Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
Lol_man000
Isekai anime have plagued the anime industry with subpar stories, overpowered characters, and genuinely copied stories. I often decide not to watch isekai anime as a result. However, I can say that without a doubt, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is one of the anime that serves the isekai genre right. Many people are dissapointed by how Mushoku Tensei is a very pervy anime. And to some extent, I do agree with this; there are many questionable things that take place in this anime. However, I think the horniness of the characters also brings about a certain point which many isekai anime fail to miss. The MC doesn't change from his past life. In Rudy's previous life, he was looked down by everyone. As a result, he stayed away from the outside, and began to hate himself and his personality. He is a degenerate through and out, and does not seem to care for how creepy his actions can be. It would be a much worse anime if Rudy had changed into Prince Charming because that isn't really the person who Rudy was before. This is what differentiates Mushoku Tensei from many of the other isekai out there. In this anime, there is no good person. Everyone has some corrupted aspect of themselves (*cough* Paul *cough*) which really resembles what would happen even in this world. Rudy became strong as a magician because he learned from childhood with an adult mind. But even then, there were people just as strong as him, and he was much weaker than other characters. Rudy can't save everyone and he has to find out what to protect. Another thing that is great about this anime, is that all the characters are likeable. Each character has their own personalities and flaws, and they don't follow simple tropes. No matter how small a part they play, the author does a great job by making them memorable. This attention to descriptiveness and detail is also particularly exemplary as the anime even created a set of different languages for each species (more specificially, they actually used different symbols, writing, and speaking which all was paternistic). This really fleshes the unique dynamic of worldbuilding in the anime. While Rudy is the main character, he isn't the complete main focus of the story being told, and different parts of the world are being visited and built on top of each other. Due to fabulous worldbuilding and great characters, the story becomes very good and hooks in the audience to continue watching. The art could have been done much better. Characters are not always fully shaded out, and the colors seem rather bland. The fight scenes are awesome, but they aren't exemplary. I do enjoy how the spells are cast throughout the anime however. Despite its blandness, it was still watchable and on par with most anime. The music was great. The ending music is fabulous, and it is definitely one of my most favorite ones of this season. The OSTs match the mood very well especially when they are in the Demon land. This really enhances the overall appeal of the animethroughout. And the fact that the visuals changes or the anime plays while the OP starts, shows that Mushoku Tensei isn't trying to rush everything. The first 9 episodes of the anime were really just the starting; the rising action only started in the 10th episode. The fact that the anime was so enjoyable even though the story has not progressed that far yet, proves to show that Mushoku Tensei has a lot of potential for the second cour, and I am excited for when it comes out!

I have to say, picking this show to watch this season is something I will never regret. There may be a lot of you wondering whether this show is worth your time. Well, I believe it will be a great pickup for you to watch. Here is why. If you like the Isekai genre you will definitely enjoy Mushoku Tensei. This show puts a unique twist on the genre. Usually a typical Isekai title would randomly teleport the protagonist into an unknown fantasy world as themselves. Not Mushoku Tensei, the main character was a NEET in his 30’s when he unfortunately got himself evicted and then got involved in an accident which killed him. This is where things take a different turn. He is basically reborn in an entirely different world with magic and adventurers as a baby with a completely different appearance. He basically has a do-over where he actually has a strong talent as a mage. From episode 1 to 11 we watch the protagonist grow up physically while he overcomes his past mental trauma from his previous life. This show has huge character development which is what I believe makes one aspect of a great anime series of this genre. This show combines Isekai and Drama which I think make this series very good and easy to watch. This show also has some partial humor and clichés, but they are well balanced and make the show more fun rather than bland in my opinion. Beauty in my eyes. What is even better is that there is a lot of material for the animators to work with. This show may get multiple seasons in the future. This show I believe already has a second season planned so I am pumped to watch more of it. The sound and art I would say are average but I am not telling you watch it because of those reasons. Watch it because of the story and how a boy survives and thrives in this dangerous magical fantasy world. Watch it because you love your new waifu Roxy. Watch it because you want to watch this dude experience love for the first time. HAHA. Anyways... Basically, Every episode makes me wonder what happens next. That is something that a show has not made me feel in a very long time. The show makes me want to watch more and more and more. I really enjoy this show because it is entertaining and awesome… yeah AWESOME! I am well aware that this show will not be for everyone and I totally respect that. As a fellow chill Weeb like myself I respect my fellow other weeb’s tastes. Is show is not perfect by any means. For example the time skips may feel abrupt for some and it may be hard to grasp some of the concepts in this show. This show is pretty fast paced. But, for those who are thinking about picking up Mushoku Tensei, please try a few episodes out. There is a reason why this show is getting a lot of attention this winter season and now that I finished all 11 episodes of the first season I can see why. I don’t rate my anime high, I only have one ranked 10 and a very select few ranked a 9. I am proud to say that Mushoku Tensei is a 9 in my books. This is a show I am thrilled and excited to watch the protagonist again in the upcoming 2nd season. I got so desperate I read the manga and ooooo boy this gets HOT!. But I will leave it here for you anime lovers. Please give this show a chance. For Roxy’s sake! For those who love Isekai, Fantasy, Romance, and a coming of age story; you will enjoy this new title. I was not expecting much out of this anime at first but after watching 11 weeks of a Roxy obsessed boy (if you watch it you will understand what I am talking about) I am a changed anime watching man. GO WATCH THIS AND GET YOUR ANIME TASTES REINCARNATED!! I'm getting too comfortable with this show. I need a break hahaha. Overall: 9/10

