Chainsaw Man is such an enjoyable show and it's definitely a must-watch, even if you don't love Anime. It's hard to pinpoint why I love it so much, without spoilers, since its' vibe, and style is extremely similar to 2020's Jujutsu Kaisen, a show I unfortunately didn't enjoy and couldn't even be bothered to finish the last 3 episodes of. Chainsaw Man is definitely a show you should watch when you are tired of trying to find shows that give you something new and refreshing, regardless if you love Anime or not. What does Chainsaw Man do that is so refreshing, you might ask? Well, let's look at something like Hunter X Hunter or hell, Demon Slayer, Naruto, One Piece etc... shonens in general. They all try to breakdown the boundaries of what makes a shonen enjoyable. But Chainsaw Man, as it is also a shonen, doesn't breakdown these boundaries... it literally BREAKS them. It goes by its' own rules and it becomes a parody of typical Shonens we all love and have fond memories of. But it still manages to grab the audience's expectations by the throat, slap them, spit on them and make them enjoy it... *clears throat* kind of a kinky example, pardon me, but that is something that I think will surely prepare you for what the Chainsaw Man has to offer. Watch it, right now. you'll love it to bits, just remember to not get your expectations too high, since that can ruin any anime, really.

Chainsaw Man is a show about a guy that turns into a monster and is forced to kill other monsters or be put to death, accompanied with a quiet, reasonable guy and a girl who shares the same wild energy as the MC. With how many similarities this synopsis is to Jujutsu Kaisen, I wouldn't be suprised if the author copy the basics of it, made a new power system, and made it even edgier to appeal to people that way. However, I would argue this show is harder to get into when about half the cast is somewhat unlikable and seems to suffer from some pacing issues. Denji is a poor boy from a poor family who only really wants food and seggs; and it's honestly a weak premise for a main character. From a storytelling perspective, it's hard to root for someone with someone with such a vapid motivation. Power only serves herself, which actually is in character for her as a demon and is surprisingly the most likable character so far. Aki is more likable as the show goes on, but his personality seems basic, and along with him being mostly unexpressive, it makes it hard to be empathic with him. Makima feels like she will be a twist villain in the future, either betraying Denji after killing the Gun Devil or turning against the Public Safety division in general. She seems to hide her true personality and only acts nice to wrap people around her finger to use for her benefit. The action in the show tends to be fairly good when it happens, but it tends to be few and far in between the long sections of drama/exposition. It gives you enough action at the start to trick you into continuing after the '3 episode rule', but the middle of the season drags on for infinity. The CG isn't bad to watch either, but it's not preferred more than dynamic shots created by smear frames. It's also a little strange how the show has CG at all, given they went all out on the show in other ways, like how every ED is a different song and animation for each episode. It just feels like the attention to the most detail was in the least important part of any show, the credit reel. Overall, I can't understand why this was hyped up to be the anime of the season when it feels rather average; maybe people think blood and despair makes a show 10/10? The premise is interesting but the show itself... not so much; 6/10. Hopefully season 2 is better if I keep watching in the future.

