Akebi's Sailor Uniform
Timothy-309
Akebi's Sailor Uniform, on the surface, is just an anime about the lives of some high school girls. But here the art, voice etc are so good, they already earn a 6 with just that. But there's more than just that. Everyone has a goal in life. Some want to be good civilian, some movie maker etc. And taking something like that as a goal and working toward it is the most common thing. For most, staff like making friends or how you eat everyday are second thoughts. But Akebi's dream is just what she says. And Akebi perfectly shows that her goal means as much to her as playing music means to a musician. And that the anime takes this rather less common path and is able to make one believe that, raises its score to 7. But the most special part is, how much one can dedicate to his/her dream. Akebi’s dream seems rather simple. But she gives it everything she has got. Her very life is dedicated to her dream, every second, everywhere. Her existence itself is alive in her dream. How many exists out there, who does this much toward their dream? 'Give it everything you've got.' - this line pronounces at every pore of it. P.S. Those who talks about foot fetish in the anime negatively should know fetish isn't something disgusting. I didn't even get that that is fetish. And I don't consider that either, so. And fetish is just a part of human nature. P.S. I wish I was a middle school girl in Japan. I wish I could live an alternate life in Japan. I hope sailor uniform exists in Japan forever. Akebi's passion to every thing around her and her sailor uniform makes me fall in love (not romantic) with her everytime I see her. And she isn't like she appreciates these things. She is like that just by being herself. That's why she is one of my favourite persons. She is like the manifestation of every single thing I've learned and liked in my whole life. Akebi isn't about fetish or feeling good. It's about loving a single call from a friend, about the uniform you wear, whether you walk or run to school, carrying a friend, listening with someone on the same earphone. It's about these little things. If I'm ever reborn into japan, I wish to have the same feelings as of right now and to wear a sailor uniform, even if just once. P.S.Those who think it's just a feel-good anime, they should know they don't even know the depth of Akebi. Wearing the sailor uniform when she wanted that her whole life, you can't even comprehend the depth of that. And how many of these are there!

Akebi-chan no sailor fuku was an entertaining show with a great variety of cute girls that you might enjoy in this anime tropes "cute girls doing cute things". Whether they are determining to solve on their own problem or to find the new tomorrow for themselves. This show was the kind of thing that might be your enjoying show into the fullest Why you must watch Akebi-chan no sailor fuku? Because there are lots of enjoying story that some viewers will shout "cute" without their acknowledgement and this show has them all if it's talk about the daily life of a girl who tried to make friends with everyone Now you must know this thing first before you go deep into this show 1.Story The story begans with a girl who never had a friend except her sister since on her elementary school. She was an energetic girl who had interest in other people's life and dreams. One day, she found her mom's sailor dress back in her junior high. Akebi was feeling excited and that one day she will enter the same school as her mom. Will her journey becomes an exciting one or it becomes something negative? Don't worry about that. Because everything in akebi is served so well that we almost likely to see that we are on their daily lives. With the story so strong about a girl who just wanted a friend, it is becoming the recipe of cuteness in only a minute after you watch this show. The story is also a well done but maybe a little bit cringe with the act of junior high school being in their juvenile times. Maybe it's to add the feeling of realistic in this show but on the same time, it is also adding the distinct traits of the girls. 2.Art There's nothing to say about the art. It was amazing, the graphics was fine and detailed, the scenery is awesome and almost feels like it was real. Despite of it's realisticness, there are some shots that might need to be polished but overall it was enjoying nothing else. 3.Character The character was the most important elements when it comes to slice of life and yes, they did it wonderfully for the character because there are various traits of character that akebi met with. And they are the embodiment of the prefectures that they are living on. Overall is great 4.Overall This show was a great time waster in a good meaning and very recommended for people who likes to watch some daily lives of girl that likes to chit-chat and play with each other at ease.

