I usually don’t review OVAs, but I’m still bitter about the failure of my actual Mushoku Tensei review, so here I am. This episode is pretty great. It's an Eris side-story with awesome action, new characters, extra world-building, & even a satisfying little mini-arc where Eris finally gets to take the lead & do something herself. Mushoku Tensei is the only isekai that actually makes me feel like I’m watching another world, & getting to see more of its beautifully realized setting will always be a delight. If it didn't go without saying, anyone who enjoyed the series will also enjoy this OVA. Thank you for reading.

Just a disclaimer. I am absolutely obsessed with the MT series and this review is very obviously biased. But then, what review isn't? Alright so I just watched this and I don't think I have ever squealed with delight as much as I have watching this OVA. Heavy spoilers ahead, needless to say. Story 8/10 The story was simple nothing to complex. Its just one of Eris' side adventures that wasn't animated along with the main storyline since it would've affected the mood. Simple doesn't mean "not good" and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It introduces a couple of new characters that will be very important down the line and for me they were all done absolutely right. Art 10/10 The art was outstanding as usual. The perfection that we have come to expect from Studio Bind. Nothing like Demon Slayer Season 2 but an art style that perfectly fits the MT universe. Besides the action scenes were just an absolute feast for the eyes. Sound 10/10 Both the OP and ED are the same ones from Part 2. Regardless I got chills from the OP regardless and the soundtrack was also the same. I dont really have a lot to say apart from the fact that I enjoyed it. Character 10/10 not even a question The characters are what make Mushoku Tensei and that stays true for this 20 minute episode. The sheer delight on Eris' face as she explored the city, Cliff's arrogance that was perfectly captured and Ruijerd following Eris juuuust to make sure. Everything was perfect. Enjoyment 10/10 If its not quite obvious yet I am insanely obsessed with Mushoku Tensei. For me it is just the perfect blend of characters, visuals, story and fantasy. As someone who has read the LNs I obviously see it with rose coloured glasses but knowing that doesn't dampen my enjoyment in the slightest. The VAs are objectively amazing as is the art and sound. If you liked the main series DO NOT skip this OVA because who wouldn't like more Mushoku Tensei. Or fans of the series at least.

Mushoku Tensei's special episode, "Eris the Goblin Slayer" continues the series' strong trend in delivery with its content from the writing to the animation as usual. There's more focus on Eris and what she's up to in Millishion during the events of Episode 16 in her own adventure, and the show does a good job in showing how much she has grown in her journey with Rudeus and Ruijerd from not only a combat standpoint but a maturity standpoint too. Sure she has her bursts that make her feel like the old Eris but she also gives a lot of thought into whatever decision she has to make, and tries to do good deeds on her own too to continue with helping out the Superds in the process while just enjoying her own adventure in the process. She's attached to Rudeus but she also wants time to herself to see how far she has progressed and this OVA showed that off well. Even had a great character introduction in Cliff, and the episode sets up well for future seasons to deliver upon whether it is with Cliff as a character or the politics teased in the episode with what's happening underneath the heavenly looking country. Action was stellar as usual, the staff just knows how to make action feel quick yet impactful and brutal without wasting any time on meandering dialogue. Again, shows how much Eris has grown as a fighter too given her amount of training with strong people like Ghislaine and Ruijerd over many years. This was a super fun episode that actually has some plot relevance for a special episode and not just being a fanservice, waste of time kind of episode. Delivers a lot for Eris' character, and some really good build for future seasons to come, especially with Cliff's character. I loved the opening montage that visualized his life in the past with unique direction choices too for this series rather than having a massive exposition dump of Cliff's life beforehand. Lots to love here, the staff and director definitely put a lot of effort into bringing the most out of this one chapter from both an animation and storytelling perspective. This kind of episode fits being separated from the main anime due to feeling too different from what Rudeus was doing at the time which the anime was focusing on, but was still great on its own. For some people like me, even refreshing given how the series can explore its quality side characters even more in a free way with this kind of episode. I'm just excited for season 2 to come now, this series really does showcase tons of potential to being an all-time classic and this episode is just a part of that journey while still more than delivering enough to be a damn great episode.