Chainsaw Man was with no doubt the most hyped up anime of this entire year, and I can see why. Not only is it a battle shonen, but it also features a very intriguing cast of characters, and one of the more unique protagonists out there. With its popularity, it’d be near impossible to meet the anime community’s expectations, and from what I’ve heard from people, some love it, and some are just okay with it. As for me, an anime-only for this show, it met my expectations for the most part, as a solid, entertaining show, with some good production and music to boot. STORY: It’s quite difficult to explain what Chainsaw Man is, because it’s quite chaotic, but the synopsis does a good job of explaining the beginning. What I liked from the premise was how Denji started from rock bottom, but not in your typical shonen fashion where their family or loved ones die, and then a revenge story ensues. Denji’s dreams are simple, it’s not to defeat devils or anything, but just to get a girlfriend and cop a feel in process, probably relatable to some extent to some people out there. The story isn’t really anything special, but it works better than your “demon of the week” type of story. While it does have that sort of feeling sometimes, you get a feel for some of the characters too, it’s not just fighting all the time. There’s some slice of life mixed in, as well as some… let’s say… intriguing comedy. Fujimoto always knows how to make an intriguing plot after all. ART: The animation is generally good, as the production was good throughout. I know some of you might have wanted two consecutive cours (24-26 episodes) for this show, but I guarantee you, it would have looked way worse if that was the case. MAPPA was still likely on an extremely tight schedule, and their employees must have gone through hell and back, but the product we got was still good for the most part. The background shots gave us more of a cinematic approach, which looks great, but doesn’t necessarily fit the grittiness of the manga. The action sequences looked good most of the time, with some janky CGI some of the time, which is to be expected given the production timeline. MUSIC: They went all out with the music, and Kensuke Ushio did a great job with the soundtrack, capturing the dark atmosphere well. The opening was good, but those endings were definitely the highlight of the entire show. As for my favourite endings, I’d say ED 5 (“In the Back Room” by Syudou), and ED 7 (“Chu, Tayosei” by Ano), were my favourites. Very different genres of music at play here, and I appreciated them a lot. CHARACTERS: The cast was quite unique to watch for sure, and that’s what makes this show stand out from other shonens. Denji is your relatable teenage guy, and makes quite the comedic moments, along with Power, a loud and extremely funny character. Denji and Power’s interactions were absolutely hilarious. Aki and Himeno were another good duo, and made for some of the more darker and emotional moments in the season. Kobeni was to some people, probably a little annoying, but for me, she’s a fine character, adorable too, and she acts just like if a random passersby were to be thrown in a situation like the devil hunters face every day. Makima is quite the mysterious character, and it seems like she’ll be developed further in the future. ENJOYMENT: I generally enjoyed most of the episodes, and had some laughs along the way, sometimes even got a little emotional too. THEMATIC EXECUTION: The themes were executed quite well, with Denji’s theme of just enjoying life being pretty relatable. The atmosphere was quite unique too, and the comedic and dark aspects were balanced well, with the tonal shifts not being much of an issue. OVERALL: I wouldn’t say this was the best anime this season, but it was definitely a very entertaining one. It felt quite unique for a shonen, and I enjoyed Chainsaw Man more than some other shonens for sure. The music stood out the most to me, especially the endings, which I still listen to a lot. Overall, a fun experience for sure, and one that most anime fans will enjoy to some extent.

What if you took Chainsaw Man, and decided to take some of the Manga's influences, *particularly Reservoir Dogs* and just make that. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be impressed by an anime that's just stylistically copying an independent American movie from the 90's. Just like Tarantino's first film it has a cheap & amateurish feel to its shot composition and lighting. The framing is basic and scenes and shots tend to linger long after their point has landed. If it had been a live action student film, it would've been a little impressive, but in animation it comes across as very limiting, ignoring the freedom of animation in an attempt to emulate a very basic style of live action film making. Props to the director, maybe he can try again after he's finished his second year of film school. But hey, it's still Chainsaw Man, so it's alright.

Widely praised, even before its release, as a revolutionary achievement for the medium, or for art in general, 'Chainsaw Man' is a dark subversion of the superhero genre, like an R-rated 'X-Men'. It's well animated, fairly stylish, sometimes funny, and gruesome enough for teenage boys. Unfortunately, as a standalone story, it lacks direction and depth. By the end, I wanted to shower off the bloody slime and curl up with 'Bocchi' instead. You can get a lot done in twelve episodes if you pick one thing and focus on it, whether that's a character or a theme. In 'Chainsaw Man', a lot of things happen, often violently, but not in great detail or depth. It wanted to deliver a series of shocking moments, and the plot had to be stretched pretty thin to cover them all. I guess you can patch it up with flashbacks, but the end result lacks the polish and precision of, say, 'Akiba Maid War'. Typically, to deliver a shocking moment, you put a normal person in an extreme situation. There are essentially no normal people in 'Chainsaw Man': innocent bystanders barely exist; ordinary emotions barely register. It can be intense, but without that normal baseline, it's difficult to know how to feel about strange anti-heroes fighting equally strange villains. It's certainly dark: darkness takes centre stage, in Hot Topic eyeliner. Characters obsess over death and revenge; get drunk or go insane; kill brutally and die horribly. Again, it can be intense — more so if we knew them better, but that takes time and restraint. You can't ask me to care about someone you've already blown up, no matter how big the explosion. Flashbacks are not actually a substitute for proper pacing and structure. If you want to introduce a major threat, consider foreshadowing it. Change the source material if you have to: there's no law against it. Imagine if, say, the work relationship between Aki and Himeno developed in parallel with Denji's origin story; it might highlight the difference in the characters' motivations. The first eight episodes could have been stretched to a full twelve, with a little extra world-building along the way: it was really at its best in the mid-season as a monster-of-the-week workplace action romantic comedy. As it is, Himeno, a fine character, is given too little attention; with enough flashbacks, we do learn quite a bit about Aki; Power's comedy is always welcome, and Kobeni's too. Unfortunately, the protagonist is Denji, a shiftless idiot defined by his lack of both depth and agency. Denji works fine as a joke; as the show's main character, he fails to drive the story forward. All art is dedicated to joy, said Schiller, who invented dark, and I wish there were more joy in 'Chainsaw Man'. Is a beach episode too much to ask for? What I mean is, I've seen joyless, nihilistic subversions of the superhero genre, and other genres, many times. I know you can kill people with a chainsaw. Maybe next season we'll find out why that matters.

