1. Story (2) Unoriginal plot and team combos, useless dialogue, unsatisfactory ending 2. Art (6) Deku looked super sketchy, all budget was used on Todoroki, it was ok 60% of the time 3. Sound (3) the bgm was good but the plot was kinda lame so the animators were trying to hard to use the music. so everything was a mess bc they were trying to use boss music for a not cool scene 4. Character (2) Everybody was OOC and their personality was nerfed for the sake of the OVA and their personalities became so one-dimensional and minimal 5. Enjoyment (1) we had a good time but not really. we enjoyed roasting Bones over this failed OVA during our commentary while watching 6. Overall (2) would not watch this OVA again but would watch anime again. *disclaimer, we are not bnha haters, only bnha ova haters Read on for more dissing and hate :c *** sorry, not spoiler-free ** Ep 1 1. Recap was totally unncessary. if you were a big fan enough to watch the OVA, you would have known all of this. They couldve fit all of this into one episode, saving their budget and our time. 2. Realisically, the person they were trying to save would've already died by the time they reached them. 3. What was the point of dividing up the class into Team A and Team B when you would just ignore them?? They totally ignored the other half of the class, who already don't have enough screen time in the anime. 4. The part where Midoriya was muttering and analyzing the situation could've been totally omitted and super unnessary. This was very OOC of Midoriya because my boi would've been running while thinking this because he's very efficient. 5. Speaking of efficiency, nobody was doing anything productive other than talking!! They should've been showing more action instead of talking! Acting while talking! NO! They just talked and talked and talked. 6. Speaking of subdivision, Dekuharem and Bakusquad were too unoriginal. For an OVA, shouldn't they explore other team combos that we would be unable to see in the OG anime plot. 7. Tsu-chan??? This OVA made her personality "Call me Tsu-chan" they basically nerfed her personality she's actually very smart but in this OVA they made her super annoying and her only dialogue was "Call me Tsu-chan" and "kero~" 8. Bakugo was the only character that did anything decent in this OVA. He didn't talk that much and was a man of action what a refreshing change 9. Momo/Iida - momo is a hero in training, she could've totally dodged that debris it was falling for a full three seconds and why is Iida so useless he faced off against Stain the Hero Killer his Recipro Burst is super fast and OP but in here he was slow enough to damage his equipment also shouldnt his equipment hold up better damage than this and damn his helmet is useless whos in charge of the Support Department whats the point of the helmet 10. did the animators nerf Iida in the first three minutes of the OVA bc they didn't want to draw him 11. Todoroki already went against Dark Shadow during their summer training camp arc that was crashed by the League of Villains why is he so inexperienced in dealing with Dark Shadow and had to wait for Kaminari to turn on the lights??? 12. The animators made Kaminari's personality so wimpy :(( // Ep 2 13. Recap totally unnecesary, you wouldve been able to understand everything if you only watched ep 2, then what was the point of ep 1?? Exactly, that's how useless ep 1 was 14. Bakusquad reaches the dummy 1) dummy was crushed under hundreds of pounds of debris from the chest down for at least 30 min acc to the first ep 2) his blood circulation is prob cut off by now cardiac output is compromised so his brain and heart is prob lacking oxygen so hes dead but 3) they kept arguing for 5 mins on whether or not they should save the dummy HES DEAD 4) KAMINARI IS NOT THIS MUCH OF A WIMP 15. why are the girls such wimps after they saved Iida and met Aizawa sensei?? they wouldve totally understand and went back to save the rest of the class but Aizawa sensei had to explain?? that such accidents like Iida are a given in resuce missions? where is their common sense 16. why are they adding more people that need saving, aren't they heroes why are they also making themselves liabilities 17. Kirishima wanted to stay back with Todoroki even though he had an injured person on his back???/ sure he's manly bro but even Kirishima has more sense the animators did him dirty and took away his brain 18. the animators did everyone dirty 19. Deku, the protagonist, was so useless what did he do this whole time?? sure he exploded some rocks to get to momo and then kicked open the elevator but then they shouldnt have been injured in the first place so it cancels out 20. that drawing of Todobaku blasting themselves out on a geyser was supposed to be cool with the cool background music but it was something a kindergarten could draw it was so low budget 20(a) low budget is expected the whole OVA midoriya's face was super off 21. can't believe todoroki and midoriya had a monologue sequence before they bothered to check where Bakugo was BRUh 22. that Dekubaku moment was so cringe why did they had to argue for a whole ten min to get Bakugo to agree to use a cane like theyre in a high risk situation Bakugo should have had more sense than to refuse Deku's help 23. the whole Iida recovery moment was so cringe and unnecessary we don't need his whole speech about how he was useless during the whole OVA were the animators feeling guilty about nerfing Iida during the first ep so they gave him some screentime?? 24. why is Aizawa so proud of them for this mission in a real mission that dummy would have been dead or pulled his back or broken his neck after getting manhandled by Kirishima to safety while Bakugo was exploding the debris everywhere

