This late review contains three parts; the first part, the second part, and the final part. (Spoilers Ahead!!) Back then, the Shoujo magazine was pretty popular. It’s probably a misconception for the anime community that when it comes to Shoujo magazine, it’s full of moe elements and cheesy romance. The magazine was dominated to the max, and many anime fans received numerous mangas and anime adaptations like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Ouran High school Host Club, and many more. But nowadays. not all Shoujo animes are easily popular than Shounen animes. Some of the animes from the Shoujo animes back then were classic but it left unsatisfied for most of the fans of the magazine for its adaptation. And Fruits Baskets is one of them. Fruits Basket is a romantic comedy-drama from Natsuki Takaya, based from her one of her popular mangas from the Shoujo. I heard from one of my girl classmates that back then, it was pretty popular manga and Shoujo anime until it was butchered by the adaptation of Studio Deen. It’s the first popular anime that made one of my very favorite voice actresses, Yui Horie, debut in her career. Just like in FMA, they received an anime original ending, due to incomplete content of the manga. But later on, the popular Shoujo manga got received a reboot adaptation, revamped the animation, and promised to give it a “Brotherhood” treatment, just like what happened in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood with 63 episodes. But do you think they kept their promise? Let’s dig in! And almost forgot, this is not a reverse-harem! The Difference between the OG and the reboot; I’ll keep this short and straight to the point. The adaptation of Studio Deen was like a typical romantic comedy. Whenever you see a usual Shoujo romcom, the OG looks like that. They changed the atmosphere that was intended for the manga, by giving it a romantic and comedy vibe. The animation of Studio Deen was suitable for its vibe until they changed some scenes and added an anime original ending. If you didn’t read the manga, it was pretty enjoyable. However, if you already read it, it will seem that they didn’t give justice to the manga. The reboot was superior to its adaptation because they followed closely from the manga and the tone shifted from the romantic comedy vibe, into more Slice-of-Life Drama romance. You might say that they gave justice to the manga and the animation revamped into the next level. The better moment from the reboot, was you can feel the true intention of the story from the manga and Natsuki Takaya’s feelings to the audience. If you want a romcom vibe that you will find funny and fun, watch the OG. But if you want to feel the true essence of the mangaka and its proper story, watch the reboot. First Part The story follows Tohru Honda, an orphaned girl that was left to live on her own, in a tent. Until the Sohmas found her and took care of her. Her parents died due to an accident in different ways and she was left on her own, with her friends at school. She knew the Sohma’s family secret that they can be turned into animals, based on their zodiac curse. Thus, her everyday life begins with her new life with the Sohmas. The first part was the only “Introductory Arc” of the series. They introduce the main characters, the side characters, the world, and their demons in themselves. They showed the pain, scars, and how they did end up with themselves. The first part was pretty light-hearted and a bit dramatic. The characters were relatable as their finest and the atmosphere was great. I know that it was slow at first, but it’s a build-up for the upcoming events of the story. If you will invest your emotions and patience, you will find it very interesting. Even Akito, the main antagonist of the story was intriguing, because his character was cruel, evil, and most of all, selfish. The chemistry of the trio was very great, especially their intentions and their presence in Tohru. I like when the characters, especially Tohru’s best friends became meaningful to her, because of her mother. Kyouko became the light to guide their path in the most meaningful as possible. She’s an amazing character, despite her former status as a leader of the gang, she became a doting mother to Tohru and a good woman to the people that she ever encountered. She gave life lessons to Tohru’s friends, as well as lessons to ourselves. To make us reflect, as a human person. The character of Kyo became an improvement from the first part, as they showed his horrible past and his horrible curse. But still, he found a person that will accept who he was. His feelings for Tohru were gradually progressing, but I’ll discuss it in the second part. The first part wrapped out when Rin approached the Sohmas. Second Part The second part opened after the events of the first part. In this part, we saw all of the progress, after the build-up of the first part. Tohru’s growth within her relationship with the Sohmas had progressed as well, as she became closer to them. However, her sunny light became to fade, as she learned the truth about the dark curse of the Sohma family. We dove under the deepest parts of each characters’ pasts and introduced some new characters. The second part officially introduced Akito to Tohru, as she learned that Akito was the God of the zodiac. What I like about the second part was her relationship between Kyo and Yuki had progressed and we saw some developments from the characters. Especially for Kyo, he became genuine with his feelings and confesses his feelings for Tohru. He fought with his love for Akito, but in the end, he still lost because one of his pasts became to haunt him, as the story left with some clues that are meant to be answered in the final part. He lost the duel with Yuki and he will be imprisoned to death, as the fate of the cursed cat. Nevertheless, Tohru and Kyo’s feelings were gradually closer to each other. As for Yuki, we saw that the only thing that he wanted was a mother’s love. He found it from Tohru, but he was scared of what will happen. His childhood explained when the challenge between him and Kyo began and his envy for Kyo. It went in different ways of their envy; Kyou wanted the others to accept him but he got friends and “fun” life. While for Yuki, he wanted what Kyo had, to live a happy life and meet new friends. The shackles between the Sohma family were being a hindrance, from reaching the happiness that they desired. Like in Rin and Hatsuharu’s relationship. The curse within them held back their love from each other. Rin sacrificed and suffered so much for Haru, but still, she still loved him so much. The biggest reveal from the second part was Akito’s being a female and the curse began to break. Tohru’s life began, as she found herself in an inescapable situation. The Final The final part opened its final curtain after the last revelations of the second part. This was where the climax started, after all the build-ups from previous parts. The answers that were needed began to be revealed. About the curse, Tohru and Akito’s deep pasts, and the revelations of Kyo’s haunted past were began to encounter. Unlike the previous seasons, the final part consisted of 13 episodes only. The question is, it was handled pretty well? In a short answer, yes. Although they skipped some of the parts, it didn’t break the main storyline. We encountered Akito’s parents and why she turned out like that. We saw Shigure’s desire for Akito, and Kureno became a love rival to him. Akito felt that the end is near, as the shackles began to break, but she was desperate that she might be left alone. Kyou’s confinement was getting nearer, and his relationship with Tohru bloomed like a flower. The overflowing emotions of each of the characters were sad yet heartwarming. Like in Haru and Rin’s love for each other, she will sacrifice anything in order to break the curse because of her love for him. Haru began to end her suffering and in the end, he welcomed he…

