I tried. When the first season came out and people went nuts over Jujutsu Kaisen I was patiently waiting to binge the whole season to check it out. I do it every time when the new big shonen thing comes out. Sadly, most o the time it just doesn't work for me with the post 2016 modern shonen. All the new hyped things just lack something. "Wait till they adapt the next manga arc, it's going to be peak". Well, here we are. I just watched it. 23 episodes. Shouldn't I feel something? Constant non-stop action and fights, animations is so beautiful, so cinematic at the moments (was all these animators suffering worth it?). You get 18 episodes arc of superb action, characters death, destruction, serous main character moment what would lead to some growth in any other story... Wait, what is just happened? I finished the season. I remembered just a couple of things. Didn't feel a thing... First time ever when I'm watching anime and I want the action to stop and to actually see the characters progress, get to know them more. I want to see characters have time to react to what just happened, them to have some moments in between, to build them up before they're going to get killed, so I COULD FEEL SOMETHING! But it doesn't happen in Jujutsu Kaisen. You just move on. There was cool animation, a lot of powers (you forget how and why they work), action. But it just doesn't work if the story is not happening. Otherwise, you can just watch these clips without context on YouTube and never dip into the anime itself. All these new shonen stories copy A LOT from old manga what people already love. Maybe if they tried to copy not just an aesthetic and powers, but the way story progress and groundbreaking writing choices, then I wouldn't recommend you to just watch Hunter X Hunter instead of the new things. 7/10 just for animation itself, but not the story

Whats the point of having some of the best sakuga ever if you're not going to back it up with any emotion whatsoever. The best way I can put it, imagine if AOT went straight to Season 3 Part 2 after Season 1. There is such a weird gap in world building and development that the show desperately covers up with fight after fight. It implies a significant level of depth, but when youre watching the 10th fight in the span of 7 episodes as some no name side character gets offed, you begin to ask yourself, whats the point. I just met these characters one season ago, why does it feel like the show wants to get to its end point. I wish there was more stuff like the hidden inventory arc, I love that giddy feeling shonens give you as you meet such a fun and interesting cast, you watch them develop and interact with each other. Shibuya doesnt have that, just tiktok edit material. I worry for the next season, JJK had crazy potential to me, it needs to slow down with more interesting stories to tell, because this series still has so much potential.

This show is unfortunately pretty similar to Demon Slayer in terms of its good points and bad points. What I mean by that is that its animation quality is pretty darn amazing, while its story and pacing are pretty lackluster. The magic system and fights going on seem thought out and pretty inventive. A decent bit of it went over my head, but I was nonetheless satisfied with the visuals going on to not really question it much. From the start the stakes are high and engaging, though they devolved drastically once the infamous Shibuya Incident was underway. The gratuitous destruction and death quickly evaporated whatever stakes there were, along with most of the engagement and interest I had with the characters. I found myself repeatedly questioning what was keeping me watching, and the answers weren't entirely satisfying: "It looks cool, at least;" "A lot of people really like this show;" "I sort of want to know who will die next." It was kind of that marginal interest like watching a horror movie simply for its expected gratuitousness. Interesting, but leaving a sense of disappointment for the amount of potential fun to be had. It's kind of weird saying the story felt lacking since many plot-changing events happened. To start with the more apparent flaws, I can't count how many times a deus ex machina was used (for both protagonists and antagonists). It was momentarily hype when the first couple happened, then it kind of became ridiculous and frustrating. Every fight bled into another, leading to no fights really feeling resolved. That lack of resolution was felt by the end of the season, and where the season ended left me even more confused. All the deaths that were racked up along the way from insignificant fodder to main characters felt more or less the same, with the passing thought, "Oh, I guess they're dead." It's pretty disappointing MCs went out that way with all the time previously given to them. I think there were attempts to have some deaths give a pang, but they generally didn't land and they felt very unearned. The repeated interruptions of the ongoing plot with flashbacks were at first awkward, then became uninteresting filler in which I pulled out my phone to busy myself with something interesting while checking back to see if the primary plot had resumed. I'm acquainted with the use of flashbacks in anime and there are quite a few I recognize as utilizing them to great effect (Haikyuu for example), however here they were more distracting and like non-sequiturs. All in all, the combination of unceasing fights and disruptive flashbacks made for an unsatisfying experience when it comes to the story and pacing--kind of like being fed breadcrumbs at varying intervals and never a full, satisfying bite. There were a few other things that bothered me that go into spoiler territory that I'll vaguely say involved characters having the chance to do something that would obviously solve something and the characters, for whatever reason, did not do it. Anyway, it's not all bad as there's the bones of an engaging plot here. If it was elevated to the level of the visuals, it could've been something like what the majority of people seem to already think about this show.

