Link Click Season 2
whiteflame55
So, before I get started, yes, this season was really good. It's Link Click, and the gripping game of cat-and-mouse being played was as good as the likes of Summer Time Rendering and other series that pull off this kind of push and pull with aplomb. I recommend watching this season, but I'm going to be spending much of this review criticizing where I think it falls short, particularly compared with S1, so I wanted to lay this all out first. There are a few things holding this season back from something I would call truly great. Its reliance on one narrative throughline means we spend a great deal of time with these characters in this setting fighting this battle. In fact, we revisit the same moments over and over again from different perspectives and with different information, which does a lot to inform the scenes, but lends itself to much slower pacing as we retrace our steps and explain events. The series also doesn't have the kind of subtlety that a series like The Tatami Galaxy does when it comes to giving you hints at something it will explain later. As soon as the characters encounter something that's unexplained, it's made pretty obvious what it is and we have at least a general idea of how it's going to happen. Sometimes that's good since it makes it easier to follow the action and keep up with various moves in a complex environment. Other times, it ends up making the backtracking feel excessive and unnecessary, and especially when some of the concepts here are a little more opaque and difficult to parse, it seems like they could have spent the time elsewhere and been more effective. So there's a lot of hit and miss with the direction of the narrative. The other factor that affects the story is the characters involved, particularly the antagonists and new side characters that are introduced. Some of them are particularly well set-up and interesting, some feel like they're just there to evoke maximum sympathy (they don't exactly leave you guessing), and some feel... inconsistent. I don't mind having a nice villainous villain, but one of the main ones in this story seemed to jump from cold, careful and calculating to over-the-top emotional and impetuous. The antagonists are clearly damaged people, and while that works pretty well for one of them, I can't say the same for the other, and since a lot of the plot of this season is driven by the latter, it's a bit underwhelming where we end up with him. But, like I said at the start, I think this season does more than enough right to deserve a recommendation, including paving the way for events to come in the next season. It's not up to the standard of S1, where I think the emotional beats just hit harder and yield more interesting and consistent individual narratives with solid themes as connective tissue, but it still manages to dig deeper on the abilities of our protagonists and confront them with someone who is ready and willing to misuse their gifts in sharp contrast to them. It's a good direction to take the series, I just wish we got more out of the experience.

Before we even get started, I must suggest viewing the entire 1st season. The two are so intricately woven together, it would be nearly impossible to understand what is going on, otherwise. Don't worry, it will be well worth your effort! In large part because this 2nd season is so well set up by season 1, the writers can get right into the meat of the story and not waste a lot of time about it. And the writing is awesome. This is one fine tale they are telling here. It's like being a kid on Christmas Day. The writers provide us with one awesome surprise after another. But they don't feel contrived or cliche. They all fall right in line with everything else the story has to offer. The characters really get some serious development in the 2nd series. While not bad in the 1st season, they may seem a little underdeveloped. But everything that may have gone missing gets thoroughly examined this season. These characters get so fleshed out, they are positively chunky. The VA work is once again commendable. The direction might even be better this season. There are so many more pieces that need to be concisely fit together to make it work. Once again, a stellar job. Two solid links can make an unbreakable chain. If I was grading the second season, it's even better than the first and rates a 97/100, a full solid A. It's definitely in masterwork territory and the entire 2 season story deserves your undivided attention.

What can I say other than that it's by far the anime of the season, and obviously one of the best anime overall that I've seen. The first season was a big surprise, the scriptwriting, visual and musical quality and so I was impatiently awaiting this sequel; and the wait was worth it! The events that take place this season are told in such a poignant and moving way, I was sad about Li Tianxi and what could also have happened to his mother and brother, I wanted to break my screen to protect them I had the impression of experiencing the thing with it and it was terrible, then you feel powerless since you are just a spectator. The Chinese voices are truly incredible and the OST fits perfectly with the appropriate scenes. The animation is not to be outdone with impactful and magnificently animated combat scenes (for my part I loved it) and the storyline is superb just like the first season with once again an ending that we would like to be able to watch the rest of. it was so captivating and breathtaking! ( Sorry for my English :) )