One out of ten. The main character killed people with a Death Gods book and that's bad. I didn't like him doing that, and me not liking the morality of a character effects a shows quality. According to my literature degree twitter gave me. What? Wrong anime? Sorry. That's definitely not related to certain other reviews. On another unrelated note, I'd like to say farewell to the strangely large amount of people who were introduced to anime through this series, made a MAL account just to give it a poor score and write a review, and then watched nothing else. I'm sure they were legit, if they weren't the user would be smart enough to change their privacy settings. Now to actually get to the review itself: It's a solid 8-9/10 isekai that's one of the granddaddies of the genre. Before they turned into the copypasted slop we get today. To sum it up: Imagine if the writer actually cared about his isekai story and put detail into the characters and world. And the studio that made this series was made FOR this series, and they did a great job with its adaptation. Looks and sounds stellar. As for the controversy surrounding it, ignore it. Loud minority making multiple accounts to get attention as usual. Only people who whine about it haven't been watching anime very long. I gave it a ten and made this review just to give them the middle finger to be honest.

Overall Rating: 9/10 I'm only writing this recommendation to counterbalance all the people yelling about the depictions of rape and paedophilia in this series. First of all, it is still a very well-animated show with a good story and good music. It's ending is kind of abrupt, which detracts from the enjoyment of the season, but you get to follow Rudeus grow up and learn magic. The show and novel spend a lot of time with him as he experiments and learns his skills, unlike other characters who just receive OP blessings the moment their feet touch the ground, so we feel some joy in Rudeus's achievements. Keep in mind that this is the first part of a very long LN. We're not even halfway through the childhood phase yet. And the LN follows the adventures of Rudeus all the way to his death as an old man. So his character interactions and character development here are basically exposition. The music is also memorable. This is definitely worth a watch, and you should at least give it a try before deciding if the tone of the show is something you cannot continue watching. Now, about the rape and paedophilia accusations, I personally think the argument has some substance. Anime needs to come to the 21st century and start depicting rape, misogyny, abuse etc. with more sensitivity. But I also think it is unfair to hold Rudeus to the standards of an adult man. He is a child. Nobody seems to expect him to court and marry a 40 year old woman as a 10 year old boy, so why is everyone incensed at him when he is with a girl his own age? And, more importantly, the story does not present Rudeus's perversion as a good thing. In the novel, the ONLY person to not think that Rudeus is a creepy child is his own mother. This is not someone to make a role model of, and the show makes the very clear. Rudeus is not some Gary Stu; he makes mistakes. Lots of them. The next season will show even more lapses in judgement on his part. Hopefully the next season will also do a better job of presenting his antics as the crass and vile behaviour it is.

A great episode to end this first cour on. Rudy, Eris and Ruijerd working together while on the road heading back to the Asura Kingdom. These first set of episodes for Mushoku Tensei have been fantastic. Not only at setting up the world but also all are major characters at this point in the story. Rudy of course being a great main character to follow. People have of course been very adverse to him because of his old ways but that's really just part of his charm and character growth to me. He's not a perfect person who's just gonna be reborn into this world and suddenly be the biggest badass around. Sure he's powerful and and has an innate talent for magic and fighting but he's still got a lot of progress to make. Which makes him interesting to watch seeing how he learns more about this world and how he just operate in it. Does he have his perverted moments? Yes he does but its not horrible imo. By the end of these episodes we can see him maturing anyways. In his old life Rudy was the epitome of a loner but now at the end of this episode we see he's learning to not shoulder all the responsibility himself and to finally trust others, I'd say that's a major step in the right direction. Rudy being a great lead is just the tip of the iceberg for this series too. We have tons of great characters to enjoy like Sylphy, Roxy, Eris, Ruijerd, Ghislaine and even Paul to a degree. All of them are very important with many having their own massive character arcs we'll see later. We've already seen how much Eris has changed in her few years with Rudy along with Ruijerd learning to not be so rigid, Sylphy opening up out of her shell and Paul after the displacement seeing the value in his family. These great characters on top of the immaculate production values this show has! My god does it looks so pretty! The action scenes are rich and vibrant motion while the backgrounds are gorgeous. The music fitting well with each scene. The series really has it all and immerses you into its world with these characters. There's so much more to see later on too. We've only just begun seeing how the displacement event has changed things and there's a lot of change that happened because of it. I cannot wait to see more episodes this summer when Mushoku Tensei returns! 93/100

