This season is such a bore. I had high hopes for this. This season was just so boring , characters were just bland/hard to form a connection/bond with. I did not care what happened to them. For myself, characters play the most important role for me in enjoying/remembering an anime. The characters were just so generic and / or annoying with how they acted. Subaru being cringy/just yelling non stop. Emilia over-rated , so over-rated. Then you got a bunch of characters that are so dull like the yellow spiky hair furry , his sister is also a furry. You got a loli girl , a guy who I do not even remember green hat. Music/story is not even worth watching. This anime was so dry that I fast forwarded and watched in 2x speed (something I Do often) on anime that is not worth spending my time on. Then on top of that I could not even focus on the story, it was just a bunch of nonsensical jumping around, yelling , and filler. How is this anime rated so high I do not understand , but I do not blame it... a lot of the times an anime gets worse and worse as the series progresses such as Shokugeki no Souma , Psycho Pass, Tokyo Ghoul ,etc.

Re Zero is a Masterpiece Now Back in 2018 when i had originally watched season 1 i didn't think it was very special but with the coming of season 2 seeing all these plot points that have been laid throughout the show have finally come to light and for the most part been answered, and i don't have words to describe how thankful i am to be born into a time when i can enjoy such a masterpiece of character writing and storytelling. Enough gushing about how much i love this anime ON WITH THE REVIEW! The story of this anime is amazing breaking down the isekai genre in such a masterful way is both original and genius. The many plot points such as Rosewal's past and Emilia's past finally coming to light was such an exciting experience that i was damn near about to cry by the end of each episode. The reason for this is obviously the characters but ill get to that later, I really love the direction this season has gone and im very glad the characters we knew so little about have been explored so deeply. 10/10 The art of this anime, while being nothing special is just good enough to where you cant call it bad but not so good that you would compare it to WIT and attack on titan or One Punch Man, for for that matter any anime made by Kyoto. However something i can very much commend is how great the direction is when trying to take the focus from one character and put it on to the next. For example when Subaru finally showed back up at the graveyard with Beatrice and the camera goes from him where Emilia is looking to panning so we can see Beatrice next to him. As well as many 1st person camera point of views giving us the immersion that makes an anime great. Overall i couldn't ask for more and am very pleased with this art. 8/10 The sound or in my words music and sound effects are always on point and always having the right music play at the right time is a must for making an anime be this great. The hit sounds sounds have impact but not so much to where it completely takes you out of the experience. Giving little things like putting a sound effect when Subaru puts his hand on something is always done well and makes his character feel grounded as this isn't seen very much with other characters and is easily seen the most with him. Now the characters, *inhales* The characters are amazing so much to the point where they really draw out the feelings i have. I love Subaru, i love how he sounds when hes proclaiming something and i love how when ever hes on screen hes glowing. The breakdowns of characters such as Otto and Garfiel was great to see, the anime has a weird way of making me care for side characters Ive never given a second thought and i think that's just the amazing storytelling at play. What makes this anime feel so meaningful is the characters and how they express the feelings they have and the realizations they come to. Subaru basically made these people better and helped them find the change he se they needed. Its just as Emilia said "Subaru see the you that others don't". The characters MAKE Re Zero and the way character progression after character progression is done is in such a way that makes you think "man these characters are so fucking amazing and i love it". I used to completely despise Rem however this anime made me care about her and i think that's an amazing feature to have in an anime, being able to make characters understandable and allowing us as viewers to connect to them is such a gift that makes this anime what it is. Characters 10/10 My enjoyment, I ENJOYED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE there was almost never a dull moment and there is not a single episode in this season that was bad, each one was used for character building and its done amazingly. Each episode had me on the edge of my seat wondering where the story would go from here and it delivered EVERY SINGLE TIME. i enjoyed this anime to the fullest, 10/10. Overall, this anime is as i said in the beginning a fucking masterpiece which takes these characters who don't seem very special and makes them have meaning. I understand that Re Zero is not for everyone, and it pains me that some people don't see what i see in this show. Enjoying what you watch has been the main goal ever since the start and that's why we love anime, it brings out the emotions other media cant. Every aspect of this anime I love and i couldn't ask for anything more, watching this season was no less than a breath taking experience that had me on the edgy of my seat every episode and im so happy to finally be able to share my thoughts on it. I LOVE RE ZERO 10/10

