Set in old japan with many historical characters that really lived around that time, it tells us about the story of a samurai that is trying to atone his past living a new life. The first arc show us the links between the main characters and their past and where specifically is gonna be set the story. Kenshin (main character) is a samurai with a good personality who gets well with everyone but has a tainted past that he is trying to amend by making the right choices in his new life. The adventures of a samurai in his new life, where you can find action, love, drama, terror, comedy and much more if you like long stories of the past. I watched this series many times and it taught me a lot about life, respect, honesty and pride. Rate: 8/10 Thanks for reading.

It is a satisfying journey of love, justice and self-discovery. Rurouni Kenshin is a satisfying journey of love, justice and self-discovery.The basic idea of the plot talks about a sword art-master from the fudal era, named Kenshin, who becomes a wanderer to console the chaos of his past. The anime uses the myth of master Kenshin as a theme as well as metaphor to explore the political and social life in Japan during its early days of independence. Kenshin, the hero of the anime was brave and bravery, most of the time, involves naiveté. Kenshin was naive enough to fall into violence and sacrifice his human-life and take up the loneliness of a samurai. The anime also addresses many social issues of Japan post independence, like the jobless war vets, construction boom, westernization, the growing spiritual inclination of the people and communal tensions. The anime is ably scripted with excellent historical background and ingenious character development. The charm of old school artwork and the fantastic background score makes it masterful. The anime masterfully mixes swordplay with the history and political life of Japan, in this wonderful anime simultaneously bringing up the politics of ecology, family and social existence. Rurouni Kenshin won the hearts of many and is easily one of the best animes of the past century.

I won't get too much into a description of the story, since that is done many times in these reviews. The first two seasons of the anime follow the manga almost exactly, which is seemingly rare. The first season doesn't really have an overall arc to it, but takes it's time with character development. This is a good thing, especially given how deep some of the characters are. It also has a fair amount of humor, and is very entertaining. The second season starts the real story, and quickly picks up the pace. We learn more about Kenshin's past, there are some awesome battles, still great character development. By the end, the viewer is still left wondering about kenshin's past, and there are still plenty of open questions. I thought the third season would finally reveal all-- and I was vastly disappointed. The only reason I don't give Kenshin a 10 is because of the third season. It basically tosses away a lot of the developments and fills the story with fillers and really pointless arcs. The final arc in the manga answered all the remaining questions, had an actual story, and was overall captivating. But for whatever reason the anime ignored all of it. So if I were you, I would only watch the first two seasons, and then read the final arc of the manga. (There are two OVA's that act as a prequel and then a sequel, but these fall short of the manga too. The animation changes in a bad way, the tone is much different, and the sequel changes a lot of Kenshin's character. The first OVA is good, but the manga is better).

Though it may be an old anime it never fails to satisfy me whenever I decide to watch it. For one thing, it's a funny anime with tinges of romance, and for another the tendency for most people to shout out loud when Kenshin's close to death only proves that you focus your mind into it and how you just want to yell "Kick his ass, Kenshin!" when he's fighting with some opponent. When I was a kid, I've always idolized him usinga tennis racket and swinging it as though it was a sword. And my love for long haired anime guys started with him. HOHO!

Well i believe Rurouni Kenshin is one of the most developed animes of all time, along with Code Geass. It has all the characters you need, even the villians are developed fully. The filler couldve been done with out. But its good filler, nithing horid like the Naruto filler. This anime will keep you pumped through all 95 episodes. The art was excellent for its time in the 90's. The sword techniques are all amazing. The story is one of the best, with lots of historic back round. Even the OVA's are outstanding. Along with this, is all the genres of an anime mixed together: Comedy, Romance, Action, Adventure, Historic and Drama.

