I don't know if it's just me but.. I honestly expected much more from this show. Like Haru and Daisuke are two characters that don't get along and those kinds of characters can play off well with each other. But there just wasn't enough of that?? After like 5 episodes maybe, that's when they start like an actual story with Daisuke and some case in the past.. and I wasn't really invested in it?? Daisuke being able to get the easy way out was one of the things that made it good, but the whole ending didn't interest me. Even when we get to the end the main duo don't seem to have that much of a connection, like yeah they kind of like each other but it didn't feel like much of an improvement? But hey the intro and outro are pretty good, so I'll give it that. Overall it's a 6/10 for me, I wanted more of the main duo to play off each other maybe solve a case here and there and continue (like it's own formula) but when they use a case to move the story forward.. it kinda drags? So, yeah.

Why does this anime feels like my relationships ? So many flaws but I am so so in love with it! hehe STORY (7/10) The story was so great for the first 4 episodes. but then it started to draft into a different angle getting all serious. CHARACTERS/ART (9/10) I love the characters so much and the bromance between Daisuke and Kato is immaculate. Two opposite personalities and I wished to see more interactions between them. I only didn't get to see the development of the characters. I imagined something like Daisuke spending less money and having more faith in Kato or feeling more comfortable asking for help. We got to see this briefly in the last episode but it didn't feel complete. Also, Kato believing more n himself and developing confidence in his skills. SOUND (10/10) Choosing Onuki Yusuke as the voice actor for Daisuke Kanbe is the best thing they did so far. knowing it is his debut anime as a voice actor I want to see more of his work in the future. Mamoru Miyano never fails to give any character a unique flavor. No wonder he is my favorite seiyuu. Daisuke Theme makes me feel so rich and expensive. The opening and the ending are so on point, I can't get enough listening to them. Enjoyment (10/10) I still think that the story is not that good but I enjoyed this anime to the extent I felt empty after this last scene despite the missing parts in the anime as whole.

This anime has many potentials but unfortunately, it wasted it. - The two main characters' adventure could be much more interesting since they have opposition in their way of thinking and how to approach the problems. However, this opposition has not been fully exploited. Haru has a bit of character development towards the end of the series, but almost nothing has changed in Kambe. - Some of the supporting characters have good backstories, but due to the film's short length (only 11 episodes), they are also not fully developed. This leads to their sacrifices not making an emotional impact on the audience. The cases do not reach the level of tension required for the mystery, detective genre anime. Everything is handled quite gently, easily, and lacks logic in some scenes. As a fan of the mystery, detective genre, this is what makes me disappoints the most about this series.

A detective with infinite money. To solve cases, he takes the fastest and most efficient route. Casualties are no problem. He'll just order his AI butler to pay back double the charges for building damages. This show felt nice and quick. I chose to stream this short anime with some friends. To no surprise, we started watching it for Kambe Daisuke. Known in the anime community for his fine appearance and deep voice, Daisuke is a very popular character. AND he's rich. I can see why fangirls go crazy over him, even as someone who does not care about men. The story itself isn't too complicated. It starts off by introducing the characters and begins to branch into Daisuke's story. The animation for this show was very nice. I noticed that the color palette for the side characters around Kato was very light, which seemed fitting for their happy-go-lucky vibe. As for the music, the most memorable soundtrack was the theme that played in Kambe Daisuke's iconic appearances. The characters were fun. Kato, your average justice-obsessed detective, deals with his PTSD from a prior shooting case throughout the show. During this, Daisuke joins the agency and is nonchalant with his mannerisms. The first moment Kato sees Daisuke, Daisuke is ramming his vehicle into other cars to clear his way through the traffic on the street. Kato stares in disbelief. This is their basic dynamic throughout the show. A guy with a hero complex and a billionaire who only cares about his own goals. Balance: Unlimited was an enjoyable show overall. I'd recommend it if you have nothing else to watch. It's worth it just for Daisuke too. Moreover, Kambe Suzue is a hottie.

