I'm so jazzed after finishing this series that I don't give a damn if people think a 10 is too generous. I'll give you my two criticisms right now, just to get them out of the way. Some of the music can feel a little misplaced at times, and also, the pacing at the beginning is weird. It feels a little off compared to the rest of the season. From here on out, you're gonna have to get used to me praising this anime because that's all I can see to do. Since I've already brought up the music, let's talk sound design. Yes, there were a few moments where the music didn't align correctly, but the original score was gorgeous overall. I did appreciate the soundtrack during comical times because it fit the tone nicely, but the emotional scores were to die for. Moving on to the art... listen, I'll be honest here. I felt a brief bit of hesitation during the first episode because the style felt so different to me, but I very quickly realized that I loved it. The thick edges, character designs, realistic materials, and drop-dead-beautiful landscapes are something so unique to this series, and it pulls it off really well. Like... especially the landscapes. The landscapes combined with the lighting effects especially. As far as the story goes for this series, I thought it was structured strangely, but in a way that worked really well. There was an overall goal for the season, but a lot of the time, it felt like the characters had arcs of new adventures every few episodes. Given that science is the binding subject for the entire season, it kept everything tight and clean and yet fresh and exciting. Hell, the premise for this anime alone is exciting. You really have no idea until you've watched the entire thing just how artfully the usage of science was crafted into every facet of the plot. If you think science can't be exhilarating, you're wrong. Science being a good segway into characters, let's talk about Senku. I'm not gonna go so far as to say Senku is the best main character out there, but he's up there, in my opinion. The writing does such a brilliant job of showing you who he is on the surface while delving in in various capacities to show you his values, his fears, his wishes, etc. There's so much depth written into his character and his development throughout the series. Talking about the other characters, many of them felt the same way to me. Of the characters you see the most screen time of, none of them were static; they all got a stage to grow and showcase their vulnerable traits as well as their tough ones. Not to mention the relationships between these characters felt authentic and special. Everything involving the cast was extremely well done. I really loved this anime. A lot more than I thought I would. The humor is killer, it stands on its own when it comes to emotional scenes, and the characters are 100% solid. I know there's people out there that absolutely detest this series, and that's fine, but I found it to be really special. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and I'm really excited to continue on this journey with Senku and science because... it's pretty exhilarating.

