This is a really good love.romance with much to offer for those who like the reality type anime. The story between Yamato and Suzuka is really interesting with what starts out with what seems like a bad relationship, but sometimes dips into the "nice" section. The sports in this story help push along explanations for their relationship and allow for plot twists and love triangles. Overall the show is up to snuff, covering all the basics, but it lacks that extra push. Yes, characters are interesting, with even more appealing backgrounds, but I needed more than that. Plus the ending was cliche (well not really, there's more to it in the manga). 8/10, give it a try, its still worth the time.

Suzuka is a sporty take on the classic high school romance of its era. Its 2005 animation is retro for the modern day, along with many of its episodic plots, but the relationship between the two main leads is engaging and unique. The story utilizes a slightly melodramatic tone throughout, but never to the point of frustration. The main female lead, the titular Suzuka, maintains her likability through the ups and downs inherent in early 2000s anime while never feeling like a flat character. She is certainly best described as a tsundere character however, which may not be appealing to every viewer. Meanwhile, our protagonist Yamato Akitsuki may be one of the more interesting protagonists in the 2000s romance genre. He is a very confrontational character, often to a fault, and this flaw leads to many of the conflicts throughout the series. Because of this flaw, the audience is treated to an unusually active protagonist whom carries more agency than many of his contemporaries. In short, Suzuka is a nostalgic romance reminiscent of a different time in anime history; it is not, however, a generic story. For fans of the genre, and of 2000s romances in particular, it is definitely one to add to the list.

I'm going to be really bland here. Overall this anime is not as good as I expected. Like normal, the male MC acts stupid as fuck. And the plot is also kinda shit. I love short haired anime girls, but this one was kinda shit to be honest. But the thing that makes me feel weird is that, I feel like I want a second season to see what kinda happened after the ending. Fuuka is like a second season, but you'll understand if you watch that after watching Suzuka. Overall I rate this a 6/10. I just don't really like the plot, and I did not enjoy as much as I expected. But don't turn away from this anime just by seeing this review. Try it, and maybe you'll like it better than I did.

To be honest,I don't watch a lot of sports anime. The only sports anime I have watched were the awesome show, Bamboo Blade, that abomination called Wanna Be the Strongest in the World, and the OVERhyped recently aired show Yuri on Ice. Sports isn't my niche, since every sports movie I have watched ever had to do with either some team losing and then winning or some person being crap at sports and then getting better. But, this show is NOT a sports anime, its a really subpar romance"dramedy" with a stupid protagonist and probably the most insufferable girl to ever come across as a love interest. I'll try to make this as quick as possible to save your time. The story is about this boring guy named Yamato who falls in love with this track star Suzuka and pretty much falls head over balls for her and you think she would get the message but I guess it was her job to act like a bitch for the sake of the plot. Thus we have dumb characters making even dumber decisions that affect the other characters who don't get even a quarter of screen time as these two idiots.:oh and also there is some track sports introduced too. The animation is mediocre which doesn't make sense at all since this is a sports show.It has that budget that would be right for a romance but not enough to make a sports anime. BEGRUDGINGLY, the art really looks gorgeous during those scenes that take place at night with fireflies.(which happens like once in the whole show). The highest point of the show is it's soundtrack because believe it or not, its actually not bad, the Suzuka theme is nice to listen to, and the opening was really catchy. But that part only lasts for a moment before the insufferable characters, speaking of which......The characters, the main character, Yamato, is an idiot. He immediately falls in love with this girl jumping over a pole bar for some reason. And every time he makes a move, Suzuka acts like a bitch towards him either it being drama or being comedic. There is a whole reason why she acts like that and it's explained eventually but its so unbelievable and makes no sense. Then around the middle of the series , Yamato turns into Mokoto from School Days for some reason, and there are other characters but lets face it... you don't really care about them. The whole reason I watched this show was because it fitted in one of my favorite niches: slice of life. but I had no idea what I was in for when the back of the dvd said "love is not a spectator sport" but the way this show depicts love as American football in which two teams spend their time running into each other to achieve something but goes nowhere and leave everyone else hurt for nothing. Oh and that freaking stupid ending......the show STRUGGLED soo much to have this romance happen between these two idiots and Suzuka decides to act like a bitch at the wrong time and that chemistry just evaporates. It may not sound like it, but i do not completely hate this show.it was just disappointing. No matter how bad a show is, i am a musically inclined person so this show was lucky to have good music otherwise i would have crucified this show. Overall-5 I think the romantic tension between Taiga and Daiki from Kuroko no Basket is more interesting to see so, watch that instead.