After some time postponing I decided to write about this story that is one of my favorites among all the animes I've watched. Maybe if I had written minutes after the anime ended, this review would have had more visibility. However, that's not the focus. I'm just here to highlight the beauty behind Fruits Basket. The difficulty to write about the work is precisely because I choose words that are enough to express well what I feel through this story that helped to form the character of many, including mine. Fruits Basket, or simply Furuba, tells the story of Honda Tohru, a young student who, after losing her parents, finds herself without a home, family, hope or any expectation, living in a tent next to an isolated plot of land. After discovering that the land belongs to the Souma Family, a rich and traditional family, with many secrets, Tohru is invited to live in the Souma's house, thus being involved in the life and secrets of this mysterious family. The Souma Family's secret involves an ancient Chinese horoscope legend. The horoscope god decided to have a feast to show his benevolence. After having his invitation refused by humans, the god invited animals in his place and, moved by enormous gratitude, both decided to make a promise that they would be together forever, thus giving rise to the spirits of the animals of the zodiac. The Souma Family was chosen to share this bond, being possessed by the spirits of animals, solely to keep the promise in perpetuity. Souma Akito, leader of the family, believes he has a special bond with the other members of the zodiac and will do everything to maintain this bond, even if he has to oppress them, limit their freedoms, impose fear, punishment, or even resort to violence. This whole supernatural issue is just an allegory used by the author to develop her main idea, which is that of people overcoming their traumas. Fruits Basket shows stories of people who were victims of all kinds of abuse and suffering from the people who should protect them the most: the family. The zodiac itself represents a kind of destiny. Each animal represents a "type" of person with peculiar characteristics, a kind of destiny imposed from birth. The use of the zodiac curse is the author's way of saying that through the change and growth of the characters, we can also achieve the same. Even if it means fighting the idea of predestination. The plot revolves around emotional intelligence. Furuba presents us with tales of different characters loaded with traumatic situations that seem impossible to deal with. In Furuba we can meet, for example, Momiji, a naive boy who had his memories erased from his own mother's mind; we know Hanajima who is constantly excluded from friendship circles by some kind of prejudice, even suffering all kinds of physical aggression as a child; Kyo who saw his own mother commit suicide and was treated by everyone in the family circle as the culprit for such an act, being considered a kind of monster to be hated. Try for a moment to imagine yourself in any of these situations. In fact, this is one of the reasons why Fruits Basket is one of the best stories in the industry. The ability to assign reality to each character is impressive. We constantly see ourselves in one of the characters because the situations dealt with are similar to our personal history. The character core in Furuba is one of the best. Each one has its moment and importance to the story. Souma Akito, with his completely disturbed personality, is undoubtedly one of the highlights. You can hardly not hate Akito. But it makes us understand how people who hurt others are the ones who need help the most. Akito hurts, attacks, injures, in an attempt to hide shes own fear of loneliness. And, even if it is through psychological torture, she tries to fill shes void with a "special relationship", even if in a superficial way. How many people have not, at some point, done something similar? How many times do we subject ourselves to all kinds of humiliating situations just to escape the vain reality of an empty life? Abusive relationships, false friendships, addictions in general... Akito represents well this self-sabotage, which at some point we were victims, to simulate a false happiness. Fortunately, for every moment of sadness there is a moment of encounter with Honda Tohru. Tohru is the typical "airhead" character. In many moments naive, in others simply innocent. But make no mistake. Tohru is not just any character, she represents the kindness that is able to free us from the vicious cycle of suffering. It is the author's message to society that benevolence is capable of freeing the individual from traumatic captivity. Tohru decides to free the Soumas from the curse after meeting each of them. She was the first one capable of loving those people. Troubled people, suffocated by so much hate and rejection, submerged in constant darkness, knowing only prejudice, carrying the weight of a cursed fate, who hated the day of their own birth, could see a ray of light at the end of the tunnel when they received love. . . . Tohru's importance to the story is immeasurable. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and manage emotions, both our own and those around us. It starts from a principle of knowing and understanding emotions and then managing your reactions. The family experience Tohru received during her childhood was instrumental in our main character developing an effective foundation of emotional intelligence. However, every human being needs to be saved. It would be no different with our lovely Tohru. Since the beginning of the series Tohru has shown signs of exhaustion. Quite frankly! Who could bear to lose their parents and have to live in a tent, alone, reconciling work and school to survive? As Tohru rescues each of the other characters, she is also saved by them. Receiving love and support from her best friends, trust and protection from Yuki and the other Soumas, and her relationship with Kyo. She received from kyo perhaps the most important thing: a reason to keep going. It is evident that the desire to free the zodiacs from the curse is not due to pure and simple kindness. Deep down, Tohru's wish was to free Kyo, her lover. But who said a little selfishness is bad?! For a story that addresses a lot about all kinds of love, sentimental love could not be missing. The series builds its couples very well, and even if that's not the focus, Fruits Basket has the best romance in the Japanese animation industry. One of the key moments in the story is precisely the redemption of Akito. This moment portrays one of the most beautiful and most important things that human beings can witness throughout history: forgiveness. Forgiveness is the ultimate representation of love. In forgiveness we find not only love for our neighbor but also love for ourselves. It takes strength and determination to forgive, as well as being an attitude of intelligence. Forgiveness is the key to freedom. When Tohru forgives Akito she managed to free not only the antagonist, Tohru freed herself as well as the other Soumas. She freed them from much more than a curse, Tohru freed them from the past, the present and gave them the possibility to write their own future. The story deals very well with the aspect of autonomy of choices, making us understand that we are the only ones responsible for our life and we decide how to live it. Other points worth mentioning are the animation, which is beautiful, with great scenarios, along with the sound. Furuba's OST is magnificent! Whether for the soundtrack used in the scenes, which cause a lot of impact, or for its Openings, Endings and Insert Song's. Each of Furuba's songs is better than the other and portrays the characters' involvement in their lyrics well. Talking about Fruit Basket is remembering very difficult moments that I lived at some poin…