It was definitely a great adaptation. But something didn't sit right with me. I loved the manga from start to finish. But here I was cringing half the time, especially the first 4 to 5 episodes before things got actually serious. It shows that good animation does not really equal to good adaptation. Background music was ass, tbh. On the other hand tho, I found lots and lots of great music cuz of the different endings in each episode (absolutely loved the concept) But it just felt off. Like Itto's works, maybe you just can't translate Tatsuki Fujimoto's art into animation. But I hope they improve on this. The sales barely matched what they were anticipating because of how overhyped it was. But it's not that I was overhyped, that this adaptation didn't click with me. It really was very mediocre at best. The animation is a 10/10, fr. But everything else (putting aside music), a solid 6/10.

This is a story about a broke guy who, after being saved by his pet demon and gaining his powers, wants to touch boobs. The End. P.S. His superpower - his head and arms turn into chainsaws If you've never touched boobs and are obsessed with them, you'll probably like it. Gave it a 2 because the drawing is not bad. This is all I would like to write but I can't post because for some reason it keeps telling me "this review needs more information" which is impossible to write because there's nothing worth writing about lol The story is not unique, it's bad. I really enjoy shounen anime, but this is an insult to shounen if you compare it to Bleach, Naruto, Dragon Ball/Z/Super which I'm pretty sure the target audience was.

I have purposely put of watching this ever since it came out. Coming from reading Chainsaw Man then hearing an anime announcement from MAPPA, I'm sure everyone was nervous because MAPPA wasn't really hailed as a great studio back then, but i think people just didn't like a new studio taking over AoT. The Chainsaw Man anime then released and many people sung praises. For some reason it made me more scared to watch it, so I've put off a couple years on checking it out. I thought that if I watched it, it would be that good that I won't be able to enjoy other anime for a while. I was right. The chainsaw man manga felt a bit overwhelming and was hard to keep track of everything that was happening. Now that it's animated being brought into the world has never been better. MAPPA has really outdid themselves in every way with visuals, storytelling, sounds, music and animation. Sounds in scenes that enhance the experience creating extra tension along with high quality animations and visuals to fully immerse yourself. Ryū Nakayama (director) has a very clear passion for cinematography and his passion shines through in just about every frame. I never thought that I would say this but Chainsaw Man fans ARE and WILL be eating good for a while.

Where to begin? Chainsaw man. All my friends loved this series, and constantly told me to watch it. I also turned it down, as this show seemed to pervy for me. Then the show got tons of hype online. Recently, I finally got around to watching it. I was so hyped up for this series. Annnnnndddddd: It was actually pretty boring. I know thats a hot take, but I personally had no enjoyment with this series at all. I found the characters (Other then maybe Aki) to be a bunch of emotionless pervs. But that's not my main problem with this series: it's just so boring. The finale felt so rushed and random, every arc just felt like random stuff was happening and I had to force myself to watch every episode. I'll give this series a second try once season 2 comes out, but overall: I didnt like it.