mid asf and extremely overrated... this shi gon fall off even harder than My Hero Academia. art - 9/10 as it should be for a 2024 release by a huge studio story 4/10. i dont care about the story at all its boring as shii got me zoning out every 5 minutes characters 7/10 few cool characters but a lot of extremely jarring annoying pointless characters too, they will also interrupt the story buy giving you a 5 minute backstory of a character just before they die... like WHY? watch it if you got nothing else to watch but dont prioritise watching this as its not worth the time Overall score: MID/10

As a diehard fan and lover of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, delving into the highly anticipated Season 2 was a journey filled with expectations and excitement. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, acclaimed for its technical brilliance, faced challenges in storytelling and emotional depth, resulting in a mixed viewing experience. The animation maintained a high standard, showcasing fluid fight sequences and dynamic visuals. However, character and villain narratives faltered, missing opportunities for nuanced development. The musical aspect declined post the sixth episode, failing to deliver the necessary impact for action and emotional moments, detracting from the immersive experience. Despite visually stunning fights, the lack of context and poorly paced explanations hindered their effectiveness. Random events and characters appeared without proper introduction, disrupting the narrative coherence. Power scaling inconsistencies were evident, with weaker characters inexplicably becoming formidable, leading to moments that felt inconsistent. The show's quality remained strong until Gojo's departure, after which it became messy and rushed. The final episode was disappointing, featuring abrupt jump cuts and an overflow of information, lacking the earlier well-crafted fight setups. In terms of inconsistent stakes, it was crucial for a series to maintain a sense of tension and consequence. The sporadic power scaling might have contributed to this issue, making it challenging for me to gauge the true significance of conflicts. The presence of convenient writing or plot armor is also a critique. It was essential for a narrative to maintain a balance between unpredictability and logical progression, ensuring that characters faced genuine challenges and overcame them through meaningful development. However, the lack of a clear motive for Geto could make it less enjoyable. A more nuanced exploration of Geto's intentions could have enhanced the narrative depth. As for the awkward change in tone at times , it disrupted the overall flow of the story. Regarding Nobara, her character development may have been overshadowed or underexplored in Season 2. It was essential for the series to maintain a balance in character arcs, ensuring each protagonist received adequate attention and growth. The finale, being the worst episode of jjk leaves room for improvement, with abrupt jumps and an overflow of information leading to an anticlimactic ending and a letdown for the arc .. As a devoted fan, the mixed viewing experience shows me the areas that could benefit from further exploration and refinement.

The first arc was awesome, the first five episodes were great, borderline masterpiece, very emotional even. but then it all went downhill from there. I felt like watching one piece, like it was the dressrosa arc all over again.. so many pointless fights.. seems like they just wanted to show everyone fighting everyone, no plot progression, just 15 episodes of pure fighting, more and more people keep showing up to fight, and most of the people awaken new power and new final forms during fights.. is sooo tiering.. reminded me of the alabasta fight, again in one piece, where one in world second took 2 whole episodes to happen. or the final season of "how i met your mother" that spends who knows how many episodes in a single weekend, or even the naruto war arc that spent god knows how many episodes for a war that lasted less than 3 days. but somehow even the war felt more entertaining than those 15 episodes. because at least in naruto, the story was moving forward, they were learning stuff. but here, it was just one fight after the other, no time to cool down, no progression, no stakes, too many fake out deaths. the animation was pretty good though. but still. At least the over the board, annoying, out of place, obnoxious comedy from the first season is mostly absent, so that is also a plus.