Honestly, I wish we could see more of the dorm life instead of the training that we can already see enough of in the main story. It's not like this OVA is in any way terrible but it is very mediocre. Of course for some fans, just seeing some moments with their favourite characters will be enough and I admit, for Tokoyami, Todoroki, Deku and Bakugou fans, there surely are some nice screens and scenes. There are also small scenes of Izuku and Ochaco being cute, and Iida and Momo having a nice relationship as class representatives. Other than that, this OVA is very bland, the objective they aim to accomplish is nothing original nor interesting. I wish we could see how Team B training went too but as we can easily see, this group contained less popular characters who will probably never be much developed. Previous special episodes were much more enjoyable, at least for me. This one is nothing special. 5/10

Well that was a fun little side story to chew on. Other than the overly excessive recap of their names and quirks and all that which we knew beforehand I enjoyed it. the moment at the end with Bakugo being humbled even slightly and accepting Deku help as his "cane" made me smile. Favorite part was the new big three teaming up to reach the surface after all realizing the ice would be building up pressure. All of them figuring it out right at the same time is a nice touch. The boys knew what was up! Liked how many of the Class 1A students got to show off. All the big names that is. Momo, Tsu, Kamanari, Kirishima, Uraraka all had good moments. Overall a fun set of ovas showing our heroes going beyond Plus Ultra!!

Apparently they did this OVA just so we wouldn't forget the work, because the story is very bland, it doesn't add anything new and I didn't even have fun. As it was an OVA, they could have chosen a different footprint showing more of the characters' lives and not the same thing as always. Finally, I don't recommend it very much if you are not a fan of swimming Boku no hero, as it is an empty story, which will make you not wait for a season more than anything else. But if you are a fan. Compared to the original series there is no comparison, the original is 100 times higher, so don't take this OVA as a base to see the other seasons

So I dislike Boku no Hero Academia...this is pretty obvious if you were to look at my list but I've ended up in a situation where I watch this series with a friend of mine and that's normally fine. We just critique the series a bit and laugh as we go along... Look, if this shit is going to keep getting side episodes why does it always have to be a training scenario. It's boring, they already are training in the main series on the regular give me some more goofy stuff so I can find a way to like these damn characters. It's the same beats the series always does at this point in the game. >Bakugo does something that surprise the other characters around him because he's suppose to be smart, so apparently it's weird he can use his brain >Iida gets yeeted and does fucking nothing again as far as I am concerned. >Female characters? lol >Speaking of that, Ochaco being a mockery of a character who was kinda alright but now just feels like she's just pines for Deku and serves as a speaker piece for the other characters to understand Deku >Todoroki/Bakugou/Deku being the only kids that can be really useful for the stopping the biggest crisis ongoing. >All Might dick sucking The second movie was outlandishly stupid but it was actually fun by it's sheer retardation. The only thing that was interesting wasn't even unique to the ova. It was realizing that Deku has two funko pop figures in his room from the Shout Baby ED. Hilariously bad taste.

I'm a big fan of the My Hero Academia series, and I didn't have my hopes up too high for this ova because it was just another training episode, but I'm honestly disappointed with what I just watched. The story was okay, since it was literally just another training episode as I mentioned, but everything else such as the art and voice acting was really poor. Most of the characters looked very different from other episodes and seasons because of poor artwork and I personally look forward to the art the most whenever I watch something. The voice acting and sound wasn't terrible either but some scenes did not match up with the context, such as the scene where Shoto comes to rescue the other boys; his tone of voice does not match up with the screencap. The characters didn't differ much personality-wise, which is alright. I personally would not rewatch this just because literally every other episode/movie in this series is way better than this one. I believe it was rushed and poorly written for either that reason or another.