Overview Dr. Stone came out as one of the ‘chosen ones’ as to say, right along side The Promised Neverland, Kimetsu No Yaiba, My Hero Acedemia etc. as the future of Shonen Jump. With overwhelmingly successful adaptations for the other 3 manga, how does Dr. Stone stack up? Well, rather poorly. Now that’s not to say it’s a bad series, just that it didn’t leave as much of an impact as the other 3 did. Let’s get into a more detailed review to better understand this. Story: 5/10 Given that you’ve already read the synopses, you know what it’s about. The first 6 episodes feature a tense atmosphere where, in this light setting, suddenly lives are at stake. Death is now a possibility for the main cast and is shown on screen (with a character destroying statues). Here we are introduced to the show’s main moral dilemma. Is the modern world, which is flourishing in science but ruled by greedy adults, better than this ‘stone world’ in which only the youth shall be revived? Now whilst this is one fine moral dilemma, It’s not really elaborated upon as much as I would like. The narrative basically boils down to each side reasserting their position on the matter rather than a discussion on why their viewpoint is what it is. Furthermore, after the 6th episode the two opposing sides never meet and so this dialogue is never expanded upon in the series. The next 10 episodes can be most closely associated with a Food Wars style of storytelling. Our Protagonist will set sight on a goal to invent something and then there will be a scientific explanation of what this something can do. Sometimes, inventing something will require obtaining some raw materials and so there will be entire episodes dedicated on the journey to acquire said raw materials and the importance of these. What you get is half your episode time dedicated to the explanation of the functionality, importance and characteristics of these items that our protagonist wants to invent. The entertainment factor of these long moments of exposition is highly subjective, I’d recommend watching the show while having a meal so that you have some other activity to dedicate your brain cells to because the explanations can get very boring and the MC’s excitement is not enough to make up for that. Apart from the chemical/technology/product the protagonists try to make, much of the content in these 10 episodes is very repetitive with the same cycle again and again. We do get a small tournament arc, however that is not much of a cause for excitement since you don’t get good old shounen style battle tournament but a much more boring “we’ll win this with science” crap tries to pass it’s tactics off as clever but really just comes off as cringe. Finally in the last third of the series we get some background information on the formation of this stone world, how knowledge was passed down, who the founders were etc. etc. and it does well to answer some of the very obvious questions of this world but not all of them, so look forward to that in season 2. Nonetheless, the last third of the series once again is spent in the same cycle of, need raw material -> exposition -> journey to get it -> exposition -> acquired, which, again I would emphasize, is only enjoyable if you don’t get bored easily. On the positive side, the story does have a sense of progression, we see the advancement of the kingdom of science as well as the ‘antagonists’ of this series. The constant threat from the youth kingdom keeps you wondering how long can this peace be sustained but with the little attention that it’s given, I doubt that will be enough to keep you hooked Characters 6/10 Dr Stone focuses more on quantity rather than quality when it comes to it’s characters. You’re offered a huge colorful (literally) cast of characters with their own quirky personalities but they’re mostly very 1 dimensional and not worth talking about. The only one worthy of talking about is your main character, Senku. What separates Senku from other characters like him, who fall into the same cliche of overpowered genius that serves as a wish fulfillment vessel for the viewer, is that the series repeatedly shows his faults. It’s constantly reiterated that sense is lacking in several ways. He is physically very weak, He isn’t athletic, he can’t do much alone. More importantly, Senku has empathy, he has his sense of morality and his weakness for small doses of happiness that come from different sources, like his friends celebrating his birthday. Speaking of friends, another thing that separates Senku from other characters of his kind is his almost tsundere like love for his friends and whilst some may say it doesn’t fit his character, I can’t think of anything more fitting of a highschooler. Some highlight characters:- Chrome: Lots of potential for character development and you already see some flashes of it in the series. Rather than just a lackey for Senku, you can see him coming into his own as a scientist with his own drive to invent and his own love for science. Gen: One of the more unique side characters. After Senku, Gen would be the most interesting character to give an a story arc to. His cunning behavior and morality give him a unique spin that sets him apart from other characters in the series. Art and Animation: 9/10 The Art leaves very little to complain about. Both the manga and the anime have stellar art, particularly the characters. With almost each character given a very unique design that sets them apart from others. If I did have one criticism, it would be that all the females in the series have the same chibi art style that makes them look a little too cute for their age. For example, at some moments Rui and Suika look like they have the same face despite an almost 10 year difference. The animation of the series pulls through when it is needed. It’s not a battle anime and so the animation is not required to be of the highest end at all times as long as it’s able to product some magical moments in between. Some of these magical moments include: The Observatory, The Christmas scene, (The Cotton Candy Licking), Senku’s emotional response to the gravestones, etc. Sound: 8/10 I have very little to say about the sound, It had good openings and a decent sound track. Nothing that memorable except the second opening which seems to be stuck in my head. Overall: 7/10 Watching Dr. Stone will not be a waste of your time, you will have moments of entertainment and sometimes the science will make you go “wow, I knew they would make that” but it’s not a show worth binge-ing or investing too much into. I’d recommend watching it casually and at your own pace and before season 2 comes out, because this show can be better enjoyed on a weekly streaming basis rather than binge-watching. It’s not going to leave much of an impact and apart from 2/3 characters, the cast won’t be very memorable, but overall, as an experience, you will not be left with a bad taste in your mouth.

This will be a short review, and also my second review (a pop up keeps popping up telling me to make the review longer uwu). Wow. I would have never imagined liking an anime that also teaches me a subject that I did not particularly like. The writing is on point, the animation accompanies the scenes beautifully. The story is not slow but it's not rushed either, the elements intertwine with each other nearly perfectly. If you are still indecisive about watching it, I can only say you are missing a masterpiece if you still have not watched it! Can`t wait for season 2!!

