Komi Can't Communicate second season. This was definitely a season in anime. I will give one reason why I enjoyed it: **Comedy** I am a Slice of Life Fanatic. This, is Slice of Life. That does not mean I do not have my gripes about it. I will get to that later. But at the end of the day, this slice-of-life anime made me laugh. And I enjoyed it. Gripes: They do not really go into the main plot point of the anime: 100 friends. They touch it once. That is all. They do not even update us apart from an instance. The new friends? Who are they? I do not know. Thats a problem I have. What do you consider a friend? A person you know? Then everyone is friends with everyone. She made some friends Komi made, she talks to them like once or twice. The Music: Op better than season 1 The animation: Good animation but is lazy at some times Final Score: 6.5/10 rounded up to a 7, I liked S1 a bit better. Thanks! -CyanCheetah

I'll keep it a buck fifty with y'all. This anime is literally not for anyone who is not into slice-of-life anime. I would give it an 8 on MAL if I could but it just misses the mark a little too much. In my mind, a 7.54/10 is the most ideal for this show. It is a pretty well-rounded anime with comedy, school, adventure, and even a little drama and romance as subtext when the need arises. If you're bored and not finding anything to watch, then you can simply binge-watch this 12-episode anime. No episode is too boring. As a matter of fact, despite it being quite simple, every episode manages to keep your eyes glued to the scene until the end. You don't usually want to ask for more because of its lack of next episode preview but you know it's not going to disappoint. It is in no light a masterpiece but I think it has amazing pacing and could really become one of the greats at the end of its running.

+ People said that having a good look meant that you already winning in life, it is true but if you got severe anxiety like Shouko Komi those things meant nothing. It is portrayed in this anime really good, it still needs the will to change from oneself and kind understanding people around too. + Shouko's design is unique compared to other characters in the series, she is portrayed like modernized pretty girls from the '80s and '90s anime (e.g. Sailor Moon), but her looks will "change" when she is in a relaxed mood and much more in line with other characters. + The series itself did a great job to give context and portraying how Shouko (and other characters that have anxiety) communicate, whether using on-screen context, narration, or just a slight gesture from the character. But that also can be its minus point for viewers that rely heavily on subtitle. + The lack of real romantic drama actually helps the anime to focus only on the narrative of how Shouko made friends and how the characters in the series all try to keep the friendships bloom. + Some characters got meta scenes (especially Hitohito Tadano) and even some fourth-wall breaking that differs the anime from other slice-of-life/school-life anime and elevates the lighthearted theme much more *Reviewer's Note: Valid for Part 1 & 2 of the series

While for the first season I felt especially at the beginning it was not matching up with the acclaimed manga I had heard it to be, I felt it got progressively better as it went along. I am not a manga reader of Komi mind you just anime only so my judgement is based on what I experienced not really on how accurate a source it is. That being said I really felt all the characters and situations in this season of Komi ended up being either good, funny, or moving which led to an overall magnificent season. For this season especially there are some characters who i usually find cringe inducing that delivered on some funny jokes such as yamai or agari. I think for myself that this season was worth watching if you were somewhat disappointed with the first.

