Art: I love the vibrant colors in this movie so much. The art-style is amazing, its fun and matches the story very well. Story: This movie made me emotional at some parts. Just because its relatable with feeling insecure about something so you try to hide it. I loved this movie tbh until the ending scene, It was on the right track and it had good potential. But i couldn't help but cringe the entire time. The way the guy mc looked like he was rapping the entire time around old people was just ? Character: The only development i saw was the mc's embracing their insecurity's. But like, that's it? Enjoyment: This movie had me hooked the whole time, even though the ending made me cringe i still watched the entire thing without breaks or spacing out. Overall: 8. I wouldn't recommend this movie. but if you have nothing else to watch its not bad.

It was a cute movie. A lovely one. I was watching to waste time but was teary at some parts. It didn't have a good plot, I didn't mean it wasn't good, maybe slice of life and slow plot isn't my thing. But overall it was an enjoyable movie. Maybe if it was longer to develop some chemistry between Cherry and Smile, I would enjoy it more. I really the music at the end too. The art was cute, and the way Cherry blush red, even to his feet. MAL I try my best to write a long review, pls let me submit it.

Honestly, most of the time I see a "Netflix Original Anime' , I'm disappointed. However, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop was a decent exception. The anime is a 'boy meets girl' focused around a shy guy who can't express himself without haikus and a bubbly popular girl who isn't comfortable with the way she looks. The two meet, stuff happens, the end. Story-wise, the anime is as cliche as they come, nothing spectacular. However, I really enjoyed the art and the voice acting. Music is amazing as well. Though the characters aren't given too much of a backstory or buildup, I also personally believe the characters aren't forgettable, I really liked the voice acting on the male protagonist. All in all, the anime is a decent use of time to get your fill of some high school summer rom-com without too many elements. Nothing insanely spectacular but definitely a movie worth your time.

Imagine a world full of a myriad of vibrant colours as far as the eye can see. A world full of eclectic eccentric characters who's lives begin to unravel before your very eyes, sprinkled in with a summer romance, and this, is how we enter the world of words bubble up like soda. The story begins with a young man named koichi sakura, or as others most know him by, cherry. Who is known for being a shy boy who keeps to himself whilst constantly writing haikus. We watch cherry as his daily life goes on throughout summer break. He temporarily takes over his mother's job as she has suffered an injury thus unabling her to work. Amidst his daily life, at the oda nouvelle mall, cherry mistakenly gets caught up in a delinquent child's drama who is known as beaver. As beaver and cherry get tied up, cherry ends up falling into a young shy influencer, known as smile. As the two begin to take a tumble due to beavers actions, their personal property's get mixed up in the madness and cherry and smile accidentally pick up each others phone. From there the true story of their connection to one another begins. Smile locates her phone via a computer and realises it's at the mall but before she can manage to run energetically towards the front door, her sister stops to call her phone in the hopes that someone may pick up in order to locate smiles phone. The phone, which is in cherry's possession is answered by the feisty young boy known as beaver, beaver answers the phone for cherry as he is too shy to answer the phone himself and beaver one ups the intensity by switching the voice call to a video call which becomes nerve racking for those on both ends of the phone. As smile manages to retrieve her phone from cherry & gives him back his possession from the prior mix-up, she begins to take an interest in cherry's love and passion for haiku. The two begin to connect so much that they even begin to connect online with one another whilst taking an interest in each others hobbies. Throughout this journey, we begin to see two young adolescents create a deep unbreakable bond, which ultimately, allows both of them to break through the everlasting barriers of their insecurities whilst enabling the seed of love to blossom within their souls. It is a beautiful yet simplistic story which symbolises the power of the emotion we all know as love, and how far we are willing to go to hold on to, and cherish, the love we have for those who we hold dear to our heart. Along with this beautiful story, there is also a diverse cast of supporting characters, who each have their own unique stories. yet somehow their everyday lives manages to pull this cast together to unite as one whilst always being ready to help each other out at a moments notice. The beautiful artwork manages to bring together this wholesome yet bitter sweet love story together along with a soundtrack that creates the right melody's for every environment drawing you in ever closer to enjoy this world and watch this engaging story unfold. Words bubble up like soda pop is definitely a film that you must watch, the unique differences within the story, melodies and artwork all balance together as one, making this the perfect film for any occasion and much especially for summertime. P.S This is my first ever movie review which i first wrote 5 years in 2021 when the film released. This film was so inspiring to me as a visionary and a creative writer that it made me start writing movie reviews and in 2026 this film still holds up. Words bubble up like soda is a timeless classic and a hidden gem 💎 that deserves to grace everyone's eyes for them to see.