Studio White Fox has really knocked this second part of season 2 out of the park. With every episode being 30 minutes and the majority without Ops and Eds White Fox is able to take proper time and detail with every well crafted episode. Nothing is rushed and with the extra time, the show is allowed to have slower paced scenes that are critical to understanding characters better and their development. These slower paced scenes also act as good breathers for the intensity which is Re:Zero. The art and sound design for Re:Zero has stayed consistently well done and is a joy to experience. As with the first season, many questions get answered and characters develop, but even more questions appear. However, this isn't a bad thing, and drives my interest for this show. I've mentioned it several times already, but I need to express how much I'm in love with the way characters and their relationships are written in Re:Zero. If you look at characters from the first episode of season 1 to the last episode of season 2, you see massive changes and improvements to characters. Furthermore, due to the slow struggles of the protagonist, each little victory/improvement feels fantastic. Everything feels earned. I wholeheartedly recommend Re:Zero season 2 and I cannot wait for its continuation.

RE:ZERO is one of the fantasy anime's that makes u want to know more about what is going to happen after that, so u better see all the eps when the series ends. Each ep has 30mins and it feels like you only see 10mins and u even don't notice the fact that they might not play neither the opening nor the ending, and when they did I always think that this might be new one hhhhhh LOL. Any way I am so glad to see this anime and this season aspecially, I personally enjoyed mostly in these 12 eps. The characters were surprising me in each ep as well as their beautiful and wonderful words. I no longer feel anxious about what would happen yet feeling so happy, sad, and nostalgic when I finish each ep. RE:ZERO is totally an imaginary world, yet the chracters and their conversations gives you that feeling of living what they are saying, and releasing that this actually what I am seeing in the real world .. I want to talk more about the chatacter natsuki subaru, but hhhh I don'tt want to give u any spoil so I just want to thank him here for all what he did from the first ep in the 1st season up to the final ep in this season.

welp this girl showed me basic human kindness it's time to be the michael phelps of the simpolympics this is a show where you are constantly misdirected and told nothing for 38 episodes, demanding ~20 hours of your time for an end result that is mediocre at best the ends do not justify the means and the show is overall very boring, it seems like every character BUT the main characters are interesting the most narratively compelling episode of the entire series is the only one that takes place almost entirely outside of the story, involving only the main character and (briefly) one side character at the end I wouldn't tell anyone to watch this show for anything other than Emilia's backstory

Absolutely loved this season of Re:Zero, while I admit the first part of season 2 was a bit boring and stretched out, the second part did it justice by including meaningful scenes and great character development, especially for Emilia. Not much to say for this short review except I really loved it. Story: 9 I was hooked on the Re:Zero story, and enjoyed it because of its deep world and well written characters, overall a worthy 9. Art: 8 While the art for Re:Zero is not bad, it wasn't particularly noteworthy or epic, but still solid animation and great work. Sound: 9 This is just bias from me, but I really love Re:Zeros choice of music for the OPs and EDs, it somehow just fits so well at giving the show that in another world vibe. Other than the OP and EDs, the regular soundtrack helped give the mood to many scenes, and brought the show to life. Character: 10 The character development in this show never ends, of course we got to see our protagonist's character change, but the real highlights in this season were the side characters, almost all of them had their backstories told, what they did, are doing now, and how they changed. Very solid character development this season. Enjoyment: 10 An obvious 10 from me, I got hooked on Re:Zero from the first episode, and I've enjoyed every episode since, a very great show in my opinion. Overall: 10 Re:Zero is the kind of show that doesn't necessarily appeal to everyone, but if it does, you can see the show for how good it really is. I think the show itself is a must watch, and this second season adds so much detail to the story that it's a must watch also.