To me, an engineering student, Dr. Stone does a great job embodying the "magic" of science (Senku would probably beg to differ, as there's no such thing as magic, after all). This show never fails to give me the shivers as it delves into the immense work humans have put into our culture and scientific advancements. **Story: 9/10** Dr. Stone offers a compelling and unique premise, but that's where things start to go downhill. The narrative has immense potential that piqued my interest from the beginning. However, while the concept is strong, the pacing can be slow, and the execution is less than perfect. Nevertheless, it does its job in highlighting the thousands of years of history that have culminated in our modern society and what would result if everything were lost. It definitely made me appreciate everything that has contributed to our current way of life. I also thoroughly enjoy learning about the basics of the technology we use today and how they came to be. Despite how extravagant everything is treated in the show, it draws from real-world science which (when taken with a grain of salt) can be an enjoyable way to discover more about the past, present, and future of engineering. Also please take into consideration that I really romanticize the story in my head. If I weren't such a science nerd and didn't fill in the gaping holes in this plot with my own aspirations, it would probably be much less praiseworthy in my eyes. **Characters: 7/10** The characters in Dr. Stone are watchable, albeit not groundbreaking. Senku, the protagonist, is, to me, an enjoyable character with his super-genius intellect and unwavering ability to problem solve. It's certainly interesting to see what sorts of contraptions he will create, whether plausible or not, and how he will get there. Yes, it's completely unfathomable that he would be able to do 95% of the things he does, but who cares? It's fun, it's exciting, it's a fantasy anime for god's sake! However, his personality can be a bit inconsistent, as he oscillates between being emotionally detached and deeply invested, makimg him a pseudo-tsundere character, an extremely common archetype. Honestly, I think it would have been refreshing to see someone who is genuinely and completely apathetic for once, but I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too. I must say, I can still be a trope lover at times and I happen to foam at the mouth for insanely powerful characters that haven't shown their true powers yet and are mistreated until they prove themselves, but it's actually easy to do because they are so powerful. Oddly specific, but Senku fits the bill. While he may not be everyone's cup of tea, I find him to be engaging, especially since I can relate to his way of thinking and his personality in general. Gen, the mentalist, is another favorite of mine, bringing a charming cunningness to the group, even if he's also not particularly original. Chrome is... Chrome. I have a STRONG personal vendetta against characters like him. Hard to explain, but he is meh to me. Finally, as a girl myself, female characters are constantly under scrutiny in my eyes. And in the case of Dr. Stone, while they may not pass with flying colors, I really have no qualms with them. They are decently written and treated with respect. Best of all, they aren't subjected to unnecessary fan service, which is SO refreshing. While they may not have the strongest personalities, I'd rather they be simple, genuine girls than poorly characterized stereotypes with no soul. That said, it is unfortunate that some of the more important female characters lack depth. **Art: 7/10** The art style of Dr. Stone is appealing enough, though certainly not exceptional. Most character designs are memorable but nothing to write home about. The animation quality is consistent but not particularly outstanding. There are moments where it truly shines, but overall, it's serviceable. **Enjoyment: 9/10** While Dr. Stone isn't perfect, it offers me (emphasis on ME) a lot of enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this show to those interested in science and history. Again, it must be taken with a grain of salt as it's highly outrageous most of the time, but I think embracing the splendor of it all is part of the experience. The show does have its drawbacks, such as the overbearing shounen comedy and occasional pacing issues (I wish Senku, and fricken Chrome, were less shounen MC; they both yell a lot 😭). However, the joy I get from learning about scientific principles and seeing them applied in creative ways outweighs these flaws in my books. The potential of the series to inspire curiosity and appreciation for human ingenuity is one of its greatest strengths. **Conclusion:** Dr. Stone, while not the most refreshing take on the shounen genre, brings science and storytelling together, creating a certainly unique concept. Despite its imperfections, it succeeded in constantly kindling my interest in chemistry and physics. I look forward to seeing how the series continues to evolve and hope it does better to reach its potential as it continues.