Its the standard cute girl doing cute things stuff. The story didnt revolve around the fact that she wears a sailor uniform which i thought would be cool but its just daily life of akebi with her friends. The artstyle is not really fascinating and i think its kinda weird. The fact that everyone looks like akebi is unsettling and the supposedly beautiful girl in this story became just normal looking girl because of the art. if you like watching slice of life anime this maybe not be the best one because the event not really that interesting to watch. The only highlight of this anime is when akebi little sister smack her butt which only happen twice.

At first I thought it was gonna be a Yuri Slice of life anime, but I was wrong. Because this anime super wholesome ❤️❤️ and the animation is top notch. Great work done by Clover works. I like anime that has lots of cute female characters doing cute stuff 😍😍 The story is about a girl who's name is Akebi. She is a very cheerful country side girl. She also got a super cute Lil sis 😍 akebi always wanted friend's since elementary school but she was the only girl in her school but when she went to her new high school, everything changed her life. She gets lots of friends. All the girls in her school are damn hot and cute at the same time. U guys might feel little sleepy 😴 at first but believe me the last episode is a banger 🔥🔥 Akebi chan is soooo kawaii on her sailor uniform which is her school uniform but all the other girls wear only blazers. Anyway I'm gonna recommend everyone to watch this anime. I hope you guys will enjoy this one. One more thing don't watch this anime with your parents just by seeing the poster 😂 just watch it alone, u will understand my hu I'm saying this. Anyway Thanks for reading 😊

Akebi Komichi went to a country school all her life where she was the only student. Now she is given the opportunity to go to her mother's old school, make lots of friends, and wear a cute sailor uniform. That's the entire premise of the series. A slice of life that shows the daily life of Akebi and her companions. It should be noted that Akebi is super positive, athletic and very innocent, which makes her very popular and even somewhat annoying. We will see her running barefoot, swimming, playing volleyball, tennis, in the drama club, fishing, that is, being a normal and very energetic teenager. Something of little relevance to the plot is that she is the only one who uses sailor-fuku, but it is a problem that is rarely talked about and is quickly fixed.

This is pure bliss. It's been a long time since this type of peaceful, pure, filled with beauty and friendship anime was released. The scenery, the art, the characters are so beautiful it just warms the heart. Even though these days this kind of friendship does not exist, I do hope that in country side these kind of friendship and happiness still remains the same. After a long time an anime with this kind of story was made and I am really happy that I was able to watch it. For those who wants a peace of mine and purity, a beautiful journey into clam and warm feelings, this anime is for you. I loved it and hopefully you also. Thank you production team and creator for making this anime.

How could you ever love something as flat as 'cute girls doing cute things'? I don't know at all, if I’m being honest, but now it appears 'cute girls doing cute things' is no longer flat, but a lot more interesting than you may initially think. Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku, or Akebi for the sake of convenience, is just as I stated in the introduction of this review, cute girls doing cute things, but it's executed in this show in such a way where you may just forget the show is just that, and actually think more about how Akebi is in her new environment, and the happenings that have gotten her to where she is by the end of the show. Personally, I didn't find much interest in the show, as something with little drama or teachings really interests me, but again that's a personal opinion, I see myself as smart enough to know that this show is very well executed and true to its overall theme. Considering my personal opinion on this show is a weak one, I have little things to say about it other than before, however another thing I can comment on, writing wise, this show is that, this show has a truck-load lot of personality. Not only does the show differ from other things that have aired as of late, but it also differs in its writing style and becomes something more iconic than other recent shows like World's End Harem, for when you watch it, you can definitely find yourself saying "Ah, classic Akebi", rather than being able to directly compare it to any show you might have watched. Finally, we get the main bait to watch the show, the absolutely stunning visuals. While this show may not be much with shounen entertainment, this show can definitely leave any demographic awe struck at its breath taking visuals, done clearly by the same people who created the visuals of Wonder Egg Priority, and huge props to the author for creating such literate availability for the show to execute this well with the atmosphere the writing had created. So, while Akebi may not be for everyone, I feel everyone should at least be able to appreciate how well it executes it's goal, or at bare minimum, appreciate the visuals and character design.