I didn't expect anything and I was still disappointed. Our heroes are training in the form of a rescue in a building which for some reason goes wrong and the building starts to collapse... on school grounds... of the most prominent hero academy... essentially endangering unexperienced students... That's the equivalent of being in a fireman training and they suddenly set everything ablaze. But don't worry Aizawa has counted on it and SOMEHOW has everything under control. Like what, gonna stare down the building to not collapse? They also tried their hardest to make this two episodes long instead of one. You can see it in Midoriya explaining the grouping choices which, if this was a proper episode, would be shown as him mumbling and someone making him shut up. It was dreadful to watch, like a commentator in a DotA match. Second unneedingly long scene AND turn of events was Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki being trapped for some reason unable to go back. Like Bakugo suddenly says that there is no time to go back to the exit... but the only problem was underground water rising which was quite slow. Also why is underground water flowing into a supervised building? Also who built the building? Can Cementoss just do whatever the fuck he wants? If that's so then he did a poor fucking job. Anyway Deku goes to the two "trapped" and we are yet again met with stupid gibberish about Deku planning in his head what will they do with their powers. I swear to god it was like watching Dora the Explorer. And of course nothing happens to our heroes because there weren't any stakes to begin with because this is an OVA and nothing must happen because the base material is set in stone by manga. 4/10 I only recommend to watch it for the KANA-BOON opening.

TLDR? this pair of ONA are crap. don't watch them, they're a waste of time. i'm sorry the animation team had to work on these. whomever wrote these episodes needs to be fired. story: crap. unrealistic. no credibility. not believable. nobody would ever do training like this. the entire premise is filled with DEATH. simply put, even highly trained professional structural collapse search&rescue teams and fire fighters would stop and not go into this situation without LONG planning and PROPER equipment. also, communications for emergency situations like this ARE AVAILABLE! hurricanes tornadoes etc. knock out normal cell service all the time. temporary towers, PORTABLE power to existing towers, local repeaters, everything can be brought in. Japan's FILLED with earthquakes YEARLY! they deal with hurricanes/typhoons yearly too! the halfway grown-up fans of this franchise will LAUGH THEIR ASSES OFF in Japan at how half-assed and shitty this story is. art. it's normal for MHA there's nothing terrible about it, they did a good job. sound. same as art. character, still the same, nothing new except pushing the 'exhaustion' FAKE DRAMA too far. this is set in S3 so nobody should be 'tired' from using their Quirk this quickly. they wrote that wrong. enjoyment, blah. as soon as i realized with the first support and floor collapse this was fake training to throw the Class into deathly danger this pair of episodes lost all credibility with me. i finished them off barely paying attention just to see the ridiculous and impossible ways they'd get out of this crap. overall, this was a turd and a waste of my time.

Honestly , It's just your usual My hero academia OVA Over-dramatic training , with the sentence "Beyond plus ultra" being yelled out every 10 seconds by all the characters , one after another for the most simple situation. Personally surprised that it was 2 Episodes , this could've been summed up in just one , but oh well. All these Training OVAs get kinda repetitive and boring at this point , but you should honestly just watch this if you're bored or got nothing to do cause you ain't losing much from not watching it It also feels like very lazy writing , but that might be just me Long story short , a boring OVA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I honestly thought going in that at least I d have an enjoyable time. Some of the previous specials had some enjoyment in them. But this is overall a big disappointment in each entirety. Story: Not a bad setup since we saw very little practical training and of that kind leading up to the provisional licence. But the execution is bad plain and simple. Artificial stakes and bad solutions dominate these two episodes. And I don't understand why the choice was made to focus so heavily on that. It is too difficult to create stakes in such a sort amount of time and it was obviously not thought out. Solutions also make very little sense at times and hurt the realism this scenario is trying to convey. It' shame because not all the thought processes the characters have are dumb. But where it matters the most, things just switch to a "turn your brain off" type of solutions. As just one example the geyser was not a smart solution and if it followed the rules of everything established in just this special, it wouldn't have worked. Characters: I don't understand. You have this huge cast build up over 4 seasons that can work off each other in fun and entertaining ways and this is what you can come up with. Over-explanations, unimaginative and boring conversations. This is supposed to be the one thing the show should be doing well and yet we get literally nothing. The "Asui/Tsu" joke happens at least 5 times. Is this the only thing that special has to offer in character. Soundtrack: It's the soundtrack we all know and love only now it feels out of place most of the time. Like the director was forced to use all the classic songs for the nostalgic/hype factor, so he stuck them around in places that theoretically fit the best. I am disappointed. My expectations were low, but this was a boring 48 minutes with little redeeming quality. I wouldn't even recommend this to someone who is a fun of the show.