SPOILER-FREE ANIME REVIEW Mushoku Tensei's been famous for its concept of being reincarnated to another world by the death from truck hence giving birth to truck-kun reincarnation. And Since Winter 2021 has way more Isekai aired this season it's been really popular even just after receiving it's anime debut. Here's a thing tho. This Anime's really not for everyone as many could literally tell from the viewers' perspective. Story: A Loser neet who's been addict on playing games such as dating sims and eroges died from a traffic accident and has been reincarnated to another world. The thing is he's been a new-born baby but his memories of his past life remained. Little did he knew that the world he's been reincarnated to has a lot going around with typical things found in fantasy world like monsters, mages, talking animals in human form, etc. Pretty unique from some other isekai animes out there Rating: 9 Art/Animation: I have nothing else to say about the Art and Animation. Studio Bind really puts up their best to this. It is really good for the entire show. The awesome lighting and the Good Brightness or Vibrance for Colors for scenes where it's needed. The parts where it's showing magic spells were really great. It blends throughout the surroundings and the details on it are outstanding. Rating: 9 Sound/Voice Acting: OST, SFX, OP/ED... all were nice and has almost no flaws to it. Background Music fits exactly where it has to be. Sound Effects are great from the casting magic spells, fight scenes and so on. The way they don't skip the anime opening or ending in some parts where the episode needed more time they just play the music while episode is currently going. Voice Acting are also great. Well they're professionals what could we expect aside from doing their tasks on characters seriously. But there isn't much soundtracks that for sure will be introduced later on the Part 2. Rating: 8 Now this where the complains from viewers go. But I won't give all of em introductions. Characters: The perv-neet from his past life and a newborn baby was named Rudeus Greyrat. Even still at a toddler stage, with his awareness of what's going on he's been always a Pervert no matter what. Well he's been born from a family who's keep on having sexual intercourse at night most of the time. Parent's personality fruit I guess. As he's still growing he managed to learn basic magic and instantly managed to cast an intermediate magic. His parents are glad that they have a child who have a potential with magecraft stuffs so they hire him a Magic Tutor, Roxy Migurdia. She spent her few years on Greyrat household to teach and hone Rudeus's magic skills. After being on the house means she'll eventually discover about the two parents of his student. We found out that she too is HORNY. (God why does almost every character in this show is perverted) Well we can't blame her tho. After hearing all the cries of Rudeus' mother and creaks from the bed she's a growing girl. Also, 15 is already a freakin' legal age on their world. As this show have way too many characters, In this particular First Part, all the characters weren't introduced that much. I can't really give this category higher than 8, Though I can tell that most of them are good as a character. Rating: 8 Enjoyment: I did enjoy this show this much even though it's just the First Part. Perverted things in a Fantasy genre wasn't really my thing. But here's a thing. Ecchi genre isn't really for everyone. One man's treasure is other's trash. You'll never find this show or any ecchi genre in particular enjoyable since you don't like it or basically, you hate obscenities in animated shows. We can't blame the author tho as the genre's been well mixed with Japanese Culture. It is great and I think Mushoku Tensei is capable of being Anime of The Year when it finally received it's Part 2. Rating: 9 Now about the controversial part on this Anime, Where as it literally shows really perverted monologues and or scenes that's just obscene for watchers especially young ones. Oh yeah a middle-aged ugly bastard loser being reincarnated as a child and having sexual fantasies over the girls in the series. As expected, Most of viewers would definitely find this disturbing. On a specific area around, The show literally got banned from their Broadcasting programs just all because of the perversion on the show, literally not a thing to screen on TV and watch with yo kids. The show is good but definitely not on the greatest ones and again most importantly, It's not for everyone Overall Rating: 9

The isekai genre has been a source of neverending torment for animanga fans for almost a decade now, with blatant, boring and offensive escapist garbage coming out in droves every single season. Few would defend this trend beyond a handful of exceptions that are deemed to be interesting enough to stand out from the crowd, ranging from comedies like Konosuba, Maou-sama or Hamefura, stories that use the setting to tell a legitimate story like Log Horizon or commentaries about escapism and finding self worth (though not a fan of the show) like Re:Zero. The isekai genre's history is long and complex, having roots in having been originally aimed at women (with stuff like Twelve Kingdoms and Inuyasha) before Sword Art Online's explosion in popularity gave birth to the current trend we see today of blatant pandering and unapologetic lazy writing that is devoid of any legitimate literary merit. Why create a fantasy setting when you can just copy and paste a basic RPG so your audience of teenagers who don't know better would just read it? Why give your main character any sort of personality worth analyzing when you can make him the blandest Gary Stu imaginable that is so perfect that women in the setting are begging for him to insert his chaste penis into them? Why bother writing a story with compelling characters when you can just list off a pack of tropes, implementing them in the blandest and most stereotypical way possible without a shred of originality? Mushoku Tensei is frequently attributed as the godfather of the isekai genre in its modern state. Now, I do not know if this is true, but regardless I can confirm that this series is nothing but a stain upon anime in general, and a painful reminder of just how far the anime community is willing to overlook flaws in series that otherwise have great production values. More than anything, it is rather telling that a genre infamous for low quality shows would traces its origins to something as instinctively repulsive as this pile of trash. There is precisely zero reason to care for any character in Mushoku Tensei, and the author of this work displays a hatred of things many would call common human decency to make the audience's reaction to the entire cast as hostile as humanly possible so long as you do not fall within the camp this show is clearly pandering to. Pedophilia. Grooming. Sexual harassment. Sexual assault. Voyeurism. Adultery. Kidnapping. Abuse. I had, have and always will be a supporter of tackling sensitive subjects in series irrespective of genre or demographic, but the extent to which this show decides to pander hard to the worst of the anime community and make its main character as repulsive as humanly possible is insane. Rudeus - a reincarnated, 34 year old man - is a pedophile and his values (which the show never genuinely questions as of right now in any meaningful way, who knows what happens in future seasons) make it impossible to like him or feel anything beyond disgust. Rudeus takes advantage of the fact he is in-setting a baby to constantly grope women, hide panties away and pray at them, listen in on his new parents having sex, watch his tutor masturbate to his parents having sex, monologue about grooming a child, allow a student of his to get kidnapped and roughened up to the point she has BROKEN TEETH AND IS COUGHING UP BLOOD ON THE FLOOR and the list goes on and on and on. Anyone who unironically sees likable traits in Rudeus should legitimately take a long, hard look at themselves and question where exactly they went wrong. Perhaps the worst scene in the series - and the scene that ironically communicates everything wrong with the series in a handful of minutes - is when an antagonist walks up to Rudeus and offers to tie up his student in order to impregnate her in exchange for joining him. Rudeus declines before walking off, then monologuing in regret how he wishes he accepted the offer so he would have had a harem of hot maids. OK, maybe it's a joke, whatever, some jokes are pretty out there...then he goes back to his room, finds his student in his room, sexually assaults said student and almost actually rapes her before he gets kicked out of the room. Are...are you seeing the problem with this shit? Why should I root for this guy? Why should ANYONE root for this guy? The side cast vary wildly in quality, but those who are clearly designed to be sympathetic similarly exhibit unlikable traits, varying from getting groped non-stop by Rudeus if they're a woman to almost definitely being some kind of cheating if they're a man. This goes on and on, and even characters who don't have unlikable traits worship Rudeus (even if it's not technically their fault considering none of them are away this is some 40 something dude in the body of a child), completely destroying any and all possibility to take any of them seriously. There are various things that I do think are worthy of merit in Mushoku Tensei. Rudeus has PTSD from a past where he was persecuted nonstop and bullied, and there's clear neatly written hints into that show leading to a neat climax where he finally leaves his home to visit the outside world. The production values - ranging from animation quality, character designs, backgrounds, soundtrack and sound design - are absolutely fantastic, and have me looking forward to Studio Bind's future works. Traces of a redemption story for not living life to the fullest do exist in this series, even if undermined by an awful main character for whom these attempts to evoke sympathy ring hollow for. Some side characters are occasionally likable and have alright ideas for character arcs - Roxy, Ruijerd and Sylphiette among them. I don't think what this show is trying to do is hard to make a great show out of, and great stuff has been made out of elements in this series, but what's instead here is a laughably broken pile of dirt, whose positive reception exhibits just how much anime fans are willing to forgive atrocious writing in favor of amazing production values. Stay far, far, far away from this, unless you hatewatch stuff like I do. Find some friends or something to start a drinking game over this or something, I don't know, maybe the show'd be tolerable to watch then. Now excuse me while I read The Faraway Paladin or something unironically good.