"Rurouni Kenshin" is a timeless classic that blends historical drama, action, and emotional storytelling with incredible finesse. Set in the Meiji era, it follows Kenshin Himura — a former assassin turned wandering swordsman — as he seeks redemption for his bloody past while protecting those around him. What makes this anime stand out is not just its gripping sword fights, but the moral weight behind every conflict. The story is exceptionally well-written. It's more than just action — it's about forgiveness, identity, and the struggle to change. The arcs are structured in a way that gives time for character growth, quiet moments, and intense showdowns. Each major arc builds naturally and ties back to Kenshin’s internal struggle, making it feel meaningful rather than episodic. The character development is one of the strongest aspects. Kenshin’s transformation from feared assassin to humble protector is layered and believable. Supporting characters like Kaoru, Sano, and Saito all serve important roles, with their own motives and growth. Even the antagonists are well-developed, often embodying the darker paths Kenshin could have taken. The art style is clearly from the '90s, and while it may feel dated compared to modern standards, it has its own nostalgic charm. The fight choreography, though traditionally animated, is fluid and well-staged. The soundtrack complements the tone beautifully, especially in emotional and intense scenes. "Rurouni Kenshin" is more than just an action anime — it’s a story about redemption, peace, and the weight of one’s past. If you can appreciate older animation and storytelling with depth, this is a must-watch. Ratings: Story: 10/10 Art: 7.5/10 (dated but fitting) Character: 10/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

A. Something you need to know before watching the anime: Is really hard to write an objective review about your favorite anime. As much as I love Rurouni Kenshin and it will always be my favorite anime, I have to admit that it is not a perfect anime. However, this wasn't the fault of the characters, or the story or the animation, it is all the fault of the FILLER EPISODES and the studio that decided to not continue the story of the manga, which is the best part of the story in my opinion. The Rurouni Kenshin anime should have been a masterpiece, like the manga actually is, but it was ruined by useless filler episodes. If you have never seen this anime I HIGHLY recommend that you stop watching after the end of the Kyoto Arc and then go and read the manga, if you do that then I am sure you will enjoy the story. B. The Characters Kenshin Himura is the best protagonist of any anime I have ever seen. He is not your typical young shounen protagonist that has a dream that he wants to accomplish, Kenshin is an adult that has lived a very dangerous, tragic and cruel life filled with mistakes that he will never forget, his past will comeback to haunt him, no matter what he does. His past also taught him how he should live his life, you could say that from chapter one his personality is already fully develop. So, what do you with a protgonist that already learn from his mistakes and is so good at almost everything he does? Well, force him to face even more difficult situations that will test If he truly is as good as everyone think he is. There will always be a harder goal to acomplish, a more difficult situation, a stronger opponent, a more bloddy and brutal war. Makoto Shishio is one of the greatest antagonist in anime story, he is smart, fearless and has a very twisted way of seeing life. However, the brilliant twist in his character is that his actions are very justified and if you really think about it, he was kind of right in wanting to do what he did. I could write more that a hundred pagres describing Kenshin and the rest of the characters of this anime. So I will just stop here and let you find out about them yourself. C. Art and Soundtrack The art is no unique at all, it is very common if you compare it with other animes of it's time. But that doesn't mean that it is bad, a more flashy art and animation wouldn't have been the best for the type of anime that Rurouni Kenshin is. It was perfect for the show. The Soundtrack is great, each ost is perfect for each moment. It is not the best soundtrack in anime history but it was good enough for this anime. D. Score I gave it a 8 just because the filler tainted the series. If you only watch until the end of the Kyoto Arc, then the anime is a 10 out of 10 without question, but if you watch it all, then it doesn't deserves the perfect score. However, this is still the anime that I have enjoyed the most, even with it's flaws. If you love animes with a dark, realistic and human story, then I recommed you watch and read Rurouni Kenshin, it is some of the best that anime and manga has to offer.

For the review of rurouni kenshin i need split it in three parts. 1. The first 30 episodes: This episodes are about of the life of Keshin and her friends with stories autoconclusives per episode that have the villain of the day and they must defeat it. The true is that these episodes are entertaiment and they serve to know to the characters while the serie introducing them, like Sanosuke who appears as a villain and ends up joining cast. But some of this episodes are so simple and some are so bored that you can sleep, since they do not contribute in anything. 2. Makoto Shishio´s arc: From the episode 31 until the episode 61(approximately). In this arc a great villains appears. Makoto Shishio, a legendary samurai that fighted in the past where he suffered burns in all her body and now is back to get her revenge and overthrow the government. Kenshin must stop it since it is the only one able to defeat it. The drama is very good but the travel to Kioto is so long that is bored and introducing like 8 villains that only serve to make time. 3. The last 30 episodes do not deserve to be mentioned as they are stuffed, they are very boring and simple.