I just started watching this anime and i only saw few episode but i like it so far.Its normal high school stuff but with each episode i am drawn to watch more and more. Its really nice and easy to relax when watching it and it has few hint of future romance that i really like and it can be funny at the moments. It is older anime from 2005 but still i think its worth watching because some of today anime have worse graphics and plots then older one.If you like school life, slice of life and romance then this is for you, don't know how will it develop since i watched few episodes but i am looking forward to more episodes and since i heard it is getting more serious later i can't wait to see how characters are going to develop..From 2 main characters that are getting closer little by little i expect a lot since male MC is little too carefree and female is little too mature but you know what they say:opposites attract each other so i hope one will be more mature and the other one will learn to relax more often because if you are too carefree in life you won't make it too far but also if you are too mature then you won't enjoy your youth and once its gone you cannot return to it and since we use anime to escape from reality we still need some real life stuff in it or we wont be able to connect to anime and if you are watching it just to pass time you are wasting it and this anime so far doesn't feel like a waste of time so please watch it for few episode and you will know if its alluring for you or not

After finishing a lot of other Romance/Comedy/Slice of life animes, I've been wanting to find yet another one to watch. I was on YouTube just two days ago and Suzuka episode 1 was in my recommendations. I came to this website to read the synopsis and after reading it, I thought I would give it a try. The anime seemed interesting from the start. I heard from people that this anime wasn't at all what they expected it to be and that it sucked, but I think that they're wrong. This anime was a really good slice of life and can be well related to some of us. People who like romance, drama, humor, and a good slice of life anime should really give this a try. The anime was somewhat of a slow start but it did have a lot of good character build up within the first couple of episodes. It was something I don't really mind because all animes should have character build up so you know who's who and what not. After the story really hit off, the anime got more and more interesting and really drew me in. I kept watching episode after episode to find that I finished the whole series in about nine and a half hours or so. I really thought that this anime was great. All in all, I thought that the anime was wonderful. It really got to me at some points. It made me tear up but, that's just me. It was a great romance, had really good drama, some good humorous parts, and some really good touching parts that'll give you some goosebumps. Pretty good "Slice of Life" as well.

Well, after finishing Suzuka all I can say is that I was utterly disappointed with it. For starters, this anime starts of well. With an almost fairy-tale like quality to it. Our main character, Yamato, first sees the heroine of the story (Suzuka) on his way over to his new apartment and instantly develops a crush on her. When, by pure coincidence, Suzuka turns out to be his next-door neighbor and lives in the same block of apartments as him. This is where the fairy-tale aspect comes into the show, there's a lot of charming little coincidences like this and this allows us to really look forward to how the relationship between the main characters develop. However, this story wants to be realistic and make the relationship development seem like a struggle. So our two main characters develop strong imperfections out of nowhere. Past episode six, Yamato becomes a thick-headed idiot who can't decide things for himself and follows Suzuka around to an almost stalker-like tendency and Suzuka herself becomes a stubborn, cold-hearted character with more mood swings than any other female character in the anime medium. This makes the show become a chore to watch and this only worsens when you realize that by episode twenty-four, they still haven't had any heart-felt moments since episode six. (Which is the episode before everything went wrong, surprise, surprise.) As for the other characters, they're nothing important and mostly bland archetypes. Which doesn't help to pull the story along at all. There's also a second love interest for Yamato, who creates a love-triangle, but she mostly serves as padding and nothing is gained with her on-screen presence. I've left the art and sound till last because they isn't much to say about them. The art is low-budget but not painful to look at and does get you by if can overlook a few odd bits here and there and the sound isn't too good either. The opening music is good, but the sound in the actual show is boring and repetitive as well as just feeling lackluster. In the end, I'll wrap up this review that by saying that Suzuka starts off as a sweet, romantic anime with potential. But suddenly tries too hard to be realistic after episode six and in doing so, all the imperfections of the characters grow and become more painfully obvious until they are completely unlikable people. I imagine that Suzuka wanted to be like Pride and Prejudice, but was way out of it's league and ended up forgetting the qualities that made it good in the first place.