THOUGH IT'S SIMPLE YET IT'S ONE OF THE MASTERPIECE. Story 9/10: Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku follows a story about a girl and her sailor uniform and her goal trying to made as many friend as posibble. yeah the premise seems ordinary or nothing special in it, but when it's executed perfectly it shall considered as a Masterpiece. Art 9/10: This is the best thing they offer from the anime, the art just like an anime being produced as a movie not a series or this is some anime being produced by Makoto Shinkai. even though the character design kinda weird the first time I saw it, but later I finally get used to it and start apreciate it more. Sound 10/10: It's just amazing, this anime at some point playing with music intrument being played and it just sound really wonderfull. the OP and ED just perfectly fit the tone of the anime. Characters 10/10: Akebi follow same recipe for character they made each character have their own quirky nature. even this one is a cliche characterization but Akebi-chan doing it amazing for making them to felt more grounded and less just used for comedic purpose. Enjoyment 10/10: Totally enjoy this anime, though at some point the slipping some fetish agenda. still it's amazing show to watch. every single episode this anime offer some heartwarming scene between Komichi and her family or her classmate and a character development for side characters. Overall 10/10: This is a masterpice, and this should be how a CGDCT being made.

Pros: + Artistic and Poetic + Good Characters that harmonize well + Very attentive to detail + Exceptional animation and production quality + Pretty good music and sound design Cons: - The story is restricted by the environment/setting - Plot holes about the setting and backstories of characters Extras: : It is a bit suggestive, and have some fetish appealing elements, but personally it didn't bother me that much, but I know some people who might not be uncomfortable with it so take this as a disclaimer. (Spoiler Free) The main problem with slice-of-life is the lack of plot. Without a plot the anime becomes mundane and without purpose, therefore you have to compensate or make up for it somehow. The most common ways to do this are either to focus on an interesting subject, explore and discover an interesting world, or to focus and create interesting characters. And Akebi-chan's story follows the common method of focusing on the characters. But what makes Akebi's story so masterfully written? You know whenever you finish reading... say, a poem, or finish listening to a song. But unlike all the other forgetful poems and songs you actually understand the deeper rhetorical meanings that the author expresses in their lyrics... you slouch into your chair and you go "Damn... that was deep"...? Unironically that's how I felt when I finished watching this anime. It might sound cheesy, because it is... but unlike 90% of other anime that you just cringe whenever they try to be 'deep', this anime is so artistic and tastefully written that it feels elating. You realize through this anime that all the things your English and art teachers at school taught you might actually not be BS. However there are some things that I believe are a major problem to this anime's success. It is clear through the characters that the author had a very clear picture of how these characters would interact and harmonize with each other. However through the story you can tell (Except a few characters) that the author struggled with the backstory of the characters and how they got to where they were. The characters together harmonized beautifully, however the anime's attempts to try and 'develop' each character's preface are very obvious and lacking. Furthermore, the story takes place in a very 'bubble' like world where there is almost no interaction outside the select settings. And even those few settings have massive plot holes and plot conveniences plastered all over it. During the one episode where the author attempts to try and expand the world, it kinda fell flat, and I think the author knew that because the attempt shifted away from the setting, and back onto a character's development. My critiques might sound a bit harsh but that's just because I'm a little bit frustrated with the wasted potential that this anime could have embraced. It was so close to a 10 for me... Anyways tldr I love this show, it's so artistic and poetic, great animation and production, and the characters are awesome. Just a little bit of potential wasted.