Been my childhood favourite anime! Nice soundtracks..one of the best soundtrack set. Story: I am pretty sure this is one of the best ronin anime/manga in the otaku industry (honorable mention SDKyo, Vagabond). The storyline developing in such an elegant way, connecting the past to the future. Not much thing I can say, it was really awesome, the romance, the combat, and the sense of what was like being a samurai in japanese feudal. Character have their own strength and strong background, even the villain. Each character have their own road from zero to hero. The episodes is really well balance with enough humour, thrill, romance, pretty much everything you need from a movie/anime series. I did enjoy the it till the last bite. Only one wish I can say for this anime. Please someone do a remake like what HunterXHunter does. I will be ready to die in peace if it does comes true.

Ahhh, how nostalgic. Rurouni Kenshin was one of those shows back in the day that I would be excited to tune into when I got home from school. However, after watching it for the third time, I could definitely critique this anime more closely, nostalgia aside. The story is set in 19th century Japan at the start of the Meiji era, a time of modernization and reform in Japan, where the samurai and the way of the sword has started to become obsolete. Although Kenshin's story is fictional, it is modeled after similar individuals and brings a lot of other elements from that point in time that help to set up the story. In my opinion, this anime has one of the best story arcs, the Kyoto Arc, of all the shounen anime I have seen. And its probably the single reason why I continue to rewatch this show. Most of the 94 episodes of the anime are fillers that contribute very little to the story development. Not this arc. It gives out so much in terms of character development and "the feels." We learn more about Kenshin's past, his motivations, and just when we (or at least I) thought he was a nearly perfect being, we get to see him grow throughout this arc. We get to view the most epic fight scenes, as well as the buildup to them, in the anime in this arc. We get to see twisted villains act their worst, but who we can't help but sympathize with. Too bad the rest of the anime doesn't come up to speed. You can try watching the entire thing, but after watching this three times, I think that the best way to watch it is to watch Episodes 1 - 11 (to get the character intros and to go through the Jinei/Oniwaban arc, 25-27 (there's some good relationship development between Kenshin and Kaoru here), and lastly 28-62 (Kyoto Arc). Everything after those episodes is basically filler. You should watch the darker 4 episodes in Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal OVA to get more out of Kenshin's story. I've seen the Reflections OVA, but since its not manga cannon and I'm not too big of a fan of how it decides to end Kenshin's story, I won't recommend it, but you could watch at your own risk. For an anime that came out in 1996, the animation is decent (although compared to today's standards, is a bit dull). The character designs are pleasant to look at, at least, and the fighting scenes, although are a little choppy, are quite enjoyable. I'm not much of a fan of the music for the opening and ending scenes, I think they're a little too peppy, except for the "Heart of Sword" track which nostalgically gets me pumped to continue on to the next episode. The background music track, "Departure," that is played throughout the Kyoto Arc is probably the most memorable tune throughout the series and so has a special place in my heart. The characters, especially the main ones, are delved into in the series. And although some are annoyingly yappy, you learn to love. Since the story takes place in a post-war scenario, many of the characters -- the protagonists, antagonists, and anti-protagonists, have some hidden scars that a revealed through the story and through their personalities and actions. This show is definitely character-driven. Overall, although this series has its flaws, it is still a classic and is enjoyable to watch. There are not that many samurai anime out there, so you should definitely watch this if you're in the mood for some sword fighting, a little history, and a little chivalry and romance.

Rurouni Kenshin: It is a well known old anime what everyone should watch at least once. You know it's a type of anime what I should recommend to kids as well to watch to learn morality, virtue, and good will in a way they would also understand. I have re-watched the show many times now and the first thing what comes to my mind about Kenshin is the solid moral standard and the "peacefulness" and the beautiful music. I think these values are unique and hard to find anywhere else. So if you are depressed or you feel lonely let Kenshin step in to your life and he will make you smile.