Very beatiful chill anime its almost like minecraft btw minecraft is my favorite video game When I first learned about the stone doctor, I was very excited because it changed my view of society and the environment, main characters and protagonist and very well written shadow motto is very cool. How it is drawn is very good ,Also anime inspired me to start improving myself and working on my personal appearance and thinking Life Begins at Fertilization with the Embryo's Conception. "Development of the embryo begins at Stage 1 when a sperm fertilizes an oocyte and together they form a zygote." "Human development begins after the union of male and female gametes or germ cells during a process known as fertilization (conception). very good 10/10 MUST WATCH!!!

the anime which i most liked after Naruto. the character are very good & every episode is funny means have some funny scene. what you want on a anime series ? the anime include all factors like Internal Logic, Consistency, Uniqueness & Creativity. what we most like to do in our childhood the science experiments ? Right. so the series have many science experiments which somehow can remind us of our childhood thing. Filler is the bane of an average anime watcher's life. You get all excited with your Ramune sodas and your Pocky to sit down and watch the next episode of your favorite show, and... it's boring. Nothing happens. So this thing can't happen in this anime means there is no filler episodes. THE FINAL WARNING if you watch one episode of this anime then you can't stop yourself.

Dr Stone is one of the very few anime that are extremely popular that I did not like. I am fairly easy to please when it comes to anime, but the glaring plot holes just became a little out of hand. This review will contain spoilers FYI The entire premise of the anime seemed to be intriguing, which is why at first, I was happy to watch it, and even when a few things didn't make sense, I gave the show the benefit of the doubt because I wanted to see it through. but after a while some of what happens just seems like poor writing that has to be fixed and solved through seasons and seasons of more writing. First of all, Senku, our child genius, always had the dream of going to space, so what does he do, build rockets and look at stars starting from a young age, so the different avenues of science that he knows to work so easily are quite overwhelming, and even if he did know how to do all of them, why does he also know the history behind all the items as well?? and if he was so capable and bright, why was he going to just some average people like Taiju and not an elite school of science geniuses. Now, on the arc with Ishigami village, this made no sense at all. first of all when they arrive back on earth and see that everyone was turned to stone, what compelled them to also not live in any of the buildings that were made, and instead live right outside Tokyo in some middle-of-no-where island. Especially Senku's dad, who definitely knew where Senkus petrified body was, was somehow unable to go and venture to find and protect his son that he would later go to great lengths to leave hidden messages and information for to aid him upon his ability to unpetrify himself. Also, how did the minds of the people of Ishigami village turn so far backwards and why was information and books not preserved? surely 6 intellectuals that were smart enough to make it into space could recognize the importance of education for their children's survival, and would not go generations allowing all of civilization to get covered in dirt right? wrong. somehow the descendants lose all technology and the most they can do is make pretty colored fire. ALSO after 3700 years a population of 6 became a population of only 40? I know inbreeding is a problem but they also don't have access to contraceptives' so surely the population would grow faster than this. Also if inbreeding is such a problem, why is it that everybody in the village is healthy and able bodies? are they discarded at birth if they have a deformity? this doesn't make sense. Also, one of the astronauts died of pneumonia, which was the weirdest death to incorporate, because access to modern medicine was not entirely gone, they could have done one trek over to Tokyo and easily got the medicine he needed but no they are like "not in this stone world" which doesn't make sense because everything else is NOT stone.

I'm in love with this anime. I never thought chemistry and physics interesting untilll I saw this. Story is very unique and I'm amazed with having anime like this. I really like postapocalyptic shows and this is how real apocalypse is done. The aspect of how they turned to stone and the passing of more that 3500 years is amazing. I also like the aspect of having villain in the story that motivates them to develop some weapons and makes the story quite interesting. Characters are interesting and every of them has some quality. And I simply love Senku, his brain is hilarious. and ideas are interesting. The others have interesting philosophy and everyone has some trait that is helpfull. I don't like Tsukasa as a villain, and his idea is different than Senku's and in the same time with a reason behind it, but reviving those stupid brutes had no sense at all. Art and sounds and animation are amazing. The biggest plus goes to voice actors, they did awesome job. Since I started watching this anime without any expectations, it turned out to be one of the biggest anime surprises. I really enojed it. And can't wait to see what new season brings.