As per usual the Re:Zero series fails to disappoint. Usually I get bored when watching a season with 24 episodes but I really liked how this time they split the season into 2 parts. After watching the 1st part it left me with a lot of questions and gave me excitement to what Part 2 had in store. Boy... There is was a lot that I liked in this part. We got to see a shit ton of character development and all that stuff. Don't forget about the relationship between Subaru and Emilia. The growth between the two was very heartwarming to watch. If I go on too long I'll spoil the season for you guys. That defeats the purpose of a review. lol Anyways, I think the art is fire as always and the OP and ED songs do the Part justice. The season was a roller coaster but at least it was thrilling and exciting. Re:Zero always will be a staple Isekai title to me and this season just proves that even more. If you are an Isekai fan and you haven't picked up the Re:Zero series. What are you Doing!? Stop whatever you are doing and start watching this wonderful piece of art. (made out of Subaru's blood...) Overall: 8/10

I'm here to balance the tards who give this anime a low rating for no reason. This anime is hard to talk about to someone who hasn't seen it. If you like anime, this is a must watch. Waifus, good storytelling, amazing soundtracks, 30 minute long episodes without openings and endings, is there something this anime lacks? Yeah, a 3rd season. There is really so much to talk about. Re:Zero is like wine, the more time passes, the better it becomes. While I loved the completely different approach to isekai, the second season blew me away. Every episode is better than the previous one and every time I watched a new episode, I felt like they climbed another step closer to become the number one anime this season, at least to me. I could talk about this anime for days, every since april 2016, I've been a huge fan, even though I watched hundreds of anime in the last 5 years. If you still have not watched season 2, or even season 1, give yourself a favor and watch this. It's gonna become, no, it already is a classic that everyone should watch.

There's a reason that the world exists in its current state, a reason that each character acts the way they do, and a reason for the protagonist's problems, and knowing that reason can provide the solutions to the problems which are presented both to the characters and to the viewer. This idea summarizes season 2 of Re:Zero very well. The first season of Re:Zero introduced many of the themes which are important to the second season. However, it fell into the same pitfall as Evangelion, where traumatic events are actually traumatic and lead to unhappy characters that make the show frustrating to watch. Psychologically accurate, but not entertaining. The second season managed to largely break free of the grim-dark psychology pitfall. Instead, it focused mostly on character development and a bit of worldbuilding. For some, flashbacks that explain a character's motivations slow down the story too much and they're left impatiently waiting for the main plot to resume. For others, it provides a depth of reason behind the world, characters, and problems, which is often entirely missing from entertainment. This season spent a large amount of time telling each character's backstory, and within each backstory is more information about the world and how it got to its current state. For a casual viewer, being presented with a puzzle isn't their cup of tea, but for someone like me, it's hard to find anything of such high caliber in this department. That said, a few issues still existed, such as Subaru's ability to magically know things which were only explained to the viewer, or his sudden aptitude for magic without any extra training. Having not read the source material myself, I can't say if these issues are in the source material or just the anime, but I suspect it's the result of eschewing things to make the anime feel more like a normal magic-and-friendship isekai. The feeling of impending doom continued in this season, but Subaru is much better equipped to deal with it and it doesn't override the events of the main plot as it did in the first season, giving it a fairly serious tone which isn't for everyone. Of the many merits of this show, I found its portrayal of long-lived characters to be of particular note. Characters such as Puck, Betty, and the Witch are all given a certain aura of depth which is shown in their diverse reactions to various scenarios. They're characters who already know exactly what they're going to do in any given scenario, whereas younger characters such as Garf make things up as they go and are much more volatile. It can be very difficult to make age into anything more than a number when writing fiction, so the fact that the age of each character is so well portrayed in their actions is particularly impressive to me. TL;DR: Great character development and worldbuilding, but a serious atmosphere and less action than your average anime. I like all of those things, so I think it's very good.

