This is one of those anime where when I first read the name and saw the key art for the show, I thought that it would be best to avoid it as it looked nothing new to me. Last night I was rather bored and wanted something to watch and decided to just at least give it the three-episode rule and to my surprise it has been an amazing watch. The story is everything with this series. There is so much information getting thrown in your face that it always keeps you attentive to what’s going on. Sometimes I look away from the screen and I have no idea what is going on when I look back. It doesn’t help that from episode one you are simply thrown into the series, and you just learn about everything amongst everything else as the episodes pass by. As for everything that unfolds along the way, it is simply just so interesting to watch. It makes you wonder what’s going to happen, how to get out of such and such areas and what the trump cards are. One of the main things I noticed with this series is that despite it only being 12 episodes long, it feels a lot longer. The characters are interesting but the connections they have between one another is even more interesting. For instance, when it comes to character deaths you would expect remorse and mourning and something bad. In this series, when someone dies it is what the death means rather than the sadness of someone passing. The same can be said for marriages. These things are typically known as happy occasions and something to celebrate. In this series, it’s what a marriage brings about rather than the marriage itself. I just find that whole dynamic entertaining. The music is perfectly fine. I quite like the opening, but I very much prefer the ending. Everything just really suites the show well. A lot can be said the same about the actual animation. While it isn’t something that jumps out at you, it is something that is there and serves its job well. Overall, that is all I can really say about the show or is of note. I had a really good time with it when I thought that I wouldn’t enjoy it at all. I really like these types of shows and I wish there were more of them around. The way the show ended inferred that there is much more to come but it is anyone’s guess whether we will ever get a second season. If it did, then I wouldn’t hesitate to watch it on a weekly basis. That’s about it. If you are thinking about watching it yourself then I would say that it is worth the watch. You might even find yourself in the same situation as me and ending up having a good time with it. You never know.

Premise sounds lame, because if being a genius is the only thing going for him and it is used as justification for all plot resolutions, as it is the case, then story become stale pretty fast for my taste. Still, this is much better than to see the use of "modern knowledge" which is the case in some trash isekais, when author own knowledge of subject is based on reading 5 minute wikipedia article on it. Anyway, amount of ass pulls and "smart" moves is pretty high here. Poor premise aside, politics portrayed here are main plot line and good enough to capture attention. Second most used tool is banter between MC and his right hand. Which is, conveniently, a girl, but for some magical reason he shown to have zero physical interest in her. This is more unbelievable thing than him being a genius. Sorry, if a beautiful young woman sits on your lap and you have zero reaction, then she is either your sister (or some close relative) or you have impotency. None of this things seems to be true, so it must be just a bad excuse for future romance shenanigans. I dont know if brozone exist in real life, but she seems to be stuck in this state. No fanservice. Boo. Well, there was some boob shot for 1 or 2 seconds, but there is more food porn screen time than this. Combat/battles depiction is abhorrent. Not in good way, it is just lame af. This is often the case for anime adapted from LN, so nothing new here. Animation is average, as everything else. Overall it is not great, but good enough to not be complete waste of time. I guess reading source material would be more engaging, but protagonist and his story in my eyes look too generic to care about it to try it.

TL;DR: 10/10 waifus + super chad big brain MC , go watch IT!! Most of you would disagree with me but i think this is one of the smartest and perfect anime out there. Not because its some kind of mind-blowing anime that can affect you on an emotional level with S tier animation, music, action, characters like show often praised by people like AOT,Fruits Basket nor does this anime have out of the world outstanding comedy like Gintama, Grand Blue Its because, its a simple show with a simple plot, standard animation and character design with good enough music, standard isekai like world (without fantasy stuff)........DONE ABSOLUTELY Right in every aspect! Without trying to shove in lots of bs , fan service , overpowered mc etc in our face..; the author presents a well written, consistent and perfectly linked story of Prince Wien and his companion Ninym who have to rule and manage a country which isnt as prosperous as others to say the least. Each character has their own motives, duties, roles, mindset, beliefs with proper time given to each one to shine. Characters in key positions act like real people who can be understood to have gained the postion and they act likewise unlike other anime. Smart people arent just full of plot armour. character relations and bonds are also given time to expand and mature.