I'm just being generous with my review really, the story and concept were kinda interesting, the foreshadowing was kinda good but the only thing I didn't like about the show is the fact they left as with a few plot holes or the fact they could have had different strategies to do this and that, but unless there was a second season that had a reason for this maybe I'll change my mind, the character design was really good and the plot was still interesting despite the inconsistencies. I just really hope a second season will come out soon so they could finally answer my questions and not just leave us there with that unexpected ending.

I love this anime. It's amazing. The chemistry between Haru and Daisuke is sweet and hilarious at the same time. Daisuke being attractive and rich but cold, uses his wealth to solve all the cases. On the other hand, Haru a normal civil servant who is idealistic and focuses on justice is paired together to unravel mysterious. They trust each other. There is action, mystery, comedy. The OP is god damn amazing! The other characters are also good. Like Haru 's friends they are funny as well as supportive. Ep 4 was my favorite. In which Daisuke and Haru spends the day searching for a child's dog. It revealed the soft and caring side of Daisuke for the child. And also how Daisuke went from "how much ?" to "Lend me some money " was super funny😂.and cute. I wanna see more development in Daisuke and Haru relation as well as their rivalry moments. I look forward to Season 2 of this anime. ❤

If I were to pick a quote from this anime it would be this guy saying how much. Bloody rich kids amirite TL;DR- Haru Katou is a police officer assigned to the modern crime prevention HQ, a place where the metro police department sends officers whose careers are sent to die. On a standard mission, there is a bombing threat and a new officer by the name of daisuke kambe arrives on scene, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. He ends up crashing the car he is in, so decided to buy a car for nearly double its market value at 500 million yen to give chase to this bomb threat. Haru hates how daisuke resorts to using money to solve crimes but the two partner up and solve crimes. How will this ragtag duo find common ground to solve crimes? Similar- great pretender- main duo with stark contrast in personalities, comedy id invade separate seemingly unrelated cases have a link that brings them all together Art- Incredibly simplistic yet captivating, western style animation, less quality then lets say demon slayer but is done incredibly well that gives an enjoyable experience. Smooth transitions between scenes and cgi is tastefully used. Music- Soundtrack is reminiscent of other comedy cop shows like b 9 9 or even the rich vibe of james bond. Uses a lot of jazzy brass instruments that just oozes swagger- maybe to represent daisuke as the tunes are also incredibly clean. The ending sounded more weathered to probably represent haru if the op was to represent daisuke. The animation in both op and ed also reflected this. VA- Surprisingly quite good, especially when you consider the fact that daisuke va is new to the scene. Conversations flowed well, each character had their own cues with their respective accents Themes Money plays a central part in this anime as it's used as a way for daisuke to pay his way into solving things and essentially to have fun. Money also plays an integral part in our society since approximately 600 BC where the now turkish used coins and the first example of paper money being used was way back in china in 770bc. The funny thing about money is that today money has extremely little value- its an arbitrary promise that we trust to have value. Essentially, we the users of money place the importance on a worthless piece of paper- but thats the beauty of it all. Money allows us to trade goods and services extremely efficiently as it is easy to communicate the price of goods and services through it. Before money was made, you’d have to barter for whatever you wanted. Say I had a farm which only produced carrots and you had a farm which only produced chicken. We would both have to negotiate a fair trade in what we believed which would take a lot of time as we go back and forth placing value on our goods. The problem with bartering is that I have to need what you are giving and you need to need what I am giving. Say I’m a vegan, now I don't want your chickens so you cant have carrots because of that. Seemingly stupid but that’s the point. Money nowadays has 4 main objectives., the first being a medium of exchange. Like I mentioned earlier, we need to trust that money has a value and this we use it and many people need to trus this as well, not just you and I. This cuts out the need for bartering as we both would desire money so we can buy other goods that we want. Money needs to be a great store of value. This is the idea that the things we want to sell usually lose value over time, especially perishable goods like food items. Back to my carrot example, say you wanted lamb from a farmer who wanted carrots. You trade your chickens for my carrots, but by the time you get to the lamb seller, the carrots have rotted and the lamb farmer no longer wants those carrots. Money cuts this out as it is usually durable and holds its value well over time- except when inflation happens which is a story for another time cough zimbabwe cough. Money also functions as a unit of account. It establishes an easy to understand hierarchy for goods and services where usually the more expensive something is the higher the quality you would expect. The last major function of money is that it is a standard of deferred payment. Debts can easily be expressed and understood in an easy and acceptable way for the debtor and lender. There are also a few key characteristics that money has today- durability, portability, divisible (has smaller and bigger deNOTations), hard to counterfeit, generally accepted and valuable, with the characteristics that I didn't go into detail being very self explanatory. Nowadays, with the emergence of the crazy thing called crypto currency, money is further tied into society than ever before, with the allure of being a decentralised currency that the government has little to no effect on. Despite changing a lot over time, money has a real and permanent effect on our day to day lives and lets us get the things we want, when we want it, providing we have the mullah for it. The story wasnt bad by any means but had not much that was noteworthy. I particularly enjoyed how it set the duos dynamic in the first few episodes then did some better storytelling near the end. The show had a good amount of twists as expected out of a detective show and shows incredibly abstract and downright idiotic ways that we can spend money to get what we desire. The entire anime was literally just a wacky ride that I was strapped on but I’m not complaining as it was thoroughly enjoyable. The comedy is funny enough to laugh at but is not overpowering the main story itself which was enjoyable, the character design was crisp and clean and the bombastic action sequences did not disappoint. 10/10 would recommend. All in all, was a great lesson in the brilliance of money and how money is a powerful tool for us to use. One of the quotes summarised it beautifully, either money works for you or you work for money. Take a moment to let that sink in and think about which one is more suited to you. Also I’d recommend looking into investing into cryptocurrencies as they are the future, but do your own due diligence.

