking for an interesting Battle Royale type anime. Story: 7/10 The Story isn't the most original, but it's enough to enjoy the show. Art: 8/10 The art is pretty good, it helps you get invested into the show more. Sound: 7/10 There were no problems with the sound, it was good. Characters: 5/10 The characters are all cliché as hell, not very good. Enjoyment: 8/10 This anime isn't hard to enjoy, it's very entertaining if your looking for a simple story with action. Overall: 7/10 I'd recommend this anime to most anime fans who like battles that are thoroughly though out by the MC.

(some spoilers ahead) Terrible Pacing: A character will start monologuing in a do-or-die situation for a few minutes and the antagonists will just stay there and do nothing (this happened twice with the Florist and then with Ace at the warehouse). The show will spend 4-5 minutes on a analogy (the 3 pigs one) with little pay off and also add dialogue that goes nowhere (the importance of gem rarity). The story is running to get to season two and thus leaping and cutting non-essential ingredients that could add flavor to this anime (From removal of backgrounds of characters like Banda-kun, reduction of how horrifying the Florist's abilities are, retconning essential characters and putting others in a literal shot in the background from a expository scene), but also at the same time spoiling stuff from future story arcs and adding an unnecessary character that ruins a moment that the main character experiences at a crucial point. The Animation: It's enjoyable, mostly in the first half of the show. There are parts where the animation deeps in quality tho. The worst has to be episode 9 (the first fight was terribly animated with characters explaining the fight while it was happening and the second one was rushed so fast in order to get to the next episode). In fact the fighting parts of this anime (aside from the second-half of the first episode and some of the fast fights here-and-there) were pretty terrible and sometimes continuity breaking (the fight between the karate-eyepatch and sonic comes to mind). The Artstyle: I didn't mind the character designs that much, but I couldn't get over the terrible blur and some of the constant light effects, especially when it was day or a lit room. The Soundtrack: I don't think it's bad, but it wasn't fitting at all for me, there was like a constant disconnect between what was happening visually and whenever a track started to play. Also, I couldn't get over that terrible loud dubstep song, that was godawful for me. The Voice Acting Coordination: The voice actors sounded excellent and did a great job, but I feel like in some (minor) tense parts they were underperforming due to lack of direction. It's a good ad for the manga, but I don't know if anyone will like this after reading the manga. There were a lot of positives that I didn't mention due to the huge negatives that I experienced. The clever writing is mostly buried in the rushed story and the good animated scenes are buried in the clunky scene to scene animation and terrible fight scenes. I don't know.

This was a nice breath of fresh air in the midst of the dozens of isekais that we are being rained with. Now that all of its 11 episodes for the season is done airing, if you are one of those that like to binge, this is the one for you, buddy. The main idea of the anime is this -> The anime revolves around a high school student named Kaname Sudo, who is suddenly shown a game that is available on the smartphone--but turns out, it was a killing game lol. Although it's kind of simplistic, there's nothing wrong with keeping things simple nowadays, since everything seems so cliche. At the start, it feels like he just has plot armor and all the typical main character features, but I mean at least it was enjoyable after you reach Episode 4. Even though it has 11 episodes out already, (and I say this as someone who has never heard of a manga or a light novel titled Darwin's Game) it felt as if that this was just a super long trailer. The vibes I got was kind of similar to what I got from Log Horizon's first season. Tl dr; Good for binging so that you aren't left with a cliffhanger.

Story 6/10 A high school student Kaname Sudou gets an invite to a mobile game called Darwin's game of course this is no normal game with death in the game meaning death in real life. Each character in the game has access to a special ability or sigil however it takes time for Kaname to work out his sigil and he almost dies only surviving by sheer luck until he discovers that he can forge any weapon that he has come across. Kaname who is reluctant to kill steadily builds up a group of allies called a Clan and begins to battle any evil clan of murderers and criminals named Eight. Let's face the story isn't the greatest but I think it worked for the most part although I wasn't a fan of the ending despite it setting up a likely second season. Art 7/10 The art works for me with the sigils done well and all the characters drawn to least a good standard. Sound 9/10 The sound of the show works fine with the voice acting and sounds effects fairly reasonable but what makes the sound great here is the two great tunes that make up the opening and closing themes I highly recommend checking out the opener CHAIN by ASKA and the closing theme Alive by Mashiro Ayano. Character 7/10 The characters are reasonable I didn't like the main character Kaname at first as he comes across as a weak cry baby unwilling to do what needs to be done in a ruthless world but Kaname improves as the show goes on and by the end of the show he is likable enough. Shuka Karino is a skilled player of Darwin's Game who becomes enamored with Kaname I like her her but her voice and character could become grating for some. Probably my favorite character is Rein Kashiwagi an extremely smart girl who acts as an information broker but is also a skilled fighter specializing in sniping she develops into a crucial part of Kaname's clan I liked the way her intellect added to the group and enjoyed most of the scenes she was involved in. Overall a decent cast I would say. Enjoyment 8/10 Really fun show not at the highest level but watching this on a weekly basis I always looked forward to the next episode I think the finish was rushed and we could have done with another couple of episodes in the final story line but overall this was a good fun show that was entertaining throughout. Overall 7/10 A good seasonal anime well worth checking out.

