That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie - Scarlet Bond

One word to sum up the film. MID (I promise I tried...) Even though the story was centered around the most interesting characters of the show, the ogres, the film barely touched upon their background. It was very frustrating being shown boring world building of some npc town rather than exploring my kijin waifu's past. Sure it's non-canon, but it would've been amazing if they covered Benimaru and his tribe's history or their adventures, similar to One Piece Film Red. 'Show not tell' was non-existent - it was like taking an exam with the amount of dialogue I was spoon-fed... Wished they trimmed it down a bit. Animation was one of the strong(?) points of the film, but not ground-breaking. It was pretty cool having fights taking place in a castle that closely resembles the one in Laputa making the experience a bit better. The ending... Lets not talk about it... Almost all the characters from season 2 have a bout so overall it's something you won't wanna miss out, but don't expect a masterpiece! :p

it seems there are a lot of upset writers on here but personally I thought it was an amazing movie, there is one thing I agree on tho it did feel like it kept speeding up the pace but it's a movie so at least to me it makes sense they have a designated time slot to fill with the story, and I feel that they did the best with the time they had available. I think most people go into this with the memory of the more well-paced 2nd season but that's a flawed way of looking at it, it's not a season, it's a movie. with all that said the animation was absolutely stunning and seemed like they may have been paid more for this one. If you're a fan absolutely watch, if you're not a fan go watch the main show first, and if you don't like the show... well I don't know what to say to that...

Somehow slow and rushed at the same time. The first half hour tries to establish the new characters, but their motivations are one-dimensional and predictable. There's so much exposition that Rimiru even jokes about there being an info dump on top of another info dump. The villain is super hammy and never conveys much of a threat. His motivations are also contrived and not very clear. Once the action starts it's pretty decent. There's a chase scene that looks very good on the big screen and one fight with Diablos that looks good, but most of the fighting is pretty predictable. The good guys annihilate the bad guys. The conclusion is unsatisfying with multiple unnecessary asspulls for us to arrive at the "happy ending."

This movie just squanders its potential even though it has an interesting premise. The animation is serviceable but certainly not on par with sao progressive, mugen train or even the recent my hero academia movies. Rimuru did not really have anything interesting to do and the powers that he acquired in season 2 wasn’t shown that much because the villain was weak af. If u like this series u probably will watch it regardless of this review and u might have fun but ultimately my expectation for a non canon movie is that it atleast can provide cool moments and good fan service(fight scenes, powers, etc) and this movie did not provide enough of that.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The movie overall is at best mid, at worst complete crap. Movie is very boring to watch, the plot is shallow and the characters are forgettable. There is no struggle or obstacles that our main character and his friends need to resolve, and even when presented with one, they are extremely mild and are treated like a pebble by a river bank. The characters suffer no consequences for their actions, everyone gets away scott-free so often that it makes me think why would there be any challenges to begin with? If I wanted to see nursery rhym, I would have watched Cocomelon instead.

I rarely write reviews but... wow, I'm very disappointed. I feel like I just wasted 2 hours watching this movie, or rather cartoon for kids, because it was so poor. Hahhhh... please give me these 2 wasted hours back. That's all I can say honestly. It was just terrible. I love Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken series but this movie was extremely inferior. It wasn't interesting, it wasn't funny, it wasn't enjoyable. And since I'm sleepy I almost fell asleep watching it. And the music didn't fit in most scenes. 'Someone's dying? - Okay, let's put some circus music there'! Yeah, such a good choice... Such a 'good' choice to watch this movie. Such a 'good' choice to 'spend' 2 hours from your life. Absolutely disappointing.