~~~Slice-of-Life is my favourite genre. However, it requires quite big brain to create something extraordinary in both world building and meaningful symbolisms, thus I have got to settle with the mass-produced Cute Girls Doing Cute Things, which would often age pretty poorly (looking at you, K-On!, season 1). Still, as a rare occasion, it seems that I finally found gold in this forsaken world, and I might never be able to learn as much as as I did with ‘Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku’. __The Plot__ It was Komichi Akebi’s first year of junior high and she had her heart set on one thing: Robai Private Academy’s sailor uniform. As the next chapter of her life got closer, she dreamed of all the exciting new experiences she’d get—school lunches, classes, club activities, and of course, making lots of friends! With her favorite outfit on, Komichi felt ready for anything. However, it turned out that the school had a new dress code. What could be learned here, then? Maybe it’s important for parents, or legal guardians, to get a hold of the school regulations before the entrance ceremony? No, since the school allowed her to go to school in that attire, in favour of tradition, something greater presents here. As a country proudly having its very own unique culture like Japan, the lesson here is that appreciating tradition must be top priority, even in the case of breaking the current regulation, without a single doubt. You kids had better take it into account. __The Characters__ Life is kind of stressful, even for the kids, not to mention the aforementioned institution is a prestigious private all-girl school. Therefore, the children must have been through unimaginable pressure, in order to pass the entrance exam, and as a result, there were quite many lifeless souls, who were in lack of either confidence at themselves, or motivation to fit in the new environment, or questioning their current place in life. As such, ever since the encounter with the energetic, friendly, prominent girl in the unique sailor uniform, who was capable of doing mostly anything, they had gradually grown attracted to the young Kenobi...I mean Akebi. The more (skin) contacts they made, the closer the characters came to each other, and the more new things they learned, the further they reflected upon themselves, and hence, found more room to grow. A girl gradually grew proudly of her feet, as well as her body, and got interested in photography, in order to capture the beauty of human. Some felt confident at befriending, since Akebi had shown them the way. A musically talented kid got the courage to perform in public. Another began learning the basis of guitar, in order to play it to her precious friend. Hope she would become a self-taught bassist as big as Paul McCartney... Hell, even Akebi wanted to get used to the spotlight, so she had joined the Drama Club. Their interaction had gently become the driving force for their self-improvement, and the consequent growth is definitely a symbol for the beauty of friendship. __Other Symbolisms__ + We all know the infamous meme regarding to anime, even though Hayao Miyazaki never explicitly said so. >You see, whether you can draw like this or not, being able to think up this kind of design, it depends on whether or not you can say to yourself, ‘Oh, yeah, girls like this exist in real life. If you don’t spend time watching real people, you can’t do this, because you’ve never seen it. Some people spend their lives interested only in themselves. Almost all Japanese animation is produced with hardly any basis taken from observing real people, you know. It’s produced by humans who can’t stand looking at other humans. And that’s why the industry is full of otaku!. As a form of rebuttal against the criticism, the anime dedicated an entire episode for the characters to observe the surrounding, and more importantly, human behaviours, since ‘objective observation and record’ is such an efficient way to learn about unfamiliar things. As a result, we have learned that a short girl in middle school couldn’t reach to the top of the vending machine, which was nearly 3m tall, because Japanese female at that age have an average height of 1,52m. Certainly, it was Mission: Impossible, so such knowing is common sense. Then we were given the knowledge that, in order not to interfere in the research object’s activities, and to avoid any failure in putting the slightest details of its behaviours in the record, the observer must be expert in hiding his existence and blending in the environment. As such, the girls had collected quite the amount of information regarding to their classmates (without gathering much attention?), and befriending, socialising, as well as drawing animals and people had then never been easier. Now, do you have any objection, Hayao Miyazaki? 