Saga of Tanya the Evil II
Cashdudex
Saga of Tanya the Evil season 2 was a great follow up to the first season. As a whole I feel like this season did everything season 1 did but just a little bit better. I also felt like this season ended on a very high note with the last couple episodes so I hope a season 3 is in the works. Art Style/Character Designs - 7.5 Animation - 8 Themes/Depiction of War - 9 Characters - 8 Story - 8 Comedy - 8 Music/OP/ED - 9 Enjoyment - 8 The art style and character designs I've always thought were pretty good but definitely not the best I've ever seen. I think they fit the themes of the show well and in general just serve the purpose they're supposed to. When it comes to the animation I felt like it was a bit better than season 1 and was pretty consistently great. They also did a pretty good job mixing in the use of CGI so it didn't look bad or out of place. The most intruging part of this anime for me has always been how it depicts war. Now I'm no expert on the topic but I do feel like it does a good job at showing the different sides and perspectives of those involved with a large scale war. This season especially did a good job at depicting internal disagreements as well which I enjoyed a lot. As for the characters I feel as though they all serve their purpose in the story perfectly, but looking at them individually I mostly only really care about Tanya and the core members of her team. Also I'm usually pretty good with remembering characters names but this anime is one that they never really stuck with me, so outside of Tanya I probably couldn't name 5 characters lmao. As for the story I've always felt like it's quite comedic at its core considering it's revolving around Tanya trying her hardest to live a peaceful life but of course that never ends up being the case. I do quite enjoy the story, I think it ties in really well with the characters and themes of war, so I don't really have any complaints. The last few things I want to touch on are the music and the voice actors. I remember liking the music from season 1 quite a lot but season 2 did an even better job with it in my opinion. Especially when it comes to the fight scenes I feel like the music always beautifully sets the tone. When it comes to the voice actors I always felt like they did a great job, and Tanya is voiced by my goat Aoi Yuuki so she delivers awesome performances as always. However what I didn't realize until I looked into it this season was just how stacked the lineup of voice actors they have is. So many of the characters in this show are voiced by people who have super notable roles in other anime which is really awesome. It's like they assembled the voice actor avengers and I had no clue. Anyway in conclusion I feel like Saga of Tanya the Evil is a great watch and season 2 was a great continuation of the series. A very solid 8/10 for me, hopefully we see a season 3 sometime soon.

Youjo Senki II can be summed up as: "Empire supposedly on the verge of losing, Tanya conveniently saves it with the power of friendship", but, like, 6 times in a row (the story is more or less divided into small 2-episode sections). Why I say "supposedly on the verge of losing"? Well, because while the anime tries to portray a weakened, exhausted, almost breaking Empire, they keep their massive landmass intact, keep winning battles, and seem to want to engage in an ever increasing amount of battles as time goes on. So it doesn't seem the Empire is losing that much at all. There was never a solid reason why the empire was losing in the first place. Anyhow, the very first episodes were a sign of what was to come. To start, they cut or entirely ommited ALL prayer scenes. This also happened to many combat scenes which were simply skipped or barely shown. This season also had some extremely weak moments, such as episode 5 - half of it was composed entirely of annoying dialogue and Tanya making weird faces as if they had ran out ideas. It felt like a cheap comedy. I'd say around half or more of the episodes had no combat at all. Many episodes were so confusing you were left not knowing what had just happened (or what was going to happen). A prime example of this is the ending, which, without going into details, is so full of plot holes, omissions and nonsensical events that it almost ruined the entire season to me. Basically, they delegated the task of creating an ending to the viewer. The last episode also had an overuse of cheap CGI which reinforces the bitter taste of the ending and of the season as a whole. Season 2 also lacked the grandeur and aura of victory we had in Season 1. I loved Tanya in her childish voice absolutely destroying everything in her path. The speeches, the training, the prayers. But Season 2 has none of this - her voice is boring, they cut the prayers, and every episode is about how the Empire is losing. Lastly, many characters were given importance in a couple episodes (such as the bald federation guy obsessed with Tanya) only to be completely forgotten afterwards. Very little character development here. Being X is also largely ignored; it felt to me like they only referenced it at all in order to pretend it was still part of the plot. And now they're going to take 10 years to release a third season, if they even release it. It's better to pretend Youjo Senki started in S1 and ended in the Movie. I wouldn't say Youjo Senki II is completely unsalvageable, hence why I'm giving it a 6, but compared to S1 it was a big and disappointing downgrade.