After an incredible first season, it was announced very quickly that Komi Can't Communicate would be back for another season, with more time for Shouko Komi to add to her ever growing list of friends! I'll assume you've seen the first season for the purposes of this review. Story & Characters: Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 continues our story of how Komi continues to go about high school life, more specifically, her first year of high school, with way too much social anxiety to communicate with anyone in ways that doesn't include her pad of paper. We get to see Komi in different settings around her high school life, most of which don't even take place at the school itself. These include her house, and even on a class trip. After the first season mostly took place at school, this does mix it up in a way that makes this second season feel a little more distinct from the other. Included in all of this are some more new characters with a group that I collectively liked more this time around. New for this season includes muscular, but gentle giant Makoto Katai, ego-filled Shisuto Naruse, overly friendly Amami Satou and athletic Chika Netsuno. Ayami Sasaki and Mikuni Katou are two classmates that are randomly selected to spend time with Komi, while awkwardly trying to figure out how to interact with her without Tadano around. It's a fantastic mix of characters, once again, and overall, they provide interactions that are more toned down that the group from the first season, which I found I enjoyed a little more. Tadano is still a bit of a nervous blob when it comes to interacting with Komi, and I wished they kept him a little more level headed like he was in the first season. Providing progression shouldn't be at the sake of a fun yet serious narrative, and I felt like that was the case when the series could have played more tender moments better. This series just tries to insert jokes too often. Komi's still a bit of a mystery as she still struggles to communicate on a daily basis, but you do see steps taken on a personal level with her, though this kind of reinforces the series as a bit of a slow burn show to begin with. The story itself goes through the remainder of our characters' first year at high school, and what you're basically looking for are how characters interact with each other in the series. I didn't see Katai and Naruse as characters I expected to be much, but still brought an entertaining element to the series, both of which interacted with Tadano more than anyone else. The series doesn't have to squarely be about Komi, and these two kind of show that. One minor problem I did have with the series is that it did feel a little too hectic at times. There simply was too much going on in front of us, and it results in a bit of an unsteady feeling. While some of this surely is intended, such as the beginning half of the Christmas episode, I found that I didn't know what I was looking for, and it left me tense, but not in a fun way. Unpredictability tends to be a good thing, but here, it just felt like too many ideas were clustered into the scenes at once. One thing that always comes up in school-setting series is, where does the story go from here? You need new ideas to carry our characters through their final two years, and I'll be curious where it goes, should the series continue in its animated form. Both season 1 and 2 provided a nice mix of settings, and even if the large number of characters felt overwhelming at times, it was easy to like them as we went on. The relationship that's been building on Tadano and Komi is another aspect you hope continues to evolve, and you have to think it'll take more steps as we go as well. The ending felt mostly satisfying, and I'll be eager if this series continues at a later date. (Story: 8/10, Characters: 8/10) Art: Just like with season 1, season 2 continues to look really nice. It's well animated and everything flows along very smoothly. The funnier moments play out like a low-framerate series that do add to the overall feel, and I thought there weren't many spots to pick at here. (9/10) Sound: Likewise, the sound also kept consistent from the first season. I have no real comments here because it's still strong. (9/10) Overall Enjoyment: Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 is yet another strong series in the most stacked anime season to date. It continues the strength of the previous season, and adds more elements to create new moments between our characters. I'm not sure if they intend to carry these ideas into Komi and Tadono's second school year, but I'll be here for when it does. (9/10)

My exposure to slice-of-life romcoms has been pretty limited until this point. As I continue to watch more and more in the genre that I like (Such as Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun), where my tastes like becomes ever more clear: Besides the need for a solid narrative hook, style trumps everything else in importance. I don't mean to say that substance needs to be sacrificed for style, but the latter is the core piece for me of creating immersion in slice-of-life material with a light tone. Fortunately, Komi Can't Communicate nails this perfectly. The first part/cour/season partially succeeded with a strong narrative hook; Komi's godlike complex created from minute one within the school felt fresh and witty, and luckily maintains a "wholesome" feel that doesn't soil the dynamic (The few moments/characters that work against the feel, like Yamai or Aragi, are easily some of the worst parts of the show, but weren't a significant enough detraction to ruin the good-willed intent). I'm not knowledgeable enough about the actual disorder Komi suffers from, but I never felt like characters or settings largely took away from its seriousness, and it's what makes Tadano (Who is one of my favorite SoL male protags) and Komi's relationship so likeable from episode 1 as he strives to help her with the 100 Friend goal, further adding to this strong narrative hook. It was very clear Part 1 experienced growing pains in what exactly the show wanted to focus on: Komi's dynamic with the class, the brewing love relationship between the main two, or the introduction of new personality driven class members. This lack of balance in ideas left me wanting so much more from the strong premise initially set up. It doesn't help that the most offensive cast members had so much screen time when first being introduced, ruining entire episodes for me. I could see a vision, just one struggling to be reached. Once cour 2 began, I could finally feel the growing pains ceasing. Komi and Tadano's romantic relationship took a stronger focused, the new characters being introduced still retained the gimmick quality but were far more likeable (Katai is the GOAT) while the older and annoying characters were less prominent, and Komi's personal development was far more substantial and enjoyable to watch play out. Many events like the Christmas party as well only worked as well as they did because of the struggle cour 1 had in creating solid chemistry within the entire eclectic cast, which ultimately paid off. There wasn't one episode I disliked, which alone is a massive improvement. At times though, it can feel like Komi is just running through the SoL motions, like practically every other SoL I've seen; the familar Valentine's Day, White Day, New Year events, and more. What differentiates Komi though is its style. The combination of Komi's animation, character designs, use of lighting, and direction (Like it's great use of close ups for the important moments of development), is consistent (Despite the constant outsourcing from OLM) and creates a general vibe I struggle to not feel completely immersed in. It's a feeling that I understand may not resonate with everyone in the same way, but Komi has hit a particular chord with me that feels really warm and loveable. Smaller things, like the repetitive (but perfectly executed) opening episode dialogue, black cat motif, and ED visuals (An all-timer) make me realize how much I've grown to enjoy the bizarre cast of characters and Komi as their central link. Knowing we're barely a third of the way through has me excited to see how things continue and hope that it continues to weed out the show's few unpleasantries, in which cour 2 has already began to make some progress through. And more Katai please.

