I Don't know who messed up in the info department, but this is not an anime! This would fall under Hentai/child porn (just because you say that a character is 200 years old doesn't make it right) First thing you see is the main female in a swim suit then next thing you know it, she is striping! what does that tell you? Story 1/10 There is no story. It is mostly Echi pics of the characters and some actual animation of the characters taking their close off and sexually getting on the main male. No intercourse is shown, but masturbation pics can be seen. Art 4/10 The art is decent. If there was a real good story put to the art style I'd watch it. Sound 1/10 When they made this they, clearly were not using a good mic. Character 1/10 The main female character is a several hundred year old fox who falls in love with a young teenage boy (boy is a loli so more pedo stuff their.) Enjoyment -10/10 Lol it's an F. I did not enjoy this at all. (It is because of the hentai/child porn.) Overall 1/10 Lets just say the base of this whole thing was to sell dvd's!

What was lacking in the main show, was shown here. Like I said in my Kanokon review: I watched it mainly for the ecchi scenes and boobs, but I didn't actually get to see much nudity. So the Specials gave me what I wanted to see. And I'm thankful for that. The story is almost totally absent. Kanokon Specials, basically, consists of 12 minisodes, with the average length of two minutes, and they contain short segments filled with eroticism. One of them, for instance, has Chizuru picking a Valentine Day's gift for Kouta, the other features mostly static images, and some other minisodes feature other characters, such as Asahina or the twins, in provocative poses and situations. Yout get the gist: this is just pure fanservice, made for those who were unsatisfied by the amount of boobs in Kanokon. Being one of them, I liked this, even more than the show itself. On the other hand, if you didn't like Kanokon and don't care about ecchi scenes and nudity in it, you won't miss anything by avoiding this.

I debated to go with a 5 or 6. decided on 6 because i have seen harder stuff than this so maybe i am just numb to what it is going for but you can definitely expect an ecchi approach. Specials go from mini slideshow of a specific character to a mini episode clip and continue. Don't like the character show no worry you will see one you could like in another special. One thing i did like is that the specials during the slideshows stuck with the original airing pairings. For examples both twins made their appearance together.... the main character's mother and sister stayed together. I viewed this in eng sub not dubbed. Maybe there is a dubbed version but personally i don't think i cared since the specials had next to no spoken audio. To be fair with my rating if you did not read my original review on the original show i think i indicated i was not happy with the character design from the start.

Okay, but ultimately… what is the line between ecchi and hentai? Honestly, that was a question I kept asking myself while rewatching the Kanokon specials to write this review. Because at many points it seems like the work is literally walking on the edge between the two genres. There are several scenes with semi-nude or completely nude characters, extremely suggestive situations, and moments that clearly seem to have come straight from some +18 content. This made me think that perhaps the main difference between ecchi and hentai is simply the point where the work decides to stop. Ecchi usually stops before the explicit act happens, while hentai goes all the way without hiding anything. And Kanokon Specials seems to test this limit all the time. These specials take everything that was already exaggerated in the main series and elevate it even further. If the regular anime already relied on fanservice and absurd sexual situations, here there's practically nothing left besides that. Entire episodes are built on nudity, provocations, and scenes focused exclusively on arousing the viewer. At various points it feels less like an anime special and more like a compilation of animated fetishes. And the funniest thing is realizing how my view of the work has completely changed over time. When I was about 15 years old, this probably seemed like the pinnacle of entertainment. It was exactly the kind of anime that teenagers secretly seek out because they find it daring, funny, and "forbidden." The me of that time would certainly have watched it thinking it was incredible and probably wouldn't have noticed half the problems I see today. But rewatching it now was a totally different experience. Nowadays, a large part of the feeling I had while watching was secondhand embarrassment. Because there comes a point where the anime simply abandons any attempt to seem like a normal narrative. There are scenes that literally boil down to: "the character is naked and now she's going to rub her breasts on the protagonist for several minutes." And that's it. That's the entire content of the scene. There's no relevant development, no depth, and not even a great concern for story. Everything revolves around heavy fanservice. The specials seem to exist solely to deliver more ecchi content to those who already enjoyed the original anime. And honestly, within that premise, it even works. The ecchi is "well done" for the audience that seeks it. The direction emphasizes all the provocative scenes, the animation clearly knows where to focus, and the characters have personalities designed precisely to fuel this type of exaggerated situation. Kanokon perfectly understands the audience it wants to reach. The problem is that, looking at it today, it's very difficult to see it as just an "ecchi romantic comedy." Mainly because of the characters' appearance. The protagonist continues to look like a child for a good part of the anime. Meanwhile, the female characters have much more mature and sexualized bodies and attitudes. This creates an extremely strange visual dynamic at various moments. In my adolescence, I completely ignored this because I was only focused on the fanservice. Today it's impossible not to notice the discomfort that certain scenes convey. And the specials worsen this feeling even more precisely because the focus here is almost exclusively on sexualization. Everything becomes more exaggerated, more explicit, and more uncomfortable depending on how you look at the work today. At the same time, I can perfectly understand why Kanokon resonated with so many people back then. The anime was clearly made to shock and provoke. It fully embraces exaggeration and never tries to pretend to be sophisticated or profound. It's pure, shamelessly appealing entertainment. Perhaps that's why I see Kanokon Specials much more as a product of that specific era of ecchi anime from the 2000s than as something that has aged well. Back then, there were several anime constantly trying to push the boundaries of what could pass as "ecchi." And Kanokon was clearly part of that group. In the end, I still find it difficult to casually recommend it to someone. Not because it's necessarily awful, but because it's definitely not the kind of anime you watch calmly on your living room TV. It's pure lewdness from beginning to end, without any attempt to hide it. I can still understand why I liked it when I was younger, but today the feeling is much more one of strangeness than genuine enjoyment. It works for those looking for exactly that kind of exaggerated content, but outside of that it ends up being a very questionable experience. Definitely one of those anime you hope no one walks into the room while you're watching. Rating: 5/10.

They're 1-2 minute shorts with 0% plot and 100% "plot". That being said, I actually liked it quite a bit, good enough to give it a higher rating than the show itself because they finally paid some attention to the girls with smaller chests. The ecchi genre of regular anime, along with adult manga/doujinshi, and especially hentai anime are absurdly over-saturated with women with massive breasts, so it's always refreshing to see less well-endowed characters getting some attention in this format outside of a lolicon context. These specials have ecchi scenes—which are mostly a series of pictures reminiscent of a slideshow—with the majority of the female cast. As a proponent of the "flat is justice" sentiment, I particularly liked the inclusion of Nozomu, the Ren'Ai twins, Akane Asahina, and even the frog spirit Mio. I originally gave this a 7/10, but I bumped it up out of spite for the tourist in the reviews who said this show was CP and called the male MC a "loli".

If you enjoyed the fanservice of Kanokon The Girl Who Cried Fox, and just wanted to see more of that then this is for you. No plot. Just 12 episodes of 2 minute shorts of girls posing nude and doing lewd things. The main series was never that deep plot-wise anyway. And this special really shows what the main theme was all about anyway: lewdness. There are some pretty good desktop-background or screensaver worthy shots in here too. It features all the main female characters from the show. They all get their spotlight. This special is this close 🤏 to going from ecchi to full on hentai.
