Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3

This has been one of very few fantasy shows that has been able to consistently deliver a high quality engaging story even as it enters it's second and third seasons. Usually fantasy and especially isekai end up blowing everything on the first season, and really if we're being honest the first 3 episodes or so. Any unique ideas they had that get people hooked on the show are only the focus of the first few hours and the rest becomes the same fluffy generic crap you can get pretty much anywhere else. Somehow three seasons in this show manages to keep my interest and the some, leaving me wanting more. One huge draw is the characters. There's an ensemble cast, sure, but the focus is always squarely on what the main character Myne (or Main or Mine depending on who you ask) is doing or how events directly affect her and her family. One problem isekai shows tend to get bogged down in is introducing a never ending onslaught of new and uninteresting characters and putting the primary focus on them for a few episodes only to move on to something else the next week. This kind of storytelling is all fine and good in the novel format most of these are being adapted from, but in anime I think it's necessary to keep your focus clear and on a core main cast. Deviations in that formula need to be specific and have a purpose, and if you're going to introduce new characters they need to have enough impact that you'll actually care about them but not detract so much from what the main characters are doing that you're just left wondering when Itchy and Scratchy are going to get to the fireworks factory. All of this leads to quite the balancing act, so it's all the more amazing when a show actually pulls it off. At each turn you really care about what's going on with Myne and her family and each step toward her goal of bringing books and social change to this world that doesn't seem to want much of either. The world-building here is incredible and the attention to detail of how much her inventions affect the setting and how influential she has the potential to be. I think moving forward we're going to learn a lot more about the noble society and magic aspects of the world building, though we've been getting peaks and hints at them since the end of the last season it seems we'll be flung into it full force from this point. I can't wait to see what's in store and for this season I give a 9/10

The Smart Isekai. If you’re someone who enjoys nitty-gritty world-building details and its political tensions in your isekai without the things that hold the genre back like cardboard box MCs, harems, generic video game level and skill systems, immature writing, “tHe HeRo”/“ThE dEmOn LoRd” etc then Ascendence of a Bookworm will probably be right up your ally. After the first and second seasons focused mostly on world building the third is allowed to focus on the political ramifications of the reincarnated book nerd turned commoner Myne and her quest to create a library so she can become a librarian in a world with little in the way of literature. Thanks to her exploits and business her friends and family are becoming targeted more and more by the nobles who want to get rid of her and the pressure is on for her to decide being adopted into a high-ranking noble family. The season's escalation of events is well foreshadowed, feels natural to watch and the conclusion was both emotional and bitter-sweet. The one major new character Sylvester is hilariously charismatic whom Myne finds difficult to deal with at times amusingly (considering how everyone else finds Myne difficult to deal with). I’ve never been a huge fan of the show's art style. I don’t like the huge, glassy, soulless-looking eyes most of the characters seem to have. It reminds me too much of Big Mouth. I do believe the actual animation has improved a lot since season 2. It doesn't feel jacky anymore with a few exceptions. The improvements are especially noticeable in the battle scenes and the final confrontation had a sakuga flare which is always welcome. The show probably fairs better as a binge-watch rather than watching an episode weekly, but overall it’s more Bookworm and I can’t be mad at that because it is very enjoyable. I would say that if you’ve never watched this show before and you’re more into mindless, action figures banging into one another isekai and taking into consideration that there are two more seasons to watch before this one then I can understand that it’s a hard sell. However, If you’re looking for a chill change of pace and some edutainment on how paper, ink and books are made then I can’t recommend Ascendence of a Bookworm enough. 8/10 Great.

Just a headsup i will be only ranting and not talking much a bout the story but my overall opinion of the series. Good Season and pretty nice to see the animation adaptation of the this story come to light. Though the animation its self felt a bit lower than the previous seasons it still good to see they conclude Part 2 of this story. Overall its pretty solid for a show you light not know by reading the manga or the novel. If this was the case I would give this a 8 or barely a 9. But as a big fan of the Novel itself, it hard for me to judge it any less than my expectation. But honestly i think this will on apply to those that read the book or the manga but mainly those that read the book. Ive started this story read first the WN and envitually started reading the LN. Very rear but base from what i read so far from the Wb, it is much more detailed than the LN, while the LN stick to the point. Kinda like comparing anime and manga when it come to story telling. Overall hope to see more of this in the future. Anime should now entering part 3 of the novel, which covers Main or now Rozemain life as a Nobel and archduke daughter. The story from that in my opinion is more fun

I absolutely love this anime and was really looking forward to the third season. In terms of execution, it was good. The animation was never the draw of this show, but it did the job. I enjoyed the music too. Everything from the production side was fine. Unfortunately, ten episodes wasn't really enough to fully flesh out all the different arcs they were going for. There was the high priest conspiracy, the adoption plot, the merchant plot, the magic plot, the orphanage plot. Inventing the gutenberg press somehow felt like a side quest despite arguably being the culmination of the whole narrative from season one onward. With so little time, this season needed a razor sharp focus. Instead, it felt like the first ten episodes of a really good 26 episode season, with this as the mid-season rallying point. But there is no other half. This was a full season, and odds are, it's the last one we'll get. And for that reason, I can't rate this as highly as I would like.

I really enjoy this show, this season was pretty good, but it didn't meet the same expectations as S1 and S2, which is why I rated it at an 8. Season 1 was my favorite. It starts the journey showing Myne inhabit a new body and have to learn about the new world around her. As a book lover myself, when Myne discovers this new world does not have access to reading material like our new age world does I was very interested to see how she would bring her book love to life. Season 1 introduces you to her family, her friend Lutz, the amazing amazing Benno, Otto who teaches her writing and math skills, among others. This season is the best because it shows all the inventions Myne begins to create with her friends and also shows you that this world has magic. It does a great job of world building and getting you connected to the characters. Season 2 was a great follow up. It delves deeper into Myne's magic which has to be controlled by magic items, which causes her to have to work in the church. You are introduced to several new characters, one of them being Ferdinand. Ferdinand grew on me slowly, he starts off very cold, so I did not know how I felt about his character. As the season goes on, I start to value his importance as a character as the show gets deeper into magic, nobles and the safety of Myne. This season does some foreshadowing that Myne will have to potentially be adopted by a noble. Season 3 fell short for me. I still enjoyed watching it because I am interested in following Myne's journey, but the focus of this season was not that special to me. The season also focuses a lot on Myne's assistants, especially Delia, who I could careless for. It just didn't cause a connection to the characters that were being introduced like S1 and 2 did. The only character I was interested in this season was the introduction of Sylvester, other than that it felt bland. Some episodes I would follow more than others, but I honestly feel like not much effort was put into this season as the others. There also were random arcs that did not really develop that story further, so it felt like a filler season most of the time. Nonetheless, I am excited for another season. I do recommend this show even though season 3 was not the best! It is worth watching!
