We all know that Pokemon isn't a good anime, the storyline and mainly the characters are very shallow. We still love it, because it is nostalgic. I think this is a perfect anime for children and teens who feel nostalgic. Even though we now consider the later seasons anoying and repetitive, children all over the world still love them. It's just that they can't please elder generations who seek more adventure and excitement. We've just fallen out of the target group. In itself, the series are still enjoyable and the art is well attempting to follow the upcoming trends of IT. There is not really a season better than another one, our opinion changes because we grow older.

Pokemon is good but for kids. Let me tell you it is always the same! Ash always gets the badges, Team rocket always beaten and pikacu ALWAYS saves the day. But you know, there is morality so kids can learn from it. I liked it too, it isn't half bad.

Oh Pokemon, oh Pokemon. Let's just face it, most of us have watched at least one episode of Pokemon. Pokemon definitely holds a place in my heart. Nostalgia hits me when I think of it. So let's just start, I hate the fact that this is such a special show to me but I know it isn't exactly great. Story: 6 The story is kind of boring and repetitive, full of fillers and wasteful episodes. But if you watched it as a kid, you know you got inspired by it, to be kind, loving and good to others. It had it's funny scenes that do make you laugh plus some of the Pokemon (like pikachu) are cute. Art:7 While it wasn't exactly great, it was pretty good for something that released in the last century. The characters were pretty 2D but the Pokemon designs are quite adorable and I really do appreciate them for coming up with so many Pokemon designs. Sound:6 The BGM was pretty okay. Not too bad. I do admit that i did sing the Intro theme quite a few times as a kid. Character:5 Most of them were pretty meh. Ash, the ever smiling and loving protagonist. Misty, the typical girl afraid of bug-type pokemon were both mediocre. I liked Brock, not all the time though. Enjoyment: 7 It was definitely a one-of-a-kind thing during it's time. It wasn't exactly "Japanese" though and I felt it has been quite Americanized. But it does teach a few morals of kindness and being a good person and is definitely a starter/beginner type of anime for kids. The games were pretty good. I used to play them until recently. They gave a whole new meaning to the world of RPGs. Overall:7 You watch it as a a kid. Then you watch it when you're older and you begin to see the difference but you just can't help being attached to it because it brings back old memories. The whole idea of pocket monsters, catching them, training them and battling them is quite an awesome concept. Overall, its a pretty Okay show to watch but it's definitely not for the people who don't enjoy too many filler episodes.

[This is the text version of this review. For the video version, visit Ember Reviews on YouTube] Pokemon is probably one of the most basic and clean-cut examples you can find of an episodic adventure series. Ash wants to be the greatest Pokemon master in the world and he refuses to stop until he achieves his goal, and every episode in between is something that either helps him achieve this goal, impedes his progress, or has a lesson to teach him or one of his friends that will aid them in the future. Of course, this kind of structure also means that most of the enjoyment gleamed from this series comes from the strength of each individual episode, which is, unfortunately, very hit and miss. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of really good episodes and even some fantastic ones that are better than some of the adult anime titles I watch now. However, there are also quite a few episodes that just fall into repetitive patterns with wholly uninteresting side characters, and when a long stretch of episodes like this shows up, which happens several times in seasons 3 and 4, it can be a pretty tedious watch. Fortunately, there are definitely a lot more good episodes than bad ones, and when longer story arcs do come into play, the emotional beats they hit are really solid. A lot of my favorite episodes though are ones that put a side character at the center of the plot seemingly just for giggles, such as when Togepi accidentally steals one of Team Rocket’s tanks and they have to stop it before it runs into a populated area, or when Wobbufett is carrying a key to a box that Pikachu is locked in, but he keeps getting tossed around a city in the most cartoonish ways possible. The really weird episodes also tend to stand out either for being extremely creative like having all the Pokemon’s lines being translated for us or having Ash get turned into a Pikachu, or for going about an emotional arc in a unique way, like trapping everyone inside Larvitar’s mind in order to soothe his fractured psyche. Pokemon also has the advantage of pulling ideas from an inherently creative source material, giving it a ton of room to craft new ideas for each episode. However, instead of a straight adaptation of the Pokemon video games, the games’ worlds and structures are there simply as outlines for the writers to create their own story, and, in my opinion, this makes Pokemon the best adaptation of a video game I’ve seen to date. By not forcing an adaptation of a story structure that’s not directly translatable to the TV medium, the series has room to craft its own story and a tone that matches. It still retains the badge collecting plot from the games to serve as a progression marker for Ash’s journey, but many other points have been altered or omitted entirely, such as changing the Pokemon League’s Elite Four challenge into a simpler tournament-style championship. This also gives the series more leeway when constructing its characters, and man do we have some characters. Even without my nostalgia kicking in, I can honestly say that Ash is one of the most fleshed-out and multi-faceted anime characters I’ve ever seen. He dreams of being the very best like no one ever was, but he has to claw his way up from the very bottom to get there. He has a huge stubborn streak and can get really hot-headed at times, especially when goaded on by his rival, Gary, but he’s still a good person at heart who loves and cares for his Pokemon and will go out of his way to help someone in need. He’s not the most intelligent person, which can get a bit infuriating when Team Rocket’s schemes are so blatantly obvious and when he makes amateurish mistakes in battle, but his ingenuity and ability to think on his feet are usually enough to get him out of most situations. When it comes to children’s anime, my favorite kind of main character is an imperfect, relatable role model that always tries their best, and Ash fits the bill to a T while also throwing in a dozen more details to make him feel even more like a real person, and I’d be hard-pressed to write this much about another anime character, save for this next one. Meanwhile, Misty as the female lead is nothing to scoff at either, and she still stands as one of my favorite role models for young girls in any fictional medium. Instead of filling out a traditional feminine stereotype or deliberately going against the grain as an all-out tomboy, Misty treads the less-traveled path of walking straight down the middle. She’s strong-willed and loves to battle, but she’s also into beauty and other feminine ideas. She’s hot-headed and stubborn enough to hang with the boys, but she’s still afraid of bugs. She’s independent and has her own goals to strive towards, but she can also act very motherly and take care of others when she needs to. Many people have been led to call her inconsistent or nonsensical over the years because of this dual nature, but this just makes her an even more interesting character and a better role model for young girls. To me, Misty’s character is saying “you don’t have to be this or that, but you can if you want to be; or you can be both, neither, or a varying balance of the two,” and for a children’s show, that’s a pretty amazing feat. Brock stands up well as a slightly older member of the crew and acts as a strong mentor to Ash when he needs it, though his romantic mishaps can become rather annoying at times, and, unfortunately, there’s really nothing else to his character besides those two things, though to be fair I am comparing him to characters that I just wrote two massive paragraphs about. As for other side protagonists, I don’t have time to talk about them much in detail, but while most of them are there more for Ash’s story to progress, there are a select few that become interesting in their own right and are strong enough to become recurring characters throughout the show. And, of course, what would an adventure series be without some villains, and Team Rocket members Jessie, James, and Meowth fill this role nicely. Again, the repetitive nature can become a bit burdensome at times and that ends up decreasing how threatening they can be in a given situation, but for the most part, they stand up as antagonists to Ash’s progress fairly well, while also adding a ton of comedy to the series as the bumbling idiots that they are, though I think my favorite aspect of them is that they aren’t really evil other than in name. We’re given many glimpses into their pasts throughout the show and how many other things they’ve tried and failed to do, and by the end they come across as villains who are only villains because they need the money to eat instead of some generic puppy-kicking bad guys, and that very subtle blurring of the good/evil dichotomy is a great lesson for both kids and adults. The animation by OLM is, unfortunately, pretty much what you’d expect from a kids’ show. While the bright colors and unique Pokemon designs that adapt Ken Sugimori’s original concept art excellently are still there, the actual animation is about as bare bones as you can possibly get, complete with whooshing backgrounds that anime has used for decades as a cheap way of conveying speed or intensity. While the battles themselves can be pretty exciting at times, it usually not because of stellar fight choreography, so the series has to rely on its creativity and the strength of its story to carry the action sequences through. Pokemon is also one of the few anime that changed over from cel-animation to digital within a single season instead of waiting for time off to make the switch, and you can definitely see that they needed a little more time to adjust to their new tools. With the soundtrack, Shinji Miyazaki does a great job of adapting Junichi Masuda’s themes from the original video games, while also adding in his own tracks for more variety. Additionally, though I can’t find out who it was, some tracks were replaced by another composer fo…