Actually it's a good movie, but it was below my expectation. The premise of the story is good, but how the story executed was not that good. Our tempest main character didn't receive much of screen time, especially for their fighting scene. They were only shown to finish their enemy in a slash, it's too short. But I think that is because the enemies were too weak af. Our beloved rimuru did a lot flexing moment in this movie. I like that. But rimuru didn't use its power that much, yeah because the enemy was too weak. Diablo vs Violet fight scene was boring. It was very boring for a fight between two primordial demons. I was expect a more intense fight scene between this two primordials. Imho, this scene should be made more intense. The animation quality is standard. Neither too bad nor too good. Overall this movie is still an interesting movie to watch for me as a tensura fan.

tl;dr: A pretty generic filler film that’s decent enough. This is a filler film that takes place after the second season of Tensura. As is generally the case with filler films, most everything it introduces will never be seen again after this film. Surprisingly, there was a pretty major exception to that in that this film is the anime debut of Violet, a character that’s pretty important. And I guess this film also somewhat fleshed out Diablo in ways that hadn’t been gone into in the anime yet. However, at the end of the day, the writing has to be careful not to do anything that will have any impact on the overarching story so it’s not like it did all that much with them. Tensura is at it’s best when it’s combining lots of intricate plot lines and world building so not being able to actually do anything impactful long term is especially hindering as compared to filler films for other anime like battle shounen. Still, I suppose the plot was pretty good within the scope of what it could do. It was pretty simple, straightforward, and somewhat generic, but it was reasonably enjoyable. It didn’t really do much with any of the main cast other than reinforce some character beats a bit, but it did a pretty good job with the two new characters Hiiro and Towa. They don’t really get character arcs either, but how self-sacrificing they are is enough to hold up their character for the span of a film and build up enough investment in them to give the emotional beats in the finale some weight. Though I feel it would have been better to make their relationship more clearly romantic to add a bit more spice to things. The art and animation for the most part were a bit better than the main series, but not dramatically so. The exception to that was the action which was noticeably much better. None of the new character’s designs really stood out that much, and I feel it was a waste not giving everyone new outfits like filler films often do. The soundtrack was decent enough but not particularly memorable. The ED was the standard film white scrolling text on a black background, but the song was pretty good.

WOW! JUST WOW! I've never been so disappointed. I don't write reviews but my disappointment has forced me to do this. Even if you want to watch your favorite characters from the TV series, I will recommend not to waste your precious time watching this movie. Even generic isekai are better than whatever this movie was. Starting from animation and ending in dialogues, All are mid tier at best. There wasn't any plot or anything, not that I remember. Just some meaningless frames moving, voice overs (dialogues) and things like that. I loved the TV series but boy this movie was a disappointment. Let's go over all the points. Story: ?? Animation: 5/10 Dialogues: 3/10 Music: 3/10 Should you watch it? NO! Not even for characters? NO!

Even after excusing all the strange things from the main series presented as normal to the potential first-time viewer, you have a movie that drags on forever, has far too many characters, mind-numbing dialogue, diuretic pacing, terrible color grading, brainless audio balancing, a generic artstyle, and the same mediocre TV quality digital animation that you'd expect from any schlocky seasonal isekai, and not from a feature-length movie that people were expected to pay money to see in theaters. Bottom line: This isn't fun to watch. It's not "so bad it's good". It's not a dumb but entertaining action flick. It's, at best, easy to fall asleep to, and at worst, an annoying reminder that there's an incredibly large audience of people who deliberately choose to dedicate a startling amount of their unpaid attention and time on this earth bankrolling thoughtless media that fails to be fun on even a superficial "keys jingling in your face" level such as this. Watching this movie is like watching paint dry. Low quality badly mixed paint.

Scarlet Bond is a moderately entertaining movie with flashy animation and a subpar plot. It's just mindless fun - there's nothing egregiously bad about it, but your time would probably be better spent doing something else. My main issue is how bland the plot is. The big conflict could have been easily solved if some of the characters were to use their brain or common sense for even five seconds, but for the sake of artificially raising the stakes, they have to follow along with the villain's stupid plans. The new (good) characters are okay - they were occasionally entertaining, and I do like their backstories - though they aren't very memorable or nuanced otherwise. The villain is just annoying. Without spoiling details, the end of the story also has these two "gotchas" that kind of make you feel cheated of a more emotionally impactful ending - you'll know what I mean. So, don't go into this movie expecting a revolutionary story. You can still expect to see some cool fight animations, and of course, Rimuru and the whole gang being badass for brief yet cathartic moments. But that's about it.