This season is directionless; that is the simplest and most direct way I can put it. Especially in the latter half of the season, the pacing drags to an absolute crawl, with scene after scene of nothing happening, the same few talking points regurgitated over and over again in slightly different phrasing. Instead of the fast-paced action of season 1 and the movie, season 2 has placed its interest in the military politics of the world, something I would normally like, however, it has done this to the point of foregoing actual progress in the main story. All of the major players have remained stationary, important characters have been left to the wayside, and everything simply refuses to move. It’s like they paced this to have many follow-up seasons, or a long runtime in general, where they can spend all the time they want introducing new characters, following plotlines, diving into each character’s specific backstory and their views on the war, etc, but this season is only 12 episodes long! We dont have time for this! Like, for example, spending 5 episodes in a row doing nothing but talking and pontificating is definitely a slow pace, but can work for shows with the time to spend, but that’s almost half of the available runtime for this season! We spent nearly the entire latter half of the season just having characters talk to each other about the state of the war and related politics, and the story barely moves anywhere during this time. And the abysmal pacing is far from the only strange thing with this season. Why is Tanya acting a lot more like an 8-year-old girl? This one really gets on my nerves, as we receive multiple deliberate comic relief scenes across the episodes (does anyone above the age of 4 actually find these funny or entertaining?) centered on Tanya’s overly expressive emotions of joy or what have you, but like, this is a middle-aged guy in a little girl’s body, not a little girl who magically happens to be really good at war, that’s kind of the entire conceit of the show, so what is going on here? It feels extremely out of character for Tanya to be acting the way she does in this season, and it honestly just weighs down on the events that transpire. There are other strange things too, like Tanya being more or less sidelined in her own story, or her catchphrase “How did this happen?” basically not appearing, or Being X appearing only 1 time so far (and not doing anything) despite him being Tanya’s main antagonist, or the frankly strange introduction and immediate disappearance of multiple Russian characters (and really all of Russia?), and more that I really don’t feel like listing. Further, it feels like there are a lot of things just straight up missing, like, where is Tanya praying? Or what happened to Being X? Or what about Marie (she does exist, but only at the beginning and at the finale)? These are central to the show’s identity, and they are kinda just, not there? I dont know, this season overall has just rubbed me the wrong way. I would recommend waiting for the manga to adapt this part of the story instead of watching this nothingburger of a season. Stay away from this season.