I'm ngl, I definitely had high hopes for this one. It's unfortunate bc if the series had been 24eps instead we could've seen better development for the main story arc and got to know the 2 MCs a little better. The character dynamic is probably the highlight of this series- 2 investigators, one being insanely rich (and hot ;__;) and the other being humble with a dream to be a genuine help to others, both with unresolved trauma- This had sooo much potential and they just blew it with only dedicating 3 eps to the main story arc, cramming most character development then and there. It's all too rushed and honestly I'm sure everyone would've wanted to see more side stories where they butt heads and solve clever crimes. I wanted some wholesome side stories TT Other than that, it's definitely enjoyable when you don't put too much weight on it and its cathartic to watch someone spend that much money LOL Also I'm a little relieved they didn't push the incest concept too much... Thank god.

One of the animes I actually watched this season. The whole plot is anime Batman i guess, but with more plot twist! To be honest, the plot isn't all that good. It tells the story of a millionaire detective and a fallen from grace detective. There are some plot twists here and there but the major highlight for me were the character developments. The art is consistent for most of the series and has no weird part or lazy animations. Navigator is amazing. I'd hear it 100 times a day. Doesn't sound like an anisong but just fits this series. Characters are sub-par, Daisuke is indeed swag. Haru is a decent character but could've been more developed. All in all, I really enjoyed this series.

