Spoiler-free review. Migi and Dali is a very unique show. I was hesitant to watch it, but once I started I realized that it was a masterpiece. The show taps into a very unique genre: uncanny comedy. The show seems like something of a cross between Sakatomoto and something by Junji Ito, which kind of makes sense since it's written by the author of Sakamoto (which I also highly recommend.) It also has substantial elements of mystery and suspense which eventually supersede the comedy as the story develops, and it does have some very dark moments, but the comedy never completely disappears. I don't think there's any point in trying to compare this show to any other anime since it differs so much from any other show I've seen. Definitely worth giving a try.

An overall all-rounder good show. It starts off a bit slow, but the mix of comedy and eeriness is fantastic. Migi and Dali are both so hilarious, but don't let that fool you the show has depth to it, and the storyline is unique. Not usually one for weird, creepy, or thriller shows, and normally sticking to basic shonen and shoujo, but this was truly unique. Highly recommend making it past the first 3 episodes, as the show progresses it gets better. The way Migi and Dali kept their identities a secret was so silly and fun, laugh-out-loud stuff, their antics were amazing. The show pairs really well with the theme of mystery. Overall, does not disappoint. So unexpected and hilarious. From the beginning, the worry of how Migi and Dali will conceal their identities from others keeps you hooked, their attempts to hide from everyone were so goofy and fun. As the show progressed, the plot thickened, and the plot twist was wonderful, genuinely did not see it coming. The last few episodes had me on the hook, and the animation was impressive in those last scenes. There are scenes which are super weird, but that's what makes the show so great. At first, skeptical over the classification of the show as a 'comedy' however, this show is pretty much a masterpiece. Don't want to spoil the plot or any key details, so this review can't do it full justice, but going in with no other info besides the fact that it's about a pair of creepy twins was a great experience. The depth in the characters of Migi and Dali, and the struggles they face, stood out, along with how themes of redemption were shown throughout. Extremely pleased by the ending, quite satisfying, the side characters were interesting as well. Not really a tear jerker, no sobbing or crying, but it did pull at the heartstrings. Overall a well-written show, a strong climax, and a wonderful resolution, a fully satisfying experience. Didn't know much about Nami Sano going in, and only found out about her passing upon completing the show but this is an amazing piece of work.

Migi & Dali is a 2023 anime adaptation of the final manga by Nami Sano, best known for "Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto." Premise is Twin brothers Migi and Dali are orphans seeking revenge for their mother's mysterious death and return to the town where the tragedy occurred, they deceive an elderly couple by pretending to be one perfect child named Hitori. While living this double life, they investigate the truth behind their mother's death and uncover the disturbing secrets hidden beneath an idyllic suburban community. It's just bittersweet knowing that this was Nami Sano's final work, because her creativity and storytelling ability leave you wishing there were more stories from her that we could have experienced. - STORY One of Migi & Dali greatest strengths is its storytelling and its writing. Instead of throwing random twists at the audience, the anime takes its time building its mystery through small details, subtle hints, and careful setup. It rewards viewers who pays attention, making each reveal feel earned rather than forced. Every few episodes introduce revelations that completely change how you view previous events. What makes the mystery satisfying is that clues are planted early rather than appearing from out of nowhere. The biggest strength of Migi & Dali is its incredible control over tone. Very few anime can shift so naturally between comedy, psychological horror, emotional drama, suspense, and wholesome family moments within the same episode (Gintama, The Greatest Estate Developer are I think good examples of it). it understands how to make ridiculous situations coexist with surprisingly meaningful moments. - FINAL VERDICT Many anime struggle when it comes to delivering a satisfying ending, but Migi & Dali manages to avoid that problem. Instead of relying only on a final twist or a shocking reveal, the series focuses on emotional payoff and giving its characters the closure they deserve. The ending works because it understands that the mystery was never the only thing that mattered the emotional journey behind it was just as important.

This has to be one of the funniest and consistently surprising shows I’ve ever seen. Every character is so well written and each is funny in their own right. And even when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the characters would surprise me big time. Like at least twice an episode, a plot twist would get me and id laugh out loud. And even with all the funny moments and plot twists, the show manages to be so emotional at times too. It never felt forced, but dayum I had a single tear go down my face a couple times. Please watch this, it’s weird, fun, sad, happy, shocking, and pure entertainment. I don’t think we’ll get another show like this for years, if ever again. Other notes: the music was good, the art style is fun, the story is so unique.