You cannot navigate the Concert of Nations via artillery shelling. Youjo Senki comes back with its second season after a long and arduous wait to remind us of that. The premise of Youjo Senki involves the protagonist getting into an argument with God, getting isekai'd and gaining crazy powerful magic powers, and yet it chose the route of realistic warfare. For example, the show goes out of its way to thoroughly take down Great Man theory, the theory that it were actually exceptional people who were the ones shaping history rather than multiple converging trends, because no matter how successfully Tanya pulls off an operation, or how powerful a spell she casts, all battles were decided before the first shot was even fired. It's public opinion, logistics, preparation, mobilization, strategic competence, technology etc... that shape battles and wars. That's the case season 1 was making. Youjo Senki always built itself on the promise of "magic WW1" so maybe it was even a bit of a risk to sideline the war part and focus on peace talks and politicking. But if in season 1 it depicted realistic war, then in season 2 it had to depict realistic peace. Because war and peace aren't opposite, they both encompass a nation's foreign policy. Yet it seems that the Empire, in all its glory, who won battles, conquered land, and subjugated peoples, has forgotten that you can't bombard your way into a sit at the negotiating table. Season 2 of Youjo Senki accurately depicts the pariah status of the Empire and the concept of the Balance of Power, that foreign powers will band together to stop what they see as an emerging hegemonic threat and they'll use war to do so. Throughout the season, the Empire's mindset is always one more battle, we'll win one more battle and the enemy will have to capitulate and beg for peace. But the world always slaps them in the face and shows them how inadequate their understanding of geopolitics is. It's a classic pitfall for a nation and the season does a good job of portraying how flawed that mindset really is and how everything is more complex than it seems. So overall, season 2 of Youjo Senki doesn't slack on the job with trying to depict how geopolitics really work, even if the subject matter changed from season 1. That's good and all but is the story actually good? Yeah. Since season 1, Youjo Senki never had any kind of particular message or anything like that so its as deep as your local pool and season 2 doesn't change that but just like your local pool, it also maximizes entertainment value. It's a fun show with how it creates events and how it makes its characters react to them and you'll just like their general personalities. Now let's talk about the technical aspect. What was good in season 1 has mostly stayed the same in season 2. The art is still good. The animation is still fluid and actually choreographed. So the battles are still as dazzling. The voice acting changed a bit. I went on to rewatch some of season 1 and noticed how Tanya (Aoi Yuuki) always put on a way higher, kiddy, voice that's basically gone in this season. I guess it doesn't matter too much but I wonder if Aoi Yuuki just she forgot to do the voice or if Tanya just aged out of it (she's 13 by 1927). Anyway, I'm pretty biased towards Youjo Senki because it appeals to my exact niche, so maybe a 10 isn't the perfect reflection of it, but I think the show is still clever enough for most to enjoy and if you've liked what you've read here, then you'll probably like both seasons.

Given that it has been almost a decade since the first season, I was surprised that it was even getting a second season. Tanya has always been a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I think it does a decent job of writing compelling military tactics and strategy. This season in particular also focused more on the dichotomy between the military officers and politicians and their disagreements. It also tried to lean into portraying war as, to a degree, futile similarly to All Quiet on the Western Front, although it fails to meet the degree of hopelessness the book, and the movies instill in you. Tanya's weakest point has always been that it is trying to be an Isekai. Being X always has felt tacked on in a weird meta sense. Tanya herself is trying to rebel against the idea of God in a primarily theocratic society from the point of view of an Atheist. That struggle to me has always been weakened by the fact that 'God' as an extremely powerful being that can essentially control fate (Being X) actually does exist. In a sense then I think unintentionally this ends up turning what might have been meant as a rejection of the idea of God as a case study into more of someone running from reality. Tanya's cursing of Being X would probably be stronger if it was just the idea of God instead, with one not being proven to exist. This would give her point of view some material credence. I imagine someone might ask me how the magic system is supposed to work, but given that from the research I've done it hasn't been fully explained yet, I don't think this would provide any issue or plot twists yet that could not be explained by society falling into a 'god of the gaps' fallacy in their understanding of what magic actually is in the world. Besides that, the series still has some sub-par quality CGI especially with its tanks. Additionally, I do not understand the need to have an unresolved cliffhanger ending. I would be completely unsurprised (as of the time of this writing) if it took another 10 years to get a third season or if we won't be getting a third season at all. This is the danger with cliffhangers for any TV series. I consider Tanya to have a lot of wasted potential, while this series does succeed as a regular sequel season to a show, it ultimately does not address most of the shortcomings I had with the first season. Ultimately though, this series is beholden to its source material and most of my critiques are more to do with that. This show to my understanding is to a fault, loyal to its source in spite of its flaws, which I do find to a degree commendable. If you already like Isekai, you will probably enjoy Tanya. Tanya is better than most 'gimmick' Isekai out there. However in a more critical sense it does not stand out with the specific kind of story it is trying to tell. Anime such as Jin-Rou, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, or films such as All Quiet on the Western Front and Full Metal Jacket all do many of the things Tanya tries to do as a show but consistently better. Even to a degree, I would argue the first novel for Ender's Game gets its message across stronger. For others who also watch as a critic, in order to enjoy the show it is important to keep such expectations tempered in order to be able to maintain your enjoyment.