I had a hard time reviewing this show because there is a lot of merit to it that comes from its interesting plotline which has a lot of scope for some fun things to do. But a main demerit is to keep it interesting without making it too unpredictable. Back in 2021, S1 blew out of nowhere along with another unexpected gem. No one expected for some chinese anime (donugha) to blow up amidst some extremely popular shows like To Your Eternity, Vivy, 86, Tokyo Revengers etc. While the show is praised for being a fine thriller, I particularly don't like this part of the show. A big issue with this show is it's unpredictability. While that works in favor of the plot to grow, it doesn't seem to end. We have yet to have a clear picture on how the powers are getting manifested, though a clear trigger has been established. Or how many more characters are there to explore. While that feels exciting on its own, I can't help but fear it gets boring eventually. But one thing that I really like is it's strong storytelling, particularly the emotional part. The show never fails to bring you into the psyche of its characters with powerful visuals, portraying some of the best psychological depiction of loss, helplessness, trauma, envy, along others. It also doesn't back down in crafting thrilling scenes with captivating narrative and a much thicker plot devoid of the episodic storytelling as in S1. This season steeped up a bit in action department. There's a fair share of fluid hand combat scenes that's kind of rare territory in action in anime. A lot of anime or manga tend to focus more on the weapon based, magic based battles that got very generic. While not the most amazing, the action scenes in Link Click deserve a praise for just giving a good hand to hand brawl, and quite a lot of them too. The characters grew in number too, especially those with plot relevance. The main characters of this show are definitely the Li siblings. Their backstory, while not innovative in theme, stills pulls an effective depiction of violence and trauma. That people can go different ways despite living under the same roof, yet always trying to protect the other. We also got a tease of sort about Lu Guang, and that we still don't know anything about his past. Maybe S3 explores him, hopefully. Though there are some characters that just felt not well utilized or straight up irritating. Like that bodyguard that only seem to be there just to constantly mock everyone, or the lady subordinate who had like one cool fight and got hit in the head. I seriously felt for Li Xiao though, man went through so much grief this season. The character study behind the lawyer was interesting, and a bit similar in tone with the sibling story, but he too became a little madman in the end. The grandpa was cool tho. Conclusion Overall, I like this season more than S1. It feels balanced in everything it set out to do, with a few inconveniences that are just rooted to S1. No hate to S2, but I really missed S1 OP and ED.

Yes yes yes this is what we have been waiting for !!! The atmosphere is completely different and better than the other seasons. People have been begging for it and they got it. A good story, emotional, plottwist and more crying . Intro music video is epic. Both song and the actually video. Outtro is cool too but the intro is best. The way they editd is uniq its own way. Drawing style has changed a little bit too, still not my style but then story kept me going so I didnt bother at all😊 And the plottwists in this season is amazing. I have been watching non stop for 12 hours, cauae i also had to make dinner in between, so you should also watch it !!!!

Ah, the long awaited 2nd season of Link Click, which has divided a lot of fans because the mostly happy vibe the 1st season had... has been replaced by angst, sadness and one tragedy after the other. The execution is up to debate, but this shift was very big. The story starts right after last episode ended and it honestly... never lets up. The focus is only on the mystery killer, so there's no "case of the week" but a continuous effort to find them and put an end to it. Every episode is intense on its own way from touching sensitive topics such as abuse to seeing likable characters meeting their demise, which at the moment you get sucked into the events, but after thinking about it, a lot of events seem very convenient and driven by final goal of creating more angst. This season manages to be fast-paced, but at the same time slow. You reach towards the last few episodes and realize that things could have gone way faster instead of just dragging the heavy atmosphere endlessly. However, the story keeps rewarding your patience with enough tidbits of information, more lore and heavenly choreographed and animated action. It cannot be just me that loves watching them all fight. It raised the question for me as to how everyone is basically a master of martial arts, but getting all this eyecandy makes it enough to not dig too deep into that. You get to see new characters and basically the story revolves around the people you see on the poster only. There are enough twists to make you rethink scenes and events and there is so much sadness in backstories, that you will need tissues. They make it work well with interconnecting almost everything; there might be an insignificant detail and 2 episodes later you go "Ahhh, now it all makes sense" and even by the end of the series, you'll get hit with more twists, cliffhangers and details. So, of course we will be getting a season 3! The characters... well, they are mostly bleak. Almost every episode feels like time is running out and there is more angst by the second that you don't get to smile a lot. Gone are the happy people from season 1. This is all about testing their boundaries and their thinking skills, which is my main problem. The main trio will either be overly smart or overly stupid. Depends on what the plot demands and it gets frustrating to see them going from one extreme end to the other just for more drama. We also have our old and new villains and their motive is explained pretty thoroughly (and naively). It is most interesting how warped a character can get due to circumstances or your own mind. All I can say is that this season really gut-punches you with every character. Visual/Sound-wise, this series is a gem. OP/ED are tracks that you will keep listening on repeat and visually, it brings its best self. I already mentioned the beautifully choreographed fight scenes, which need to be the most detailed, however the series pays attention to everything and gives a flair when it tries to convey metaphorical messages. It is honestly surprisingly how well it kept up the quality (at least to my eyes!). If it wasn't made clear enough, this season is out to get you. Sometimes it might be too much, but for the most part it worked well. My fear is how convoluted the plot will get if it keeps spiraling with more super powers and time traveling and all that, but as a whole, it was a very good experience.