Generally speaking, I think that this movie was a fun movie, but I can't give it more than a seven. Is it because of the lack of fighting and that sort of action? No, because there are good, even GREAT romantic movies and shows in anime. Is it because of the ideas behind the movie? Not because it's a very cute movie, all things considered. But I think that there are movies and shows that have been released both before and after the movie's release that did better. One of said series is, arguably, Your Lie in April. BUT if you're looking for a heart-warming movie that'll fill the time, this is definitely a good one.

Words bubble up like Soda pop is a sweet story with a beautiful aesthetic. While it is romantic the main relationship & characters feel jumpy at times, skipping ahead without much explanation outside of Haiku & the removal of masks the characters use to hide insecurities. The importance of memory & expression is on full display with the main characters' interests and what little we see of the side cast. The true romantic moments came from the grandpa’s search for a record rather than the main duo themselves although their connection while initially forced was subtle & lovely nonetheless. The finale drags on and dispels suspension of disbelief for multiple moments & conclusions but the overall movie despite it remains sweet & simple, as such if you want an entertaining movie with light romance, Soda pop can provide that.

Qué pelicula más bonita joe The soundtrack is flawless, the characters are unique and the plot, even if simple, doesn't feel boring. Made me cry all the way. Definitely recommended. Talks real issues like insecurities and the world sometimes just being too loud for some people. The old man's story is simply beautiful. I can see why some people might not like it, but saying it's boring it's a complete lie if you are able to appreciate the music and amazing art of this movie correctly. I was recommended this one by a friend, and it didn't disappoint. All that said, it becomes quite angsty at some point, so if you aren't in for an emotional rollercoaster, you might want to skip this one.

A very light-hearted, sweet romance between two teens who are both self-conscious in different ways. It has a vibrant art style with colours that truly pop. The animation is quite unique, especially in the way the characters move. This is particularly noticeable in the opening mall scene, but I didn’t mind it. The OST is wonderful, and the characters are all very likeable. The story isn’t particularly memorable, as it delves into a bit of mystery involving a music record they’re trying to find. It features lots of typical anime clichés, including the ending. However, it’s a fine watch if you’re just looking for a relaxing 90-minute romance.

An explosion of colors met my eyes. The art for this show was so vibrantly detailed that I couldn't help but get immersed in the feeling of watching an amazing fireworks show. The simple but pleasant storyline and likeable characters gave me a warm feeling while watching. The soundtrack was also very fitting with the theme of the story. Without spoiling too much, I must say I like how Cherry confessed his feelings for Smile. Overall, I enjoyed the show very much. If you like heartwarming SoL and light romance stories, I would say give this show a try. Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru was a wonderful show to end the day with.