While the first season focused heavily on battles, this second one centers more on politics; yet, I still enjoyed it—after all, when war negotiations stall and poor decisions are made, public opinion inevitably comes into play. The protagonist still longs for a peaceful life, but faces only further complications; the series features more introspective conversations, and he remains true to his convictions and pride—he continues to be a standout element. The battles, though few in number, are thrilling and boast excellent animation; there is a palpable sense that the tide could turn—leading to victory or defeat—at any moment. This second season lived up to expectations and left me wanting even more.

We had to wait 9 years for this shit... 9 years of it being in my top 10 animes of all time... i have been tortured for 9 years just HOPING AND COPING... and in the end of these 9 years we finally got another season... AND GODDAMNIT WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT If you want my honest opinion from the beginning then YES this is absolutely worth watching! In this review i am gonna be expecting you to have watched at least a bit of S1 or have already watched the whole anime up to the latest ep. If you know anything about Youjo Senki the anime s1 then you know that it is a great adaptation of an amazing light novel. The story is an amazing mix of deep war strategies inspired by real life historical events and purely insane ariel combat. The anime adaption on the other hand takes the insanity part of the story and purely enhances it with chaotic animation, amazing soundtrack, and creative additions which show how much love they have put into this adaptation. And by far the most outstanding part about the anime adaptation is that... its a light novel adaptation... yet i actually rarely got confused while watching the story. If you know anything about LN anime adaptations, then you probably know how confusing these can get. Yet it seems like the directors actually did an amazing job on this one to a point where i wasn't almost at all confused while watching it even tho i am an anime only. These and many other things are the reason as to why Youjo senki made it to my top 10 anime's of all time with only 1 season, an OVA and a movie. Now after 9 years of waiting what do you think S2 did? Normally you would expect it to not even get a S2 after 9 years so i was actually kinda scared going into this. I was expecting this season to be a bit of a drop from the amazing quality of S1, but it seems like my worries were all for nothing because Youjo Senki S2 was just as great as S1, if not even greater! I didn't notice a single bit of drop in the anime adaptations quality even when i did a re watch and the story has actually gotten even more insane! (If you haven't completed S2 then everything past this will be me criticizing the story and YES i will be spoiling parts that i did not like so it will def have spoilers. Go watch S2 and maybe come back and read the rest of this review but for now you are done here!!!!) Now i am gonna be really picky about my criticism because this was a near perfect season for me so don't take it too harshly. The part that disappointed me by far was the ending ofc. Even Youjo Senki S1 had a cliffhanger at the end but i really don't want them to continue on like that. They didn't explain Zettour's reasoning for attacking Ildoa at all except with a few shots of being X implying that this was done by him. But i still think that this is a pretty boring explanation as to why Zettour literally betrayed his own best friend. It would be good if they explain it in the future but this is still a very bland and shitty way to end the season. This type of ending also leaves no room for speculations. Like maybe if they had dropped a little bit of hints for Zettour's reasoning then i would have had a room to speculate and make predictions but for now all i got was that "It was being X who did it hehehehe". Even S1's ending wasn't as bad as this one since that one at least didn't leave us on a mystery with no hints and explained everything well. Another criticism for the story was how Mary Sue's character has been handled so far. She basically went from being the most insane lunatic that symbolized absolute justice from the movie to just being the weekly villain that Tanya has to defeat every interaction. Her character development is close to none and it feels like her platoon has somehow accepted that she just doesn't listen to orders at all and let it slide. This is very stupid since a soldiers most important job is following orders and she has so far done none of that nor has she even come close to getting any consequences for her mistakes. Her character indeed should have just ended in the movie in my opinion but i guess the writer has other plans for her in the future. In conclusion this season has been nothing but pure bliss for me and i just want the next season to not take as long to release as this one. My exact rating is somewhat between 8.25 to 8.75. Thx for reading!!!!