Woof. So we’re going ignore the strange “people” in the community who vomit up lines such as “Chainsaw Man is overrated” or whatever helps them justify their hatred towards a very popular mainstream thing they’ve never read, watched or if they have watched the anime, lack the media literacy skills to understand what they’re watching, as well as the people who can’t tell the difference between digital and hand-drawn animation yet complain about it on Twitter, and that toxic sub-sect (emphasis on sub) of Chainsaw Man fans who feel so entitled they’d start a petition to try and get the anime remade. We’re not focusing on any of this and quite frankly you shouldn’t either because whether it’s the manga or the anime, there is nothing quite like Chainsaw Man. Chainsaw Man is, however, not a traditional 12-episode anime. It’s a 4-hour movie with musical breaks every 20 minutes in the form of EDs. I don’t know how else to describe it. On the surface, it’s a story about a weird, gross guy who pulls a rip chord on his chest, grows chainsaws from his arms and head, and kills devil monstrosities by shredding them into bloody meat chunks with the help of his friends, serious simp and Eric Cartman with padded boobs. In reality, it's a psychological horror, Shonen battle, work-life comedy, apocalyptic action anime with layers upon layers of endless, show-don’t-tell storytelling nuance that the anime hasn’t even scratched the surface of in its first season alone. Starvation, homelessness, debt-slavery, poverty, survivors guilt, gun violence, terrorism, global power struggles, the pain that comes from being kicked in the balls, capitalism, the price of vengeance, what it means to be human, the anxiety you get when you think you may never touch a pair of titties before you die, any theme, no subject matter is off limits to Chainsaw Man’s narrative and it’s all woven together in beautiful gore and misery, and expressed through a genuinely creative fear-based power system. It's clear just from watching that the team at Mappa not only loves Chainsaw Man but understands the source material and its movie influences. I rarely go into OP’s and ED’s in my reviews, but Jesus Christ, the amount of effort and attention to detail the team put into them, cramming references from famous movies and references to manga spoilers which anime-only viewers would never catch on to, is awe-inspiring. That’s in the OP alone. Every episode has a different ED accompanied by a different track by a diverse list of artists and genres. It’s insane. I’ve never seen so much effort and talent poured into one season of an anime before. And the actual show? As I said, it’s more like a movie than a season of anime. I love the way the anime emulates camera angle work and editing styles of movies greats. There's a lot of Sam Raimi influence which I appreciate, but what gets me is how fluid the art and animation are. There is rarely ever a moment where something isn’t moving on the screen in a convincingly weighty way. Shadows are complex and move realistically, devils look grotesque like they’re straight out of an old B horror movie that used practical effects. There are scenes of characters just eating breakfast, putting on clothes, or stumbling into their apartments drunk off their tits where the animators just flex for no reason and they’re always jaw-dropping to watch. The biggest “controversy” of course is the 3D-CG and digital animation leveraged to make the adaptation work, but this is Mappa we’re talking about. Their 3D department has been getting better and better if you’ve been keeping up with their projects, and Chainsaw Man feels like the current result of their accumulated experiences. The way the 3D is composited and blended into scenes so seemly that it’s sometimes hard to tell the difference between hand-drawn and digital animation. The evidence is, everyone on Twitter complains about it. Honestly, the 3D is so good that if you’re one of those people who refuses to watch the show or think it’s bad because of it, you kinda look like a bratty dickhead. The only downside I can see to this adaptation is that it’s only adapted one-third of the story (part 1). If you’re an anime-only watcher, I can understand why you wouldn’t understand the generational genius that is Chainsaw Man because you’ve only experienced a part of it. With the second season (and best girl) teased at the end yet still unconfirmed as of the time of writing, unless you read the manga (WHICH YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD FROM THE BEGINNING BY THE WAY) you may never become an enlightened one. The manga of Chainsaw Man is a work that transcends genius. I’m not joking when I say that. I don't believe in talent as a concept, I believe that anyone can do anything if they put in the time and effort to hone their skills instead of for example, using an a.i that steals from other artists, but I am genuinely sad that I lack the talent and mind of Tatsuki Fujimoto when it comes to creating horror both physical and existential, and stories that both see you in an unnerving way, yet are surprisingly funny and wholesome. The anime adaptation manages to chapter these things marvellously, and I hope the team at Mappa haven't been grounded down into a fine paste from production schedules so we can get a second season. 10/10 Practically Perfect.

A decent show marred by its fanbase. I swear if I see one more Makima-stan post about how they want to motorboat their face on her bare chest, I'll commit sudoku all over the morning newspaper. The plotline works well enough but the main character is about as bland as they come. The 3D animation has come a long way in the last few years, but it still has a ways to go before I'd consider it on-par with traditional 2D animation. Still, the animators put some serious work into it and there's been plenty of trash 2D shows recently that make my power point presentations look like sakuga. Your mileage may vary, but if you do watch this please avoid getting infested with Makima simp energy.

