I watched it to simp for Daisuke Kambe and I was NOT disappointed. The last episode was such a twist and I loved Daisuke's genuine happiness at the end of the episode. The end was so cute I hope we get a season 2 tho. Watch this anime if you are a SIMP for the cold but soft-hearted type of guys that are hot. Daisuke is hot. Also, Suzue is hot and I am a straight female so that's how hot she is. Also DaiHaru nation. Twitter: AnimeBubbless 10/10 all the way yea I'm a simp It keeps telling me I have to write a longer review so I'm copying and pasting mine again. It's somewhere in the 6 - 7 - 8 range. The premise of the show was actually pretty good-- a workaholic righteous cop who had been demoted from a better precinct has to suddenly get along with the mysterious billionaire who all of a sudden decided to join their very-trashy precinct. They're good foils to each other, but I have to agree with the other review that they don't quite grow together over the series. Episode 10 is probably the best "growth" you'll see, but it's not as impactful as I feel it could've been. There are some good concepts mixed with terrible concepts, all with seemingly mediocre executions. There's just something... lacking overall in the series. It's almost strange to call the filler episode the most enjoyable of the series. Fujoshi baiting aside, it was really neat to see characters outside of their element in a slice-of-life type of plot. This series really should've been more episodic slice-of-life rather than trying to fit this entire contrived plot because LET ME TELL YOU... the main story is actually trash. I was enjoying character moments despite thinking to myself, "oh my god this whole adollium thing is so stupid", so I'm pretty certain the story doesn't really give this series an edge like the directors expected it to. Maybe the series could've benefited from a longer runtime, like more than 11 episodes and fitting in proper arcs. Like X amount of episodes dedicated to one arc, Y to another, Z to the last arc, and the last arc would be focusing on Daisuke's past whereas the others could be... individual arcs just to give some proper development to the buddy-cop relationship. As I see it, the filler episodes don't really do them justice. The organization of this series just feels downright sloppy in the end looking back. It could've used a lot of refining. Like when you write a first draft and you cut down a lot of stuff in the end because you realized those things were unnecessary in the first place. That's a lot of this series. I wish some of the bullshit could've been cut down to explore more interesting ideas or dynamics. If a season 2 ever does get made, which I highly doubt, I really would like some growth for Katou. I love his character archetype, so maybe I'm biased, and I can definitely say he did change... A LITTLE. But for an entire series, it feels hollow considering we've been following this character for TWELVE EPISODES. Also, Suzue is useless. Fight me on this. Anyone who claims she is a "omg great female character" needs to get their head checked. She's not much more than eye candy with the lack of characterization she has, you know, other than her constantly whining over "Daisuke-sama!" Bruh, you guys really couldn't give her anything more to do, huh? :pensive: Art - 7. Nothing special here. It does its job for the most part. Sound - 8. Surprisingly alright! Character - 7. Great setups, not a lot of follow-through, other characters completely neglected (cough cough the MCPTF) Story - 5/6. The worst aspect :') Enjoyment - 9. It was fun to watch, though. Overall - 7

(Spanish review below). It's not a bad anime, but it's very boring. The idea behind it is interesting, but I don't think it was executed in the best way. The only episode I liked was the fourth, because it puts Kanbe in a different situation that he has to adapt to. Unfortunately, we go back to normal afterwards. Towards the middle of the series, it stops being episodic and there is only one conflict to face. I saw the resolution coming long before I knew that conflict would arise. The characters are okay. Clichés, without much to add. I honestly don't recommend wasting your time watching it. ...

Underrated Gem Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited is an entertaining Anime, the writing is really good and the story narration is on point, there are a lot of funny moments in this Anime which never fail to make you smile, then it immediately changes the mood into a more serious tone when it needs to. So the balance between comedy and seriousness is perfect. The art style is ok and it looks good, the music is also good (including OP & ED). Also the characters are likeable. If you're a fan of mystery genre like me, and want some comedy added to it, watch it, it's definitely worth it! not to mention there are lots of great combat and fighting scenes, so it's also a good action as well. It's an underrated gem don't sleep on it. Recommended.