*No spoilers* Summary Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop tells the tale of two teenagers who work through their insecurities as they connect with one another. The movie explores topics such as neurodiversity, communication, and insecurities, with some wholesome intentions, young romance, and friendship. The story explores these themes with success, wrapping up with a pleasant ending and incorporating characters and a simple plot that slice-of-life fans will enjoy. In this way, it homes in on insecurities in a way that is likely relatable and palatable for teenagers. However, it is not a ground-breaking story, and it does not deeply examine these themes. I recommend this film for its entertainment, pleasant, and “chill” approach to addressing the topics, though it is not revolutionary. Story: 7/10 The story is unpretentious, and this simplicity keeps the viewer intrigued without exploring dark topics. In a way, this maintains a slice-of-life feel while also exploring some challenging themes, such as insecurities, neurodiversity, and relationships. There are plenty of shows, movies, and novels that explore these themes in more depth, although some are more effective and some fall short when compared to Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. The main characters, Smiles and Cherry, each have their own insecurities and challenges with communication which is evident in the opening scenes. From there, they mix up their belongings and end up developing a friendship. The story follows these two, as well as the side characters, as they support one another and help an elderly man find a certain record. The pacing is slow at the start, and there are times where some more development could have been used (see characters), but the plot sticks to a rather linear approach to story-telling, which works sufficiently. It also challenges the characters well so that they can develop by the end. One weakness is that the character’s initial interactions seem somewhat forced. They meet up to exchange phones, but then the plot puts them back together for another reason. That second reason (no spoilers) could have been explored more, which is also included in the characters section of this review. Overall, the story is simplistic and predictable, but it is moderately meaningful and genuinely enjoyable. Characters: 7/10 Generally, the characters are interesting and bring meaning to the story. Personality wise, Cherry and Smiles are wonderful, and they are written to grow individually and by supporting one another. Their friendship (no spoilers) is wholesome and feels natural once it starts to develop; however, there are flaws with these two characters. First, the story would have benefited from more initial information about Cherry and Smiles. The viewer knows from the start that Cherry has some form of a communication disorder, and we know that Smiles is insecure about her teeth. However, we don’t know why she goes from loving her teeth to this sudden insecurity. Additionally, Smiles seems rather unrealistic when she is introduced. She’s supposed to be a popular social media streamer named Smiles, despite covering her smile. Although this irony is probably intentional, it does cause some misconceptions at the start. The second issue with Cherry and Smiles is their clear initial social differential. It is uncertain why Smiles, who is clearly popular and socially has many potential mates, returns to Cherry at the mall. The story would have grown immensely if it had touched on this topic, especially because we know Cherry struggles with communication. Even something simple, like having a short conversation with her sisters about characteristics she likes about Cherry, curiosity, or even wanting to learn about his disorder, would have gone a long way. As I mentioned, these two work great together once their common goals are established and they interact more regularly, and they have the potential to complement one another in essential ways, which is the premise of the story. The side characters add to the plot, although they are rather basic and not spectacular. However, what makes the characters above-average is how they are wholesome. The story really focuses on the good in people, which can be quite uplifting. Sure, the story doesn’t blast the viewer with the injustices of society and the bullying that is a common occurrence for people like Cherry, but it sheds some light onto how wholesome people can still exist. That’s a beautiful theme that’s developed through the characters. Art: 8/10 The art is probably divisive for some anime fans, but the unique textures and vivid colors really bring the characters to life. It also shines in expressing the importance of art in the movie: haiku is used to communicate in the same way that the vibrant and distinctive art conveys its own message. The character designs, walking animations, and even the scenery, are all captivating and unique. They bring out the positive vibes of the story. Nonetheless, the scenes with more action are a bit jerky on the eyes. Specifically, there’s a skateboarding scene that doesn’t seem too fitting for the art style. Sound: 8/10 The soundtrack is perfectly fitting. It has a chill but bright vibe that helps to develop the setting. Kensuke Ushio’s work is wonderful, as usual. I will say that this soundtrack may be different from what the viewer might expect, but that’s a good thing. The English dub is excellent. Enjoyment: 8/10 I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Sure, it wasn't as deep as I would have liked, but it was certainly a pleasant story. Total score: 7.6/10 (great)

Words bubble up like soda pop was such a unique movie on its art-style. The voice acting for the dub was not really good, sub was way better. The music was outstanding of course but pacing wise was a bit too rushed. I did love the idea of others having insecurities. The pacing felt rushed by the ending and middle. The animation was decent and there is really nothing to say but it's okay. The art style and the story didn't really mix in well for a romance and drama though. I will recommend it to people who just want to see it just for the sake of it but for me, I'm out.

"Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru" follows the story of two young people, Yui "Cherry" Sakura and Yuki "Smile" Hoshino, who meet while working together at a welfare facility during the summer. Cherry is passionate about haiku poetry, but his writing goes unnoticed, while Smile is an up-and-coming influencer who hides her smile due to braces on her teeth. When the two meet, they embark on a mission to help a senile elderly man named Fujiyama find an old vinyl record he owns and wants to listen to before his memories fade completely. They only have the record's sleeve and the word "yamazakura" as clues, and their search begins in the sweltering summer heat. The art in the series is beautiful and captivating, and the story features touching and nostalgic moments. However, the plot is fairly simple and may lack excitement at times. Additionally, the translation sometimes causes important details to be lost, especially in Cherry's poetry and Beaver's corrections. Overall, "Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru" is a series with its ups and downs. While the art is good and there are exciting moments, the simple plot and translation issues may cause viewers to lose interest. Therefore, my rating would be a 5/10. I recommend watching it casually.