'Anime was a mistake.' - Hideaki Anno. + Friendship is indeed, pretty important to one’s life, and on the perspective of a person ‘seeking for something genuine’, it has to go through the challenge called ‘hardship’. When a member lost her cherished childhood memento, the group decided to search for it together. Ironically, when they thought they had found it, as if the God of Chance’s joke, it got further away, right in front of the poor girl’s eyes. It seemed all hope had lost, as the owner reached out into midair, aimlessly, eyes devoid of expectation, but other girls didn’t let it be. They determined to be the launcher closing the gap between the thing and their friend, and when the girl got a hold of her memento, her profile was once again lit with joyous light. The audiences got a plentiful spoon of happiness, to the point of suspension from the fact that the bookmark was placed inside a closed book, so even if it had been dragged outside by getting hooked to the notebook, such tugging sensation would have immediately drawn attention. Nevertheless, the power of friendship is so broken, that we have to adjust how the world functions, in order to obtain it. __Final Thoughts__ In a perfect world, the artist, and the accompanist, successfully finished their long awaited performance. Such performance was welcomed with a thunderous round of applause, and my mind went exploded. I had never seen such beautiful crossover between L Chitanda and April is Your Lie. Tears dropped from my eyes, and it has gotten into my mind, that regardless of complaints about fetishes, sexual objectification, et cetera, as long as they aren’t addressed in my review, ignorance is totally acceptable. Therefore, I will halt my pen here and cut into the conclusion. Akebi-chan’s Sailor Uniform is Komi-san 2.0. A masterpiece by default. Must watch.~~~
"HEARTWARMING AND WHOLESOMENESS FROM START TO FINISH" Trying to write this review to be short and spoiler-free as possible. First of all, from a person who has read the manga before the series was animated I'd commend Cloverworks for an amazing job animating the series they caught the manga's art style and took it to another level. The story revolves around Akebi a middle-schooler who grew up in a rural part of Japan, her goal was to have lots of friends since she was the only student in her elementary school. To make it simple it's 12 episodes of diabetic yuri-some wholesomeness and its full of heartwarming moments that make you comfortable watching it and it is complemented with superb animation Cloverworks showcased for the viewers. Following Akebi's journey of making friends and her interactions with the people around her makes you want to have a conversation and hang out with her as well. Would I recommend the series?. Yes, especially for those slice of life enthusiast just like me.
Where do I even start? Winter season was overloaded with great, wholesome and relaxing anime which are my bread and butter. Akebi's sailor uniform is something I stumbled upon after the first episode came out, I watched it because I figured the description was right up my alley. I instantly fell in love with it. Endearing characters, beautiful animation, stunning music. It was all around awesome from the start. The simplicities of life and dreams of a first year middle school student drew me in each week, giving me something to look forward to at the start of the weekend. I can only hope now, that we get more. What an amazing ride it was.
This... this is a masterpiece. An absolute masterpiece. When I first got into anime, I remember saying to a friend "I'll watch anime, but I'm not interested in just watching cute girls do cute things. I don't see the appeal." ...This is cute girls doing cute things, and I'm absolutely besottled with it. I went into a couple of episodes thinking "I know I love this, but -why- do I love it?" - by the end of the episode, I would then say "THIS is why I love this show so much." The story itself is good, but not it's selling point - not like Monogatari for example's sake. It's a wholesome school focused story (but not exclusive to school). The art is incredible. The scenery is just absolutely outstanding, and while I wouldn't say it's the focus quite like Made In Abyss, it's still breathtaking to see some of the sights. The sound... the sound has unbelievable attention to detail. The sound of shoes squeaking on wooden floors, the pitter patter of feet, the voice actresses, everything... The characters are what this show is about though. Just... There wasn't a single episode I didn't love, not a single character I thought was out of place, not a single moment which I took issue with. Yes, Akebi is portrayed as being flawless at first glance, but when you look deeper - or give any given episode a moment to breathe, you see that she's not perfect, she's just exceptionally driven to always be her very best. While this next point might seem very personal and unimportant, let me just say: This show was legitimately what picked me off the floor when I was feeling down and that my own efforts to learn Japanese were all for nothing. I was going through an incredibly hard time recently, and felt like giving up. I felt like no matter what, it was pointless. Then there was one episode in particular that spoke to me directly, as if it knew I needed to hear it, and it said to me: "No matter how hard it seems, no matter how hard things get, no matter how far your goal might be, keep trying, because the ones you look up to only got there by struggling through these very same fears and hardship. Don't give up, you've got this." Even though I've only rated the story itself a 7, every other aspect is a 10 from me, and I'm not upset about the story whatsoever. There is no such thing as perfection, but with everything that this show set out to achieve, it knocked the ball out of the park. Thank you to everyone involved in making such a wonderful piece of art.