I had several feelings while the anime was airing. First, I was happy to know that an anime was announced, after that, I was surprised to see that there was only 11 episodes to finish the manga, it wasn't enough for me. Indeed it wasn't, but I suppose there will be a second season. Moreover this season stopped at the same place where I stopped in the manga. But for this season, the anime is following the manga even if it avoid some event which can be important in the story. The characters have different personalities, even if they're not so different from any character from any anime. We can really see the upgrade in the mentality of the hero between the first and the last episode. Anyway, it's a good anime to spend time, especially if you like survival games.

An entertaining but relatively uninspired entry into the high-stakes game genre. Darwin’s Game does succeed in retaining your attention despite flaws. You can turn your brain off in a positive sense. It incorporates an interesting power system, has decently well-animated action, and features a double-length first episode. Unfortunately, it falters on most narrative levels. Character relationships are shallow, yet they have familial bonds despite having little to no interactions, and many situations and explanations are lacking, yet basic concepts are voiced for no reason. Finally, the adaptation was sub-par with cut material, glossed over details, and inconsistent pacing. A somewhat enjoyable, though mediocre background watch.

To be honest i kinda like overall of these anime, but they not good ! here's the reason 1. These games are not well-setted at all, all the time it just giving like funny sense of reality that go with what the writer wants 2. thiss the one I hated the most, even though it was a fair trade to make the enemy deserve what they this, but the power that MC has and all just unfair, it just making you feel like you didnt actually win, but you got it by cheating, these are just some false anime, but after all it is a fine anime to watch.

I really recommend this anime. I have been watching boring anime for a long time, this anime grabbed my attention and I finished it very quickly. The story is very unique. The cool idea is a cell phone game that forces you to fight people. I like that each character gets a special ability. The pace of the series is excellent, the characters are interesting but i think they had to give them some more background story. I really liked the art. The music in the series is very good and so are its voice actors. An excellent opening that totally belongs in my playlist. I would watch it again.

Darwin's game was a surprisingly good series. I expected a very standard 'hunger-games-esque' type show. It really surprised me how much I enjoyed it. The MC has a steady development throughout and ends on a good note. I hope a season 2 releases one day but for now the existing content is satisfaction enough. I think anyone who enjoyed things like Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) or just standard last man standing/king of the hill types, will enjoy this anime. The pacing is good. The characters are interesting enough. And just the addition of unique powers per player adds an almost unlimited potential of possibilities for unseen characters in the future. Though I think the manga may have finished? The story isn't complex at all, it's straightforward and easy to keep up with. Episodes feel short though, like you blink and they're over because it's such a steady flow of content. A rarity in many of the more recent years of animes. It's great to kill time waiting for a friend to come online! Though you may end up binging it all.

It’s just a little better version of Mirai Nikki. nothing more and nothing less. Story follows kinda like it. Hunter Games-like game on a phone where people actually die except it’s on IPhone instead of a fliphone. The only characters I like the most from the main cast is Ryuji Maesaka (the skull masked guy) He’s very entertaining and likable to me, very underrated, scary on the outside but caring in the inside and has a lot of potential as a character in my opinion (that’s if there’s ever going to be more seasons in which I doubt) and Rein Kashiwagi, she’s the serious and mature but also the kinda nice and smart black hair girl. She reminds me of Konoha from Orbital Children for some reason. Those are the only characters I like, Everyone is to me here is either fine, meh, or bad. Would I recommend it? I’m not entirely sure. there is some sad moments here though and some dark moments that might catch you off guard. Some unnecessarily sexualized fanservice. And some bad writing but otherwise maybe? It’s up to you really.