Rurouni Kenshin is one of those shows that you keep with you forever. I watched it a very very long time ago, and clearly remember the premise for the storyline. I also remember the characters because of just how well developed and unique they were. Although the show is older, it holds its own among the modern greats. The emotions that surface while watching this show are 10-fold. It makes you happy, sad, angry, worried, etc. every step of the way. By the end of it all, you are left yearning to go back and relive it. The nostalgia really holds tightly.
Huntsman
How does a man who has murdered countless men, and has seen nothing but death along with experiencing endless pain and suffering since he was a child live his life after he has sworn never to kill again? That is the question that haunts Himura Kenshin the popular character created by Nobuhiro Watsuki. Watsuki's twenty eight volume manga series follows Kenshin's struggle to find atonement, peace and happiness in the new Japan. Along Kenshin's journey he meets new friends in Kamiya Kaoru and Sagara Sanosuke among others as well as old adversaries in Saitō Hajime as well as new and old enemies. Rurouni Kenshin would become one of the bestselling manga series ever in Japan as well as becoming popular in the United States, and the rest of the world that would inspire Studio Gallop to create an anime series based directly off of the popular manga series that many consider one of the best anime series ever made which is questionable depending on your view of how close an anime series should follow the manga that it is inspired from or should it continue even if the manga series has not finished yet. That are some of the things I will attempt to address in my review. The first season follows episodes 1-27 and introduces Kamiya Kaoru who will become the most important person in Kenshin's new life. Through her innocence, kindness and naiveté he finds a home and hope as he says in to a bunch of thugs who are about to kill Kaoru "A sword is a weapon. The art of swordsmanship is learning how to kill. That is the truth. What Miss Kaoru says is sweet and innocent talk that only those whose hands have never been stained with the blood of men can believe. But, to tell you the truth, I much prefer Miss Kaoru's sweet and innocent talk over the truth, indeed I do." That quote sets the tone for the first season of Rurouni Kenshin. The first season of Rurouni Kenshin follows pretty closely to the manga having all the core characters in the anime series, but adding others including Dr. Genzai's Ayame and Suzume grandchildren. I think Studio Gallop, and the writers decided to add them because they wanted to add more of a human and light hearted element that predominates the first season even with some dark story lines. All is not perfect with the first season especially in the latter part of the season with the three part pirate arc that closes out the first season. The plot was decent at best as Kenshin battles pirates on the open seas, and on Kairyu Island, but the action was what was really disappointing with the final episodes. There was just no real drama or excitement with Kenshin's battles in his search to save everyone, and find Kaoru. It just felt like the writers were just biding time until Season two and the long Kyoto arc. Overall if I had to give a score to the first season of Rurouni Kenshin it would have to be a 4.75. The final episodes did hurt the season, but overall the first season of Rurouni Kenshin was excellent introducing one of the best characters ever creating and introducing a whole new audience to one of the best romances ever in an anime series, and perhaps in mass media in general. Season two of Rurouni Kenshin is a much darker season as it kicks off the long Kyoto arc that forces Himura Kenshin to face his past once again. Season 2 is my favorite season of Rurouni Kenshin as the series introduces what is perhaps my favorite character in the entire series in Hajime Saito. Saitō Hajime is a former member of the Shinsengumi who were nicknamed the "Wolves of Mibu" Those who have seen Trust and Betrayal know that it is where Kenshin and Hajime first meet. Hajime is one of the few people in Japan who could stand toe to toe against Kenshin and nearly