There are many gag-comedy anime that might charitably be described as "one-trick ponies": they have exactly one joke, that joke gets introduced in the first episode, and all other episodes are just variations on this joke. Even if their gag, and the variations on it, are funny, you can't help but feel somewhat tired near the end. Migi to Dali is the exact opposite of this. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that it subverts the entire genre of comedy anime with how much it is NOT a one-trick pony. The first episode makes you think that haha, this is a funny gag, but they can't possibly drag this out for 13 episodes. The second episode already starts to make you rethink that, and as the episodes go on, you are left to think that it can't possibly get any crazier than THIS, can it? The plot of the anime is entirely self-contained and complete. It is certainly on the absurd side, bordering on surreal. But it is not abstract: you can still like Migi to Dali if you hate pretentious artsy stuff. If you are willing to indulge what this show presents you, you are left with a truly unique experience.

FUCKIN' PERFECT - is the only way to describe this show. Right from the first episode, my interest had been piqued and as the episodes went by, I was constantly at the edge of my seat!! The pacing is so good with no plotholes, only suspense and incredible thrill. Its amazing to see just how much content the studio could squeeze into a 13-ep season. The ending couldn't have been more perfect T-T !!! The characters are well throughout without including unnecessary drama between them to show their growth into becoming friends. The MCs Migi and Dali are also really smart, courageous and adorable. Even the antagonists are quite well-written. From time to time the show does give off creepy vibes but I think it just makes it more unique. its a solid mix of suspense, mystery, comedy and heart-warming elements. I'm genuinely surprised at how underrated this anime is considering I knew about its existence since the first trailer release. its a hidden gem fr! its a must watch IMO and I'm sure its gonna leave you feeling all kinds of emotions. the ending is especially heart touching and could even make a few of us shed some tears. Truly an insane series by an insanely talented author who left us too soon. rest in peace Sano Nami <3 The show Migi to Dali very well deserves a 100/10. idk when was the last time I enjoyed a series from start to finish as much as I enjoyed this! <3

(ENG vers.) Super fun anime to watch, with great comedy parts mixed with the progress of the story. There was no episode in which I left without a smile on my face or a look of shock due to the events of the plot. Even though it's short, it's very well tied together and manages to take us out of that sea of super famous animes where everyone has a very similar skeleton. Furthermore, the dynamics of the relationship between the two brothers is beautiful to see, and the tribute to the author at the end touched me a lot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (PT-BR vers.)

Summary: Nami Sano's avant-garde style has finally met perfect genre - suspense. Nami Sano's previous work "Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto" had pros and cons. While many enjoyed Sakamoto's stylish actions, there were few including myself who felt uneasy with that bizarre movement. After successful her first full-length comics, she tried a different genre and a bit surprisingly it was suspense/mystery. And weird poses drawn by her were perfect match to twins hiding from their step-parent, such as crawling under the floor like in opening. The style is also well used to the villain for causing more tension and stress in the climax. It is really unfortunate that she passed away before watching this great show, and I hope the final scene was properly delivered to her.

There's only a few anime that even comes close to this one. It's a masterpiece of storytelling and it's a masterpiece of the family dynamics, I think, of a mentally unstable family. This anime has it all. Laughs, drama, sad parts, it is just a masterpiece. And I don't say that enough. It is so good. When I first watched it, I was like, "okay... Bit boring?", as the episodes grew, I started to like it, and by the end, I loved it. It's just a masterpiece. A really good send off to the manga creator in my opinion. I loved it. 10/10, recommend it for all anime fans. It is really good!

If you enjoy being unsettled, these twins can provide that in spades. Having seen Nami Sano's more popular comedy, I was expecting something along a similar thread. Instead, what we get is a murder mystery with a healthy dose of bizarre magical realism. In the best case, morbid curiosity will keep you latched on to this narrative. At worst, you will have had enough within the first half of it's runtime. However, I would encourage those of the latter persuasion to stick with it. The outcome of the story will make the squeamish journey worthwhile. As Nami Sano's final work, it certainly deserves the audience's time, and will be a rewarding experience to be sure.