When "I am Batman" becomes "I am super rich", you've made a mistake and are watching the anime "The Millionaire Detective: Balance Unlimited"! The policeman by passion Katou was demoted due to an incident, but he catches the eye of a super-rich man who just spontaneously felt like fighting crime! So while Kato tries to knock some common sense into him, his new partner Kambe investigates as he pleases and perhaps blows up a bridge or two, because after all he has an infinite amount of money in his account... I think you can tell from this brief description that the anime has its own charm, which is quite convincing. The chemistry between the two protagonists, but also many of the other, colorful and rather nonsensical characters, are fun - even if all the characters outside the protagonist duo play a rather small supporting role. The whole thing is further dampened by Katou, who I would hate as an independent character. He complains about the work of other policemen and impulsively puts his life and the lives of civilians in danger all the time. However, this gives Kambe a stage to shine, which makes Katou bearable. Unfortunately, the fun ends quickly. Although scenes in which Katou fights his trauma and Kambe is amazed at how badly normal people live were to be expected, the anime quickly overdoes it with serious scenes. Soon an overarching story develops in this seemingly episodic series, which really couldn't have interested me less. It very quickly became stale and was too serious for me - even though there were always serious moments beforehand, they still alternated with the rather silly and playful character dynamics. Not only do such moments almost completely disappear from the series, but the overarching "case" is really uninteresting because the villain was obvious from the beginning and at the same time some of his actions made no sense. All in all, I can't really understand why you have to turn a series with episodic stories into a coherent anime anyway. Do viewers not watch the first episodes because of the episodic stories and are then disappointed because they end? I would have at least liked more focus on everything outside of this rather mediocre crime story, also because some of the case's problems probably wouldn't have been as noticeable if it had only been a few episodes long. Still, I'd like to end by praising pretty much all the characters (except for the one antagonist), who were really well done and fun, but didn't get enough attention.

Fugou Keiji: Balance: Unlimited: this show is a wonderful one.Daisuke Kambe, a man with extraordinary wealth, is assigned to the headquarters for the prevention of modern crime as a detective. There, he has Haru Kato as his partner, a detective who appreciates justice and dislikes the way Daisuke looks at things in a completely opposite way to him. Haru's motto is "Money can't buy everything" but also "Money is not everything" and Daisuke's motto being simply "So how much?" / "So how much?" The story: The story begins with the reunion of Daisuke Kambe the only and only heir of the Kambe family with Haru Kato a detective with a very broad sense of justice being like a Hero for the people he helped throughout the series. And the two join forces to solve various mysteries. Art / Animation: I absolutely liked the art style of this anime having a pretty unique art style. Resembling various Batman animations or police series. The animation is excellent especially when HUESC is involved. Sound: The soundtrack is similar to various shows such as animated evenings with Batman and Jason Bond movies or other animated Batman movies and / or live-action. In the opening we have the song NAVIGATOR by SixTONES and the end (the ending) ) we have the song, Welcome My Friend by OKOMATO'S for those who want to listen to them. Daisuke Kambe is voiced by Yuusuke Oonuki, and in Haru's case maybe some of you recognized him and maybe some of you didn't recognize Yagami Light alias Kira from Death Note or Osamu Danzai from Bugou Stray Dogs being a vocal actor better known for his vocal performances as Miyano Mamoru. They both do a fantastic job and the voice fits the characters perfectly. Character: Haru is an idealist and knows how to enjoy life, being considered by the people he helped even a hero and "that rich idiot" alias the millionaire detective named Daisuke. Daisuke and Haru manage to have a pretty good chemistry in the odd misunderstandings between them and eventually reaching a compromise. And it would be similar in terms of the intermediate conflicts they have with the cat and the mouse or the dog and the cat (there are various fanarts with Haru having dog ears and tail and Daisuke with cat ears and tail) if you want you can But there is also some resemblance between Daisuke Kambe and Tony Stark alias Iron man and Bruce Wayne alias Batman because they have a very high financial power which is the multitude of money they have are also the heads of large companies (Company Kambe (Wayne Enterprises and Stark Industries) and ultimately benefit from various gadgets but there is also some resemblance between Haru Kato and Commissioner James Gordon and Steve Rogers aka Captain America with a very keen sense of justice. But despite all the circumstances and misunderstandings, Haru and Daisuke are / and eventually become friends but get along and eventually come to a compromise as is the case with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark or as in the case of Bruce. Wayne and Commissioner James Gordon. I would add something about Haru is like "an older brother" to Daisuke. In conclusion The Millionaire Detective - Balance: UNLIMITED / Fugou Keiji: Balance: Unlimited has an interesting story. But that doesn't stop me from giving this a chance for season 2 and I hope a season 2 will appear someday and they made me love the themed songs from (I honestly like the opening and ending). And if you're like the cop friend, go watch this anime! Although there are some rumors on social networks that there is a possibility that it would appear next year.