Let me grab your antension attention and let's talk about the Pokemon series. In the late 90's Pokemon was one of the first anime series introdused to America and other countries and was marketed more to the youngest audience so I won't be so harsh with it. Let's talk about... STORY: 5/10 The anime's main story is all about the character Ash Ketchum trying to make his dream to become a Pokemon master come true. He encounters many friends in his way, some just show once and vanish forever and some continue to follow him trying to make their dreams come true too as well. Well.. as a anime marketed to the youngest audience it doesn't have much of a serious plot, Half of the episodes are just wondering around, some of them feeling like mini-stories. The actual reason that makes the story bad is because it keeps repeating itself over and over. Not to mention it's censored about the Japanese culture and the show is completely Americanised, example: (Riceballs replaced with Sandwitch). ART: 8/10 Even someone who never seen the Pokemon series once in his life he could easily judge it's a 90's anime by the art, when judging the art you should judge when it was made too, you cant compare it to any current anime's art. The backgrounds and the environment are well detailed and by the way they're drawed you could simply recognise to which anime the art belongs. SOUND: 10/10 Except that Pokemon was one of the first anime series introdused to America and other countries it the dubbed version by 4Kids has the most recognizable opening theme in the world, really makes you to overflow with the passion of adventure... Once you hear it one it get's edged into your brain forever..! I have to mention that Pokemon have 9 album disks (English) talking about the series, some are shipping songs. CHARACTERS: 8/10 The main character is Ash Ketchum, he's a kid who's willing to risk even his life in some situations to save his friends, he's stuborn and doesn't give up easiliy to his believes. He has many rivals but I will talk just about Gary Oak. He's the character type who's making of others like Ash but he actually deeply respects their talents, he's a pure troll and a womanizer for a 10 year old... Misty's dream is to become a master at water Pokemons, her character is a tsundere. She actually likes Ash Ketchum and that can be see in some episodes. And lastly Brock is a about 14-16Yo in the series, he's a gymleader specialiced at rock type Pokemon, he's a sucker for any breathing been with a hole Ehm.. I mean a woman and he fails everytime to get a lady like him back, how many times he's turned down he's still trying ^_^ (My life...) ENJOYMENT 9/10 This is my personal experience, except that isn't much going on in the story section I really enjoyed watching this show as a child and even today I would still enjoy it, it all comes back to the nostalgia thing. The show is kinda slice of life too if you look it from my perspective we just sit back having our meal and watching them trying their best to because what they wanna be... I would recommend giving this series a chance :D