If there is a start, there should be the end.... Watching fruit basket really give me a total enjoyment from an Anime. A really great flashback and reminder once when shoujo Genre is a popular genre. It teaches you about friendship, life and also bond between one person to each others. Fruit Basket trully filling the empty space in my heart when i started watching it. It's full of joy and tears when watching it, it's like your feeling is mixed up between Happiness, and Tears. There is to much emotion to explain. THIS IS NOT A SPOLER, JUST A LITTLE EMOTION AFTER WATCHING IT Before i watched it, i never expected the Anime to be so much emotional. I thought it's gonna be An Shoujo anime more like Kimi No Todoke but with a little bit Supernatural in it. But Fruit Basket is different, Each episode from Seasone 1-3, there are only tears and tears in each episodes. It explain every character problems emotionaly. It reminds me about Clannad and Violet Evergarden, both anime with deep emotional feeling. Fruit Basket really explain me about Friendship, Kindness, and Family. About why bond between family and friends cannot be force toward one to another. But bond is made thrue true connection with feeling and love, and these two is cannot be force. I'm really enjoying this series. Its worth time and everythings. I just really can't move on from this anime, like maybe a really-really long time in the future. I can only hope that more Anime like Fruit Basket can be produce in the future. More slice of life, that bring Joy and sadness to tears. This Anime trully deserve 10/10 Thank you, hope you enjoy it. And to anyone that have watched it, You are enjoying it right?