I felt that the author did not set the stage for the story very well. Things in the story seem to happen without any preparation or buildup. It appears that the author just wrote the story in a freestyle mode, which makes it hard to be convinced of. The same happens with battle techniques. Usually, a good author sets some rules for the battles and then tries to be creative within these rules. Jujutsu Kaisen's author creates the rules while the battles are happening, which makes it confusing and, most of the time, doesn't make any sense. Overall, the animation is fantastic in most scenes, but this season had much more inconsistency, with very bad animated/drawn scenes between terrific animated scenes. I wasn't expecting a PowerPoint-like episode like the last episode of this season of Jujutsu Kaisen, which is well-praised for the quality of its animation.

whole season of nonstop fighting and little substance. introduces numerous Characters just to kill em and move on to the next villain. nothing felt substantial nothing felt conclusive. it was very predictable and yet leaves you with more questions than answers. of course some of the characters are amazing due to their work on season 1, however they give the spotlight to a merry go round of very uncharasmatic villains. they also haven't even announced a release timeline for season 3 which worsens the blow. 4/10 incredibly sad to see how they threw away the pacing and credibility of season 1.

Finally got the oppurtunity to watch JJK season 2. Social media and friends have been hyping up this season a lot so coming in I had high expectations. Did it meet those expectations? Kinda but not really. If you want me to be honest with you, the fights and animation absolutely carried this show. Everything else was just mediocre. It felt like there was no real plot, characters were pretty boring, and overall just no direction. This show was just pure fighting. When I say "show" I'm mostly talking about shibuya arc. I do want to commend the first arc of this season. A lot of people didn't like this arc because of its slow pacing but I actually enjoyed it. I was able to learn more about Gojo's past, his relationship with Geto, and my favorite character this season Toji. This season of JJK was good, but don't have your expectations too high unless your all for the fighting animation. Thank you MAPPA for this top tier animation though fr

I have to admit, this season was definitely great, but also very overhyped that it sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The series is evolving bit by bit as this season helped to bring things into perspective, as far as how the world of sorcerers and curses are interpreted in this version of Japan; but I still can't help but feel that the writing itself is severely lacking in terms of storytelling. It's just....fights. Let me break it down a bit: Hidden Inventory Arc - 9/10 This part of the season was easily the best, as it matched actual storytelling with the hype/conflict that JJK fans love to talk about. It adapts the brief history of Gojo Satoru and a mission he goes on with his best friend Geto, and the conflict is told specifically through the story telling rather than just pitting randoms against each other....oh, speaking of which -> Shibuya Incident - 7/10 This part of the season was easily the most hyped up, and the ratings on different platforms like IMDB illustrate that. Let me stress this first - I liked it. I enjoyed it. BUT... i expected a lot more. JJK manga readers have hyped up this arc for the past year, so of course I was going to expect a lot. The beginning of this arc gave me even more reason to believe it was going to be some epic tale of war and conflict between the opposing sides of the Jujutsu world, but it just didn't happen. It felt more like an epic amount of shock factors piled into parts where story telling could have been added. Almost like filling up your dish with spices but leaving out so much of the meat. This is also the reason why the 'skulls' didn't move me, it didn't feel like a reward to the characters for trying or a satisfying conclusion to character arcs, it just felt like the author wanted to catch his audience by surprise. It was constant fighting, over and over and over again, which I would have found more enjoyable if the shock factors themselves felt more epic or rewarding. I don't want to call it lazy writing because I don't think I have any right to say something like that to a globally achieved author like Gege Akutami, but I was just expecting...more. I still think everyone should watch this season because JJK is a great animanga, this is just me wanting to express my slight disappoint for one of my favourite new gen animangas. Perhaps its more to do with having too great of expectations for this arc, especially since I'm a Shonen fanboy that loves fights just as much as the next man; but all in all, I still feel it was an enjjoyable season. I'm looking forward to the Culling games, and hopefully I can come back with a more satisfied feeling.