thanks to Crunchyroll/Funimation i just saw the English dub in-theater last night and it was a great movie! :> lucky me, the theater was not even 20 miles away. if i wanna go see SAO Progressive Movie 2 i gotta drive a smidge over 50 miles to see that one. :( art and animation weren't 'anime movie quality' but almost as good as TV seasons 1 & 2... there were a few sketchy places like... really REALLY long shots of 'main cast of characters' that were just 'vaguely' drawn and colored so you could 'kinda sorta' tell who was on-screen... but those shots were mostly cinematic sprawling "environmental richness of the background and foreground artists' skills" shots. the story wasn't bad. ghmm... it wasn't as badly written as 'Rimuru-sensei special OAD episodes' at the Academy with the isekai kids were written. but it was ... ahh... not up to par with the ending half of S2 P2 ... Walpurgis and the War Against Clayman etc. so that will give you a bit of a benchmark for the movie's story in context with the rest of the franchise. sound? not bad! :D the theater i was in had one issue. the music tracks were only playing from 1 or 2 speakers i could hear out of my right ear near the screen. so, no stereo surround sound music. but the rest of the audio: SFX, English dub actors etc. were stupendous! once more, the Funi guys (i stayed for the English credits at the end. Mr. Sabat was the boss and they recorded everybody at his OkraTron 5,000 studios in Texas) were excellent! :D if you can, get your butt in a seat and watch this movie! if you can't, my condolences and i hope you get to watch it online/on-disk/some other way.

As a big fan of the slime series I had huge expectations for the film but was a little bit disappointed, the animation and the voice acting were all good and you can expect a feel-good anime movie just as always but I expected some excellent story which the film clearly does not provide. The fight scenes of Rimuru were not that good but the fight between Diablo and Violet was certainly an unexpected one, can't wait for season 3 to be animated. Overall apart from the story you can definitely give it a try and it was quite enjoyable

Scarlet Bond is a pretty good movie that mostly contains events that happen after season 2 part 2 of That time I reincarnated as a slime. It introduces a new kingdom and a few new characters. The story in the movie is good. It's not perfect but it's genuinely interesting and follows the second season so it's a nice continuation. During the story a new kingdom is mentioned and new characters are introduced so it feels like the story adds to the worldbuilding of the anime overall. There does seem to be some pretty major deus ex machina in the movie which can be seen as negative especially since it seemed avoidable. There are a few new characters in this movie that are pretty interesting but there's not much character development to speak of. Diabolo played a bit more of an active role in this movie which was a pleasure to see. The animation was okay overall, it was nice and dynamic with the same style as the anime. There are a few standouts scenes with more impressive animation as well. The sound was great and the voice acting was really nice with the same voice actors as the anime. Overall this is a great movie with an interesting story and cool new characters. The execution doesn't seem perfect and the deus ex machina feels unnecessary but overall it's still lots of fun to watch. Definitely worth watching for anyone who has watched up to season 2 part 2 of the anime.

To keep this review short I have no complaints about the visuals or the audio. As far as the movie goes for an ongoing series I think it did a very good job of not pretending that anything overly dramatic was going to happen. It's a movie between seasons so you know the chances of any primary character being killed off is practically zero. But I think the movie leaned into that a lot and that's why I think it work better than several other anime films I watched over the years. So yeah if you enjoy the series it's based on you will probably enjoy this movie.

Overall not a bad movie at all, but it's obvious it could've been better. Like most of the main seasons of slime, the story is serviceable and the characters are fun and easy to root for, but the focus and timing of the plot are loose and the animation budget seems to have gone into the wrong places. The story seems confused at times, not clearly working towards characterization and plot but meandering and loitering. A large chunk of the plot sort of rips off the basics of DBZ Broly. Many scenes look very good with detailed backgrounds, but the final fights are not juiced up to match. A few of the final moves, like Rimuru's Beelzebub could've easily been drawn out for spectacle but the opportunity was missed. The new characters are memorable and fun and its too bad they can't show up in S3 more.