This review don't contain spoilers. This is my first review on Mal, sorry for my bad english. First of all for me Mushoku Tensei is one of the best isekai ever (if not the best) You will wonder why. At first it would not seem too different from other isekai but you will find that the level of storytelling and writing is higher than most of the isekai, it is something that manages to transport you even in the simplest things. Although the first 8 ep are a sort of introduction before the real plot/adventure does not mean that it is boring, on the contrary, nothing is left to chance: the construction of the world with its details and the same growth of the characters will gradually come out also in the course of these ep. Even on a technical level Mushoku is a very good anime, with beautiful designs, backgrounds, colors and with well defined outlines ... even the animations are of a high level, Studio Bind is serious about conveying what is a WN/LN very famous. Having said that Mushoku has already become one of my favorite anime, I loved everything about these first 11 ep, even the opening and ending. In my opinion it is an anime that everyone should see, even those who usually avoid Isekai.

I'm not a fan of long reviews so I'm going to keep this short and to the point. Don't get me wrong, being a paedophile is wrong. The author took made a character who is a huge pedo and allowed him to get away with his desires by being sent to a world where the morals aren't the same, where no one will really see it as something wrong, is bad. What makes it worse is that Rudo doesn't actually ever realise that it was wrong, and that he shouldn't have done the things he did. However, despite that, the show it self isn't bad at all. It's definitely not the best isekai anime out there, it doesn't have much to offer in terms of originality, yet, it does what most isekai's do and did it better. But Konosuba and No Game No Life are still by far much better. The story is the average isekai story, nothing special, however, it definitely is more enjoyable to watch than others, as I mentioned before. The art is very well done, along with good animations. It was pretty clean and well presented. The directing was well done, once again making the show fun to watch. The characters were the usual isekai type characters, in addition with the pedo inside a body of a child. The character designs were pretty well done, and a few were pretty memorable, others no so much (so nothing out the ordinary). Overall, well made show. If you can ignore the lack of moral decency in Rudo, and watch the show without thinking too deep about him, it's a pretty well done show, fun to watch. Story - 7 Art - 8 Sound - 8 Characters - 7 Enjoyment - 6 Overall - 6

I will keep this review short and simple. Too many people here have been bashing this show for hardly any good reason. Reason to watch the show are very simple . The 20 mins will fly by without you even realizing it, yes!! its that good. .The Op and Ed are perfect and sits well with the show's atmosphere. .The characters are unique and share various bonds with MC apart from haters melting it down only to lust. .The Action scenes are done with perfection. .Rudeus is always learning one way or another. Reason to not watch show .The only reason you will not watch this show is because you have read the popular or most liked negative review of this show on this site. Just Watch it!!! It's far better than Jujutsu Kaisen in terms of Enjoyment. I knew i shouldn't have crossed that line.