Episode 8 of S1 is still where this show peaked for me that brutal story and a beautiful somber new ending song to go along with it really punches in that episodes message well. Unfortunately I wouldn’t really say I liked the next arc much and that general meh vibe I had towards the content being shown carried through S2 as well. Lots of yapping with this season though luckily we did not get another COTE S4 situation since this time the yapping was going somewhere the bigger issue is that the characters delivering the dialogue are not the best. I do not find anybody besides Tanya to be particularly memorable characters and since this season is trying really hard to be a political drama that definitely holds it back. Throw in some slow pacing and a general lack of action scenes and you get a bit of an underwhelming season but not a bad one! The sound design is still as incredible as always, the animation remains high quality and the voice cast are all acting their butts off rent was due and they got paid. I still enjoyed this season as a solid 7/10 but eh it could have been better especially given the wait.

Season 2 slows down the story to focus on the psychology and systems that continue war in a radical departure from the first season. For that, it is hard to recommend to a wider audience, it is the definition of a niche product. As someone who enjoys that niche, it's great. It delves into why people and systems want to keep fighting a war despite everyone knowing its bad But if you are here for action and cool fights, this season is very bad for that The best analogy I can came up with is season 1 is a battle, it's got cool fights and heroism. Season 2 on the other hand is the after action duties, you treat your wounds, mourn the fallen and think over the life choices you made that led you to be bleeding in a war zone

While in the first season and movies the chuuni obsession with Germany could be ignored, the new season doesn't let that happen by really leaning into anti-communist propaganda right from episode 1 for some reason. Tanya even says that she hated them in her previous life too. Despite the little note about not having anything to do with real life or events, the anime still features twisted capital names (ex: Londinium) and renamed countries with their real life borders, all while basing the story on the World Wars. This whole anti-communist rant seem really out of place once you remember that the German side never faced any such criticism this whole time. On the contrary, it is portrayed as striving for peace and struggling in a defensive war, while treating the people in occupied territories strictly in accordance with international law (all far from historic reality). In fact, no other nation gets the same vocal and direct hatred as the "Federation," despite there being plenty of points to criticize about their actions, decisions, or ruling systems. Then there's Gorbachev who is portrayed as a creepy lolicon for some reason lol. Now, I never expected it to be historically accurate, with flying mages and all, and it doesn't need to be. But it is close enough to real history to be recognizable, and this season is going out of its way to explicitly demonize one side, which sits really weirdly (more so when you know real history). And so the author's little germanboo obsession starts becoming annoying because it's so in your face. Furthermore, a kid or someone not educated enough might take these at face value as facts or subconscious beliefs that later help shape their worldview. Quite repulsive overall. There is also EXCESSIVE smoking in the first half to the point of it reading like one big advertisement. It feels like a recent trend among new releases, and you have to wonder who is financing that... Pacing - Decent in the first half, gets quite dull in second, gets entertaining again in the last episode. Animation - Still looks good, they didn't lower the quality from season one. Overall the plot is a typical anti communist propaganda with smoking ads and some fighting sprinkled in. Doesn't even come close in engagement to first season.

My comment isn't going to be so much about the series itself, but about what a sore loser God is in that world. In the first season, Being X seemed like a more reasonable being. He abandons the MC in a new world, and she makes her way through it. Things go well for her. She succeeds without depending on anything or anyone. That's when Being X starts getting involved. But the MC keeps coming out on top. That's when Being X decides to intervene even more, starts leaking information, and creates fanatical soldiers. And even then, whether through luck, guts, or sacrifice, the MC keeps winning. I can't help but think that Being X is just an arrogant idiot who doesn't know when he's wrong. All he's doing is giving the MC even more reasons to reject his existence as a divine being. Now, about Mary Sue... this character makes no sense. She doesn't follow orders, abandons her comrades, and every time she gets involved, more people die than necessary. At this point, in the real world, she would've already been discharged, locked up, or "died in an accident."

Another season of the Nazi loli after all these years. She’s crazier than ever, but also more involved in politics. I liked it. The best part, for me, was the improved animation compared to the first season; I liked how they captured that duality—she enjoys what she does, yet she’s also an exploited worker who never gets a break. It’s interesting how she feels she has no other choice—even though, with her knowledge, she could do other things—but she hates communists and loves death and destruction. The animation is great, and the soundtrack is handled very well too; the ending theme is exquisite. On the other hand, the new Italian characters felt a bit ugly or lacking something, whereas the Russian characters were well-designed. I highly recommend it—it’s a loli trying to survive while her country attempts to conquer Europe. En español: Otra temporada de la loli nazi despues de mucho años. Vemos que sigue mas loca que nunca pero mas politica. Me gusto.