The series thus far can be summed up as a lot of good ideas that are bogged down with a lot of bad ideas. The plot has a great premise. There is a flash of green light and everyone is turned to stone. Roughly 3700 years pass before some of them wake up, and now they're living in a stone age. It's up to our characters to survive in this new world. They accomplish this with scientific advancements. Still, the series is at it's best during specific flashbacks, which has some nice world-building and lore. The protagonist is intelligent, unlike the majority of shonen protagonists who are usually morons (incidentally, kudos to the series for initially fooling me on who the protagonist was). It's great to see a protagonist who handles conflicts using his brain. As a result we often get satisfying climaxes. However, it becomes apparent that he is too smart. He can make and do just about anything possible in the stone age, despite being a high school student. Why wasn't he a billionaire scientist somewhere? Oh who cares, this is shonen. Logic need not apply. Add in a stupid hair style that would make even Yugi Motto jealous and you've got your shonen recipe. I also wish he had more character depth other than "super smart guy." No romantic/sexual interest, no character motivations beyond helping everyone...he doesn't have a lot to him right now. The antagonist is another young man who can punch lions to death, crush statues with his bare hands, and catch crossbow bolts out of the air....because shonen I guess. Scientific explanations and project building can drag on and on, making large sections of the series boring. Some of these are not realistic anyway, particularly given some of the time constraints. Even a dozen Einsteins wouldn't be able to manage some of these feats...Oh who am I kidding? This is Senkuu. He's smarter than at least 20 Einsteins. The problem with all of this shonen nonsense is that it doesn't fit with the premise of the plot. The story should be a gritty, "overcome the stone age using my brain" story. Not a borderline super power fantasy which has no relation to the rules of the everyday-normal Japan universe it has. As a whole though, the characters are definitely interesting. I like most of them. But like Senkuu, they lack character depth at the moment. Here's hoping for that in future seasons. The art is fine, as are most character designs (Senkuu's hairstyle is still really dumb though). But the OST is bland and forgettable. Many anime would be so much better if they understood the artistic value of subtly. Dr. Stone is a prime example of this. It has a great premise and solid characters, but the story is marred with dumb shounen bullcrap, the 'science building' has a tendency to drag for several episodes too long, and a forgettable OST does it no favors. Hopefully future seasons are better, because this series has a lot of promise despite the problems.

I've finnaly completed this anime, so it's time for a review. SPOILER ALLERT! Story 8/10 Shonen anime, set in the future, after humanity has been turned into stone, when humans have finally been turned back into normal again, it was not the same. People had to start from scratch. There aren't many anime like this, so at first I thought it was creative and original. However, as the story proggressed, there was a backstory of protagonist's father, who was in space with six other astronauts when humanity was turned into stone. To summarize, they returned to Earth and founded a village, which stayed there still during the time hummanity was turned into stone, for 3700 years! That doesn't make sense. What remained was only a village with 40 residents which didn't technologically evolve in any way for 3700 years. They still lived like it was stone age. Art 8/10 Animation was nice and ful of color, however, what I dislike were female character designes. For an anime from 2019, they were outdated as hell. It's not 2007, damn it! Sound 6/10 Some of the worst voice acting you'll hear in anime. However, ost had that sound which were fitting with the theme of this anime. Character 9/10 In my Tokyo Ghoul review I have expressed I didn't like a generic protagonist like Kaneki. I'm satisfied that wasn't the case with Dr. Stone. I loved eccentric scientist Senku. There was a character I hated, Asagiri Gen. He was annoying af. Enjoyment 10/10 One of the most enjoyable animes to watch, you can learn about science in a very adventuristic and hillarious way! Overall, I give this anime 8/10. I recommend it for those individuals who like science and uniqueness.

It is my first Review so please don't be so strict. Totally mind-blowing how smart Senku is, every episode contains new mindblowing and interesting facts from chemistry and biology. If you are interested in these things and kind of a chemist you will love this. Also enjoyed the switches between making new inventions and the classic "battle against the antagonist" thing. The story is extremely well written (own opinion) and is still one of my favourites, especially towards the end. Epic music with an epic scenery makes everything round and beautiful. I also liked the humour very much. All in all a cool mix of nice Music, Story, Characters and interesting knowledge. Very excited for 2nd season.