Nothing has impacted me this much before in my entire life. It's incredibly well written and emotional, and I consider it a safe haven of therapy for me to return to whenever I'm feeling lost in my life. Maybe the best anime of all time? What more can you ask of a show? This anime inspired me to be a better person, cherish those around me, and live every day with warmth and a smile. Each character in Fruits Basket has his or her own hardships and traumatic past, which really connects with viewers as they empathize. Watching isekai is cool and all, but honestly, when it comes to what you get out of watching anime, how the stories and concepts actually translate to something in one's life, this show has it all. This is what it's all about. Not to mention the gorgeous animation and beautiful soundtrack! Everything about Fruits Basket is a true masterpiece!

This will cover all 3 seasons of the Fruits Basket remake and contains what I think are SLIGHT SPOILERS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TLDR: This is just rambling TLDR: If you want a complete and fulfilling slice of life romance drama then watch this. It's worth the time. It's great for the most part. But the things that I think bring down the story are some circumstances that exist only to serve the plot, repetitiveness of character backstory, and the ending may not be convincing. You might agree or disagree with any of these points and more, but even if you agreed with them all, I still think the journey this series takes you on it worth it. TLDR Over: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I feel like the author of Fruits Basket hates their parents because most of the conflict in this series are caused by evil parents that are shitty for no reason. Too many characters have trauma because of their shitty parents. One of the few exceptions is our main heroine Tohru, who's mom died in an accident. It just had to be her. Everyone's shitty parent got to torment their child for years except the good parent. Ok sure. But then she can't live with her relatives because they are also just shitty despicable people and she has to camp out in the woods. Holy shit what the hell she's only a high schooler. More bad things continue to happen to Tohru because the universe just has it out for her, until she's taken in by a kind hearted member of the Soma family. This guy is a true chad. They try to trick you into thinking he was the true final boss halfway through the story with his sinister scheming and plotting in the background, but it turns out he was just going around actually fucking everyone's mom while other characters sorted out the plot. Truly someone to be admired. So early on it's revealed that the Soma family are magic people that turn into animals when they come into physical contact with the opposite gender. They are all bound to their "God" Akito, and Akito happens to be an evil little psycho that demands absolute obedience to her. This includes sexual obedience for some and maybe she'll just feel like beating the shit out of another. Akito is the head of the rich Soma family so she has a lot of power. Except they don't show what actually forces members of the Soma family to obey Akito. Nothing is stopping them from moving far away with their loved ones and living their lives away from her influence. They all seem to have some sense of duty to her because of a magic bond. One of them even threatens Akito with physical violence and nothing happens to him. So it looks like this whole family is just allowing this tyrant to abuse them. There are lots of ships to be sailed in this show. Lots of characters have their partner and our main girl Tohru has her love triangle going on and it's not obvious who will win at first, which I like. So yeah, that's all I really cared about mentioning. I don't know how to wrap up this review neatly. I don't even like calling it a review because I think reviews are stupid and I don't think I or anyone is some authority on the quality of an anime. I just wanted to point out some problems I had with the show. But EVERY show has problems. Those problems I mentioned are some you might expect and I found this series enjoyable and worthwhile despite them, I think it's worth the time investment to watch it and judge for yourself.

The Fruits Basket manga has always been a masterpiece of shoujo, and this remake is everything it deserves. The art is stunning, the music is great, and best of all the story is loyal. Do not be mistaken and think this is a reverse harem, it's not. The love triangle evolves with the story and individual relationships blossom beautifully. Characters beyond the main protagonist get development, and the ending is incredibly satisfying. You don't have to have read the manga or have seen the original anime to watch this, this remake is the perfect introduction. Please do yourself a favor and take this journey of story-telling excellence.