The movie "Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Movie"is a pretty mid movie, i expected more from this movie, im not sure if i liked or not. First of all the story was kind of boring all over the movie, with a lot of dialogs and side stories, less action and less focus on the main story. Secondly the fact that no one dies made me a little unconfortable, for the simples fact that all of them die, even after the Great Sage (Daikenja) said that there was nothing to do about. As far as I watched still no deaths and this make me lose a little interesting for the anime, even i had got attached to the characters a lost or deaths in animes is crucial to get the equilibrium for the anime. The only thing i liked about this anime was at the start where we could see more of the story of hiro, also when they was in the mine, was really pretty visually. The rest was really mid. i expected more... That was my seriously review i really dont know what to feel about. im mad but okay.

This movie is a stand alone story written by Fuse (the LN author) specially for 8bit. Nothing that happened in the movie will have any effect on the next season. I'm only starting with this because I wish that I had known that going in. Let me preface this review by saying that tensura is my favorite anime of the last few years, so I had high expectations for this movie. Needless to say, it did not live up to them. The plot in the latter half is so incredibly predictable (and tropey) that I think anyone with half a brain could predict exactly what's going to happen next, and most of the characters that are introduced are cookie cutter anime archetypes. Tensura has always had a somewhat predictable plot and archetypal characters, but this movie is on another level. If that were the only issue, then I would have rated this movie much higher, but the most disappointing part of this movie is the ending. It's really hard to talk about why the ending is bad without spoiling it, and I want to keep this as close to spoiler-free as possible, so please excuse the vague and metaphorical language. Fuse sacrificed the plot on the altar of a certain plot device (deus ex machina) in an attempt to score a very (poorly executed) Disney-esque emotional home run with the audience. However, if you really like that type of sickly sweet ending, then maybe you'll be able to overlook the poor execution.

I’ve liked this series, even if my enjoyment of it has waned a bit over time. I think it’s well done isekai with a rather unique take on the premise and a direction that keeps this series feeling dynamic. Even if some plot elements fizzle with less than satisfying results, there’s enough going on that it still feels like it’s moving in a positive direction. Then the series takes a step to the side and it loses me. I tried to watch Slime Diaries and I was just bored. It’s become one of the few series I’ve outright dropped with no plans of coming back to it. I know it’s a vibe and I’m probably an outlier when it comes to not liking it, but it’s not what I came to this series for and I find its cute facade off putting. This movie is part of the main line series and it stands as a weak entry. It looks really good, and some of the tracking shots are incredible, but that's about it. The story is pretty vapid, with the central problem usually being one of lack of communication between people who really should trust each other, as well as Hiiro showing a degree of trust in someone that just feels entirely unearned. Most of the fights aren't very interesting, either - when you have a character as strong as Rimiru in the mix and there aren't other demon lords or dragon-level threats involved, there's not much tension in the fights. There are a couple of good ones, and there's a genuinely sweet dynamic between two of the new characters, but this movie just felt like a weak excuse to have everyone bust out secret techniques with no real meaning to the series proper. It's fine, but that's about it.

I'm not saying that the storytelling is weightless, but at the end, I felt like nothing happened here. Looking back at the past two seasons, it's all the same as the movie. Nobody can die, there is no real change in any character, and there is no character regression in the second season. The only thing that's certain is that enemies become friends. There is no betrayal, no main enemy to challenge them. The only challenging moment was when the Falmuth kingdom attacked Tempest with Clayman. They were overwhelmed, Rimuru was nowhere to be found, and everyone in the city was killed. Okay, berserk mode, then a massacre. But this "bringing them back from the dead" thing is just violence. It's like they don't want to eliminate the character from the show, just like when Brian died in Family Guy, but the fans pressured them to bring him back. Otherwise, if the character didn't die and was just missing for three episodes, no one would notice because they are insignificant, just like Shion. They are not memorable characters, more like a joke. They could have easily been written out of the story. And then, they bring them back... The movie is the same. A character dies, and they bring them back. Another character dies after two minutes, and they bring them back also. There are no consequences, no losses, nothing to avenge, no personal involvement. It's not a bad series, but it makes everything flat and predictable.