Please note this review is intended to be read by those that have finished watching Akebi’s School Uniform and while care has been taken to minimize spoilers there may still be spoilers within character analysis. You have been warned. Based on a popular manga series of the same name Akebi’s School Uniform which is more popularly known by its Japanese title of Akebi Chan no Serafuku is a slice of life and coming of age anime that allows us to see what will happen if one day a young girl who ever since seeing her idol dressed as one had developed an intense fascination with the sailor fuku style school uniform was to be given the once in a lifetime opportunity to don that very uniform and attend the very academy that her beloved mother had attended in the past. Despite an unfortunate mishap on the first day thanks to the generosity of the academy’s headmistress Akebi was not only allowed to attend the academy wearing her prized sailor fuku school uniform but for the first time in her life be given the opportunity to not only meet other girls her age but also make her first-ever connections with them while experiencing the unique social and cultural activities that are the hallmarks of not only broadening one’s life experience by meeting and befriending like-minded peers your age at school but also in the process create many cherished and powerful memories that she can one day look upon fondly. Whether you grew up within a bursting metropolis such as Tokyo or Osaka or grew up in small outlying towns that only have a few dozen inhabitants there will still be life moments that will always be common wherever you live and one of these is the attending of school. For most people school is a place that invokes bittersweet memories for them as it reminds them not just of the fear that came from facing stern and scary teachers but also of the unique fear that came from making sure that you pass every test and exam through many sleepless nights of cramming and for some praying. Though school was a tough environment for them for many young adults the attending of school was also one that provided many firsts for them as it not only allowed them to develop their first interests and hobbies that may aid them further down the line but also for the first time in their lives meet likeminded people and establish friendships and bonds that can last for extraordinary amounts of time. While the premise for Akebi was relatively simple its primary focus of being a coming-of-age narrative for a girl who had spent her early school days alone be suddenly presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to change that by entering the very school that her mother had attended and take her first steps into the wider society that comes from being a young adult, what made it even more relatable was the level of innocence and heartwarming feelings that are invoked in you as you see our lovable protagonist Akebi Komichi navigate her way through the unfamiliar confines of a junior high school and for the first time in her life meet, befriend and enjoy school life while learning of new social interactions and events every new day. This combination of wanting to root for Akebi as she encountered new situations each new day and a desire to see how her overcoming of this would change her and enhance her time as a junior high student as a result of this I felt was one of the reasons why I cherished this series so much because while watching Akebi change as a result of her accomplishments was enjoyable seeing her was like seeing a younger version of yourself go through the same trials that she was and in the process invoking a sense of nostalgia in one as well because back then things were far simpler. Akebi Komichi Akebi Komichi is one of the main characters of the series and is the protagonist of the series' main narrative and one of the core members of Roubai Girl Academy’s class 1-3. A middle school freshman who before the start of the series had successfully passed the entrance exams for the famed Roubai Girls Academy Akebi from her initial appearances was shown to be a kind, caring, and gentle girl whose positivity and energetic nature made her a joy to have around for both friends and neighbors alike. Though innocent and somewhat of a klutz at times and liable to panic easily due to her inexperience with others her age she was someone that was friendly and honest and was always willing to learn from her mistakes and was someone that truly wore her heart on her sleeve which is perhaps best shown in her organized nature and her strong desire to remember each member of her class correctly. When used in combination with her polite and earnest nature this served to make Akebi an unexpectedly popular member of the class which allowed her to quickly befriend many of her peers despite the uniqueness of her self-intro on her first day in class. Despite her airheaded nature and the sense of fame that her self-intro caused on her first day Akebi’s primary focus within the series had always been to live her life freely and enjoy whatever new challenge awaits her as she starts each new day. While she relishes the opportunity to explore the unique social interactions that school brings her in the form of school clubs as well as the opportunity to observe other clubs that while interesting to her was not one’s that she wanted to take part in its within her interactions with her classmates where