We received two political anime this season both having their own strengths and weaknesses. The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt(mouthful lmao) is a political anime with comedy sprinkled in, making it a little lighthearted at times. To be completely honest it wasn’t anything too special where the comedy at times would fall flat, but not always and the story would leave you disinterested at times, but it was overall an enjoyable watch. Art: 8 The animation for this anime isn’t exactly amazing, but it's more of a dialog-based anime so it gets a pass, however, I will say the character designs are enjoyable to look at and I thought were done well. Especially the main duo as they are just pleasant to look at. Sound: 6 Neither bad nor good. It didn't have anything that really was super enjoyable to listen to, but I feel like that the sound choice for serious or more lighthearted scenes was chosen correctly and that's always a plus. Characters: 8 I think that the show had some strong characters, but also some weak ones. I found that when neither of the main duo was on the screen the anime would be a lot less interesting which is a double-edged sword because I think the main duo was entertaining to watch especially Wein, however, the side characters could've had more flavor. Story: 6 The story was fine, I just think that when the anime tried to be more serious it would be a little uninteresting because the main conflicts were never really fleshed out for that long, not to mention at times it would just, unfortunately, be a little boring, but the mc would keep me entertained enough to keep watching.

The anime seems very cliche but it is not as mediocre as it seems. I personally really like political plots and how to beat someone else's game, those things that's why I liked this anime. Likewise, the first episodes are quite boring where you see that the protagonist does not want to be king and well there it becomes a bit dense. But after the first 3 episodes you realize that things are going very well for him and that he is a well-made man. I would have liked to see a bit of romance but well not everything is possible in life. It is an anime with a decent animation, a very typical character design, it does not stand out much except the main waifu, the soundtrack is not bad. It's a solid seven. I recommend it if you like intelligent characters who win battles by planning and being superior to their rivals.

This anime is just a summary of the Light Novels it's based on. Each episode covers the events of an entire volume of the novels. Cutting out almost everything that makes the series good (world and character building). What you see in the anime could be said to be the bullet points of a plotline planner. It's actually disappointing how bad the anime is compared to the novels. I'd only recommend watching the first two or three episodes. After that if you like it, you should read the novels instead. Otherwise, the anime will ruin the experience for you. If you're not into reading and won't read the novels I suggest just passing on this anime entirely.

You have to have the right expectations for every show in order to enjoy it. If you come into this one expecting some super serious political masterpiece you'll be disappointed. But if you've read the "wants to sell his kingdom" part of the synopsis or seen the poster with the half-a-dozen waifus, you should already expect something lighter that pokes some fun of the political genre, along with other fantasy tropes like harems and such. The "Genius Prince" part of the title is not to be taken literally. Sometimes he has his moments, but half the times the guy's plans fail - especially the ones about him personally profiting from his kingdom. True, often they "fail well", especially from the viewpoint of his people, but even that comes from an equal dose of dumb luck or plot convenience and not his genius. And sometimes even when he succeeds, it's in ways that make no sense or defy common sense. If you try to be too critical of this aspect, you'll find many flaws. For me they were small enough to forgive and find the show fun and entertaining overall, but different viewers have different levels of "suspension of disbelief" or "putting up with bullshit for the sake of enjoyment". You better just give it a try and decide for yourself. According to my personal threshold, only the very last episode kinda went overboard with the unreasonable "tactical bullshit", to the point I was even considering halving my rating. In the end I decided to leave it above the similarly-themed but way more pretentious "realist hero" show that's also continuing during this season, since I enjoyed it more aside of this one episode.

The story of a reluctant genius prince who wants nothing to do with the throne or politics. Unfortunately he's so good at it that no matter how hard he tries he just cant fail. He makes rash decisions and yet is still able to plan 3 steps ahead. Alot of the prince's successes feel more like dumb luck and convenience to me. But this is a comedy so although some of it may come off as BS its still entertaining to see the plans all fall into place. Trying to follow which country is which and what alliance is what gets a bit confusing. This is either due to poor explanation or because i just wasn't paying attention. Either way its a fun watch.