Re:Zero season 2 is a tour de force in character development, surprising even the most jaded anime fan with its depth and complexity. -CHARACTERS- 10/10 From the confines of the Sanctuary, the characters undergo a grueling training that tests their emotional fortitude and reveals their deepest, darkest fears. Emilia, Beatrice, Roswaal, Garfiel, and even our main character Subaru are all bound to their past traumas, grappling with the pain and heartache that shaped them into who they are today. The season weaves a web of interlocking character arcs that are poignant, heartbreaking, and ultimately rewarding. The author fearlessly pushes his cast to their limits, exposing their flaws and making them unbearably unlikeable at times. But in doing so, he masterfully charts their journey towards growth and redemption, creating a tapestry of richly realized characters that defy expectation. -STORY- 9/10 The lore of Re:Zero is intricate and dense, filled with consistent world-building and minimal plot holes. The time-loop structure is brilliantly executed, immersing viewers in a world that is both fascinating and terrifying. While the series can be slow-paced and dialogue-heavy at times, its attention to detail and foreshadowing keep the viewer invested and engaged. -SOUND/ART- 8.5/10 The production value of season 2 may not quite match that of its predecessor, with a few scenes feeling overly drawn-out or lacking in polish. However, the sound effects, atmosphere, and overall design still evoke a sense of dread and wonder that are integral to the Re:Zero experience. -OVERALL- 10/10 Re:Zero season 2 is a triumphant return for the series, delivering on its promise of heart-wrenching drama, thrilling action, and memorable characters. Its meticulous attention to detail and character development set it apart from other anime, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre. While the pandemic may have impacted production value, the quality of the storytelling shines through and leaves viewers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this captivating saga.

I have just completed Re:Zero 2nd Season Part 2. Taking a break from the usual intense suffering of Subaru, this season took a great deal of time focusing on the triumph over many of the tribulations our cast has had to endure and everything it took to get there. From developing it's side-cast in a major way to delivering answers to questions that have been proposed since Season 1, this season delivers in every way. It even takes some time to worldbuild and while I think it still needs a bit more in this department going forward, it's a very welcomed addition to Re:Zero. White Fox did a phenomenal job animating Season 2 overall, but their skills really shined in Part 2 specifically. Many emotional hard-hitting scenes wouldn't have had nearly as much impact if it wasn't for White Fox delivering these moments with the love and care you can clearly tell they have for this series. From many fantastic backstories that give much more depth to characters that were lacking a lot beforehand to the epic, climatic battles that take place near the end of the season, Season 2 Part 2 will always be a very memorable experience for me. This cast (as dysfunctional as it may have been at first) really rallied together in a special way to make the conclusion to Season 2's arc very satisfying. I was pleased with this Part so much that I have decided to award this Part of Season 2 with a 10. No longer relying on the intense death scenes and constant shortcomings of Subaru to drive home the drama, this is where Re:Zero absolutely stands out and I start to find a deeper meaning within the series. While no series can be absolutely perfect in every way as that kind of statement feels very arrogant and pointless to make, for me Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2 gave me everything that I wanted and even more. Personally, this Part is more than deserving of a 10. This all goes without going in-depth with the top-tier voice-acting, an immersive soundtrack as well as memorable opening and ending themes/sequences as I want to keep this review relatively short. Re:Zero has been my favorite isekai series ever since I watched Season 1 as it aired back in 2016 and Season 2 has only solidified this view that much more. If you have completed Season 1 and you want more, this 2nd Season as a whole I believe will give you even more than you expect. I absolutely recommend this series for anyone who wants to give it a chance. The payoff is so worth it. This release was borderline perfect for me and it was an amazing time. Waiting for the next episode every week was worth each agonizing second and I can only hope that a 3rd Season will be green-lit at any moment. I apologize for any grammar mistakes or anything I may have left out, this is actually my first review ever on MAL. I felt compelled to give my opinion in a review for the series because of the impact it made on me. Thank you for reading.