Chainsaw man part I specifically is one of the greatest shonen ever created its on surface is just a 'shonen berserk' and is not overhyped at all A)Premise-In a world where Devils are born from human fears ,Chainsaw man follows Denji, a destitute young manDenji merges with his pet devil, Pochita, to become the Chainsaw Man, a hybrid human-devils who is then forced to work for a government agency to hunt down and exterminate other devils This world is set in the world where devils exist and chainsaw man gives accurate representation of world full of devils, characters their personal trauma makes story so much better. A (II)Power system-Devil Hunters, can use the power of devils. A human makes a deal with a Devil to gain its power for a specific purpose, Devil always demands something in return. This payment, or "curse," must be equal to or greater than the power being asked for.Payments can range from a physical offering (a liter of blood, an arm, an eye) to a more conceptual sacrifice (a year of the human's lifespan, a happy memory, or a finger from every citizen of a country). B)Story-Story of chainsaw man is so peak especially second half its absolute cinema the story never gets bored its keep going and keep going but never makes you feel burned out Everything fits together very well. And the way that story just keeps on going...when will we get a break? Near perfect pacing. C)Characters- 1) Denji - Main character with simple dreams (like touching a boob or eating jam toast) I know you think he is piece of shit yes he was one of the worst character for me also but he is suited very well for story though I still hate him 2)power -Power is a bombastic, selfish, and lying fiend (a devil inhabiting a human corpse), she’s chaotic, hilarious, and utterly unreliable, yet her gradual and awkward development of a genuine friendship with Denji forms some of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking moments in the story. 3)Aki-Aki Hayakawa is the perfect straight man to the chaos. He's stoic, professional, and driven by a burning desire for revenge against the Gun Devil. His dynamic with Denji and Power, evolving from reluctant co-workers to something resembling a dysfunctional family, is the emotional anchor of the first part of the story. 4)makima -a master manipulator whose calm demeanor masks terrifying power and a god-complex rooted in existential loneliness, Her genius lies in her ability to weaponize love and loyalty, turning devotion into a cage for those around her.she views human connection not as an end, but as a tool to achieve her twisted vision of an ideal world. Her chilling presence elevates every scene, making her a figure who is both horrifying and tragically fascinating D)Villains-The villains though are cool but don't have clear objective goals like pain, meruem which explores the flaws of world there are few that stands out though 1)Reze (The Bomb Devil): A tragic figure. She is sent to kill Denji but genuinely falls in love with him. Her villainy stems from her conditioning as a weapon, not from malice. She represents the fear of love and betrayal—the tension of not knowing if affection is real or a trap 2)Katana Man: A classic revenge-driven antagonist. He is a hybrid like Denji, seeking vengeance for his grandfather's death. He is a dark mirror to Denji, showing what Denji could become if consumed by a simple, primal emotion like revenge. E)The Constant Threat of Permanent Death In most shonen, main characters have thick plot armor. In Chainsaw Man, this armor is made of paper. The story establishes early on that beloved characters can and will die, often suddenly and without a heroic sacrifice. This creates a "anyone can die" mentality. When a fight starts, you're not wondering how the hero will win; you're genuinely worried about who won't survive.Injuries are permanent. Death is the end. This lack of safety net means every battle, even against a seemingly weak devil, carries the weight of potential tragedy F)Action-Fight scenes are pretty good I personally prefer csm horror action than jjk some fights but still the fights are written pretty good.Chainsaw Man is, at its core, a horror series, and the action is the primary vehicle for that horror. The violence is not sanitized or glamorized; it is grotesque and excessive.Action in Chainsaw Man is not a celebration of power; it is a chaotic, brutal, and emotionally devastating exploration of its characters' humanity—or lack thereof. G)The problems with chainsaw man that keeps it from becoming the greatest shonen i)The World is Minimalist by Design-The world is built on a single, elegant rule: Fear creates Devils. That’s it. That one rule does all the heavy lifting. Most lore is conveyed through visual horror rather than explanation. ii)The Supporting Cast Gets "Wasted''The Hybrids: The sudden assault by the Weapon Hybrids (Katana Man, Reze, Quanxi, etc.) near the end of Part 1 is exciting, but it feels rushed. These powerful characters are unleashed, fight briefly, and are immediately turned into puppets. Their potential for complex interaction is traded for a quick action sequence. iii)Underdeveloped Arcs: Characters and settings are introduced, serve their purpose, and are killed off before the reader has time to fully process them. The bomb attack on the train, the battle in Hell, and the introduction of multiple Hybrids happen so fast it can cause "plot whiplash." iv)international assassins arcs underdeveloped characters-quaxi and her four fiend and american devil hunters who are literal don't get much development to be assumed arc needed to get stretch out a little bit so that darkness devil seen will be more impactful These are not problems to say but if you prefer that dont watch chainsaw man H)RANKING OF ARCS 1)Introduction/bat devil /eternity-6(setup arc) 2)Katana Man Arc 8(fun starts) 3)Bomb girl- 8 4)International Assassins Arc 9(best arc for me hot take) 5)Gun Devil 9 6)control devil 9 I)Things you need to understand - The chainsaw man is story from aesop fable about 'country mouse and town mouse' author not only reference it but uses it to develop the story.Author rejects the fable's moral that a simple, safe life is superior to a lavish, dangerous one . In Chainsaw Man, safety is an illusion, luxury is a tool of control, and violence is an inescapable force that erases peace , The story highlights that the simple, precious moments matter precisely because they are doomed and fleeting and they can be everything in one's life. A world full of devils TLDR: CSM is an anime with thought-out and interesting world building with an intriguing plot that gets absolutely steamrolled by the amount of sexual content that occurs with Denji throughout the show. CSM has an interesting plot in which the author changes real world events to fit devils in, and its woven extremely well to were it seems realistic. the world building around devils and the contracts devil hunters make between them is interesting, and the relationships between the devils and society is complex. Frankly, the manga should be read alongside the anime, because certain parts of the show that felt like there was holes or were confusing might be contained in there in terms of negatives, CSM is overly sexual, to the point where it is uncomfortable to watch. Denji is 16 at the beginning of the show, and the amount of suggestive/sexual content around him gets quite annoying. Some people might be okay with this, but it was a hard watch and it watered down the show. Not to mention that some of this suggestive content occurs with adults, which rings red flags. Overall, this show is extremely interesting, and it would be much more enjoyable if there wasn't the need to have suggestive/sexual content in a good amount of the episodes.