her development as a character truly shined. While her base nature allowed her to easily make plenty of friends within the class that synergized well with her desire to live a fulfilling school life by forging strong bonds and creating memories of their time together within the series this aspect of her development was used in conjunction with her own desire to create an ideal image of herself that can be used as a foundation from which she can grow from. This desire of hers while stemming from her need to improve herself can also be seen as an effort on her part to better aid her friends in their endeavors while showing well her determination to help those in need also showed the kind of effort that she will put in to help those that she cherishes which within the narrative is shown in the number of friends that she was able to make as a result of her hard work. This development of hers I felt while endearing to look at due to the kind of lengths she will go to help her friends also showed a level of charisma and organization skills that she unknowingly possessed in abundance that allowed her to not only help those in need but also open up new paths that can be used to solve the problems that they encountered with her attempt to save Kojou’s prized bookmark from the wind by creating a human chain and her rather determined attempt to cheer for others despite knowing only the most basic of cheers that she learned minutes ago being the best examples of this talent. As a character Akebi I felt while a simple girl whose earnest desire was plain to see was also one that had a surprising level of depth to her that I found surprising. While her base desire to live a fulfilling school life surrounded by friends was one that was shown excellently within the narrative her desire to help them with the problems that ail them by providing not only with potent emotional support but also her ability to motivate them via her often random but oddly charismatic actions that more often than not break them out of their predicament served to make her a surprisingly well-rounded character that allowed her to serve as one of the centerpieces of the class that complimented well with the personalities of her classmates. A role that while surprising to her showed well how much her earnest desires to have a fulfilling school life by helping those around her when they need her had touched the hearts of her classmates who now view her not as an oddity that wore a different uniform to them but as a dear friend that can be cou…
Saturdays are what I call the “Cloverworks Flex Day”, with two of their shows airing thirty minutes apart from each other. This show was definitely overshadowed by the massively popular show My Dress Up Darling (which by the way I have just released the review for), the aforementioned show that airs just thirty minutes earlier, but in my opinion, both shows have their charms, but Akebi’s Sailor Uniform shines as the comfy, slice of life show that we can enjoy, and boy is the animation stunning! My episodic grading scale: Story: /10 Art: /10 Music: /10 Characters: /25 Enjoyment: /15 Thematic Execution: /30 STORY: 6.4/10 As we usually see with slice of life shows, there isn’t much of a general direction with the story. The gist of what goes on is that Akebi Komichi, our main character has loved sailor uniforms since she was little, and wears one her mother makes for her to her new school, even though the new school no longer uses sailor uniforms as their dress code. Despite that, she dons said uniform, and makes lots of friends using the bubbly personality she has. It’s honestly a lot of fun. ART: 9.6/10 This show is what I call a “wallpaper feast”. So many beautiful shots can be seen with the wonderful attention to detail in its animation. This kind of reminds me of the animation we saw in Violet Evergarden, with the bright and vibrant colours on display here. MUSIC: 7.8/10 Pretty solid soundtrack, but nothing out of the ordinary. Opening and endings are fun to listen to. CHARACTERS: 16.5/25 The characters are pleasant and fun to watch. I don’t think anyone would dislike Akebi, with her vibrant and cheerful personality that could bring a smile to anyone’s face. Unfortunately, she’s probably the only memorable character here. The other characters are good friends, and each have their little quirks, but aren’t all that interesting to me. Well, one other character does actually stand out to me, and that would Akebi’s little sister, Kao. She’s definitely a fan favourite for her cuteness, and no one is refuting that fact. ENJOYMENT: 10.3/15 Decently enjoyable, though I do wish there was a little more to the story. THEMATIC EXECUTION: 21.5/30 The slice of life elements are generally done well, but there are some distractions to the comfiness that could honestly be toned down a bit, especially the shots of the characters’ feet, the author of this really was showing a bit of perverseness there, and I found that a bit out of place, but it’s nothing egregious so I can still enjoy the simple slice of life themes. OVERALL: 72.1/100 A decent slice of life show that proved to be one of my top shows of the season that I would recommend if you enjoy slice of life, because it’s pretty comfy, and a nice start to the weekend. The animation is to be admired, and that’s probably the number one selling point of the show. Well done Cloverworks, these twelve weeks have been enjoyable!