Re:Zero S2 Second Cour ended today, and I am absolutely furious that I have to wait for who knows how long until I see a continuation. This review will contain minor spoilers but nothing that would make you want to drink drain cleaner Story: Re:Zero S2 P2 is much much much more story/backstory oriented than part one. It delves into Emilia backstory, Roswaal backstory, Beatrice backstory, The Sanctuary's origins, Ryuzu and Garfiel, even fucking ELSA! We find the answers to a lot of the questions that part one raises, like how the sanctuary was formed, Why is Emilia so traumatized. wtf is ryuzu, more betty info, why is Garfiel such a cranky bitch, and most importantly, Roswaal's motives. I can't say much more about the story than that its amazing. The highlight of the season though is definitely Emilia's backstory with Regulus and Pandora and the saving of the mansion. Art: The art is good, but I would say it looks a bit worse than last season. For some reason, Subaru is drawn so weirdly a lot of the time this season, Like only Subaru. Other than that, the animation is good, nothing that will make you orgasm but nothing that will make you want to drop the show either. Garfiel vs Elsa looked sexy asf though. Sound: Re:Zero has a great ost as always. OP and ED were good, but probably the worst Re:Zero has seen. nothing much more to comment here. Characters: Ahh, Re:Zero characters. While many believe Re:Zero's characters are its weak point, I think its quite the opposite. Re:Zero has some of mthe most complex and detailed characters I've ever seen. Specifically, Subaru. Everyone fucking hates Subaru, and I've never gotten why. Subaru in Re:Zero season 1 is a FLAWED CHARACTER. A flawed character does not equal a bad character, like Reiner from AOT, Shinji from eva (hot take) or etc. Subaru's pride and selfishness make his character development the most satisfying character development I've ever seen. This part of the season showcases the Subaru with newly found confidence after Otto set him straight. We actually see Subaru a bit less this part of the Season, so Subaru haters, what are you complaining about? Emilia got the development she most definitely needed. Her influence from Subaru and her backstory being opened up to her made her great this season. Beatrice opened up, Best boy Otto got development and went full badass mode Garfiel faced his past, Ram revealed her love for Roswaal and the extent it goes to, Roswaal got FUCKING OUTPLAYED WOOOOOOOO, and I'm interested to see where they will take his character into the next arc. We got to see Betelgeuse again, and we also meet remeet Regulus, and meet Pandora. Regulus is easily one of my favorite villains of all time, and I'm sure we'll see Pandora again. Overall, Re:Zero has fantastic characters that make you keep watching. Enjoyment: As you can tell, I think I enjoyed Re:Zero. Overall: I highly recommend this series to most. If you are looking for a more action based series, this might not be for you, but otherwise, Re:Zero presents a strong story with well fleshed out characters that will have you falling in love with the series

This review will consider season 2 part 1 and season 2 part 2 as a single season. Suburashi. Sugoi. Unbelievable, and perfection. Those are the words I would use to describe season 2 of Re:Zero. It is a powerful season, with some of the greatest moments in anime history, along with some of the scariest, and one of the most engaging mysteries I have ever seen. Please go watch this season in its entirety. You will not regret it. Season 2 pretty much picks up right where season 1 left off. After many trials and tribulations, Natsuki Subaru has finally reached the conclusion he was hoping for. We open up with Emilia, Petra and Subaru riding in a cart, exhausted, but feeling happy. After the events in season 1, Subaru has to confess something to Emilia but that's where season 2 drops probably one of the biggest shocks and skin-crawling twists of all time. Right at the opening, and just three words...three simple words that turns the audience's world upside down. Yes, it is going to be quite the ride this season. After that massive twist, our story begins proper and my gosh, this story is unforgettable. Season 2 is once again a mystery season, but the mysteries this time are far bigger and much more impactful. Paradoxically, season 2 is actually somehow slower than season 1, but do not let that fool you. Where as season 1's story felt like a drag at times, season 2's story is lighting fast and engaging. The world is fleshed out even more, and there are some genuinely earth-shattering revelations that will happen throughout. There are detours that explore the backstory of our characters, but even these are engaging and extremely well written. Not to mention, season 2 has some of the best emotional moments of any media. Not just anime, all media. There are two particular episodes where you simply can't hold back and will cry. It is going to happen, and it is going to be a good cry. Once again the animation for season 2 is great, and they really nailed the vibes of this season. Since it is slower, we do get a lot more dialogue this season, but the animation team did great making these scenes feel engaging. Characters have more expressions, backgrounds are more detailed, and it is even more beautiful at times. On the flip side, that does mean when things get action packed, that action stands out. The visuals and effects used making the action exhilarating, and the sound design compliments it well. The horror also returns, and let's just say, your skin will crawl when the horror pops up and you might need a break. The characters this season were exceptional as well, and since it is more dialogue based, we truly get to know these characters a lot more than we did in season 1. The two that truly stood out though were Beatrice and Roswaal. Again, I wish I could say more but it simply needs to be watched to truly understand. It is something you feel, and it can't be put into words. To go along with that, once again, the Japanese cast perfected this season and truly made it special. Subaru's VA went all out this season and it showed in that performance. All around, every character had lines that stood out, and almost everyone had a emotional vocal performance that will probably be never matched again. It is truly magical, and something that must be experienced. I can't put into words how amazing Re:Zero season 2 is. The story, the characters, the music, visuals, horror, twists, and especially the emotions are all ramped up and it is truly spectacular to watch. As it nears the conclusion, it is literally impossible to stop binging, and so many epic moments happen so fast. Please, if you watched season 1 of Re:Zero and never saw season 2, please go watch it now. If you haven't seen Re:Zero, go watch season 1, and then watch season 2 right afterwards. I think once you do, you will understand why I struggle to say anything in this review.