Hell yeah, Pokemon. If you were a kid back in the Late '90's to the late 2000's, you can remember that feeling whenever you watched an episode of Pokemon. Joy, Excitement and ready to see if Ash will Catch ém all. You wake up at 7 in the morning, flip it to network 10, grab a bowl of Froot Loops and Enjoy yourself. Or, if you were a Power Rangers fan, you'd do the same thing, except an Hour later. Well, that's just how it was for me, because I live in Australia. Truly, a masterpiece for Children and teens alike. ..... But is it as good as I can remember? *Dodges Flaming arrow*Alright, Alright, I'm not saying this is a bad anime by any standards, in fact it's probably one of the more popular ones, being parodied in South Park and The Simpsons, but if you can remember your childhood, you know you weren't the smartest kid (And if you were, I kinda doubt you would've watched Pokemon) and just because it brings back Nostalgia, doesn't mean it's the absolute Pinnacle of Existence. So let's Revisit this Seizure-filled Goodness in this Review (I swear, I'll keep the Seizure jokes at a minimum) Story: Ash is a 10 Year old boy who sets out on a Journey to become a Pokemon master. Joined by his two friends, Misty and Brock, they travel Kanto to...uh....Catch Ém all? Honestly, Ash's Goal isn't explained too well. Does he want to catch All 150+ Pokemon? Does he want to beat the Pokemon League? Does he want to prove to his Rivals that he's the greatest in a Competition? I really don't know. And each Episode takes a different story to tell and Introduce a Pokemon. Though, I'm being harsh, as these stories were definitely a lot of fun as a kid, which is their Target audience, so it makes sense. I'll never forget the Sabrina Mini-Arc. Should I start therapy after the Arc, or when the nightmares come back? And who can forget the Pokemon League? Oh, Charizard, will you ever listen to anyone? There's even 4 Episodes pulled out of rotation which I didn't even know about or viewed until 2 years ago. to give you a run down: Beauty and the Beach: The Anime beach episode with Fanservice(?), Old women (Luckily not linked) and.....James with Boobs?!? Surprisingly, after all that, this eventually got an English dub. Though, with the obvious cut of James'gender Confusion Legend of Dratini: Guns, Hitler and Ash suddenly has 30 Tauros The Ice Path: Racism and Piloswines Electric Soldier Porygon: STROBE LIGHTS INTENSIFY But all in all, it's a tonne of fun to see what lengths our heroes will get through in these Zany adventures to reach their Ultimate goal, as misguided as it may be. Story: 7/10 Art: Though Simplistic compared to other Anime, you can't really see these characters as much more then with these designs. And if they were to get a Normal Realistic look, it would ruin it for the Kiddies. The Backgrounds are Neatly painted, the Cartoon-ish Character designs are always a laugh after Re-watching, and the Pokemon look better than their Gen I Sprites (Shudder) Even though I viewed these aspects via my Old Pokemon VHS tapes I recorded from 2002 (Grainier than a Grain harvest) and some SD Episodes on the internet, I can still say it Delivers fun, even if it is a 2-Dimensional Drawing. Art: 9/10 Sound: Who doesn't get that feeling when they hear the opening chords to the Pokemon theme? Power Rangers fans, I guess. Oh, and Digimon fans. Come to think of it, not a whole lot. But it still stands that this was the song to my Childhood. I spent Classes playing Game Boy Advance, Trading holographic Cards and reading the-Then Confusing Manga, while having the Pokemon Theme on Loop on my MP3 Player. It's just the song that goes with Pokemon. Screw the Newer themes in seasons 2-5 and onwards, this is my Youth Song. Oh yeah, and the Background music is decent. The Voices sound like Kids to an extent, and the villains sound like the Cliched "Doctor Evil Guy with a Top Hat, Cape and Mustache" which sounds cool, and meowth and Pikachu sound adorable. Only in this review will you hear someone say that Meowth is adorable. It all blends well with what we're given. Overall, Child like fun and wonder reigns supreme. Music: 8/10 Characters: I remember in classes, someone would ask me, "Who would you like to be in the Pokemon Show?" I'd always say I don't know, because I couldn't relate to them. But now I can see why I said I don't know all those times. they're just...Boring. They've barely got any personalities to distinguish themselves from another's Character trait. Ash is like Oatmeal, Misty is like Wheat Toast and Brock is like Styrofoam. In other words, TOO PLAIN! Gary was a douche for the first 5th of the show, The Characters of the Day weren't too well thought out, Psyduck went from annoyingly-Funny to Annoying in a Nanosecond and good God, I dislike Charizard for being such an ass to Ash. In fact, unlike other Pokemon fans, i actually don't see what's so special about Charizards. *Blinkalink Phone Meassages* Wow, 5,000 Hate messages in a meer 20 Seconds due to an opinion. A new record. I just don't see him as overly-Great. I'd always get Arcanine, Ninetails or Magmar if I wanted a strong OBEDIENT pokemon. If I dislike these characters so much, why did I even put this section on the review? I'll tell you why: Jessie and James! They brought an awesome element to the show. They only wanted Ash's Pikachu for a quick Buck to help them out while they're starving. Ash could easily get it back after they sold it. Okay, I digress. Jessie is a girl who wanted to become a Nurse Joy and help Pokemon. but, I guess, every Nurse Joy had to look alike, and she was expelled from more teachings. Her life eventually got Crappier until she decided to join the Other side of crime. James is a Guy who was born in a rich family, but never wanted all the Luxuries. He ran away after a fight, and decided with Jessie, to join the other side. This Guy is my Favourite, due to his British Accent, his Awesome Hair, his less Sexualised Outfit, his love of Roses and his Charm. But most of all, he loves all of his Pokemon. Weezing always got love from James and he tried his absolute hardest to love a Magikarp. And when Victreebel got released, it brought a tear to my eye. Several in fact. I've even heard that he's loved even more Pokemon in future series, like Cacnea, Mime Jr. and even a Chimecho! And Meowth, the wise Cracking Cat. I'll never tire of him. But my main concern is how they treat Jessie and James. they treat them like Garbage! Why is it that Ash, a loser who abandons a Muk as soon as possible, get's all the luxuries, and James, a Person with a love for Cute Pokemon, gets Tortured every day for trying to live a normal everyday life and trying to have a conversation with people? Yes, he did a Bad thing in the past, but you can forgive him. Don't attack them everytime they try to have a stroll. All in all, they were Neat for the Late 90's, but goddamnit, they piss me off nowadays. Characters: 5/10 Enjoyment: Did I enjoy the Pokemon craze as a kid? That's like asking Monkey D. luffy from one piece if he Enjoys food. Hell Yeah! Even to this day, if I blank out CERTAIN CHARACTER TRAITS, then I can feel that Nostalgia kick in. I think that's the keyword here: Nostalgia. It comes back to you and you enjoy it more than ever like you would if you were a little kid. Enjoyment: 10/10 Overall: It's sort of a mixed bag for me. I love how the Nostalgia Kicks in, but i ahte some of the Character's treatments in the show. I love seeing old faces come back, but i dislike their bland Personalities. But I loved the craze as a kid, and if you watch it like a kid in the 90's (Not analyzing every minute detail in an episode) then you'll know why kids loved it so much. It was addicting. Though you can definetely skip the Filler episodes if you haven't got too much time on your hands. I couldn't stop playing Pokemon Emerald until I caught them all, which I did.....last year. Hey, 386 Pokemon is a difficult task. i loved th…