defeat Kenshin. Though they were enemies and fought many times, they also learned to respect each other through their battles, so when Hajime Saito reappears in the first episode of the season two it is quite a shock to Kenshin as Saito nearly kills Sanosuke to try and force out of Kenshin the old manslayer he once was and telling him "You can train a dog with food, you can buy a person with money, but there isn't a man alive able influence the wolves of Mibu! Some things will never change. A wolf will always be a wolf, the Shinsengumi will always be the Shinsengumi, and a manslayer will always be a manslayer!" That quote would set the tone for the dark second season as a new threat arises in Makoto Shishio. Shishio is the manslayer who very briefly appears in Trust and Betrayal as Kenshin's replacement in the shadows. Makoto Shishio has returned to destroy the Meiji government that nearly killed him, and in doing so he would form his own nation that would become a world power. The Kyoto arc is brilliantly animated and written as they show introduces Uonuma Usui "The Blind Sword", Makimachi Misao and Sawagejō Chō among others who bring such life to the show with their well written characters. Overall season two was a wonderful season that I would give a rating of 5 stars to. The season gave me displayed the best fights, and depth in story and emotional impact that I have nothing honestly to complain about. It is always a risk when an anime series continues on past the point of the manga when the manga is still on going. Will the writers be able to come up with a story that will fit the tone of the manga? Will the audience embrace the storyline that the anime series is showing even though the manga series is still on going? Many manga series like Beserk and Inuyasha decide to end their series, wait for the manga series to end, but others like Dragon Ball Z and Fullmetal Alchemist forge on either giving us endless filler episodes who creating storylines of their own. That is the question that faced Studio Gallop after the end of season two and the Kyoto arc in episode 62 when the Rurouni Kenshin was still on going. Studio Gallop opted not to continue the series, but Studio Deen was willing two and gave us the third and final season of the Rurouni Kenshin anime series. I have found that there are generally two minds to the final season of the anime series. In one corner there are fans who think the final season is nothing but filler episodes and is a disappointment, and in the other corner there are those fans who enjoyed the final season liking its different story lines. I find that I am in the latter of the two categories. The story lines are completely different from the manga. There episode arcs that involve a Christian Amakusa Shōgo who was also a student of Hiten Mitsurugi style of swordsman ship, and wants to set up his own nation in Japan. Another arc involves the dreaded Black Knights who are in a search for the divine elixir that will give them the power to rule the world. No the story lines and characters are not as good as the first two seasons, but the third season is enjoyable with some fun and heartwarming episodes including the final episode that I loved. Yes the third season is the weakest of the series, but it was still enjoyable with interesting story lines and entertaining episodes that I would have to give the final season a 4 out of 5 stars. The animation is dated compared to the modern anime series that are out now, but the animation is still well done as is the action which is well planned out, and animated. I must warn you that there are I believe there are three dubbed versions of the anime series. There is original version that came with the original release of the DVD's in the United States. There is another one at Cruchingroll that is terrible and heavily edited for a younger audience. I believe there is one more dubbed version out there, but by far the best dubbed version of the series is the original, so if you cannot find the original dubbed series watch it with subtitles you will enjoy far more than watching the terrible other dubbed versions of the series. The Rurouni Kenshin is an excellent anime series that adds to the manga and the life of Himura Kenshin one of the…