Youjo Senki II follows the first season and movie with a great adaptation. It started before the massive wave of generic isekai anime and, to this day, is definitely one of the most interesting ones. If you are thinking about watching the second season, first and most importantly, you should watch the movie; it is canon and puts you back on the anime storyline since the first season was long ago. The story goes deeper into the Empire politics and the relation with other countries. There are battles, yes, but from my pov, politics is what makes this anime more interesting, and this season is full of it. It is not an anime that I would choose to watch while eating, or when I want to fall asleep, it catches my attention and feelings. Animation 7/10 - its a good animation but nothing special Story 9/10 - Politics and plots are phenomenal Characters 7/10 - I honestly wish they focus on other characters aside from the mc. This season only her and Zettour had some kind of development. Pace 8/10 - Didnt feel it was a slow nor a rapid adaptation, but some episode hangers could be better. Origniallity 9/10 - It is not something you can find anywhere

The 2nd season of Saga of Tanya the Evil ; continues the story of Tanya Degurechaff cynical war chronicles living up to the high-stakes military tension of the first season. It did not disappoint it actually improved on the 1st season. - Story 9/10 - The world war conflict gets more in-depth focusing heavily on grand strategy political chess and the grinding machinery of combat rather than just flashy fights. It treats Tanya not as a hero but as a fascinating psychological study of an unhinged hyper-logical salaryman trapped in a child's body ... a sociopath mindset. The ideological clash between the Atheist vs. God Feud drives Tanya frustrated furious outbursts as she tries to outsmart divine intervention through sheer military efficiency - Pacing 7/10 - Some episodes trade nonstop aerial shootouts for heavy tactical briefings and geopolitical maneuvering ; this filters out viewers who only want mindless action, but rewards fans of military strategy - Production 10/10 - Studio Nut maintains the distinct gritty aesthetic dark color palettes and intense explosive magical warfare sequences that made the original adaptation stand out Lieutenant Audience ! This makes me so hype for next season ; one of the most interesting and well made war series anime. Well done Studio Nut , looking forward to future productions you make and hopefully a season 3 of Tanya the Evil !

I really love this series, but since 8–10 years have passed since the first season, this new installment didn’t satisfy me. I was disappointed because my expectations were too high. My excitement fizzled out. To be honest, I was thinking of giving the studio a piece of my mind about this, but I guess all the blame lies with Kadokawa. I’d give them a good rant, but unfortunately, the community rules don’t allow it. If I’m not mistaken, the fact that there’s no sequel to *No Game No Life* is these idiots’ fault—but that’s not the point here. I have a very basic question: why were 12 episodes planned, and who decided the pacing of the episodes? Frankly, the anime felt like one big fan service—everything was as it should be, but when I think about it, this isn’t what the series deserved. I’m also not sure about the series’ main focus—is it Tanya’s conflict with God, her conflict as a soldier, or the diplomatic games unfolding in the background? Something happened, but nothing really happened—I guess we’ll just have to get used to this again this year. The effects, the opening, and the ending were great. I’d have liked to see Tanya go even more off the rails, and the woman who’s her complete opposite gets on my nerves every time she appears on screen—they’ve portrayed her as such a jerk that she really fulfills her role. I don’t know what the problem is—is it that I can’t see what I want to see, or am I seeing the series differently than how I’d imagined it, or is it just the years that have passed? Or maybe it’s just me. I hope the next season comes out soon; I don’t want to wait another 10 years for a show of this caliber. All I’m left with is disappointment, but I definitely recommend it—you should watch it. I hope I can continue to remember this series fondly.