*This is a follow up of my preliminary review it contains minor spoilers but not spoilers actually affecting the plot* Mushoku Tensei is one of those anime which splits the community in half. Why is that so? Is it because it only appeals to a certain audience? Does it use a daring form of animation and or story telling? No none of that. The doge police certainly has a lot going on bonking Mushoku Tensei's characters into horny jail. For some people they have to bonk a little too much and in addition to that MC gets bonked for clearly repugnant reasons. I completely agree with everybody who thinks that the controversial actions Rudeus takes are out of place and wrong to say the very least. I'm no one to say that what Rudeus occasionally does is ok because... (insert dumb arguments here). But that alone does not make Mushoku Tensei a fetish fest for lolicons if you put it into the context of the show's idea as a whole. It's sad that the show is broken down by many people on this one fraction of Rudeus personality and the lewd allusions mostly in the first part of the series. Mushoku Tensei delivers so much more than just bonks to horny jail if you expand your horizon just a little bit. Even those "fan service" parts don't feel out of place or plain meaningless like they do in many other series. They are an integral part of the world and character building. Mushoku Tensei‘s purpose is not to give examples on how a perfect role model should look/behave like because many characters purposefully don't resemble that. It’s much rather focused on providing a view on how individuals are influenced by their environment and how they grow and evolve around and with it. By doing so Mushoku Tensei features characters to whom you don't have to look up, project yourself on or like on a superficial level. However, that does not turn them into bad characters. The theme of the show is to follow the main characters new life in a medieval fantasy world as Rudeus Greyrat being reincarnated from his past life. And this world features every element an interesting Isekai has to offer: An interesting timeline (medieval in our case), magic, a wide range of characters, different factions, a mysterious villain and so on and so forth. Besides that Mushoku Tensei features something modern Isekai lag: A reason why an Isekai is an Isekai. That reason being the possibility to build a new life for our protagonist with him becoming a better person. The story starts of facile but picks up its pace exponentially. This is just right for a (re)coming of age story that features life from infant to young adult. From arc to arc the plot contains more meaning, depth and world expansion. This world and its environment is shaped by their inhabitants inducing a great amount of immersion. Our main characters former life basically was a dumpster fire of rotting organic waste. He was excessively mobbed and traumatized in his childhood causing a huge problem: social seclusion. Having no friends or other reference/attachment figure he socially never matured leading to many bad traits and habits on different levels of his personality as an adult. To name some: mental instability, laziness, self-pity, lack of confidence, missing social skills and his unreasonable relationship to sex, yes including pedophilia. As he is transported into his new habitat even though he starts of being an infant all these traits aren't magically lost, in fact Rudeus remembers every part of his former life. This is the absolute greatness the show builds its entire existence on: How the main character overcomes those traits and habits to develop a new balanced and healthy personality as Rudeus Greyrat with strong and meaningful relationships as well as a sophisticated set of morals. We see him struggle on many occasions regarding different aspects of his former self, yet he is successfully willing to change. As Rudeus journey of growing up unfolds the viewer is presented examples of how Rudeus struggles or relapses on his old self however there are explicit scenes focusing on each progression he makes ultimatly overcoming his nemeses. Listing an example for every time this occurs is beyond the scope here. And yes the viewer is also presented with a clear development against the main characters not so legal cravings... The show elaborates on the huge contrast between what the future holds for an individual that grows up in a social environment with established role models around them versus a lonely and depressing environment. And this is something as present as ever in nowadays society which should not be blatantly viewed as just a kinky show to satisfy lolicons. Regarding animation and production this is Isekai on another level. The people behind the newly formed Studio Bind all have advanced experience in creating art and sound for this genre of anime. It is definitely acknowledgeable that the main focus of this studio is creating Mushoku Tensei. I can't really describe how, but every aspect of animation is crafted to perfect the world Mushoku Tensei creates. Watching it does not feel like watching a generic anime, it feels like walking through a gallery of renown artists, it's the presence of greatness. However, there are only a handful of scenes which are visually mind-boggling. Music and effects are where they should be. The music is solid but nothing to crazy or out of the box. It has some themes which are more outstanding and those themes are well made and put to use in their respective situation. Overall a wide range of what a well-equipped orchestra has to offer is used with your occasional coir input here and there. Looking at how much more input the baseline light novel offers and how obvious the ongoing of this series is regarding its producing studio this is going to be the next big Isekai. Mushoku Tensei is a definitive recommendation to everyone who already likes the genre as well as for people who tend to dislike Isekai because this show definitely makes up for a lot of the flaws the last gen of Isekai struggled with.

The high popularity of Mushoku Tensei shows that anime fans have no separation between what is presented to them and what they want to believe/what source readers are telling them. I bet in the future when Rudy is being a pedo to some 12 year old for the 100th time without any consequences, I'm sure the Mushoku Tensei fans will still be waiting for his "redemption" to be coming soon! I'm not sure what convoluted train of thought you are supposed to have to be thinking that some redemption is coming. If you look at any scene where Rudy does something gross, he never learns anything and nothing ever changes. Additionally, the overall tone and animation style of these scenes doesn't lead the viewer to believe that anything wrong is happening. We can actually compare scenes from within Jobless Reincarnation to see this. In episode 11 when someone dies, the anime actually gives off a tone of seriousness with the darker animation and character's facial expressions. However, in other scenes like where he gets down with Eris or when he keeps stealing Roxy's panties or whatever, the tone of these scenes is mostly still light and comedic. There is no indication that what Rudy is doing is wrong by the anime itself, but somehow the viewers are supposed to figure out that Rudy is very wrong while a very fanservicey scene featuring 12 year old Eris occurs. Additionally, if there is some sort of line about how he thinks of himself as "disgusting", it never even goes anywhere. I believe in this scene with Eris I mentioned he does call himself disgusting, but at the end of episode 11 we see him secretly watching Eris change for laughs, so I guess that didn't really go anywhere. Other than this scene with Eris, there are many other scenes where this same concept of something that could be considered "redeemable" basically played for laughs. It's pretty strange that his supposed love interest Sylphie is about 10 while our main character is more than 40. However, their relationship is portrayed as completely normal by the anime, with no implication by the anime that this is literal grooming. There are plenty more scenes like this, but hopefully I've made my point. I'm not sure how people can be be ok with scenes like this and call people who don't like this anime butthurt or sensitive. If not liking anime that glorifies grooming and pedophilia makes me a cringe SJW I'll take that L any day. It really shows how far gone the anime community is if not liking this is considered "controversial". Maybe without all these terrible scenes this could have been an average isekai story with above average animation. However, its clear from this first season that this is just another pandering isekai harem.