I personally enjoyed main character relationships, although all the way trough the story it felt to me that something bad will happen to the main male character and that he would end up in hospital, but the producers actually made it different and in the end it was just a happy ending. Personally I would have like bit more drama, but that's just my taste.

I loved this anime. I think that it was well thought out and the artist did a great job of showing expressions and portraying those feelings. I'd say it was one of the best ones yet even tho a lot of people dont think the same. I think they NEED to come out with season two to finish up the manga. But those who did like the anime you have to read the manga as well if you haven't yet. It was great as well. Also even tho it was predictable it was the story leading up to the conclusion that made it a great anime.

I love "Slice of Life" anime. Something about characters just going through life, falling in love, going to school. I just get the most enjoyment out of those kind of anime. Suzuka has that feel like no other. The music is amazing, and the layout of Tokyo is beautiful. The story is a boy who travels to Tokyo to go to high school there. He lives with his aunt who oparates a womens bath house. While in school Yamato happens upon a girl named Suzuka who he immediately falls for. Only to find out later, she lives right next door to him. the final outcome is really satisfiying and its a happy one, which I always love in slice of life stories. Suzuka is charming and full of heart, its not something you should go and see right away, but if you get the chance too jump right on it. It's also the perfect anime for a rainy day.

The ultimate story of a fucking simp and an indecisive bitch. The MC is pathetic as fuck, she rejected you already - stop about thinking of confessing already and the fucking bitch ,I get it you are sad over a dead dick , so when you have already once rejected the MC stop giving him false hope every now and then. I can't believe i sat through all of these, Habisu was a good friend , Yobinasu should have punched the fuck out of the pathetic MC, Honoka's characters is nice , she is better than Suzuka ( fight me ) , just lacking in confidence and dominance.

The anime is good for an old one. I realy like the strive of Yamato and his determination to do everything to get what he wants but I dont think that Suzuka Asahina deserves it because she in not a Tsundere she is just a BITCH. For a sport/ romance anime is good for its time , but I would have liked a diferent ending. It gives me the OREIMO disappointment from the ending. I think the ending is too forced and too predictable. Just look at the girl on the cover and you will know how it will end. I think I can say I enjoyed Suzuka. It provided what I was looking for: No violence, just calm and serene scenes. I liked it, liked the story but HATED the ending. I would not rewatch the anime because I think its not worth the time invested for a rewatch but It's nice to watch the anime for the first time.

Very short review but here it is. The characters are interesting but this is one of those anime where it seems that the main character is always in trouble with the female populace. When it comes to the girl he is pursuing I think it's safe to say that he is a masochist and a glutton for punishment. The animation would be considered terrible by today's standards but for its time I suppose it was decent. I like that it is a direct prequel to Fuuka and serves to follow the romance of the generation before. All in all if, like me, you're a sucker for romance then give it a go.

Ok so this is my first ever review, and with the sequel, Fuuka, just dropping I figured now would be as good a time as any to write a review for this show. *Full disclaimer* The main reason I'm writing this is because Suzuka was the first romance anime I ever had the pleasure of watching. I had been into shounen like DBZ and Naruto for years prior, but freshman year of college was a dark time for myself and I found this anime out of the blue, started watching and instantly fell in love with the premise of the romance/slice of life genre. In short Suzuka got me through an incredibly trying time in my life and was my gateway to the wonderful anime community as a whole and it will forever hold a special place in my heart because of that! With that out of the way, Suzuka is a lovely romance/slice of life anime that throws sports into the mix to make for a very interesting story in my opinion. The use of sports to explore the relationship between two people is nothing new, and there have been many a movie and TV shows that have done it better I can assume, but despite that the story just sticks with ya and I think the MCs' relationship developing around their sporting activities helps with that. While I've seen many a people complain about the contrived nature with which the romance develops in the show, and I can completely understand that point of view, I think that if one looks a little deeper and really tries to get inside the head of the titular character Suzuka, you'll come to have a much more profound understanding of why the romance develops the way it does. Suzuka is great because the feelings presented by the MC Suzuka are so complex, so real that you can feel the conflict that she feels and the way it is presented is quite masterful imo. If you want an anime that will leave you with a huge case of the feels then look no further, and if you are a relative new comer to romance and slice of life and shojo genres, then I think this a perfect gateway anime to get your feet wet, and if you end up wanting to dig a little deeper into it that option is always there as well.