I’ve been planning on watching this for ages, but I kid you not,I binged this all in one day. (It’s only 11 episodes! also I watched this because Mamoru Miyano is one of the main voice actors and I love his voice so yh:P) The millionare detective Kambe Daisuke is partnered up with Haru Katou both detectives are opposite to each other yet compliment each other so well. One believes everything can be fixed with money, the other thinking thoroughly and investigating true intentions behind the case. At first the story was bit all over the place, I’m not going to lie I was a bit confused, some characters were not introduced very well which is a good/bad thing because yes it made it a lot more mysterious but also quite difficult to understand what was going on. Later on though, the story definitely starts to flow a lot better and the detective team seems more enjoyable to watch as their personalities and motives begin to reveal and shine through. Kambe (the millionaire detective) is a wealthy man who relies on an AI called HEUSC which helps him during his investigations (I can’t believe it’s an earring:o). Okay but I loved the part when he has nothing and has to rely on Haru for money, food and shelter, it was a great bonding moment. Anyways later on he slowly realises that some of his commands to the AI are forbidden and do not have authorisation leading him to believe that someone in his family is causing certain information to be restricted to him. This also leads the viewer into believing the obvious outcome too. However there are so many unexpected twist and turns near the end that just make it really entertaining. I also found Haru’s backstory quite interesting too, at first he worked for the first division (special unit of detectives and investigators) but due to accidentally shooting a hostage during a mission he suffers a form of ptsd. His ex partner from that division would appear quite often and would look down upon him. It is not until when Kambe, Haru’s new partner is able to understand his way of working and help him overcome this weakness. (this part was so cute not gonna lie). Anyways I really enjoyed this, definitely gave me iron man like vibes, and I don’t wanna say too much because I don’t wanna ruin it so please just give it a watch. I also love the op. I probably will rewatch it again and if there is more to come then I’ll be more than ready to watch it too, I just kinda wish I had not kept this on hold for so long.