“All that glitter is not gold“ The Millionaire Detective Balance: UNLIMITED was probably one of the most hyped shows when it first came out due to the very extra, hot, and incredibly rich Daisuke Kambe. Funny story, one day I was browsing through Twitter and that was the first time I came across that screenshot of him having a Lion King moment, and I was like “who is this fine looking 2D man???” Honestly speaking, he was the reason I watched the show initially. That and the fact that I am a sucker for shows with detective, mystery, and action in the genre, so top it off with an OPMC like Daisuke Kambe and his partner Haru Kato, I was sold. There are so many things to love about this show. The aesthetic and character designs were unique in their own way. The BGM in each episode made the scenes fell a lot more intense and half the time I found myself holding my breath and being like “oh shit!!! oh shit!!! oh shit!!! what’s going to happen now?!” And don’t even get me started on the OP and ED theme, both fit the show’s aesthetic so well it’s almost criminal. And of course, there’s the pairing of Haru and Daisuke. An ordinary detective with a strong sense of justice just trying to get his job done right. and a millionaire detective who uses whatever his money can buy to solve crimes. In Haru’s own words “slapping people with wads of money”. This was what got me hooked, because I found it to be thoroughly interesting and entertaining to see how Haru and Daisuke’s relationship would turn out. The show has a solid plot line, which sadly wasn’t uncovered until 6 episodes in. I didn’t have many issues with the show. Just one. The pacing. The first 4 episodes were all cute and fluffy, especially episode 4 and I won’t lie that was one of my favorite episodes because Daisuke with his hair down is life. I was eagerly waiting every week to see if there was going to be an actual plot line, which i figured there would be from the first episode. So, knowing that the series would only from 11 episodes, I thought “so when are we gonna get to the real stuff???” Until episode 6 came in and things just got real dark, real quick. Given that the main story line didn’t kick in until that certain episode, it just felt like everything from that point on was little bit to rushed. The finale was both shocking and beautiful, I literally dropped my jaw while watching it. (Shameless plug, please check out my YouTube channel and consider subscribing if it fancies you. Thanks.) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVKH2ngJR4wr4Lw057LZI3A?view_as=subscriber When the ending theme in the last episode started playing, I thought “wait? that was it? surely that can’t be it? right?” I feel like because of the pacing, the main story line ran out before they could consume the run time which is around 23-24 minutes per episode which is why they added that additional scene in the end, which don’t get me wrong was great, but it seemed like a filler to me. The show had so much potential with everything it tried to be but 11 episodes surely wasn’t enough to cover it. I was also hoping that we would get a clear explanation as to what Daisuke and Suzue’s relationship is at some point. Like, what degree of relatives are they? Surely they’re not siblings because she never showed up in any of Daisuke’s backstories. So what point in his life did she come in? And that scene in episode 8 still confuses me to this day. The show also has a list of likable and fun characters, but they weren’t given that much screen time until later into the series leading to very little exposure. It was fun watching the guys from the 3rd division showing off their skills, and Saeki and her snacks…I find her to be the cutest little bean in the show. AND CAN WE ALSO TALK ABOUT HOSHINO?! He is so precious, honestly this guy deserves a little bit more love. Overall, I’m still satisfied with how the show turned out. I’m actually fine with how they ended it, but I am still hoping for a second season or maybe just 1 or 2 OVA’s to fill in the gaps. Like Daisuke and Suzue’s “real” relationship maybe??? Because I still want to know if Daisuke is single so I can ship him with Haru (or maybe me because that’d be much better #daisukekambeislyf <3) This show is certainly a good one and definitely worth the watch. So, if you haven’t yet please give The Millionaire Detective Balance: UNLIMITED a shot. You can literally watch it in just one sitting. And that concludes my review of The Millionaire Detective Balance: UNLIMITED brought to you by the Kambe Conglomerate. lol #summeranime2020 #TheMillionaireDetective #fugoukeiji_bul #kambedaisuke #harukato #suzuekambe #balanceunlimited

Balance Unlimited was the Spring Anime of 2020 as most people already knows. Most people were looking forward to balance unlimited ever since April because of one specific character, Daisuke Kambe. The Millionare Detective. Even I was looking forward to him cause he is attractive lol. The reason why I gave this anime a 6/10 is because the pacing of the show was really slow. It was kind of weird because the show started to get good at episode 5 and ever since that’s when things were getting good and I enjoyed watching from episode 5 to 11. The first 4 episodes were like fillers and I was considering to drop Balance Unlimited but then I gave it a chance and it was alright. It’s not really an anime I’d recommend someone unless they are into detective animes. Overall, the story is a 6/10, character is 8/10 I really loved the character development of Daisuke, art is a 9/10 i loved the character designs, sound is a 7/10, enjoyment a 6/10 and overall 6/10!