This is 2/175 of trying to watch every single Time Travel anime on MAL Link Click season 2, I loved this season just as much as the first, it takes the base of the first season, and escalates the conflict, it's great What It's About ------------------- This season follows Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang in a constant state of turmoil, where they have to avoid another person with powers similar to theirs. The season mostly follows lots of suspense sequences, with the team looking to try and foil the villains plans to kill Cheng Xiaoshi and take his powers. Leading up to a climactic final fight What I Liked ---------------- I liked this season just as much as the first, I'll admit, it was a pretty drastic change in tone from the first season, but I think it was a step in the right direction. Unlike the first season, this season has an actual villain the team is trying to avoid. The villain is really good, they have a backstory that makes sense but you still have a reason to hate them for what they're doing. I feel bad for them yet I hate them at the same time, which in my opinion makes the perfect villain. This season has more action then the first, and they are great. They feel like they are backed on substance and don't feel like the characters are fighting just to fight. The sequences themselves are really well choreographed. One thing I also appreciate is how smart the main cast is. It's super satisfying seeing the protagonists outsmart the villain with a well thought out plan, which I feel not many shows do. The climax of the show is also really good. The music, like the first season, is also a highlight, with the OP being even better than season 1 in my opinion. My personal favorite song in the s2 soundtrack is "Earth". What I Disliked ------------------- Like the first season, not much. Like before there is a lot of cliffhangers. I could also see the sudden tone shift in the show being jarring to some, but I personally liked it. Overall --------- Really nice step up from the first season, great suspense and action, really stands out to me.

The second season of Link Click completely changes the genre of the series and instead of sad dramatic memories, we dive into the dark waters of a crime story. The plot definitely adds to the tension, drama and urgency, but it also retains strong touching moments - the creators know exactly when to "hit the jackpot". I sat glued to the series and enjoyed it immensely, just like the first season. The creators are keeping an eye on the storyline and I feel that I understood everything and explained everything that was necessary (except for the snippets left for the next season, of course). I must also praise the opening, which was breathtaking, as was this entire story. The characters work wonderfully here and I must appreciate how beautifully they were able to refer to a few points from the previous series. I am absolutely amazed...

Another banger. **Please be sure to watch season 1 before reading this.** It's not perfect, but pretty darn close. One thing this does so well, is immediately capsulate your attention, and then give you plot twists. All BS aside (blah blah, it's Chinese, best Chinese anime ever) can we just focus on what we watched lol. It was fantastic. The art continues from season 1, which was just so refreshing. From coloring, animation, fighting, and frame rate - you will very likely enjoy it. Let's talk about the plot twists, seemingly at every corner. This anime does such a fantastic job at trying to make the viewer feel they know what will happen, then will throw a wrench in there. But in a good way. You will think you know the ending, but will be wrong (again). I think that's what makes this so enjoyable, is the surprise effect. I wish I could re-watch this and season 1 again as if I never saw it lol. The story definitely has more references to the past, and specifically, to the new antagonists. There's less of those sides stories for sure. It's certainty different from season 1, but I don't think that's a bad thing. It gives more background into the new characters, and who they are. Less about the mains, and more about the antagonists, but in a good way. I actually enjoyed knowing more about who they are, and what drove them to the way they are. If you enjoyed season 1, you will still very likely enjoy this, and therefore, I highly recommend it.