The Rurouni Kenshin TV series….ahh this was one of my earliest exposures to more longer running anime series…well, somewhat after completing DBZ of course Ahhh yes I have very fond memories of this series and how it heightened my love for anime in general with it’s compelling storyline and well-crafted characterization. Anyhow…to begin After watching the original and highly acclaimed Trust & Betrayal OVA (A MUST WATCH BTW) I was actually somewhat surprised to find out the story of Kenshin Himura continued on as a TV series. Storyline This story is set many years after the events of the T&B OVA. The protagonist Kenshin Himura has been wondering Japan for many years as a non-violent wondering swordsman often referred to in this series a Rurouni hence the series Title: Rurouni Kenhin. One day on his wonderings Kenshin comes across a training Dojo run by a young woman named Kaoru Kamiya. Kaoru is the sole instructor of the Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū fighting style developed by her late father, Kamiya Koshijirō who was killed during the previous Seinan War. Soon after their meeting an incident occurs at the dojo in which a group of thugs and their leader who claims to be the legendary assassin “Battousai the Manslayer” threatens Kaoru and her training dojo. Kenshin comes to Kaoru’s rescue and swiftly defeats all the thugs as well as their leader, revealing Kenshin himself to actually be the true Battousai. After this incident Kenshin realises he is growing tired from his ongoing wondering and admires the philosophy behind the Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū fighting style so henceforth Kenshin decides to settle down to become Kaoru’s first lodger…thus, his life at the dojo begins. Soon after, we're introduced to the other characters who become central to the series: Yahiko, a child pickpocket who becomes the first new student of the Kamiya Kasshin Style, under Kaoru's guidance; Sanosuke, a fighter-for-hire who allies himself with Kenshin after they fight, as Kenshin helps him understand that there is still work to be done to build Japan's future; Megumi, a doctor who is rescued by Kenshin and Sanosuke from the Oniwaban group and a whole plethora of other supporting characters introduced as the series progresses, many of whom are introduced early on, only to return later in the series to play a pivotal role in the overall story. In general the tone of this TV series is strangely more upbeat than the previous T&B OVA. The story includes many moments of light-hearted humour sometimes (rarely tbh) ceryain situations border a slapstick level of comedy which can feel awkward if you are coming from the exceptionally darker toned OVA However as the series story progresses we do encounter some of those more familiar darker themes / situations - it is just more mixed in with the now peaceful light-hearted-ness of this newer TV series…..which does ultimately make sense in regards to how the current society / era has changed over time Now although the tone shift from OVA to TV series was a bit awkward to start off with as previously mentioned all in all I wasn’t particularly bothered with the light comedy / drama blend this series decided to combine. The series goes through more than a few different story arcs that range in quality from good, very good, excellent and then finally ending on somewhat of a meh….which is ultimately the most disappointing thing aspect for me with the story - It did not feel consistent…..it felt kind of hit and miss for the most part with some story arcs just feeling out of place but then saying that nothing in this series various story arcs actually comes off as being particularly terrible…just mediocre at it’s worst Overall there’s a lot to be seen within the many adventures Kenshin and crew participate in throughout this series. It’s just a shame the quality of the storyline seems to sway back and forth throughout the entire series run making it a bit more difficult to judge it in any singular fashion Animation Taking into consideration that the animation was done in 1996 and it was quite a long running series I think it still looks pretty decent / acceptable.....admittedly though it does show its age looking at it by today’s standards For me the character designs can look a bit too cuteish most of the time but then it can suddenly change and become more aggressive looking and detailed when necessary….something I’m not really fond of – animation inconsistency. Yep this series picks it’s moments to shine with it’s animation and I can only assume budgeting issues are to blame for the odd switches of consistency with the animation. For the most part I’d say the action scenes are still pretty cool and upon revisiting some of the more epic battles I am still impressed with the action and attention to detail with the fighting scenes. Finally, this series has some of my absolute favourite openings and closing themes which are also animated quite well…especially for it’s time. Sound Well, I originally watched the English subtitled version in Japanese and found everything to be just fine. Sadly when I eventually purchased the media blasters DVD releases I found a pretty shallow and annoying English dub that actually put a couple of my friends off this series altogether when I recommended it to them. For me…the English dub is passable at best but if at all possible I would urge people to watch the Japanese language with English subs version for a better overall experience. The overall soundtrack, opening and ending themes for this series were really good and I have nothing bad to say about them. Very well done and perfectly fit the tone of the series overall imo. Characters Ah…for me this is the series strongest point. The characters in the show are very likeable on a whole but what gives this series that extra special edge for me with characters surprisingly enough is that I found most of the antagonists / villains to be the more interesting and well written in regards to their personal motivations, justifications and philosophies on life. These “villains” were not all your everyday typical stock predictable archetypal characters. They actually explained themselves and had some interesting and thought provoking motivations behind their actions. Most of these characters had an interesting code of ethics and a strong belief in what they were doing…even if it was ultimately evil (lol). Coming from the OVA’s story and background I found all the continued political and philosophical situation’s of this animes universe to be particularly thought provoking for my young mind upon my original viewing of this series and I appreciated a lot of the social and personal issues many people had to face throughout the series. I know I’m making this series sound pretty visceral but that’s exactly what it was for me upon the first viewing and even now those characters dwell in my mind as still very well written characters. Now, saying all that I will admit there are more than a few bad apples and lame side characters in this story but for a series of this length Its pretty much inevitable that is going to occur and I can forgive that as they do not hinder the overall story all that much So in conclusion, I feel (for the most part) this series has a great cast of well written and memorable characters that help make the story that much more enjoyable Enjoyment On a whole I enjoyed this series a hell-of-alot upon first viewing and still appreciate a lot of the depth and thought provoking subject matter that was raised til this very day. As it stands now I still look forward to a time when I will sit back and re-watch the series…..i’m actually hoping for a reboot to trim the fat off some of the more weaker mini-stories / subplots that I feel were out of place or just plain filler for me Sadly this TV series has a somewhat open ending imo…but luckily things are all wrapped up in a sequel set of OVA’s (which I found to be a perfect ending to the …