(Hood Review) This anime was good AF to me. I recommend this anime to anybody that’s into a lot of action and a good storyline. This is definitely a mature anime and once you watch it, you’ll see what I’m saying, even as A grown man this anime felt good to watch It isn’t too kiddish, I honestly wish we had more anime like this, The anime is pretty much about slaying devils which is like demons in demon slayer or the evil spirits in bleach just like your typical Enemies in other anime, There is a group of good guys and then there are devils that they go kill, and the main character has a power that a lot of people haven’t seen before so it gives you Chills every time he uses it, The anime only has 12 episodes, but it felt really fulfilling And I fell in love with the characters as soon as episode six, give this anime a try !!

If you think the protagonist is lewd, low, uneducated… you are absolutely right. However, if that’s the reason you are disappointed at the series, you would miss what the author wants to convey. When your goal is to be a scientist, cure cancer, find antimatter, or address key philosophical issues, and find the meaning of your existence, the protagonist’s goal is to live a normal life. The tragedy is … even this goal seems unreachable to him. If you had thought about it, if you were living in that situation, with no parents, no money, no education, would you still have been able to achieve what you have achieved, and dream what you are dreaming. Admittedly, the human society seemingly present striking inequality among individuals. Naturally, some appear noble while some despicable. Having needs, however, whether basic or transcendental, is a universal human condition. Imagining a person that never experienced love or happiness, there could be two possible outcomes: either he would become incapable of love or being happy, or he desires to be so. The former is the depressed giving up attitude, the latter the opposite. Both are unfortunate, understandable, and sympathetic. Both are manifested in the protagonist’s struggle. The story thus becomes his journey to discover what it means to love, to be happy, in a pursuit to love and happiness. In this sense, the author’s message is existentialist. To live, to experience, to find out the meaning during this process, that is what gives our individual life meaning. When a person gets terminal cancer, he then realizes that living one more day would mean happiness to him, that normal everyday happiness is something so trivial that he had overlooked his entire life yet values to him the most at that point. Our protagonist, on the other hand, realizes this from the very beginning. To him, eating delicious food is luxury. Having a girlfriend that he can cuddle and play video games with would feel so good. He appreciates every opportunity to achieve those things, and keeps on hoping to achieve them. In this sense, he stays optimistic despite the depressing situations. Whether intentionally or not, he remained oblivious to the despair of this world and remained hope throughout the series. That is humanity in the highest form. Be grateful to what life has given you. That’s what the series taught me.

This anime is a very popular anime but it didn’t have me in the first episode. Honestly, I would have quit in the first episode because I thought it was unnecessarily gory for my enjoyment. Now don’t get me wrong, almost all of these action anime’s have blood and violence, but when I tell you this first episode was beating a dead horse on the gore, it made sure you had not doubt in your mind. Show has good potential and is definitely interesting, but I wouldn’t say its my cup of tea, but I guess to each their own. I would also say I was surprised when there was this one juicy romance moment that had us all sweating for a second.