The My Hero Academia: Make It! Do-or-Die Survival Training OVAs were such a fun and refreshing watch before diving deeper into Season 3. 🌟 Even though they don’t directly impact the main story, they capture what makes MHA so enjoyable—the teamwork, the humor, and the heart of Class 1-A. Episode 1 set the stage nicely, giving us the thrill of a rescue mission while showing how the students rely on each other’s quirks and strategies. Winny and Willow were hyped by the teamwork on display, while Tails couldn’t stop laughing at the lighter comedic beats. Mimikyu loved how the tension kept building, and Sunny admired how the students handled the pressure. Episode 2 cranked up the intensity with the flooding mall scenario 💦, making the training truly feel “do-or-die.” Bakugo’s big hero moment had everyone cheering (even Shadow admitted it was cool 😏), while Amy got teary-eyed seeing how far the class had come together. Sonic and Knuckles agreed the action was top-notch, and Kuromi thought the frantic pacing gave the whole episode extra edge. Overall, these OVAs aren’t essential, but they’re definitely recommended for fans who want more time with the crew. 🎬✨ They’re like a fun side quest—lighthearted, action-packed, and full of Class 1-A’s charm. The Plushie Crew had an absolute blast watching them together, and we’d say they’re the perfect warm-up before continuing the main story. 💥 Plus Ultra! Verdict: ⭐ Recommended for all My Hero Academia fans who love character-driven side stories and want a mix of fun, heart, and classic MHA action.

Before I give my review, I want to state that I've watched all of Boku no Hero Academia series and I consider the saga to be a true anime gem. Art: 1) the visuals are clean for the most part, with one particular exception in the early stages of the 1st episode where Ochacco and Deku were faceless. It looked too lazy and outright disturbing Sound: 1) usually I always give extra credit to Bakugou's seiyuu (Okamoto Nobuhiko) but due to medical reasons he feels the need to tone his screaming down, although at the end of the 2nd episode he went all out. I feel guilty for saying this but I absolutely exploded (get it?) with joy when he was screaming his lungs out. Still, I want him safe because that man is a treasure! 2) I want to give extra credit to Denki's seiyuu (Hatanaka Tasuku) because he did amazing throughout both episodes, increasing the comedy level with his voice work. I wasn't expecting it which made it even better. 3) soundtrack was solid Story and characters: 1) At this stage in the series with so many seasons, episodes, OVAs and movies, sometimes it feels that the author is struggling with creativity. In this two episode ONA, the characters happen to get split into the same exact teams we've been seeing about 80% of the entire saga and that means that everything that will happen will be incredible predictable and too much predictability means a sense of boredom for anyone watching. This entry in the Boku no Hero Academia series gets an 8/10 from me because it's definetely enjoyable although I'd appreciate a little bit more novelty and creativity in terms of story, teams and quirks' usage.

Meh. It did what it had to do I guess. I would have enjoyed it more with the full cast. Very solvable problems were drawn out to force a pretty bland plot. There were a lot of moments where characters seemed in stasis. They're beyond the problems that occurred in this episode. It made me think of Gentle. There shouldn't have been this many issues, especially with all the supposed heavy hitters on the team. It made me more frustrated than entertained at times and often took me out of the moment because I kept going, "why didn't they do this," and "why didn't they just use their quirk to fix that," and "it really took this many of them to solve a rather simple problem???" So. On a good note, a lot of character interactions were cute. Really love these kids lol.

I went to see the movie as a MHA fan and I enjoyed it, Among the positive points, a nice animation or even a visual slap at times, the fights are intense and worked, the general atmosphere is excellent, you never get bored, you alternate between laughter, carelessness and fear, pain... In the small negative points, I would say the rhythm a little too strong and the story not very original, especially the villain. (A kind of discount All for one) So I am overall very satisfied with the film and recommend it without any worries to have a good time without it being the anime of the century that revolutionizes things.

The thing with Boku no Hero Academia is that the entry-level is so low, virtually anyone can enjoy an episode or two without even being an avoid Anime watcher. I feel like these special episodes are the best way possible to introduce someone to a show, they don't need a full understanding of the encompassed plotlines diverting left and right to understand whatever is happening on the screen, a two-episode show about heroes in training going about their own day, very simple and applicable. Just like the show, these two episodes could have been naked into any season without it even feeling filler-ish, normal dialogue, all main characters were involved, pretty decent animation, and most of all, fan service (the good one that involves fan-favorite characters having their moments to shine). I've been away from this series for a long time now but that did not stop me from enjoying every minute of these two episodes, despite the low stakes, it kept me on my toes, fully engaged and attentive.