After the success of S1, I was really looking forward to S2. My only challenge was that I simply don't have speed reading as a superpower. Donghuas are notoriously fast spoken and them subtitles eye wateringly fast. I opted to wait for the dub... so sue me. For those interested in dub review: it's pretty damn solid. Chen Xiaoshi's English VA is Alejandro Saab & Lu Guang is acted by Zeno Robinson. They are both heavyweight voice actors, with very impressive resumes. The rest of the cast was also good, with only a few moments (some female cast) that I cringed a bit. Overall I was glad I waited for the dub as the story is action packed and I would never have been able to keep up with the pace of subs. Link Click is obviously a quality production, much effort has been made from everything from music, animation, voice acting, the occasional use of 3D to a really spectacular storyline. This season they pushed the envelope, it's more edgy, action-packed and graphic than last and they took quite a few creative risks. I commend them for making these changes considering how popular last season was. They could have simply continued with the same formula. Some will not enjoy S2 for this reason. Music was yet again epic, and the opening song will be stuck in my head for some time. For me it fit in well with the dub as song lyrics are also in English. Overall I am impressed with quality, creativity and daring. 9/10

I've kept myself from watching this whole show, and i am indeed happy that atleast i got to watch it in one go after it aired. The decline in score is crazy to be honest. Now probably taking in mind you have seen the first season you're jumping in from a massive cliffhanger. The ending of the first season left us in dissaray, where could this go? Well it was obvious that the whole mystery was the new plot for this thing, but what the fuck. Without telling too much the whole season is only but only focused on where we left off in season 1 and it might be confusing getting into it but it builds up pretty quickly. The whole organization of the episodes changed. Instead of solving a story each episode we were left with fighting scenes and massive cliffhangers which is a lot of the reason why many people disliked it contrary to the first season. But i mean come on, it's your dopamine receptors not having enough of it if you seriously cannot suddenly handle this season being revolved around a single arc. So yes in the end it differs a lot from what you have seen in the first season, but it builds a great story and direction where we get to see the end of our protags and be happy and from what we've seen this will be a great 9/10 anime------ That's what i thought to myself first. You see the second half takes on a shape finally putting all the pieces together and we are finally getting somewhere towards the end, and i'm going to be completely honest, there were moments that made me say that even towards the end there is still alot of cutting corners. BUT THE FUCKING LAST TWO EPISODES. Like come on the sudden turn it gets and finally everything connects it was like a reward for something, i haven't neccessarily found the ending sad as some people did, i was more shocked with how it ended. It build up so much to blow you away and the final scene of the last episode even sets the excitement and pleasure so high considering we will be getting a new season next year. Yes the realization of this is crazy but, the show hasn't even ended. All in all i'm speaking for both seasons in saying that the writing, direction and the ost were one of the best i have ever seen. Please if you've read it this far even if it's only one person that reads this being worried about the decline in rating and the negative reviews, do not let this get to you and build your own opinion. Please trust me if you have the patience and can withstand the amount of information getting into your head this is so worth it and you can get into it with big expectations because this is so worth it.

I honestly enjoyed s2 more than S1. S2 isn’t focused on the multiple stories as much anymore, and instead focuses on the twins and the police officers (including qj) giving us way more depth about the now main antag(s),since we switched from multiple stories to a big one. They properly gave us a lot of info at the right times to make us question, and I love how they aren’t ever unintentional or unnecessary. If you think there’s a hole, you’re probably wrong. After finishing this season that is clear to me. It WILL come up at some point… I really enjoy the cliffhangers we are left with on every ep/scene, its enjoyable to think about what will happen next without it being apparent at all, and theorizing about the next episodes while they were airing was super fun. Might not be everyones 10, but it definitely deserves credit. Official arts, endings, openings, they all have meaning to the story, and if you’re someone that likes to put things together this season is definitely worth it. Can’t wait for s3.