/MAY CONTAIN SPOILER/ First half is spoiler-free. . . . In the anime "The Millionaire Detective – Balance: UNLIMITED" the "millionaire" detective is Kanbe Daisuke who actually a billionaire but also who also has an unlimited balance.Yup! Just like the contradictory title the show is about two characters with personalities that contradict/clash with each other. The juxtapositioning of the opposite personality brought out a contrast that was very prominent. The animation was not exceptional but it suited the tone of the anime. . . Now " if there are so many good things about this anime then why did I gave it such a shit rating?" you may ask. Well, let me tell you about that. . . . For me, a single aspect of a show can make it or break it. In this case, it did the latter half, unfortunately. There was a scene where Kanbe Suzue makes out with a drug dealer. It was left ambiguous. So it was up to the viewer to decide if anything happened or not. I personally do not like this kind of ambiguity. The way this show started I thought it was going to be an anime that discovers human nature. How it is not black or white. But filled with shades of gray(PUN INTENDED). I was expecting the two main characters who had this polar opposite personality which was the same as black being the polar opposite of white to show us that neither one was correct all the time because life is way more complicated than that. And the scene in the first episode when the two robbers hugged each other (it was at the end of the episode) gave me that kind of vibe. But no...I found nothing of that sort. The "detective work" was just Daisuke relying on his high-end gadgets and throwing money at people. It was a lot like Batman but really shit. I did not like either of the main characters because they represented the polar ends of the spectrum. I liked Nakamoto Chousuke. Because he felt like someone who is in the middle of a spectrum. Although the starting was decent somewhere along with the show I stopped enjoying it. And the ending was not satisfying at all. I dont like it when anime plays off the "revenge" part as something mild. The twist at the end caught me by surprise but I had rather not seen it turning out this way. . . . I can't say if I recommend or not recommend this show in one line cause I think it would be best if you decide it after reading the review .

I've never been so fucking pissed off to watch something whilst enjoying it at the same time. It was well-directed, the voice acting was great, the plot twists were obvious but played off well. But Daisuke learned nothing, and I want him to get beat up. I want him to be seriously injured just *once*. Just for a little bit of humility to stick with him. Just something to show that he's truly changing due to his partner's influence. No, I can't have that. I can't have anything. I feel like I watched Psycho-Pass 2 all over again, except this time I was just plain baffled rather than disappointed. Would recommend to anyone who likes cop dramas, and smug a-holes getting away with everything with next to no repercussions.

Keiji escaped: Balance: Unlimited is another series of detectives whose initial objective was to demonstrate the contrast between a detective who thinks he solves everything with money and another who is more "human". Such a proposal was strangely new and was made well throughout the series due to the high charisma of Daisuke and Haru. The duo can load the series extremely easily, but only 2 characters aren't able to do that. Unfortunately this anime was postponed due to covid after a few episodes after the release, which I believe affected the central part of the anime, leaving everything very fast and the final mystery with little screen time. It can be said that the biggest mistake of this anime was to have only 11 episodes, because the producers were not able to balance between the millionaire detective's comedy and the final suspense properly. The sound part of this anime is beautiful, both the opening and ending are easily the best of this year, there is also that Daisuke theme song that plays whenever he appears, managing to make you smile every time. About animation and design I don't have much to say except that the 2 are fantastic Resuming. Escaped Keiji is a fun work to watch, with charismatic characters and a plot that, despite being busy, still manages to be interesting. Grade: 8

I had my expectations way too high for this. I would like to point out first that the opening and ending sequence to this show is composed really well, and the visuals are good too. And the first two episodes hooked me on the show almost immediately. But that was all to the show. The 3rd episode broke the momentum and flow the first and second episodes created and the rest of the episodes carried on with the broken momentum and possibly, made it worse to the point of no return. Because of the horrible flow, I didn't even bat an eye when they introduced the plot and twists. Not worth my time honestly. (spoilers ahead) Despite the opening sequence being really good and me greatly enjoying the visuals, there was this one thing that really agitated me. In the visuals, they often show flashes of this female character holding a knife, suggesting her to be a killer because this show has mystery-detective themes. And this female character looks really similar to this one girl, Kambe Suzue, who is part of the protagonists family. I got really excited because it suggested that she is a serial killer despite being by the protagonists side. But no. Turns out they only did it for aesthetic. That was disappointing. 5.5/10