Fugou Keiji is quite the eccentric anime, with a very… interesting way of dealing with the plot. In all honesty, I would have preferred for the anime to be a comedic episodic anime instead. The strong charm that the first episode gave to pull me in was never really matched with the rest of its run. But that stands on my preference, because the anime turned out fine anyway. I was just… disappointed to see a supposedly main character feel like a B plot side character. Character: 7/10 Honestly, the anime had a very charming cast. What’s not to like in a cold-hearted and smug character in particular? I would have been fine if the anime just revolved around this silly character for any number of “filler” episodes. Even with the inevitable tropes of the anime, the dynamic atmosphere provided by the cast was just irresistible. However, some characters did feel like they lacked screen time or even emotional investment to sell their presences. It’s a so-so judgment. Story: 6/10 It was fine, though the title or synopsis might mislead you to certain expectations. It’s not exactly the common detective anime, and the exploration of mystery and suspense honestly feels off sometimes, possibly due to the somewhat light-hearted approach with the insanity of an unlimited balance (title). I believe the absurdity of the concept sometimes just clashed against opportunities for what the anime really wanted to be or feel like. Art/ Sound Design: 7/10 Art was not remarkable, but not forgettable either. A standard I’ve come to accept from anime with no big budget or production to boast. It’s clean most of the time, so nothing much to say really. On the other hand, sound was one thing I absolutely loved! I never skipped the OP and ED, as they were absolute jams. And when the climax comes for particular episodes with the vocal “Fu gou Ke i ji”, it’s always a delight for the ears. Definitely managed to enhance the wild antics of the anime! Final Notes: 7/10 It was fun. I had many good laughs. I’m not going to suggest this for the “detective” or “mystery” aspect, but rather for the simple enjoyable absurdity of the concept.

The fujoshi-friendly detective anime. When I started Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited, the first thing that caught my eye was its aesthetic. It strongly reminded me of works like Sherlock and even 91 Days, featuring a sleek look, a more subdued color palette, and a police procedural atmosphere. I went in expecting a relatively serious mystery anime, but I found a dynamic quite different from what I had imagined. The story's structure is simple and works exactly as intended. There isn't a major focus on building a complex universe or developing a detailed mythology. The goal is to follow criminal cases as two polar-opposite detectives work together. On one side, we have Haru Katou, who believes in traditional police work and justice above all else. On the other is Daisuke Kanbe, an absurdly wealthy man who solves practically any problem using money. This contrast between the protagonists is undoubtedly the anime's greatest charm. Their interactions create chaotic and even humorous situations, echoing the classic "straight-laced cop" and "eccentric partner" formula. This dynamic often works very well, keeping the show entertaining even when the "case of the week" isn't particularly interesting. The problem lies precisely in the element that makes Daisuke unique: his virtually infinite fortune. At first, it’s fun to see absurd solutions involving luxury cars, helicopters, cutting-edge technology, and multi-million-yen operations. The anime fully embraces this excess and makes it part of its identity. However, as the episodes progressed, I began to feel that money solves absolutely everything. Any obstacle can be overcome simply by spending a few more million yen, without any real consequences. The very concept of an "unlimited balance" ends up undermining the tension a bit. After all, if there is literally no limit to the protagonist's resources, many conflicts cease to feel like challenges and become merely a matter of which extravagant piece of equipment will be used this time. It’s a fun premise, but one that significantly diminishes the gravity of certain situations. Even so, the narrative manages to be entertaining. The cases move at a pleasant pace, and the main plotline involving the Kanbe family's past adds a bit more depth to the second half of the series. While I wouldn't call the story memorable, it succeeds in holding the viewer's attention right to the end. Visually, the anime is stunning. The animation doesn't try to dazzle with overly extravagant sequences, yet it maintains a consistently high quality throughout the season. The art direction opts for an elegant aesthetic, featuring highly detailed urban settings and a subdued color palette that perfectly complements the police procedural atmosphere. Another detail I really appreciated was the attention paid to the vehicles. The cars, helicopters, and other equipment Daisuke uses are rendered with above-average detail, something that really stands out for anyone who enjoys that aspect of police-themed productions. The soundtrack also deserves praise. It complements the series' sophisticated tone beautifully and helps establish a modern investigative vibe. Furthermore, the opening sequence is incredibly stylish and aligns perfectly with the anime's visual identity. However, there is an external factor that somewhat influenced my experience: the fandom. Since the main cast consists of highly charismatic and attractive male characters, a large portion of the community focused almost exclusively on "shipping" Haru and Daisuke. I have no issue with fan interpretations or shipping, that happens in virtually every fandom. What bothers me is when that perspective completely overshadows the relationship actually portrayed in the anime itself. For much of the series, the two protagonists build a relationship rooted in mistrust, ideological differences, and a gradual development of professional respect. I never felt the narrative intended to develop a romance between them, so it was odd to see so many discussions about the show ignore other aspects entirely to focus solely on that. Of course, this isn't a flaw of the anime itself, but it did somewhat affect my experience while engaging with the community. Heterosexual or LGBT pairings work well when there is some hint of romance involved, such as Ymir and Historia (AOT), Akise and Yukiteru (Mirai Nikki), and Shinji and Nagisa (Evangelion), since these instances align with what was actually shown in the anime. Overall, Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited is a fun, stylish anime that offers a unique take on the police genre. The lead duo works very well together, the visual production is highly competent, and the cases are entertaining. However, the concept of a protagonist who is practically omnipotent thanks to his money which reduces narrative tension and prevents many conflicts from having the impact they could have had. It’s not a bad work, but the lack of believability regarding the "unlimited balance" aspect, combined with the crazy fandom, affected my enjoyment of it. Ainda assim, a narrativa consegue entreter.