I love Cyberpunk 2077, its a great story about a young boy who has lost a loved one,as a result he receives a weird body modification that he can use to fight. And his new powers capture the attention of a beautiful woman who works with a group of misfits from a seedy organization but little does the main character realize that people are after his strange power for some reason. Oops did I say Cyberpunk 2077? I meant CSM i just mistyped. STORY I just need to say this. If the author of this anime is reading this. Good job, buddy. The writing is pretty solid. Lore wise, it does take elements from other anime, but puts its own twist on it. Instead of demons its devils, and the whole making a contract with the devil motif is here as well.It has many intense crazy moments offset by peaceful and docile moments with sprinkles of comedy to spice things up.It reminds me of FMA and Black Clover in a way. Its like the law of exchange 2.0. Also, I didn't know it, but this anime is actually a period piece taking place before the 2000s I believe, I guess the modern look made CSM look current time, but when you pay attention to the scenery and technology, you can see that it is older looking. The world of CSM gives this very icy and sterile view on city life, and it contrasts really well with the other elements like the devils. And speaking of actual events in the show, CSM does not give you time to breathe, you're either holding your breath for the very sensitive moments or gasping at the intense action. And it has that perfect amount of progression that justifies its 12 episode runtime, unlike other shounen that take at least 20 episodes just to even get its story going. I swear, there are many scenes in Chainsaw Man that will be burned in my mind for a long time.Even ignoring the shocking ones, there are just really hair raising fight scenes that use a combination of things like animation, music, direction, and sound mixing that makes everything feel demented.Instead of hype, I felt fear, instead of adrenaline rushes I got rushes of anxiety.I swear this anime is one of the closes experiences I have had to seeing what the hell actually looks like, and its not as cool as thought it was, Its horrifying. This anime is just nightmare fuel in general to be honest. ANIMATION(addressing the controversy) This part is gonna be me addressing the criticism, because a lot of things I liked about this anime are things that others have been vocal about disliking. So if you have these opinions, just know you're opinion is wrong and mine is factual lol.jk “The art style is way too clean and does not fit the tone of the manga” This is the most prelavent criticism, and one that I cannot wrap my head around, i guess they favor a more wild and rough artstyle but I am fine with the style they are going for. Its hard to put into words but bear with me. Lets look at another anime , Dorohedoro. The art style for that anime is extremely grimy, gritty, and gross cacophony ,but it fits the show. Dorohedoro is not a thought provoking show, its just chaotic absurdity in its pure form. But CSM has more to it. On the surface, it may be all Battles,Boobs, and Blood, but on the inside handles intense poignant themes and important character dynamics, and those things are handled with the right amount of sensitivity and maturity. the visuals make the themes resonate more. And even if the anime were to be more loyal to the art style. I basically don’t see any other way it would go about doing that. No shade, but I’ve been in this community long enough to know that the anime community is never satisfied. If Trigger did it, people would complain that it looks too cartoonish, if Yuasa did it people would complain that it looks too experimental for a shounen. I could see the staff behind Kizumonogatari doing it, but could you even imagine Shaft deciding to animate a shounen jump anime? Thats like getting Ari Aster to direct a Pixar Movie, sounds wonderful but highly implausible. MAPPA showed with Dorohedoro that they could make a grittier style, but they didn’t because that's not their intention, you can tell their intention through the movie references in the op. They’re trying to make the world of CSM a theatrical spectacle with homages to horror films. And I think they did a great job of that. The great cinematography, and the use of color contrast with the gray cityscape and pops of color coming from the characters and the gore. The ambient lighting in scenes adds to the unsettling factor. This anime does an amazing job of juggling all of these tonally different scenes while still being cohesive. MAPPA could've decided to just merge all these episodes into a film and put it in theaters, and I wouldn't know the difference. “The 3D sucks” I thought we were past the whole “3d in anime=bad animation” phase after Attack on Titan s4p1,but no.i said it once and will say it again. if you think this is bad cgi, you have not seen bad cgi. The only problem i do have is how ambitious they are with the 3d in fight scenes, the only time it looks jarring is when the characters are standing around talking full in 3d.Buuuuuuuuuut, i will mention the 3d in this anime is honestly a remarkable achievement in animation. Its combination of both 2d and 3d has never harmonized so well. CSM animation is like making passionate sex, there is a twinge of pain occasionally but the rest of it is pure ecstasy.Oh, i almost forgot about the use of texture and it makes the animation look so alive. The scratches and the glossiness of Denji’s carburetor box,the fleshiness of the organs, its wild. I'm not gonna say that the 3d in this anime is perfect all the time, it looks wonky in spots, but I have seen way worse from mappa in the past. And for people saying the CSM animation is bad because of the cgi use, I gonna piss myself because that's just blatant overlooking of all of the amazing mind-bending 2D animated moments that do more than makeup for the one or two scenes of questionable 3D.Probably the most impressive feat of animation I have seen in 2022 was seeing The Eternity Devil for the first time. How in the hell is it even possible to animate something like that in full 2D.CSM loves to take risks and I appreciate it. SOUND Okay Kensuke Ushio is an absolute legend. He gave us the iconic Devilman Crybaby ost, he composed the soundtrack to Boogiepop 2019 and that was the best thing about the show.I just like the way he companies electronica and atmosphere. This ost is his most experimental, some parts of the ost sound like he played with kitchen instruments, and other parts literally sound like his audio was corrupted and he just rolled with it. And it still sounds good. It sounds like something 100 geccs or death dynamic shroud would make. The opening is indescribable. I can’t say enough great things about it. It fits the anime to a goddamn T. Even in the song, Kenshi Yourezu sounds like a chainsmoker, and his raspy voice really compliments the chainsaw motif. There is the sick ass bass in the background, the dark and weird lyrics, the descending notes, and a catchy chorus. This song feels like you are on a party elevator thats plummeting into hell. And the visuals as well, I appreciate how the op incorporates just about everything that makes CSM so devilishly fun. The characters arent super serious or walking around, they are having a fun time at the bowling alley, the beach, and so much more. And as for the endings. ALL 12 of them, each of them are really well created and each of them do a good job of echoing the tone of the episode and gives you something to think about before you tune in next week. But who cares, you probably want a definitive ranking. So 2>6>11>7>1>12>5>4>9>10>8>3. And #3 was one of my favorite endings of the year.I don't even wanna comment on the dub, its almost perfect in a way. Literally, look up all the dub memes to see what I mean. CHARACTERS The characters in chainsaw man happen to be way more layered than I ex…