Saw an edit of this and decided to watch it on a whim. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. Just a typical detective show with a rich guy thrown in. The first episode-yeah, it’s a little cheesy. Our rich guy is very Bruce Wayne coded, so if you’re into that, you'll like it. The episodes that follow are good, decent cases with some character development thrown in. Nothing incredibly standout, but still enjoyable. But midway through is where the whole pace changes. Suddenly, it’s like you’ve been thrown into one of the best crime thrillers. The twists, reveals, storytelling through backstories makes this a cinematic watch. Set out a few hours to watch this, because having to leave off in the middle of the climax to return to later would be akin to torture. I’m one to get confused at lengthy inner monologues or overcomplicated plans, but this series had none of that at all. It’s a really great mystery, imo. Coming from someone who’s watched and read a lot of crime, I wasn’t anticipating half of the plot. I was shocked multiple times while watching and wasn’t able to solve it myself. Despite being 11 episodes long, all the variables and events are well constructed/connected and the ending didn’t feel rushed, which I was afraid of. A great case coupled with some interesting characters, the classic worn-down hero, and the emotionless rich guy (who no one knows why he's even here) make for a really entertaining watch. I’d definitely recommend giving this a chance and binging it if you’re into action, thrillers, or mystery. The character development was good too, and realistic within the realm of its short canon timeframe. Overall, I rate this a 9. It really surprised me, and I wouldn’t be opposed to a rewatch.

What if Bruce Wayne decided to become a Japanese detective in a buddy cop drama? Would he buy entire buildings before blowing them up? How about dissolving a hostage situation w/ an all male idol LIVE so the hostages over take their captor? Do you like Scooby Doo endings? If any of this sounds entertaining you might enjoy Balance Unlimited: Millionaire Detective. And as if that were not enough theres a mid-season development where we find out Bruce Wayne's/MCs real motive for becoming a Japanese gumshoe is to find out who killed his mother!! ( my guess is in an alley during Christmas with a gun. ) Other plots are involved but you'll have to watch. Show is fun, but not too heavy. Similar vibes to Kubuchiko Sherlock, Tiger & Bunny, Baccano, The Great Pretender, Durarara! Buddy Daddies

Intro Fugou Keiji Balance: UNLIMITED (The Millionaire Detective - Balance: UNLIMITED) gave all kinds of anime fans something to cheer for. Recognizable fun tropes of money and power, murder mysteries, and opposites attract made for a fun series for all genders to appreciate. It’s funny, mysterious, and shows some pretty incredible situations with the power of money. While it does a lot to draw in interest, Millionaire Detective doesn’t quite live up to its potential in some ways. Let’s examine what it does right and what it does wrong. Setting In the Modern Crime Prevention Headquarters in Tokyo is a place for the demoted or unambitious. Mostly a group of detectives that are content with security duty, Haru sticks out as a guy always wanting to go above and beyond the call of duty yet being unable to take orders that would kill a suspect. When ambitious and irreverent Daisuke comes into the mix, he seems to just play at being a detective in modern Tokyo, taking advantage of his immense wealth and information network that makes everyone else’s actions look like child’s play. Corrupt politicians, high-speed car chases, and terrorism threaten the generally relaxed attitude of our humble crime-fighters. In a setting that could be our world with themes of abuse of power and information, it’s easy to connect with the characters suffering from an unjust system and trying to fight for some semblance of justice in a modern world. While the setting is very obviously in Japan, it being in such a big city with similar problems experienced by those around the world helps us understand the subject matter even more despite none of us having immeasurable wealth. There’s enough familiarity to ground us amid Daisuke’s mind-blowing spending and technology utilization that helps convey how ridiculous his actions and powers are. Characters Haru and Daisuke are very much strong characters that don’t so much learn from each other as use each other’s natural tendencies. Only twice in the show do they seem to support each other and receive that support in a vulnerable moment as Haru’s infrequent attempts are often met with disinterest or physical repercussions. They are good, multi-faceted characters even though much of Daisuke’s nature is repressed in order to achieve his ultimate goal. Haru blends loose-cannon cop with being unable to kill, instead constantly putting himself at risk to save bad guys against his superior’s orders. One disappointment with the characters is Suzue who is the ambiguous relative of Daisuke who she would do anything for. In the first episode, she seems very smart, great with gadgets, and has incredible backup. Instead of being a proper team member to Daisuke, she’s regulated to weeping for his safety much to Daisuke’s annoyance and being hurt while trying to protect him which Daisuke never seems to acknowledge. Instead of a woman utilizing her skills to achieve a common goal, she seems to just be another tool to Daisuke for most of the series which amounts to wasted potential. Plot Two cops with very different ideas about how police work should be done is an old trope but a fun one. One of them being super-rich and the other having a hero complex is a new one though. At the start of the series, the one-off stories are fun and highlight the differences between our main guys. In the latter half, things take on a darker tone akin to cop dramas and start to move away from regular crime-fighting to the evil overlord realm. Despite the show constantly proving nothing is impossible, it still manages to surprise you at the end even when you think you know where it’s going. A few actions and motivations do seem baseless or uninteresting until the near end of the series which makes for an exciting ending but can also take away from the plot at the time of watching. Final Thoughts Millionaire Detective is an exciting ride despite clear room for improvement. Just seeing how cleverly money is used makes it a fun anime. It’s not about having the best toys or fastest cars, but about using money in ways that tears down societal or physical barriers. While there’s a lack of growth in Haru and Daisuke’s relationship, it’s hinted to be greatly improved in the last scene with both Haru’s intense drive to help people and Daisuke’s desire to flaunt his money well intact. Let us know what you thought about it in the comments!