Amazing idea, whole new perspective. It’s an anime that makes one appreciate the things that they have and didn’t actually realize how great having them actually was. Every episode I watch makes me feel appreciative of the things we almost forgot about. I’m almost thirty and I feel like there were many things that existed when I was young that youngsters these days don’t even know they existed. Back then they were the best things we could have and never would have thought that they had yet another upgrade. As an example; I bet many teens and even early-20s don’t know what a floppy disk is; one thing that we soooo much needed in our school days. Very interesting anim, I totally recommend it

It was alright. Pretty inoffensive in quality and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I liked the main protagonist, Senkou, for the most part. It was also enjoyable to watch him blow everyone’s socks off by making modern technology with primitive tools (even though it can be as ridiculous as it sounds at times). As for the other characters, I could take them or leave them. None of them made much of an impression, let alone a great one. The only characters that I didn’t like were Senkou’s best friend and his best friend’s girlfriend (for all intents and purposes). I found them pretty annoying, luckily they disappear after the first 8 episodes or so. The sound and music were pretty good. I liked how the music would incorporate more primitive instruments or even what sounds like rocks, which added some personality to the show. The animation was solid, but often felt like static manga frames with little attempt to use the tools available in the anime medium to enhance the original material. Another gripe that I had was with the humor. I did not vibe with the humor of the show at all. It mostly relied upon characters making overexaggerations with weird faces. This may have been effective gags in manga form, but in the anime at least, it felt pretty repetitive and too over-the-top to enjoy. Overall, I found Dr. Stone to be a decent experience that I could enjoy as some not-too-engaging entertainment. I’ll watch the next season, even though I don’t expect there to be much improvement in quality. It is closer to a 6 than an 8.

This anime is about a kid who is a teenager and he is a very smart man . He had a dream when he was in middle school that he wanted to be a Scientist. I really love this anime even tho some of its reactions went flying over my head. It has got these moments which will either make you fall in love with the Anime .The main focus of Dr. Stone is showcasing the brilliance of Senkuu and his little science team that he manages to gather. The gang of characters that he befriends all have their different gThe story starts off with Taiju finally deciding to confess his feelings to the girl he’s loved for all his life. But, just like all great things, this does not come to pass. Right before his confession, the world is petrified. Along with Senkuu, Taiju is one of the few characters who partially maintained his ability to think, and that was largely thanks to his overwhelming love for Yuzuriha.oals and personalities. The fiery Kohaku is the first of the many characters of the “new generation” that Senkuu encounters in his quest. She’s a fiery girl who’s one of the best fighters in this prehistoric world and one whose story I particularly enjoyed. Then there’s Chrome, the yang to Senkuu’s yin; a science user who’s shunned as a sorcerer as people find his interests weird. Overall, Dr. Stone was a great source of entertainment, and definitely one of my favorite anime of the year.

Dr. Stone is a science anime. Imagine if Bill Nye was sent to the stone age and had to invent a way to defeat physically superior cavemen. That's effectively what this is. Join the genius MC as he makes lots of crazy cool inventions in an over-the-top fashion each and every episode. The animation is great, the story is great, and the characters are hilarious. If I had to complain about anything, there could have been more plot covered in this season, as it does get a bit slow in between inventions. If you like science, engineering, or the premise of building civilizations from scratch then you will love this. An appreciation of comedy would also be good. As someone who has read the manga, future seasons will be events to anticipate!