To not write a review on this masterpiece would be an insult to what it was. MILD-MODERATE SPOILERS FOLLOW Fruits basket's strong point has always been its story and the tasteful way it deals with the difficult themes in it. - Losing a parent - Bullying, both as a victim and the victim's family - Abusive or overprotective parents - The struggles of parenting - Being an outcast - Being put on a pedestal as an untouchable idol - Goodbyes and new beginnings - Amnesia (of friends or family) - Personal insecurities - The happiness, beauty, pain, trials and tribulations of being in love The 2019 onwards adaptation managed to convey the story perfectly, and even added amazing art, music and animation to go with it, making the enjoyment level shoot up to a 10. Having known this story as a child, a teen and now as an adult, I can definitely say that despite your age or stage in life, fruits basket anime is one that can be enjoyed by all. The characters are well-crafted, each having their own identity and trials that they have to overcome - and given how there are so many of them, I'm sure that everyone can at least find something to relate to. The latest adaptation really did the manga justice but stringing together this wonderful tale in full color, without missing out any of the manga, and bringing it to life on the screen for more to enjoy.

This is the most emotional ive got since ive started watching anime or shows in general. The emotion i felt during the last episode when everything came to an end is undescribable for me. I was so happy for them yet so sad that everyone is moving on with their life. Not seeing them doing silly things in their house every week is so sad to think about. Im really glad i found this anime, when honda reflected on her life how happy she was during that time and how sad she is now - i instantly reflected on that with me and this show. Ive never cried during an entire episode before especially not for two different reasons, being happy for them that they are all finally happy together and being sad that everything comes to an end now. I dont know if my sentences make any sense since im writing them while tears are running down my face but i hope they will. 10/10 Anime

*SPOILERS* Let me start by saying Fruits Basket is in my top 10 of favorite anime ever, so no I'm not here to get the score down like some people do. The past 2 seasons were so good, enjoying, heart breaking and more, this kind of series don't deserve a rushed and messy final season like this one. I'm actually not surprised people are rating it 10/10 because they're mostly hard fans and riding the last ep high. However this season had so many flaws I almost dropped it. This season don't deserve a #1 spot and not even a #10 spot. Here's why I give S3 the score 5: 1. Everything was so rushed. One of the thing Fruba did right is the slow burn pacing and suddnley in S3 which supposed to be the most important, everything happened so fast, no realistic and messy. Character development was saved for the last 6 episodes when they could buid it over 22 or 24 episodes, story points were missed or saved for the last few episodes. 2. Boring episodes about secondary characters that has 0 impact on the main plot, a waste of an episode. 3. Emotions. Fruba is full of emotions good and bad, they made me cry and get mad in the past seasons. This season lacked emotions, some heartbreaking moments felt hollow and empty, didn't even cry once. Important scences like Kyo and Tohru kiss or the bond breaking were like a no big deal. 4. Akito - the writing of Akito redemption arc was horrible. She had all the right reasons and explantions for a good redemption, but instead she turned into a good and understanding girl in a blink of an eye. Why? because Tohru gave a speech and she was nice to her.. I mean come on. 5. Character development - Kyo and Yuki had good development, so where is Tohru's development? she is the mc and she barley had any character development. Just staying as the super nice and not realistic bland girl that fix everything. Fruna isn't a bad series, it's the best shoujo around, but it's far away from 10.

In my past 3 years of watching anime, yes I know I am an amateur, I have never seen a series that is so emotionally powerful. After watching around 200+ anime in the past year, literally none left me in tears apart from Fruits Basket. The effort put into this adaptation of the manga is absolutely phenomenal. It may seem unfair to compare 3 seasons of Fruits Basket to the original adaptation back in 2001. However the newer adaptation easily surpasses the original in all its elements. This final season finally cuts of all of the loose ends between the relationships of characters and some of the major story arcs that were introduced in season one. The execution of all this was done absolutely brilliantly, i have never seen such good writing for a show. Ill try my best to be spoiler free here but the ending of this show was so emotionally powerful that it left me in tears, it is probably one of the best and most conclusive endings in anime history.