Welcome to another season of burning trash review, and let me explain why this show is trash and why you should not watch it. Some spoilers ahead. So, let me first start with something good: the visuals are simply great. Nice artistic style, nice animations, everything drawn in a nice way and the amount of small details is nothing short of stunning. I will definitely check what this studio does next. Sound is fine but it is not close to visuals in terms of quality, so I’d call it average. But after the good stuff we have to go into the darkest pit of this anime: actual world, characters and plot. So this story is advertised as a “redemption story” and we are given a NEET MC that is the lowest of the low and worst of them all, pure degenerate and trash of a human being. A rough start and a lot of to work with if you are going on a redemption. “Uh, about that, you know that MC was a huge pervert and degenerate? Actually he never felt bad about this so he will stay this way”. Excuse me, Mr Author, but what? Didn’t you just say he would try to become better? Oh wait, you actually meant he wants to be just like any other isekai protag, with harem and stuff and don’t change as a person? So now imagine that our MC starts from his own birth and right after that he has lewd thoughts. Yes, an infant without a working reproductive system is acting like a 30+ yo horny pervert that MC was before rebirth. And of course he is born into a somewhat rich loving family, with noble blood and with good affinity for magic. Of course, why did I even think he would struggle in this world. Basically he gets everything he needs to get OP but with a light “he worked to get OP” wrap on it. Yeah, a lot of work to win into the genetic lottery and don’t start as a peasants son. If you think that this world looks like one of those worlds for self insert cheap power fantasies - you, sir, are correct. Rudeus (MC) starts to act like a kid is not supposed to - and yet he never gets scolded, spanked or told he is wrong (only a few moments with minor stuff, but nothing about the major problems). The creepiest thing though is the fact that there are 2 voice actors for MC, his body voice (new, young boy) and his mind voice (old NEET). Now imagine that MC finally does something good and you think “oh, so he IS getting better” only for him to say something deeply sinister a moment later. For example, he saves a girl from bullies, you think “oh, nice, so he is protecting the weak and making friends”, but the next moment his 40yo voice says “I’ll mold her into my perfect woman”. Yeah, a dude that is 40 years old is grooming a child and we, the viewers, should be fine with it. And it is not even the only episode, there are lots of moments where if he was a kid - I would be ok with it, or if it was some cheap comedy - I would be ok with it too. But remember, this is a “serious redemption story” and all those things are not cheap gags, but they are what they look like - a creep exploiting people around him. Sorry, I can’t really cheer up for such an MC. “At least it is better with side characters?” you’d ask. Well, yes, they are not really THAT bad - but they are pretty basic if you ask me. While some of them get some character growth, it is comparable to the “growth” our MC gets - either it doesn’t feel earned, or it is so minimal you could discard it. And considering that most of the characters around MC are children, they are not really “developing” but rather “growing up”. Also cause of the same exact reason of MC being a child most of the first season is more of a slice-of-life isekai, where he not only does not have a villain to beat, but he does not really have a big goal to achieve. So for like 8 episodes of 11 the plot just isn’t there. The world itself, while done greatly in terms of visual details, lacks any significant details and looks like your generic fantasy stuff, no real risk taken while making it, and no big gains made. If we would replace Rudeus with a usual blank self-insert protag, we would get a stunningly beautiful, but dull and generic experience. But we got Rudeus, a main “hero” of the story who somehow manages to be worse than a blank space and ruin any enjoyment that could be had otherwise. Overall // tl/dr version: beautiful, but shallow story with horribly written main character who is supposed to be our “hero” but is a pain to follow. Would be watchable/mediocre at best if not the MC, but in its current state watch only if you like trash diving.

If you have read the novels and are wondering whether the anime adaptation does this justice, the answer is yes. There are some minor changes and the pacing is slightly faster than the novel, but if you enjoyed the novel, I think you will enjoy the anime. If you haven't read the novels and are wondering whether to watch, I'll just cover some of the things other people have brought up: Rudeus is deeply flawed. His experiences before reincarnation still have a great effect on his personality. I admit, it can be a bit off-putting, but it's supposed to be. The only thing that he wants to change about himself is not wasting his life. He can do that while remaining a pervert. All of the characters in Mushoku Tensei have shades of grey. It goes beyond being good or bad- sometimes good people do bad things or have bad traits. The characters have believable desires, virtues, and sins. This story contains sexual content. If that offends your sensibilities, don't watch it. As for the art and sound, it's all good. As I said above, the pacing is a bit fast compared to the novel but there will always be some changes when adapting from the page to the screen.