Disclaimer: if you aren't interesting in Pokemon (e.g. game, cards, manga etc.) then you're wasting your time here. It has indeed been a long, captivating journey for myself as well as our Poke-master wannabe Ash. Note that my review is based on the Dubbed version. (The only anime on my list that i think works Better as a dub) I know that in terms of technical anime critique, Pokemon should really only scrape a 3 or 4 from me - and those points are basically covered by the anime's sheer scale. Although i pride myself on being quite "professional" when it comes to reviewing; like many others, i'm finding it very frustrating to pass judgement on the original Pokemon show, as i know in technical terms that it's not nearly up to par with all of the other anime I've seen - and yet... i like it, i really like it! Pokemon fans in particular will know what i'm talking about here when i say nostalgia... Pokemon boasts an incredibly unique premise, a completely out-of-this-world idea that shows how it was all derived from a set of blockbuster games. This is all the anime has to defend itself really, and here's why... As a kid growing up with Pokemon cards and what not, i guess you could say that Pokemon successfully captured my imagination early on; it didn't take long until i felt the true scale and began to understand more about those hundreds of pocket-able monsters that feature throughout Pokemon culture. Surprisingly, i never watched the anime, or played the games until recent years, where a group of Pokemon-playing friends brought about a resurgence in my interest for the fandom. So... Why? Why did i start watching? Well it should be quite obvious that you NEED an interest in the brand name before you can watch Pokemon, and like everyone else here, i watched it out of a mixture of curiosity, nostalgia and interest. Having completed Pokemon, i don't regret it at all, as a whole, the show has taught me infinitely - even if it's fantasy logic. And although i can't really pinpoint a specific episode and say, "i loved it when...", by watching Pokemon, it's really just become a way of life - like Ash on his journey. ONTO THE ACTUAL CRITIQUE The story is thin and can be accurately summarized in one sentence, the art and sound is mediocre, and the characters are relatively devoid of depth - but this isn't what people consider when watching. Millions of people (myself included) have a respect for Pokemon, and so despite how it preforms in terms of statistics, it doesn't take much in this show for it to seem incredibly sentimental and/or relevant. In some ways i guess you could say that Pokemon is almost scary in terms of brand power, in that it always seems to have its way of reserving a place for itself in people's minds. Enjoyment... Of course, i really enjoyed this original series - and not only for its charming and familiar premise... Pokemon is s very cartoon and slapstick styled show in terms of its presentation, and so it seldom takes itself too seriously - remember this is a show aimed for young-ens (not that this is an excuse for it being so shallow). The whole run of this anime carries with it an uplifting and at the same time, escapist and relaxing feel; as regardless of its presentation limitations, it's an anime that can't help being so immersive. It's not exactly a surprise when you come to consider how far fetched and unique it is on almost all fronts - as i mentioned before, it captures the imagination like nothing else I've ever seen. Pokemon is a show that, pretty soon on; will have you immersed to the point where you want to become the next Pokemon master... The show treats its viewers to an audiovisual, escapist feast - and that is perhaps the best aspect of the anime: its ability to allow oneself to sweep aside their real life issues and for just 22 minutes, be carefree and reunite with their child self. Perhaps this renders the whole show as more of a therapeutic kick than a "must watch". If you haven't already gathered the gist of why Pokemon is unalike pretty much every anime - it's that it relies on previous consumer attraction for it to work at all, and if you've been bitten by the Pokemon bug, there is quite simply nothing quite so wonderfully captivating - as its cartoon-esq nature and premise will provide you with an indescribable concoction of escapist realities. All in all it's extremely circumstantial... Are you a Pokemon fan? No? Then you'll hate it and won't appreciate it at all (with good reason in all honesty) Yes? Then perhaps this show will allow you to escape as you did many a year ago - as its nostalgic nature has the ability to make you curious like a kid again. So do with Pokemon what you must Pokefans... The story is extremely repetitive, and so the whole anime maintains almost the exact same undertones throughout - meaning that you will either find an unbeatable warmth in its storytelling, or nothing at all.

Pokemon used to be my childhood favorite anime. In fact, the Pokemon anime is an adaptation of the Nintendo gameboy in 1995. The video games are great. However, as time goes by, I realized that when I watch it as an adult. I finally realized why Pokemon becomes a shell of its former self. STORY (3): The story starts off with Ash Ketchum. The word "Ketchum" means Gotta Catch 'Em All. His goal is to become a Pokemon Master. A Pokemon Master is a person who trains pokemon well and the rest was never explained. Pokemon are just creatures that can be absorbed into a pokeball. There is no logic or reason behind it. The story is just a mindless adventure with repetitive plots. ART (5): At that time, the animation is decent. SOUND (5): I did like the opening song and the song "Mezase Pokemon Master". CHARACTER (3): The only decent character are Misty, Pikachu & Brock. However, their character development are squandered in the remaining episodes. Misty sometimes she can be aggressive. Brock was smart however he is interested in the ladies. Of course, a kids show wasn't complete with at least one person who is obsessed in the ladies. Normally, Brock's face turned red when he sees attractive women. Ash was a bland character. Even like Nurse Joyce has a lot of cousins. Not to mention so many clones of Jenny the police officer. Team Rocket are one of the worst villains I have ever witnessed. The problem is every episode Team Rocket do their signature intro and hatch up an evil plan and finally get their asses handed over. Rinse and repeat. A villain is normally required to build tension or excitement in any show. However, if a villain is easily defeated, then it kills the tension or excitement. What's more annoying is that Team Rocket appears in every episode. Team Rocket is a trio group Jesse, James and a talking cat Meowth. CONCLUSION (4): Pokemon once an entertaining series, now becomes a shell of its former self due to the reasons I have mentioned above. A terrible show has repetitive elements and no tension which Pokemon has suffered from. If you want to relieve your nostalgic moments, go ahead and watch it. If you want something more entertaining, I would say skip it. If you enjoyed this show a lot, good for you.