As a slice-of-life or CGDCT no-story no-drama no-goal nothing-burger this probably deserves 10/10, it delivers perfectly what it promises (which is nothing). It just shows random and unimportant moments of the school life of main girl and her fiends for no reason other than wasting some time if you have too much of it. Ok, technically there are some episodic plots here, like this or that friend's existential crisis to be resolved with the power of smiles and songs, but nothing really real when you get down to it. The main focus remains on the girls constant carefree smiles and giggles and not the reason behind them. If you want to be charged with some unrealistic silly positivity, this will do nicely. Maybe it's wrong of me, but I do expect something deeper from my anime though, even in the CGDCT genre, so I can't give it a 10. For example NonNonBiyori had the same silly positivity charging power but also had good substories and hooked me from one episode to the next, which is missing here. One other aspect worth pointing out is the "fan service". It was a very weird experience, and a first for me. In all other shows I've watched, if it were present, it was always very straightforward and direct - be it censored or uncensored, boobs or pantyshots, it was never pretending to be something else. Here however we have something much more roundabout. There are a few bathing scenes or undressing scenes that never show boobs in frame, just imply them slightly off-frame or such, but also tons of closeups of legs, lips, bellies, fingers touching skin and sometimes even *gasp* hand holding. It's not supposed to be dirty in any way, it's just girls going through normal daily life moments, but it happens a tad too often to start looking suspicious and out of place and make me wonder what the point was - the show would've worked completely fine without these scenes too. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and other people won't find it odd. Hopefully I am.
due to the absence of male characters it was peaceful to watch. i love how joyful komichi is,, almost woke up the good in me. also my girlie is gay af i don't know why it's not mentioned clearly but it can't be just my thoughts i'm going to read manga to make sure. a good SOL tho. might be good recommendation to distract from real life problems or some episodes can make you remember them if you're teenager, idk, might also help you not worry about them that much. there's a fine thin line between finding this series peaceful or depressing, if i were around 15 i'd probably feel not good enough and go depressed. it's up to your mental.
Basically, this anime wins with its visuals which are too stunning for an animation. There are probably many anime that certainly have good visuals too, but this anime takes it even further to the point where it's sometimes hard to tell whether a scene is a photograph or a pure animated frame. Great visuals certainly won't be enough to say that this anime deserves a good score. I personally really enjoyed the story which was so relaxed and I was able to get carried away with the flow of the characters' lives in this anime. If I have to compare it to another anime, maybe Non Non Biyori is the anime that is very similar to this anime. What makes it different is that we are brought to focus on one main character, unlike Non Non Biyori where in almost every scene, the audience is taken from one place to another and from one character to another. Still, if I had to choose between this anime or Non Non Biyori, I personally prefer Akebi Sailor's Uniform.
This anime could have been a 10/10 if it had some sort of depth or drama. The animation is freaking beautiful, the colors, the characters all of it. The music is top notch, and flows so well with the animation. The characters appearances were amazing, and the main character Akebi has so much personality. The show has no depth. All the ladies are all so nice to each other, there’s no romance, there’s no deep sad story behind any of the characters. If this show had some sort of mean girls, drama, romance, like some sort of life hardship, etc something to give it more depth I would be freaking 10/10ing this show on my list. However I found myself dreading the finish the last few episode after the hype of the beautiful animation and music wore off.
To begin with, this anime has one of the most beautiful animations and music I have ever seen, audiovisually it has many beautiful details in the setting and the atmosphere is simply magical. Talking about other things... the characters and the story itself are good, each character is nice and the development of the chapters and themes is very enjoyable, it is not excellent or perfect, but for a "Slice of life ". "It fits well. In narrative terms this really doesn't have much, but it's still okay because the story doesn't try to make a spectacular world with such complex characters, it just tries to tell us Akebi's adventures with her friends in high school. , and for me it does it well