i started watching this anime in high hopes, maybe that’s why i’m a bit disappointed. the plot itself is actually interesting and unique, but i think it would have been told WAY better than this. it feels rushed, we don’t get to see any character development as well. however, it was still kind of enjoyable, at least the last episodes were somehow intriguing. the op and ed were catchy, the art was nice as well. if you’ve already watched the popular series and looking for something lighter to enjoy, i think you can give this anime a chance. just don’t be too expectant.

The show had the potential for greatness but luckily didn't fall flat like most others. I have nothing against Daisuke or Haru but throughout the show, I just didn't feel the connection between the two. The overall plot just didn't hold in the end, but I do gotta give it credit for grabbing my attention on EP5 and the later episodes. The animation along with the music was solid, especially the opening and the ending, SixTONES - NAVIGATOR absolutely killed it. Overall a good watch, there were a lot of things I just couldn't look past, but if you gloss over all that it's a solid show with action, spectacle, and thriller elements along with some wacky comedy.

The detective genre is as old as popular media itself. The short stories of eccentric detectives such as Sherlock Holmes, Hercules Poirot and Arsene Lupin have caught the hearts of millions across the globe, Japan having their own beloved take on the detective genre with Detective Conan. Quirky detectives are plenty, but the Millionaire Detective manages to not only bring to life a fascinating character in Daisuke Kambe, but also to develop his character and partnership with detective Kato in a mere eleven episodes. With such a bombastic premise, Millionaire Detective may turn off audiences just with extremely unrealistic solutions and tech, more akin to a comic book hero than to a grounded detective story yet plenty of realistic cases involving emotional characters are narrated in the story. Detective Haru Kato is one of the protagonists of this series, a realistic take on a talented yet burned out detective, frustrated by a flawed system that hindered his idealistic pursuit of justice. After being demoted to a secondary unit, Kato encounters Daisuke Kambe for the first time, an extremely reserved yet reliable heir whose best problem solving asset is money. With larger than life funds, Kambe relies on his infinite resources in order to solve complex cases alongside a less than thrilled Kato, who prefers traditional questioning and field work for his investigations. While Kambe´s skills do bring conclusions to seemingly unsolvable cases, Kato´s and the support of other members of the Modern Crimes division is also crucial to later cases. The dynamic of the protagonists evolves with every case, Kambe learns that money can not actually delete all obstacles from his way and Kato recovers his passion for justice by all means necessary. The past of Kambe and Kato is crucial to the story and is explored with flashbacks, that while necessary can feel excessive at times. The climax of the story ties up some of these flashbacks along with the overarching plot of a certain case involving Kambe´s past, reaching a satisfying conclusion to his´and Kato´s character arcs. The side characters, mostly being the others workers of the police department, are relatable and unique, even if they lack focus due to the series´short run. Even if most of the solutions presented by the series are borderline absurd, they´re extremely amusing. Sci-fi esque technology, an all mighty resourceful AI and a loyal to death assistant all belong to Kambe´s arsenal. Hush money is used to pay for any property damages during the cases (an actual receipt is shown at the end of each episode), highlighting the overall theme of materialism and its consequences in the series. Other themes such as family expectations, the meaning of justice and the ethical usage of technology are also explored during the series, mostly during the final arc. On the visual aspect, Millionaire Detective has polished animation with attractive character designs, Kambe´s design being the standout on the visual department. Although the usage of CGI can be excessive at times and the action scenes lack fluidity, the series overall is fairly well animated for its type. On the audio department, Kambe´s VA does an excellent job at conveying the smoothness and coldness of a man who has everything. Kato´s VA does a pretty good job too along with the VA for the remaining cast, giving a serviceable performance. The OST by Yugo Kanno (of Jojo´s Bizarre Adventure fame) adds to the fun and energetic atmosphere of the anime, Kambe´s theme being the best track for his character archetype. The OP and ED are also very enjoyable, properly setting the mood and vibes of the story. Millionaire Detective is definitely a hidden gem from the 2020s, a fun series that can take itself seriously at times with lovable main characters and a satisfying conclusion.