Yeah it's cool. A training exercise that goes haywire on purpose (thanks Mr. Aizawa) and all the A-list or most powerful characters spend two episodes trying to figure it out. I was surprised that there was a small physics lesson here that the writers took into consideration so Izuku, Bakugo, and Todoroki can get back to the surface in the most reckless way possible lol. So it's good, not great, and did make me wonder about the show a bit, because the plot is always strong and things are always happening even if it may not be as overarching as some people would like. But if you break things down like this with the class of 1-A into groups, will they have more of an interaction among each other than the goal of doing the most good? The only one who showed some real personality in that regard was of course Bakugo, who is always so stubborn and angry that anyone can bounce off of him, but nothing can really be said of anyone else besides I guess, "call my Tsu".

The OVA was pretty cool. like any other average OVA, the students in UA are doing a good job in the story. some what their characters are developing their actions & attack moves while solving the situation on saving the dummy. though lida tried saving momo, it's a bit of a shame that he didn't think faster enough to save her earlier ago before ceilings started to fall off. as for bakugou, he should probably take it easy and let deku & todoroki help out which even though he did, he's always a dick through out the whole series which kinda bothers me from his attitude. but hey it's just a character, who's gonna say anything right? by concluding this review, this might be a good start before swtiching over to season 5 which I'm very curious to see what season 5 is all about. that's my review for this OVA.

The story is the same as just any other BnHA OVA so far: a training exercise. So, nothing special there. There was a lot of forced comedy and a lot of "stressful" situations. Seeing as this is an ONA, obviously, nobody important was going to get seriously hurt. The art looked weird with this one. All the characters' proportions were pretty inconsistent and the animation was kinda choppy. The music is the same as the 2nd cour of the 4th season and I didn't really like the music of that part. //minor spoiler// The characters in BnHA are pretty boring and 1-dimensional. But, Bakugou got a surprising amount of character development. He actually seemed to care about his classmates. Still doesn't really remember their names, though. //minor spoiler// This was terribly boring to watch and the pacing was very weird. I think they could've cut out some unwanted dialogue like the characters just praising each other for no reason and the recaps. I feel like they could've cut it down to 1 episode or at least one 30 min episode.

Just finished watching this ONA. My overall impression was good, however, there were a few things that bothered me... WARNING! Minor Spoilers! I'll start by saying that it is really nice to watch our favorite Class 1-A Heroes back in action, if only we could see them all... I mean, both of the episodes were focused on Team A and completely ignoring the second one. Team B's characters have no screen time any way, so that made it even worse... I thought that this ONA would give the side characters a chance to shine since we don't get to see them enough in the main plot of the anime. Sadly, that didn't happen and I was fully disappointed. What's the meaning of releasing special episodes, if only the main characters are there?? The second thing that bothered me was that the animators knocked almost immediately out of the action a certain someone, while trying to get the best out of all the others. There were definitely some failures, like treating Kaminari as stupid and coward or unreasonably making Todoroki not use his power when he could have, that left me with this feeling of dissatisfaction. All in all, I liked the plot, but I would suggest they spread the story into 4 episodes instead of 2, so that we'd have the chance to enjoy the rest of the cast too. I'd finally recommend the Studio work better on the characters by removing unnecessary dialogues/monologues and providing them with more meaningful action.

This is a fun little side story featuring half of the kids of class 1A. It's nothing amazing, but considering the time that this was released and when I watched it, it was great and brought me enjoyment. Though-- I already knew I was going to like this because I really love My Hero Academia. Getting to see my favorite characters again is always fun. The plot of this is quite bland, but these two episodes are just filler content, and we're following a rescue training class, so there's not gonna be much excitement or plot twists happening. It was quite predictable plot, but it's not like they're gonna pull a fast one on us, cause again, this is just filler. There are few issues that I have, but they're mainly just personal preference things like; why is this filler content too placed before the provisional license exam? It's been a long time since season three happened, and I'm sure many would've liked to see filler content of the kids' lives in the dorms instead of another rescue training class. Plus, there's been a lot of character development for certain characters between the aftermath of the summer training camp and where season four ended, so to see the "old" versions of characters was weird. I also would've liked to know how the other half of the class did on the training. There are few other questionable things about this ONA but I consider those things as spoiler so I won't discuss them here. All in all, fun and short glance of the kids of class 1A, but it was weird that this was set so far back in the timeline.