Pokemon, most of have already heard of it, but surely they can't be that great right? Wrong!! These funny episodes follow our hero Ash as he battles to become the 'Pokemon Master.' When I first saw an episode of Pokemon I was very young so I don't recall it, but all I will say is that the originals are kind of so much better then the new ones. On Ash' adventures you meet, Brock, Misty (and to all you pokemon fans out there, of course, pikachu) and lots of gym leaders. It is quite funny (thanks to miaowths not so funny jokes) and also thanks to team rockets vain attempts. It's quite easy to understand, but sadly the new pokemon adventures get a bit boring for all the people who have watched the old ones. I definitely reccomend pokemon.

The original Pokemon anime was an amazing, wholesome show with tons of charm and soul that paired perfectly with the video games, movies, and trading card game. It's hard to name any other single franchise that had as much reach as Pokemon did during its peak, and being a part of it at the time felt more like a major experience than just watching another cable TV show. The show's characters are inspiring and their adventure was fun to watch. The progress that the main characters make throughout the series isn't always linear or predictable, meaning that there's always a reason to keep watching to see how things pan out. Additionally, their progress often comes with realistic moments of failure or other heartwrenching events that really drive home the idea of it being a proper adventure.

Pokemon....one of the most well known, loved series of all time. Many people grew up with it, and many grew out of it. I personally still love this anime to death. Its still a belevold classic series, and my first anime. It will always be one of my favorites. It is a series great for childern. There are people who hate this series and think its stupid and repetitive. Well, so is One Piece, Bleach, Detective Coan, and Naruto. Yes, it still isnt the best, but in my opinion it is lovable and cute. For those of you who dont know, Pokemon follows the story of Ash Kethum, otherwise known as Satoshi in Japan. He is a 10 year old boy who is on a quest to become a Pokemon master, and catch 'em all. (That didnt work out to well for him). Anyways, Pokemon are mysterious monsters that people catch and train. Ash sleeps late and doesnt get to chose his starter Pokemon. He only gets one choice, Pikachu, a cute mouse like Pokemon that uses electric shocks from its checks as a defensive power basicly. Ash and Pikachu become friends, and they become very close. They travel together, along with other characters with them. Misty, otherwise known as Kasumi in Japan, is a water type Pokemon trainer who is also a gym leader. And Brock, AKA, Takashi, who is a rock tyoe trainer and a gym leader. He wants to become a Pokemon breeder. They travel around Kanto (The region they live in)., The Orange Islands, and the Johto region. Ash collects gym badges in order to go in the Pokemon Leauge. Along the way, he catches new Pokemon, and they fight Team Rocket, the main villians in the anime. The series is fairly long. 200+. So it will give you a fair amount of time to complete. Most of the episodes are canon, and not filler, so dont think its like Naruto. Most of the episodes are funny, enjoyable, and memorable. You will have a good time watching this anime, because almost all the episode's are funny. The soundtrack is fine. The original Japanese opening songs are all good, catchy, and memorable. The music itself is catchy, In a good way. You will end up loving the music. The english dub has great opening music too. The characters are lovable, nothing wrong with them. I personally think that Team Rocket is awesome, and very memorable. I mean, the character development isnt anything like Naruto or anything, but you can tell characters mature. The series has old art, but its mostly fair. As it goes on, the art becomes better. It may be old, but I love old art, so I do enjoy the old art more then the newer art that appear in the newer episodes. Overall, I do recommend this for younger childern. It dosnt have anything wrong with it, unless you watch the original japanese version. Some things is a litle mature. For a n me wer anime fan, I would recommend it since it is simple. I cant recommend it to everyone, but it is a classic. Everyone should give it a try. It is one of my favorite animes after all.

In the beginning, it was an action packed adventure, but nearing the end, it became monotonous. Ash as a character became more and more banal and the fact that he left his friends after the season made me angry. Overall, I thought that it was a pretty decent storyline, but the antagonist used the same old attack. The fact that the protagonist didn't recognize it right away astounded me. Other than that, it was a well written and acted out story. If the protagonist didn't leave his friends at the end, it would have been even better. (Notice: I like happy endings)