Note: The things said here apply to both parts/cours one and two, as I believe they share the same strengths and weaknesses. Either this is a grand, complex narrative akin to classics like the Steven King catalogue, or Re:Zero is a terrible show. And either way, I don't get it. To me, the second season highlights almost everything wrong with the first series while draining it of its strengths, which saddens me immensely. It all comes down to me not understanding the whole thing. As before, Re:Zero drops plot threads faster that you can follow them. There's little relation between villains in both seasons, characters move in and come out like set pieces, and locations remain unfamiliar. At the end of the first season, it was often a criticism that the season ended on a strange and inconclusive note. We were left wondering, what was the point? Why did killing the whale help with assisting Amelia? These questions remain unanswered in the second season, and then only add more. A fundamental part of any series is establishing a goal, preferably in the first episode: Pirate King, Hokage, stopping a serial killer in the past, finding and settling with a romantic partner, etc. In this regard, even SAO tops this series; at least it has a clear goal. Re:Zero has helping Amelia become queen? But also surviving with all of Subaru's friends intact? Even worse, the obstacles to these "goals" are even less well defined. Save this character, go to this place, leave that place except you can't because reasons, and who even knows why this place is so bad, kill this monster, confront inner demons, it changes EVERY OTHER EPISODE. I'm running around in circles trying to figure out what are the motivations behind every action, how does this new part of the magic system work, what does this sentence mean. Nothing makes sense to me. The most enjoyable part of this series for me was about some witches that appear as major characters. In terms of the 7 Deadly Sins, I've yet to find it better in anime than it's done here. Each was an interesting expression of their sin, while still being good characters in their own right. In general, the soft magic system piqued my curiosity rather than just feeling like an excuse for the author to do what they wanted. This makes me feel that this show is far too fast paced-taking time to think things through would vastly strengthen this narrative. Instead they dump lore without giving it time to breath. Characters going on and on without actually saying anything helpful or insightful. Right now, it feels more complicated and circular that Kingdom Hearts, and a large part of that is the dialogue. This show gives Oregairu a run for it's money in terms of the awful dialogue, with bold, dramatic statements that only come off as pretentious. It should have been far more grounded and understandable, instead of wasting time. I do have to commend the series for what it does with it's characters. Subaru was and is always growing and reflecting, making him somewhat of an island in the sea of confusion. We FINALLY got some good Amelia stuff to make her actually likable, probably the one area this season has over the first. Beatrice, Echidna, and Otto, were all used extremely well and made sections that were even fun to watch. Production values, too, held up over the four-year gap between seasons. Re:Zero is not noticeably worse unless you really pay attention, so those who are not animation geeks will be satisfied. I want so badly to like this the way I did the first season. There I could admire and respect it despite the flaws that it possessed. But Re:Zero seemed to me to just stop caring and do whatever seemed cool, which wasn't what it should have been. Maybe it is a setup for a larger narrative, but on it's own it stagers, too ambitious for it's own good. I can't recommend this show anymore, which breaks my heart.