I personally loved the first season of JJK, therefore I had high expectations for the second one. What I liked about the first season was the amazing relationships between the characters, the cool concept of jujutsu sorcerers (not too much random cringe powers), the pacing, and also the humor of the show. Basicly none of this continued in the second season. The first part, Satoru's backstory, was cool but I was really excited to see the main cast from the first season again. But when that time finally came I was dissapointed. The amazing chemestry of the first season seemed to be missing. There wasn't nearly enough down time which made the whole incident ark one continues spree of "epic fights''. Don't get me wrong, the fights had great choreography and animation, but because there were so many, and without a break in between, it became really boring after a while. The amout of angst was also a big surprise, I'm still not sure if i liked that or not, which I think says enough. In conclusion: If you are looking to see cool characters fight, and like a bit of angst and gore, I reccomend this show. But if you were hoping for an equally good plot like the first season, mabey think twice. Thanks for reading :)

Surprisingly, I know some people who DO NOT like jjk?! So I guess the anime is not for everyone but I still think the people who didn’t like this are lying haha. Anyway, if you’re reading this review you’re probably not trying to figure out whether you should watch this, since this is a review for the 2nd season so you had to have watched season 1 and loved it! Yes yes this has many deaths but I loved them all! All great anime ought to have some significant deaths or else it’s no fun. That’s pretty much all I wanted to say, if you’re looking for a better review why did you even read mine haha. Oh yes! The fight scenes are insane. Now I’m done. I even have an itadori tattoo…

This is coming from someone who is only familiar with the animated series and not the manga to compare with, and I have to say, it was an okay second season, similar to its predecessors. Story-telling: 6/10 I have been exposed to some manga leaks here and there of some cool looking panels posted online, and I honestly expected some high class story-telling with all the hype, but it sort of came off too childish for me personally, at least in the anime. In fact, watching the plots play out have indeed made me question whether I've mentally grown out of enjoying this sort of content in general... but I doubt that, and this is an action anime that I initially started watching long ago just for fun. So I would not suggest going into this show expecting high-quality writing, that said the world-building for me is extraordinary, and there were definitely some moments that were really awesome to see. Animation: 7.5/10 Every OP and ED in this season are just perfect to watch and listen to. Even from the first season, I can still recall its stellar OP. Truly, on their own, it's just so well-crafted with care. And it makes you wonder what the rest of the animation would have looked like, if it was done with similar time and care than what the management at MAPPA tried in desperately pushing things out last minute. Which quite frankly, I would not expect from a Japanese corporation to exhibit. Keep in mind that it took a week for each episode to be animated. A week. IN the old days, yes that was and is generally still is the norm... but now, what do you think the quality would have been if given, say, two weeks per episode instead? I could only imagine the kind of eye-candy that their animators could produce with today's very fine-tuning technology. It is really shocking to hear how mistreated their animators are, and the time-crunch deadlines for work that will be recalled decades from today (and won't get re-animated/touched upon ever again). If they are going to do it once, they better do it right to the fullest potential. I don't know what kind of "work culture" is happening over at MAPPA headquarters, but from a viewer's perspective it certainly does not embody any respect for work or culture with such mistreatment not just towards the animators, but also to the author for what could have been a way better produced animated series. These heavy time restrains aside, I am impressed with how the animators coped with it. There were some impressive visuals for sure, and the fluidity is just off the charts. Still eye-candy. Voice Acting: 10/10 I'm no expert in discerning whether voice acting is high-tuned good or bad, especially for a foreign language I'm unfamiliar with, but it was leagues above what any English voice actor could accomplish. And it's a shame since EN dubs used to be my go-to for anime, but they just all seem like washed up old geezers who do not fit the character's physique or age for that matter. It really seems like a monopolized voice "industry" in the West that you simply get tired of hearing eventually. Now, I can only watch anime with Japanese set on... but it matches perfectly with the setting and overall vibe with this anime. Overall: ~7/10 I think those are the main points to touch upon. I might have left out some major critics, but these are just what pops into my head on the forefront. Hence, likely what many viewers may feel right off the bat watching this series, that is, going in without manga context. From this season, I came to the conclusion that although it may be an action-packed series, that I should probably pick up the manga as well... as I suspect the anime was rushed and not fully adapted to the expectation of many devoted fans of the source material.