wahh this is an anime I come back time and time again because I always find something new that adds to the story TT (talk about fine details lol) I watched this back when the anime was starting to come back from its hiatus in summer 2020, and since the first episode, I was hooked. I think what really stood out to me was that Haru wasn't a so-called side character to Daisuke. In other words, he was his own person, and that was really refreshing to see. I grew to love them because of how they worked separately and as a duo. Some of the downsides of this anime. The mystery behind the Kambes really doesn't kick in until episode 5, which is kind of eh considering it's only an 11 episode anime. Tbh, I found the ending to be kind of rushed, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. There's also the problem with the side characters not being explored enough. I didn't really care that much for anyone apart from the main duo, but I would have loved to see more of them (wink wink season 2?!) Overall, I get why some people may not enjoy this show as much as I did. I say it's only 11 episodes, so giving it a shot won't be a total waste of time if you end up hating it ;p p.s at least you'll get a killer soundtrack. Like seriously. If you're to take anything from this, just know that your ears will be blessed throughout the anime.

It may be one of the best short anime. Although it seems like the story of a spoiled detective throwing money around at first but the subject becomes much different as the episodes progress.First of all, if I have to talk about the characters, I couldn't connect completely except for a few characters. But that's not too much of a problem.at least for me.In fact, I can say that it is an anime that contains many genres. It made me feel more like a detective genre. But there was also a lot of mystery. There is a word we use in Turkey,"kısa ve öz".its meaning similar to "short and sweet".this is an anime that fits that description.

I loved this anime !! It has it flaws and it can feel a bit fast paced towards the end (I definitely would have given it more episodes) but I still enjoyed it a lot I love how it gradually got darker and the chemestry the main characters had was great If you like old mystery novels like Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle ones and if you'll like this Also if you're looking for something that is both intriging and easy to watch I think you might enjoy it too Sometimes we are not in the mood to watch something hard wrenching, this has the perfect combination of action, lightheartness and comedy

But is this anime a banger or what. Like seriously, many anime show you the definition of being broke, but this one flips it around and shows you being filthy rich is not so bad and happiness can still be found in money. The art and the clean animations, the character development of Kambe, and the absolute banger of an OP/ED. What more could you ask for. Furthermore the changing opening every few episodes was really pleasant and interesting as the final opening gave away massive spoilers from the first one(which was a complete mystery) The voice acting was well expressed from the down to earth voice acting of Haru and the cheeky, regal VA from Daisuke gave them life as a awesome duo in this masterpiece. Few things to note tho, the lack of episodes and the rush in the end was not what we needed, would have been perfect if it were 24 episodes long.