NO SPOILERS (I don't like long-ass reviews, written by people who act like they know it all, so this is just a short one, written with my personal opinion) Since the moment I've heard the LN is going to get an anime adaptation I was very excited. I was expecting the best-possible art, sound, cinematography and basically everything. But I must honestly say I was expecting too much and in the end was rather disappointed. Story: 7 The rich and detailed world of the LN/WN was almost completely obliterated. There was almost no world-building in the anime and everything felt really shallow and superficial. I can't even describe how dissapointed I was by this. There was innumerable amount of entire scenes, POVs, side stories and monologues skipped - most of which were supposed to deepen the world, make it feel real and genuinely make you care for everything that was going on. The story that was supposed to be about Six-Sided World and Rudeus, who was given a second chance to live a better life in another world, became solely the story of Rudeus. I'm sure it wouldn't be wrong to say the anime is an adaptation just of a half of the entire story. But as for Rudeus' life-journey, I won't spoil anything here. Even with a lot of scenes skipped and shortened it's still a really great one. Art: 9 I must admit the art and the animation were the best things in the entire anime. It was really amazing to see everything that was only described in the LN with my own two eyes. Some scenes were admittedly not as pretty and detailed as other ones, but I think the BD could correct this. The fight scenes were especially nicely animated. There are also almost no CG scenes (even the monsters are drawn by hand), so that's undoubtedly a great plus. There was honestly just one scene, that seemed really out-of-place, but probably something, the director will sadly leave like that even in BD. Sound: 8 I can think of a few scenes where the music wasn't quite fitting but other than that I've got no complains. Characters: 8 I'm not going to write here in too much details about this. The protagonist is a pervert, that's certain. But everything has it's reasons and despite that I still think, and going to claim, he's a greatly and mainly realistically written character who actually tries to change. The anime honestly doesn't capture this very well, but you can actually see in his monologues he really regrets many things. The anime absolutely didn't do Sylphie justice. Her character arc was almost completely deleted, and so there's really nothing I could say here about her. As saying anything more could be considered a spoiler, I will stop here. Enjoyment: 9 Despite all my bitching and comparing it to the LN, I really enjoyed this anime. But that just as a LN reader. If somebody is reading this review (I doubt it) and haven't read the LN, I can't really guarantee you will like it as much as I did. But if you do, I'm sure you will like the original work even more. Overall: 8 It could honestly be better. Much better. But it's by no means bad. The world feels rather shallow (at least compared to the LN), there are many details missing, but despite all that it still manages to capture - however incompletely - probably the most essential thing: The life of Rudeus Greyrat.

I was immediately turned off of this show in the first minute when a 30 year-old reincarnated baby tried to fondle his mother's boobs as soon as he's born. But after a few recommendations I gave it another shot and honestly, nobody gives this show enough credit. The art and animation is breathtaking, not to mention the astounding character building. I'm hooked and can't wait for season 2. STORY: 9 I'm giving this a 9 for the beginning of the story thus far. Though I think we haven't seen the start of the depth this story will go, the plot points throughout this first season are engaging and foreshadow for later events through lore and Rudeus' (protag) education. It's extremely interesting to discover more about this intriguing world through Rudy's perspective with him, and though this normally happens in every isekai, this anime somehow separates itself from the norm and keeps you actively interested in the world building. This is not your standard isekai, and it doesn't flaunt it; you just get to enjoy it. Anyway, as soon as I start to think one setting or plot point is getting a little bit dry it transitions seamlessly. I love the progression of the story thus far and I have faith that it'll only improve. ART: 10 Absolutely gorgeous. From episode one the brightness and life of the rural scenery takes your breath away, and as the story continues we witness the different settings in their varying beauty. Moreover, the character design is stunning. I adore seeing Rudy grow from an infant to a young teen and I'm so excited to see how he grows in the future. The love interests are all unique character and design-wise, which I'll get into later, but regardless, every single character is gorgeously drawn. And the animation! Basically, it's amazing. Trust me on that. Visually, this anime is on another level. SOUND: 8 Honestly, I never really pay that much attention to sound. But I do pay a lot of attention to intros, and this anime uses it's op in order to use the non-diegetic sound to further give the audience a deeper understanding of the environment rudy's currently in. This doesn't feel like a normal intro, it feels like world building with the setting-based music, and it's really creative. The bgm throughout the show, though I haven't heard anything that made me think about it outside of the scene, also enhances the experience depending on which situation Rudy's in. Overall, I have no complaints, it's just nice. CHARACTER: 10 Yeah. Wow. This is where most people complain, but I'm here to put these complaints to rest. Yes, Rudy is initially very creepy. He's scummy; he really is. He's a 30-something year-old man practically grooming these (mostly) underage girls and doesn't condemn his father for being a scumbag to women either. But that's just it. Rudy is born a degenerate virgin who didn't actually live his past life at all, and when he's given another chance he takes it vigorously. But that doesn't mean that he is immediately fixed. He begins from his all-time low, and it's unrealistic to expect a person to instantly become better just because they want to. Expectations of Rudy's sexual activity are put on him from an extremely young age and it never stops as he grows up: these guiding male figures in his life encourage the gross and degenerate way that he thought of women in his past life. And he must come into his own as he grows, to view women as more than eventually sex objects to groom. And minor spoilers: he starts to. He doesn't take advantage of these young girls when he has every opportunity to. In this way, we see Rudy's sexuality as the symbol of his growth from his rebirth. His perversion is his primary flaw and as we witness his improvement of the control over this flaw, we simultaneously witness his growth as a human being. He isn't perfect, but he doesn't need to be. Along with his perversion, Rudy's closely-tied social trauma is another significant aspect of his character that the creator does not skim over. As soon as we think he 'gets over' his initial trauma of leaving his house, we are reminded that trauma does not simply leave; it cannot be 'fixed'. Before he is further developed in the second half of the season, Rudy's perversion demonizes him whilst his trauma contrastingly humanizes him. I would go onto how his character develops once he leaves the comfort of his home, but just take my word for it that it gets a lot better. Now moving on from Rudy is the love-interest cast. They are unexpectedly great. I really did not think I would love each member of a harem as much as I do. They each bring out something different in Rudy and their characters are so much more than 'mentor', 'childhood friend' and 'tsundere'. I look greatly look forward to seeing their characterisation and relationships with Rudy develop further next season. As for the side characters, they weirdly don't feel like NPCs? Every time someone new is introduced you expect to simply forget about them and lose interest, but no. Honestly, I don't understand how the director managed to get me this attached to this many characters in ELEVEN EPISODES. This is the best aspect of the series without a doubt. ENJOYMENT: 10 What can I say? It is so well-paced and entertaining at every twist and turn. As soon as it starts to get dry, it just gets spicier. It keeps you guessing while leaving the perfect amount of foreshadowing to keep you in the loop. The dialogue is fun, the characters are so ~human~ and likeable, the dark scenes are tense and the bad times are bad. It's just so much fun. OVERALL: 10 This show can easily make me cry, scream and laugh in one episode and I'm so so so excited to continue this journey with these characters next season. Don't listen to people who focus on the ecchi aspect of this show; it adds depth to Rudy and honestly, very unexpectedly, does not ruin or taint the experience in any way whatsoever. Please please please bless yourself and watch this show.