I absolutely loved season 1 of Re Zero. I was also a fan of the first part of season 2. However, as the season went by the story became more and more confusing. As someone who doesn't read the light novels, a lot of the scenes and dialogue in the anime just didn't make sense. I resorted to watching youtube videos about the cut content just so I can understand wtf was going on. I was relieved to find that I was not the only one who thought this. Bottom line, this season was not enjoyable. The animation was mediocre, the sound mediocre, and the story line was not coherent. But worst of all of it, was Emilia. Emilia is by far my least favorite character in the show. She is simply a unidimensional character that is naive beyond belief. I was very disappointed to find that most of the season would revolve around her character development. Her mannerism is akin to a toddler and so are her world views. Before the trials took place Emilia was a naive toddler, which I found unbearable, the only thing that changed after the trials was that she became self-righteous. Somehow they managed to make a whining infant more unbearable to watch. Other than the atrocity that is Emilia, I quite like most of the other characters. Subaru is generic but relatable, Roswal is ominous and mysterious, and Otto is likeable. Despite this, I cannot rate this part of the show more than a 4/10.

So, this half is about un-!@#$ing situation from the previous half (review ID: 387676) and Subaru's genius plan is thus: dropping empty platitudes & faith against rationally justified doubts and relying on sudden plot-armour. This show continues to abuse the trope of introducing characters as unhinged mass-murdering psychopaths to whitewash them into "nakamas" later, to the point of full-blown Stockholm Syndrome. Of course, our hero continues to re-learn from zero that for things to change, someone has to try to do something instead of sobbing while laying in embryo pose, even if that's someone else. And fighting still continues to be a bunch of random yelling drivel, flying & teleporting and glowing with "nah, my powah is more powahfull than yours just cuz plot demands it" and "big emotions make stronk / kokoro mamoru nakama" attitude - all what is considered to be lowest anime stereotypes. All this accompanied by overly prolonged scenes of whimpering & raving and repeating the obvious and/or meaningless under sad pianos and violins. Every "debate" continues to be a fallacy of appeal to emotions. Once again, director, probably, aimed at provoking some feelings, sympathy and whatnot, other than ironic chuckles, cringing and facepalms. Instead it mostly results in more detachment from characters in their emotional moments as repeating same cheap, bland tricks leads to desensitization. Especially when characters fatally fail because they wasted time on whimpering and blathering in moments of emergency. Fortunately, Subary is not the only thoughtless emotion-driven fool in this story, especially after others being "infected" by Subaru's brain disease. Unfortunately, it may mean that the true fools were story's writers all along. The poor bastard not just wouldn't develop any abilities, without plot shoving them into him - he can't, judging by the fact that all glowy powers are given at birth or by circumstance. Just as he's not allowed to learn, understand and recall things unless plot commands so. Power-levels and abilities of all characters change from scene to scene on convenience, as previously. Of course, trope of overpowered characters conveniently going into coma without any physical damage to increase drama isn't limited to Rem's case from Season 1. On the bright side, more things happen to fill important backstories but playtime isn't effectively used as story could have been fast-forwarded by squeezing-out unnecessary mush. And the payoff to Subary's & Emilia's stupid emotional talk is pretty nice… for a moment. But even then Subary goes and shits his useless ass all over Betty's story (he knows undeniable facts for general persuasion and he has trump card for immediate recruitment, instead he chooses neither and blabbers irrelevant nonsense to be denied any solution and stand with mouth agape; just as he spat on the giving hands of her mother in previous half), as he always does. Or, more precisely, writers deny him a powerful ally by contrivances once again as he's not supposed to progress in either mind or strength, apparently. It's like they insist in roleplaying INT=1 / STR=1 / DEX=2 / CHA=9 character without levelling. !!! Possible SPOILER !!! [not actually a part of main plot, as it hinges purely on emotional outbursts] How apt that, to remain a hapless fool and discuss feelings or some shit, he stubbornly refuses all 3: Mother & Daughter & The Library of Knowledge. To the point of literal book-burning, books that worth more than whole country the throne of which they supposedly fight for. What's the moral of this story ? "Knowledge is evil, ignorance is virtue", maybe ? "Life of random events brought by ignorance, emotional outrages and lack of rigid planning is more exciting" ? "Subaru is such a monstrous character that annihilating knowledge and wisdom within himself is not enough, everyone around him and the world itself have to lose them too" ? For that, I despise that bastard more than any villain in any anime and wish Diavolo's fate from Part 5 of JoJo unto him.