English. A film that you will love for its animation and for the little love story it has. You can see the love they put into the animation of the film and that they really made an effort to get the product out, even so the story they tell we have already seen repeatedly in the anime (boy falls in love with girl, girl falls in love as a boy, but although the two are in love, they will not confess to each other until the end of the film). Even so, it is not the type of film that I like, I think that the story, although it soothes the heart, is not anything new that will captivate you or you will stay with it for a long time, it is an acceptable and temporary film that you could put on a Sunday in the television, with some popcorn and a soft drink (what an irony!).

Hi guys konbanwa well I just finished a movie called Saidā no Yō ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru and check it out I WATCHED FULL PORTUGUESE I was curious to see the dubbing and yes it is very good I will have to see the Japanese one yet It's a very, very beautiful, cute romance movie and it brings you immense joy when watching at first it seems like a strange anime, but over time you realize the feelings of the protagonists and how they think The novel ends up closed and it's a shame that it was such a short movie 1h and 27 minutes is not enough! I wanted more The way the YAMAKURAI disc discovery was carried out was in a very good way Besides making us think about the past I highly recommend it for fans of cute and short movies to pass the time, but it leaves you stuck for the whole movie!!! 9/10 "I really like your cute smile" "Falling Cherry Blossoms"

"Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop," Such a simple statement (title and haiku as well) but...it works so amazingly well to define an action that we overlook every day. I loved this movie. I loved everything about it. From its character's to bright art, and messages and lessons that the story moves to conquer. The story itself is unlike something I've ever seen. A boy who struggles to speak and tries to convey his messages through the art of writing haikus meets a girl who is sensitive about her braces and buck teeth. Together, they assist each other in their downfalls all while trying to help and old man find a music record that carried the voice of his late wife that he longed to hear again. Now I've seen movies such as "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish" and "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" that convey very similar boy/girl relationships. They each have an insecurity and with the help of each other, overcome it. Both of these movies handled that incredibly well, and thus received additional high scores from me. But in this movie...it was handled a little differently. Maybe it's because there wasn't anything too tragic to occur or maybe because the problems/insecurities were so universal and innocent and, dare I say, typical...that it made it all the more beautiful and memorable. Conquering your short comings, accepting them, making friends and connecting lives together from an old love to create a new one... It made me utterly speechless. Now I gave it an 8, because yes, shortcomings exist. Animation was a tiny bit sloppy at times, even a bit cartoony, but I still loved how bright it was. Pacing felt a little fast in some occasions and the music was lacking in some areas. Aside from that..."Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop" was a beautiful film and I highly recommend it

Story [6/10] : Overall I think the story is alright. Nothing special or outstanding. I think it is most unique with it's incorporation of haiku and the character of Cherry. Art [7/10] : Decent for the most part. I think the animation can look a little janky sometimes, but I like the vibrant colors and it doesn't look too bad ever. Sound [5/10] : The dub for this show is kind of awful and can make it hard to pay attention to the story sometimes, so I think it's exactly average. None of the music stood out to me much, except for maybe the final song. Character [6/10] : I like Cherry's character as a haiku writer and his inability to express himself through speech. Smile is nice and I think watching their relationship grow over time is the best thing about the show. The side characters are mostly just there in service of their relationship and the story. Enjoyment [6/10] : I think it's just alright. I think the main issue stems from the translation of haiku into English, with both the sub and the dub. It's an art and form of writing, and the translation of them don't work very well. I think if I understood Japanese, I would enjoy this movie more. But I don't, so. Overall: [6/10]

The story follows the plot of a boy meets girl, form a bond, and as the movie continues, they learn more about each other and somewhat influence each other to come out of their respective comfort zones. It's mediocre at best but if anyone is looking for a somewhat realistic take on this relationship, then this movie does it well. The art is full of vibrant colors, it can throw someone off if they're new to this style. But the art style sets the general atmosphere of the film. The soundtrack is really good, the music from the start of the movie all the way to the ending are all pleasing to listen to and compliments the whole movie. The characters are all what you'd expect, Cherry looks like the usual male protagonist, while Smile looks like the same trendy popular girl in social media. The movie is enjoyable regardless, it's fun to follow the plot while watching Cherry and Smile try their best to overcome their own insecurities. It's also fun to re-watch and observe each time a haiku is presented in the movie as they provide a bit of summary to what happens in each scene. If anyone wants a romance, slice of life anime film to pass the time, then this movie is just for you.