The first few episodes of Darwin's game would leave the average joe dumbfounded. The concept is abstract, the story is mostly unexplained, and I don't blame you. Darwin's game is based on the concept "Might makes Right", but allow me to clear your doubts by explaining why this anime is brilliant. Following the concept of Darwinism, the story mainly focuses on the theme of dominance and power, which is shown throughout the show. It's interesting because Darwin's game really leaves you questioning about a lot of things that happen within the story. It's not too dramatic, has decent fight scenes and successfully demonstrates its high-stakes theme. Its plot also gets straight to the point (and has good context), allowing for an easier understanding of the basis of this show. Sure, some things aren't explained, but that's all part of the thrill. The characters are also nicely presented. We have people of different calibers, coming from different backstories and each bearing a different reason yet united will to live. For those who are interested in high-stakes and dramatic situations, quick-thinking and action, Darwin's game would be suitable for you. Even if you don't like any of the aspects it offers, the story concept itself is worth considering, and you should definitely watch it.

NO SPOILERS: So, I'll start by saying this is a pretty good and enjoyable anime to watch that I would rate an overall 8/10 - and I think a lot of the reviews here are wayyy too focused on certain minor aspects which makes them unreasonably critical of this anime as a whole. Now i'll move on by telling you what D-Game isn't: It isn't some super well-crafted world that has a 'scientific' explanation for everything. What I mean by that is, a certain level of suspension of disbelief is required - and you just have to accept that the game operates in a certain way. Whether the 'how' is explicitly mentioned or not. Furthermore, I would say the way the game works is pretty simple, and the way players operate within the game is pretty consistent. So I don't know why other reviews are saying it's complicated - I think they're just making it complicated. It's a game (even if it does occur in the real world). You don't need to know how the game protects you from law-enforcement, or how the general public are unaware of the events that they bear witness to, or how sigils (abilities/powers) are 'powered', or even how the teleportation works. But those are just consistent mechanics of the game that you should accept if you want to enjoy watching this show (and honestly, I don't know why you would be so anal about something like that in the first place. Anime is not real-life lmao - isn't that the whole purpose of it? To enjoy the fantasy/fiction which we are unable to experience in real life???) What D-game is though is a fairly well put together enjoyable death-match anime. The MC has pretty good character development in the first season, and the clan members he acquires along the way are pretty likeable. The game isn't balanced. I mean, it's not supposed to be - it's literally DARWIN'S game. It's survival of the fittest. It's a juxtaposition of the real word where things are more egalitarian. This is supposed to be about natural selection. But whilst the MC has a pretty good 'sigil' (power) it's more about how he uses it more than anything. There are players with just as good (if not better) sigils if utilised correctly - and there are also characters whose sigils are just straight trash when it comes to combat (but can help with other things). Anyway, the MC recieves the pretty typical MC treatment, and sometimes he escapes situations he probably shouldn't be able to at the beginning of the season - but he at least admits his luck. This is acutally touched on pretty well by another character, as they tell the MC that you can only recieve a lucky opportunity if you survive long enough for those opportunities to present themselves. I mean, the show isn't completely non self-aware of this trope I guess. It's just a fun and enjoyable casual anime to watch. There's no deep lore or a crazy well-written story. Just take it at face-value and there's little to complain about. The art and animation are pretty good, most characters are atleast semi-interesting, the pacing is good and there's no constant annoyances. The only thing I will say is that during the first half of the season certain directions of the story can feel more 'convenient' than logical - but I would say that's just so that the MC can experience some shit first - after that, I would argue that it becomes more logical and more immersive to watch. There's no real plot-twists, and the show is pretty straight forward unlike something like Future Diary/Mirai Nikki (which I also similarly enjoyed but would say is inferior to this as a whole). What you see is what you get - and I liked what I saw. I don't think anyone who isn't pretentious would regret watching this through - and I am excited for a second season since I would say that I'm happily invested in the story (even if it's not majorly complicated or deep).

Death Game show what are you gonna say ^^ Honestly it's a fun 12 episode show and they've build something that definetly has potential for a 2nd season that will never ever come out. The fights in my book are ok at best definetly not a great level but still very enjoyable. I like what they have done with the story and I wouldn't have mindes another 12 eps covering the end goal and really completing the objectives our protagonists have set for themselves. really feels like a Mirai Nikki but more up to date less paper based diarys and more smartphones :)