this special is so much of a spit in the face of an original story as it gets. The art style is crude, lines are so rough and thic that you cant take your eyes out of it, animation is a slideshow, not smooth but like 15 fps in a videogame slow, it hurts when you watch. Story is cheap, new characters are lazy and predictable. also story overal is generic and has nothing to offer. i waited for so long for this episode and my expectations were broken and my day is ruined. i hope second season wont be as disapointing as "this"...

Mushoku Tensei was and still holds a special place in my heart because of its importance which shows me what a brilliant fantasy is. While I have found that some can argue that its lore is somewhat simple and dull when you’ve watched it, what certainly had me kept going where the characters and having my favourite female character returning to the big picture excites me. Therefore, let’s get right into the review. Story: 7/10 The episode here doesn’t quite entail the story from its original path, but it was able to introduce a few pivotal pieces into the main story. A few characters have joined the picture, our girl goes goblin slaying and does it with style. Of course, after watching it, I can see why this episode would hurt the tone where the family conflict was happening, which I find odd, but alas I did not mind. Art: 10/10 Again, they have done it. I love that the studio still manages to deliver it with passion. As I was sitting close to the screen, I was enthralled by the beauty of their choreography, the setting of the main action, the goblins all look so hostile that I find it to be quite entertaining. Characters: 8/10 To be frank, having a few characters introduced into the main spectacle was a bit unwanted for me and to top it off, one of them was a bit insufferable. But looking on the bright side, it does hint where they may return once again, supporting our main cast of characters. Eris throughout the whole episode was quite amazing and enticing to watch. Though, our main man was barely seen, only by the end. Still, I love it with all my heart. Enjoyment: 10/10 I love Mushoku Tensei dearly. If someone asked me what my favourite anime is, it would be this show. Everything in this special was more than enough to reignite my spirit to live after it ended. The ending song was something I mostly did not expect, I thought they would go a bit further into their special but nonetheless was perfect. Albeit the episode does seem a bit unnecessary for the watchers and perceived as an optional watch for the bored, it has been quite nice to have this show return after they have openly announced a new season. With that all said, I will be looking forward to the future and getting more of Mushoku Tensei, hopefully, it comes sooner, though I would suggest the staff would take their time to adapt it with care.

When I found out that this OVA had been released, I was really excited because I'm a big fan of this anime. However, it didn't live up to my expectations, and I noticed a decline in its quality. First, let's talk about the plot. I would rate it 7.5/10. The storyline is quite generic, and there's not much to judge about the overall story—it's neither exceptionally good nor bad. However, I found it interesting to see Eris spending time with someone who is quite childish, which brings out a more mature side of her character. Now, let's address the main issue—the art. I would rate it 6.1/10. The artwork started off strong, with immersive details, but gradually became stiff, flat, and lacked polish. It reminded me of the animation quality in "100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru." Particularly, the animation of the illustrated story about the second main character appeared stiff and poorly executed, as if it had been rushed without proper revisions. While the anime did improve somewhat in the middle, the overall animation still appeared stiff, with some scenes even having a frame rate below 24. However, I must mention that the battle scenes were visually impressive and smoothly executed, indicating a focus on that aspect. One of the special aspects of the "Mushoku Tensei" anime is its use of color theory, but unfortunately, this episode did not showcase that characteristic, which was disappointing. Regarding the sound, I would rate it 8/10. The audio quality remains consistent and enjoyable to listen to. It's well done and maintains the same level of quality as before. As for the characters, I would rate them 6/10. Unfortunately, my beloved waifu, Eris, appeared stiff and lacked the usual charm she had in previous episodes. In terms of enjoyment, I would rate it 5/10. It's disheartening that this episode sets a precedent for the declining quality of the anime in the future. While I was initially excited about the special episode of "Mushoku Tensei," it didn't turn out to be as special as I had hoped. While I'm looking forward to season 2 of "Mushoku Tensei," I'm concerned that the current trajectory will negatively impact the anime's overall quality. It would be better if Studio Bind was given a rest period of at least 1 or 2 years. I don't want this anime studio to suffer the fate of other studios that have faced similar issues. I hope the members are given enough time to rest and recover, so that the quality of their work can at least return to normal, or perhaps even improve. Overall, I give this episode a rating of 6.2/10. The declining quality of the anime is evident, and I would be willing to wait 2 or 4 years for another masterpiece. Quality over quantity!