The second part of Re:Zero season 2 is a most fitting conclusion for an overall incredible arc. <Spoiler Free Review> First thing first, let me adress the elephant in the room: I love Re:Zero. So far, it's my favourite anime of all time and one of my favourite stories in any media I've ever consumed, so naturally a certain degree of bias is inevitable. Still, I'll try to be as objective as I possibly can. Story: In contrast to the first half of the season there is a lot more action, thus there is not much going on in terms of plot. Subaru must free the Senctuary and at the same time stop the attack at the mantion. Since we know as much from the first part, there are not many new things happening. Although we do get some character backstories, some of which perfectly lay the groundwork for future plotpoints. (8.5/10) Art: Re:Zero is a show that heavily focuses on dialogue. It doesn't share the eccentric style of the Monogatari series, but you can see the effort put into most of it's scenes. The animation in and of itself is kind of a mixed bag; there are a couple of static scenes, but also some really well animated sequences. (7.5/10) Sound: New OSTs, all awesome and manage to perfectly capture the tone of each scene. (10/10) Characters: The meat and potatoes when it comes to Re:Zero. This time around the narrative targets the secondary cast (mainly Emilia and Beatrice) rather than the main protagonist. Even though we don't get the same level of character development we've previously seen with Subaru, we get important backstories, character motivations are eshtablished and the goals of each individual become more apparent. (10/10) Overall: We get to explore most of the characters in depth, understand them and watch them act. Almost everything organically flows into the story and, while the plot itself doesn't progress much outside of our expectations, the feeling of progression is everpresent. (9/10)

If you have watched season 1 of Re: zero and you liked it before you are definitely going to like this season 2 part 1 and 2' After waiting for a season 2 we going the best way our selfs a good ending to this arc. Character-wise they gave the audience a good depth into the character backstory and especially with Echidna and Emiliya. We don't have to talk about Suburu kan, He's Always our optimistic protagonist. Giving more side info into the side characters such a puck Garf and even our otto gives a lot of depth to the anime-only viewers Art wise it has improved from season one while keeping the same aesthetic. the same studio has done both season 1 & 2. The subtle changes in Emilia's Character design are on point to showcase the maturity of the character. Also how the character designers portrait Ram's emotions were exceptional (ram is most of the time has a very plain face and show fewer emotions). Sound-wise, ah Subarashi... Long shot by Mayu Maeshima was a banger as every op of Re: zero series and the ED "Believe in you" by nonoc really aligns with the story of season2 part 2 because of all the emotional connection. It really hit the spot. ALSO THE RAM"S LOVE SONG - What you don’t know in Ep. 23. Get ready to cry with that song. Overall if you are a Re: zero fan you will thoroughly enjoy it.

More of the same from this season. One of the most interesting things about this story from its beginning is how the writer has chosen to make each character dynamic, having stories that extend beyond what is shown in the show. Like before this is a show focused on insight into it's character, allowing us to see their depth through how they develop and change depending on context. This season was pretty heavily focused on one of the 7 witches named echidna, on the internal reflections of Subaru learning to rely on others, and Emilia going through a similar journey to Subaru in the first season but coming to a different, non conflicting conclusion. Like the first season there are many themes going on here and these are just the main take away. At a surface level the story really went nowhere and it shouldn't be too surprising since the world and what is happening in it is only secondary to a story that is focused heavily on the internal struggles of its characters. For people that are interested in the surface level of things, the plot really didn't move at all, a few characters were added to the cast and who the cast is was the main focus here. It will be a slow feeling season for you but I think it will be an acceptable setup for season 3, so feel free to hold off on watching it until then or maybe just drop it all together. I doubt it will get any better if you only focus on and care about the plot events. TLDR: All of season 2 is a very good natural extension of season 1. It is pretty low in world building and has even less plot events this season which will turn away some viewers but I believe that's acceptable since this is a series primarily focused on it's character.