nine fucking years later and tanya is still trying to retire from a war (HR is the villian once more) ✨ THE GOOD : (war crimes, logestics and one very pissed-off salaryman) exactly why you f*cking love it , war isn't a cool backdrop for magic explosions, strategy, logistics, political bullsh*t! and sheer stupidity from people with authority to send thousands of soldiers to their deaths tanya is still tanya and yes it f*cking matters! more room to breat overall and i guess it's worth the time 🧠 TANYA AIN'T THE MC PROBLEM: she still the face of the show, but the war itself starts stealing the spotlight suddenly we're watching an entire f*cking geopolitical disaster unfold around this mf tiny homicidal salaryman but if you came back expecting season 1 tanya simulator 2.0 ,wich i did oh! boy ! it's diffrent! 🙄 FOR HOW F*CKING LONG THIS DAMN WAR WILL LAST PROBLEM: pacing drag its boots through the mud tiny ladies and ugly gentelmens we're stretching over here and you'll here us explaining the same f*cking shit for the 47th time 🎯 FINAL VERDICT: it's a way more complicated new sh*t! ✔ watch if: you love military crap and strategic warfare ❌ skip if: you have two brain cells or less 🎤 Best paired with: black coffee and nine years of accumulated impatience, also the realization that tanya's greatest enemy it's f*cking HR.

Who said season 1 is better? Isekai fans are eating well this season. Man, this anime is so amazing. After a nine-year hiatus, Youjo Senki is finally back, and honestly, it was worth the wait. The animation is solid, the story is staying faithful to the light novel, and I really respect that. The animation might not be as good as the movie's, but it gives me the same vibes as Season 1. Maintaining that atmosphere after nearly a decade can't have been easy, but they nailed it. And if you think Season 1 was better, believe me, you might just be blinded by nostalgia. I rewatched Season 1 before moving on to Season 2, and honestly, they're almost on the same level. The story is progressing really well, and the latest episodes have been unpredictable and dramatic. I genuinely didn't expect some of those developments. And Tanya is still Tanya. We don't necessarily need a bunch of equally powerful or complicated characters when the entire story revolves around one protagonist. Tanya is the spotlight, and the story knows exactly how to use her. That's one of its biggest strengths. The voice acting, OST, and sound effects are fantastic, especially during the gunfights. The sound design makes those scenes even more satisfying, and the visuals are consistently enjoyable. The worldbuilding is strong, the animation looks great, and the whole thing is just fun to watch. Honestly, I don't have much to complain about. After waiting nearly nine years, getting a season this good feels incredible. If you're an isekai fan, you HAVE to watch this. Youjo Senki deserves way more attention than it's getting. Tanya is back, the war is still brutal, and I'm absolutely here for it.

This is a great second season. It is slower than the first season but still manages to fit in a lot of cool events into its story. The second half of this season is even slower and has a bit of a tonal shift. This tonal shift is one from a setting where some Tanya interventions could save everything to one where the war weariness of the population and how that affects politics takes front stage. I always thought that it could be doable to salvage the situation and to have peace but this season does an amazing job showing the sheer despair of the situation. I would definitely recommend this season unless the only part that appealed to you was the action and fighting since there's less of that in parts of this season.

The only thing I can complain about regarding this season is that there weren't enough insults directed at communists; otherwise, it was absolute cinema 🗿 While the ending caught me off guard a bit, it makes some sense given the characters' behavior. The ending, while it caught me off guard a bit, actually makes some sense given how the characters behaved throughout the story. The ending, while it caught me off guard a bit, actually makes some sense given how the characters behaved throughout the story. What? MyAnimeList? You want my ID number? Social Security number? Just saying "it's cinema"—because it *is* cinema—should be enough; let me be, I'm a free elf, let me speak for the Empire. Are you part of the Russy Federation? Do I really need 1,000 characters to state such an obvious fact? 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣

The second season sought to humanize the protagonist—not deliberately, but rather to ensure we understand and accept the reasons behind her actions. Meanwhile, the politics and the wartime setting undergo more rigorous critical scrutiny; this refutes the view prevalent during the long wait for the sequel—which dismissed the series as war propaganda featuring a radical heroine. Although inspired by the context of World War II (despite chronologically beginning in a period equivalent to World War I—a fact that opens up interesting avenues for analysis), the issues and situations presented are original, avoiding the need to recycle clichés from other works or simply copy and paste actual historical facts.