A young prince and heir-apparent to the throne is viewed by all around him as being every bit as competent and reliable as is befitting of a kingdom's future king, but the prince has a secret that only his attendant knows: he wants absolutely nothing to do with the welfare of his kingdom, which is in the throes of poverty. Such is the premise of this show. The setting is a sort of medieval alternative-Europe, where there does not seem to be any magic to speak of and most problems are solved by quill, voice, or sword. The writing is above average, but only marginally; many of the events that transpire throughout the show are not so far-fetched as to require you to suspend your disbelief for them happening, which is refreshing in a medium that prides itself in incredulity. The action is quick and possesses a rare degree of finality - when characters die, they die quickly. No monologues, no speeches, no meaningful last words. There is a layer of gravity to the work that induces a sense of stakes at play where adversity is concerned. Where the writing falls flat is in its tenuous, one-sided execution of more complicated ideas and themes; the main character is one of the very worst kinds, in that he is written as more intelligent than every other character despite his ideas not being particularly brilliant. It is a case of centralizing genius by surrounding it with alienating incompetence, which is the lazy method of writing a thoughtful character. This would be a gloss-over point were the show thematically different, but in this one this genius prince is the sole solver of all the problems not merely domestic, but foreign too. He has no foil - everyone else simply fails to outwit him. There is no development here as a consequence. Moving on, the animation is of a varied quality. For the most part it is a completely unremarkable show where the animation is concerned. Throughout the show, however, there are several instances where there are rapid cuts being made and it becomes a touch difficult to understand what is actually happening. The final episode is the worst offender in this regard. To summarize: there is no outstanding quality present in this work. It does nothing exceptionally well, aside from its depiction of killing others, and is shallow in living up to its own expectations of cementing its main character as a genius--he is simply infallible, a sort of Gary Stu of politics. I cannot recommend the show, nor can I dismiss it as there is certainly far worse looming in this genre. I suggest this: if the setting and premise above have inspired curiosity in you, go and watch it and form your own opinion of it.

--- Original lenguage: Portuguese --- --- Additional lenguage: English --- English: I see here an anime with an absurd potential, a relaxed and humorous scriptI honestly admit that I was a little scared by the opening of Universal, but I just believe that there will be a continuation A season with the past in the gym would be a good idea (if it hasn't already) You honestly can't deduce what he's going to do with the kingdom but it brings an extra taste to the anime It deserves more than 7.5 but unfortunately the hole in the script can affect a lot, such as the forcing of some parts and the like I'd definitely watch it again in the future. This ‘The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt’ is fantastic in its story and characters. Even though its performance in art is anything but masterpiece, it is still a highly recommended anime. The most significant advantage of this anime is that it provides Realistic political shows instead of the childish naive political claims which are often made in similar anime. Unlike other anime’s ‘Great Ideas’ or ‘Great Dreams’, like ‘that I will liberate all slaves’ or ‘that I will eliminate class barriers’, this anime’s political plots focus on small specific reachable political interests. Also, the character issues their political interests for realistic or in other word materialistic reasons, instead of vain justice or impulsive ideas. Also, the romantic plots of the anime are great. The heroine and the hero veiledly but not insignificantly show their love. The romantic plots are inserted into the political plots perfectly.

This anime is good. And it's just about politics. I'm not interested in politics so it bored me. But still it's watch able. Reasons for watching this anime. 1. They have some waifu, 2. Mc is intelligent. 3. This anime is paradise for politics lover. 4. You will see brother and sister bonding. 5. A quiet a good animation. 6. Art is good too. 7. You will see mind games here. Beginners will drop this anime. So this anime is highly recommended for old anime watcher. Like you had to watch at least 20 to 30 Animes. So watch it after see this review. So this is it for now. Watch it, if you feel like it. At least I want to say is my review is bad I know. So please for give my mistakes. See you later.

This was very promising in the beginning. I thought I’d finally see a well made trash mc with ill intentions and can make me laugh. Unfortunately, his plans changed and he started doing things more seriously. It got too political and relationships in the anime didn’t matter anymore. It was just war after war after war, no stopping. His ideas and execution is good but there is no break whatsoever and it just gets kinda old. People compared it to [How a realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom] and said it was better but I personally think that one has a good storyline and things fell into place. For this anime I continued pondering whether to quit or not because it was so tedious to watch.