I have a feeling that this story's writer really wanted to be writing a Batman story. That's not an insult, to be clear, but the parallels are fairly clear. An incredibly wealthy orphan using his resources to (among other things) gain access to various gadgets and technologies he uses to fight crime, an actual batcave, complete with wall of screens. That's not to say there aren't differences; Batman was never LITERALLY a cop, and to be clear, this isn't a superhero show. But I'd be remiss not to mention that those similarities aren't there before we get into the actual story. In terms of that actual story, it's a slow start. Honestly, I wasn't sure for the first couple of episodes. The premise was kinda interesting, but as it started in its episodic structure, 11 episodes of case-of-the-week stories where everything just gets solved by Daisuke buying the mystery away wasn't especially interesting to me. Thankfully, that doesn't actually last all that long. Perhaps the first third of the show follows this structure, before it settles into a longer-term story. And, thankfully, that overarching story is a lot stronger than where it started. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing world-changing, but it's a competently told detective thriller with enough twists and a satisfying enough ending to feel like it was worth the time I put into it.

I remember at the start of the Rona everyone online was talking about this show. So, 3 years late I finally decided to give it a try. Overall it's a decent watch. The characters are fun and unique (Snack girl is the best character trust me). The art is well done, a lot of really nice cinematography. Having adult characters is always fun and I did get to see what law enforcement is like in Japan. And the plot twist at the end really gets you so I give them a lot of credit for filling this show full of twist and turns without feeling too out of place. But it didn't wow me. It met my expectations as a good show but didn't blow me out of the water. It was fine and I enjoyed myself but I think it was definitely overhyped (My guess is that it's 2 main male characters in a show with like 3 female characters in the whole thing so you know). I will way what is worth the watch about it is the comedy. It has FANTASTIC comedic timing and humor. More than once did I have to pause the scene because I couldn't stop laughing. The best one comes in the fourth episode and it's simply beautiful. So yeah give this show a watch if you're interested. It's not a waste of time by any standard, but it's not like the best thing since sliced bread.

the gimmick of the show is in the name The Millionaire Detective. what happens when a detective is also rich especially rich with an unlimited balance? the initial episodes start this gimmick off interestingly and show good dynamics among the cop-buddy duo. but reliance on the gimmick a bit too much makes the show seem rather hollow only to be made worse by a focus on the central plot which is weak, exasperating the feeling. lack of character development and the presence of filler side characters makes the show seem repetitive in the middle episodes too. not recommendable yet its charm might sit well with some out there.

The best way I could define this show is "fun". There wasn't a heavy emphasis on a specific story until later episodes which was nice. The first few episodes are basically an introduction to the incoming story, the characters, and to build up their relationship(s). I think that if you like detective shows of any kind you could enjoy this. It has some elements of surprise but it's possible that you can figure it out before they reveal anything haha. The characters are fun to watch, nothing super out of the ordinary and the world is just... normal. HONESTLY. This is probably one of the more tame anime's I've seen in a while which is probably why I enjoyed it. So if you want something dealing with detectives, a bit of suspense in the story, and something that doesn't deal with supernatural entities, this is your show! Hope you enjoy!