The first 5 episodes are beautiful and I would rate a 10. The action scenes are the best I have ever seen, but the story is lackluster at best, with only a couple of meaningful parts in it that gets drowned out by all of the other nonsense. I give it a 10 for the first 5, a 10 for the action and a 4 for the story. It's 8 instead of a 7 because of Sukuna. MAL sucks and won't let me post this review, so here's whatever this is. Yuji is getting hunted by agent 47 because Sukuna morbs all over the place. Gojo got trapped in the MLP Reddit jar. Geto is back or is he? Cue Vsauce music. Half the cast is eating ramen with Luffy in the soul society, because the author was lazy and didn't like the characters he made. Yay Toji is back, wait nope, guess the author didn't like him either. Gojo goes to the store to get some milk and never comes back. I am not Gito. Who the fuck is Goh Joe.

I watch a ton of anime, rate them on here, and almost never write a review. I had to let my frustrations out on this one... Spoiler Free. It's almost maddening how scrambled this plot is. I'm legit shocked how high people are rating this. Yes, the art, animation, and fighting is amazing. But the story, it's all over the place. Like, how did they mess this up lol. I recommend that anyone who didn't watch the movie (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) to start there after season 1 before even touching this. Even then, prepare to be introduced to characters who you'll have no idea who they are, and then will take over half the season. But wait. They'll toss them aside, introduce more characters, expect you to understand their story and backgrounds, and make you watch unnecessary filler that is meaningless to the story. Some are battles, so it's fine because it's cool to watch. But it really doesn't contribute to the overall story. One thing that season 2 does so horribly is make transitions from one story (or character) to another. Especially in the later episodes, you'll be wishing for more of the mains and less of the randoms. I didn't read the manga, but is this really what the author had in mind? Maybe they should have slowly introduced them in a different way? The fighting and action is fantastic, but I left feeling more puzzled about the story then when I started watching. This easily could have been a 9 or 10 for me with better direction and writing.

This is truly a masterpiece. Before watching, i had the thought that this show is just some ninja rip off, but I decided to watch Jujutsu Kaisen when there was like five episodes of season two, because the hype it gets everywhere, from my friends to the internet. Andseason two really proved that i was absolutely wrong First of all, the music was done well, nothing to complain. I personally love the second opening of this season. Everything was great! Secondly, the story. Truly, i don't have any problem with it, really interesting with good characters. I thought the MC was somehow neglected, but the recent ep isodes made him such a baddass and, have a reasonable personality. Then the most important part that made me fell in love with it, the animation. I have watched a few MAPPA's animes, but this got to be the best one they have ever done. It was stunning, smooth, exciting,... It gives us a detail look about the fights, emotions, story telling. Nevertheless, it's truly sad to know that the employees are forced to overwork, i hope MAPPA will have an overhaul and give them a better work environment, so the animation can reach its 120% potential Overall, just really love this season, 10/10.