It seems cliche to say it after seeing all the post-finale reviews come in, but I must: Fruits Basket: The Final is flawless and it has changed my life. I began watching the first season of Fruits Basket at the recommendation of a friend at a time when I was unsure of what path to take for my life and career (and I still don’t know). As time went on, I started to empathize with our onigiri girl, Tohru. Tohru’s simple. She’s the simple girl who is thrown into chaos and the complex world of the Sohma family that she never dreamed of. I found comfort in her smile, her ability to stay strong through her troubles and those of her friends, and her humanity which allows her to break when those burdens grow heavy. Fruits Basket is about a cast of characters who are stuck at their crossroads, even prevented from moving past them, and that resounded with me at this stage of my life. Fruits Basket: The Final is the perfect topping to this emotional and heartbreaking journey. This season is all about moving on from those crossroads. It’s about moving towards a happier future that you have the power to choose and the love that is rightfully yours. It’s all wrapped up nicely thanks to its single-cour season rather than the past two-cour seasons. I gave the last two seasons a 9 because the 25-episode runs seemed to affect the pacing of the story, but this season’s limitation erases those pacing problems. Every episode is used to its full potential. From start to end, everything is perfect, and every loose end is tied. The result is the most perfect anime of Spring 2021. The animation is not the best of the best, but it doesn’t need to be. That’s not the point. Remember what I said about simplicity? The characters and the story are what carry this anime. These interactions and dialogues are accompanied by a score that has only gained power as the series has progressed. The combination is the curriculum for a master class in character drama and romance. At that point, the animation is not the point. The direction and heart put into the series already creates a satisfying balance between visuals and the story. Nothing is overdone. To explain what I mean...it’s like an onigiri. It’s the simplest of snacks, but it’s delectable and filled with goodness. You really do need the knowledge of the past seasons if you want to understand why this anime managed to get to #1 on MAL for a moment and why it’s garnering so much acclaim. If you’re questioning if you should give this a try, please go for it. Trust me as much as Tohru would undyingly trust others. This strange story about strange people who transform into animals in a puff of colorful smoke taught me so much about life and love. I laughed, struggled, and cried with Tohru and the Zodiac members so much. If this anime could touch my cynical heart, it can touch yours. There is something for everyone here. In fact, watching this probably will make us all better people. Of course, I’m giving it a well-deserved 10/10! Thank you, Fruits Basket, for everything. See you all in 2022 for Kyoko and Katsuya’s spin-off.

I will highly recommend it. Fruits Basket is one of the best shoujo anime. I'm so glad that Fruits Basket got an anime reboot and will cover all the story. I had read the manga for a long time and love every single character in this manga. Every character has their charm and personality where it makes me fall harder to the story. Honestly, I wish all of the characters has their spin-off in the future respectively because they all deserve it. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses in their life despite being from different family backgrounds. The anime is full of a roller-coaster, consists of all elements, happy, sad, terrified, funny. It is one of the wholesome anime recently. This anime taught us so many life lessons, and it is so relatable to us. Friendship, Family, Love. You will go through all these phrases in life. It's okay being weak sometimes and try to lean on others, learn to move on, and stop doubting yourself. Yuki, Kyou, and Tohru show us how they face problems in friendship, family, and love. Self-love is so important. When you start to accept who you are, thus you will be live happily and willing to open your inner space to others. One of the criticism is the animators are skipping some vital scenes. For example, they didn't introduce Kakeru's girlfriend in the anime where didn't show the connection with Tohru. I'm happy that they will be making a spin-off for Tohru's late parent's backstory. Perhaps there is more OVA for covering those skipped parts in the future.

I don't even know where to begin. I absolutely loved the original Fruits Basket anime back in the day. I was so happy when they announced they were remaking it. I had never read the manga so I had no idea how the story was supposed to continue or how it ended. This final season was just so completely beautiful and amazing. I'm so happy that I was finally able to finish the story and that we were given such an incredible anime. The thing that I love most about this show is just the range of emotions that the viewer is exposed to throughout the course of the story. You'll have moments of extreme joy followed by absolute tragedy. The emotional struggle that each character goes through is so relatable. We all experience so much in our lives and there are many times where we'll be torn between doing what we think is right and what we think others want us to do. The everyday battle to not only find your identity but also fighting to accept yourself for who you are while also working towards your goals and figuring out what it is you really want from life. Throughout the past three seasons I have found myself going back to rewatch moments. To relive the emotion. There is something oddly cathartic about it. Kind of weird, I know. I cannot recommend this show enough. The story and the characters are just so compelling. The art style and animation are also top notch. So much care and attention has gone into making this show as amazing as it is. Writing this review is kind of bitter sweet though. I'm glad that this story finally got to be told completely in anime form but, now that it's over, it kind of leaves a hole in your heart. A hole that is going to be difficult to fill. Thankfully I can always go back and rewatch this show over and over again.

Fruits basket has been dear to my heart since I was first in middle school and has been a beloved favorite of mine. I fell in love with the 2000s version and it became the first manga series I started to collect. I was ecstatic that it got a reboot as it has been done amazingly, I really enjoyed how they developed the drama as the 2000s version had much more comedy in it. I am so glad it got a chance to finish its story completely. The characters have grown with me and I loved to have been able to watch them develop. This review is mostly me gushing over my love for Fruits Basket but the series truly is something I think people should give a shot. Its a classic romance/ drama series. Thank you Fruits Basket.