After watching this in 2 days I can say that the Genius Prince Guide is an enjoyable watch for a seasonal show. You really only need to watch at least 2 episodes to decide whether it's worth your time. The show revolves around the Prince who has to take care of the problems left behind by his late father who ruled a kingdom that was not doing so well. Wein is cheeky, egoistic, and fun to say the least. His partner Ninym is a great partner character who's serious nature balances the cheeky personality of the prince. IMO she fits the title 'main girl' easily. Throughout the show we get to see the Prince solving any problem he faces with well thought out plans, or gambles that seem to be always in his favor. This is the first gate that will test whether you should watch this or not. The anime does not set the protagonist with failure, so if you are tired of the "OP no problem is impossible " mc lead then I would say watch this show mainly for enjoyment or don't bother at all. The anime op is 4/10 the visuals of it are actually ass it has no planning and it's just lazy to put scenes or simple animation together. The music is also not the worth, but not hype or chill for my taste. The ED is just as simple but hey at least its the song is a little bit better. The overall ost of the show is forgettable and nothing stands out but it isn't horrible. I would say it meets the standard for a seasonal show. The artstyle is simple nothing we havent seen before, but I will say that the animations of the show do struggles sometimes so keep that in mind if you care about it that much. The character designs are kinda od though I like the main casts design as its something that doesnt look like ive seen it 7 times in the past 10 years. I think its a fun watch, It does not rank anywhere close to top 30 or 40 even, but i see no reasons to hate the show. Should you watch it? Like i said give it 2 episodes maybe it will fill your niche and be one of your favorite shows.

This anime was surprisingly good. I wasnt expecting much when I started after having watched the first season of "How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom", which had a somewhat similar plot, but I am very glad I did. I really liked the scheming all the characters did in order to gain an upper hand. None of the characters seemed forced, although some seemed to be too extreme as foils. Sometimes I felt like the story was kind of forced to go a way that helped the main character, but the main character's reactions to such situations balanced it out. This anime's events seemed unique to me and don't follow the usual cliche scenarios. I would definitely recommend this anime if you liked anime that includes strategizing, politics, and world making.

Here is my review of this anime in 2022! A fine story about a genius prince that is able to think out of the box but lazy to be involved in work. This anime more often talks about the strategy of how to find a win-win solution for each party and learn to view things from the perspective of others. Art (7) The art is just good typical animation Sound (8) The music for OP and ED are decent with good OP showing the characters and not spoiling the overall story. Character (6) The main characters are memorable. However, Takahashu Rie did not get to express herself as much with the Ralei, Ninym. Enjoyment (9) It's enjoyable to watch this anime! Overall, the pace and storyline are good. Some good character personality showcase but the main female characer Ralei, Ninym is a bit lack luster for Takahashu Rie. The rest of the cast are mostly like a shadow background characters. The ending is a bit questionable.

First let me be clear, I love this genre mix. I feel that this Anime gives a fresh spin to the classic "monarch rebuilds kindom" genre, much like Konosuba did for the Isekai genre. The typical mix off intrigue, war and finance might not be anyones case but if you enjoyed other animes like Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki, Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria or Maoyuu Maou Yuusha you will love this one. The protagonist is falls in the category of smart and overpowered protanists, that is common in such a fantasy setting but much to my delight, the protagonist as well as the "main" supporting characters appear to have a deeper going background, which is a promenent motive through out this season. The anime is fairly fast pace too, which I think greatly reduces the amount of fillers and contributes to my very high enjoyment, since I typically binge all my animes in 1-2 sittings max.

Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu (2022) This is essentially a different version of 'How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom'. Perhaps this is going to be a new phase of shows that we see, just like how many Isekai exist too. The story is fine and does a nice job with its flow and keeps on track for the most part with the aims and expectations of the show. It does get a bit confusing at times with how quickly it tries to progress. The art is the biggest issue, one minute it is fantastically average then suddenly it nosedives through the floor. Battles especially feel like the cutscenes from the 1990s you get on a handheld device game. The sound has no oomph to it at all, battles are dull, voices are fine and the OST is ok? Characters develop well throughout the story, it perhaps introduces too many characters since arcs feel skipped or incomplete at many stages. I like the dynamic of almost having a harem but not having one at all in its own way. Pretty vanilla, which is nice to see for a change. In the end, it is a solid 5/10. It does what it does well and sucks at everything else.

I wanted to like this show, but the main character is annoying at his best. The show constantly tells us what he did instead of showing it; his inner monologue is the only way we know some of the schemes are happening, so it's a boring show. If you want an interesting political thriller with scheming, watch Son of the Century; I shouldn't like Mussolini more than the main character. Most of the characters are one-note or just eye candy, like most of the women; it feels like it got subsumed a bit by world-building that isn't even that interesting or engaging. The battle scenes felt rushed, and the strategies felt very basic. I was going in expecting a mid-level political thriller/feudal politics, but I was severely disappointed