Episodes up to and including to the end of the Kyoto Arc: This show is amazing! The music is fantastic and the fight sequences are an entertaining mix of dubious attention to historical accuracy and flat out physics defying insanity! The characters manage to be both entertaining and surprisingly engaging! Also the dubFUTAE NO KIWAMI AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Episodes after the end of the Kyoto Arc: FILLER FILLER FILLER FILLER~~ FILLER Basically: The TV show is pretty great! ...If you stop watching after the Kyoto Arc. All you have to look foward to in its aftermath is a bunch of mediocre shit the show's writers pulled out of their collective ass while waiting for the manga to finish its final chapter. It doesn't help that the filler was SO BORING that the show was cancelled before they actually got to animate said final chapter. Not that I'm bitter or anything, I ended up reading the manga to find out what happens and it was TOTALLY worth it! On the other hand if you: - Didn't get your fill from the filler episodes in the FIRST TWO seasons - Would like, no, LOVE to watch animated adaptations of Kazuhiro Furuhashi's fanfiction - DESPERATELY need closure re: that Yutaro kid, up to and including him coming back and starring in his own ridiculous story arc about a secret European invasion of ninjas or some shit I don't even - Can't read ...then don't let me discourage you from checking out the third season!

Very good serie. At first I didn't really know what to expect. The art wasn't very well done and the effects were minimal but how could it be any different. This show is more than ten years old. It didn't take long before I liked it. The story's well thought through and the action is good. It is a shame though that the show didn't end after the defeat of Shishio. From there it kind of went downhill. I espescially hated the last episode. There's a limit to how badly made an episode can be but you shouldn't condemn more than 50 episodes of pure gold because of one failure.

First the plot, with was outstanding. What happened and progressed in the story showed the changes the japan was going throw very realisticly without going to far away from the main plot. The first season was like getting to know you. It went over the main caracters, their backstories, and best of all there abilitys. If you watch this though make sure not to skip episodes otherwise you may get confused as to what goes on in the next season. The second season is a more plot based season with more fighting and best of all new techniques. New techniques were not something that I was expecting because It was made to seem as though there was no room for improvement, in fact the first season made it seem as though the main caracter was losing skill. In the third season I was mildly disapointed. The ending great battle showed a epic struggle that was sword's against a more modern european fighting style that made in appearnt that it would be impossible for the samuria to continue to shine as the strongest in japan because Kenshin (Our main and strongest caracter) could barely stand up to them. The art was some of the best that I have seen, for the 90's of course with is when it came out I do believe. The caracters were great as well and the plot ran smoothly with them because they all fit in, I do have problems with the caracters at the ending of season three (AHH you'll have to see it cause I'm not telling why) Overall it was one of the most enjoyable cation anime I have seen and I hope that everyone else that watches it enjoys it as much as me

A short sweet and to the point review: [Original posted on AnimeNfo.com] The storyline, though lacking in originality manfests many emotions that the audience can associate with. Each character has a unique depth that draws the audience attention. Overall, it is a original story line, strong on action, and kissed with romance, i enjoyed watching this anime. The main character Himura Kenshin is a much more developed main character than most popular characters. As he interacts with other characters, he influences them in a very postive manner. This type of character is touching and great in depth.