TL;DR: Dr. Stone is a love letter to science filled with a really fun time that I would recommend to pretty much anyone, regardless of taste in anime. L;DR I did not think that I would love Dr Stone as much as I did. Going into it, I thought that the premise was interesting but unreasonable, and that the main character and his leek-looking hair wouldn't exactly be my cup of tea. I was very wrong. Dr Stone is a show that hooks you from the start. It's like watching that youtube channel Primitive Technology, but on crack. I got the same feeling watching those first few episodes as I do when I start a brand new survival Minecraft world. No matter what your preference in anime is, there is probably something you will like about Dr Stone. Ok, I'm going to break down the review a bit more. --(No spoilers, but be wary anyway as we might have a different definition of spoiler)-- ~WHAT'S GOOD?~ Dr Stone is the kind of show where, if I was asked by a newer weeb for an anime recommendation, I would instantly turn to Dr Stone, no matter the preferences of the person. That's just how good it is. Generally I can tell how good a show will be if I'm constantly thinking about it afterwords, and I can tell you for a fact that from the moment I finished the first episode Dr Stone has not left my mind for an instant. In the middle of my English class? My brain's thinking about the stone world. In French? I'm secretly looking at pictures of Senkuu on my phone. All day, I would just wait for the moment when I could go home, cuddle up with my dog, and put on the next episode of Dr Stone. That feeling that I got was so very special, and not many shows have given me this pleasure. It's this exact criteria which made Dr Stone go from "a good show" to "one of my favorites" STORY Ok, so maybe the story is a bit of a stretch- you will really have to suspend your disbelief on a lot of parts. For example, Senkuu counting for like 3,000 years? I just- Setting aside what's unreasonable about the show, it really does deliver on the interest factor. Even if you're the type of person who doesn't find science interesting, after only a few episodes you'll find yourself rambling about sodium chloride at the dinner table. The story is really engrossing, and although some of us don't like to admit it, probably peaked our interests in science as a whole. I myself know that I sure was a hell of a lot more excited to go back to Chem class the day after I finished my Dr Stone binge session. It's also a show that makes you think. Sometimes I would just pause and really think about technology. How long we've taken to get here, and how incredible what we're doing is when you consider where we started from. You also start to imagine what it must feel like to suddenly have your entire life ripped away. Oh yeah.. Time passes in this show! Like, realistically! Which is great for shonen. Some shows (ahem Detective Conan?) can be stuck in an endless time loop where the characters never age and time never passes. But, it's believable for the most part how months are passing in Dr Stone. THE OPENING I liked it. At first I wasn't a huge fan but I like the big start of the intro, it makes it more memorable and Good Morning World was ten billion percent stuck in my head for a long time. CHARACTERS The characters are all likable, especially Senkuu. Oh man, do I love Senkuu. But this is a review about the show, not of how I personally find Senkuu amazing, so I'm going to move on real quick. Each character has their own personality, and while there are some stereotypes and tropes that are filled, there is still uniqueness in each (cough cough Senkuu cough cough). For example, I thought that Gen's character was well done, and he became disliked to liked in a natural progression. Tsukasa, the main villain of the show, doesn't have very much time to shine, but you can get a grasp on his motives almost instantly. Each character is generally pretty easy to get a read on, except maybe Senkuu and Ruri. VOICES Very well casted, especially Senkuu! Each episode was ear-pleasing and everyone did a remarkable job. I took a little listen at the dub, too, and it doesn't sound half bad (I'm not usually a big fan of modern dubs so this is saying something) A little detail I particularly enjoyed was Senkuu's way of speaking. He's fond of phrases like "Ten billion" and "A millimeter" and "Exhilarating", and they are utilized almost like a catchphrase for him. It made me excited every time Senkuu was saying how he's "Ten billion percent confident" or that he has "not even a millimeter of interest" or, my favorite, "This is exhilarating". I don't even know what about it that makes me so happy, it just does. I love his exuded confidence, and I love watching him amaze the village with his sciencey stuff. COMEDY I wouldn't characterize Dr Stone as a show known for its comedy, but I like how over the top and absurd it is. Viewers can resonate with Gen, who's shocked faces and disbelief perfectly match mine as I watch Senkuu make glasses out of his primitive technology. There are serious moments in the show, but these are mostly offset by comedic character reactions which I found extremely enjoyable. It's fun. The characters are fun, and the show knows where it can take its liberties and make fun of itself. I'm not typically a laugh-out-loud kind of person, but Dr Stone managed to pull a few audible ones from me, and I'd say that's pretty good. THERE'S ACTION, TOO At first, Dr Stone wasn't really an action based show, but after Tsukasa and the village were introduced and we had the tournament arc I began to appreciate it. I'm a sucker for some good action (see: Yu Yu Hakusho) and I thought the way Dr Stone blends science and traditional shonen action was really, really interesting and well done. It's not the place to look for some crazy, intense, action only sort of thing, but for that perfect blend of different types of shonen. Ugh, it's just so damn good. ~WELL, WHAT ISN'T GOOD?~ Despite all of my praises, we all do have some faults... WELL... One problem with Dr Stone is that the show really lacks focus. There's not really a clear goal, an endgame, for the characters. I suppose this could be argued, but there's so many different goals set up one after another that I simply can't tell what direction it's trying to take us in. The first few eps make you think it's a show about rebuilding civilization to go to space, with Senkuu and his friends Taiju and Yuzuriha. And then they just... yeet Taiju and Yuzuriha out of the script. My guess is that in the original manga, they weren't as well received so the mangaka might have been told to add in a different cast (of course this is all speculation on my part, I have no way of knowing). Even so, I was almost frustrated when the show suddenly did a 180 degree shift from Minecraft Survival Mode to shonen-adventure, and the stone statues are almost never spoken of again. Well, it is a shonen jump series, so not really sure what I was expecting... After the introduction of Tsukasa, Senkuu's friends are replaced with a primitive village, allowing for a greater cast of characters- but also completely neglecting what we all thought we were getting. At this point, there's two different goals here, which is gaining the trust of the village as well as curing Ruri. It's fine. Until the show changes goals yet again, and suddenly it's all about a war and time is passing and we're getting flashbacks and- What I'm trying to say here is that it feels like everything was kind of written on the spot, coming up with new stuff as we go along. This isn't a bad thing, per se- for instance, my favourite mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi, has admitted in several interviews that she comes up with her stories as she goes, and look how successful she is. However, in the case of Dr Stone, it just seems unfocused. Each plot point seems like it was thought up on the spot, and then shoehorned in some…

