Bleach: Gotei 13 Omake
Bleach: 13 Court Guard Squads Omake

This was a weird one, why would you want a pointless 3 minutes long animation? Well, listening to Number One would be a great excuse for that. That song has an incredible ability to make you drown in an ocean of nostalgia, I don't know how they do it, but it always works like an ancient charm. Basically, you get the majority of captains and their lieutenant flashing on the screen like some card game ad, throwing one-liners all of the places while the fire OST is playing, the art style looks very odd, almost rehashed over its TV counterpart.

It's neither here nor there, it's just a trailer disguised as a special. Bleach: Gotei 13 Omake is, in practice, a preview of the Soul Society arc. The episode consists almost entirely of a compilation of scenes taken from the main anime, with some cuts and a different edit to remind viewers or introduce upcoming events. Anyone expecting new content, extra scenes, or any addition to the story will likely be disappointed. The biggest problem is precisely the lack of purpose. Since the scenes are already part of the anime, this special adds nothing to the experience. It doesn't develop characters, doesn't expand the universe, doesn't offer new information, and has no narrative value whatsoever. It's just a promotional montage that could easily have been released as a conventional trailer. On the other hand, there's not much to criticize in terms of quality either. The scenes used are from the anime itself, which already has good direction and animation for its time. The material is competent, but that's because it reuses something that already existed, not because of its own merit. Ultimately, it's a completely optional extra. If you intend to watch everything related to the franchise, you can take a look out of curiosity. However, for those who only want to follow the main story, this special can be ignored without any loss whatsoever. You won't miss anything and you won't miss any important moments. It's content that exists more for promotional reasons than out of necessity. It's not bad, but it also doesn't offer any reason to be remembered. Final score: 5/10. Nota final: 5/10.