WORTH THE HYPE I’ve been a fan of the chainsaw man manga forever. It’s always had an extremely unique feel, with a unique sense of humour and a fast paced plot that’s consistently entertaining. Because of this, when I saw the previews for the anime, I thought it wouldn’t live up to the manga. Yes the animation looked good, but I couldn’t see how anything could top the unique feel the manga captures. However, I was proven wrong. The chainsaw man anime takes every good and shocking moment from the manga and amplifies it by 10. The voice acting is phenomenal and adds an entire level of personality to the characters, and the animation is something else entirely. It’s not just good in the sense that the movements and action are all really smooth, chainsaw man’s animation does a incredible job at making every scene in the manga live up to its feel. For example, in the manga there were many panels that I would flip to and just stare at for 30 seconds. The art, framing, and composition of fujimotos art is insanely good and he knows how to shock the audience with intentionally disturbing imagery. (One example of this would be the panel with the astronauts, but I won’t go into that to avoid spoilers). Every panel like this from the manga was executed amazingly in the anime. The sound effects and animation were so tightly crafted, so many scenes made had me sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding out of my chest. For this to happen even though I’ve already read the manga multiple times and know the plot of this manga like the back of my hand is absolutely genius. Another thing I love about the anime is the extra level of atmosphere and cinematics that it adds. I’ve always loved the manga and thought it was perfect for the manga medium. This was one of the reasons I thought the anime wouldn’t live up to the mangas quality. The anime’s way of coping with this is giving the story of chainsaw man an atmosphere similar to something like a Tarantino movie. The backgrounds are always dull and gritty, a lot of scenes don’t have background music, allowing the viewer to hear what the world around the characters sounds like, and the pacing is slow and atmospheric, except for when it’s not, and you’re watching a guy with chainsaws coming out of his face murder the most disgusting creatures you’ve ever seen. This really adds a layer of atmosphere that was not found in the manga at all, and really gives the anime a unique feel that you truly cannot find anywhere else. This is what makes chainsaw man a 10/10 for me. As a fan of the manga, this is a truly flawless adaptation. The directors did an amazing job at executing the mangas emotional and captivating scenes, and there truly could not have been a better adaptation.

It was available on Hulu, so I was happy to be able to watch this anime series. I enjoyed it a lot, and I really hope they work on Season 2 of Chainsaw Man. The plot seems to be interesting, and how it ended makes me really want Season 2 to be made and released quick. Then again, I don’t want them to create bad animation. MAPPA studios, as usual, did really good with the animation. Would I recommend this anime? Of course. It is funny and entertaining. Some sad elements, which you will see why. Some of the plot may have been predictable for later seasons. The art style is fitting into this story. After all, if it wasn’t gore, it would probably not get a lot of hype from audience. Denji is a great character, including Aki. Again, you will really enjoy this series.