*Spoiler Warning* Keeping this short and simple This anime and especially the season were 10/10 i loved them. The story is great and the way certain characters devolope is amazing. The final season is a lot more sad from the others (if i remember correctly, its been a year since i last saw season 2). The way this season portrayed the story and how it all lined up to the point where the curse breaks is great. Kyous back story really hit hard and is one of those things that'll stay with me for a LONG time. If you haven't already I recommend checking the series out!

This is the best season of the show, but it's still not a masterpiece. It's still a great anime though, definitely a 8/10. Romance was very good, but not peak. Some of the relationships were interesting and compelling. Even a particularly foul and nasty relationship, was interesting to watch. Though some relationships did nothing for me. I could see why they were paired together. The idea was great on paper, but the execution was poor. They just did nothing for me, and I'm not talking about the main ship btw... I'm talking about another ship. Tohru x Kyo were fire. I do love the explorations of generational curses, and how breaking the zodiac curse was more so about breaking the generational curse. If Kyo didn't mature and kept holding grudges, he would've turned out like his father: bitter, isolated, and blaming everyone but himself. Even manifesting that bitterness and isolation to the point of projecting your own guilt onto someone else! The curse of a mother being jealous of her daughter was passed down. So jealous to the point where the mother cuts the hair of her daughter. That part would potentially be triggering for people who are going through that, and it's unfortunately a thing. Mothers being jealous of their daughters and cutting their hair, slut shaming them, wishing for a son instead, viewing them as competition for men, etc. This season gets very heavy with the trauma from parents. It even shows the affects such as becoming exactly like your parent, or breaking the curse and not being able to forgive them. That's another thing I liked about this anime. Sure it did talk about forgiveness, but some characters never forgave their abusive parent, and the show didn't demonize them for it. That's actually refreshing, because a lot of the talk around forgiveness is having the victim forgive their abuser. That's very convenient for the abuser! I like how this show gave that concept the middle finger. If you choose to forgive your abuser, then that's great for you. A path to healing. Though if you choose not to forgive your abuser, then that's also great for you. You're not obligated to forgive anyone! I also liked the themes of relying on people to help you. You don't get better by running from your problems and isolating yourself. You get better by having friends who can help you. You get better by talking with loved one and accepting help from them. That's the ultimate path to healing (along with therapy). If people love you, then they won't see you as a burden. People who love you will carry you, support you, and are even willing to take on your pain! Though I do have some criticisms for this manga. As I said, some of these relationships were trash and did nothing for me. Some relationships are just a flat out no... As in, FBI watchlist no... The guy who cross dressed in women's clothing is "normal" after the curse broke, as in he's back to dressing in clothes for men... That's very insulting for people who cross dress. This is the same thing that I disliked about Oniisama. It's very insulting that being something outside of heteronormative is seen as a phase, or a curse to be broken. That's insulting. It also makes people who don't follow traditional gender roles feel like shit, when their curse isn't broken or when they don't grow up to be "normal". Look... If you don't want to talk about things outside of gender norms or heterosexuality, then that's fine. Just don't introduce it. Kitchen Princess, Peach Girl, Princess Tutu, and Pink don't have any queer themes or romance, and I manage to think they're good regardless. Mostly because they don't talk about those concepts or introduce them! If you're going to go there and introduce those concepts, then don't crap on them. You just look closed-minded. Especially because according to this author, an adult man dating a teenage girl is more acceptable than a guy who cross dresses... Aside from that BS, I'd say it's worth watching.