tl;dr: The hilarious story of a prince whose plans turn out surprisingly successful, though without much substance beyond that. This anime is centered around Wein Salema Arbalest, crown prince of the nation of Natra, who upon his father falling ill comes to lead the nation. This anime chronicles the various problems that Natra is faced with and how Wein uses them as stepping stones to grow Natra. The world this anime takes place in is a fantasy world. However, there’s no magic, dragons, demons or anything like that. It’s going for something more grounded, and while the result certainly isn’t a realistic medieval society, it’s still a setting that’s pretty rare when it comes to anime. This results in things playing out very differently from other similarly premised anime like Realistic Hero or MaoYuu. The original title of the novels was “The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?).” The first arc fits that full title pretty well. In it, Natra says that he doesn’t want to deal with the difficulty of leading a nation so he plans to sell it out and live an easy and comfortable life with his ill gained earnings. Though he needs to make Natra worth selling out in order to do so, and thus he tries to lead it well but not too well as that would mean more work for him. However, the fates conspire both for and against him and his plans go much better than he expected and though Natra makes major gains, he’s forced to do a lot more work which he hates. Now to be clear, Wein isn’t dumb. He does come up with plans that are good, albeit simple, and implements them effectively. But them being overtly successful comes down purely to luck, which is hilarious. The title of the anime drops “Hey, How About Treason” because past the first arc it really doesn’t come up much. Past that point, Wein whines about how things are annoying and how he doesn’t want to deal with them, but it’s basically just stress relief. The show makes clear that he works very hard for his nation, constantly pulling all-nighters and such, to the point it harms his health. Now at this point he ends up dealing with much more complicated problems. The first arc had a pretty heavy focus on military tactics, but afterwards the main focus of each arc was primarily politics and diplomacy. There’s a lot of careful wording, mind games, and bluffing. Military action was still a part of things, but in a much more overarching way rather in the nitty gritty tactics and such. Other things like religion and economics also similarly played a part. The plots of these arcs were also pretty good to a degree. They’re certainly very interesting because Wein is a master bullshitter. He comes with all sorts of wild plans with all sorts of crazy aspects to them. Instead of solid but simple plans that work better than they should due to luck, Wein comes up with crazy plans that seem incredibly unlikely to be successful. That they manage to actually work is amazing and really amusing. A lot of the time they have some really stupid parts to them, but other than that they’re reasonably intelligent so they’re pretty satisfying to watch unfold. I will say that the writing is often straddling a very fine line between lunacy that can be overlooked and lunacy so extreme it just makes everything look nonsensical. And at times it crosses over into the overtly nonsensical side, which makes it hard to take seriously. Unfortunately, the final arc fell pretty heavily into the nonsensical side with the last episode being full of things that are hard to suspend your disbelief enough to take seriously, which ends up giving the season a pretty weak final impression. A major side effect of dropping the ‘treason’ aspect of the show, is that it results in Wein becoming a pretty boring character. Now he puts on quite a lot of airs, but that’s all it. Just a facade. And beneath that all he seems to be is a pretty competent but somewhat generic leader of a nation. It isn’t really clear what’s driving him or who he really is at all beyond that. The only times we see him genuinely emotional are when they involve racism against his beloved aid, Ninym. These are the moments when he’s most interesting, but not enough to make him interesting overall. The final arc brings this topic up itself, wherein it has another royal question what his ‘beast’ is, what inner desires he has that keep him going. And apparently he does have quite the interesting answer to that question, but the viewer is left in the dark. This does achieve the desired effect of making me curious enough to be more interested in Wein to the point I want to know more of his story. But it doesn’t yet make him any better of a character. Thankfully he’s a pretty funny guy so he’s still likable, but I can’t help but find him somewhat disappointing. The rest of the cast also wasn’t very well developed. Ninym seems to suffer from the same issues as Wein in that she’s basically just helping Wein and doesn’t really seem to have much more to her. She can be really cool and how well she works with Wein is pretty awesome, but there isn’t much depth to her character. Lowa, Zeno, and Falanya all have more complicated circumstances and motivations and even get some character growth. However, it wasn’t all that well written for any of them and didn’t really leave all that strong of an impression. They’re all still pretty likable due to how they fit into the story and play into the comedy, but they don’t seem like all that interesting in and of themselves. Beyond that, characters are incredibly flat and one note, with the antagonist especially being cartoon villains for the most part. The art and animation were pretty solid. The character designs were pretty good, but I don’t think the anime really used them all that well for the most part. The OP and ED were decent enough in terms of the song and visuals. The soundtrack was also decent but not particularly memorable.