Great show. Quality isekai that men of culture will appreciate. The characters are fun. If you enjoy good old isekai harem, then you will definitely like this anime. And its actually a pretty good anime too. Made this review off impulse seeing all these normies getting triggered by anime. If you dont like some ecchi and degenerate stuff go cry elsewhere. All this PC stuff will end up killing anime. Man the length requirement for reviews is way too long. Man the length requirement for reviews is way too long. Mushkou no tensei. a rather controversial topic here on mal but here i shall display my thoughts on this show. rn i have my english homework in front of me due tommorow but i feel this is more important. Story: Starts off where we see our mc being a degenerate neet and then getting hit by a truck and is then reincarnated into a baby. What really stands out to me was the incredible amount of detail that came into worldbuilding and not having our mc being op from birth. Our Mc learns magic from a loli mage with blue hair (Roxy) and learns more about the world he is in and watching him learn this stuff was very interesting to me. The guy finds a green haired girl and helps her and now wants to go to some magic academy with her. without context this sounds very generic but i found the flow of the story to flow very smoothly into this plotpoint and it gets better from there Mc teaches red haired tsundere and teaches her a few lessons and then get teleported to some place with monsters where they meet a superd (feared monster) who was trying to make his race's rep better and they go around trying to get home. the story was very balanced and paced well in my opinions and i have no complaints about the plot. Art and animation Stunning backgrounds and smooth fluid animation to acompany it making its animation on par with movie level animation. Character designs are great in my opinion and i have no problems with them. Sound Overall great sound design. Op and ed were great and fit the mood of the show very well. Osts were great and flowed well with the beautiful animation and art. Character Each character has their own reasons for being the way that they are. Also as we see many characters i shall only focus on the 2 with the most screentime. Rudeus. A perverted yet talented young boy who is very adaptive to his surroundings and he is perverted due to his insecurities in his previous life that molded him into the wat he is now. He still makes mistakes as the anime does it's best to show how he is not op and can still lose. He still has morals but from time to time is still perverted from time to time because no one is perfect. dont expect every mc to be good heartned kind and nice. Eris. Brought up as a spoiled brat but slowly starts to become more sympathetic over time. By forcing Eris through hardship she managed to become a better person. Enjoyment. I really enjoyed this show. Conclusion Well rounded isekai with no problems in my opinion.

Despite the controversies, mushoku tensei brings a new face to fantasy anime, more specifically the subgenre tensei, even having the premise of redemption with a new life, being able to start all over again, even with this generic idea the anime still stands out, it stands out exactly because of the execution the way the story is passed brings a sense of discovery and adventure, you just like Rudeus is discovering a whole new life in a new world, with much desire and effort to be able to feel alive again. The mixture of charisma, soundtrack, animation and curiosity, makes you dive into this journey, always wanting to know how it will end, and the journey definitely has a very sober sense of progression, without big jumps of personality, without many conveniences for character development, everything is done slowly, for you to realize how the characters become mature with time and with the adversities that the author puts to be overcome. Another mention I would like to make is the duality between his body and his mind, after watching the anime I think one of the beauties of the work is how the mind of a mature man who has gone through traumatizing and degrading experiences is portrayed as childish, making an allusion of how the character even alive from a physical point of view he is dead from the human point of view, thus his body as strange as it may seem is somewhat related to his mind. Well with respect to the more objective leaving the subjectivity, the animation and soundtrack are spectacular, pleasing to the eye and ear, the story even being introductory fun and holds the viewer, and the characters have many defects and many qualities like any human being, the author fails in the main when he puts as a complete pervert, but otherwise the work is relaxing and very promising. I well understand the anger of many, but I wanted to bring a less aggressive view and I hope I succeeded. In the end I recommend that you see it, if you are very bothered by this issue, I would just like to say that it is more present only in this arc, going forward it becomes less frequent, well that's it, see it and draw your own conclusions.

With Winter comes to a close, one shows stand out & kept my attention throughout it airing. The shows I'm talking about is, Mushoku Tensei. From the poster alone, you probably thinking, "meh, it your typical isekai with waifubait. borrringgg". The animation alone, will make you drool. In a nutshell: the plot is not that complicated, but, it mostly about the journey with our MC and his companions. The first few episodes already make me hooked into the story. Why yes, our MC personality is quite creepy, due to his age in his previous life. However, it doesn't make me gag and wanting to drop the shows at all. Side characters are easily 10/10. They are fun to watch when they interacted with the MC. Oh the flip side, the animation is absolutely gorgeous. This partly due to White Fox animator hopping on board. Fun fact, this is the studio first major project. They absolutely nail it. Can't wait for the 2nd half of this shows Verdict: I highly recommend it. On par with Re:Zero. Don't let the naysayer persuade you. Best girls ranking: 1)Roxy 2)Greyrat Zenith 3)Eris 4)Sylphiette