It's appalling that a premise like Dr. Stone's has never been a concept explored in mainstream media. It's a genius concept, and the execution is fantastic in both the manga and the anime. The show focuses primarily on the rebuilding of humanity once everyone is turned into stone. Every episode features the main character, Senkuu, creating something from past civilization to progress humanity once more. In addition to the fun, D.I.Y. style of making things, the science and logic behind it all, and the in-universe appeal of said creations, the show excels in both character in humor as well. Particularly the main character is noteworthy for being one of the few notable protagonists to be the most entertaining aspect of the series itself. The show is extremely unconventional as far as Shonen Jump goes, and opts in to showcase science and world building (literally) with little to no battling. This, in my opinion, is a good thing. Not that battle shonen is bad (I'm quite fond of it myself), but having something truly original being mainstream like this is exhilarating. Give this show a chance. I'm ten billion percent sure that the majority of you will absolutely love it.

------------------------------------------------- Review ENGLISH / PORTUGUÊS-BR ------------------------------------------------- Stop reading reviews and watch. You will not regret! Nowadays it is rare to find animations that offer pleasure and culture. This anime manages to deliver a wonderful combination of science and fiction. I started watching this anime because it was one of the 'sensationalist' series of 2019. Surprisingly, I really got excited and started to enjoy the anime more with each episode. At first there is really no action or deep moments in it, but it is interesting to watch the main character slowly develop the technology in a primitive world. After the world is introduced and the characters are introduced to the viewer, each episode becomes unique, simple, beautiful, exciting and captivating. - I really loved each episode, so that consequently you get that "I want more" taste and always want to watch the next episode to see what happens next. Surely Dr. Stone made it onto my list of one of the best animes I've ever seen, and it's definitely worth watching. I've watched many animes over the years, but this is one of the few that I will continue watching until the end. In addition to being one of the rare animes that managed to make me tear up "cry :)".

Fine! I wish it was a seinen. The science is mostly correct but at the same most of the achievements done by the protagonist are surrealistic. The show is basically occurring in the age of stone. To go from the dark age to feudal age you need to prepare the basics ( stable Supply of food ) which came by the invention of agriculture & domestication. But none of this logic appear to make sense in the show though it's a show about science & logic. The protagonist who is supposed to be a genius is determined to revive humanity might by following the same motto humanity did which is industrialization over nature through inventing plastic, battery. But a genius person would notice that he/she has now the choice of making better decisions and not recreating blindly every invention.

dr stone to me is unlike any other anime i have watched, this may change when season 2 comes out but i am hopeful for it. the reason i rate dr stone so highly is because the plot its self drags you into the anime like getting hit with a bat, what if the world turned to stone and it was up to one to bring everyone back, there is so much material to work from. the animation is great it balances beauty and comic amazingly. the songs are amazing and adds so much emotion to the anime everytime they are played. the characters are developed enough that you care for them greatly and love every second of each one. i have to say i enjoyed this anime so much, honestly every episode made me tear up, the only reason why im giving it a 9 overall is because you are left confused by the antagonists ideology but in my opinion that did not bother me too much as it left me hanging on my seat whilst watching each episode.
