Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II: Past & Future

This is a surprisingly good refresher if you, like me, were coming back to the show after a long hiatus. It's best to watch this first and then the movie before S2, since this recap does not mention the events of the film yet. Bell and Hestia provide some amusing dialogue while going over how far Bell has come as an adventurer. They show all the best fight sequences like the Minotaur and the titan-like monster. Jokes land well, Hestia gets jealous at romantic bits, all the usual stuff. Overall nothing new is added but it works for what it is and is worth a view.

Yet another completely unnecessary recap. Past & Future is exactly what it sounds like: a recap episode designed to revisit the events of the first season before the second season's premiere. Given the roughly four-year gap between the two seasons, it makes sense that the production team wanted to refresh the audience's memory. The idea is understandable, at least on paper. The problem is, that doesn't make the special interesting. For practically the entire runtime, we get a sequence of reused scenes from the first season, summarizing key events in Bell Cranel's journey, his growth as an adventurer, and the relationships he built along the way. There are no significant new scenes, new information, or any additions that expand the series' universe. It is simply a summary of what we have already seen. This is precisely the kind of special I dislike the most. I have always found recap episodes to be an uninspired way to fill the gap between seasons, and this one was no exception. If you recently finished the first season, watching this special is essentially just re-watching the same events condensed into a few minutes. And if it has been a long time since you watched the series, I honestly think it is more worthwhile to watch a summary on YouTube, or even re-watch a few key episodes, than to spend time on this compilation. What bothers me most is that, after a four-year wait, this was the first piece of content released to mark the anime's return. I was hoping for something celebratory—a new mini-story or at least a few scenes showing what happened during that interim. Instead, we got nothing but a summary of the previous season, which significantly dampened my excitement for the continuation. Technically, there isn't much to say. The animation is identical to that of the first season—after all, almost the entire episode reuses old footage. The soundtrack also consists of familiar tracks from the series, offering nothing new. Ultimately, *Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II: Past & Future* is only useful for those who have completely forgotten the events of the first season and want an official recap before continuing the story. Otherwise, it is a completely optional special that adds absolutely nothing to the anime. You can safely skip it; you won't miss any important information. Não há cenas inéditas relevantes, novas informações ou qualquer complemento que acrescente algo ao universo da obra. É apenas um resumo do que já vimos. Esse é justamente o tipo de especial que menos gosto. Sempre achei episódios de recap uma forma pouco inspirada de preencher espaço entre temporadas, e aqui não foi diferente. Se você terminou a primeira temporada recentemente, assistir a esse especial é praticamente rever os mesmos acontecimentos condensados em poucos minutos. E, se faz muito tempo que você viu a série, sinceramente acho mais proveitoso assistir a um resumo no YouTube ou até rever alguns episódios importantes do que gastar tempo com esse compilado. O que mais me incomoda é que, depois de quatro anos de espera, esse foi o primeiro conteúdo lançado para marcar o retorno do anime. Eu esperava algo comemorativo, uma pequena história inédita ou pelo menos algumas cenas mostrando o que aconteceu nesse intervalo. Em vez disso, recebemos apenas um resumo da temporada anterior, o que acabou diminuindo bastante minha empolgação para a continuação. Tecnicamente não há muito o que comentar. A animação é exatamente a mesma da primeira temporada, afinal quase todo o episódio reutiliza cenas antigas. A trilha sonora também é composta pelas músicas já conhecidas da série, sem apresentar nada de novo. No fim das contas, Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II: Past & Future só tem utilidade para quem realmente esqueceu completamente os acontecimentos da primeira temporada e quer um resumo oficial antes de continuar a história. Fora isso, é um especial totalmente opcional e que não acrescenta absolutamente nada ao anime. Pode pular sem medo. Você não perderá nenhuma informação importante. Nota: 4/10.