For the final season, I'll give it a 9 because it closed the story quite nicely and even threw in an extra bit there in the final minutes! Now, onto the technical aspects of the work as a whole: Soundtrack and Audio = 10/10: To me, it was responsible for conveying most of the anime's drama. Sometimes, even if the scene wasn't that heavy, the soundtrack was so good at evoking intense emotions. For me, it was by far the most positive aspect of the anime (Congratulations, Masaru Yokoyama). Art (Character Design and Animation) = 8.6: The character designs and backgrounds were quite beautiful, and the animation remained very consistent from start to finish. However, I felt the lack of some more artistic moments, with beautiful shots that would leave the scene etched in memory, despite having a few. I know other anime that handled this aspect better! Charisma / Character Development = 8.5: Tohru isn't my favorite type of character; she's too benevolent, a kindness that transcends even what I think is possible for a human being. But she works for the story, and the character development of the zodiac members is very good. However, in terms of charisma, only Yuki Sohma really caught my attention from the main trio. While I sympathized more with characters like Isuzu (Rin), I found her to be the most real depiction of a human being within the anime, even though she went through a lot of hardships. Plot/Narrative = 7.8: Regarding the plot, I found the story somewhat dragged in the beginning, very engaging in the middle, and delivered something within my expectations in the end. It didn't exceed expectations, as I was expecting something more elaborate for the story's conclusion. Overall, it delivered what a good anime can deliver in terms of story: being interesting and not ruining the anime with its ending. Although the ending wasn't the most impactful or unforgettable for me, it left a warm feeling in my heart. The story had flaws, especially regarding the final plot of the male protagonist Kyou and his motivations for something important that happens and somewhat governs the whole plot. This could have been explained in a way that didn't feel forced, considering there were other more plausible explanations! Script/Storyboard and Direction = 7.7: This is where I think the work had its weakest point. They spent too many episodes developing some irrelevant characters that I literally couldn't create any bond with. And when it came to the last season, it felt like there wasn't enough time to put everything that was important on screen in 20-minute episodes. Some things from the main plot could have been fixed in the script, considering that in the last season, there are some inconsistencies with what the story itself presented in the beginning that aren't exactly plot holes but lean more towards "oh, come on, that's forced." The direction was good, although I was not very captivated by the romance in the work, which is my personal opinion. What captivated me the most were the dramas of some secondary characters, making me less interested in who the central characters would end up with in the end! Do I recommend this anime? Without a doubt, it's definitely worth taking a look at it for those who haven't seen it yet!

This review will sum up my thoughts from the first season to the very final, pretty much my overall thoughts on Fruits Basket. Fruits Basket is an anime that I initially find very odd during the first few episodes, like seriously a drama show about zodiac animals that sounds extremely silly. But I still continued and watched with an open mind. To my surprise this show is so much more than just zodiac animals; It is a story about bonds and connections, what it means to be human, existentialism, self-acceptance, Exploration of ones identity and so much more that are tackled in this series. [characters 10/10] This is I believe Fruits Basket’s strongest aspect, it is their cast of characters. Every single character has their own unique personalities and traits. Fruits Basket is really good in presenting it's characters; They flesh out each and every character by giving them their own interesting character arcs with well written internal conflicts. It makes them much more memorable and makes me personally care about them more. Especially the main characters. - Kyo: My personal favorite character in this series is most definitely Kyo. Not only does he have the most fun personality out of the cast but the way he interacts with the characters in the series are always super interesting. But what makes me love Kyo the most is because of how much he's grown, you could see the constant changes in him with each passing episode. Especially ever since he had Tohru in his life; how much he's moved on from his traumatic past, how much softer and kinder he's grown, and the maturity that we see in him. - Yuki: I honestly didn't liked Yuki much at first. I just find him extremely uninteresting at first, he seemed like one of those generic hot handsome prince anime guys that gets all the girls in those romcoms and he seemed very bland. I was pleasantly wrong as I kept watching this series because he's actually far from that; He is flawed, weak, selfish and sometimes miserable. Especially after learning about his past my view of him has drastically changed. He quickly became one of my favorite characters in the series. - Tohru: The character that I believe nobody could ever hate. Honda Tohru just has every single likeable trait; She's kind, caring, optimistic. cheerful, and a little bit silly. There is nothing to dislike about her character, but she's not just some basic cheerful nice anime girl because she's actually quite a well written character. Her character goes deep into the theme of personal growth and acceptance, seeing her development and role throughout the series was amazing, truly one of the best characters of the series. [music 8/10] Now don't get me wrong I do think the OST and background music has always been amazing, and also helps elevate the scenes by making it more emotional/powerful. But the openings are a hit or miss for me, especially I am the type of person who don't really skip anime openings so a bad opening could really effect my experience. The only openings that I liked were the first opening of season 1 and the second opening of season 2. [art/animation 7.5/10] Yeah I like it. It's simple and nice, definitely a huge improvement from the previous 2001 installment because I personally hated how the characters looked there. Though it's an improvement from the previous series it is still nothing too special. It's not bad nor great, just good. [story 9/10] I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across a romance series that has a story as great as fruits basket. This story has a balanced mix of drama, slice of life, romance and comedy. You'll never get bored of this series, it always have something interesting going. I don't wanna delve to deep into the story to avoid spoiling but I was amazed by how this series could turn such a simple plot premise to a really grand story. [overall 9.5/10] I love Fruits Basket, it's already one of my favorite animes of all time. This series just has it all; Amazing cast, a wonderful story, great character dynamics/interactions, exciting drama and so much more. It is a series that I could safely recommend to anyone and be sure that they would enjoy it.