This season was great. I don't usually like new characters but Katai and Naruse are absolute gold. Any ep they're in is definitely a win and I love it. Ep 8 is my top ep. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. The only issues I had were ep 10 and 11, the animation and art quality dipped so much I wondered if the animation director went on sick leave or something cos it looked really bad lmaoo. But the last ep was animated beautifully and it more or less made up for it. Najimi was fun as usual. Yamai is uh insane as usual and I don't wanna talk about her lmaoo. I actually enjoyed Nakanaka more this season, she's the best competitor against Yamai but not sexually intense like her. Kometani is fcking hilarious cos usually Tadano is the one reading everyone but that one time Kometani read Tadano and my brother had such a laugh. A solid 8/10 for me.

The Story is a 9/10, because tadano somewhat found the strength to say "I like you" to komi-san. so that's why i put the story at a 9/10. The Art is a 8/10, the art was pretty good. the last few episodes were a bit iffy I would say, but episode 12 sealed the deal as good art. so that's why I give it a 8/10. The Sound is a 10/10. every time komi-san speaks it clear, when she walks, they have the footsteps, when everything that happens, it accompany it with a killer soundtrack. so that's why i give it a 10/10. The Character is a 9/10. I picked a 9 because all the new character that was introduced were funny and good, i love Katai, Mikuni Katou, Ayami Sasaki. so that's why i chosed 9/10. My Enjoyment was a 10/10, this anime is sooo funny, like on god. i love the jojo reference that i often see, and i absolutely love the eraser part in episode 12. so i give it a 10/10. . My Overall score. 9. i love the story, art, sound, and character, so that's why i give it a 9/10.

I watched the first season and my overall impression was just fine. The show was good but nothing groundbreaking. After finishing the 2nd season, I would say I enjoyed it a bit more than the previous one. The main girl, Komi-san is shy as always, unable to convey her feelings. But she has slowly started to break the ice and actually spoke some words bravely. Although, I would say Tadano was a little off balanced compared to the previous season. The side characters on the other hand had more spotlight in this season which is actually fine and some of them filled the role of Tadano this time. The art style was the same as the previous one. Really liked that ending theme. This season felt a little bit underwhelming and mostly went under the radar unlike hit shows like Spy x Family. Regardless, this was overall a good season.

Story: 7/10 The story is pretty standard—your typical romance. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's still enjoyable and keeps you hooked. Characters: 9/10 The characters are definitely the highlight. I love the new additions, especially Katai. They bring fresh energy and uniqueness, making the show even more fun to watch. Art: 9/10 The art remains fantastic. It hasn't changed much, but that's perfectly fine because it's already great. The visuals truly enhance the overall experience. Overall: 8.5/10 Season 2 is a solid improvement. With awesome new characters and beautiful art, it’s a must-watch for romance fans. I'd definitely recommend it!

Personally, I think some people are too critical over the reviews for this show. I really enjoyed both this and season 1 of Komi. I will admit, I found the first season to have a little more substance and I found it a little more exciting to watch, but I loved and thoroughly enjoyed this season too. The animation is gorgeous, the opening is adorable and so is the ending. I don't think it is a show that needs heavy criticism- it's a feel good, wholesome show that I think everyone should give a chance. It appropriately demonstrates someone living with anxiety in a beautiful way and it is heart warming to see her progress as the show moves forward. I am a big fan of both the anime adaptation and the manga of Komi and I hope another season is underway!