Each an every episode of mushoku tensei is a blessing to the eyes. Cant wait for the next season! Ignore those comments made up by kids and just watch and judge it yourself. Among all the animes i have ever watched there wasnt any anime that has a world building like one piece until i watched mushoku tensei. A gem among all the animes ever made, the animation, the direction of each scenes, the soundtrack everything just gives out the fantasy world vibes. There is a reason this is called the no.1 isekai anime ever made. Rudys aunt was also shown in this ep, the female knight was actually rudys aunt. [SEASON 2 CONFIRMED]

Oh brother.. this is a suuuper skippable special extra with a generic RPG quest plot that even isekai fans will find tired and predictable. The story offers nothing unique and the execution has no charm to compensate. Eris and Ruijerd are their usual well-written selves and behave consistently, but the new character is a brat who solely exists only to be humbled and reacts in ways that serve the plot rather than feeling like a real person, actual NPC, gogogaga help me no like shush. The art starts reasonably then becomes stiff and flat, losing the color and fluidity that makes the main series special, though the battle scenes hold up. The audio is the one area that maintains the main series standard. Devoted fans of Eris and Ruijerd may get something out of it, but everyone else can safely skip it. Mushoku Tensei has proven it can do far better.

This is one of the best OVA I've ever watched. I never expect that Bind Studio (I hope this is the correct studio) put so much effort for an OVA. A bit of summary : This is the story that takes place in eps 16. This is when Rudeus met his father for the first time after the incident while Eris and Ruijerd walk around the town and went for goblin hunting. Story : 7/10 The story itself is not outstanding since it's just an OVA but a bit of hint of what happened in the story later on. Art : 10/10 Beyond expectation. Sasuga bind studio for putting so much effort for this OVA. The animation is so much better than most of the top anime this season and also last season. Overall, I love it. Very beautiful OVA. Hoping for season 2 to come faster.

I have been waiting for this special for a while now and I've gotta say it does not disappoint. The OVA centers on Eris and her adventure while she was on her own. This also helps set up future seasons since it shows details that can come into play later in the show. Mushoku Tensei's world is so immersive and huge, and it's a good thing since it can incorporate many side stories of different characters and show alternate settings from the maid story. The action, the animation, and the characters are just amazing in Mushoku Tensei. It is good we got one more extra episode for this amazing show! 8/10 Solid Special!

This was really cool. Getting to see Eris in a different light was great, and it really added to her development. The animation in this was stunning, with incredibly animated fight scenes. This also didn't go near any of the weird pervy stuff that's littered throughout the show. I didn't care for the story itself, but it may come in later on in the show. The new characters introduced were pretty cliché, but they do seem to serve their purpose in the story. Over-all was well worth watching, however would seem pointless of you weren't watching the main series. If you have an interest in Ruijerd or Eris, I'd say it's a must.