Pokemon. Yeah, who doesn't know pokemon? The series where you catch pokemon, battling trainers, and beating gym leaders & champion to be the very best. Yeah, it's so popular. I liked it when I was child, on sunday morning TV show, I got addicted until I had to watch it every week. Now I'm 18 and I began to looked down on it Story: 3/10 Satoshi (I call him Satoshit) is a typical shounen character who WANNA BE THE VERY BEST. Seriously, what's the reason of it anyway? Why do you want to be the best by doing cockfight and catching animals also make them fight each other for no apparent reason? You meet the girl, Kasumi and broke her bicycle. Making her follow you until you repair her bicycle. What the heck? I don't know for what reason the company follow Satoshit on his journey. This anime has no plot at all, almost every episode you only meet SO MANY random people who doesn't have anything with it, you only interfere in their problem, which made this anime stalling, and complete boring, TOO MANY FILLERS, TOO MANY ANNOYING MINOR CHARACTERS. There were some sad moments, honestly, and those were quite decent, though. After beating the 16 gym leader, Satoshit lose in the end and goes to another region. For what? I still don't know about it. Then there's annoying Team Rocket who usually blast off in alomost every episodes, struggling only to catch pikachu. Srlsly, isn't there any pikachu around? You can search them anyway, also pikachu wasn't that strong. The villain we got here is just team rocket who wanna conquer the world and pokemon for no apparent reason. Meh, cliche... Characters: 2/10 Satoshit is just a clumsy 10 years old typical shounen who didn't grow up AT ALL, still being silly until last episode, even the next generations. He's also still 10 years old!! It's sillier than others. Also I found Kasumi just being an annoying girl with water pokemon, no apparent character development anw. Also the rock gym leader, Takeshi, is also annoying. Flirting girl everytime he meet, just meh. Anw, they had made quite good comedy, though. Sound: 6/10 I watched the original Japanese version. Mezase Pokemon Master was quite decent, I have no problem at all, not good and not bad also. Sountrack were ok enough Art: 6/10 Being in 1997, the art was ok. 'Nuff said... Overall: 3/10 The anime was utterly shit, even though with quite good comedy. They wasted 276 episode just to watch the main character lose without any character development, and begin to the other region to do the same thing. Why ppl give this anime such a good score? Maybe they're just Pokemon fanatics, you better read the manga or watch the movies. Digimon anime & movies and pokemon movies are WAY better for me, no offense.

Pokémon. One of my favorite shows as a kid Pokémon today gets a lot of hate, and for good reason. What was once a respectable show is now a money hungry, grubby kids show aimed at innocent children with a repetitive formula. But let me take you back to a time when this wasn’t the case. A time where Pokémon felt genuine, and the only reason it existed was to entertain and teach about the wonderful world of Pokémon! Now I’m not speaking here as a man who’s watched this only as a kid. I’ve seen the entire original series (with and without friends) as a grown man, and let me tell you why it’s great! STORY: the story is a pretty simple, somewhat of an original setup for its time, yet executes the hell out it! I won’t get into spoilers, but it has all the makings of a great anime ART & ANIMATION: The animation is fluent and amazing, especially for its time. The characters, the scenery, and the Pokémon! are well drawn(although there is the typical anime cliche where all characters look similar in a certain fashion). The scenery may get repetitive, but you’ll never really ever notice, you’ll be too focused on the show! SOUND & FX: Superb, 10/10. All the pokémon(even dubbed) sound great. This is undoubtedly one of the best dubbed anime ever dubbed vs. subbed: Now before I continue, I must address the issue with the dubbing. A lot of people hate it, but a majority hate the wrong one. Confused? I’ll explain. Before the Diamond and Pearl Series, the original company who owned the pokémon anime sold it’s rights to another company, who after the 8th season, replaced the entire staff from the dubbed Pokémon series. the reason for this is the typical reasoning of “kids know dick”, and thought all english speaking children wouldn’t even TELL the difference. Big mistake. After that, Pokémon became a soulless cash cow recycling the same formula that made the original so perfect! Not just for the dub, but the original japanese version too. Also, the dubbed version made numerous mistakes trying to be appealing to American/Canadian audiences. It worked as much as your grandpa or lame teacher trying to be “hip” with the youngsters’. -_- FINAL THOUGHTS: I love the games, and maybe that’s the reason why I applaud the show so much, but it’s also the reason why I know the difference between an epic anime and a terrible show when it comes to Pokémon. The show is great for all audiences. The humor hit me like a brick, and I enjoyed every episode of the original series.

Pokemon, being one of the most famous animes in history has always been exciting and fast paced. Ash and his friends set off to amazing adventures to become the ultimate pokemon master. Especially famous in the US, Pokemon never seems to end. Anybody will enjoy this anime for its quality and plot as you get the know pikachu, ash, and his friends. Enjoy!

The original Pokemon anime is one of those series that is nearly impossible to view objectively if you grew up with it and the games. So much nostalgia is hopelessly intertwined with these childhood adventures. Overall it's a solid anime that anyone who is a fan of the game series should watch at some point, if only to understand the cultural impact of the franchise in the west as a whole. I can't say for sure how much a person who didn't play the games would enjoy this, however. All things considered, the Pokemon anime is a solid children's anime and a great snapshot of the nerd-culture zeitgeist of the late 90s.