Continuing on from the absolute masterpiece of a s1 this show just doesn’t derail and only gets better in my opinion - not only does the animation look even better than the first season from the start but holy damn the opening and ending of this season stand out as some of the best sounding and visually insane op and Ed’s I’ve witnessed - it’s just soo soo worthwhile watching this and it’s so easy to get invested into this - the season carry’s on being a heartbreaking show especially what happens to a certain charachter at the end of the season - this season takes what makes the first one so good and makes it better and also it takes qiao lings charachter and makes her one of my favourite characters - love to see her get a lot of spotlight this season - just straight up gripping television and continues to be my favourite out of the Chinese lot

This season was a step up in some things but a let down in some others. The main difference is that while S1 is episodic and deals with short but emotional stories, S2 is serialized and the plot is way more involved. The step up was definitely in the music, Vortex is a really unique piece of music that I recommend to listen to (and watch the visuals!) even if you're not a Link Click fan. The animation was also definitely better and dynamic, which is to be honest not that much of an improvement as S1 had great animation already, but it deserves it's spot here. The let down? My main and biggest complaint is simply the sharp transition between an episodic and meaningful show to a full on action thriller. The season 2 story is good and well written just as S1, but no matter what I can't shake off the sudden change. There were only a few of the S1 aspects in it. The ending of S1 did hint at the show becoming more serialized though so, what can I say. Also, some scenes felt dragged out like the fighting scenes, and on the contrary it seemed like things kept happening without much explanation. Although, the ending of the season does wrap things up nicely, with a whole different plot twist that feels actually logical. Overall, it's a really high quality season but it just doesn't get close to what made S1 so special.
Otaku_Senpai
This season is beautifully animated as before but I am a bit disappointed in the direction the series have taken. It is mainly a suspense and thriller now. But in season 1 it was primarily a drama. But I prefer it when it was less intense in season one, focusing on the Drama aspect. The kind of show it started out as, I believe, it never needed a villain with supernatural abilities who would become their nemesis. The show just didn't need a villain. Yet season 2 decided otherwise, or rather it started from end of season 1. Season 2 has an excellent OP but I still prefer the simpler OP from season One, the one with the finger dance. I missed that in this season. In summary its still a very good show, but I like season 1 much more.

So we’ve officially entered the Liu Cixin era of Chinese science fiction, huh? Link Click S2 is interesting because its biggest flaw was the end of the previous season. Ending on a cliffhanger, the main idea for why the cliffhanger worked was to set into play more mystery. There’s emotional implications too, but it feels overshadowed. And that’s exactly how I would describe season two. While attempts are made to keep the emotional core of the story, the number of twists and turns make it feel insignificant. Link click as of now feels like an anime stuck between two worlds, with incredible mystery thriller twists, but with character writing that just isn’t perfected for the type of story they try to tell. I’ve seen people say that link click always ended on cliffhangers and how that excited them so much and I agree, but as we move into season three, I feel like the dedication to cliffhangers, twists, and mystery while juggling emotional topics like trauma, depression, and abuse has run its course. When the thriller is at its finest, link click is a gripping tale of 400 IQ plays and mystery. And while for a regular angsty character focused show, the writing would be very good, in the context of such massive implications it doesn’t hit the mark.

1st another season with a" i don't know what will happen ending"... 2nd the consistency especially in end eps is just mind bogling ..... 3rd again great songs ..... . though in the middle parts in this when grandpa power rangers come it did become a bit slow for me and some parts where it feels like they are talking too much but but what surprises it held for the future is just greatttt.. . i love when anime let you think and come to conclusion of what could happen it just invests you more in the plot but boy i can never with these they are random for there outcome and connect each eps with a constantly evolving plot.....which is just great though this season as a whole was not like s1 for me but in no shape or form this is a bad season please watch it if you're planning its as good as the last one.....and loved the cgi intro too fits right with its vibe though i hoped it would change...all n all this is great time travel anime with real life consequences to the characters just makes you feel a bit more about the characters . onto Bridon arc.....cant wait to understand........wtf is happeningggg.. (sub is greatttt (chinese))