Mushoku Tensei for the most part stands on well paced storytelling matched by great animation and characters to boot. This special is simply a side story giving context to the actions of Eris in the background of an episode, primarily to introduce a few characters. On its own it is a pretty solid idea and shortly places said characters in the anime’s universe prior to their relevancy. The only problem with this is that it seems that these characters basically do nothing other than being named and the only one with ample screen time comes off as irritating. The special, although not horrible or unenjoyable is noticeably lesser in quality in comparison to the main anime. Usually characters aren’t so abruptly shown or forced on screen but it feels that way in this. The plots is a background to events from another perspective so it’s pretty bland and the addition of characters to the universe doesn’t feel natural. In addition, the animation is also a significant downgrade as it contains far more stills and generally looks quite choppy in contrast to the usual beautiful animation. For Mushoku Tensei the special is sub-par but overall it’s alright and mildly entertaining so if you enjoy the show give it a watch but don’t expect it to be nearly the same level of quality one would expect.

It's better to watch it after episode 15, Rename it to Episode 15.5 so you'll not miss the flow of the story. If you watch this special episode anywhere else like at the last after 23rd episode you will feel that it is not necessary. because at the end of this special episode there's the scene of Rudeus depressed sitting on the bed when Eris and Ruijerd enters his room, that's what connects between episode 15 and 16. That is the best place for this special episode to be watched at. I renamed episode 15 to (15.0) And I renamed this special episode to (15.5 OVA) That's my order style (: Thanks..

If you've ever wondered what Mushoku Tensei would look like as a set of episodic short stories with clichéd plots, look here. A blu-ray extra episode, there's not any reason to go out of your way to watch this one, even as a fan of Mushoku Tensei. The main plot is a generic RPG quest. The main extra character is (at least in this episode) a conceited brat who gets humbled by the end in a pretty perfunctory manner. The little bit of world building, while nice, doesn't add anything to the main story. There are no revelation about or development of an existing character. It's a complimentary episode which fails to enhance the main course. The most enjoyable part of the episode is seeing Eris & Ruijerd again, as they are just generally enjoyable, well-written characters. This episode does introduce characters & ideas of potential importance later, but the execution is tepid. Considering this compliments the pair of episodes where Rudeus & Paul reunite, Mushoku Tensei can and has done far better.

"Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu" is a must-watch anime for anyone who is a fan of fantasy and action. The story follows the journey of a 34-year-old shut-in who is given a second chance at life in another world. With the mind of a grown adult and the knowledge of his past life, he quickly adapts to his new environment and excels in magic and swordplay. The anime is filled with exciting action scenes, intriguing plot twists, and relatable character development. The themes of overcoming one's past and making the most of second chances are woven throughout the story, making it an emotionally engaging and thought-provoking watch. The addition of a diverse and dynamic cast of characters, beautiful animation, and a well-crafted plot, makes "Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu" a must-see anime for any fantasy and adventure lover.

This is my first review and I will try to make it the least complex, well the goal is just to share the score that I give to the work that I enjoyed It is incredible the secondary stories that mushoku tensei can have since in the end they will be related in some way to Rudeus, also seeing other secondary characters having mini stories is entertaining to watch. Story 8/10: Enjoy that mini adventure of Eris hunting goblins. Art 9/10: It was good as in the main story. BSO 7/10: The opening music was good, the ending music was the same as the second part of the first season. In general it was quite good and entertaining, now just waiting for the second season!

English. It is a chapter for me of pure and mere filler that does not contribute much, it only tells us what Eris did in the course that she told Rudeus that she would hunt goblins, it is simple and can go unnoticed of how insignificant this special episode is, also without this nothing would happen maybe some characters that appeared here will be relevant in the future but for now that is not the case. It continues with a very beautiful animation and also telling us something interesting but I think it fails to show us something different to be a special episode. In conclusion I think it is an episode that is good but I think it could have been much more entertaining or shown us something that will come out in the next season.

I wish it was longer. Then maybe Cliff could have developed a bit more, and we could have found out more about Miko and Therese. This could have really been an hour. The fight between Eris and the ninja people, was so beautiful and suspenseful. The animation for that scene went crazy. Eris should have gotten some big reward for saving the two girls, they were royalty or something, she ever escorted them back. Ruijerd took a backseat this time, just like he always does, yet he is still cool, and protective of Eris. Im glad we got that ending scene to see where this fits in the Anime.