Had heard about this movie. Decided to watch it when i saw it in the crunchyroll awards. It was a pretty solid nomination, kinda on the same wavelength as Josee Tiger and Fish. Story:: started off pretty strong we were given both the MC and FMC weakness. One feels worthless as no one really appreciates his art and also has to force himself at times to live according to societal norms, the other has to live up to an image and can dare not tarnish it. Both tackle the pressure of social media where a certain type is found to be ideal and you gotta mould yourself to it,so basically real life 😂. This was perfect and that should have been the main story however the introduction of grandpa and his request became a sort of generic or traditional route of the story. The kind viewers can easily follow. However in doing so we lost a much more compelling storyline to a slightly generic albeit beautiful storyline. The romance between the two MCs didn't feel at times, evethough the MCs confession was awesome. Amazing use of haiku 👏. Art:: This was something different from the norm. You get bright vibrant colours and over the top animation and it all wells up so well that you forget it's supposed to be romance story. As you normally get shoujo setting animation in romance story. Lack of realism but so gooooooood. Sound:: nothing very eargasm like but still it was nicely done. You got the emotions right where you wanted with it. I wish more could have been done. Voice acting was alright, though I watched dub so I won't say much but yeah dub still lacks the natural feel to it as sub does. Character:: MC and FMC were amazing, as I said they had solid plots and if the story had focused more on them than trying the normal route it would have been better. Grandpa Character was introduced for the said normal route his entire role was to provide a goal and moral support. Same for the other characters, everyone was just so 1 dimensional that I'm sure i'll forget them by the next couple of hours. So yeah not good characters. Enjoyment:: I'm a sucker for romance so I enjoyed everything from the final confession ato the time when they both followed each other on twitter. I loved the use of haiku throughout the movie and eventhough I watched it dub it felt so beautiful. But yeah i could still see better plotlines and you know 'things that are supposed to happen for the story to happen'- I could spot them. So yeah good to watch this if you just want to pass the time with something wholesome. You'll enjoy it. The only reason it'll stick with me for beyond a month is the art style otherwise I'm pretty sure it'd have been forgotten in 2 weeks. RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT SOME HARMLESS FUN. Thanks for reading. See you later ✌❤

If I could describe this movie in two words it would be lo-fi vibes. It's a very chill and cute movie, kinda gives this comfortable feeling when you're watching it. The animation is freaking BOMB! My favorite part is the colors, I loved how they popped out, giving this colorful vibe without exaggerating. The plot is very nice, cute, and wholesome. I love how both MCs have issues and try to overcome them together but their romance didn't strike me that much. On contrary, the grandpa's love story was more interesting and stand out for me more than the main couple. The end gave me a feeling of closure, but I still needed a little bit more. Overall, it's a nice movie, I would definitely recommend it for someone who just wants to chill out without facing a big roller-coaster of emotions.

Pleasant to your eye and easy to follow is the strongest element of this movie. You also can called it unique and clean you won't find the vibrant color and good design as good this series in another series. The story tell us about Cherry and Smile love story during their summer days. As someone who not enjoy haiku very much I can't relate to much to Cherry hobby but as someone who shy around people like Cherry I can understand him. He who meet someone special that can completed him and supporting him is something that happen to lot of us. And you can't help it ended up falling in love with someone like Smile. This is story that sometime love come find you in the unexpected time, place and condition. That is not much conflict in this movie, and a lot of story happen only on Mall and some record shop. But it is good explanation why Cherry and Smile ended up falling in love. But of course Cherry will find an obstacle to his love. Can Cherry get through the obstacle and become Smile boyfriend? Find it by watch the movie. In conclusion this series is good and unique. Maybe it is predictable but you can keep enjoy the movie. You will see a lot of tomato face in this movie. And the message of the story has been delivered well enough.