This is my first ever review, also my english isn't quiet good,so please bear with it. Story : 8 At first glance, maybe you'll think suzuka is just like any other love story. But it came to wrong after i'm watching several episodes. This show has a good story, and above of it,Suzuka has the uniqueness eventhough it has the mainstream story and character, and i personally really like that from Suzuka. They even have unexpected turn of event,so i really recommend this show if you looking for a romance themed anime,or for someone who getting bored with mainstream romance anime.. Art : 7 well,i can't write much about this part, but i think Suzuka have some quite awesome art(remembering the date of this show was made) but honestly,i really expecting there's some good-looking heroine in this show, but i got myself a little dissapointed after watching the early episodes of the show (well,it got covered by the story of the show after all) Sound: 8 I personally think that both Opening and ending a bit average. They aren't so catchy for me .But still, they do have some skill in the song.Especially the second ending,i think that the best soundtrack among the other. Character : 7 well, one thing i have to say, i'm not really understand what is on Suzuka (the female lead character) mind. She's sometime being a bossy, and sometime being a nice girl who notice and help Yamato (male lead character).Well, i think that's one of this show interest after all Enjoyment : 7 The show enjoying me with their unexpected turn of event, and the sliice of life. The story rally flow well Overall : 8 well after all, this show is quiet good and and i'm personally recommended it

This anime has it's ups and downs. It's quite an interesting show since the possibilities of what happens is vast. The only down side is that it would have been better if more focus was put into making the story deeper rather than being about love 90% of the time (or a 100%). The ending was quite odd since it doesn't really wrap the whole story up but a part of it. If you are looking for a good romance anime then you will probably like this.

Art 7/10 - character design was ok. the artist had a way of making the characters have a "good angle" in regards to the characters looking better at certain moments. the animation however was satisfactory. This is probably most noticeable when people are running As for the story (8/10)... I thought it'd just be the usual in a romance anime - lead male tries to win over the lead female throughout the entire anime, but I was wrong. The story went into different things such as the lead male actually joining AND making progress in a club. Another thing the story went into, which is the first time I've seen it in an anime, is a different love interest. This was very interesting and felt like it gave the enjoyment a boost just as the enjoyment might have been peaking. However, this can serve as a distraction to the main plot. I couldn't even support the ending whole-heartedly because of this. Speaking of plot... because the story went into different things it takes until almost the end of the anime before the real route is resumed (like I said.. distraction right?) Sound 9/10 - Good opening song and the BGM was perfect. The BGM was subtle but it could still emphasize the scenes and make you feel more Character 8/10 - We've been given a handful of colorful characters here, though not much character development happens. Some of the supporting cast were pretty rounded which was enjoyable. It's silly how important a certain support character is, yet how little impact they made. Enjoyment 9/10 - The anime is very interesting. You should give it a try at the very least.

This anime is very romantic and heart warming. I watched all of suzuka and couldn't stop its more about romance than sport. This series is a must watch no matter what people say. I liked it because of the romance and sports and the charactor's personalitys.

Okay so.. Suzuka.... While watching the whole series and i was amazed at myself for actually finishing it because the whole time i was watching it, i felt like i wanted to stab the creators in the eyelash through the whole show. This anime will piss you off when you are expecting something to happen. I never really got what i expected until the last episode and it was really strange in my opinion.. but if you have a lot of patient to keep up with an anime like this... go for it