I hate long reviews. A cool story about modern crime investigation branch of police. MC is your average Joe detective with chuunibyou syndrome (imagines him-self as the world's hero) who gets paired with a cool guy Daisuke, who has real life superpowers - inherited wealth. Series offers both episodic arcs and serialized, more focused on the latter. Art is simple and eye pleasing, akin to ACCA or Jormungand. A lot of bright colors, soft outlines more on the simplistic side. Story is not confusing, simple Bondesque adventure with slight exploration of trauma experienced by either of MCs. tl;dr nothing memorable, nothing bad. Stable 7/10 anime.

A rich kid that throws money at problems to make them go away paired up with a young cop who takes his job very seriously, almost to the point of being overbearing? Even as a comedy, that premise could've led to fun scenario and nice growth for both of these characters and their incredibly different lives, even more so when you combine that with family drama and criminal procedures. But sadly, the effort spent on this show was not distributed evenly at all. To start; what makes a good buddy-story of two incredibly different characters being forced to work together towards a common goal? I hope y'all paid attention in chemistry class - but jokes aside, there needs to be a balance. In order for characters like this to bounce off of each other and bring life into the show and their surroundings, there has to be giving and taking. Both characters need to bring a thing or two to the relationship for the other to take away from it - an equal exchange of sorts. Sadly, the relationship between these two cops is hardly satisfying. Inherent inequality of characters in terms of status for example can be used for a variety of creative jokes, but in this one case, it's always one and the same. The rich kid is an antisocial jerk all the way through with not even a hint of development or change, and the cop has a bit of an arc later on that feels very shoehorned-in - and even then, still leaves him pretty much unchanged by the end. The "joke" is always the same as well; Rich kid abuses the cop or is just a jerk in general towards him one way or another, and the cop can't do anything about it. It gets boring really fast. And don't get me started on the side characters. The majority of the side cast is made up of the main duo's coworkers - each and everyone of which is one-note and could be easily described in one sentence or less. Foodie. Butt Monkey. Old Cop. Soft Chief. They each have basically one trait and all of their jokes center around that trait. Sure, one of them actually contributes to the plot later on, but even then, everything about him is predictable and cliché and you have a vast pool of movies and series to choose from that did this very thing better. The other half of the side cast is made up of the rich kid's family. And the same applies; a sister with a big brother compley usually played for laughs, but it honestly gets downright creepy, and then there's the grandma and a butler. There might be a little more to them than what meets the eye initially, but again; I've seen it done elsewhere and done better. Does this show at least entertain on the basis of being a mix of compatible genres? Well, the first episode would have you believe so, yes. It's kind of absurd how used the rich kid is to solving his problems just by having money. It's absurd just how little regard he has for other people. It could have worked as a comedy that dares to go completely over the top with the concept. But instead, after a couple of actually entertaining one-off-episodes that at least hint that the rich kid has a bit of a heart or is a normal person after all, everything after that just drives into drama like a mud pile in the middle of the road. It's slow. It's boring. It's predictable and lame. The main mystery that is set up by the middle of the show has one of the most boring solution I've seen in quite a while. Nobody changes and nothing gets better. Rich kid's little human moments from the prior episodes disappear completely. Sometimes he will know how to deal with a bomb filled with poisonous gas and other times he will stare at all those weird commoner things. It becomes hard to watch the cop try and put effort into understanding him and making things work, only to be the only one to do so or to even care. They look like they've been forced into a group project in middle school, not like adults trying to pull themselves together. It's not funny and it's not entertaining, it's just mildly annoying at best. The only thing that kind of works is the production. The show has sleek, elegant character designs and the action is fun. One or two gags land, especially in the earlier episodes. But as soon as the plot kicks in, it drags everything down. And with a genre like this, that is common thorughout all kinds of media all over the world, you have plenty of better options. Trust me.