This is a childhood classic that have watched twice and I am watching it again this time in Japanese. Ahh Pokémon. I am a big fan of the video game franchise that kicked off the TCG, anime, manga, figures, plushes and all the other stuff this cashcow produces. Most of these things are of amazing quality especially the anime and manga. In this review I will be covering the most popular story arc the First Generation arc. Story: Satoshi (Ash) Ketchum is a ten year old boy living in the small-town of Masara (Pallet). He has always wanted to be the number one Pokémon trainer in the world. When it is the day for him to get his first Pokémon he runs late and is unable to choose from the normal Fushigidane (Bulbasaur), Hitokage (Charmander), or Zenigame (Squirtle) as they have all been taken. Okido Hakasae (Professor Oak) gives Satoshi a feisty Pikachu who will grow to become his best friend and ally. Satoshi has a rival and he is a total douchebag. Okido Shigeru (Gary Motherfucking Oak) is always ahead of Satoshi and is a total prick. He lightens up in newer seasons. His starter Pokémon is Zenigame a water type turtle Pokémon. Along the journey Satoshi meets Kasumi (Misty) a tsundere tomboyish "mermaid" who is a water type trainer, and Takeshi (Brock) a rock hard romanticist who aims to become a Pokémon Breeder. Takeshi looks over the two as an older brother type figure. He is cool as hell. Satoshi must battle the eight gym leaders to earn their badges to compete in the Pokémon League Tournament, a semi-regional tournament for the best Pokémon Trainers which contrasts to the Boss Rush in the games. There is a filler arc called the Orange Archipelago arc but it was mostly shit. Satoshi loses the league and gets depression for 10 minutes and then moves on to gen 2. Art: The art is really well done. The characters have iconic sharp designs and all the Pokémon look better than the ingame sprites in Blue version the most recent game when the anime was made. The backgrounds are really dynamic, and the effects used for moves look great. It does however show its age and does have some off model moments in pivotal scenes. Sound: The OST is amazing. The orchestrated tracks from the games sound amazing and the anime is well known for it's amazing remixes of popular themes. I really like the remix of the Wild Pokémon theme and the Gym battle theme. The voice acting in the sub is good, but i haven't gotten far enough to know how it compares to more recent seasons. Fun fact: Musashi (Jessie) shares the same voice actor as Ayanami Rei. The dub is somewhat tolerable. It isn't good but the voices are Okay. It gets bad in season 2. Eric Stuart tho fuck yes. The Pokémon voices are very cute in both languages and fit really well. The Openings in both languages are amazing. The sub uses Mesaze Pokémon Master while the Dub uses Gotta Catch Ém All. Both are really catchy tunes and are reused throughout the series. In fact the Japanese Opening can be heard in Pokémon Pinball for the GameBoy Color. Characters:The characters are a mixed bag. Here is a list of important characters. Satoshi (Ash)- Energetic 10 year old boy who is a bad Pokémon trainer but wants to be the top trainer Pikachu- Satoshi's best friend and companion Takeshi (Brock)- 1st gym leader and second member of the group. Is a romanticist and older brother figure to Satoshi and Kasumi. Wants to be a Pokémon breeder. Glue of the group. Rock type trainer. Kasumi (Misty)- First member of the group. 2nd Gym leader. Tsundere frenemy of Satoshi who secretly has a crush on him. A tomboy yet girly at the same time. Water type trainer Togepi- Baby Pokémon Kasumi takes care of Musashi (Jessie) and Kojiro (James)- Comedic villains who along with their talking Nyarth try to steal Pikachu from Satoshi but are so incompetent and sometimes borderline making the viewer question Kojiro's sexuality, that they become some of anime's most memorable villains up there with Freeza, Madara, The Angels, and the entire fucking Pico OVA series. Nyarth (Meowth)- Smartest cat around. Able to talk and is very smartmouthed and is a street-smart character due to his tragically hilarious backstory. Lieutenant Machisu (Surge)- 3rd gym leader. Arnold Schwarzengger wannabe. Edgelord. Electric type trainer. Erika- 4th Gym Leader. Timid girl. Tends to flowers. Runs an exclusively female gym. Grass type trainer. Natsume (Sabrina)- 5th Gym Leader. Cold and emotionless woman who controls a doll of a younger version of herself. Mindfucks with her opponents and traps them in her world. Psychic type trainer. Kyo (Koga)- 6th Gym Leader. Ninja boi. Poision Trainer. Katsura (Blaine)- Old hippy guy. 7th Gym Leader. Fire type trainer. Sakaki (Giovanni)- Evil crime boss of team rocket. 8th gym leader. Mewtwo- Clone of Mew owned by Sakaki that goes rogue. Hirosie- Satoshi but good. Has Sparky the Pikachu Gary Motherfucking Oak- 10 badges I will always enjoy this classic from my childhood and reccomend it highly

I feel like this review requires a disclaimer of sorts... It's pretty much taken for granted that Pokémon is just where every anime fan who was a child in the late 90s and onward started, and that's not really the case for me. Make no mistake, I logged countless hours on the games, I saw quite a lot of the anime, and I had a sizeable card collection at one point, but Pokémon was not the first great love of my anime life. Digimon and Beyblade were the shows that really sucked me in and made me fall in love with the story and characters. Pokémon was kind of just there. And while there were certain aspects I enjoyed, I have never claimed to be the biggest Poke-fan out there. I'm sure that greatly colored this experience-- when I decided to watch it all the way through as an adult and judge it as I would any other anime. What I mean to say is... the prescription in my nostalgia glasses isn't nearly as strong as it could have been. Although the characters can be a little bland or one-note too, it has always been the plot that I've held up as Pokémon's weakest point. Each season it's more or less the same (unreasonably drawn out) trek to win enough badges to enter (and not come out on top in) that region's Pokémon League. New faces and places maybe, but there's really not much to the story. I'm sure the whacky in-between adventures the gang had along the way weren't supposed to be viewed as filler, but that was often how it felt to me. I don't mean for it to come across like this experience was all awful. Some of their filler adventures were better than others. I was particularly fond of the episodes that focused on the Pokémon themselves, showing off their individual personalities. And I think Gary Oak is a fascinating character who grows a lot over the course of the series, and who I wish had gotten a little more focus. But it was the gym battles and tournament arcs that really interested me, so my attitude towards the multitude of in-between stories featuring characters and plots who would never be important past their one little showcase episode tended to swing between 'Well that was cute and fun' and 'For the love of all that is holy, can they just get to the next town already?!' Seriously. By the time I started keeping track of that sort of thing, we were talking 20-30 episodes between gym battles. And on that note... I can't leave any review on a wholly critical note. Let's be honest here. 276 is a massive number of episodes to be encompassed in a single review. And I have to admit, by the time our heroes reached Johto, the writers had already taken measures to assuage a lot of my main complaints. A lot of minor characters made reappearances. There were quite a few strings of episodes that were directly connected to the episodes before it. Ash's Johto team, overall, definitely had a lot more personality-- and spent more time out of their balls-- than his Kanto one. And lastly, it is worth noting that Kanto and Johto weren't really my generations. I played a little of those games on other people's files, but I didn't play a Pokémon game all the way through on my own until Sapphire. So there was no added thrill here to see familiar Pokémon or gym leaders animated. That might add a lot to my enjoyment of the next few seasons, as I am quite familiar with the game version of Hoenn. But I guess we'll see. Maybe it's not fair to judge a kid's show by adult standards. And in its very essence, Pokémon does have the feel of a show specifically for kids. Not just in the sense that their dark moments are few and far between, but because it feels like the perfect show to just throw on to entertain your kids for a few hours. It doesn't require a lot of attention to keep up with the story, and I personally don't think it says much for a show to say you can skip dozens of episodes at a time without the main plot suffering much. I'm interested to see how the familiarity will affect my enjoyment for the next few seasons, but as for the beginning of Pokémon... I think it's safe to say it's one of the few shows I've officially grown out of.