JJK's second season comprised of some back story and the Shibuya arc. It was action packed, emotional, but also really brought some of Akutami's writing flaws to the forefront of the story. I liked that we got to know Gojo more. I liked that we got to meet characters that influenced how things came together before the first season. I liked how we gained a deeper understanding into characters we already know fairly well. I also liked the action sequences and that the Shibuya arc did not pull its punches. One thing I wish that the anime had changed as how it handles Akutami's info dump text in the manga. I understand wanting to preserve the look and feel of the manga, but I think there must be a better way to communicate this information in a way that doesn't feel sluggish or like walls of text. Another flaw that plagued the second season is how Akutami writes female characters at times. There was a moment in the Shibuya arc that lost a lot of its potential impact because of this flaw. I'm not sure how the anime could have avoided this particular pitfall, so it was just an inevitable blip. That said, I don't regret watching the second season. I went into it knowing its potential flaws and also the big ticket moments I wanted to see. I'm going to watch the next installment of the anime too even though there are sections to come that I'm not looking forward to due to Akutami's weaknesses with writing the story itself. If you enjoyed season 1 you should give season 2 a watch. The problems in season 2 are similar to the problems in season 1 but affect some of the big ticket items of season 2 moreso than it did with season 1. That said, it's possible the pacing and the plot points might not jive with some people so I can't say I 100% recommend it.

For a show that is considered to be the hype of "Peak Anime", JJK is just another average anime, maybe even below average if you already watch shows that were animated by UFOTABLE or Madhouse. As always, MAPPA has always been so inconsistent about its quality of animation, and they don't even bother about bringing up the hype of each scene they're producing. The story of the JJK itself deserves 8/10. It's not that great, but it's definitely solid for shounen anime enjoyers. Some people said it's because of the environment within the company that made the animators produce such quality. Some people said that all studios overwork they're workers. But that has got nothing to do with how bad they're animating its anime. As they say, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. This may sound cruel, but we viewers are the ones getting the product MAPPA's selling. Anyway, stay strong MAPPA animators. You might want to change company, even though it's not so easy if you're working in Japanese company, but you do what you think is the best.

To me, the animation is great. The plot is messy with too many strings running that I'm sure they'll tie in the last season but there is a lot just left hanging. Lots of shonen action figures clapping together to make some noise with some cool looking fights, you know the drill. I will be honest that I did not find it satisfying compared to the first season and the vibe of things is just off. Just turn your head off and its fine. The animation is honestly amazing, everything else is just mid and I cannot recommend it for anything but the animation at this time.

this anime is amazing. i cannot believe the level care and effort put into the animation, especially ep 17! mappa has done it again! i was beginning to doubt the mal userbase as they seem to give everything at least a 7, but man, even i have to admit, they were right about this one. one of the best adaptation of last year! once the second arc hits, man, it hits hard. some of the best animation since kingdom season 1, maybe even better! i dont know what else to say that hasn't already been said. all i can do is praise mappa for a truly unique adaptation that takes the source material and elevates it to new heights a must watch for anyone who enjoys iyashikei and shonen in general. 10/10 jk real review what the hell happened? the animation in the shibuya arc is okay at best and terrible at worst. clearly MAPPA have stopped caring about the quality of their productions and are solely focused on generating revenue. and why should they care? the season has been receiving rave reviews from nearly every major media outlet—including MAL, whose braindead userbase is eating up this half-baked garbage MAPPA is shitting out. did we watch the same show? i genuinely cannot see how someone with a pair of functioning eyes could watch episode 17 think that it was even close to the quality of any of the season 1 fights. even the overall pacing and direction of the season is pretty hit or miss. some episodes feel like they're directed by completely different people. the fate of MAPPA's other ips is looking grim too. the high praise that fans are giving this latest season of jjk will likely influence MAPPA's attitude towards vinland saga and chainsaw man. "why bother wasting money on high quality animation when we can shit out half colored storyboards and people won't even notice?" actually ruined 4/10. first arc is great though