Pokemon how many times havent i wondered wether to call it an anime or just label it as a cartoon. Though i know Anime is any cartoon made in japan i have still had big reservance against calling it an anime though thats not what im here to review or say. I actually have to complain more on the fact that this site havent divided the different pokemon seasons up better since it sucks how they almost makes one write a mega big review. Eventhough i will do my best to review the different places or seasons that ashe/Satoshi went through to give whoever that reads this a better understanding. I will review Kanto journey , Orange island and jotho journey seperate but i will still pull thoughts form the former ones when reflecting but i will form thoughts about any of these seasons and take a season that came after as example i will only take what was before not what will come. The consept is great and the games made pokemon greater as it was even when i watched the series when i was younger. At that time i thought everything was great about this anime and it couldnt get any better. In a sence that was right but in another way no. Now that i have been exposed to the type of anime i wasnt able to watch at the time i can give a mostly objective view on this great childhood memory. Kanto journey(the beginning one might say) : I loved the story as it went and i felt they really made ash stronger as he went. You might call his pikachu as slightly op at times but one cant deny what he had to go through to get there he went. Ash or Satoshi depending on dub and sub never slacked off on aiming for his dream of becomming a pokemon master and thats what the story showed all the way. The consept of evolution and the variations of it is unique to this series and is one the things that will define it as it gets bigger The variation of pokemon is also something that cant be pointed out too many times and how every pokemon is as different from eachother as we human are. Only thing is that there are things with it that will get repetive and annoying one of those being the endless team rocket who ruins episodes that has the potential of becoming great ones. They have a place in this first season but they at times take too much of it eventhough they are also fun to watch when you see the interaction between them. There are also some things which pisses me of greatly but if i talk too much about them it would spoil that which i should not. Orange Islands: One might say this about every pokemon season that it fits the entire story of all three seasons but thats wrong. In Orange Island Satoshi will challenge the orange league and this story is completely different than the original because here they have to travel from island to island through oceans and everything there is to challenger and get the badges that will grant him the oppurtunity to challenge the orange league. Though this is alot shorter than the previous you can clearly see the changover from the original journey to this. The johto journey: Its what one might say as the true or clearer continuation after kanto since this johto is as vast as Kanto but with even more pokemon. At times i have found myself liking this season to a certain degree more than its predecessor eventough that might sound blasphemous to some. One of the reason is not the amount of extra pokemon but that the johto region feels more knitted together and has a more clearer path through it. It should be said that Johto season are divided by two different archs or seasons but they still have the same region so i count them as one. As the seasons before it shows pokemons evolution but also things that which is more mysterious and some things which is more on the scientific. Wont really say that the music will change for anyone who will be watching it but the opening will and i tell you there are few openings to pokemon that you will forget counting the every journey Satoshi makes. The johto region got one of the most memorable openings atleast if you watch it in Dub since i never got to watch them sub. Pokemo is a cherished childhood memory that i keep revisiting from time to time and no matther how old i get i think it will have a special place because thats how much i enjoyed it but here is the fact that if im going to review this as an anime i cant miss its faults as an anime which is also why i gave it a 7 eventhough had you asked me 10 or more years back i would have said 10/10 every day of the week. So overall one of the bigger problems long anime has is its repetiveness which i feel in pokemon is overshadowed by team rockets more or less annoying atempts that gets to too frustrating and that for some the story might have felt that it never became older you might say. It feels too much the same at times which kinda gets shown clearer when ash never seem to grow older or never show a sign of maturity in the people side and only matures on the side of training pokemon. Hey yeah i know this is a kids anime how much should i expect but thats still something that i find lacking when it comes to the johtos as an example. Overall a 7 for making just about anyone who watches it love it unless you see past the older animation which was good for its time i feel. So if you have gotten to this point i hope you will bare with me and try to watch this anime with its gems and i hope it will give you great and memorable events.

Pokemon is a very poplaur anime series. Its a monster themed anime. The first part of this anime will always be the best. There are tons of other better anime out there, but this one is good. Story line-9/10-Im not going to spoil the story to much,s sorry if im not explaining enough. Ash Ketchum is a 10 year old boy. He was given a pokemon named Pikachu. The two travel together, and hopefully become number one. The story is simple, cute, and kid friendly. I dont like kid animes to much like bakugan, but this one is good. Its good for any one to watch. Its very easy to fall in love with this anime, and I did. Characters-8/10-I wont lie,the characters in this anime are good. Ash really got mature. The side characters are fun,and Mewoth is epic! However,Brock is really annoyingg, and the side characters never return. Misty,Ash,Mewoth,Sabrina,Richie, and Gary are my favortives. The character development is good, and team rocket is so funny. Soundtrack-10/10-Amazing music! This anime has a great OST. The theme songs are catchy, the sad music is beautiful, and the main music is good. Pokemon has a really good OST. Really suprising for a anime like this. The musi always gets stuck in my head. The Japanese theme songs are catchy too. I love the music because it always fits the anime at the right time. The best is the wild pokemon theme. Its my favortive theme in the anime. Art-9/10-This anime has very bright colors. Even for the time this anime came out(1997). The colors are pretty. Pokemon was always a anime with good art style. The colors are must shown in action battles, when all the pokemon attacks show, the color is put to the limit. Its very good. Enjoyment9/10-I really enjoyed this series. Pokemon is one of the most enojyable kids anime I have ever watched. Each episode is so fun to watch, it made me watch more. Overall-9/10-I love pokemon. Its a good anime. For anyone looking for a cute little anime, pick this one. Its easily one of the best monster themed anime of all time.
